Change Active Directory Domain name from dot local to dot com
In this article, we will learn how to change Active Directory Domain name from dot local to dot com (.local to .com.). Since global DNS does not recognise .local domains, and they lack global uniqueness. Also, they are not suitable for services that require access beyond the local network. While this is generally not problematic for internal domains, it can pose challenges when connecting…

I'm spinning this off of the main thread about tracing the origin of the term "d66" because it's not strictly germane to the topic – none of these examples actually use the term "d66" to describe their dice-rolling methods – but I'm going to post it anyway as a matter of general interest: following a conversation with Tumblr user @notclevr, it appears that before tabletop wargames (and, nearly concurrently, tabletop RPGs) got their hands on the mechanic, the principal (though by no means exclusive) users of the old "roll a six-sided die twice, reading one die as the 'tens' place and the other die as the 'ones' place" trick may have been tabletop American baseball simulators.
The most notable example of the type – and the only well-known example still in publication today – is J Richard Seitz' APBA Baseball, first published in either 1950 or 1951 (accounts vary). In this game, a d66 roll is cross-referenced with a card representing the active player and a "board" representing the current situation on the field:
For example, with Carlton Fisk at bat, a d66 roll of 31 would yield a result of "8". Assuming for the sake of argument that the situation on the field is a runner on first and a grade C pitcher, consulting the "Runner on First Base" board, this corresponds to an outcome of "SINGLE—line drive to left; runner to third".
(This example is, strictly speaking, incorrect, as Carlton Fisk didn't have his major league debut until 1969 and I'm using the wrong lookup tables for any year in which he played, but you get the idea!)
Interestingly, APBA Baseball is not the first game to use this setup. It's heavily derived from Clifford Van Beek's National Pastime, a game whose patent was registered in 1925, though it wasn't actually published until 1930. Even at a glance, the similarities are substantial:
Indeed, though National Pastime's lookup tables are much simpler than APBA Baseball's, where they overlap they're often word for word identical. It's generally accepted that Seitz plagiarised National Pastime without credit when creating APBA Baseball (ironically, given his own famously combative stance toward alleged imitators!), though he was within his rights to do so, as National Pastime had fallen into the public domain by the time APBA Baseball was published.
We can go back even further, though. As far as I've been able to determine, the earliest known tabletop baseball simulator to use d66 lookup tables for resolving plays is Edward K McGill's Our National Ball Game, first published in 1886:
A copy of the game's 1887 US patent application can be downloaded here. This one uses an unusual 21-entry variant of the standard d66 lookup table in which the order of the rolled digits is insignificant, with doubles being half as likely as non-doubles rolls; it's unclear whether McGill was aware of this when he laid out the table. Unlike later incarnations of the genre, there are no individual player statistics, with all at-bats being resolved via the same table.

Adea will thank you to remember that this is her pathetic wet cat, thank you very much. Who among us has not seen a man have a seizure from eating a weird bug he found on the ground, and decided to marry him on the spot? Sometimes you just see a tiny insane philosophy professor in a sweater vest who would die if you didn't protect him, and nature takes over! He's scrunkly, okay? Shut up!
It once again falls to her to save her husband from the results of a sudden fit of gap moe, but she came prepared. She's got those DEVELOPER TOOLS, which, if she understands correctly, are like a technology thing that will tell you what's wrong with someone.
She pokes him with the needle, and...
Error: global entity index not found. No source record was retrieved. Deferring to local entity registry lookup. Error: floating process ID found for local entity "Walter Rehoots", but integrity checksum for "Walter Rehoots" failed. Access to insecure resource blocked. Examine insecure data with "oldtroopsleeve 'Walter Rehoots' --unsafe --pretty-print-source".
What the hell? What does any of that mean? Is this thing broken, or is something more wrong with him than she thought?
...She tests it on herself, and gets the exact same error message, except with her own name. Okay. Uh. Examine insecure data with... what, is it this button? Now she's seeing... just a load of incomprehensible computer nonsense. There's some stuff that's legible, though...
So, you're both "local entities", and have IDs for your names, but there's something called a checksum that isn't working. Maybe you need to get your checksums fixed? Do they make a cream for that?
There's a warning about "excessive data duplication" and "insecure defaults" that doesn't make much sense.
Okay, here's something- an age timestamp. He's... 45?! No, wait, what the- he was 30, last you checked. And- what the hell, you're 43?! No no no no no. That's not true. This thing's broken.
You've got these weird little labels on you with a flower icon next to them- you're labeled "ROBUST LONERS" and he's labeled "SORROW TO LEGS", which doesn't tell you much. Is he catatonic because his legs are sad???
There's a thing in your data called an ARCADE COOKING KIT, which apparently expired a few hours ago. Says here it denied over a thousand requests because they were from the wrong domain. Does this have anything to do with where you woke up?
Walter is "COAL-IMBUED" and you're "ACIDIC PIRATE", which is weird because he's always been big on green energy, and Talk Like A Pirate Day was yesterday.
You... don't find anything useful vis-a-vis snapping him out of this weird signal stabilizer fugue he put himself in, though. He seems... fine, except for all the mysterious crap that's not fine that you can't make heads or tails of. This thing is useless!
Walter interrupts to remind you that she's dead, she's dead, it's all pointless- and you flick him in the head. She's not dead, you tell him- and he says he saw it, saw her corpse being dragged away. You flick him in the head again and ask how and when he saw it, and whether he's sure he wasn't just seeing things.
This gets him quiet, but the kind of quiet where he's thinking. That philosophy brain, asking nerd questions like "why do I believe what I believe".
Both of you, actually, have been very obviously hallucinating a lot of crazy shit this entire time. Like, constantly. Just because he saw his DEAD DAUGHTER doesn't mean she's dead- maybe he was just thinking about how he TRUDGED AHEAD or whatever. You can't give up just because you had a mysterious vision. You are both objectively crazy people right now. It makes no sense to abandon all hope before you've had the chance to, like, get to a hospital and get medical care!
Walter sits there thinking for a couple solid minutes, which you let him do, and then he gets to his feet and wordlessly hugs you tight.
Alright. Okay. What now?

