Retrograde Planets

A retrograde planet and its effects is an area subject to a diversity of opinions. Those familiar with basic astronomy know that planets only appear to change their forward motion by standing still for a short while (stationary), then moving backward in their orbit relative to an observer on earth (retrograde), and then returning to their forward motion (direct).
Philosophically, many astrologers interpret retrograde motion as causing more of the planetâs effects to manifest. According to the formulas in shadbala (a Vedic planetary strength calculation system), retrograde makes the planet stronger. Note that this does not mean it makes the planet better, nor does it mean the planet is required to be interpreted in a specific way.A planet in retrograde is held by many to exhibit more of what it already has whether positive or negative. Some state that a retrograde planet causes the influence of the planet to reverse. Some indicate that you interpret the retrograde planet as having the influence of the sign ahead, pulling that influence back into the approaching sign.
Ayurvedic physicians report that health problems tend to manifest more during retrograde periods or with people who have strong influences from retrogrades in their charts.I have found that the loitering retrograde motion throws off the energy of a planet and does not allow it to flow in a normal fashion. The house occupied by the retrograde planet is not allowed to function at its best.
There is a principle, given by Maharishi Parasara that supports this somewhat. The sage states that a retrograde planet will reverse the effects of an exalted or debilitated planet.
There is not much written in astrological literature about retrograde planets. As you know, the Sun and Moon are never retrograde. The nodes of the Moon are almost always retrograde, with occasional states of direct motion and infrequent stationary âmotionâ when lingering between forward and reverse. You can see this motion in panchangas (sidereal planetary almanacs or ephemerides), which show true motion of planets.

Mars Retrograde
Keywords Action in Reverse
Mars is normally the planet of fire, warriors, action, and initiative. When retrograde, Mars becomes less inclined to take action the person needs to have a âfireâ lit under them. Sometimes the person will let a situation get critical in order to use that crisis, either consciously or unconsciously, to drive them to act. These people can be very frustrating in that they will often wait until the last minute to do something. The pressure of being forced to act supplements the weakness of retrograde Mars.
When Mars is retrograde by transit, you should consider it an unfavorable time for actions that need the supporting energy of Mars. It would be an inauspicious time for starting new projects, buying or building a house, activities with the siblings, lawsuits, going to war or entering a competition, marriages, business contracts, starting a new business, buying equipment, working with chemicals and fire, undergoing surgeries or dental work, or the like.
Mercury Retrograde
Keywords Thinking in Reverse
These people think in a more intuitive manner and are most likely right brain dominant. Right brain thinking is more spatially oriented, comprehends through recognizing patterns, and arrives at conclusions without seeming to go through the more observable steps of logic and reason. This does not mean they are wrong. In fact, they are often right, and quickly so.
If they are around a lot of analytical people, they have to go back, ârewind,â and figure out for themselves how to state what they thought In terms of numbers and formulas instead of symbols and metaphors. They can drive analytical people crazy because of the seemingly discontinuous manner in which they, the Mercury retrogrades, think. They are not linear.

Jupiter Retrograde
Keywords Expanding in Reverse
Retrograde Jupiter seems to create bargain hunters. They are always looking for a better deal. Jupiter is the planet of expansion, so when it is retrograde, it motivates the person to try to win back what was lost. Getting a good deal, calling for return of loans, redeeming coupons, getting rebates, and the like all indicate the flavor of retrograde Jupiter.
This can be a problem in relationships in that the person is always considering something better, beyond what they have in their current partnership. These persons are often successful in disaster situations They donât pay attention to how it wonât work, they just go ahead. They are also quick to spot an opportunity for profit during times of disaster that others might miss. Conversely, they might smell disaster before others do and get out ahead.
A danger with Jupiter retrograde is a lack of timely response to new opportunities. Laziness or too much optimism can lead these people to miss obvious benefits. Jupiter retrograde becomes interested in projects that have become disregarded or weak. They can still see the value in that event or person, and are willing to take it on for repair and rejuvenation.
Since Jupiter is still naturally inspiring, these retrogrades can feel their self worth expand by helping rejected or abandoned people, projects, and companies become better.

Venus Retrograde
Keywords: Loving in Reverse
Venus retrograde (along with Venus conjunct Rahu or Ketu) can indicate an unusual interest in love. These people donât seem to be stimulated by customary means. Socially, they donât fit into the mainstream. Often people with this position become celibates or the reverse, sexual âcelebrants.â They can swing between opposites averse or perverse.
Idealism about love forms to such a high level of expectation that nobody could meet it. The end result is a feeling of not being loved. Often these people turn to religion, because it seems easier to love God and God does have a lot of love. Sometimes when this Venus is very afflicted, the person could be mistreated in love or have very traumatic experiences with those they love.
Venus retrograde people donât always make the best or happiest marriage partners. Finding a fulfilling, lasting relationship is at least a challenge for them. They can be at odds with the traditional philosophical and social aspects of partnering. Sometimes these people prefer the company of their own sex, either through many friends of the same gender or through intimate same sex relationships.
A transit of retrograde Venus can put oneâs love life into a spin, causing disinterest or increased interest usually the opposite of oneâs normal state.

Saturn Retrograde
Keywords: Stability in Reverse
Saturn is a planet of seclusion and renunciation. Often people with Saturn retrograde become more self isolating, monastic, and even antisocial. They feel like they are alone; no one understands them. Actually afraid of rejection, they act as if they couldnât care less and sometimes reject others first before it can happen to them.
Fatalism and pessimism cloud their life. It seems hard for them to go on during certain periods. They can get withdrawn, grim, even depressed. In their isolation, they can become more nervous and fearful even paranoid or agoraphobic.
One good facet is that Saturn generally lets up as a person matures and gains more life experience. So if these people can hold on in their early years, or in the early stages of any life event, they should be okay. We are intended, in this life, to enjoy or to not mind too much Saturn retrogrades just need to remember that.
Thx for reading
Sending much love and blessings

