about the bloody fingers debate and whether it's edvin or not:

let me assure you those are not edvin's fingers lmao. there are many many scenes of yr and also just many random pictures of him where you can very easily gauge the size of his fingers/hands. his fingers are way bigger than that 😭. (just check the morning after scene in 1x05 of yr and you'll know it's true) another thing is that from her caption you can tell the incident happened to her, it kinda seems like she's giving 'advice' so it's from a personal experience for sure. so it's definitely not edvin with the bloody hand.

about the jacket, I have absolutely no idea. but I will tell you some of the photos she's posted are not recent at all. the second to the last photo (where she's smiling like a normal human being for once) is from more than a month ago. it's from a costume party (similar to the wig party in s2) that hedvig went to a month ago (sep 21st to be exact) and from the photos posted you couldn't see felicia back then but this confirms she was there. she also still has eyebrows in that picture, when we know by sep 29th she had bleached them; so that photo is from 5 weeks ago.

even if that is edvin's jacket, (which we don't know, I doubt anyone in here has a master's degree in her wardrobe) that could be from september just like the other photo was. maybe they were still together back then. maybe it's her own jacket. who knows?

I think there are way too many signs that suggest they're not together anymore, edvin's trip to the us being the most obvious one. I know people say edvin's trip was a work thing and that's why he didn't take felicia, but that's not a good enough excuse for me I'm sorry. the day edvin went to nyc, felicia's bestie (beatry) was there. she actually lives part time there and works there. in fact bc of a comment she'd made under her post ppl thought felicia is definitely going with edvin, but we know she didn't. while edvin was busy with work she could've just met her best friend. also let's be serious, edvin most likely didn't do any 'work' in nyc. he just saw kit and chilled for the most part. and ever since he's been in la, he's been having meetings and castings yes but we can see he's also essentially on a semi vacation and he knew it before he went. it could easily be a chance for them to just travel together ESPECIALLY when sigge mj and co are already there anyway and edvin is living at mj's house now too (tho he didn't plan to obviously). also she has no jobs. there's nothing holding her back bc she has commitments in sweden. isak, hugo and zed are also currently in nyc. like there are soooo many ppl she could essentially spend time with and meet being there while edvin was busy with his own thing and she still didn't come. (I'm not even mentioning her ground breaking project with nowell that she's working on that she could work on in la)

if they were still together she'd most likely know edvin is meeting kit. there's no way that woman would lose the opportunity to gain some clout from him (edvin gained 27k followers after that story mind you!) if she knew she can. her suddenly spending time with and posting her friends, particularly male friends, is also another sign. going to a shit ton of malte's concerts and malte related events is also another sign. and all these stuff are just from the past 2 weeks. capri felt odd, no photo dumps, not a single picture of edvin and felicia in the same room together having dropped for more than 7 weeks, the whole nike situation, edvin's comments for her completely lacking their usual obnoxiousness, him not posting the link to vote for her for rising star, edvin back to being obsessed with omar and down bad for him under his posts... do you reallyyyyyy think he'd ever act like this while still being in a relationship with her when you guys have been accusing him of ruining duo promo for months bc he wanted to protect felicia's ego or sth?.... I could go on and on. everything that we have that Suggests they may be together is from freaks saying they saw them at malte's concert and now from a picture where she might be wearing edvin's jacket and it's unclear when the photo is even from.

we can't be sure. I doubt we'll be sure in a very long time bc edvin has no projects that are gonna premiere before next year june which means he's essentially not obligated to do any interviews until then. which means no questions about his dating life for at least another 6 months. and let's be honest he can very easily not go to guldbaggen or gay gala (that is if anything of his even gets nominated in the first place). i don't think felicia would be back to her normal self and edvin would act like an independent human being if they were still together. there are way too many hints that they've broken up for me to get stuck on the fact that might have been in the same malte concert when we know even omar has been to one of them recently at the same time as felicia. even if it's true, it could be just that. them chilling at a bar. just being friendly.