740972072741879808 is absolutely Yves or Luca (or someone close to them they've told about this) lashing out because they're the only ones beside myself who would know that the issue brought up to their server providers was the following thing which they reference in their rant: The idea that their business was not legally registered correctly- including the specific term "LLC" which has not previously been used on this blog at all. I hoped to keep this to myself until a complete resolution had been reached, but I see that they cannot refrain from outright lies, so I am here to set the record straight. The so called "griefing" was a single complaint as shown above by myself to their server host, DigitalStorm, and their web host, GoDaddy (a historically misogynistic company). This is publicly available and legal information to find:
IP and Hosting source checker: https://hostingchecker.com/ WHOIS checker (domain info): https://lookup.icann.org/en/lookup This ONE complaint was valid enough that DigitalStorm took a look at their site and had them add an email that was not present before to the contact button ([email protected]), and they noticeably changed the job descriptions to "freelance"- which means that they were not able to meet the standards to offer true employment, and were not complying with the laws regarding employment. DigitalStorm is a strong and reliable source of legal knowledge, and also frequently removes hate speech from the web/deals with false complaints, so they would not baselessly make Yves and Luca make these changes unless there was actually a real issue present. Yves and Luca are lying by presenting this as a " an attempt to get the website taken down". That is straight up an entire lie- they did not take anything down for safety, they took it down because they were caught not complying with the law/standards.

As an example of one of the many issues: the page for applications says 75+, actual form says 50+. This lie/inconsistency is illegal in disclosure required states. New Job Posting: was not able to grab archives of new forms, if anyone has screenshots that would be great, but they labelled it as a "freelance" job instead, which puts it in the category of contract work/"Content Moderation"- https://web.archive.org/web/20240130204654/https://succubuns.com/news/121.moderator-applications-re-open It is not harassment to keep track of what people have said when they put out outright lies like this. It is not harassment to expect business owners to comply with the law when offering jobs. It is not harassment to show that they are LYING about things that happen, and to show that they are purposefully twisting events. If you DO work for Yves and Luca, you should make yourself aware of the labor laws in your state, as those are what will protect you, regarding contract "freelance" work as well as "content moderation". You should expect to receive a form/information from them to report your income earned from them as taxable- in case of "freelance" it would be a 1099 form. Here's a great article on what kind of form you might get: get- https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tips/self-employment-taxes/a-freelancers-guide-to-taxes/L6ACNfKVW and here is the IRS page on requirements for the employer as well links to the forms: https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small-businesses-self-employed/reporting-payments-to-independent-contractors

Doing domain lookups b/c I'm considering creating and hosting my own website for fun. I just wanna say, "tumblr.art" AND "tumblr.inc" are BOTH available.
#unfortuntely I do not have the $2000 asking price of the people selling these domains#which is proooooooobably why tumblr doesn't have them either

it was a bit difficult with the original website gone, but i managed to track down 505 game's official statement on the steam discussion boards.
it doesn't really answer my question, though, which was "who actually owns indivisible?"
while i was looking for it, though, i found something interesting:
lab zero's website is still up.
its last content updates were in early 2020, and it contains no information about the current status of the company or its projects. CEO mike z fired all remaining staff in early september 2020, and the 505 announcement was made on october 9 the same year.
a domain lookup yields this information:
now, this is very interesting for several reasons. most obvious is the redacted registrant and admin information, but that doesn't mean anything on its own.
i'd like to point out the domain registration and renewal dates. it's curious that it's october 8, exactly one day prior to the 505 games announcement, but i'd venture this is coincidence considering the domain was registered on that date in 2012.
that proves this is the original lab zero website, though, not a mirror registered by someone else under the old domain. it must be mike z paying to keep it up, right? why?