masterlist | next part
The conference room felt too small, too airless for the bombshell that had just been dropped. Y/N stared at her parents, certain she had misheard them.
"I'm sorry, what did you just say?" Her voice sounded distant, even to her own ears.
Her father, straightened his already impeccable posture. As CEO of Seoul's largest private medical group, he never made requests; he issued commands. "Your engagement to Jeon Wonwoo will be announced next month. The wedding is scheduled for spring."
"Engagement? Wedding?" Y/N's coffee cup clattered against its saucer. "To Jeon Wonwoo? The tech heir? I've barely exchanged ten words with him!"
Her mother's perfectly manicured hand reached across the polished conference table. "Darling, the Jeons are an excellent family. Their conglomerate is expanding into medical technology. This mergerâ"
"Merger?" Y/N stood abruptly, her chair scraping against the floor. "I'm not a business asset to be traded!"
"Lower your voice," her father hissed, glancing toward the door. "This is still a hospital."
Y/N inhaled deeply, the familiar antiseptic smell grounding her. Yes, Seoul Medical Centerâher workplace, her sanctuaryâwas now the setting for this life-altering ambush.
"I'm old enough to make my own decisions."
Her father's expression hardened. "While you waste your medical degree playing nurse, the rest of us are securing the future of this institution."
The familiar barb stung, but Y/N had grown used to it over her years being a nurse. What she couldn't get used to was the idea of an arranged marriage.
"This discussion is over," her father announced, gathering his papers. "The Jeons are expecting us for dinner tomorrow. Wear something appropriate."
As her parents exited, leaving her alone in the conference room, Y/N sank back into her chair. Her phone buzzed with a notification for her afternoon rounds, a reminder of the life she'd builtâthe life that was now being dismantled without her consent.
"They can't be serious!" Alexys slammed her lunch tray down, causing several heads to turn in the hospital cafeteria. "Are we living in the Joseon dynasty?"
"Lower your voice," Dr. Ela Song whispered, sliding into the seat beside Y/N. "The walls have ears, especially when the CEO's daughter is involved."
Y/N pushed her salad around aimlessly. "They're dead serious. Apparently, the contracts are already being drafted."
"Contracts?" Alexys scoffed, her lab coat still bearing traces of what looked suspiciously like the methylene blue from the pathology lab. "For a marriage? Who does that anymore?"
"Rich people," Ela replied matter-of-factly, carefully separating her kimchi from the rest of her lunch. "Trust me, I know. My parents still haven't forgiven me for marrying Mingyu instead of the Chinese pharmaceutical heir they picked out."
Y/N looked up at her friend. Despite coming from immense wealth herself, Ela had chosen love over family expectations, a path that had cost her dearly. "How did you do it? Stand up to them, I mean."
Ela's expression softened. "I knew what I wanted. Do you?"
The question hung between them. What did she want? Y/N had spent years defining herself by her workâthe midnight emergencies, the precious moments with patients, the medical missions to remote villages where her skills made a tangible difference. The thought of trading that for corporate functions and producing heirs made her stomach churn.
"I want my life," she finally said. "My career. My freedom to go on medical missions. Not... whatever this is."
Alexys paused mid-bite. "Then you need to find a way out of it."
"How? My father has made it clear this is non-negotiable."
Alexys grinned mischievously. "What if you make yourself so undesirable that this Wonwoo guy backs out? Men hate clingy women, right? Or maybe develop some disgusting habits?"
Despite everything, Y/N laughed. "You're suggesting I start picking my nose at business dinners?"
"I'm serious!" Alexys insisted. "Or what ifâ"
"What if you just talked to him?" Ela interrupted pragmatically. "This Wonwoo person might be just as trapped as you are."
The thought hadn't occurred to Y/N. In her mind, Jeon Wonwoo had been a faceless corporate puppet, willingly participating in this archaic arrangement. But what if he was another victim in their parents' chess game?
"Nurse Y/N to Emergency, Nurse Y/N to Emergency."
The overhead page pulled Y/N from her thoughts. She gathered her barely-touched lunch.
"Duty calls," she sighed, standing up. "I'll figure something out. I have to."
As she hurried toward the emergency department, a plan began forming in her mind. If Wonwoo was as reluctant as she was, perhaps they could form an alliance. A temporary arrangement with a predetermined expiration date. They could pretend just long enough to satisfy their families, then orchestrate some kind of falling out.
It was desperate, perhaps even foolish. But as Y/N pushed through the swinging doors of the ER and the familiar controlled chaos enveloped her, she knew one thing with absolute certainty: she would not give up the life she had fought so hard to build.
Seungcheol was already gloved up when Y/N entered the trauma bay, his calm presence a welcome sight amid the flurry of activity.
"MVA, three minutes out," he called to her, his eyes crinkling with the smile hidden beneath his surgical mask. As the ER's most experienced trauma nurse, Y/N was always his first choice for critical cases.
She nodded, slipping into the familiar routine with practiced ease. Gloves, gown, maskâthe ritual momentarily pushed aside her personal crisis.
"Heard you got called to the executive floor earlier," Seungcheol remarked as they prepared the crash cart together. "Everything okay?"
Y/N hesitated. Despite Seungcheol being her closest friend at the hospital, something held her back from sharing her current predicament. The situation felt too raw, too complicated to explainâespecially to someone whose opinion mattered so much to her.
"Just quarterly performance reviews," she lied smoothly, checking the laryngoscope light. "Nothing exciting."
He studied her for a moment, clearly sensing there was more to the story, but the wail of approaching sirens saved her from further questions.
For the next three hours, Y/N lost herself in the work she lovedâstabilizing patients, anticipating needs before they were voiced, bringing order to chaos. Here, in the ER, she wasn't the reluctant heiress of the medical group; she was simply Nurse Y/N, respected for her skills and dedication.
By the time her shift ended, Y/N had almost convinced herself that she could find a way out of her predicament. Almost.
"You look like you could use this," Seungcheol said, appearing beside her locker with a steaming cup of coffeeâmade exactly how she liked it, with a splash of almond milk and no sugar.
"You're a lifesaver," she murmured gratefully, accepting the cup.
"Rough shift," he commented, leaning against the lockers. "You handled that crush injury like a pro, though."
Y/N welcomed the shift to professional topics. "The ortho team said we saved his arm. Sometimes I forget why we do this, and then days like today happen."
Seungcheol smiled, the kind of smile that usually made her day brighter. Today, however, she couldn't fully return it, her mind still preoccupied with tomorrow's meeting with Wonwoo.
"You seem distracted," he observed. "Sure there's nothing you want to talk about?"
Y/N took a measured sip of her coffee, buying time to compose her thoughts. "Nothing worth mentioning. Just tired." She forced a lighter tone. "Tell me about that new protocol Dr. Kim was discussing yesterday. The one for pediatric traumas?"
She could see Seungcheol wasn't entirely convinced by her deflection, but he respected her boundaries enough not to push. As he launched into an explanation of the new protocols, Y/N nodded along, grateful for his friendship yet oddly relieved to keep her impending engagement privateâat least for now.
Some burdens, she decided, were better carried alone until she had a clearer path forward. Perhaps after meeting Wonwoo tomorrow, she'd have more answers than questions.
"Whatever's going on," Seungcheol said suddenly, interrupting his own explanation, "just remember I'm here if you need anything. No questions asked."
The simple offer of support without demands for explanation touched Y/N deeply. "I know," she said, her throat unexpectedly tight. "Thank you."
As they parted ways in the hospital parking lot, Y/N felt a strange mix of guilt and resolve. Seungcheol deserved her honesty, but until she understood her own situation better, silence seemed the wiser choice. Tomorrow, she would meet Jeon Wonwoo, and perhaps then the path ahead would become clearer.
The Jeon estate was exactly as ostentatious as Y/N had expectedâa modern glass and steel structure perched on one of Seoul's most exclusive hillsides, overlooking the city like a watchful sentinel. As the security gates parted for her parents' Mercedes, Y/N smoothed down her conservative navy dress, chosen specifically to project seriousness rather than bridal potential.
"Remember to smile," her mother murmured as they approached the entrance. "First impressions are everything."
Y/N bit back a retort. If her parents wanted a corporate puppet, they should have groomed Haerin for the role. Her younger sister would have thrived in this world of strategic alliances and business dinners.
The thought of Haerin triggered a pang of longing. If only her sister were here instead of "finding herself" in Italy. Their last conversation replayed in her mind:
"You should be the heir," Y/N had insisted during their video call. "You actually want this life."
Haerin had just laughed, the Mediterranean sun glinting in her hair. "I just want to be in Italy and be rich."
"You just want to be in Italy and be rich." Y/N mocked in sing-song tone.
"Yes, thank you, next!" Haerin had quipped, ending the discussion with her typical breezy dismissal.
Now, as a stern housekeeper ushered them into an expansive foyer, Y/N wished for just a fraction of her sister's carefree attitude.
Mr. and Mrs. Jeon awaited them in a sitting room that could have been featured in an architectural magazineâall clean lines, expensive minimalism, and strategic splashes of color. Y/N instantly recognized Jeon Siwoo from business magazines, his silver hair and commanding presence befitting the CEO of one of Korea's largest tech conglomerates.
Introductions were made, pleasantries exchanged, but Y/N barely registered the conversation. Her attention was fixed on the conspicuous absence of her supposed fiancé.
"Wonwoo sends his apologies," Mrs. Jeon explained, noticing Y/N's wandering gaze. "He was called away to handle an emergency at our Busan facility. He's flying back tonight and is looking forward to meeting you properly tomorrow."
Y/N couldn't decide if she was relieved or frustrated by the delay. On one hand, it postponed the inevitable awkwardness; on the other, it prolonged her anxiety.
"Perhaps it's for the best," her father said smoothly. "The young people can meet privately tomorrow. Sometimes these arrangements are better discussed without parental interference."
Mr. Jeon nodded in agreement. "Wonwoo will pick Y/N up at noon. I suggest lunch at the Sky Gardenâprivate, yet public enough for propriety."
Y/N fought to keep her expression neutral as her future was arranged like a business meeting. Tomorrow, she would meet Jeon Wonwoo, and everything would change. Her mind raced with questions: Would he be as reluctant as she was? Would he consider her plan? Or would he be exactly like their parents, seeing her as nothing more than a beneficial merger?
As the evening progressed through an elaborate dinner where business dominated the conversation, Y/N remained largely silent, mentally rehearsing what she would say to Wonwoo tomorrow. By the time they left, she had a clear strategy: she would be direct, practical, and unemotional. This was a negotiation, nothing more.
The following morning dawned bright and crisp, autumn painting Seoul in shades of gold and crimson. Y/N had barely slept, her mind cycling through various scenarios of how her meeting with Wonwoo might unfold.
At precisely noon, her phone pinged with a message from an unknown number:
I'm outside your building. Black Tesla. - Wonwoo
Direct and to the point. Perhaps this was a good sign. Y/N grabbed her purse and headed downstairs, her heart hammering against her ribs despite her determination to remain calm and collected.
The sleek black car was idling at the curb, its electric engine silent. As she approached, the driver's door opened, and Jeon Wonwoo stepped out.
Y/N faltered momentarily. The man before her was not what she'd expected. Business publications typically showed him in formal attire at corporate events, looking serious and unapproachable. Today, dressed in dark jeans and a simple white button-down with rolled sleeves, he looked younger, more approachableâand annoyingly handsome, with sharp features softened by warm eyes behind round glasses.
"Y/N," he said with a slight bow. "It's nice to finally meet you properly."
His voice was lower than she'd anticipated, with a gentle quality that didn't match her mental image of a cutthroat tech executive.
"Likewise," she responded automatically, accepting his gesture to enter the car.
The interior smelled of new leather and something elseâa subtle, clean scent that she assumed was his cologne. As he slid into the driver's seat, Y/N steeled herself. Handsome or not, this man represented everything she was fighting againstâthe loss of her autonomy, the end of her carefully constructed life.
"I know a place that's more private than the Sky Garden," Wonwoo said as he pulled into traffic. "If that's alright with you. Somewhere we can actually talk."
Y/N turned to study his profile. Was it possible he had his own agenda for this meeting?
"I'd prefer that," she admitted. "I have some things I'd like to discuss."
A ghost of a smile touched his lips. "I thought you might."
The drive was mostly silent, but not uncomfortably so. Wonwoo seemed content to focus on navigating Seoul's busy streets, occasionally pointing out a landmark or asking a neutral question about her work. Y/N provided brief answers, saving her energy for the real conversation ahead.
He eventually parked near a secluded botanical garden, leading her to a small café nestled among trees just beginning to turn color. The place was nearly empty, offering the privacy both apparently craved.
After they orderedâhe knew precisely what kind of tea she preferred, which was mildly disconcertingâWonwoo leaned forward, his expression serious.
"I think we should address the elephant in the room," he said directly. "This arranged marriage."
Y/N appreciated his straightforwardness. "Yes, we should."
"I understand this must be difficult for you," he continued, surprising her with his perception. "Being told who to marry, having your future decided without your consent."
Something in his tone made Y/N pause. He didn't sound like someone equally trapped in this arrangement; he sounded like someone trying to be understanding of her predicament.
"Isn't it difficult for you as well?" she probed.
Wonwoo's eyes met hers, and for a fleeting moment, something unreadable flickered in their depths. "My situation is... different."
Before she could ask what he meant, their drinks arrived. Y/N wrapped her hands around the warm mug, gathering her courage.
"I have a proposition," she said once the server had left. "A way for both of us to satisfy our families without actually committing to a lifetime together."
Wonwoo raised an eyebrow, his expression cautiously interested. "I'm listening."
"We pretend," Y/N stated simply. "We go along with the engagement, play the happy couple in public. Meanwhile, we live separate lives as much as possible. After a suitable periodâmaybe a year or twoâwe stage a falling out. Something believable but not scandalous. We part ways amicably, our families maintain their business connections, and we both regain our freedom."
She held her breath as Wonwoo considered her words, his expression thoughtful. After what felt like an eternity, he spoke:
"And what if it doesn't work?"
"What do you mean?"
"What if our parents don't accept our breakup? What if they push us back together?"
Y/N hadn't considered this possibility. "Then... we make the falling out more dramatic. Irreconcilable differences. Something they can't fix."
Wonwoo studied her for a long moment, his gaze so intent that Y/N fought the urge to squirm in her seat.
"Three years," he finally said.
"Excuse me?"
"Not one or two. Three years. That's how long we commit to this charade. It needs to be believable." He leaned forward slightly. "If we announce the breakup too soon, they'll know it was planned."
His logic was sound, though the thought of maintaining a fake relationship for three years was daunting. Still, three years of pretending was better than a lifetime of reality.
"Three years," she agreed tentatively. "But with conditions. I maintain my career. I continue my medical missions. No children, obviously."
"Agreed," he nodded. "And I have conditions as well. We live together in the house my parents have already purchased. Separate bedrooms, of course," he added quickly, seeing her expression. "But we need to appear committed. They'll expect it."
Y/N swallowed hard. Living together would complicate things significantly. "Any other conditions?"
Something shifted in Wonwoo's expressionâa subtle change she couldn't quite identify. "Just one. We make a genuine effort to know each other. To be friends, at least. Three years is a long time to live with a stranger."
The request was reasonable, even practical. If they were to convince the world of their relationship, they needed to understand each other.
"Alright," she conceded. "Friends. But nothing more."
Wonwoo extended his hand across the table. "Then we have a deal. Our three-year plan begins now."
As Y/N placed her hand in his, she couldn't shake the feeling that she was missing somethingâsomething in the way his hand lingered around hers, something in the quiet intensity of his gaze.
What she didn't know, what she couldn't know, was that Jeon Wonwoo had just agreed to a plan that aligned perfectly with his own agendaâthree years to make the woman he'd admired from afar fall genuinely in love with him.
The house was beautifulâY/N had to admit that much. Nestled in a quiet neighborhood that somehow managed to be both exclusive and understated, the modern three-bedroom structure was nothing like the ostentatious mansions their parents inhabited. If she had to be trapped in a fake engagement, at least the cage was gilded.
"Your things arrived this morning," Wonwoo said as he unlocked the front door. "I had them placed in the master bedroom. I've taken the room down the hall."
She followed him inside, noting with surprise the warmth of the interior. She'd expected cold minimalism like his parents' home, but this space was invitingâclean lines softened by natural materials, large windows filling the rooms with light, and carefully chosen art that seemed to reflect both Korean tradition and modern sensibilities.
"Did you decorate this?" she asked, running her fingers along a handcrafted wooden shelf.
Wonwoo shook his head. "A designer handled most of it, but I made some adjustments. I wanted it to feel like a home, not a showpiece."
Y/N glanced at him curiously. There it was againâthat disconnect between the corporate heir she'd imagined and the thoughtful man before her.
"Let me show you around," he offered, leading her through the space.
The tour ended in a kitchen that would make a professional chef enviousâstate-of-the-art appliances, expansive countertops, and a view of the small but immaculately landscaped garden.
"Do you cook?" Y/N asked, noting how at ease Wonwoo seemed in this space.
"It's one of my few hobbies," he admitted. "Work doesn't leave time for much else." He hesitated, then added, "I thought I might make dinner tonight. If you're comfortable with that. Consider it a housewarming."
The offer surprised her. In her family, cooking was the staff's responsibility; the idea of the heir to a major corporation preparing dinner was foreign.
"I'd like that," she found herself saying.
Later, as she unpacked in her new bedroom, Y/N's phone buzzed with messages from Ela and Alexys:
Well??? Did you meet him? Is he a troll? A robot? DETAILS, WOMAN! - Alexys
Hope you're okay. Call if you need anything. Mingyu says Wonwoo is actually decent, for what it's worth. - Ela
Y/N blinked at Ela's message. "Wait, Mingyu knows Wonwoo?"
As if on cue, her phone rang with Ela's call.
"You didn't know?" Ela sounded surprised when Y/N asked. "They've been friends since university. Mingyu never mentioned him because, well, you know how my husband isâhe doesn't like to name-drop."
Y/N sank onto her new bed, processing this connection. "What else does Mingyu know about him?"
"Just that he's not like other chaebol heirs. Works ridiculous hours, actually earned his position rather than having it handed to him. Mingyu says he's brilliant with technology but awkward with people." Ela paused. "Did you propose your plan?"
"Yes," Y/N confirmed, lowering her voice although she was alone in the room. "Three years of pretending, then a clean break."
"And he agreed?" Ela sounded skeptical.
"Surprisingly easily. I think he's as trapped as I am."
There was a strange pause before Ela spoke again. "Y/N... did you consider that he might have his own reasons for agreeing?"
Before Y/N could respond, a gentle knock on her door interrupted the conversation.
"I need to go," she told Ela quickly. "I'll call you tomorrow."
She opened the door to find Wonwoo standing there, sleeves rolled up further and an apron tied around his waist. The domesticity of the image was so at odds with what she knew of him that Y/N momentarily stared.
"Dinner's almost ready," he said, seemingly unaware of her reaction. "Nothing fancy, just some doenjang jjigae and banchan."
"That sounds perfect," she replied, following him downstairs.
The kitchen was filled with mouthwatering aromas, the countertops lined with small dishes of perfectly prepared side dishes. As they settled at the dining table with steaming bowls of stew, Y/N found herself genuinely impressed.
"This is delicious," she admitted after her first bite.
A pleased smile curved Wonwoo's lips, transforming his serious face. "My grandmother's recipe. She insisted I learn to cook for myself, even though my parents thought it was beneath me."
"Your grandmother sounds wise."
"She was," he said softly, and Y/N noted the past tense with a pang of empathy.
They ate in companionable silence for a while, the awkwardness of their situation temporarily set aside. It was strange, Y/N thought, how quickly the human mind adapted to new circumstances. This morning, she had been dreading meeting Jeon Wonwoo; now, she was sharing a home-cooked meal with him as they embarked on a three-year deception together.
"I've been thinking about our arrangement," Wonwoo said as they finished eating. "We should establish some ground rules. Beyond what we've already agreed on."
Y/N nodded. "That makes sense."
"For instance, we should discuss how we handle public appearances, family obligations, holidays..."
"And dating," Y/N added, thinking ahead. "If we're going to be living separate lives, we need parameters for discretion."
Something flickered in Wonwoo's eyesâso briefly Y/N thought she might have imagined it. "Of course," he said evenly. "Discretion would be paramount."
Their conversation continued late into the evening, mapping out the contours of their pretense. By the time Y/N retreated to her bedroom, she felt surprisingly at ease with the arrangement. Wonwoo was reasonable, practical, and seemingly as committed to maintaining their independence as she was.
As she prepared for bed in her new home, Y/N remembered Ela's question: Did you consider that he might have his own reasons for agreeing?
She dismissed the thought. Whatever Wonwoo's reasons were, they aligned with her goals. That was all that mattered. Tomorrow would be another day of adjustments, of learning to navigate this strange new reality. But for tonight, at least, she could sleep knowing she had found a way to protect the life she cherished.
In his own room down the hall, Jeon Wonwoo sat at his desk, a small smile playing on his lips as he closed the leather-bound journal where he'd been writing. On its cover, inscribed in his neat handwriting, were the words:
âOur three year plan.â

