They really needed to talk about the fact that Loki's chains were made out of his SONS more in mcga.
And no this is not completly because i love Narvi and Vali.
Like we have two children of Loki.
And its shown in the first book children of Loki arent trusted.
Like does it not fuck them up that the Aesir are completly fine with killing them to punish their dad? Do they not wonder if they'd ever do it to them?
Like does Samirah ever wonder what'll happen if she ever stops being useful to Odin?
Narvi and Vali were innocent (likely) children.
Does Alex ever wonder whatd they do to her the moment she, the rebellious and loud argr, the one who is comfortable with shapeshifting, the kid who looks like her mother and bears a tattoo of Loki's symbol truly steps out of line?
Will they fall like their brothers? Or be locked up like their father?
....This ties in nicely with my Vali and Narvi contact Samirah through a dream w.i.p

@defenseonly sent: 📂 📂 📂 📂 📂 send "📂" for a random yet completely useless headcanon i have. | accepting.
Tumblr media
📂 sigyn prefers not to sleep alone, something which stems from when she was growing up and would inevitably end up with one (or more) of her younger siblings sneaking into her bed for comfort more nights than not. she's more than happy for her partner(s) to be in her space while they sleep, and will let their children cuddle up with them just because they can. the best example of this is likely in the happier moments of her mythological verse, when she, loki, boða, and their kids will all end up sleeping in one (giant) bed.
📂 she's the kind of person who moves effortlessly through different social settings, and she has no problem speaking to people from all kinds of backgrounds. that's one of the things which make her such a proficient diplomat, but it also means that she's invariably on good terms with the servants who work in the various palaces she calls home - be that when she's growing up on vanaheim, when she's moved to asgard, or when she is visiting family on ljósálfheim or niðavellir.
📂 you know that stereotype of doctors making the worst patients? absolutely 100% true, where this healer is concerned. sigyn is the type of stubborn, selfless person who will make sure everyone else is safe before taking care of herself, and she's the stupid kind of selfless, stubborn person who'll hide that anything is wrong with them so people don't worry.
📂 she's a healer, not a warrior, but she can fight. her fighting style relies less on brute force and more on efficiency, agility, and speed. she can use a number of weapons depending on the situation, but her preference is for ranged combat where she can use her magic or a bow and arrow.
📂 sigyn loves swimming. her maternal grandfather, njörðr, is a sea god; his home of nóatún is on the western coast of vanaheim, and she and her siblings spend a decent amount of time there when they're growing up, which plays a huge part in how much she enjoys being in the water.

