But one of the definitely-not-short-enough-to-write-in-two-weeks concepts I had spun around was like. Not Jade joining the legion or Jade going back to the Wildwood but a secret third thing where Jade ends up getting the kind of knighted where suddenly she has to manage some kind of feudal agriculture smallholding and gets distracted dismantling the patriarchy.

(I don't think it works fully, because the instant Jade is given an estate I think she'd just give it away and start a commune? But I did think tenderly about Jade with her sleeves rolled up, clearing away the overgrown hedges of a long-dormant stately home because she was too stubborn to hire a gardener, and it warmed me deep in my soul.)

Pav is very affectionate when it’s just the two of you. When out in public he still has to keep up the role of the best student at his school, so it would mainly be handholding and maybe some cheek kissing. But when its just you two he’s all over you and kisses you all over the place. He’s like a leech with how attached to you he is sometimes.

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

Pav is an incredible friend, he’s always open to talk and hang out if he doesn’t need to study or go out as spiderman. If you are another spiderperson you guys would hang out even more, going on patrol together. He’s the kinda guy you can come to for advice, and he might roast you, but will still help you. The friendship could start in many ways honestly.

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

He loves to cuddle, he loves to hug and he loves to hold you or be held. If you lay down on your or his bed, or on the couch, expect him to flop down on top of you when you least expect it. Hes a big spoon and little spoon, he doesn’t care which one. His favorite is cuddling into your chest with your fingers running through his hair.

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

He would like to settle down one day, though at this moment of time in his life, he can’t imagine settling down just yet. He’s great at cooking and cleaning as he helps his auntie a around the house a lot.

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

Depends on the reason you guys are breaking up. If its because of a bad reason he might tear up and break up with you on the spot, but if hes slowly lost feelings he would take a long time to accept that hes lost feelings, and he would sit you down to explain and talk about it.

F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)

I can imagine him being a romantic so he would like to marry one day, it would take a long while before he would propose though since the idea of marriage is important to him, and he wants you both to be ready.

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

Pav is a gentle person, he hasn’t gone through some of the horrible things other spiderpeople have gone through, so he isn’t as jaded. He’s affectionate both physically and emotionally, and is easy to talk too about things.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

Like cuddling, he loves hugging. He likes to be held because you just fill his senses, and help block out some of the loud noises and impressions he gets through his powers. He hugs you at least once or twice a day, and his hugs feel so nice, and he buries his face into your shoulder.

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)

Not too fast, he would give it a while, would most likely wait for you to say it first so he knows he isn’t pushing your boundaries.

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

He doesn’t get super jealous, at least until you guys meet other spiderpeople. Then he might have some issue with other spiderpeople flirting with you, but mainly because he’s insecure about himself and his skill as spiderman. He wouldn’t say it, since he feels like it’s a dumb reason to be jealous, but you would be able to tell. Since Pav is good at communicating, you two would talk it through.

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

Soft and quick for the most part. He will give you a peck when running past you out the door, or to surprise you. He loves to kiss you on the lips or the cheek, he has a soft spot for you kissing his neck or his forehead.

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

Pav is great with kids and loves kids, they are also all drawn to Pav because of how kind he is. It’s not unusual to find him hanging out with some of the kids that live on his street, the kids hanging on him or braiding his hair as he does homework.

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

He wakes up early to get ready for class, so even if you wake up later, he gets outta bed before you. He would make you some tea of your liking, kiss you good morning, and go about his day. You might be able to convince him to keep cuddling for a while if he doesn’t have classes or anything planned.

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)

When he isn’t out as spiderman, Pav likes to just spend the night with you doing whatever you two are feeling up to doing. That can be watching a movie, cuddling, cooking, anything really.

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

He’s open up about specific parts about himself from the start, but it would take a while for him to tell you he’s spiderman if you didn’t already know. He doesn’t like to keep secrets though.

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)

Pav isn’t easily angered, and it takes a lot to make him snarp.

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)

He remembers a lot of things, he makes sure to write stuff down if he thinks it’s important, like your comfort foods or favorite smells, just in case he needed it.

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)

Probably the first time you met, however you might have met, it has a special place in his heart. And then when he told you he was spiderman, if you didn’t already know.

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

He’s somewhat protective, especially after he learns about cannon and how many spiderpeople have lost their partner in tragic ways, he tries to keep you away from spiderman so you won’t be a target.

