hits blue with the beam that makes him into a gen 1 pokemon that got new evolutions in gen 2 and 7 (dex entries and extra stuff under cut)
because im normal i made dex entries for both versions of the game
Okiddo (ookido+kiddo), the Rascal/Rowdy/Kid Bully Pokémon, normal type, 1'2", evolves @ lvl 18:
Red: It loves to roughhouse with other Pokémon, most often picking fights with the one it sees as its rival. However, it’s a sore loser. Blue: It chooses another Pokémon as its rival and challenges it over and over again. Unfortunately, it’s also a sore loser.
inspo: rby/frlg blue, eevee, jolteon, purrloin
its shiny would replace the purple with rivazul's blue
Rivazul (rival+azul), the Competition Pokémon, fighting-normal type, 2'7", evolves at lvl 30 if there’s another fighting type pokemon in your party:
Gold: This prideful Pokémon will test prospective trainers with surprise attacks. If its rival has also been caught, it will force its trainer to battle its rival's trainer until they win. Silver: This observant Pokémon has an eye for potential and seeks out powerful trainers. If its rival in battle disappears, it will track it down.
inspo: pokemas blue, jolteon, zangoose, floragato
green shiny to reference the green/blue name debate ofc
this one looks the least like hgss blue...if i could capture the feeling of a leather jacket i would
Rivally (rival+ally, shameless silvally ripoff), the Trainer Pokémon, fighting-normal type, 4'11":
Sun: No longer obsessed with victory, it trains other Pokémon for friendly competition. However, it still refuses to go easy on any opponent in order to maintain its strength. Moon: Although it now helps train other Pokémon instead of pushing them aside, don’t expect it to go easy on anyone. It gets bored fighting weak opponents.
inspo: sumo/frlg/pokemas blue, meowscarada, zeraora, lycanroc, liepard
its shiny would be green colored to match blue's bright green capris
the Trainer category is a ref to his pokespe self's title
not too happy with this design since it doesn't feel very gen 7-ish

Too lazy to shade them rn, here's my take on the sibling trio from Hollow Knight as Pokemon
Little Ghost/The Knight would be Dark/Psychic or Dark/Ghost (maybe Dark/Bug?)
Hornet would be Psychic/Bug
The Hollow Knight would be Dark/Fairy
(additionally, PK would be Psychic/Dragon, WL would be Fairy/Grass, and the Radiance would be Psychic/Fairy :333)

The alternate Dusclops form I designed for my Pokémon campaign character Shaye. Shaye had been pushing off evolving as they wanted to stay the way they were, so I wanted to keep the skull through out the evolution as a way to keep them the same, while still growing.
My Original Design vs. The Updated Version vs. Adding Shading and Victorrent
I also have an alternate design for Dusknoir, but I think I'll keep that a secret for now.

A Flying Fuzzle of Joltik!
shoves a bunch of silky soft feathers on the tiny fuzzy spiders.
Trying to decide what the wings should look like. I know nothing about birds I just think they'd be really cute with fluffy wings 🥺💛. (flying electric variant?)
I really really like the white and the gold ones, like lil tiny angels <3
But the blue ones remind me of some of those paradise birds. If they stretch them up and out it looks like more eyes/paws? maybe to confuse predators? especially if there's a bunch of them hoarded together.
#pokemon#joltik#fakemon#kinda? does this count? fake variant? I dont know what to tag this aaa#flying joltik#I just want to hold them and give them scritches and pets and#I plan to try and draw a few more. probably after actually looking at actual bird wing references >.>#note to self: make a few silly ones later based on some birds of paradise#doodle tag

Fakemon idea
Lupide / Woolup
Type: Dark, Normal/Dark
Ability: Disguise / Synchronize
Easily mistaken as a simple pelt rug, Lupide quickly shows others the error of stepping on it’s thin body, wrapping them up tightly and biting their ankles. Despite it’s tricky demeanor it seems to enjoy the company of Wooloo.
Early farmers once thought that Woolup was simply a Lupide attacking a Wooloo. It was quickly shown however that the two had simply become inseparable as their fur became tangled. Having bonded, the two share a similar demeanor and battle as one pokemon.

2024 Shrink Drive 25: Raichu can help!
I rewrote the dialogue for this page multiple times. The first version of this dialogue, for instance, went "Don't worry onii-san" "Stop calling me that!" "But I always call you that ♥" "It's true, master, she does" "But I don't normally need to hear it!"
Honestly, I'm just happy I was able to tackle that background finally!
Speech bubbles are placed where they are to ensure it's still 16×19.
Behind the scenes, the image is hosted by FA, it was impossible to get Tumblr to accept the upload even though it's less kilobytes than the others.