I've been tossing the idea of writing Barnabas around in my head for a while and I came to realize that I am interested in writing him, but his story arc in the game makes me soooo miffed. I wanted him to have more autonomy in the game. I wish that, even if he did have faith in a higher power of some sort, he hadn't totally acquiesced to it. I really wanted Barnabas to be the Big Baddie in the story and be motivated by the fact that he truly does believe he's ultimately doing right by the world.
I'm going to put this under a read more bc my thoughts got lengthy.
I'm going to add him to my muse list but stick to a specific verse where:
He was still born in the outer continents and, along with his mother, was a follower of the Circle of Malius.
They still relocated to Ash as the blight spread and joined other followers of the Circle of Malius who were already there.
But unlike other Dominants who awaken with their Eikon, Odin is more like Anima from FFX, where Seymour's mother sacrificed herself (against Seymour's wishes actually) so she could become an aeon.
In Barnabas' situation, Odin is an Eikon who the Circle of Malius believes can only be awakened by offering a sacrifice from the potential Dominant -- the stronger the connection, the more likely it is that Odin will choose that person as his Dominant. But according to their legend it doesn't always work; Odin may not see them as worthy or strong enough. And in those cases, there have been followers who sacrificed multiple loved ones (most of the time willingly, sometimes not) in the hopes of becoming a Dominant only to be refused each time. It's been many, many years since Odin has deemed someone a worthy Dominant, to the point where some people wonder if it ever truly happened at all or if it's just the stuff of legends.
I think maybe Barnabas' mother sensed something very strong and resilient in her son that made her think he had a good chance of being chosen by Odin. It was probably something she put off for as long as she could for the sake of raising her son. But once the conflict between the religious factions grew too dangerous, she wanted him to have a fighting chance. She would rather die in service of her religion and her son, even if it wasn't a guarantee, rather than the way she died in canon.
Similar to his canon story (according to Ultimania lore, since I like drawing from some of it!) he was 18 when she died. Unlike Seymour who was staunchly against his mother sacrificing herself to become an aeon, I think by the time Barnabas was 12 or 13 he understood the teachings well enough, and his mother well enough, to see that she would do anything to keep him alive. And I'm sure that he himself also felt the potential to offer something greater for his religion and peers.
So when his mother realizes their time has run out, he sacrifices her as an offering to Odin, who miraculously does grant his wish and chooses Barnabas to be his Dominant. Unlike Anima, his mother does not become Odin herself -- the Eikon is his own essence. His mother served as proof that he would give up even his most beloved relationship to act in service of the Eikon.
He still creates Sleipnir at this time. I'm not 100% sure what I want to do as far as how that pact was created between them but I like the idea of Sleipnir still being his closest advisor & confidant, and extremely important to Barnabas/Waloed as a whole.
And since the followers of the religion have been waiting for someone to be chosen as Odin's Dominant, they very eagerly follow his lead as Barnabas begins the process of taking over territories in Ash.
He already has a p big ego and superiority complex in canon (he is a King after all) and I could see him having been chosen by Odin in this verse being a reason why he wouldn't bend a knee to a god. I think he'd be more likely to try and become one himself.
I definitely have blank spots to fill in, such as why Barnabas stopped aging at a certain point, what Sleipnir's presence as Odin's steed means personally to Barnabas, and what his overall plans are for how he envisions himself granting the world salvation. I'm sure Ultima will have something to do with all of this but I really don't want to write Barnabas as a conduit for Ultima, simply doing his bidding and being manipulated by him. I'm also not sure how I want to integrate the Mythos aspect to it (though I think it could be v fun to plot out!) so that's a WIP for sure.
I normally don't write my muses in a way where I would only write them in a specific verse; I love being able to plop them in various ones and see how it goes. But the canon version of Barnie's story is so meh to me so I'm putting this out there in case anyone is interested! And I'd love to do more world building for individual plots with partners where the verse I've created for Barnabas can work with their HCs for their muse.
I figure he'll be a separate category muse on my page (request? guest? idk I'll figure it out) with an asterisk that makes it clear I'm only writing him with major changes to his background. I'll add all of this to a verse page for him soon and fill in those blanks as time goes on :3 Thank u for reading about my new terrible equestrian muse.

All The Plans We Didn't Make: Chapter 5/?
"For Norn's sake, will you sit down?"

Thor forced himself to stop.

"Goodness," Loki said coolly. "I think you've burned a hole in the carpet."

Now that his pacing had come to a halt, Thor felt the need to give Loki another piece of his mind. “You must be honest with him. How can you hope to be what you should be to each other otherwise?”

Loki rolled his eyes. “Do you seriously think making a baby suddenly makes an honest person out of someone? Have you never watched Paternity Court?”

“What’s that?” Thor asked in bafflement.

“Just a show,” Loki said vaguely. “Your strange friend the doctor recommended it. He said it would give me insight into the human psyche, specifically of men who bred women, only to then claim they didn’t.”

“You shouldn’t watch the shows here on Midgard,” Thor said ominously. “They are not made for intelligent viewing.”

Loki snorted fondly. “Except for the Discovery Channel, you mean.”

“But of course. The Discovery Channel’s brilliant,” Thor said. “It tells you how things are made, everything from Pop-Tarts to babies.”

“Oh, I assure you, they know how to make them.” Loki cupped his belly contemplatively. “But this was not his doing.”

“Oh,” Thor stammered. “S-Sorry, I just presumed - Barnes is not - he isn’t the father?”