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

He puts a lot of effort into your relationship, it honestly makes you feel like you aren’t doing enough in the beginning. Pav ends up telling you that you don’t have to do as much as him, since one of his love language is gift giving and acts or service, but he does appreciate when you do things for him too.

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

Pav has definently ranted about the chai tea and naan bread thing multiple times, and always corrects you with sarcasm if you say either. He can get too overconfident as spiderman, which ends up getting him hurt.

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

He cares about his looks but not enough to spend hours on it, he likes keeping his hair clean and pretty, and he always dresses well.

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)

Yes, but only after you guys have dated a for a bit. Then he would feel empty and sulk when you arent around, which has become a joke in the spider friend group.

X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)

Hes allergic to fur but not enough for it to be a huge bother, plus he loves animals so much he puts up with the runny eyes and sniffles whenever he cuddles the street dogs, or sees other animals.

Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)

If you are a horrible person, or if you are judgmental towards other people for no reason. He doesn’t like someone who looks down on others and puts themselves on a pedestal.

Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?)

Sleeps spread out like a starfish on laying on top of you, it gets unbearable in the summer since he runs hot. Mumbles in his speak but its never understandable what he’s saying. Kicks the blanket onto the floor, always.

The canon divergence happens after he's kicked out of cloud recesses and the subsequently kicked out of the Jiang sect via Madam Yu. There is a rogue cultivator WY plotline paired with Sect pressure for Lan Zhan to get a cultivation partner and the stubborn man vs oblivious man 230k is fantastic.

The resulting pause is just long enough for Jiang Cheng, who up to this point has been laying rather peacefully next to him, to shoot up and demand, “Oh great, what did you do now?” To be fair, the question isn’t exactly unwarranted. Suibian looks an absolute mess: twigs stuck in her fur, dirt smeared across the white fluff of her underbelly. She’s panting up a storm, little heh heh heh gasps that haven’t edged into her normal high-pitched laughter. When her ears press back against her head, she could almost pass for pitiful. “Bichen hates me.” Wei Wuxian’s first thought is Why would Lan Zhan’s daemon hate you?, but it’s followed quickly by remembering exactly where he is, how little trouble he’s caused today, and the fact that he hasn’t seen Suibian for a few minutes. A grin spreads across his face. (Or: The most important name a cultivator will ever pick isn’t for their sword. It’s for their daemon.)

NOTES: This is still ancient china cultivators but has a little bit of au due to cultivators having daemons. It loosely follows the book plotline as well but is canon divergent. I honestly did not expect to love this 600k fic so much but it had my HEART. I fell for the plot as well as the sentient daemons and the role they play in helping these two sort out their feelings.

This has such a beautiful relationship between Lan Zhan and Wei Ying and features a jailbreak of (alive!) Madam Lan. It's healing and wonderful, but also expect the angst. Fear not though, it has a happy ending! BONUS: it does have a prequel which is part 1 in the series. Also very good but Lan Wangji POV and Wei Wuxian is presumed dead.

NOTES: A fun God!WWX fic in which the vow that WY made and the belief in the Yilling Patriarch brings him back. Such a solid fic, I love the way that WY goes from hated demon to loving deity of children, women, and those in need. He does die in this and is mostly dead for a good portion of it but it is worth it for the reunion and wholesome hoard of children he collects.

In which the joke "I birthed him myself" is taken literally and the cultivation world truly believes the Yilling Patriarch and Hanguang-jun had a child together. So good, bless Wen Qing in this fic honestly.

It's a dark, dark night, but the sun will rise eventually.

NOTES: This is one of my favourite BAMF WWX fics. It is VERY dark, and Lan Zhan is not okay in the majority of this fic but my goodness is it fantastic. WWX does get his hand cut off and then proceeds to be tossed into the burial mounds but his new hand and demonic cultivation are so rad. Worth it for the pain!

In it he befriends and recruits the antagonists of the main timeline and fixes things. This was so good- especially if you like morally grey characters and want a bit of Meng Yao and Xue Yang redemption.

At least Lan Wangji is as unimpressed with the situation as Jiang Cheng is. (Jiang Cheng and Lan Zhan accidentally become co-parents and have to deal with the repercussions)

NOTES: This is the Jiang Cheng & Lan Zhan platonic coparenting fic I didn't know I needed. It was so healing and while WWX is dead for a good chunk of this he does come back. This is a fantastic fic if you want some hurt/comfort, mourning, and healing energy. I will warn it does have a lot of hurt and the Lans come under scrutiny (justifiably). But happy ending!