Dreamers of Myths and Legends Facts and Trivia
Here are some Facts and Trivia for my WTDW Pokémon AU! NOTE! Some contain SPOILERS!!!
The Dream Quartet live in different regions: Wiatt, Eric and Carly are from Kanto, Oliver is from Johto, Sara is from Kalos, and Lewis is from Galar.
Originally Eric's Aipom wasn't going to be named Ridley and Sara's Skiddo was going to be named Millie. I ended up switching it so now Eric's Aipom is named Ridley and Sara's Skiddo doesn't have a nickname.
Speaking of Nicknames only 3 of the WTDW characters Pokémon are nicknamed after their animatronic counterparts. Those being: Eric, Andrew and Alyssa.
Mike was originally going to have a Charmander named Rex, but since Episode 4 of Season 2 his team has changed. Mike has a team of doggo Pokémon, but who knows Rex the Charmander may make a comeback.
Since the Founder Trio gets a Starter Pokémon (Lewis; Sprigatito, Sara; Piplup, and Oliver; Scorbunny) what about Wiatt?? Sure, Oddity the Eevee counts, but as for the Grass, Fire, Water Starter he does get one. Minor spoilers: The Pokémon once belonged to Wiatt's father, Owen and it's currently in it's middle evolution.
At Lewis's home, he has a Lilipup and a Yamper owned by his mom.
Oliver's siblings are at a Pokémon Boarding School in Johto. They'll appear soon!
The Minimum Wage Trio (got from @saltyr3mix from one of her fanfics) will appear and they have the Legends: Arceus Starters. Pen has Cyndaquil, Audrey has Rowlet, and Hayden has Oshawott. I plan on introducing these three soon! Their starters are going to be fun to write!
Speaking of Starters: Norman has an Hissuian Zorua and Andrew has a Noibat named Morris/Mo.
Damien WILL appear and most of his team was thought of by @wolfusmoonstudio. He only has one Pokémon thought of by me.
One of the character's has a shocking family discovery and...only a few people (my friends) know about it.
NON CANON: I do have a document for this AU where the group has Fakemon from my favorite creators. I'll share it one day, but it's made for fun only.
I'll share more of these fun facts and trivia for my other AU's in the near future!! Just wanted to share the important stuff!!

oh no I made more fakemon for people. went more with madlibs-esque prompts this time in the form of asking for a few nouns of things people like and here are the results
-
starting off with @wofiepyxie, who unwittingly started this round of fakemon by consistently having an insane word count in bang sprints (and daring to mention the word 'candy')
I pictured an admittedly more spidery spider at first but a request to not make it creepy and to go for more of a wholesome Joltik vibe made me rethink, because there are enough creepy bugs (not that spiders are bugs despite my use of the computer bug pun) in this world. candy entering my brain made me try to just make the thing look like candy, which accidentally developed a weird and probably overly complicated backstory thing for it where it's a popular Halloween decoration due to being mistaken as a piece of candy which is partly because of its eye-searing poison dart frog-y colors but mostly because that's its weird defense mechanism. it eats computer data ig idk where the typing aspect really comes in it's just a weird little guy. random thought but I think it'd be hilarious if its shiny form was just like...all black, nothing noteworthy about it at all because it's just a regular color. nobody would have any idea what it even is by looking at it
-
next is @hectatess, who had a prompt including things ranging from witches to Rottweilers
when people think of Rottweilers, they think dangerous and aggressive and like basically a hellhound (wassup Houndour line?), so naturally I had to go with the complete opposite and oh no it's baby, like just personified 🥺 with lilypads. really tried to go for a sad wet puppy vibe with this one, starting with sad pleading eyes with the wet lilypad hat just dropping down its face and ending with the ends of the darker fur that vaguely follows the pattern of a Rottweiler looking sort of weighed down with water (though it's also supposed to allude to a hanging witch robe, which it does not convey). carrying on that witch vibe is the lilypad hat, with the flower made to look like the pointy part of a witch hat though I know that it really doesn't look like that. the psychic typing was mostly inspired by the vibrant color of the flowers along with the fact that it's supposed to be witch-y. idk I don't name them but my brain is saying wetweiler which is really just a perfect summation of why I don't name the fakemon lol
-
and finally @very-offkey-kazoo, who gave me a wide range of ideas from bees to Greek mythology to vines to snakes to knives... so lots of creative freedom here which is fun in a chaotic sort of way
I was originally gonna go for a rock type that's like idk inspired by Greek something and is covered in vines but the brain said stabby wasp thing so stabby wasp thing it is. no but I definitely overused the knife motif (and the sharp lines in general to kinda imply speed as well as sharpness) I think between the gradually sharper arms and the needle-like antennae and then the legit just knife-shaped wings but ehhh. surprisingly I actually took more inspiration from the Pawniard line than the Scyther one which is probably the cause of the repeating knife shapes, but more than that, I went for a knight vibe almost and gave it chitin not unlike a weirdly overly shiny suit of armor that's pinched off in the middle to resemble the way the abdomen and thorax of a lot of bugs are connected. as for the Greek part...idk maybe think gladiator like I didn't until two seconds ago? either way, this thing could probably protect a labyrinth or something regardless of its unspecified size, since small bugs are creepy and big bugs are horrifying. do what you want with that thought ig (side note but the color reminds me of honey mustard and I can think of nothing else now)
-
I think these at least look like pokemon so they turned out okay. I learned from last time (stained glass skirt thing I'm talking about you) and didn't over complicate the designs this time and did try to make their typing more obvious through colors and shapes like the official pokemon do
(for anyone that didn't notice, the first round of fakemon is linked up at the top of this post)
I apparently make fakemon now so uh idk anybody that wants one can message me I guess yay

