Pupdate: K got Feelings about a big, luscious dogbed at the store and brought it home.
Tumblr media
Pros - she does fit in it
Cons - she might well disappear into it like a lintball vanishing between the sofa cushions.
Tumblr media
Oh - hmm.
Comfy! Cozy!
Trying to salvage something out of this day. We have all been a little distressed at this:

Ridiculous dog made of pipe cleaners and silly putty. When she curls up on her bed it's very cute, when she sprawls, it's . . disturbing. So I had a piece of upholstery fabric on hand, and thought I'd create a little bolster to augment the bed. Simple! Easy!

Ok . . you just need to . . lean sideways . .

Oh for Pete's sake!!

This is Café and how he wags his tail.
Don’t be mistaken by his cuteness, his fluffiness or his playing pose: this is a cold hearted criminal.
Or a ‘bandindinho” as we say in Brazil.

I chauffeured the crutches-kid to the market. He h-a-t-e-s to ask for help, and I understand that on a visceral level. We did ok. I also picked up a nice, 4-pound corned beef brisket for a good price; it was worth the trip just for that.
Back at home I got ready for my mri - as ready as you can get when you don't really know what you're getting into. Other than the lady at the front desk, who got rather annoyed with me that I didn't know the exact date I hurt my shoulder over two years ago, it was quite easy. Thank heavens for ear plugs. Rolling into the mri tube was a little concerning, but I only had to go in halfway. I got used to the confined space after a couple of deep breaths. Holding still was HARD. I am the queen of fidgets and twitches. I did it, though . . even when my nose started to itch!
I had some trouble feeding the horses this evening. The daylight staying a little later each day helps, but this evening Leo decided he was NOT going to let me halter him. We had quite the little battle over it. That ended with me taking his feed tub away entirely. Dude, if you won't let me tie you (because he will take Hero's feed if he isn't tied while Hero finishes) then you just won't eat.
I put Hero's feed trough outside the fence, fed him there, and walked the dogs into the woods for a while. I swear, Rosalie's getting happier, bouncier, and zoomier every day. It is nice to watch that. I tried lying down on a dead log, got three dog snoots in my face right away, and enjoyed watching the moon through the trees for a while.
I am toasted.
It's not like it was a bad weekend, per se. The weather, although above freezing most of the time, was so wet, raw and windy that it felt much colder than it really was. I did make a lovely batch of rice pudding Saturday morning, which both K and I love.
But the big thing, I think, was having six different study sessions between the two kids, and me trying to wrap my brain around the different topics and provide useful tutoring. That is . . so much effort.
Also, K and I were taking turns taking care of chores that Roommate would usually do, both here and at Home Farm. He's supposed to be putting no weight at all on that leg for at least 4 weeks, and probably longer. I'll be taking him grocery shopping today. He can't even drive himself around, because it's his right that's broken. He considered transporting himself and his dogs and horse back to his parents' house for the interim, but . . well, there's a reason he left the second he turned 18. We'll take care of him.
Today I get an mri on my shoulder. Ideally, someone will say, "Oh, yeah, I can see the problem! Here's how we'll fix it." However, I don't have a whole lot of hope.
Well, I'd better get my overalls on and go slop the horse. Time's a-wastin'.