NOTES: Very cool fic in which WY dies by Wen Zhuliu's hand and becomes a creature of resentment. He turns into a very cool undead water spirit with incredible power. He saves the wens, has a child, and gets the boy in the end. This story is for the monsterfuckers but don't let it fool you, it is kind of tragic. I swear there is a happy ending but the pain is rough.

Manipulation and gaslighting and even enslaving with Azul. Manipulating you into dating, making you fall for him and then sign a bunch of horrible contracts. The contents of those contracts? Ghosting with Idia. It was clear from the start - it wasn't going to go well. You're too different… No, it's him who doesn't deserve you. At first, you did try to reach out, you asked him to talk about it… but he just kept ghosting you. Not a single word to explain why he doesn't want to see you anymore. It's unfair. It hurts.

Jack? Your presence makes him uncomfortable. You just irritate him. You're so unserious. everything is a joke to you.

"Even now you're joking, right?" he said when you tried to confess to him. "I will never think of you as my partner. You're not a match for a wolf. Not with that attitude. Jade - Oh, he he was so charming at the beginning. And by charming I mean fucking mind games, but it was so captivating and you just couldn't resist his charm and by charm I mean manipulation. Rook - It started with stalking. He followed you everywhere, he "occasionally" stumbled upon you in every corridor. You constantly felt someone's gaze wherever you went. Eventually, he confessed, but you made the mistake of rejecting him.

I've never actually heard of that, though I've seen like that orange peel theory on tiktok, but fruit as metaphors for love…pomegranates and their seeds symbolizing closeness…opening them being messy and bloody…the traditional mythos with Hades and Persephone…

Apples as a metaphor for love…the forbidden fruit…trusting someone else even if it damns you…apples being given to Aphrodite, the goddess of love, to demonstrate their love to her…

My thoughts are full and wonderful, like Jade's thoughts for Yuu. We tend to focus so much on the sly, sneaky, teasing eel that we forget, he is just a (mer)man. A man who is weak to the intimacy that inherently comes with domestic love. His heart yearns for the one that's grasped his heart, whether they're aware of it or not. Jade Leech is in fact his namesake, a scrounger for the scraps of affection he can get from Yuu. He's suffering, heart full of longing and aches for the person who has all the power to crush it, to kill him, in the palm of their hands.

So what does his mind do? What do the thoughts filling his brain do when Yuu decides to take the leap that he's too much of a coward to take, and starts hand feeding him? An action reserved for lovers in merculture? He is…momentarily freaking out. As Jade takes the first bite, eyes that he didn't realize had closed open, looking at Yuu's blushing face, he has a blanket of calm fall over him. His heart is still pounding, but it feels…sated. The infamous Jade Leech, full of emotions that even he didn't know he was capable of, and his heart are at peace with the object of their desires.

What are you Gems up to since Era 3?

Thank you for this lovely question! I’m getting back to you a little late, but I’ve been thinking about it for a while. I’ll re-introduce them a bit too!

Moss Agate

Before (Era 2):

Used to be an Agate in Yellow Diamond’s court, and worked at overseeing different groups of Jade. Cooperated with a few Jades to get off homeworld during the crystal gem revolution to join the cause. Not much of a fighter but good at other things, and the skills she’s most proud of was learnt during and after the revolution.

Era 3:

Moss has always been conflicted about her leadership position back at homeworld, and once she revolted she desired new knowledge on why. Working together with the Jades instead of ruling over them enchanted her, and today she’s very fond of different types of horizontational power structures. This has led to her working with such structures to this day in Era 3. She does so with both human and gem kind, caring about the two groups interacting.

Yellow Jade

Before (Era 2): Used to be one of the Jades under Moss Agate’s care, and very central to their escape. She formed a close relationship with Moss and another Jade (ice Jade) and they are still very close to this day.

Era 3: On earth, long before Era 3 began, she quickly fell in love with theatre. Yellow Jade found that she loved taking up a lot of space, and with theater she found and outlet for that. She’s loud and active and to some people can come off as a bit too much. She likes to work together with Moss Agate at whatever she’s up to, seeing herself as a protector of Moss. She also believes in horizontational power, and while not as driven as Moss on the nerdy details, she likes to participate. She teaches theater to gems.

Ice Jade

Before (Era 2): Ice Jade was not a part of the Jade group that Moss lead back on homeworld. She found herself with Moss and Yellow right before the escape to earth, and re-connected with them once they all had arrived.