i've been thinking a lot about gunpla lately, hell i am so gunplilled all i can think about is gunpla, but like it's good to have a hobby right? whenever i say that i just keep remembering "i think it's great you have a hobby" which is a line this guy says to his girlfriend about her getting involved in the women's lib movement aka 2nd wave feminism, it's from this like 60's british crime drama about a gay gangster, i think it might be based on a real guy and his autobiography? it's such a brutal belittling of her involvement that she sleeps with the female student he's having an affair with, and the main character is played by that guy, he's not the one that says the hobby line to his girlfriend btw that's a side character and the main character is gay as i said, he's played by that guy, you know, he's been in a bunch of stuff, he was the power hungry bad guy in shazam and also the power hoarding bad guy in john carpenter of mars, which i only know because i literally just watched it tonight with my girlfriend, because she got a new ereader recently right and it has access to all these public domain books for free, so she was reading princess of mars and i was like oh i have heard of that, did you know they made a bad movie from it, so we watched it and yeah it was pretty bad, bad acting bad cgi bad like structural editing, so my gf was then telling me all about how the movie butchered the book, which by the way she wasn't even super hot keen on, but she did point out that it has a cohesive theme about war and turning away from violence and how important it is that it's on mars, mars the god of war, theme of war etc, and the movie butchered it so bad and also it wasn't even called john carter of mars, just john carter, because the marketing team, apparently, decided nobody would see it if it had mars in the title because hollywood is just insanely dumb and it didn't matter because nobody saw it anyway, and apparently there were 2 sequels planned and got cancelled when it bombed and last year the director talked about those sequel plans, which i guess got it into search term lists or something because, and this is so fucked up about our modern culture and it makes my blood boil, if you lookup "john carter trailer" on youtube there's a fuckton of videos titled "john carter 2 teaser trailer" with the same thumbnail that are just, complete lies, there is no sequel or trailer, they just exist to literally bait your clicks and hopefully get ad revenue, because nothing matters anymore, you know i read a thing a while ago about someone struggling with centrelink's bullshit to get unemployment payments, and their job services people kept telling them they needed to be a productive member of society, but their last job had literally been doing mail merge setups for spam email for some shady startup that was almost certainly a scam, and they were just exhausted by like, the system punishing them for quitting that job when it was literally anti-productive, literally making society worse, and that's all those fake trailer videos are, that's all most of the internet is now, but we're still here, still struggling, so much struggling, i am always struggling,
did you know when i spoke to my gp like probably 7 years ago now about getting a referral for adhd assessment, she literally said to my face, this woman with a medical degree, "i don't know why you'd think you need that, you have no problem sitting still in the waiting room", and i was speechless, but i composed myself and begged her to write the referral anyway, and she did except it wasn't for adhd, it was for [redacted] that everyone told me i had but everyone was scared of even touching, and i knew any psych that saw that would rush right past even looking at adhd and nobody was helping with [redacted], so when i saw my copy of the referral cc'd in an email back to me i called her up and was like hey this isn't what i need, i need adhd referral, and she legit said "but dealing with [redacted] is much more important, it could cause you serious bodily damage and even cost you your life if we don't address it" which was the most real and honest thing a doctor had said, so ofc i was like yes fuck it might! that's what i've been saying! so are you finally going to start looking into treatment?? and she said "no, treatment is bad, you could become drug dependent" and i was like, limit my scripts then, do a monitored trial, come on. do something. there was this back and forth like, so you acknowledge it exists and need treatment? yes. and you acknowledge that without treatment it could harm or even kill me? yes. so what treatment is available? oh i can't give you treatment that's dangerous. and i just, couldn't even cope anymore. i stopped seeing that doctor at all, i didn't have a doctor to see. i called the psych i was referred to and they told me they wouldn't see me, taking on a patient with [redacted] would be too risky for their professional reputation. timelines are fuzzy to me, but i'm almost certain that in under a year from that going down i'd end up in hospital needing major surgery, except they didn't do the surgery i needed to repair the damage to my body, they overrode my right to consent and experimented on me instead doing a surgery they wanted to do and i still don't really know what their motivation were, beyond just speculating, ego and ableism, the lawyer told me, off the record, that they'd jist close ranks and use my past teenage trauma against me to defend their removal of my right to consent, as if that had anything to do with what they did….
anyway i'm really into gunpla lately, it's basically all i can think about. just ordered some new weapon packs. gonna have a four-armed assassin girl mech - yes 30 minute missions still counts as gunpla - with matching quad-wield pistols, i've gotten really into the idea of a four-armed gunslinger lately because of this game i've been playing, fun but runs like shit and crashes a lot, and it has a four armed pistol girl in it, and strangely enough there are aliens in john carter (of mars!) that are four armed too, but it's not because of that, it's because of star renegades, the green martians are just coincidence, but man, fuck those fake trailers for a nonexistant sequal of a bad movie, just a drain on society. did you know the guy that helps run the unemployed workers union had to do work for the dole at the ballarat cemetry and centrelink paid private investigators to drive by and make sure they were all doing their mandated unpaid work, is there a word for mandatory unpaid work under constant surveillence?, but he also still had job services appointments to go to which were scheduled during workhours and if he didn't attend he'd have his payments cancelled, but he wasn't allowed time off from his mandatory unpaid work to goto them or he'd be marked noncompliant with work for the dole and have his payments cancelled? homelessness is illegal. that's how you make a productive member of society. how much money do you think centrelink pays the private dicks that spy on the unemployed mandatory unpaid workers? more than unemployment benefits i'm guessing. i know i'm lucky not to be in that system anymore, to be in the disability system instead. lucky. out of the unemployment system because my disability cost me a hand. recently got told that i'm not on the ndis as an amputee, i'm on there for [redacted]. don't know how true that is. i don't even think i have [redacted], they never ran scans, they didn't do tests, it's supposed to be a diagnosis of exclusion, but they didn't bother to exclude anything else first. lucky. there's something deeply wrong with my body and i'll probably never find out what, because last time i tried, i ended up hospitalised under constant guard with no right to consent, no right to withdraw my consent for the experemental shit they did to me, the awful things they put me through to try and make their ego project work. totk got 2nd spot on a youtuber's goty list this week, that's nice. people are scared of [redacted], that's why i don't say it. can you believe people used to be scared of people with cancer, like it was contagious? i remember princess di hugging aids patients, barely. if i don't have a chaperone people in public pull their children away from me, as if my amputation is contagious. they don't even know about [redacted] and they're scared of me, unless i have a friend. i think my nub responds to barometric pressure changes kinda like arthritis, it hurts more when there are sudden shifts in weather. i don't actually know what it's like to have a hand crushed by a frigid hydraulic press, but my brain is assuring me that's what's been happening constantly for three days now. i've been thinking a lot about gunpla lately. i also got a rocket launcher for my beloved dilanza sol, and the kit also comes with a scale mobile worker, which i'm stoked about because ibo kits are hard to come by, and i really enjoyed ibo. it had some problems definitely worth dissecting, but also way more homoerotic tension and overt text than wfm did, even if all you want is yuri i still reckon kudellia and atra have more chemistry than suletta and miorine, fight me. i wonder if that'd get me death threats like my totk post did? also mikazuki is thematically linked forever in my head with-- no i don't want you consolenscences. the reason i refuse to post selfies is that my third worst nightmare is going in to he bakery or fish and chip shop one day and the respective old ladies that work there recognise my tattoos and go "submalevolentgrace???" and know all this
my top two worst nightmares btw are medical torture and child rape.
i've been thinking a lot about gunpla lately.
it's nice to have a hobby.