“Of course he is, you idiot! I meant - ”

A withering look and a deep breath later, Loki tried again. “I only meant…that it was by mistake that the child came into being, and the mistake was mine.”

“That is a matter of perspective,” Thor said with a shake of his head. “You act like you have hit a brick wall, but a child could only be a blessing, not a mistake.”

“A wall…” Loki’s heart began to race as another memory resurfaced at Thor's words. “Do you remember the one time Father wanted to build the strongest walls around Asgard?"

After a long  grave pause.

“I remember,” Thor said.

“Whatever happened to the builder?”

“The Jotun to whom you promised Freya’s hand should he succeed?”

Loki nodded slowly.

Thor licked his lips, a nervous tic Loki thought his brother had long lost. “I killed him.”

Loki hummed. “I’d have liked to have seen that.”

“You disappeared,” Thor said quietly.

“I did, yes,” Loki murmured. He closed his eyes, his forehead creasing in consternation. “Where did I go?”

When he opened his eyes once more, his pupils had blown, black and wide. “I nearly died birthing him, did you know that?”

Thor's head jerked, as if slapped across the face.

“Did Father love him?” Loki wondered aloud. “Sleipnir?”

“Loki, stop this.”

Ignoring Thor’s increasing agitation, Loki continued casually. “When you take someone’s child away, the onus falls on you to love them, does it not?”

Loki looked up at his brother. “Did you love him? Mother wiped my memories, but did you love my son, on my behalf?”

“I was selfish then,” Thor said, voice deep steeped in regret. “The people I loved…were few.”

Then came a hush, a silence so absolute only the sounds of Thor’s ragged breathing filled the room.

“Fair enough,” Loki finally said. “Your encompassing love for yourself did not exactly allow for the welfare of others.”

“After all these years…” Thor whispered. “Why have the memories come back?”

Loki’s countenance darkened. “You would have kept me in the dark for all eternity, and you do not see the problem with that.”

“Your grief was too great. It was devouring you.”

“That’s your excuse? Mercy?” Loki hissed. “You know better than I the terms of the geas Mother placed on me. Every drop of water an abortifacient, every morsel that passed my lips a prophylactic. All administered against my will.”

“I am complicit. I am neither denying nor justifying my part in any of it,” Thor barked. “All I want to do now is to help you. Why can’t you see that?”

“If you really want to help me, take me back to Asgard right now.”

Thor inhaled deeply as he strived for composure. “You were the one who wanted to come, Loki. What precisely is the matter?”

“Nothing.”

Thor’s eyes narrowed. “You’re keeping me talking to stop Barnes from coming in. Try again.”

“It’s complicated.”

“Uncomplicate it,” Thor growled. “If anyone could dumb anything down for anybody, it’s you.”

“Bucky can’t be a part of this.”

Thor was silent for a while. “That is not fair.”

An involuntary laugh burst out of Loki. “Since when have you cared about what is fair and what is not? You, who have always done what you wanted with not a single thought for others?”

“You will not defend your choices by glorifying mine,” Thor said roughly. “They were my mistakes, my burden to carry.”

“You hypocrite.” Tears of accusation dewed on Loki’s lashes. “You knew.”

Thor turned ashen as uncertainty warred with terror. What horrible, unearthed secret Loki was alluding to now?

“You knew I was getting too close. Why didn’t you speak? Why didn’t you warn me?”

“What on earth are you talking about?” Thor gaped. “Warn you of what? Love?”

“Finding love is easy,” Loki said bitterly. “Keeping it is another matter entirely.”

“I can’t see into the future, Loki. I can’t tell you if this is going to end well or badly for you, just like I couldn’t tell with Jane Foster and myself. But for the short time that she lived, I was happy," Thor said, his voice cracking. "We were happy."

Loki looked away, not willing to look Thor's pain in the eye.

“I will not stand between you and happiness, Loki.”

“Happiness...” Loki’s wandering gaze dropped to his lap, and he sighed. “To yearn for happiness is to hope. To hope is to live half a life. It is a death sentence.”

