started watching severance..so…..obviously i had to make a serverance sabrevine au(those who Know know why)

major spoilers for the show, so all thoughts are hid safely under the cut👍

vic severs immeditely after logan breaks off their relationship. logan had started seeing silverfox, thinking she was a better influence on him. then about 3 months or so later, she mysteriously dies(its a gemma type situation). it doesnt take long for logan to sever too

department X. a newer 2 person department, victor c. working alongside david n. they spend a lotta time organizing military equipment, and theorize maybe theres an apocalyptic war going on topside. but overall, they dont really talk much. 3 months in, kayla s. joins their team. 5 months in, logan h. shows up as well. and he n vic IMMEDIATELY click.

innie vic n logan have a lot smoother of a time falling into a relationship, as well as managing it, due to their lack of memories making them unaware of the reasons for their own issues

they obviously still have reactions n thoughts similar to the shit their outies deal with, feeling deep self hatred while not really knowing why, but theyre easier to deal with due to the lack of context, and they end up helping eachother out with that mutual struggle of mysterious pain

and these guys are basically experiencing the most giddy First Puppy Love of their weird little innie existence. its sappy, its fun, office supplies is getting messed with as they tease eachother, theyre sneaking out to go on lil dates around the maze of their workplace, etc etc

so. the purpose of their department is actually to test replacement of an outies memories. first, outie logans memory of silverfox’s death is replaced with vic being the culprit. and overtime, regular arguments in their relationship gets replaced with more intense abuse, on both sides

their innies start getting flashes of it as a result of it being so early in testing. logan starts to back off from vic a bit, but vic tries to reassure him their outies are different. at somepoint, flashes of their actual relationship slip thru too, and its like having 2 sets of memories. logan cant tell which one to trust...but he decides to trust the vic infront of him, since his own outie seems a lot meaner too

meanwhile their outies are getting flashes of their innies relationship, logan being scared for his innies safety and vic praying that his innie is somehow nicer than he was(even tho in reality he wasnt ever really that bad)

vic catches on that somethings up when he gets a flash of silverfox, obviously still alive, and is over the fucking moon that he didnt actually kill her(which he was inclined to believe cuz he really did want to do it at the time). hes also kinda selfishly hoping that innie logan doesnt start anything with her and just sticks with innie vic this time

at somepoint logan just stops going into work for a couple days out of fear for his innie, and thats when outie vic seeks him out to attempt to explain the stuff hes gotten flashes of

while talking, logan suggests the idea that if theyre working on replacing memories, then maybe they could erase them too…his memories of existing the way his innie does, purely, without having fucked anything up in his life yet, seems a lot more healing than the way he feels now. vic agrees, but…that kinda thing seems like a slippery escapist slope. ‘it aint just about erasing yer past, yer trying to erase yerself aint ya?’ vic’d miss him if he did, even admittedly the bad bits

even with all the abusive memories in their brains, sitting next to eachother they felt something comfortable, something warm, something that made them both feel present in the moment

ig ideally it’d end with them getting the false memories flushed outta them and integrating with their innies, giving their relationship another shot

-HEY so anyone notice how the quarter quell is worse than the other usual games. notice how it takes the people who were already beaten down and beats down on them worse. -katniss is at the bottom of the food chain of Panem. katniss is the disabled, the poc trans women, (obv not literally, im connecting this to real life like the english teachers say to) (but also in the books she might be native? i think the books hinted at it but im not sure if suzanne said it outright) the most silenced voices put up on a stage. she isnt interested in saving panem. she is not the dystopian female main character girlboss. she doesnt want to be here. she doesnt want to change the world (at first). she wants to survive and go home. her existence is enough to shake up all of panem. her survival is enough to change everything. everything that happens after the first book is because she refused to let the capitol kill her.

-peeta is unconditional love, katniss is protection and survival instinct, gale is hate(that still comes from a survival instinct). peeta wants change, katniss wants safety, gale wants revenge. peeta on his own isn't safe, katniss on her own can save herself, and gale on his own kills prim commits friendly fire through blind rage. hatred of oppressors is not enough to change the world. you need love but you also need to be able to protect yourself and people you love. gale's anger motivates katniss and she is tempted to stay with him over peeta, and thats how a survival instinct works too. but you can't run off of just that. there's a reason she didnt end up choosing gale in mockingjay.

