I wanted to speak of this for a while, this in a ooc serious post btw, treats sensitive topics so, I'm gonna out this here—
Tw: domestic violence, abuse
SO last week, @jacynbrakegrayson started the plot were he believes Dick is abusing Barbara and I wanted to do a statement about that, from the perspective of a survivor of domestic violence, parent neglecting, psychological abuse and physical abuse myself.
I do not find funny or entertaining this plots, it's a trigger for me since I relive those moments by that media. It is something I treat with my therapist but I DON'T feel comfortable treating those topics outside therapy, specially the domestic abuse/toxic relationship/ abusive relationships.
That is also why I almost don't talk about that part in Barbara's background. It's been not to long since I faced my abuser, and I think it's an important theme but should be addressed respectfully and seriously. It doesn't feel correct for me to treat those topics as a plot here, because the tumblr blog I take it not so seriously as other things going on in my life (Like college, writting career or twitch career). So if I personally talk about those topics should be in a serious and produced approach.
I don't want a "it ends with us" type of thing in any of my blogs. (Plus I don't think Dick's mun feel comfortable with that either). And if you're gonna have a type of content in your blog please use the tag #domestic abuse #toxic relationship #abusive relationship
I have blocked those tags and so I stay myself away from those triggers.
Thank you for reading, and please if you live a situation like that, don't doubt on get help. I do not live in the USA but here's where you can get help at:
Y si eres de México o latinoamerica aqui estan algunas organizaciones y números de respuesta a los que puedes acudir:
Apoyo psicológico via WhatsApp de la UNAM: 55 5533 5533

Harley is so cute in the Gotham Girls comic but jfc the writing around her is so questionable the large part of the time 😭😭
Tumblr media Tumblr media
sorry (no I'm not) but actually that feels so damned victim blamey and I resent the nasty ass way comics talk about her mental health problems it's so offensive. Paul D. Storrie im in your closet
Tumblr media Tumblr media
like now why the fuck would Ivy or Barbara react this way? Ivy knows her and Barbara is literally a superhero,,, she also knows damn well who Harleen was???? it's kinda like a part of the superhero thing is learning about the enemies you're facing???? "Sure Harley I know" yeah she does know because Harley's fucking right you don't just get hired at ARKHAM what is wrong with the writer of this comic???
AND SHE WASN'T A PHYCOLOGIST !!!!! SHE'S NEVER BEEN A DAMNED PSYCHOLOGIST !!! ITS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THING FROM BEING A PSYCHIATRIST FFS !!!!!!!!

considering the amount of questions i get about it, i want to clarify my interpretation and stance on hawks and endeavor's relationship, specifically on hawks supporting endeavor even after it becomes public of how badly endeavor treated his family, as i think it's very important to my portrayal of the birb.
both of hawks' parents were abusive: physically, mentally and verbally. his father was a murderer on the run and his mother harbored him. hawks' conception was unintentional and happened while both of them were under extreme stress of hiding from the authorities all the time. this manifests into them projecting their irritation, anger, and even hatred of each other and is directed at hawks instead. his dad hated his guts until endeavor put the trash in jail and hawks' mother basically sold him to the hero commission and later on, again, sold out his son's personal information to dabi and left like a coward. couldn't even apologize to his face either, just left a "goodbye" note.
hawks admires endeavor, not just because he was saved by him but because endeavor realizes that his abusive actions were wrong, apologizes to his family to their faces, admits it in public to everyone, and instead of running away, faces the consequences of his actions head on. endeavor isn't asking for forgiveness, he is trying to make amends, fully accepting that he doesn't deserve any. he is taking responsibility to make up for the damage he's caused. period. he's not running away like hawks' mother did. he realized his wrongs unlike hawks' father who never even got to the point of even realizing what he had done was wrong. that, to hawks, is inspiring and instills a lot of hope in him.
while he doesn't know exactly what the todoroki family went through, hawks has a good idea. he lived under that too. but endeavor - despite how flawed and terrible he was - came to. that realization point is what hawks finds amazing because his parents will never get to that point and therefore, he knows that it's not easy to get there. hawks wants to support that. he is not condoning or supporting abuse.

Considering aura is a thing, it'd probably be a lot harder to catch a batterer since the victim's wounds would heal and leave no evidence
#rwde#watching kennie jds review of worst ex ever and getting abso fucking lutely heated#even w overwhelming amts of evidence and testimony cops will forever punish the victim rather than the abuser#how hard in remnant would it be to actually figure out someone you love was being abused wo the bruises or hospital visits?#(depending on how much aura can actually heal wo needing a boost.#(bruises might only happen after aura saves the victim from deaths front door which is a terrifying thought)#how much harder would it be to get actual justice for the victim wo the most obvious unambiguous evidence?#i doubt theres any justice in remnant#every authority we see is either corrupt. a clown. or a corrupt clown#and given how demonized negative emotions are in rwby the victims would feel compelled to hide their true feelings#even more than they are irl bc of the grimm#so any emotional or behavioral indicators would be so small and subtle theres v little chance of anyone picking them up#or even if they are noticed theyll probs be excused as 'oh its a bad day' or 'they didnt sleep well'#bc those things are plausible and far more common than domestic violence#rwby really couldve dived into this abuse angle and explored what it means to be trapped in that situation by so many circumstances#but noooooooo just lean on the incel dialogue and let the rabids swallow and regurgitate the plot#not even the minimum effort but still getting your dick sucked by people who worship mediocrity: the rooster teeth method