Thor straightened his shoulders. He was nothing if not relentless. “Brother, hear me. If you care for him, let it be his decision.”

Loki closed his eyes lest his tears do the unthinkable such as falling. “I hear you, Thor, loud and clear."

"Then, why?"

"I am not ready," Loki sniffed. "I am simply not ready.”

Thor pinched his forehead. “What will you have me do?”

“Take me home,” Loki pleaded again. “Before I tie a knot I can’t undo.”

“I’ve never known you to run.”

“In all the centuries we’ve lived, how have you not realised?” Loki asked in disbelief. “Running is all I do.”

A sudden realisation dawned on Thor, hitting him like a ton of bricks.

“Of course,” Thor breathed out. “That explains it.”

“Explains what?” he heard Loki ask dimly.

“Why you’re running,” Thor said. “You are afraid that Barnes will not love this child.”

Loki’s jaw gave an imperceptible spasm.

“I have seen you two together, and there is no doubt in my mind that you love each other. And I have no doubt that if there is a child, they would be cherished,” Thor said. “Unequivocally.”

Loki averted his traitorous eyes, but his silence spoke volumes.

“It is either that, or you’re running just to see if he will chase after you.”

A swell of rage filled Loki’s chest and red swallowed his vision.

“To Hel with this!” With a snarl, he threw back the covers and catapulted out of the bed. He waved a hand and his belly returned to its former flatness, the maddening bump instantly hidden behind a glamour.

Thor wedged himself between Loki and the door, but Loki had other ideas.

The windows imploded with a loud crash with the force of Loki’s seidr. He was hoisting himself onto the ledge when the door swung open with a bang, nearly coming off its hinges.

A black shadow flew past Thor like the wind.

A low voice rasped, “Don’t you dare - ” and Loki found himself pulled backward, almost tripping on the pile of blanket on the floor.

If you don’t mind,” Bucky snapped at Thor, “I need to talk to your brother.”

“By all means,” and like the doctor before him, Thor slunk out of the room as fast as he could.

“You’re not leaving," Bucky growled. "Not before you tell me what’s really going on.”

“There is nothing going on!” Loki shouted.

“Bullshit. I haven’t seen or heard from you in days. Then you show up, looking like you’d rather be anywhere in the world but here, and what do you do next?” Bucky’s voice rose despite all his effort to remain calm. “You fell into the water and nearly killed yourself.”

"Please,” Loki scoffed. “That is an utter exaggeration - ”

"Shut up,” Bucky said quietly. “That day, you told me you had lost something. You couldn't tell me what it was. Or you chose not to, I don't know. Then you told me you love me. Was that a lie?”

“How can you say that?” Loki took a step back in horror, but Bucky’s metal fingers tightened around his wrist so tightly prying them apart would inevitably cause something to break.

“Then have the will to finish what you started!” Bucky shouted.

Loki’s face fell. “James…”

Bucky grabbed Loki’s other hand -

“Love me,” he pleaded. “Love me like you’ve loved the ones before me. Love me freely. Love me more.”

He crushed Loki’s icy fingers against his hot, flushed face. “Because I love the hell out of you.”

Loki stood stock-still, wide-eyed and silent.

Seconds passed, one heartbeat at a time.

“You said you were going to break my heart one day,” Bucky choked out, expecting the worst. “Don’t let it be today.”

“James,” Loki said faintly.

"Not today, Loki."

"Bucky," Loki called quietly. “I am with child.”

“What?”

“I am pregnant.”

All breath left Bucky like he had been socked in the gut. “You’re pregnant.”

Loki exhaled shakily, “I’m afraid so.”

“I, ah…I need to - ” Bucky swallowed. “I think I need to sit down.”

“So do I, it seems,” Loki gasped before his knees buckled.

Bucky grabbed Loki around the waist at the same time the glamour, hastily cast in the heat of the moment, fell away, revealing a burgeoning abdomen.

Bucky uttered a gasp. "What is this?"

"It's the child, it's - arghh!" Loki let out a cry as the pain intensified. Bucky hauled his writhing lover to his feet and helped him to the bed.