-gale is also really similar to katniss. so you can see the different paths the same traits can lead you down

-you see katniss's protective traits with wiress when she keeps saying tick tock and katniss ends up learning from her

-im watching catching fire rn and katniss is running from the jabberjays and just ran into the barrier that separates the wedges. peeta's on the other side consoling her and now im thinking about the fucking peeta is love katniss is survival thing like i have chills. love is consoling the survival instinct

-an underrated message of catching fire is not to underestimate the power of disruption

-thinking about how without peeta, katniss sends that arrow into the dome of the arena in catching fire. and then after that refuses to work with district 13 until they get peeta. so that survival instinct without love has a flare of productive hatred and then it just burns out

It was almost a month ago when it first occured, a strange feeling in the air. It felt stiff and coarse, like he was reading the thoughts of someone in the vicinity but all he could sense at the moment was the sick feeling in their stomach. It was a strange phenomenon, one that he couldnt place for once and so he carried on to his classroom, sitting in his designated seat as per usual. Teruhashi hadn’t yet arrived so he wouldn't have to worry about that noise this early in the day and Kaidou and Nendo seemed to be bickering further away from him than usual. There was you, who was talking to a few friends by the window. Moreso listening in on the conversation than speaking, but he knew you werent quite the talker if the conversation didnt involve things you knew. So you blinked as you watched your friends discuss, eyes occasionally venturing to the clouds outside before you quickly pay attention again. He doesnt know when he had learned that piece of information but he supposes he must’ve picked it up subconsciously. Telepathy always revealed everyone’s secrets to him no matter how much he tried to block it out.

Despite the relatively typical atmosphere in this classroom, that feeling was still amiss in the air as if it lingered in someone, not easy to decipher or find. It disappeared once the lesson began, replaced by the contemplative thoughts of some of the students concentrating and well.. the more lazy thoughts of others. It’s a week after that and , as any day in his life, things dont work out particularly well for him before he’s dragged to the cafeteria to grab lunch with his so called ‘gang’ (Kaidou’s words, not his) consisting of Nendo, Kuboyasu and of course, Kaidou himself. The usual blabber was passing through his ears like sand: Kaidou describing how dark reunion had caused another serious issue nearby and how he had magically solved it all by himself. However, Saiki found the chatter drowned out by that ominous feeling again. It felt like it had worsened this time, like the owner of this was miserable of a sort but as he glances around the place he can't find a hint of it upon any of the faces.

Of course there’s Takahashi grumbling over something stupid again or Toritsuka managing to creep out yet another girl, earning a slap across his face. Teruhashi looks vibrant as ever, the people surrounding her unable to even be upset for a second as they consider it a crime to even frown in her presence, and you and your friend group are chatting away again. Well, not you, like he said earlier, you dont like to involve yourself in matters you dont enjoy. Then as the lunch bell rings and the groups disperse back to the seperate classes, that feeling disappears again and he’s left with Kaidou’s chatter deafening him once more. Good grief, he never seems to get a break.

It’s the week before exams when it happens again; the school is buzzing with stressed students and many praying to God that they get a better grade than the last time. Saiki has never once been bothered about such things, after all, he can easily ace all the tests as he’s mentioned before. That doesn't mean he does though, he prefers to be in the middle, a perfect average preferably but life doesn't seem to let him get that either. Besides, you like taking up the higher spaces on the board, the whole class deems you as the smartest there. When he walks in that morning, he’s not surprised by the sight of pupils surrounding the blackboard you write on, spending the time before class to teach them any topics they’re particularly stuck on. Kaidou seemed to take his advice today, one of the ones at the front of the little semicircle and often asking you questions. Well, hopefully that pays off for him not that it usually does but who is he to deny? You certainly have saved quite a lot of the class the trouble of repeating the year just with some quick morning explanations.

Thats not what he’s quite focused on though, moreso when they disperse and you walk away back to your little friend group, that feeling returns harsher and somehow more overwhelming than the last. He glances around, wondering if one of the students watching you was particularly stressed about the exams next week but nothing noticeable seemed to come to the surface. Before he can investigate further, the bell rings signalling the beginning of class and the feeling is gone just as fast as it came and thus leaving him far more confused than before.