Do we ever see Escargon move like a snail? I canât remember seeing him move, or if we did, I donât remember seeing his lower body - just his upper half.
inspired by the foot like part of his body on your comm
(in reference to this phenomenon. footy)

those "feet" are canon! they're funny. here they are in the show:
i like to imagine them as similar to the edge of an irl snail's foot, which you can see in this picture of one of my pet snails:

...but that's not a hard and fast rule for me. the way i draw the anatomy of his foot depends on the piece.
interestingly enough, these feet (which i'll call toes from here on out to differentiate them from the foot muscle that is technically the majority of his body) aren't prevalent on his model sheets; they seem to be a trait gained and dramatized as artists continued drawing him throughout the show's run.
now, in terms of how he moves... well, i could just show you. or i could infodump about him and snails all in one.
(sorry i can't readmore this one, fellas; it breaks the post. you're trapped in here with me.)
escargon moves around a whole lot, really! he's quite fast, so it's easy to miss.
episode 9 gives us this shot of him chasing lololo and boy-kirby:
but, hmmm. i don't think it's the only instance of him moving in this classically gastropod-esque manner, with his foot rippling across the ground, but it is probably one of the few. he doesn't move like this very often.
instead, as the show progresses, it becomes much more common that he steps around on his toes. here they are at their vaguest in episode 19:
and 25, hitting us with some very leg-like anatomy:
there are more and technically earlier examples than this; 8, 11, 12, 17... etc.
the above examples are him moving fast, but even when moving slowly -- like in 25 once more, as well as 73 -- it appears that snails primarily drag themselves along using their toes.
it's very very cute. like a dress. <3
but what does all this have to do with irl snails?
it's important to know that irl snails have two gaits: adhesive crawling and loping.
adhesive crawling is when a snail leaves its foot planted entirely on the ground, moving forward via muscle contractions and slippery mucus. with this gait, they leave a continuous trail of said mucus.
loping involves a snail only partially planting themselves on the ground, arching their foot as they move and leaving a discontinuous trail of mucus. they're still propelled forward by contractions, but look almost as if they're dragging themselves forward on "toes"...
certainly less dramatic than the show, but hey. notable enough for me!
the reason snails use each gait is believed to be dependent on the surface they're on -- adhesive for smooth, and loping for rough or absorbant. they used to think snails loped to escape predators, but truthfully, neither gait is much faster than the other. instead, it seems that loping is useful for conserving mucus.
you didn't ask about mucus, but it's pretty important when it comes to snail locomotion. with how escargon moves, i'd say he spends most of his time loping... which makes me think anthro snails in kirby produce a lot less mucus than the average snail.
i can't recall any point wherein escargon is described as physically slimy, or leaving trails. you'd think something like that would be a point of contention when it comes to the cleanliness of the castle (and dedede's fists). he also can't stick to walls on his own or anything, hence...
...him needing to use plungers in his only show-canon attempt at doing so.
"but he's wearing clothes that would impede his ability to stick!" -my wife, who proofread this post and is being contrarian on purpose.
okaaay, but, the times escargon does crawl up walls -- alongside dedede, which means that this ability is not unique to escargon or a result of his species -- he is most definitely using his arms and toes to do so, implying that adhering to the surface is not something he can do.
...besides. if escargon could stick to surfaces naturally, don't you think he would have attempted to do so at least once to get away from his majesty?
it all makes you think (or, it all makes me think, at least)...
in conclusion: i don't think he'd be able to drag his body around without at least a little lubrication, but due to him potentially not producing a lot of mucus (maybe a trait of evolutionary anthropomorphism?), it would make sense that loping is his main gait on account of its mucus conservation.
...then, to finally answer your question: yes! we technically see him move like a snail. but he is a unique fictional interpretation of a snail, so he has some amusing little quirks that i've spent way too much time applying real-world anatomical logic to.
#escargon#escargoon#yeah i'm tagging this. i spent too long on it. i made every gif#esc#ponderings#ask#long post /#bugs /