Person A was a foster kid who, when they aged out of the system, avoided homelessness by hooking up with a wealthy but abusive partner. Their partner, in an effort to keep tabs on Person A, brings them to the underground fight clubs where they make bets on who will win. One of the fighters, Person B, is a consistent winner and Person A is attracted to seeing Person B fight, so Person A lets their controlling partner keep bringing them to the fights for the sake of seeing Person B. Eventually, Person A has to leave their partner for the safety of the child the two had together, and is living in a cheap apartment, but still attends the fights to make some extra cash betting on Person B. But one day, they run into none other than Person B in the elevator at their apartment when they’re coming back from grocery shopping with their child. Person B doesn’t recognize Person A, since they never paid attention to the crowds watching them, and is sweet and friendly to Person A’s child and offers to help Person A carry the groceries they’re struggling with. Person A is reminded of their strong attraction to Person B, but is afraid to bring someone who they’ve seen be immensely violent into their life with their child after already escaping one abusive partner. As more run ins around the apartment complex happen, Person A starts to learn more about Person B’s everyday life and starts to develop romantic feelings for them alongside their continually growing attraction to Person B since they first saw them in the ring.

𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘆 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 , she cannot help but falter , crumble beneath it. sansa stark typically has it all together , or she at least pretends that she does , but as of late her composure is frantic , scattered , even. there is one common denominator : theon greyjoy. ever since he came into her orbit , it feels as if all equilibrium has been lost. sansa cannot focus , her mind wanders to places it shouldn't. it recounts nights of passion , lingering thoughts , movements that cause heat to flush every corner of her body. it had been their little secret, they were set on robb never finding out. he would never forgive them , and since there was nothing more to this new dynamic other than sex , what was the harm in hurting him? ( all while hurting herself that this would never be more ).
they had gotten lazy ( or perhaps desperate for more ) , parties provided a camouflage. intertwined bodies disguised by dark basement lights in frat houses. those who noticed never said much , and the ones they worried about finding out never knew. it seemed to be a perfect balance of getting whatever it was between them out to see the light of day , and still being bound by the rules they crafted. the stupid , idiotic , rules she hated with her whole heart. though someone seemed to notice , a certain ex-boyfriend who had a habit of decorating sansa's skin with black and blue marks. who used his tongue as a weapon , degrading her and making her feel absolutely worthless. sansa had escaped him , or so she thought. joffrey had seen them , they weren't exactly subtle after all , thus he made it his mission to find sansa alone on campus , he had then shown her the displeasure he had about her being with other men (despite the breakup long ago).
sansa knocks on theon's door , she's trembling , unable to find her gravity. it feels like she has been hit by a car , forward , reverse , then perhaps several more times this action is repeated. her arms and face sport a new shade of yellow , black , and blue. her lip is split open , and she echoes the degrading insults he calls her in his head. 𝚆𝙷𝙾𝚁𝙴 , 𝚂𝙻𝚄𝚃 , 𝙳𝙸𝚂𝙶𝚄𝚂𝚃𝙸𝙽𝙶 , it's on repeat , and she cannot help but wonder if he is right. he has that magic ability to make her see the worst of herself ( even if it's not there ).
when theon opens the door , she doesn't have to say a word. she knows he's aware just by the look of her. a year ago she was on his and robb's doorstep after she had finally gotten the nerve to break up with joffrey , and she looks a similar shade tonight. ❝ he - he saw us. ❞ she whispers , tears streaming down her face. her body is consumed with guilt and pain , sore and broken. it is shame she feels as well , that she finds herself in such a position , not when she prides herself on being strong and capable. though the second she sees theon , she folds like a deck of cards.
he holds her , and it reminds her not every touch is meant to inflict pain. he speaks kindness to her , and it's a nudge to her brain that some words are coated with honey , not all drip in poison. sansa makes theon swear not to seek revenge , as last time her brothers and him nearly ended up in jail for it. joffrey's father was far too powerful. instead , she just makes him promise to hold her , and to never let go. it takes hours , but she drifts off to sleep , the safest place in the world being theon's arms.

Taichi was definitely very worried and by Takaaki's side everyday. Just being on his feet everyday while Takaaki was forced to stay in bed resting before Takara was born. (Even after she was born.) Takaaki tried to tell him that he was going to be fine and that he can still do things around the house but Taichi is very insistent. And Takaaki can admit he finds it funny, but he sort of likes it as well.
Though he still wants to insist that Taichi let him actually do something and not lay in bed when he can still cook and do some chores. He doesn't like not being occupied...and he can only do enough word searches and crossword puzzles per day before getting absolutely bored to hell. And he finds it annoying when Taichi (who means well) forces him back into bed. So he's just begging for Taichi to let him do something around the house or he will go insane.
So they come up with an arrangement that Takaaki does some chores (ones that don't require him to do much labor of course. Especially with their kid on the way and Takaaki's body not needing to be overworked) but still gets rest. Takaaki begrudgingly agrees, grumbling as he continues his word search.