Era 3: Ice Jade was always very reserved and found great safety by Moss’s side, so she stuck around. She loves Yellow and Moss very much, and they’ve been through a lot together. She helps with their projects but does not connect greatly to the work. Rather, what she enjoys the most is helping and spending time with different earth animals. She finds a great kinship with animals, especially traditionally domesticated species. She sees the way she was othered in the way they are often othered. Unlike Yellow and Moss, she doesn’t not like to spend a lot of time with humans (or gems). She’s working on that.

Slow Horses

Fave viewing over the past few years has been SLOW HORSES on AppleTV+. A spy show with all the intrigues of a John le Carré novel, but if George Smiley was written as a sarcastic smart arse and every other spy was a downbeat comedian. 

River Cartwright chased by one of ’The Dogs’.

The show focusses on spies who’ve disgraced themselves, but for various reasons can’t be set free into the wild. We are led into this espionage backwater by an earnest young spy who has become persona non grata with Mi5. His efforts to get back into the slick world of Regent’s Park puts him at the heart of the action in the series. Though he’s from Mi5 royalty (as his grandfather used to head the organisation) he’s banished to a shabby facility called Slough House. 

Lamb uses his signature flatulent power-move on Taverner. 

This kingdom of losers is ruled by Jackson Lamb, hilariously played by Gary Oldman. Famed for being a chameleon, Oldman is clearly having enormous fun here, playing this jaded old cold warrior, who doesn’t care any more. Lamb has let himself go physically, but is still mentally sharp enough to anticipate when he’s being setup. Which is often, and most likely by his Mi5 boss Diana Taverner (played with deadpan ice queen flair by Kristin Scott Thomas). Her disdain for the screwups of Slough House doesn’t stop her from using their services. These ‘Slow Horses’ are ostensibly kept on by ‘the service’ for menial jobs - filing and desk work - but they are sometimes caught up in intrigues too. Simply because Mi5 often needs fall guys.

Shirley & Marcus pinned down by The Tiger Team.

Mi5 is portrayed as a world of grasping political climbers. The higher up the political totem pole, the more damehoods & knighthoods there are. But ruthless sociopaths abound too. More than willing to sacrifice their underlings if it advances their own interests, or covers up a blunder. The traditional baddies of spy stories are here, but rather than the Russians or international terrorists, domestic political dirty dealing is responsible for most of the body count.

Min & Louisa surprise an intruder at Slough House.

For all their flaws, the Slow Horses have more decency than the ‘winners’. They are prickly & snarky characters, that are nevertheless likeable. A fave of mine is Roddy Ho, Slough House’s IT expert. His hilariously pompous dialog is brilliantly played to the smugly annoying hilt by Christopher Chung. Pint-sized firecracker Shirley Dander (Aimee-Ffion Edwards) and wily old school operative Catherine Standish (Saskia Reeves) are a couple of other faves, but honestly, all the characters have their moments. 

Roddy analyses the kidnap photo of Standish. 

The show-runner is standup comedian & writer Will Smith, who manages to deliver laughs aplenty but also real drama. Main characters can die, and probably when you’d just learned to love them. We enjoyed watching this show so much that, after finishing the 3rd season, we RE-watched the entire thing, and were entertained even more the 2nd time. 

Jackson Lamb has an ice cream.

Having just exhausted all the viewing options available, Julia & I just began the book series that the show is based on, by Mick Herron. Though many details differ, the books are remarkably similar to the TV series, tonally. Added background details to the characters & plots make them enjoyable even after seeing the show. Hopefully they will feed us enough Lamb until season 4 drops at the end of 2024.

Heartslabyul and Savanaclaw students were the quickest to spring into action, leaving their housewardens little time to protest before providing relief with their own urine. We had made preparations in advance to make sure that no one would get hurt if they had decided to lash out, but it seems we might have underestimated the danger that Rosehearts poses even without his magic. We wish for all the unfortunate victims a speedy recovery.

Both Octavinelle and Pomefiore were far more willing to let their leaders take care of the problem. I had accurately predicted that the ones selected by the spirit of the Beautiful Queen would know better than just believe some baseless rumours, and it seems that Octavinelle students might have believed Ashengrotto to be used to this sort of incidents as an acquatic creature himself. Interestingly, when the two housewardens were stung by the jellyfish and some of their students were wondering if they should urinate on it, both vice-housewardens had responded individually with "How should we do that? It already swam away!". Needless to say, neither housewarden appreciated the joke.