Yandere! Edward Scissorhands x Reader
On her quest to make at least one sale for the day, Avon lady Peg cautiously steps into the eerie mansion of a known inventor. She soon learns that it has long been devoid of life, with the exception of Edward, a synthetic human creation left unfinished. She returns to the bright suburbs accompanied by the poor young man, earning the curious stares of the bystanders. Among the colorful houses, however, Edward spots a gloomy dwelling that the neighbors seem to avoid. Who is the mysterious occupant?
Winner of the Halloween Poll! A short gothic romance in the style of Tim Burton, where two outsiders find solace in each other.
[Horror Masterlist]
The light yellow car slows down as it reaches the driveway and the engine stops. Peg makes her way out and hurries over to the passenger side, keys dangling between her fingers. She helps Edward out once she sees him awkwardly shuffling in the seat, unsure of his next step.
"You'll love it here. I just know it."
The woman hastily closes the door behind the tall, peculiar visitor. She places a gentle hand on his back and guides him down the asphalted path.Â
Edward's gaze briefly wanders further into the street. The houses are slithering along neatly, their vivid colors somewhat tiring to his unaccustomed eyes. Yet one of them sticks out. Strangely enough, it reminds him of home. A rusty iron fence surrounds the property, and patches of lush, unkempt vegetation creep through the bars. The walls are dark and crooked and the black tiled roof casts a shadow over the entire abode. Â
"Who lives there?" The question escapes his lips almost unconsciously.Â
Peg follows his gaze, eager to introduce the area to him. Once she settles on the source of his inquiry, her smile falters for a second.
"Oh, my. That's, well..." she lets out a forced laugh and encourages him to continue walking. "I'm glad you're already so curious, Edward dear. You'll get to know everyone soon, don't worry about it."
One more push and the guest has securely entered the house. As she prepares to twist the knob into a lock, she peeks out for the last time, surveying the surroundings with mild worry. A neighbor is walking their dog, whistling in the distance. As they approach the mysterious building, the animal begins to bark and the owner scurries to the other side of the street.Â
"He's so...strange!" one housewife exclaims, sipping on her lemonade.
Joyce is biting the temple tips of her sunglasses as she carefully inspects the dark haired man, currently using his sharp, spear fingers as barbecue skewers. She's batting her long eyelashes, entranced. She does like her men on the enigmatic side. In fact, she might just have a word with him. She folds the sunglasses and hangs them by the collar of her low-cut blouse. Of course, she doesn't forget her famous ambrosia salad as she departs from the rest of the fidgeting women.Â
"Ed, darling. You must try out my signature dish!" she daintily holds up a spoon and attempts to feed the pale newcomer.Â
He cautiously opens his mouth, unsure of how else to respond to the gesture. He tries to find Peg within the crowd, hoping she'll give him a new task away from this uncomfortably touchy person. And as luck would have it, his savior has come to the rescue. Peg doesn't hesitate to pull Edward away, cheerfully mumbling a domestic excuse.Â
Once freed from the shackles of awkward social interactions, the man tiptoes his way out of the yard and down the street. He doesn't like the constant murmur of people talking. He doesn't understand the jokes, the loud laughs, the complicit slaps on the back. He feels as if he's on the other side of a glass window, separated from an audience demanding cooperation despite him only being able to discern muffled, discontinued meaning.Â
None of this was mentioned in the Etiquette book. Or perhaps it has always been there, and the Inventor never got to the specific chapter. Died lamentably before he could explain how one navigates neighborhood BBQ parties.
Edward's step is clumsy and he doesn't have a particular direction in mind. In his scattered daze he nearly trips over something and turns around apologetically. You're sitting on the ground, resting against the fence. The book you were reading is now thrown aside, as you're too busy massaging the ankle that just got kicked by the sudden intruder. You look up, ready to scold the responsible airhead, but your eyes stop on an eccentric feature that catches your attention.Â
"What happened to your hands?"
You're a little embarrassed by your unexpected, tactless curiosity. The man seems entirely unfazed, however.
"They weren't finished. I'm incomplete."
"Hmm. Isn't everyone?"Â
Edward considers the question and recalls the people he's met so far. Peg and her husband. Joyce. The children.Â
"But they don't look unfinished. They have all the body parts."
You chuckle slightly at the literal observation.Â
"Well, you can't check them on the inside, can you? Most people have missing parts. Or broken ones."
"Where would you get it fixed, then?" Edward is startled by this new discovery.Â
"You learn to fix it yourself. Otherwise it just stays like that, maybe forever."
He lifts his hands and stares at them. Is he going to be like this forever, too? He hasn't pondered the concept of time much before Peg had found him. Yet now, 'forever' feels unsettling.Â
"Do your hands bother you that much?"
Edward doesn't know how to reply. He wishes he could resemble everyone else, that much is true. Then people wouldn't stare. And they wouldn't be afraid. As he mulls over the right words, he suddenly becomes aware of his surroundings. It's the house he noticed earlier, when he first arrived here. Which means...
He examines the person before him. They, too, look complete. So why?
"Why does everyone avoid this place?" He remembers the gathering he just left. "You weren't at the neighborhood party either. I thought all neighbors will show up."
"I was never invited."
"Why?"
You shrug.
"You're also not currently attending, are you? Otherwise you wouldn't be here."
"I took a break. It's too loud. Can I sit here?"
Before you can answer, he drops himself next to you with a thud. His fingers swish together as he adjusts his posture.Â
"Oh, sorry, I forgot. What is your name? I'm Edward."
"Uhh... (Y/N)." You mutter, taken aback by his direct approach. What an odd fellow, you think to yourself.
"Nice to meet you, (Y/N)." As he scans your features again, he feels compelled to add, "You look rather pretty."
A faint blush takes over your face and you twirl your hair in an attempt to hide it. Is he mocking you? You genuinely can't read his intentions.Â
"You don't look too bad yourself, Edward. I think the hands add to your charm." You eventually find the confidence to blurt it out, quickly following up with a laugh.
His heart tightens and he almost forgets about his hazardous extremities, having to stop himself from touching his now throbbing chest. He's never malfunctioned before. It doesn't feel like anything is wrong, either. Your comment, for some reason, made him very happy.Â
(Y/N). Looking back to everything that happened, he's glad. Maybe he should thank Joyce next time he sees her. He wouldn't have met you otherwise.Â
As the sun begins to set, you remind Edward that it's impolite to leave a party for too long. He protests, stating he prefers your company. As flattered as you are, you rephrase it as Peg being worried about his sudden disappearance and he feels bad enough to agree on his early retirement. On the condition he can hang out with you again. Once you guarantee a reunion, he makes his way back home.Â
As he lays on Kim's bizarrely fluid mattress, tucked into the layered pastel sheets, Edward is overwhelmed by a strange, unfamiliar warmth. A wide, childish smile is plastered on his face and won't go away. Each time he closes his eyes to fall asleep, he pictures the encounter. (Y/N). It's a nice name, isn't it? He finds it particularly charming. He whispers it out loud in the dark room, as if making sure it's real. Reminding himself you're real.Â
He can't properly explain it. It's the same thick window that stands between him and the world, but you're next to him. An outsider. A rejection. The idea that someone else out there shares his struggle has cleansed him of any longing for acceptance. Why bother with a sea of foreign, smudged faces? Peg becomes Joyce, and Joyce fades into Marge, and they all become a generic crowd of smiling pleasantries. It's a funny thing, being among humans. Once he left his old mansion behind, he realized how truly alone he had been. Still, being surrounded by people he could not comprehend made him feel even more lonely. That is the tragedy; sitting at the grand table, empty handed, unseen, unheard. Misunderstood. No one's fault, really. It just happens. But every now and then, if fate so allows, one might just find another starved attendant. With the same glint in their eyes, of someone not belonging.Â
Oh, he can't wait to see you again.
It's unusually noisy outside for a late evening and you can't help but glance out the window. That's when you notice the roaring crowd, trampling in a hysterical march of unknown purpose. You have a bad feeling about it. The horned moon leers down at you like a bad omen and you quickly throw a jacket on, sprinting into the street.Â
"What's this all about?" you shyly ask the nearest group.Â
"Witch!" Esmeralda scowls at you with a pointing finger.Â
Peg notices the commotion and runs towards you, completely disregarding the prophetic warnings of the woman.Â
"Oh, (Y/N). It's Edward. They..." she sighs, frustrated. "I know I don't have the right to ask you this, but you're his friend. Could you please make sure he's alright?" Her voice is pleading and regretful.Â
You nod without saying anything else. Before you turn to leave, you swiftly gesture to Esmeralda, raising your index fingers up and mimicking a devilish look. She gasps and throws her hands together in prayer.
It had to be done.Â
Meanwhile, Edward has reached his old mansion and just now stopped in the entrance hall, panting anxiously. He feels nauseous and helpless. It's not that he's being chased by the enraged members of the neighborhood that alarms him. He cannot stand the possibility of not being in your presence ever again. How frightful, how agonizing! He claws at a nearby column in turmoil.Â
It can't be, it won't happen. He'll tear his way through the masses if he has to. Oh, what a terrible thought. His Inventor would roll in the grave if he knew the violent ruminations that plague him right now. But if he has no other choice...Would he go as far as taking someone's life if it was for your sake? Well, technically speaking, his sake, really. He wants to see you. He needs to.
Panic slowly creeps through his body. The thoughts are piling up in an erratic hum and he can't find his focus again. He paces back and forth, attempting to recollect himself, but there's an urgency that drowns him in cold sweat.Â
"Edward?"
The ringing stops. A switch has been flipped and he snaps his head in the direction of the voice. It's you. Completely spellbound, he extends his hand to touch your face, verifying whether you might be an illusion of his feverish desires instead. The blade pierces your skin, leaving a bright red trail behind.Â
"I'm so sorry-" he cries out, realizing his act.Â
You softly lower his hand with a reassuring smile.Â
"It's just a small cut. Don't worry about it. I think we have more important matters at hand, won't you agree?" you joke as you nudge your head towards the window.Â
"I spoke to the police officer on the way here, so we shouldn't have any surprise guests."Â
You remove your jacket and throw it over some dusty furniture before climbing up the stairs. Halfway through you briefly stop and urge Edward to join you. He simply nods.
When the issue is settled and everything has been said and done, will you return to your miserable exile? Won't the neighbors become suspicious if you're frequently seen sneaking up the hill? Perhaps even the utmost secrecy won't prolong the visits much.Â
And then what?
As he considers the potential scenarios, he becomes increasingly impatient. The joy of your return has been tainted by the impending doom of abandonment. He wishes you'd just stay with him here, forever.Â
Once the conclusion has been reached, he lets out a quiet apology. Maybe to you, maybe to the beloved Inventor, maybe even to himself. He inserts a finger into the entrance lock and silently twists it.Â
You must forgive him. Or at least try to understand him. He just loves you too much, (Y/N). Is it truly such a hideous crime? To want to keep you safe? If so, he will live with the guilt. But not without you.Â
You're home.Â