I decided to do another "What if Ash went to fan game regions" AU, this time in the Esoteria region of Realidea System
Idk, doing these is fun and gives me an excuse to revisit old fan games i haven't played in a while. if you have more fan game suggestions you'd like to see me either play or make an Ash team out of, let me know.
Anyway, I made this Ash sprite by splicing and editing from various official Pokemon sprites from gen 4 and 5, while the pokemon sprites were dug up from the game files. I did not create the fakemon here, so show some love to the game and play it at some point, since it's beautiful and stuff.
some blurb under the cut:
Now unlike some of the other fan games i've played in the past, Realidea System only has a small handful of new fakemon to choose from. With that in mind, I got a little creative with his team this go around, combining some elements of Journeys and his past teams to get this.
My main check lists:
2 new pokemon
1 Pokemon that can technically come from Kanto
1 Pokemon fans kinda wanted him to have (ie me)
1 Pokemon with a type clash (this happens more often than you think, later seasons being way more obvious with it)
and then I threw in Garchomp because I thought it'd be a nice callback to when his Phanpy from Johto went on his Battle Frontier and actually got to evolve, and Aipom from Battle Frontier to Sinnoh for similar reasons. And technically comes from Kanto if we consider that Gible lives in Oak's ranch.
the type clash hurts my soul a lot, but it makes sense for him.
I imagine Ash winds up in the Esoteria region after meeting Will, the Psychic Type Elite 4 member of Kanto/Johto, who invites Ash to come with him to the region- Will makes an appearance in the game, so it makes some sense to happen after time passes.
From there, I imagine the story plays out pretty similarly to the game, although he probably travels with Elliot and the feMC of the game, taking both under his wing. There may be a few times when Ash calls upon his old Pokemon though, since that's rarer in the newer times, and this game's dex is basically built for that.
Realidea System is pretty hilarious, so I imagine it would work remarkably well with his and Pikachu's tendencies to get into hijinks. The game definitely has issues towards people or pokemon from Kanto though, so I imagine he's probably experienced some weirdness about that as well, and probably found it weird as hell that he encountered Leon in Giratina's world after being sucked into a garbage can.
Anyway, his team:
Pikachu: same Pikachu as usual, the bestest boy that never leaves his side
Seaghoul (Water/Dark): the water type starter of the region. Seaghoul has always been a bit proud of itself, but also is super supportive of the rest of the crew and tries to uplift them. When he fully evolved, he sort of became the captain of the crew, and Ash, Pikachu, Zoroark, and Garchomp actually somewhat go along with the antics that come with it. Fierce, tenacious, cunning, he fights and never gives in- a problem at times, especially when he doesn't want to swap out. I like to imagine there's a post game arc where they go sailing with the pun pirates and everyone just gets super in character.
Drifblim (Ghost/Fire): Ash caught a Drifloon when he and the gang had to stop a group of them from kidnapping children from a camp one night- then he was surprised to see it evolve into a fire type! Drifblim is kind of oblivious to everything and easily distracted, but he does come in clutch where it counts.
Garchomp: This is the same Gible Ash caught towards the tail end of the Sinnoh series, and he decided to keep Gible around one day when bringing a crew through the PC to visit the new region. Gible evolved rather quickly due to all of his experience gathered off screen, but he's still not used to being in such a big body. Even as a Garchomp, he still bites Ash's head and is a bit silly. Still, he does get some major wins here and there, showing off his power in rare moments where it counts.
Scizor: Caught as a Scyther terrorizing a horde of Rowlett in a forest after being messed with by the evil team of the region, and it had a small rivalry with Ash's Gabite at the time of meeting. After being fixed up, it swore loyalty to Ash and was actually revealed to be calm and serious in fights. When it evolved, it quickly became one of the team's strongest assets that could always be relied upon, although he is still not used to Ash's light hearted nature or the silly antics everyone else gets into.
Zoroark: Ash found and rescued a wounded Zorua in a barn and nursed it back to health over the course of several weeks. After it got better, it sprung back to life and was filled with fun and mischief, and constantly trying to get the others to play with him. Even after evolving, one of his favorite pranks is to transform into other Pokemon or people in the group to mimic them or confuse the others, and over time the gang has gotten used and even embrace seeing an extra version of one of themselves in the group. It's an excellent battler, and Ash makes use of its Illusion ability in battle to trip up opponents.