he's not gonna unpin those posts until either he fr gets a role in the us within the next few weeks/months and pins that or promo era for 28 years later or alw starts and that's months from now. this current situation is perfect for them. you can tell nothing is the same, but at the same time there's nothing that obligates them to speak about their dating life. so they can just go on with their lives and act supportive online and keep people believing that "they're just being private" and when finally the time comes and they (or just edvin really) have to admit that yeah 'we actually broke up' or "I'm single currently!" it'd be ages from when their actual break up had happened (literally the second promo for apoy was done). so they'd be able to make it look like 'oh we actually broke up almost a year after we hard launched 🥰' instead of having to admit to the world that they broke up the second it didn't serve felicia anymore and also after all the pr distasters they caused just so she gains an ounce of relevance. so yeah. I think they broke up, but they are and will be friendly and will try to keep people in the dark about whether they broke up or not but we can tell. a clear sign of break up now so soon after apoy and all that happened would confirm everything for the common masses. if the hate train was bad in summer, it'd get 10 times worse. keeling ppl in the dark until months and months passes and then confirming that yeah we broke up is good for both their images bc it'll make the break up look normal and that's what they need to get over this whole phase with the least damage.

First impression:

Well, my first first "impression" came from you guys in the hive saying that I would for sure love him (you know me). Then I read your and @lorecraft's existing Bob fics at the time, before I even went to see the movie. I never do this, but I was on a bathroom floor in much pain so I figured some comfort would be nice. He (and you two) gave me that! And then, seeing him for the first time on the big screen. In my head, I squealed a little bit, and then thought "man, I want to lick those crumbs off his lap". So.

Impression now:

He's my husband. lmao but for a serious answer, I think there's more of an edge to him that he lets on, and at first it was easy to miss that but like on a rewatch you start to notice sassy Bob. Overall I think Bob can be a lot of things, and contains multitudes, and I'll accept nearly any headcanon for him as long as it's well done!

Eh. I don't think these are necessarily unpopular opinions but opinions anyway lol. I will say that my Bob is not mean, ever (on purpose at least). My Bob does not yell when he gets angry, if he indeed gets angry at all. My Bob also doesn't drink alcohol, but just because he doesn't enjoy it, no deeper reason. Oh and my Bob is midwest not south. I also do not care to debate what he is like in the bedroom because Bob is whatever you want him to be! He gets off on whatever his partner gets off on, his enjoyment comes largely from his partner's enjoyment. I don't mean that he'll do whatever just to please people with no regard to what he'd like, I just mean that he thinks his partner being turned on is hot and thus he is also turned on. He's down to try pretty much anything once (with proper research!).

funny how i originally thought this movie was adapted from a novel even BEFORE a major character contracted a terminal illness (aka like one of the most common things that can happen to a character in a Realistic Fiction Novel, right after infidelity). it just has that MFA vibe!

this movie feels like a deceptive advertisement for living in norway. isn't it mostly cold there ? (update: i have looked up the average winter monthly temperatures in oslo & theyre actually pretty much the same as where i live. whooops!!)

the music in this is good when it’s good & rly annoying when it’s not

hilarious and insane that norway’s indie comics scene is (or is at least depicted as being) exactly the same as in the US—i.e., dominated by edgy cishet dudes all too willing to use mere shock factor as an excuse for originality

We don’t get much interiority of her, like aside from the stuff at the beginning abt her various major + career changes, we don't get to hear directly the thoughts she is thinking—not just bc we don't hear much in the way of interior monologue, but also bc she doesn't explain herself to the ppl around her.

like, she didn't tell her then-bf that there was in fact another guy—which like, honestly, if i were in her situation, i might also take the coward's route! especially if she feared jealous retribution from her current bf. but we don't know if she fears that, bc we never see her talk to her FRIENDS, bc for all we know, she doesn't have any!!!!

which feels very……hard for me to believe? bc i have never met a woman who did not have Friends. (& supposedly guys tend to have fewer pals, but even they usually seem to at least have like, Gamer Buds, idk! i know i always did back when i was a Gamer in high school, even if i was kinda withdrawn irl.)

so i'm left wondering—are we supposed to see her as genuinely friendless? & if so, what does that say abt her?

or are we just supposed to assume that the movie doesn't want to show her friends? if that's the case, why would it make that decision??

if we as viewers are supposed to actually believe that she doesn't have friends that she can confide in whom she is not romantically involved with……it rly paints a very specific (& melancholy!) picture of her as a person. bc that's a stereotype i mostly associate w/ Isolated Guys, but yet she is not that! still not sure how i feel abt the freeze-time gimmick. Like on the 1 hand—it’s giving crazy ex girlfriend tv show. But also………idk it looks kinda cool regardless!

between this & tár, i feel sooo…………something abt watching 2 movies in a short timespan that contain Bitingly Contemporary Cancellation Scenes, & also cell phones………i………hmm.