As expected, we weren't able to get Al-Asim without also hurting Viper who, despite our best efforts to catch them while his guard was down, took the first hit for him. The Scarabia dorm split pretty evenly to tend to the two of them, and it surprised me greatly to note that their housewarden already knew about how inefficient urine is as a remedy. Viper on the other hand was unable to get his exuberant helpers to listen to him. I suppose that they may not yet fully trust his judgement after the events that took place during winter break. Even so, they were all so eager to aid him, I can't help but get teary eyed witnessing the care they hold in their hearts for their vice-housewarden.

Diasomnia students ended up spilling more tears than any other fluid, rallied on by Vanrouge to assist their leader. Were they tears of pride in being of use to the heir of Briar Valley? Or shame for sullying him? When questioned about it, the students weren't quite sure either. They also had to restrain one of the first years, who will remain anonymous, from chasing after the culprit into the depths of the ocean to get revenge.

Similarly, the younger Shroud also took the lead, giving his fellow dormmates a speech that I found far more... unothodox than Vanrouge's. At times he made it sound almost like the real objective would be the humiliation of their housewarden, which stirred the students in a completely different direction from the one I intended. For a brief moment I was afraid that it would lead to a prank war the likes of which I haven't seen as headmaster since the great hedgehog repopulation incident from fifteen years ago...

Feeling unwell about old men again. It had me thinking, what would fluster them? Nothing nsfw, that would be too easy. What would really get them bashful and get caught off guard? Nanu has litterally seen all kinds of shit working for interpol, Larry's so tired his emotions are almost depleted, Warden Ingo's legit surviving in the wild, I can imagine old men being tired and ded inside 😔

Honestly, with Nanu, being completely genuine with your praise towards him completely makes his brain freeze up. Telling him how handsome you truly find him, or how strong he is in countenance or physically. He ends up scratching the back of his head, trying to process it. Sure, he has been praised for his work before, but when his partner is randomly lathering on compliments with such a genuine, sweet tone, he simply can not process it. A grin falls across his face after a while as his heart beats just a little bit faster. At some point, he feels like he needed the pick-me-up that your words provided to him. Nanu feels oddly complacent and boring at times (especially when compared to his younger years), so being genuinely praised makes him feel surprised. (He's honestly happy that you are fine being with him.)

With Larry, it is entirely chance, but whenever he realises that you genuinely enjoy being with him. A part of him his jaded and thinks that you being with him is some form of settling. He's busy all the time, after all, and isn't the most approachable man on the planet. Yet, when you greet him with a bright smile and hug after he finally gets home from the office after an especially long day, it clicks in his mind. You genuinely love him. You want to be with him. His exhausted mind barely can process all the strange feelings this brings out. Larry doesn't really blush, but his arms return to the hug in earnest. His heart pounds in his chest like he just downed his third cup of coffee in the row to keep powering through the endless emails thrown at him.

Warden Ingo… Well, he's still Ingo at the end of the day. A little rough around the edges and more loose than he would ever allow himself to be with his memories, but he is so easy to fluster. Even calling him a cute nickname is enough to draw out a blush on his cheeks. Any kind of domestic behaviour makes him feel like his stomach is twisting. He adores affection, too. The Warden is only dead inside until he is showered in love, then he is but a love fool.

DIRK: At least under a somewhat expansive definition of "success".

DIRK: I thought about the examples you set constantly. The creative ideals, the advanced theories on irony and humor, the tales of courage and martial prowess.

DIRK: Really, I modeled everything about myself after you. Or at least everything good that I was trying to become.

DIRK: And I probably spent an embarrassing amount of time imagining what it would be like to live during his time, and to be able to have something resembling a sibling relationship, or be in some sort of master-apprentice situation.

DIRK: When I finally learned you existed, and started to understand who he really was in relation to me, that put a lot into context.

DIRK: I realized he was a version of you who got a chance to live up to his full potential.

DIRK: And when I understood there was a young version of you, in a situation sorta like mine, whose time on Earth got cut short when you were thrown into all this,

DIRK: I was at least happy to think there was some reality where you got the chance to do everything you wanted to do, be successful, and fight for all the right things.

DIRK: Even if ultimately it didn't lead to a great outcome for humanity, you had an opportunity to live a full life and show what you were made of.

DIRK: While I guess I had... the same opportunity on your world, somewhat less fortunately.

DAVE: yeah

DAVE: but then for all my bitching i guess i still never grasped your full reality

DAVE: just like you probably didnt grasp mine, but just reading into the mindset of a historical figure as best you could

DAVE: what if i wasnt as heroic as it seemed?