I just find it fascinating that the Hunger Games are viewed in the Capitol not just as a means to subdue the Districts, but as an intelligent political mechanism for the longevity of not just the nation, but also humanity. Itâs evident in young Effieâs referral to them as being a âgreater goodâ, and young Coriolanus Snow reflecting on how theyâd protect humanity and promote evolution.
And yet politically speaking, they do not make sense to me. If Panem is to truly be secure in the long run, the Hunger Games cannot go on, because the festering discord in the Districts and the dislike of the Games in the Capitol would eventually spill over. A good politician, even one like Snow, knows to balance carrot and stick, and the Hunger Games are too much stick. Itâs different to war â they are making spectacle and sport of childrenâs deaths. This is not children dying as collateral damage in a military bombardment on enemy targets, not getting caught in crossfire, and not even being executed for crimes. It is a show of otherwise innocent children reaped at random for the sake of sustaining the spectacle of the Games. And in terms of the post-War context of their world, it simply does not make sense to continue to kill 23 people with reproductive potential every year before they have had the chance have children and sustain the population.
This is one of those things that I think has been papered over to make sense for narrative purposes. Even despots maintain a social contract, and Snow broke it by reaping from the existent pool of Victors during the 75th Quarter Quell. Career tributes and previous volunteers â âCapitol favoritesâ â tried to stop the Games, an option previously unthinkable, because as twisted and unfair as the rules of their world were, they were still rules. The Victors played by those rules in the Games, laid their lives to honor the Capitol, won âfairlyâ without pulling stunts or challenging the Capitol, and gained upward mobility. And yet the rules were still upended, because nothing was enough for Snow.
Here is where I think lies his fatal flaw as a leader. He kept the Districts in line with an iron fist, and managed to sustain the country and maintain its operations, production, and progress for decades. He understood the importance of reward and punishment, as evident in his âhope vs. fearâ dialogue with Seneca Crane. But his arbitrariness, his willingness to pull the rug out from under those who abided by his twisted and inane rules is what did him in in the end. He broke the social contract. No, the Victors would not settle for being reaped again. And Katniss Everdeen, by virtue of her love for her sister, was unintentionally caught in the cross-fire and conveniently touted as a symbol. However, with or without her, this would have happened anyways, unless Snowâs successor discontinued the Games, simply because there was no true reward or safety for those who followed the rules â if there were real rules in Panem at all.

Does Reno get his hair professionally dyed or does it do it himself? And if he does it himself, let me propose: What does Reno do when they're sold out of his regular brand. The shade and color he's been using for YEARS.
Reno absolutely dyes his own hair, ain't no way he's trusting a stranger with scissors and bleach near his head. The last time he let a salon touch it, he walked out looking like a flamingo. Plus, they never layer the bangs right. Ever. Now. Enter the tragedy: His go-to dye, "Inferno Lollipop #6," gets discontinued. Cue apocalyptic meltdown.
*Tseng walks into the break room and immediately freezes. Red goo is everywhere. On the counters. In the sink. The ceiling. It looks like a crime scene*
Tseng: AH. AHâAHH.
Reno: Chill, boss. It's just hair dye.
Tseng, visibly relived: Why is there hair dye everywhere??
Reno: Because Inferno Lollipop #6 is gone, Tseng. Gone. I'm synthesizing it from memory using my science knowledge.
Tseng: Reno, you do not possess science knowledge. The last time you made coffee, it had foam insulation in it.
Reno: Nah, nah, I do! I mix alcohol and other stuff all the time! Plus those "brownies" I make? Delicate chemistry. Gotta get the dosage just right or your consciousness ejects from your body like a cannonball. I
Tseng, covering his ears: STOP CONFESSING TO FELONIES. I don't have time to fill out forms.
Reno: No can do. We're this close. My last formula was almost right. I tested it on Rude!
*Tseng slowly turns to Rude, who is, as everyone knows, bald. his facial hair is still the same color, which can only mean one thing*
Tseng: !
Reno: It's not what you're thinking. I just applied some to his scalp, and like, it only burned a little. This batch's only flammable if you breathe on it too hard.
Tseng: Clean this up and get out.
Reno: Actually, I can't. Not yet. I'm waiting on Zack. His hair's the closest match to mine pre-dye. Y'knowâvolume, color, texture. I slathered him with Prototype Batch #12 before he left for a quick run in the rain. If it survives that, it's officially stormproof!
Tseng: Oh, I apologize. I doubted your progress. Please, continue.
*Zack walks in, completely bald*
Reno: Damn.

[Image Description: A series of sixteen tweets by John Rogers @jonrog1 that say:
1) A moment at the Teamsters/UPS rally this morning clarified our current struggle with the studio CEO's (among other bosses). Teamsters got a lot of wins, but one of the main sticking points is the pay for the 65% of local UPS workers who are part-time âŠ
2) If you read the SAG-AFTRA demands, a truly STUNNING amount of their points involve protecting background actors, and trying to improve conditions for the 87% of their union who makes less than $26,000 a year.
3) As WGA members know, this is not a strike for the showrunners. We're trying to fix the fact the the current younger generation of writers can't even afford housing and their pathway to advancement has been cut off.
4) Like ⊠folks, I'm fine. There are maybe two proposals in there that affect me. I'm walking in 90% weather and losing over 50% of my income for the year because I want the younger writers to get what I got at this stage of their careers.
5) Our unions and the CEO's and various negotiators have a fundamental cognitive disconnect. Because CEO's types only succeed by FUCKING THEIR PEERS.
6) Zaslav, Iger , those types of execs, etc have never gone without so a fellow exec or a junior exec could thrive. A fellow exec failing is the moment to use your own leverage to advance past them, if not destroy them.
7) Part of it is the money but part of this, I think, is a genuine inability to grasp even the concepts of any labor action. Because it is always other-directed.
8) So many people treat capitalism as part of nature red in tooth and claw, but it's not. It's a human construct. There are different rules you can play by -- but not if you want to win.
9) The greatest gift capitalism ever granted was the ability to validate selfish behavior as a virtue because that's "just what's necessary, I don't make the rules!" (Look ma, it's reification!)
10) This is where I usually point out that Adam Smith wrote that you have to overpay workers to keep your labor force up, and you need to take into account the psychic damage of capitalism to the workers, and that admiring the rich is the greatest source of moral corruption âŠ
11) But I'll stave off that diversion to just land with ⊠this is a discontinuity of attitudes which I think was once breached by the fact that management USED to come from people who loved building their company or their trade, even if they eventually did management shit.
12) Now, even that thin thread of SYMPATHY (Adam Smith joke, get it? People?) is gone. The CEO's are working off a different scorecard, practically and morally. We're not just playing by wildly divergent rules, our lives and careers are DEFINED by those wildly divergent rules.
13) To them, we are IN FACT being "unreasonable", as our behavior does not make sense in their moral framework. They don't think they're being evil, they think they're playing by the actual rules, and we're nuts.
14) There's not great conclusion to this, other than to note that the bit about making writers homeless was described as "cruel but necessary" because they genuinely don't understand the meaning of cruel, because they are always on the other side of the power dynamic.
15) And if they're ever NOT on the top of the power dynamic, they're not suffering, they're dead. They are un-people in their own eyes.
16) These men are not irrational, but they are deranged. This isn't about money, it's about identity. And in a fight about identity ⊠they will set billions on fire.
Because they can always get more money. But they'll never shed the stink of losing to their lessers."