“Wait here, I’ll find the doctor,” Bucky said frantically. “I think he’s still around - “

“No, there is no need,” Loki panted. “Too much excitement, that’s all. I’m alright, truly.”

“The hell you are - !”

“It will pass.” Loki’s hand clawed the front of Bucky’s shirt, pulling him in. “Just stay with me.”

Torn between fear and anxiety, Bucky braced one hand on the bed and braved the other to feel Loki’s stomach.

When all he felt was soft, yielding flesh where a firm round mass had been only seconds ago, Bucky buried his face in Loki’s chest to stifle a mournful groan. “I don’t understand what’s going on...”

“I don’t either,” Loki said between a sob and a laugh. “But that’s okay…right?”

“You betcha.” Bucky pressed a fierce kiss to Loki’s sweat-dampened forehead. “We’ll figure it out.”

“Hmm,” Loki hummed, eyebrows scrunched together in knots.

Bucky tightened his hold around Loki. He thought of what Loki was carrying within him, the burden Loki must have endured ever since he knew. “You should have told me.”

Loki’s form gave a subtle jerk. “I know. I’m…sorry.”

“Gotta fix that window.”

“I’m sorry about that too.”

Bucky stared into the inky blinkness of Loki’s hair. “Why do I love you?”

“Dunno. You must be mad.”

Bucky chuckled softly. “I ain’t complaining.”

“I’m so tired.”

“Rest,” Bucky commanded. “We’ll talk more in the morning.”

“Urgh.”