DIRK: But beyond a certain point, I think accomplishments speak for themselves.

DIRK: As a good person who inspired me, and set the standard for what I wanted to be.

DIRK: It kept me going.

DIRK: That said, I'm also glad there's this version of you who got to go through all the things you've been through.

DIRK: Like, yeah, you didn't get to be the cool celebrity who cuts down juggalos on badly defaced government property.

DIRK: And the idea of a "normal life" was rudely taken from you, and it's something you'll never get to experience.

DIRK: But this is so much more challenging, and uncertain.

DIRK: You get to apply all that potential you showed in one reality to something much bigger and more existentially critical.

DIRK: Whatever strength you showed in trying to save a dying planet, the fact is, I think we need that more here.

How does (canon character) feel about your OC? [Barry and Cisco]

Siv: Cisco trusts Siv a lot more than Barry does, since Siv kinda grew up in STAR Labs, hanging around and doing homework while their dad was working, and he was almost like an uncle to her. He knows them a lot better than some of the others.

Barry, on the other hand? His strict moral code and her playing fast and loose with the law don't mix well, and he sees them as being volatile and dangerous (which tbh is kinda true). She doesn't like him much either. Plus, they barely even know each other.

Onnie: Cisco has trouble differentiating the Onnie who he met when she was a sweet kid, and the jaded metahuman mobster who now rules part of Central City's criminal underworld. He hopes to encounter them someday, to try to talk some sense into them (it probably won't work).

Barry, on the other hand? Eobard framed him for Gina's death, and even if Onnie logically knows that Barry is innocent and Eobard is the real killer, it feels good to have someone to direct that rage at who won't beat you to the brink of death at the slightest provocation. He's honestly kinda scared of her.

Which canon character annoys your OC?

Siv: By far, Barry Allen. His strict "No Killing" rule has been the cause of so many of her problems, at least in their opinion, since after he lets villains escape and gives them second chances (especially Eobard), they often become Siv's problem. She'd like to be able to grab his shoulders and give him a good shaking, but unfortunately, they're too short.

Onnie: General Wade Eiling. He's a manipulative bastard who's tried to partner with her father multiple times, and they see that as a threat to their power. He's not dangerous to her, not with their level of power, but he's definitely a nuisance.

Which canon character does your OC not respect at all? Why?

Siv: Eobard. He may be her father, but she doesn't give a shit about that. He's also a superpowered serial killer, and while Siv isn't above a little killing of their own, they see their kills as mostly justified (except for the accidental ones), while Eobard's are random and often petty. He has no respect for human life.

Onnie: Barry Allen. She blames him for Gina's murder, and while years before they uncovered the truth, that Eobard was behind the killing, she's too scared of her dad to do anything about it, and prefers to direct her anger towards Barry. She also sees him as a useless goodie-two-shoes, who doesn't do much other than get in their way.

Who has your OC made cry?

Siv: Eobard, mostly. Siv doesn't cry much- most of her tears are tears of frustration or anger.

Onnie: See above. Eobard is an asshole.

What is your OC’s redemption moment?

Siv: When they hit rock bottom, and not even Jay is willing to help her anymore. Essentially, Siv dives deeper and deeper into cynicism, misanthropy, and self-destruction, slowly pushing away everyone she loves while committing worse and worse crimes, until finally, Jay has to realize that at this point in time, Siv's a bad friend and being around her is actively hurting him. They make up eventually, but it's at that point that she realizes that she's hit rock bottom, and the only way out is up.

Onnie: The imminent destruction of the multiverse. Though it's more a "Because I'm one of the idiots who lives in it!" moment, it leads into Onnie's greater domestication arc (is it a redemption arc? idk, but she definitely gets less feral so we're gonna call it the domestication arc). She figures out a way to trap her earth in a pocket dimension, and though using herself as a power conduit to do so almost kills her, it works in the end, and E-2002 is saved.

Jade Kingdoms lore: the Nightburn's Purge (spoiler-free, but still in depth)

As I'm also a writer, I'm going to dump my Jade Kingdoms lore on my art blog now too. I'd like to have a digital version of my lore book (a hand-written bastard I keep next to my bed in case of fuckshit inspiration coming in while mortals sleep)

CW: domestic abuse, death ahead!!

So. The Nightburn's Purge. A concept from my book's original draft, scrapped for the web novel and first draft of the webcomic. Now assblasting back for the reboot as I'm no longer interested in softening up a story up meant to be viciously heartwrenching and being a personal catharsis to cope with the vile shit I've experienced in my own life.