Today is the Friday before the exam week. He’s been hearing yammering thoughts every single day that if he wasn't so used to all these voices he was sure that he’d have a splitting headache by now. Any normal person would but then again, he wasn't very normal. He sat down at his desk as per usual, removing his bag and opening his things whilst the mindless chatter played in the background. That was the panic of the students of course, quickly asking you to solve last minute problems for them. One of them had you slightly stumped, your eyes narrowed as you looked carefully at the board. It wasnt like you knew the answer to everything, of course not, you often admitted to skipping particularly hard questions that left you with no ideas in the slightest. It’s not that, no, it’s not even when you suggest the student take it to the teacher instead— it’s something else entirely that triggers this.

Your friends join you by the board, looking at the question and muttering something about how they’d definitely fail the exam if that topic was on it. You smile for once, finding the words relatable and finally speak up this time. “Me too, I hate this topic the most.”

It’s your friend’s reply that does it. “Oh shut up, you always do well. Stop acting humble, you know it too.”

That feeling hits him so suddenly that he only receives a small chance to realise his own friends approaching him. “Heya earth to Saiki? We were calling ya ages ago.” Nendo waves his large hand in his face, making him pull back immediately and pull the best disgusted face he could before Kuboyasu makes Nendo cut it out. “Didnt you hear? We have free periods to study, no need to sit here and wait around. We’re gonna head to the library, you coming?” When did he ever have a choice? Kusou takes the moment to roll his eyes up before standing, signalling his answer and they turn on their heel to start walking. However, before he joins them he cant help but glance back at you, wondering how you could easily laugh in response to her words when you have such a heavy feeling of dread in yourself from it.

Wednesday. It’s the only day they have two exams in a day but it’s not something many have complained about either. The thing was, the first exam was a science one— of course it was pretty important. However, the second was only a mere world history exam. It was one of the easier tests and even if you failed it, you wouldnt be set back in the slightest. Naturally the tension in the air has eased up a lot after the first exam, leading them into their extended lunch time before the next one. The corridors are empty, most of the students already having grabbed their things from their lockers and heading to go eat their stress away. He’s heading down the stairs, hoping for a moment of reprieve in the farce of putting his bag into his locker since they obviously werent allowed in the exam hall. It’s only when he reaches the last step does he clench the railing, suddenly shook with the sudden feeling of despair. It’s like it radiates throughout the entire hallway, menacing and destructive and he’s sure it would tear out the owner’s heart. As he had previously discovered, it seemed to linger in yours however it had never been quite this bad and he couldnt understand why it was.

Had someone hurt you? Did your friends do something to you?

He walks down the corridor at a somewhat sped up pace because as much as this affected you, it also made his head particularly uncomfortable too. There you stand by your locker in the distance, your voice muffled from the feeling as you seem to.. beg your friends? They’re walking away from you and the situation looks nothing quite like the horror your brain is currently experiencing at this given moment. Soon enough, it’s just the two of you in this corridor and he doesnt know why he’s even approaching you— he just wants that feeling to get out of his head too. “Oh.. Saiki.” You say, voice so soft and a small look of surprise as your lips part. You swallow a little sharply and glance at him and despite his powers, the only thing he can read in your mind is that you’re pretty afraid of inconveniencing him.

“Do you need something?” He realises he’s been staring at you for a moment now and quickly shakes his head, instead pointing at your friends who were turning the corner to the stairs. “They’re just going to go eat, thats all, I’ll catch up to them in a moment.”

You give him a gentle smile and then glance at your locker, pausing before locking it albeit very hesitantly. What? That didnt make sense in the slightest what could be in there?

“So how did you find the test?”

He gives you a thumbs up in return, which only makes your smile brighten. You remind him of Hairo quite a bit, even though you’re not as much of an extrovert as he is. “That's great! I’m sure you’ll do well! You got a perfect average last year, didnt you? Honestly I think that's harder to achieve than the highest places.” You let out a soft laugh alongside your words even though he already knows how awkward you’re currently feeling. He feels just the slightest bit bad for that too; after all he’s the one who just suddenly appeared when you seemed to be feeling particularly low and now you were having to fake a bright smile. “I found the test good too, and I'm sure the next one will be a breeze too. A lot of people say it’s one of the easier ones.”