Good Omens S2 Discontinuity Roundup
Hello Good Omens fans! Did you know the Good Omens team has put a lot of work into making âerrors'' in the second season? Whether you were already aware, or just catching up, please take a look at the links below. Clicking any link will take you to one of the original posts that mentioned the discontinuity.
This post will continue to be updated and extended as new meta are published. Is there anything missing that you'd like to add? Reblogs, comments or messages are welcome!
Why are there so many discontinuities? Well, existing theories include different perspectives being shown, time-loops, separate timelines, a story told âout of orderâ and more! What's your opinion?
Discontinuities across multiple episodes:
Crowleyâs sideburns.
Crowleysâ sunglasses.
The bookshop clock is frequently showing the âwrongâ time (and other time inconsistencies).
The bookshop porch pillars/columns are sometimes clean, sometimes marked.
Randomly dusty streets (on a closed set no less!).
Street signage (Maggieâs and 1001 nights).
Almost every scene with visible extras, see here, here and here for examples.
Episode 1
There's TWO scrolls in Before the Beginning?
Gabrielâs/Jimâs entrance happens twice.
Crowley's conversation with Shax in the park shows him putting down the newspaper twice, and Shax's bag is all over the place.
Honolulu Roast sign.
Moving lamps inside GMCoGMD.
Disappearing eccles cakes.
Crowley's watch is set an hour ahead of his phone.
Episode 2
The lane where Crowley parks his Bentley varies between being wet and dry as well as the position itâs parked in, the colour grading, and the amount of dust on the Bentley windscreen! Also - the backdrop of the lane where Crowley parks the Bentley is impossible.
The amount of dust on Jimâs book changes in between cuts.
Job Minisode - varying wigs used for Bildad.
Episode 3
Muriel's arrival continues from a much earlier scene in E2 - see here and here.
Aziraphale parks in an unexplained location before going to the Resurrectionist pub, and also mysteriously loses his suitcase.
Resurrectionist Pubâs outdoor sign has two versions (no I donât just mean the Jesus side!).
Bentley now 4-door (may be explained by the transformation sequence).
Awning of a new age, extras are discontinuous and standins for Nina and Maggie are visible.
Edinburgh Flashback - Crowleyâs muttonchops change in size during the mausoleum scene.
Episode 4
Each time they are at the Windmill theatre, items in the background keep disappearing.
The polaroids (yes, two!) on screen are different sizes.
The polaroid itself is very confusing with Crowleyâs weird arm.
The morse code in Hell is saying something slightly different to the loud speaker...
Episode 5
Nina and Maggie switch places? (Who knew they could teleport like that lol?)
High ranking demons are bottom of the barrel?
The âSurrender the angleâ sign is thrown in twice?
A child randomly appears upon exit from the ball (approx 32:36).
Episode 6
Gabrielâs statue sometimes has a cross, sometimes not.
Crowley/David's stand-in is visible as Nina and Maggie leave.
French restaurant Fairy lights.
Final 15 clock shenanigans - why does the clock change from 9:25 to 9:40?
Are there two suns at the end of the episode?
These are the one's I've seen published so far and I'll keep adding to the list as more are published. In the meantime, if you spot anything missing from my list, please share the post about it :)

When industry has let you down, you gotta get weird. Do you remember the last time that one of your beloved childhood candies got discontinued by the manufacturer? Someone in a regular ol' residential kitchen, much like yours, decided to just make their own version of that candy. If those corporate motherfuckers won't give it to me, they said, I'll take it. They're eating it right now, while you sob into your Wheaties about how terribly capitalism has treated you.
Me, I love to do this kind of thing too. Spite is my fuel. Sure, it's nice to have the goodies of the past again. What really gets my motor running, though, is the opportunity to really piss off the folks trying to scalp what's left.
Yeah, we got the last eighteen boxes of this kind of connector you need, and we want seven hundred bucks for each of them. Guess what, asshole? I can trick the library into 3D-printing a bunch of them, and then trick AliExpress into making exact copies of them. Now the market price is seven cents, and none of those pennies are going to your dumb market-cornering ass. Sorry. It's capitalism.
Like any good thing, though, I may have taken it too far. The other day, the dealership wanted four dollars for a replacement clip for my sunroof. Instead of paying them that blood money, I spent hours of my own, precious time on this earth cloning it. Now, after all this effort, I can make them myself for about three dollars and ninety-six cents. Unless you price in all the failed prototypes, which nobody does. Also, they don't work as well as the real thing, so I have to make a lot so I have spares. Sometimes being a warrior against the forces of entropy means having to make a sacrifice.
If you're also into this weird hobby, let me know. I've been looking to get a new house, and I don't like the idea of paying people who know what they're doing for it. We can probably make some kind of enormous 3D printer and just crank out an entire bungalow out of microplastics. Call me.

regarding jake, carrington, johnnie and tara. [sorry, this is gonna be a long one]
for those unaware of the current situation regarding carrington, jake & idkraeven, i'm going to summarize it to the best of my understanding however i suggest that all of you go to @/idkraeven's account on tiktok to hear their full story !
basically, raeven was invited to johnnie's halloween party and they believe that at that party they were r00fied- and then taken from the party, and then sexually taken advantage of.
raeven is not claiming that carrington, jake, johnnie did these actions- but what they are stating is that since that night none of these people made any attempts to contact their, or help their gain access to the security footage. and when they sent their manager to go retrieve their phone from jake's house, jake acted incredibly rude and insinuated that their manager's son wanted a photo with him.
i've also heard that they placed a restraining order against raeven- which they won. and that people from their group have told raeven to not talk about that night anymore.
grace has claimed that this is their and johnnie's first time hearing about this- which i'm unsure if i fully believe, but raeven seems to have accepted this, so i will as well.
+ it should be noted tara's name has not been brought into this conversation as far as i am aware.
there is no excuse for this behavior. i understand that everyone is human and reacts differently, but to consistently be so unhelpful to a friend who had one of the most traumatic things ever happen at YOUR house at YOUR party is absolutely disgusting.
raeven has said they only want an explanation and an apology from carrington and jake and does not want them to be cancelled as they are against cancel culture, which i feel atones to raeven's forgiving character.
regardless of this, i refuse to write for people who can brush past these actions.
raeven also mentioned in their video that they've heard from multiple different people in LA to not go to jake's house parties because "those kinds of things happen"- which was honestly nauseating to hear.
that behavior should not be normalized. while jake himself hasn't personally assaulted someone, if people around you know these actions happen at your parties, you have to as well. meaning you should seriously check the kind of people you invite.
you are the company that you keep. which is why i also plan to stop writing for tara, grace, chase and johnnie.
as for the nursery,
what does this mean for my current works up? i've made the decision to keep the works posted- but to take down my masterlists at the end of the week. my jjtc taglist will also be shut down.
i know a lot of you have grown attached to my ao3 fic titled 'little moth', it's gained quite the cult following- but again, i refuse to write for people who can be so neglectful to their friends in times of serious need. especially when these actions happened at their own home.
little moth (jjtc version) will be discontinued. however, i am open to reusing the storyline again with different people- but as for now, chapter 14 will be the last chapter ever published. i'm sorry.

Your Husband John "Soap" MacTavish

To all you Soap lovers, this was fucking due after how much they did Soap wrong in Mw3.
I could really write something about those last two scenarios, I just can't promise you a happy ending AHAHA.
Taglist: @puff0o0,@katz-chow,@celestialhole.
(Mostly gender neutral Reader hcs)
Your Husband John MacTavish who does everything in his power to protect you, he feels as if it's the one of the only things he can provide for you because you take care of him and he can't ask for anything more from you. You refuse to let him think that's it's the only thing he's good for and that he means everything to you.
Your Husband John MacTavish who loves like he means it, never ever failing to express how much he loves you in every way possible.
Your Husband John MacTavish who wipes your tears in the most gentle way possible even with his calloused hands.
Your Husband John MacTavish who doesn't realize it but stares at you like his life depends on it. You often find yourself patching up his injuries, straddling his lap while you do what you need to. You feel him run his hands through your hair, hoping to see more of your face while you look up at him and smile. Fuck, you looked amazing.
Your Husband John MacTavish who loves it when you rub his back, he pouts and give you puppy eyes whenever you two are in bed and you stop rubbing his back while you two cuddle.
"Bonnie..." John whines, burying his head further into your chest.
"What..?" You asked, almost laughing.
John let's out a soft grumbling noise before giving your backside a light smack.
You roll your eyes playfully and continue to rub his back and discontinue the teasing.
Your Husband John MacTavish who shows his love mostly through praises and serving you. This man will NOT let you lift a finger most of the time, he thinks that it's enough alone that you take care of him and that he wants to repay that. He still of course appreciate that you do these things however more often than not he'll be the one pushing the cart while you two are shopping for groceries. No buts, he'll be the one to carry them and bring them inside the house.
Your Husband John MacTavish who will continue to support you with whatever you choose, whether that'd be a job and career or to be a stay-at-home spouse. Which honestly he thinks you deserve to be spoiled and pampered no matter what.
Your Husband John MacTavish who keeps a photo of you in the breast pocket of his tactical gear, he makes sure he never loses it. You were the one who suggested to him to keep it with him while he's deployed. It's been with him for so long that it's a bit worn down, the seems of folds being visible and the date and note written at the back with the ink of a pen being a little smudged and chunky looking.
"I miss you bonnie" John whispered, talking to the photo...
John smiles, flipping the photo over to see the note you wrote almost 6 years ago.
"I love you Johnny, I'll wait for you, no matter how long it takes. I'll be here till the end <3"
"I promise, I will come home soon bonnie, just you wait.." The sergeant says before kissing the picture and folding it back up to keep it. He knows to himself that if it goes down to it, he'll crawl home to you...
Your Husband John MacTavish who always and I mean always keeps his promise no matter what happens, he keeps his word..