6000 years ago, the Nightburn Prophet and King Belmont's right-hand man (and lover) at long last succumbed to his Jade Construct. The appearance of the Prophet's Jade Construct shook up the entire South Kingdom with its nefarious time winds tearing apart the living. King Belmont- heartbroken yet still expected to serve his people, morphed into his Vajra Forme, the Golden Jade Dragon and managed to seal the Jade Construct (that did not give its name, remember this part) in a Time Capsule that would eventually erode over time.

But the Jade King would not be given time to mourn his lover. Nor have time to understand the chaos his beloved prophet tried to stop all by himself, yet eventually was killed by that very attempt. His own daughter Suren also exposed a truth her grieving father, as quietly as she could.

And Belmont's grief morphed into blind rancor upon hearing his daughter's pain.

This was supposed to be Belmont's Golden Rule- a safe haven for all to enjoy opulence and prosperity. Everyone within the kingdom was safe, visitors from Humanity's nomadic tribes and the Garuda's caste were all welcome.

So how then did Suren get abused by her own family? How in the world could this have happened?

And Belmont did not explore the why at all. For his eyes flared with rage, and that rage steeped into his veins, muscles and bone. Blood boiled, and his body moved.

Moved to kill.

All. Of. Them.

In a single hour, screams and chaos erupted from the Jade Castle. The Jade Court, Ministers, attendants, Stewards- Belmont hunted them all and murdered them without magic, pathokinesis or even his Vajra Forme. Bare-handed with nothing but relentless rage and physical strength Belmont purged generations from his house.

And then in the throneroom, his daughter, his beloved only child wept and cried stumbling upon a carnage her Vritra eyes had only read about in books of wars long past. Who had done this? This is where these sounds had come from?? Who had done this?!

'My poor daughter.' Belmont must have thought as he for the first time that afternoon raised his hand and charged up pure light energy in it. She could never get past this, not after the terrible trauma she had already experienced at the hands of her relatives (now bleeding out in silver in his golden halls).

"This truly is for the better...my Surentara."

A single flash of light hit Suren right in the back, through her abdomen. And she could not process the fact her life stopped right then and there. As her body dropped to the ground, the last seconds of her life Suren could see behind her her father-

With a Jade Emperor's crown dangling from his other hand, golden energy fading in the other.

Energy she had just seen pierce through her own body.

Her green eyes blinked. Slowly. And dark blue gazed back at the emperor in the next- for a Jade Emperor is a vile being. Singular in absolute power, ruling a neverending era of oppression. Suren remembered those studies.

And so she roared.

Roared as her own Vajra Forme stumbled awake, driven by pure survival instincts- Belmont hastened to get out of the way of the princess' body twisting and turning in not a noble creature, but one of vicious rage and grief. Pitch-black are the Black Jade Dragon's scales, accompanied by a sky-filling mane of thousands of eyes all glaring at its target as it rushes towards the roof and breaks itself free from death and defeat.

And Suren's citizens scream in terror as the sky blackens and openes those same thousands of eyes in the sky, taking away the sun.

Not to toot my own horn or give advice nobody asked for but let's talk about actually building diverse and memorable characters using mine as an example. I have a very big cast of characters on this blog! And I like to think I can maintain that to a degree by making sure everyone brings something unique to the table.

Every single character has a different belly premise, for one. Some work better than others, some characters have failed because the premise wasn't strong enough. But they all have a unique story with unique motives:

Lemon is a surrogate so she can live on the surface

Lorenzo is a surrogate out of rebellion

Claire is a proud expecting mother

Winnie's body was permanently transformed in a life-or-death situation

Takeshi is being punished for some sort of careless wrongdoing

Ife was given magical powers in exchange for carrying the children of a cosmic beast

I could go on! But you get the picture. Another important distinction to make is with characters themselves. No two characters are too similar, giving enough of a distinction that they can be remembered as fully-formed people.

Lorenzo and Takeshi are both slender men with sour dispositions. However, Lorenzo has the confidence of being incredibly young and a genuine love for getting pregnant. Takeshi is much older and more jaded and generally does not enjoy having a belly

Missy and Suyin are both trans women. However, Missy is very stoic and protective and dresses in vibrant colors. Missy is also much more voluptuous and busty. Suyin is sickly thin and pale and dresses almost exclusively in greyscale. Suyin has also never taken any sort of step to medically transition, vs Missy who has to certain degrees.