That confirms for him that it’s not exam stress you’re worried around. Well, at least not right now that’s causing the dread in you. So what is it? You’re both caught of guard when your stomach rumbles, making your cheeks flush in embarrassment and you sheepishly smile. “Arent you going to eat?” He finally asks, well telepathically anyway but no one ever notices.

“Oh right— well it’s in my bag.”

That makes him pause, wasn't your bag in your locker? Why didn't you just take it out?

You seem to take notice of his glance to your locker and this time your thoughts take an extremely nervous turn, your teeth grazing your lip awkwardly as you force a small smile. “Oh— my bag strap got stuck in my locker so I cant quite get it out.”

Even so, you dont ask him to help you or the like, just giving him an awkward smile as he stares at you. “Did your friends go get someone to help?” He says in return and somehow that dreadful feeling feels even worse than before.

“A-ah.. no..” You stammer out, both your hands shoving into your pockets as your teeth grit uncomfortably. “They uh, they didn't care too much. They just- they walked away.” That did not seem normal in the slightest and the way your lips twitched in your fake smile did not help. You always looked so happy with your friends, they looked happy with you— what the hell was happening here?

It takes him no less than a second to notice the way you’re falling apart in your head, chanting softly to yourself to just breathe, smile and carry on. You were silently praying that he’d take no notice of your fidgety behaviour, of your erratic breaths or the dark circles beneath your eyes. It feels weird that for once, someone wants him to go rather than to stay. Usually, he’d take that as a warm opportunity to dash as soon as he could, avoiding the situation altogether.

Before it can escalate, he decided he might aswell just solve the problem at hand, extending his palm facing up to the little keys you hold in your hand for your locker. Your eyes widen and you immediately follow his notion, dropping it into his hand. He steps infront of you, opening the locker and looking at the bag strap stuck there. He was still not quite the best as controlling his strength but he could use telekinesis to make sure this didn't get too out of hand. To be fair, you werent exactly overreacting, it did look like it had got stuck quite badly but thankfully he was a psychic— nothing was ever out of his power. Unbeknownst you to, he’s fiddling with absolutely nothing, his mind undoing the bagstrap until your bag is free again. He quickly plops it into your arms, your shocked face evident before he closes the locker door once more.

“Th-thank you!”

Your smile returns now, bright and full of relief as that feeling slowly dissipates into nothing but a lingering worm eating at my brain.

Satisfied he turns on his heel, already walking down the hallway when you call out his name, rushing to keep up with him. Oh lord, he was starting to regret this action already. “Let me at least treat you to something! I usually have pack lunch so i dont have any money to buy school food but here.”

Your hand digs into your bag, quickly pulling out a plastic container. He cant see beyond the plastic, the aura of the dessert inside holding too much light for him to even imagine. He blinks and doesnt hesitate, taking the coffee jelly from your hands. “I made one for my friends, but you can have it instead! Tell me how it tastes.” You grin and then mumble something about having to revise for the next exam, running off down the hallway again.

Maybe it’s good to do nice things every once in a while, especially now he’s got a delicious snack for free.

TLDR: Got any drawing exercises to recommend?

I’m in loooove with the way you use lines, shapes and colors/shading to show form in your art. The way you draw bodies shows a lot of understanding of the shapes that go into them, and that’s something I often personally struggle with. I’m familiar with the shapes of a face, but when it comes to connecting them to the shapes of the body and so on, I get frustrated that it’s jumbled instead of cohesive.

I was wondering, when you’re looking to practice, whether that’s anatomy, line-making, still life shapes or whatever, do you have any exercises you’ve done and would be willing to share? I’ve been trying to crawl out of the no-art-depression-hole for a bit and want to start with things that don’t take much willpower but help me improve

I might be the worst person to ask this! My relationship with art is not typical and I do not practice mindfully! (I just draw whatever I want and that's my practice, y'know?

Anyways, here's my progress of how I learnt to draw :3

Step 1 is proportions - breaking up the human body into manageable blocks and pieces. And step 2 is learning the muscles that build up the body, and from there you can simplify as needed... Or do that thing anime art kids do and skip directly to the simplified bit! (You probably shouldn't do that but if it's a hobby who cares!)

For specific tutorials, I find that proko is probably the best mix of entertaining/educational content you can find, but aside from that I watch a lot of speedpaints.