felt like drawing my kids, sorta AU cause i drew them kinda different half my designs, i aged up the navi's sorta
information about them bc it's long and self indulgent from me talking to my friend
Enzan
Age: 11 (but turns 12 before Lan does making him slightly older and he will use this in a argument if he wants to)
I HC him french because of his english name they just moved to Dentech city at some point
Protoman
Age: in his 40's. 2 or 3 years younger then Enzan's father.
Backstory He was Enzan's mom's Navi (her name is Glace bc i watched the dub but apparently this website believes Enzan's english translated name is a swear word but his name on his wiki means Hot Blaze or something like that but it's french so his mom is french that is the HC i will stand on) i diagress, when she passed he was given to Enzan
other information: His Navi model was discontinued because it was buggy and glitchy, nobody could fix it (nobody wanted to try) so they just stop using whatever AI brain chip he has to make Navi's like him. He dislikes Enzan's father because he feels like he should have never got his original netop pregnant because she was sickly and giving birth is what ended her life he believes because she was ill he whole heartedly believes that what it was however the exchange was Enzan and he loves that child as his own, very rough relationship with Enzan's father
Lan
Age: 11
other information: His Mom and Dad are divorced because Yuichiro loves his work more then anything excluding Lan and Megaman he loves his kids. they are still friends and love Lan equally. Lan lives with his mom Megaman used to live with their dad in his testing phase but he's in Lan's PET so he lives with Lan and his Mom now. his original home is at Yuichiro lab, the PET and Lan's Computer is his new home he is able to jump to whichever he decides. His dad is Netopian/American
Megaman
Age: age unknown youth model - He hasn't existed that long but at the same time he was created to be around Lan's age
Backstory
created from the dna of deceased twin of lan hub. technically he is a twin but he isn't Hub he is a copy created with the DNA. He is not Hub tho.
other information: he doesn't understand social cues and tends to speak his mind, he is wiser then Lan but not knowledgeable in subjects people/Navi's his age should know about. He can solve complex problems and understand wrong from right but when it starts becoming being a world experience issue he can't really help you
Maylu
Age: 11 (older then Lan younger then Enzan, taller then Lan brags about it sometimes)
other information: American/Netopian, has whatever an american accent would be called in this world, she had a hard to learning Japanese but can speak it fluidly, cannot write it that well. Very chill at the same time the loudest person in the room if bothered. Likes this kid name Zackery in their school cough Zero COUGH he has a whole story that he is Willy's son who Willy turned into a Navi but nobody knows it yet
Roll
Age: youth model around 16 or 18
Backstory
Normal custom edited Navi from base youth model in stores no interesting background
other information: adapted the traits of being kinda selfish and needy. It's hard for her to stand not having her way, very girly Maylu did not make her this way she just developed a personality outside of her environment because she does not act anything like Maylu this is not a bad thing but it isn't a good thing either lol we love roll still

Murder Board 2.0
Updated 1/27/2025
Since I've figured a few things out, I need to re-do my Murder Board. New answers, new questions.
What I think I know:
Hints given out by NG are suspect at best. (I cannot blame him or anyone else on the cast or crew -- they spent A LOT of time and energy building this very meticulous puzzle game for us -- why would ANY of them give ANY of it away? That would ruin all the fun!)
Lots of the discontinuity of Season 2 can be explained by POV switches between characters. See here and here for more. I think the title/location cards are also probably POV Clues, that needs a closer look.
Crowley gave something to Aziraphale in his mouth when they kissed. It's the fly. Now, what else was in the fly besides Gabriel's memory? RECORDS. Incriminating records that are why the Metatron let Beelzebub and Gabriel go, but nailed Aziraphale. The Metatron knows Gabriel has those records, he doesn't know they got passed to Aziraphale.
Saraqael and Crowley and by proxy, Aziraphale are all working together. See here and here for more. That explains A. the tiny miracle blowing up into a 25 Lazarii miracle. It didn't. They had to cover for something else that did. B. Saraqael showing the archangels the book shop in 2019 in the spy hole. C. Crowley's spy turtle neck and where he went during Aziraphale's Job flashback. D. Why Saraqael helps him see the trial in Heaven. (Oh! Muriel's now in on it, too!)
Crowley's memory is fine, it's a red herring. It might mean something else, though. Is it a hint about how long there have been 2 Crowleys? Since 1941? Why are there no hints of 2 Crowleys in Season 1?
Shax is on a mission besides Gabriel -- she's looking for whatever Aziraphale and Crowley are hiding. Gabriel is a side-mission.
The hand-washing comment from Crowley in the Resurrectionists minisode -- he tells DaVinci about helicopters in Good Omens the novel. It's just a thing he can do.
What is up with Maggie? Maggie's freaking Jesus 2.0. She's what Shax is looking for, and who Crowley, Aziraphale, and Saraqael are hiding. Also, where is God? God is busy being Maggie, that's where. That's why Crowley says "Oh God" before his speech in the final fifteen. He's bringing up what they're hiding, reminding Aziraphale that someone has to stay and keep an eye on Maggie. That's why he can't go. Now, how the FUCK did Jesus 2.0 wind up owning a record store she inherited from her family NEXT TO AN ANGEL?? (Ah, shit, now I'm doubting this one. Now I suspect it's Nina, and Maggie is Mary MAGdeline. Same questions still apply.)
SECRET SONGS??? Why are the songs secret?? I'm losing my mind, what is happening?? I think this is a message that A. Aziraphale and Crowley are okay, and B. We will absolutely be getting part 3 of 1941.
I still think the scenes might be out of order. Is it as simple as watching them in chronological order? Could be.
The Metatron is a naked man. i.e. he was originally HUMAN.
Aziraphale and Crowley are talking in subtext A LOT. Aziraphale's tells are easier to spot than Crowley's. He raises his eyebrows and does vocal bunny rabbit ears, says "um," and "ah." "Our Gabriel miracle," "The establishment in question," "Certainly on to something," "Haven't yet cracked the case." Crowley's tell seems to be being effusive. "Frozen peas," "You wouldn't be interested in love?" "Well, today is your lucky day!" "How do you know I didn't do it?"
We are missing the scenes that should mirror the Resurrectionists minisode. What we do have instead of mirrors to that are Crowley telling the demons they are out of order. He can tell time has been messed with.
There are two Crowleys. I think the head in the book shop is his way of keeping in touch while his twin is off doing things, and the red eyes are him, too. Now, why?? What do they need 2 Crowleys for?
The bullet catch instruction booklet gets 3 close ups, both because it is important and because they pull the same trick 3 times in the show: Once during Job, once during 1941, and once during the Final Fifteen.
What still needs answering:
The clocks jumping time. And why are the extras moving in double-time when we first arrive to Whickber street?
The weird hand in the 1941 photo. Is that a 2 Crowleys hint?
Aziraphale's chair position being moved still doesn't make sense. Unless Crowley was talking to himself??
The extras behaving strangely.
Crowley's car being in the wrong spot on the road after Shax threatens him.
Weird sounds -- Aziraphale turns to look at a crashing sound when he returns from Edinburgh, to look at a car horn, the very loud clock in the final fifteen BUT ALSO when Jim says he will go out to the demons, nightingale singing when Crowley leaves in the FF.
I'm not sure that POV switches explain Crowley's sunglasses going from silver to black.
I don't know why Aziraphale went to Edinburgh, or why he stopped at the graveyard where Gabriel's statue is, or why he looked like he realized something important while he was there.
Why does Michael do the "nothing's in the box" thing with the matchbox? It's a petty specific action. Someone pointed out that Michael's nails look chewed and terrible, are we meant to stare at the matchbox while something else goes unnoticed? Well, duh. But what?
We most certainly did not get the whole scene where the Metatron is talking to Aziraphale. What else was said?
What did Crowley do during his ALL-NIGHT JAUNT in Heaven? Did he sneak around and steal something? Did he uncover something? Did they hurt him? I think he stole something.
What did Aziraphale do with his briefcase that he took to Edinburgh? We see it in the book shop from his POV, and Edinburgh is seen from Crowley's POV, so they both know it exists. And then it's gone. He also said he "hasn't yet cracked the case." So he hasn't opened it yet? Why not? What's in there?
Why does Gabriel prophecy with God's voice? IS it God's voice? It's a woman, is it Frances McDormand? It's hard to hear. When he remembers the beginning, I think it's God's voice. When he prophecies, it may be someone else. Frances McDormand has no credit in that episode.
Why the heck did Maggie and Nina go talk to Crowley while the Metatron was talking to Aziraphale? What they had to say wasn't important enough to leave Nina's shop during a rush, and I definitely don't think they derailed Crowley from what he needed to say to Aziraphale, though it might look at first as if they did. So what was that about? Were they trying to speak in husband-code to warn him about the Metatron?
When Shax stops Aziraphale for a ride, he says, "Oh, I really need to get to --" and then is cut off. He really needs to get to where? It's an easy assumption to think he means the book shop, or London. But is that all he means? Or was he on his way somewhere else? And if it was just the book shop, what does he mean he's late? Late for what?
When Crowley leaves Heaven, he tells Saraqael and Muriel to come, too. But in the elevator, Michael and Uriel are there! When the fuck did they show up??
Why does Beelzebub tell Shax to attack the bookstore? Aren't they worried about Gabriel being harmed? And they know Hell is understaffed. Maybe that's why they command it? Because they know Shax won't be able to get many demons?
What about the Masons? It's such a specific thing for the pub owner to bring up, what is the meaning of it? And Maggie has a Mason symbol on her necklace. Did the Masons carve the statue of Gabriel? When did they see him?
The only narration we hear in the entire season is Aziraphale in the Resurrectionist flashback. I believe this is to throw us off the POV character switches all season. But still, why do we only hear him narrate 1 flashback? I think he's reading the diary to himself in the present day. That would explain the end, "And that was the last I was to see of Crowley for some time." He JUST heard the story of the jukebox from Maggie. And Gabriel appearing at the pub -- same city that statue is in. Of course he thought of something important from that diary entry! Now, what did he notice?
Is the Book of Life a real threat? We hear two stories about it, that it's real and that its ability to erase beings was something to scare the cherubs with, this is inconclusive. Crowley gets nervous after Beelzebub talks to him, but I think he's pissed that Heaven and Hell have taken an interest in them again, especially since they're trying to hide Nina!Jesus.
So many promo posters show Aziraphale, Crowley, and Jimbriel together, or symbols of them. Three feathers: two white, one black. Tea cup, cocoa mug, wine glass. The three of them. Not with Beelzebub, not with Muriel, the three of them. And all three of them have been Jesus-coded in some small way. No one else. Those three. What. Why. Are they the sacrifice required to bring about the new world? Why not Beez, then?
The whole collection of Maggie's album's from the Amazon X-ray are great, big CLUES.
A post that I didn't reblog pointed out that the record Aziraphale is listening to when Garbriel shows up is neither Shostakovich nor 21 minutes long. That seems important, but I'm not sure how. (The record is opposite when Crowley gives Aziraphale the fly containing records -- the actual symphony is, according to the original blog, one written by a rebel in contempt of his government. Do the records have to do with the rebellion and fall?)
What the heck does Furfur mean by "little monkey in the waistcoat?" How does that sound like Crowley?
Why does Furfur change the subject when Aziraphale asks where Gabriel and Beelzebub would like to go?
Why does Mrs. H say "for God's sake" two times in a row? No one says that on this show without a meaning.
Shax notices Crowley going to Heaven and makes an epiphany face.
Why is the end credit music for the ball French cafe music? French must be important. And the end credit music for The Hitchhiker is old timey and scratchy, then skips and becomes the same song in a newer, clearer style. Because they repeat the bullet catch trick in the modern day, perhaps?
I thought I heard that Crowley and Aziraphale are in the fly in the opening sequence, but nope. So why are they in a cave?
Why are there multiple elevators and multiple mountains in the opening sequence??? What the hell does that mean?? And multiple Edens?? All right, what's up??
I count at least two times Aziraphale glances right at the camera, probably more. Who is he looking at? Us? Is he looking at Crowley? Why??
When Aziraphale arrives back from Edinburgh, he asks how "everything is with -- mm." Crowley says "he was sleeping, I heard him singing." I don't think they mean Gabriel. At the cafe, Crowley says when Gabriel smites you, you've been smitten. Aziraphale says he isn't "you know who any longer." Again, I don't think he means Gabriel. Who are they hiding?
What has Aziraphale's attention when he asks Maggie about Every Day? She points to the coffee shop, and all of a sudden Aziraphale can't stop looking out the window and gets very nervous.
Twos. Why are twos so important?? Repeating twos. And there's doubles of damn near every object on screen.
ARE THEY "ELSEWHERE??" People have wondered if Whickber street is a mini-world, and in the book Crowley's watch shows the time in several places, including "elsewhere," where the time is always "Too Late."
"Haven't yet 'cracked the case!'" Like, the briefcase he left in Edinburgh??
Repeating themes: (I am just realizing that these aren't just themes, they are all Clues!)
Beverages of all kinds -- tea for Aziraphale, wine or whiskey for Crowley, cocoa for Jim. Oh, and LAUDANUM. And coffee!
Time -- lots of clocks/mentions of time. Everyone notices the ticking clock during the Final Fifteen, but it's ticking loud when the demons attack the ball, too. Also, why is the first scene of Whickber street shown at high-speed? Is time sped up? Or something else?
Love/partnership/togetherness being stronger than separateness
Memories/forgetting/remembering
Payment -- money comes up in both the Resurrectionists minisode and the Flesh Eating Nazi Zombies minisode, but no one pays for anything in present. There is bartering, but no money. Both times money is brought up, it's Crowley using Aziraphale's money, and both times, it's to buy a life. It's funny, but I feel like there's a point to it.
Rising from the dead -- Job's kids (even though they weren't actually dead), bodies used for science, Nazi zombies, the Second Coming. I think this is all just hinting around Jesus -- sure, hinting around Jesus, who we were expecting to show up in Season 3, but she's already here. The hints indicate that she is already on Earth, not going to show up next season.
Unreliable narrators. Because we are seeing the whole show from various characters' points of view. Because of that, we can only see what they know, expect, believe, or understand, but also what they want us to see. We need to take the whole second season with a grain of salt.
Death in general -- but 8a., I'm a dirty pagan, why didn't I make this connection sooner, death always leads to REBIRTH, change, something totally new and 8b. there are tarot cards in the magic shop, and even if you're not a dirty pagan, the Death tarot card means transition, something must die before a new thing can be born. Hmm.
Morality and what is "good" and what is right
Recognition and identity and hiding one's identity. Ah! Probably at least partly because Maggie someone? is Jesus. How would you recognize them? (I think it's Nina now.)
Licenses, permits, permissions, rules, proof, evidence, what's allowed. All of the minisodes mention this, and it all gets mentioned again over and over. Because Heaven and Hell do have rules they have to follow. Which drives home my theory that Gabriel stole some very incriminating records from Heaven when he left, Crowley got hold of them and gave them to Aziraphale during the kiss, and now Aziraphale is going to nail them.
Colors. Lots of colors!! Job's kids are dressed in the colors of Nina, Maggie, and Aziraphale's shops. Jesus on the Resurrectionist Pub sign is in blue and red, blue and red crop up a lot in extra's clothing, as do yellow and red, Crowley colors. The Ladies of Camelot are in red and blue. Aziraphale says Earth will be a blue-green planet, Nina's shop is blue-green.
Horses. Horse statue, horse wine label, people saying "dark horse." The four horsemen again? I feel like they already had their ride, so what the hell? I think it's because season 2 is an echo of season 1, I THINK -- I have to check -- that horses appear or get mentioned when the horsemen have corresponding scenes in season 1.
Numbers. A lot of numbers get said. Does it matter, or am I overthinking?

