thinking of scrapped Blue Sargent plots… the og draft where she had empath powers… the way I definitely feel like the tapestry with the women with Blue’s face in BLLB was obviously meant to foreshadow Gwenllian, a woman with Blue’s powers being found showing she’s not alone in her type of power, but also feel like in context of td3 this might have been where Maggie first started thinking about playing with the doppelgänger trope… are the women Blue’s doppelgängers? are they Blue’s ancestors since Artemus is old enough that he knew Glendower? speaking of the cart scene

Les Misérables BBC had the opportunity to do it like in the book (Javert was already suspicious so bullying Valjean with: "It'd have to be a strong man. I have only seen one man who could do that. He was a convict. Just one. Just one man who could become a jack" would work so WELL), but they chose not to, and instead went with some weird fusion what other adaptations do without "I have only ever seen one man who was capable of doing that." (even tho it was included in the shooting script, but didn't make it on screen)

and instead have Javert only go: "Congratulation, Monsieur le Maire. Most instructive. And witnessed by so many..."

now, my thoughts lol and why I think the scene in BBC LM works (even though it's 1. different from the book 2. different from a lot of known adaptations)

I think that the reason why bbc!Javert wouldn't "bully" bbc!Valjean into lifting the cart is because bbc!Javert wants to be in charge and give order, and he wants his men to do the job.

(why the common: "I have only ever seen one man who was capable of doing that." wouldn't work in BBC and why I think it was a good choice to cut it, is because Javert knows who Madeleine is, and Valjean knows Javert knows. In other adaptation it's used as THE moment, but it's unnecessary in this one)

In the scene, he's on the horse, above everyone else, shouting orders as he did in Toulon from the hill. And in Toulon, Valjean ignored Javert and did something four men Javert ordered to couldn't do.

And now, with the cart, Javert is initially in charge. He's giving orders, and then Valjean comes in and starts taking over. And Javert hates it. He doesn't want to see Valjean doing something his men he can't accomplish, and that's why he wouldn't try to bully him into doing it verbally.

He waits and is interested in what Valjean would do, but he wouldn't prompt him, because he'd have to admit that him being in charge failed.