Kinda odd ideology in some regards, cause it boils down a layered complicated topic on creativity to me and creates a handicap.
On one hand, yes - a pokemon shouldn't look like something Fandom Tim made and an official design should be its own. but on the other it feels like making something visually akin to what a fan made is just inevitable, especially when they hire fans to make designs - such was Black and White's source of contention when it released.
This is also not even mentioning mon designs by fans that take more visual advantage of the concepts presented when official stuff can be overdesigned, so base as to be otherwise unnoteworthy (gen 1 doesnt count, it was the starting off point), designed so that it does convey the idea - but in a clumsy/tacked on way, or fails to convey what it was going for.
I dunno it just feels like I know where the surprised sentiment comes from. To go a little off topic (wall of text incoming) here is my opinion on the situation:
Its interesting that you bring up Dudunsparce, cause while I like Dudunsparce too, in concept adding segments and making it a stonger (but still kind) Tsuchinoko "train" that carries lost pokemon out of its network of tunnels is great. But I understand why someone would consider it lazy as a first impression when it's mostly the same design, just longer and with the same elements from the original Dunsparce there but slightly different.
I made a few fakemon evolutions for Dunsparce when it was new, that did stuff like play up the digging aspect by using digging insectoid features (dispropotionaly skinny, double jointed legs and a segmented-looking mouth. it ended up looking cicada/mole cricket-like before i properly knew what those were). As a kid fan, I knew why I liked Dunsparce and learned what it did, so I emphasized it.
Anyone who turned it into a big sleek dragon missed its appeal: It's a little sleepy fat cute grub-lookin' fella that is kinda land-locked despite having tiny wings. It has to dig backward and can barely hover, so it's slightly cowardly and an uncommon creature.
I feel Dudunsparce isn't disappointing to some fans because it's not something "epic." I feel it's disappointing to some fans because it feels like it was made to make Dunsparce more "viable" in battles, rather than convey a creative idea or power someone had for a more developed Dunsparce creature. And, to bring it back to the point, if it doesn't resemble a fan creation on some level, it's easier for someone to go a simple route as a design philosophy for an evolution or a new mon.
In particular, Dunsparce -to me- as a design lends itself to quite a few avenues it could go down. Say what you will about a sleek dragon, at least Dunsparce has a signature color palette, traits, and inherent "slightly dopey, but endangered and nervous" personality lend itself to an evolution (like a character arc) growing in that direction while being unmistakably "Dunsparce" in origin - so long as base traits are echoed (the degree of which varies). If it were to become a fatter burrowing "ground dragon" with some beetley traits, it could also be just as viable and evolution route for the same reason.
It's why Bagon becomes a walking dragon Chrysalis ball as Shelgon, then becomes Salamance, and most people don't mind. Its personality, physical traits and "character arc" into a powerful creature that looks like it flies as easy as a kite make sense all together as one line. The best evolutions in pokemon convey this kinda stuff to me.
If Dudunsparce wanted to be a braver helpful underground train, that's a great idea, but it could have been conveyed better. if it wanted to say more about how a creature like Dunsparce would develop, it could have done so in a much more interesting way then adding segments (due to "genes"), another pair of wings, a spiral on its underside and light changes to its face. If it can blast its opponents with air because it apparently has giant lungs now, why doesn't anything about it's behaviour (like, say, making it able to propel itself backwards more effectively), moves or design lend themselves with that concept?
I like Dudunsparce, it is fine, but aside from being the more useful evolution, that's all it is to me. Now that Dunsparce has an evolution, and its more catch all normal, it feels less likely they'll revisit the concept now. That the designers restrict themselves because fans speculated about what it could've been, makes it feel like it leads to this kinda stuff and the reaction it generates.
Apparently a lot of pokemon fans did not know that the company takes pains to avoid putting out any pokemon that resemble fan concepts. I thought it was well known that all brands have to do that.
Like if you're annoyed by the design of dudunsparce because it's not a big beautiful snake dragon you can probably blame there being 5000 of those posted over the years (but dudunsparce is good actually)