thinking abt gretchen from twitter, a noble woman fighting for a just cause (telling adult YA fans to get a life), yet whose ratioing ultimately feels sorta pyrrhic to me, such that i have to wonder if it's worth the stress it presumably causes her.

but also, i am much more of a wimp than many people! for instance, a lot of ppl are strong tough athletes who put themselves thru a lot of pain because they find it enjoyable overall! whereas personally i only do exercise when i can convince myself that it's fun (e.g., biking places, swimming in water that isn't freezing cold)

so what i'm saying is perhaps gretchen sees being a Culture Warrior as a noble pursuit &/or lives for the thrill of the takedown, whereas i'm probably conflict-averse to a fault. (also, on a materialist level, she gets plenty of publicity for fighting the good fight—& as an author, building an audience is pretty crucial to keeping the lights on!)

anyway, right—the reason i'm thinking abt her at all in the context of this film is bc of the Cancel Culture Scene. bc i'm sympathetic to both the comics artist himself as well as his critics—bc like gretchen & her supporters always say, i believe artists have the right to be messy & sexual & graphic & painful & problematic & difficult to untangle……both bc i prefer to consume art (like this movie!) that fits that description, & bc that's ultimately the kind of work i would like to create.

but what's weird abt the tv interview in the gym in this movie is that we don't really even get to see exactly what the feminists debating the comics boyfriend are actually mad at him about. it's all vague—probably bc the point isn't the debate itself so much as its effect on his ex-gf! (& we know this bc the camera spends hella time tracking her facial reactions throughout this scene, as opposed to focusing primarily on the ex-boyfriend being interviewed.)

(btw for the record, i've read some of gretchen's writing but not a huge amount, & i think she's quite talented at describing compelling visual scenes, but i do worry that some of her political commentary is just so on-the-nose that it isn't as funny as it wants to be?

I agree abt Coran. tbh he is the True Space Mom, like I really enjoyed his moments with Lance in S1 like when he consoled him on his homesickness & then when they were both cleaning the cryo-pods. and like.. how he cares about Allura so much!?! ok and also, Im sure you’ve heard this already bc i dont think anybody was impressed lmao but I wasn’t a big fan of how they shoehorned Hunk into a comic relief role either, like the food jokes were just.. poor taste. I don’t think the creators meant to demean him in any way, but with the more serious & weighty tone of the main arc focusing on Keith and his heritage, they needed to have that comic relief to balance it out. Not justifying Hunk’s treatment he rly did deserve better but I can see why they did that. I dont like it though.

I think both she & they pronouns are fair game. though its canon that Pidge identifies as a girl—whether trans or cis is all headcanon territory—thanks to that one scene where she was told to ‘man up’. To add though, I see her as sort of on the spectrum... like a demigirl. i don’t think she feels strongly about gender.. as in.. she doesnt seem to hinge a lot of her identity on it? not saying that gender unimportant to her, but compared to the grand scheme of things: the whereabouts of her brother, being a paladin of voltron etc, I doubt she puts a lot of weight into it. but when she is confronted with it lmao like that little scene in the space mall and how confused she was.. Pidge is still young and like, gender is fluid, like you said. she’s probably trying to get a grip on her own gender identity herself .. and thats very much an ongoing process. I think its really open to interpretation, so either one is all right. I think he/him pronouns would be misgendering though since she did express discomfort*

Pidge was really endearing throughout the season THOUGH! I have a little. bit of criticism. but its not about her, but how her intelligence was framed? it was poor taste how the show needed to make Lance & Hunk look dumb to make Pidge look smart. considering race and all, it’s really REALLY! poor taste having to discredit two brown boys’ intelligence in order to elevate a white person’s? Like i know the creators probably didn’t mean to do that, but thats what happened when they made both Hunk & Lance the comic reliefs! I’m sure there is a way to frame Pidge as her genius self without degrading H&L, like u could have them nodding along & extending upon her ideas. HUNK at the very least who’s supposed to be the engineer of the team should have been 😕. I read somewhere on a twitter that they could both be like translators lmao, and like explain Pidge’s rambles in layman’s terms to Shiro and Keith (who prob know nothing abt engineering and all that, being solely pilots and all) and Allura and whoever else is lost lmao. Like i don’t think making them look dumb was necessary at all 😔

Im super concerned about Shiro as well 😭 Other fans are guessing he’s stuck on that astral plane which makes sense of his really really abrupt disappearance. im really curious abt whether his stay in the astral plane will involve more black lion flashbacks + more fleshing out on the history of Voltron? That would be really interesting.