Claire and Winnie are both short, overweight women with bubbly dispositions. However, Claire is also a business professional and very serious about the domestic life. Winnie is much more reckless and naive.

Again, I could go on. Its not a quick and easy thing to do by any means, but its important to have things that give depth and make characters unique if you're going to have a big cast. Even if it is just a niche, like Lemon being a shark and Zero being an alien. It gets the job done! There does still need to be a little more depth to have an actual character though.

Its also why I tend to really not like crossing over traits. Why involve Lorenzo in magical pregnancy when Sylvain is right there? Why give Suyin huge tits when most of the cast already has that? In my opinion, most of the appeal is how distinct they are. There's someone for everyone, never a one-size-fits-all for porn fodder. If you want more from one character, there's very likely one that can give you what you want if you're willing to branch out and check out the character list. I also can go on another tangent about demanding representation when i have "not enough" of something but that's a separate rant for another day

I'm not even really sure where I was going with this and what my overall point is! But if someone can get some sort of use out of my rambling that'd be neat :)

Romantic Rant

Why is the romance so recycled today? It's like everyone sticks to one mold when it comes to romance in any capacity. Whether its in writing or on screen.

Unless its gay romance but we'll get into that later.

There are so many tropes that are collecting cobwebs. COMPLETELY untouched. Hell barely even explored.

So many interesting tropes I'm ITCHING to see.

Why are there no romance pieces about a mc villian. Who's a villian for the hell of it. Not because they need an excuse like childhood trauma but because they want to. and the love interest could be a hero or a bystander. An important one. Whether its in strength or connections.

And they fall in love with eachother. and the hero slowly converts to a villian. WITHOUT THE VILLIAN HAVING TO SEDUCE THEM OR COHOARSE THEM. THEY DO IT BECAUSE THEY LOVE THE VILLIAN SO MUCH. Okay.

Maybe they hide it from the villian. in fear that the villian would not love them anymore since they fell inlove with the hero side of them. but the villian finds out and reassures them that they care.

Like for example Black Fire and Connor from Titans 2018. It was blackfires (villian) dream and plan to go back to her home planet and be queen, but connor (hero) didnt want her to leave him after they'd just agreed to be a duo. So he sabotages her ship and only way back home.

She doesn't scold him or shows any hint at anger towards him. In fact she defends him against star fire who was pissed at what connor just did.

(When I say hero and villian I dont mean in the literal sense with capes and super powers. Just in general a good and bad guy.)

What about a reverse stalker trope? Kinda like the tv series YOU.

Except the mc is a sweetheart. Cries when they step on a bug types. Easy going and soft hearted. hard to please but when they are pleased. they fall hard and get obsessive. To which they admit to, though no one takes it seriously.

Love interest comes into the picture. They could be a complete nobody. A emo. Someone who's easily forgotten in a crowd. A weirdo that people tend to stray away from. been accused of murder but other than that actually pretty normal... other than the fact they've been stalking the MC and slowly inserting themselves into their lives.

They fall in love. Yada yada yada. eventually the LI finds out that the MC is connected to the murders the LI was originally accused of. So they question the MC and the MC not trying to hide it admits to everything. THe murders and eventually admitting to being the stalker and kind of manipulating the LI into thinking they were the stalker. etc etc. the MC goes onto saying it's too late to have second thoughts. it's me or death. etc

I feel like that'd be such an interesting romance show. From romantic to straight thriller.

Why are there like ZERO femdomxsubmale romances? And I'm not talking about sexually. Strictly domesticated. Like A fem character with a dominate personality dating a nerdy frail guy. Like erica and stiles.

Or Wednesday and the guy she kissed at the camp in the the addams family movie!

Or like jade and beck from victorious. (Jade was the toxic one and I dont want to here shit abt it fr.)

I literally have an original story about a queen pin x rookie cop.

Why is it that the majority of the straight romance stories with fem MC... Write them as the biggest damn red flag ever.

Why is she physically, mentally, and verbally assaulting the male love interest with the excuse of daddy issues...

This is another reason why I didnt like the enemys to lovers trope until i realize that the ones that i read werent written correctly.

This is another reason why I dont like tashiki from one piece. One of the first things she said to zoro was unbelievably offensive and unacceptable. Not to mention the fact that she likes to excuse her being WEAK because she's a woman and they are men. Talk about offensive.

I have so many on screen couples/movies/tv shows I want to talk to people about! Like:

Interview with the vampire THE SERIES. NOT THE DAMN MOVIE.