I've recently found a couple spideypool fics where for whatever reason, Peter kills Wade during sex or during any romantic moment. And it's like hey we've actually stumbled upon the best metaphor for what their relationship should be. Like through pure attraction, Peter has become a worse person and sacrificed a part of himself, but it's not a one-way street because Wade's not walking away from this the same and the Spider-Man he was chasing was fundamentally changed by the pursuit. Is there still something special about Peter now that he hurts him just like everyone else? Can Peter let Wade go because who else will understand the precious balance between love and blood lust?
but like most of these fics are just pwps or say something along the lines well he can't stay dead so it's not technically killing

Rare YouTube comments w because I was watching a video about the heavily criticized marketing campaign by Blake Lively for the movie It Ends With Us and a good portion of people were saying that the problem is the book itself

ok so as an exercise here's my tweak on "starts out as horror but the main character leaves the haunted house, has a cozy romance elsewhere, while catching glimpses of what's up with the house via news."
It does go like that. At first. They're sensible. The first few things they write off, of course, but they add up the signs. They move into a hotel (of course, because they can afford to) while they prepare to sell the house. When someone comes to tour, they give the impression nothing's wrong, they're still living there, the new town just didn't work out and that's why they're moving back home. It's bought by a single parent, drawn in by the affordable pricetag.
Our protagonist returns home. They fit back into their old life, not perfectly, but well enough, and the rest will iron out with time. They meet someone. She doesn't look perfect at first (the house did) but they get to know her over time (they didn't really get to know the house, they ran, but running was the right thing to do, wasn't it?). And as the romance blossoms, our protagonist's thoughts drift every so often to the house they left behind.
One night, as they're curled up with their love on the couch, they catch something on the news. "Family found murdered in Littletown, USA." Hey hun - she yawns - wasn't that the town you lived in for a bit?
It is. Of course it is. It's the family who bought the house, too. Single parent looking for a new start (they were looking for a new start too, weren't they? but they had the sense to leave), couple kids (the kids.... can't have had much choice in the matter, but they should've realized, right? kids are perceptive!). And they are hit with two emotions at once.
One goes for the shoulders, the lungs. A rushing of air. A sudden lightness. A relief. I was right to run. That house was going to kill me. Thank my lucky stars I got out.
The second goes for the gut. It is a twisting, vomitous thing. They do not have words for it. Not yet. But as the days and the weeks pass, so does the relief, while this churning, unnameable feeling only grows.
If the house flitted into their thoughts from time to time before, now it begins to consume them. Late nights poring over coroner's reports. Oversleeping, late mornings with barely enough time to grab coffee and toast on the way out the door (and they start to miss their breakfast dates with their sweetheart, because even this deep in the relationship they're still making that effort with each other, it's a beautiful romance). They cannot shake this feeling. It will not go, something tells them, until they understand the whole story.
Their sweetheart reaches a breaking point. They've become distant, lost in thought, missing dates and after missing an important occasion, it comes to a head. They break down. The whole tragic story of the House comes spilling out. The signs they saw firsthand, the family that died, the please believe me I know it sounds absurd but it was definitely haunted. It cannot hold itself back anymore.
Their sweetheart is remarkably understanding. She accepts the house was haunted without skipping a beat. She asks how she can support her partner. This is the perfect romance after all, and communication fixes everything.
They tell her they're stuck on one last piece of the puzzle. Of exactly how the family they sold the house to died. They've exhausted everywhere they can search, and they're pretty sure the only way to find out is to return to the house one last time.
Communication, it turns out, doesn't fix everything. Another argument breaks out. That house killed them, and if you go back there it will kill you too. I can't lose you. They promise not to go.
They do.
They have to know.
And so the survivor's guilt, and ultimately the house itself, claims another victim.
people are so mean about horror movie victims like. sorry but if i had gone to a cabin in the woods with my friends as a teenager you couldn't have stopped us from reading aloud from the evil tome. how were they supposed to know the ancient curse was real they're like 17

[high key unpopular opinion, low key snob moment incoming] honestly discourses about whether or not a plot is good because it plays into "normal vs special" tropes are so tiring to me,in such a particular like ... Death Of Art kind of way tbh.
i think bc it's like. it's not based on anything real. and to me, art*/stories are only ever affecting if it says truthful things about life. about real things. chosen ones are not a real thing. tbh to me it's just brainrot from superhero genre / vacuous shonen manga. irl being "a chosen one" is not a thing. it's entirely a pop culture fabrication*.
saying "the timeless child is bad because it makes the doctor a chosen one!!!" it's just nonsense. there's nothing in the episode that suggests anything the doctor did after being brainwashed by division was out of "predetermination" from a higher power. but people have brainwashed themselves from empty ~geek culture~ so much that these days is literally only made to sell toys / collectibles, that's the only framework they have for understanding stories. through comparing it to other stories with the same tired, trite tropes. *abstract art notwithstanding. **well, unless you live in a monarchy, i guess.