As a sort of get rich quick scheme, I think the absolute easiest way to get stupidly good at art is studying perspective - but you at least need a basic understanding of proportions and anatomy before you can draw someone in a funky perspective.

Everything in life is in perspective, and every piece of work you will ever make will have perspective in it. Perspective is sort of like an all-encompassing thing in our reality that you don't realise is there, and maybe even not realise is missing in your work (just that something feels... Wrong) AND LIKE NOBODY EVER TALKS ABOUT IT! WHAT THE FLIP!!!

I don't really have a specific source for learning perspective, because I've been on-and-off trying to wrap my head around it for a few years (I'm still awful at it but I'm getting there...!) here's a video!

I do think that drawing with progression in mind might help, but I think with art (as a hobby) the most important thing is probably love for a special guy and joy of creation. You have to love what you're drawing and the simple act of creating, or it just won't work out. If you're in a depression hole maybe just try creating for the sake of it, and don't give yourself too many expectations :)

Hey, just wanted to reach out to say that I found you pointing out and calling this person was really great and you shouldn't have apologized. It was incredibly true what you said, and to be honest it seems out of touch with the reality of a great deal of the japanese fandom, the nuances and their culture. Also, it was as you pointed out, extreme and may I say rude. I want to mention too that the way it was written, as if entitled of the knowledge and the 'explanation' made it all worse in context of the 'fucked up'. The original poster always gets away by using the 'well-written academic'' statement of their 'metas' as an excuse to do or say and make everyone else agree and if not, uses victim narrative and discourses exactly selecting wording for people to agree on it or feel bad.

I don't know if they tagging you in the way they did made you reblog and apologizing/backing up, but no one thought bad about you pointing it out. On the contrary, a lot of people had been bullied and discriminated by this person when they called them out/disagreed going onto lenghts of sending their friends to harass people, and the other persons can't even defend themselves because they are effectively blocked. I think you were right to call them out publicly.

Thank you very much for this ask. To be completely honest I agree with everything you said here and don't actually feel bad about pointing anything out. I mainly apologised because I didn't want any potentially poor phrasing from my side to cause unnecessary hostility and because I myself have gripes with this person's behaviour but didn't want to cause a scene.

My honest opinion is that they have a serious issue with taking accountability for their own mistakes and highly overestimate their own intellect. If you're reading this, @thegirlwhorideslikeasamurai, sorry if I seem harsh, but it's true. I saw your post lamenting how you're the only academic meta writer / fan in the fandom and I didn't interact then because I honestly do not care enough to start that drama but with the information Blonndiec has just given me, I think it's necessary that someone calls you out.

You're not an academic. You're not beyond the mental capabilities of other fans. You're actually incredibly childish in your metas and analyses and I am not kidding when I say that I was halfheartedly writing essays more academic than every analysis I've seen from you when I was barely a teenager. I don't know how old you are and I frankly don't care. You're not as clever as you think you are.

Also, don't think I didn't notice that you didn't reblog my correction (link here to my correction and here to their "response" for those who didn't see that exchange) of your post so that you could control what your followers saw of the exchange. You're the opposite of an academic. You control information to tailor the narrative, you don't cite your sources properly if at all, you don't format your posts in anything close to how an academic analysis would be, you make unbased claims, you reference posts and canon material without in any way indicating where that information is from, you reference your own (equally unacademic) metas and your conclusions from them without indicating what post it's from or that it's your own theory this new one is based on and instead present it as a common fact, and I could go on and on and on. Your posts are also riddled with logical fallacies and you talk in absolutes and opinions when there's no canon basis to claim such things. I'm sorry, but that's not academic in the slightest.

To be clear, you don't have to be an academic to post on the Internet. You don't have to be anything at all. You could up front be a genuine idiot with no remorse and that's fine. But when you claim to be an academic and also put down the rest of the fandom for not being on your level, you have to be able to back that up. It'd still make you sound like a prick but at least your arrogance would have a basis. It currently does not.

I haven't personally seen the discussions that Blonndiec is referencing and I'm not going to claim anything definitive (because that would be unacademic of me, take notes) but if what they're saying is true and did happen as described, which I have empirical, if anecdotal, evidence to believe could very well be (a friend of mine has personally been blocked by you after they criticised you without actually mentioning your name which I of course can't prove is the reason for the block but the timing is awfully convenient), you should know that you should be ashamed of yourself.