Reporting Spam Domains
Are you a nerd and wish you had some power to help fight the wave of bots attacking Tumblr lately!
Well do I have a potential trick for you!
You'll notice these spam bots are usually linking to some sketchy looking websites.
This is what we will be focusing on today. REMEMBER, you should still report the bots for spam via Tumblr as they continue working on a way to fight the bots more permanently. In the meantime, it's possible that your average Tumblr user can do even more to combat them!
When you buy a domain name, it is registered to a restraint who has control over the domain. They are required to register it to ICANN, which may or may not tell you who own the domain.
A smart web developer would likely pay to hide this information though, which will be the case for most of these spam domains.
That's not what we care about today. We care about THIS
We see that they bought this domain through namecheap. Namecheap provides the email address [email protected] to report suspicious activity and domains being used for malicious purposes, just like these durn bots!
You can read more about for namecheap specifically, but EVERY domain registrar usually has a way to report abuse:
If you see a spam bot, take note of the domain name. Visit the ICANN Lookup site and input the domain name in question. Either way, make sure you provide as much evidence as possible. Provide links to the tumblr posts and images at the very least.
Afterwards, you will be provided the name of the domain registrar and how to contact them for abuse.
To conclude, I'm not saying you SHOULD do this or you HAVE to do this. It is not really our job to combat spam on social media. BUT, if you're bored and want to give a middle finger to the people making annoying bots to spam your favorite tags and this is fun for you... why not? (I do not enjoy bots, but I do love reporting bots.)
Thanks for reading!