What are you/am I? As opposed to WHO. Aziraphale asks in the Land of Uz, and Crowley asks Gabriel.

Season 1 Good Omens
The titles of episodes, minisodes, places, etc. 7a. The Arrival: a book and a movie, though the book seems far more relevant. And lovely. The Clue: a movie. Companion to Owls: a line from a Bible story. I Know Where I'm Going: a movie. The Resurrectionists: two novels, each called The Resurrectionist, singular. Both look unhinged. The Hitchhiker: a Twilight Zone episode. Nazi Zombie Flesheaters: Literally no other reference. ?? Nazi Zombies do appear in a LOT of movies, comics, and video games, usually as a dark joke. The Ball: a video game. Irrelevant? It's a puzzle-based game, so maybe not. Every Day: a song AND a movie. Some themes repeat here: Puzzle games, being re-directed from one's path to find true love, death and being brought back to life in a gruesome and unpleasant way.

!! NSFW WARNING !! Hey, I totally understand if you don't want to answer this I've been trying to write smut. Specifically, an orgy with ~15 characters with ~7 of them having more focus. Things are happening at the same time and partners/groups are changed all the time and not together i.e. a single person finishes and just joins somewhere else. I don't know how/when to start switching who/which group to write about or even backtrack to a different group. It's rather jumbled up now.
I think the most important thing to remember when it comes to writing sex scenes, is:
Sex scenes are action sequences
We are developing a series of acts between a number of characters, and we hope to do a number of things:
There is an arc of action, beginning at the beginning point, moving though the action, and a crescendo & denoument
Who did what -/With whom -/and where
Give a sense of mood, theme, and continuity with the rest of the story (or, jarring discontinuity, if that's what you're using it for)
and so on, as with any other action scene
So, as we do with any kind of action sequence, we need to figure out the order of events, the way that we want to feel about those events*, and the time we're going to take to show all of this.
First up, you probably want to think about how central this scene is to your story. Is it a major incident, or a minor incident? ie, do we want to spend a lot of page space and detail on it, or is it something that just needs to be glossed over in a few paragraphs, just so we know that it happened?
This is going to change depending on what you're trying to do with the sex scene, and what your story is about.
Second up, the 'blocking' or figuring out the choreography of the scene. Who is where, what are they doing, and with whom. You can probably figure out a skeleton outline, just so that you can be sure that characters have time to participate in each scenario that you're including them in. (This is also a good time to think about the pace and rhythm of the scene--are there going to be snack breaks, lulls in the action, time for characters to catch their breath, etc)
If you're having trouble thinking of how to shift focus between different groupings, think about when and why the characters decide to move on from what they're doing to join someone else. Or about how what each group is doing might change the vibe of the scene.
Then, we'll think about mood. The mood can shift throughout the scene, eg frantic/ high energy->slow/ romantic->lazy/sated, or nervous->focussed->confident, whatever the emotional beats and journeys that you want to show.
Mood is also something which is going to lend a great deal to the scene in terms of communicating what it is for** in the story. Is this scene a way of showing the group dynamic, or of exploring individual character's psychology, or illustrating a cultural norm, or of celebrating a victory, or any other thing that it could be about. These characters are having sex, why are they doing that, and what does it mean in the context of the narrative.
So now we know that we need to have an understanding of what the purpose of this scene is in the overall narrative, what exactly happens and in what order, what sort of mood we're trying to evoke with this scene, and what other things we might be learning about character/ place/ culture through this scene.
Next, what about some examples of books that use sex scenes with more or less complex staging to develop various plots and themes:
In the Court of the Nameless Queen by Natalie Ironsides->exploration of gender and identity, with both orgy scenes and couple scenes
Exquisite Corpse by Poppy Z Brite/ Billy Martin->this is a horror novel featuring two serial killers falling in love, look up some content warnings if that sounds like it isn't for you
Leash by Jane Delynn-> a classic of lesbian weirdo-erotica, about societal alienation and BDSM
Some posts about plotting and POV that might be useful:
Multiple plots with different character groups [HERE] Multiple plots that converge at the end [HERE] Multiple plots and subplots [HERE] Multiple POV characters and narrative shape [HERE] Third person POV and focalisation 'depth' [HERE] First person POV strengths and limitations [HERE]
I hope that's helpful! If there's anything that needs clarifying, please don't hesitate to ask again!
-Mason
*note: you might think that I'd say that we're assuming that people should read the sex scene to get horny about it, but that is just one option of many, and while it has its place, there are far more things that you can do with a sex scene
**note: I also do want to be clear that there's nothing wrong with writing sex scenes explicitly for the horny factor. That, traditionally, is one of the major reasons to include sex scenes in a story. But I do think that more narrative weight makes a sex scene more memorable and interesting.