If there's context missing, feel free to enlighten me and call out any incorrect accusations. You have every right to defend yourself. However, I encourage you to cite your sources since you're such an academic. If you don't, then it's just your word against Blonndiec and anyone else who might comment's word and that doesn't prove anything. Don't misunderstand, acephobia and nazi rhetoric should absolutely be called out but only if it's actually happening. False accusations can ruin lives. I hope you know that.

I'm not a fan of calling people out publicly and, again, thank you for this ask, Blonndiec. But considering many of the issues I've personally seen and those I've been informed of by second hand sources were posted publically, I don't really feel bad about calling this out. I could do a full breakdown of just the insulting "academic" comments alone and how there's no academia to be found in said academic metas and, Samurai, if you give me reason to, I will show exactly what I mean point by point (and academically just to give you an example of even low level academia).

If you respond to this, do it in a reblog. That's what a real academic would do. If I'm wrong and you can prove it, you'd have no reason to not show my post in your rebuttal. If I'm right, you'd have every reason to be upfront about your mistakes and how you intend to rectify them. There's nothing wrong with being wrong but there's a lot wrong with refusing to admit to it in a way that lets others peer review you (academic thing, look it up) and come to their own conclusions about the situation. That's what you did when you just @'ed me instead of reblogging my response. A true academic wouldn't hide a peer review. You'd know that if you were one.

One of my mutuals opinions is the "bro code" thing, that Curly is one of those guys who wouldn't care about the victim because the perpetrator is his friend and I'm really banging my head on the wall like that other anon. I've only played through the game once but Curly's behaviour/reactions etc read completely different from the "bro code" thing and I have to wonder if my mutual and I even played the same game.. like the constant digs at him from Jimmy, his body language in his face reveal and so on like you mentioned in your post. While this game is a little different obviously, it kind of reminded of a point in Alice Madness Returns that makes it very clear that Alice's pain blinded her to the abuse of the other children and her failure to act earlier because of it. Curly is guilty of a similar inaction but it doesn't change the fact he was a victim of Jimmy too. I don't think I can look at it any other way because both of these games have really stuck with me.

I genuinely think it really is the idea that people want a simple easy to blame problem and the idea that the only relatable victims of abuse are those that "surpass" it or do a lot to help others. When it comes to victims, especially those that don't fit the typical demographics, who either accidently perpetuate it, enable it or aren't ideal in some way shape or form, people jump to ignore what they went through as it's easier than dealing with those conflicting sentiments.

The bro-code conversation in Mouthwashing stems from a concept I generally dislike that there had to be something about Curly that made him meet or keep being friends with someone like Jimmy. I think people genuinely underestimate how many like decent and good people just know an asshole or are friends with someone who is really bad outside of their view/established dynamics. The game makes it clear none of the inaction against Jimmy is because of a lack of care, it is a lack of understanding from the privaleged postions they have as men to not have to worry about what Anya does/went through and the type of extremes men like Jimmy will go through to cover it up. They are all too preoccupied in their own strifes.

Another thing I see being oversaturated the idea that you have to be a freak, misanthrope or have a disorder to do the thing Jimmy does. The game is an escalation, it's a spiral that I don't see people comment on that Jimmy was not likely having the mood swings and episodes of rage/frustration we were seeing in the game. This is after they all start experiencing the worst moments in their lives that he got THAT openly bad. Of course, this is just my interpretation but much like in real life, people that go to extremes like that usually live mundane lives. It's a pressure cooker affect to where the stress made them pop. It's self inflicted but still the case.

I really think people need to be more willing to acknowledge that not everything needs to be an extreme or in black and white or easy to understand. It doesn't need to be happy or have an answer or solution, especially in the cases where the abused sadly helps perpetuate what they experience. It's not he should've known better from experience or shouldn't he have known what could've happened because victims tend to not like to think in matters of the worst. Not to mention, especially in cases of abuse where it feels so personally directed that you don't expect to happen to someone else.

funnily enough these people get mad at others for "expecting Debbie to be an innocent angel and hating on her for acting out as a result of trauma" (also agreed, debbie does deserve more sympathy, she can't be expected to grow up to be a perfect saint when she's been through so much) yet seem to hold Fiona to the same unattainable standards and put her on a pedestal as if she wasnt a child that was forced to intensely grow up while never actually being raised