The bit about Loki accusing Freyr and Freya of incest comes from Lokasenna, one of the poems in the Poetic Edda:
"Loki spake: 32. "Be silent, Freyja! | thou foulest witch, And steeped full sore in sin; In the arms of thy brother | the bright gods caught thee When Freyja her wind set free."
Njorth spake: 33. "Small ill does it work | though a woman may have A lord or a lover or both; But a wonder it is | that this womanish god Comes hither, though babes he has borne.""
Lokasenna is a poem in the "senna" genre, essentially an exchange of insults in poetic form, where Loki gets drunk and insults all the other gods, one by one, at a feast before being driven away by Thor. It has indeed been questioned how much of what Loki says in it was accepted as part of this or that mythical tradition, or if all if his accusations are made-up wholesome as part of a satirical poetic exercise. However, it's also been read as an expression of Loki as an ambiguous figure (as a jotun who was welcomed among the gods as Odin's blood-brother and friend but may act either for or against the gods and bringing positive or negative changes to their world depending on the myth) able to weave in and out of the gods' in-group, knowing it intimately but also offering an outsider's perspective on it at the same time, thus being able to bring up and expose uncomfortable and harsh truths, and highlighting what can be read as the hypocrisy of the gods, who are held as shining, dignified authorities in certain contexts but have plenty of flaws and make plenty of mistakes in others.
Also, we know for sure that at least SOME things Loki are true, which does cast some level of doubt *on* the doubt we might cast on the others: he accuses Odin of being unmanly (we know that's true because we know he is associated with a type of magic that's always regarded as "womanly" or "unmanly") and Frigg of having slept with both of Odin's brothers (an idea also reported elsewhere, together with the idea of her generally being an adulterer), mocks Tyr for having had his hand bitten off by Fenrir (that's the most important Tyr myth that survived after the Viking Age) and Freyr for giving up his sword (and the advantage it would have given him during Ragnarok) to gain Gerd as a bride (also an attested myth) then Heimdall for his unlucky position as the eternally-watchful sentinel of the gods (his main role in the myths), and claims to have slept with Sif (not *technically* attested, but fits well with Harbardsljod, another senna-type poem, where Thor is told in no uncertain terms that his wife has a lover that she has fun with while he's away from home, and also with Sif having a son, Ullr, who's on record as a *stepson* to Thor). He even admits to killing Balder (true... at the least in the version of the events the poem references) and foretells his own binding.
Then, there's also the fact that, for as many insults as Loki shoots at the gods, the gods fire just as many back, and the majority of those are also true: he's accused of being unmanly (true in many different ways), of having given birth (just look at the myth of the building of the wall of Asgard and how Odin got his horse Sleipnir), and of being unpleasant and sowing discord (... hard to argue with that, especially in context).
A point that should also be considered is that we do know from at least two pieces of writing that the Vanir gods (unlike the Aesir, who forbid it) practice incestuous relationships and even marriages. Specifically, brother/sister ones.
Again from the Lokasenna:
"Njorth spake: 35. "Great was my gain, | though long was I gone, To the gods as a hostage given; The son did I have | whom no man hates, And foremost of gods is found."
Loki spake: 36. "Give heed now, Njorth, | nor boast too high, No longer I hold it hid; With thy sister hadst thou | so fair a son, Thus hadst thou no worse a hope.""
From the Ynglinga Saga, in the context of an euhemerized account of the gods as kings and heroes of old:
"While Njord was with the Vanaland people he had taken his own sister in marriage, for that was allowed by their law; and their children were Frey and Freya. But among the Asaland people it was forbidden to intermarry with such near relations."
Personally, I tend not to give too much credit to people who look at the Norse gods doing weird/uncomfortable/gross/very sexual/kinky things and say "oh, but SURELY that must be a satire! A later invention that could NEVER be referencing some older tradition! A slanderous invention! The Christians putting their grubby little hands all over the myths to make the heathen gods look bad, even in the case of authors we know were just trying to preserve their people's history as they knew it or their traditional poetry and were actually more likely to try and ennoble or at least normalize them!" It's true that Germanic people did hold their gods in high regard and pray and sacrifice to them like any other culture, but that doesn't mean they thought of them as perfect, or were never wary of them, or never told stories about them doing things that they themselves wouldn't do.
There is a chance that Freyr and Freya weren't actually thought of as incestuous, and there is a chance they weren't even born out of an incestuous relationship (not only but chiefly due to wonky timelines/topics not being presented in the order we'd normally expect in a certain section of the Prose Edda ... which was written by Snorri Sturluson, the same guy who wrote the Ynglinga Saga, but make of that what you will), but honestly, I just don't see enough evidence to dismiss the material presented in the Lokasenna. Freya is also known as a very proud and headstrong character as well as overly lustful (like in the Hyndluljod poem, where she's accused of having allowed plenty of men under her skirts, or in the late Sorla thattr story, where she agrees to spend one night with each of the four dwarves working on a necklace for her, or in her association with love poetry, which was actually considered so powerful and dangerous, it was sometimes outlawed) so following her desires without caring for a law that's not even really her own doesn't strike me as particularly weird of her.
That's just my opinion, of course! Although, I would argue that, taken at face value and without digging into whatever mythological and literary nuances we might theorize, they ARE canon.
Please forgive the rant, I've always been really into Norse mythology and I actually had a lot of fun doing this little write-up! ^^
[x]
Thank you so much for this! It was wonderful to get a description of the facts from someone who is clearly very knowledgeable on the topic. I think we're all very inclined to agree with your conclusions.
I didn't realize that Loki's accusation against Freya was part of a series of accusations, at least some of which are "confirmed", so to speak. That's very promising indeed.
I only did a tiny bit of research but I did find at least a couple of sources that seemed very biased against Vanir incest, straining to disprove and such. A more open-minded approach might see Frey/Freya considered canon more often.

Secret Relationship: Hades Ultimate God, Sleipnir
Whoever requested this, honestly thank you~! This is suuuuch a breath of fresh air and I don’t blame you for like Sleipy. I loove the Magiranger aesthetic and I approooove~!
Warnings: It’s been like 80 years since I watched Magiranger and honestly, I don’t remember much but I’m going to do my best!! There may be a bit of OOC here and there but listen, imma fuckING TRY!!!
Tumblr media
Truth be told, it’s going to be difficult having a relationship with Sleipy. Even more so since the two of you are on opposite factions - especially if you’re an ally to the Magirangers. They will be supportive of this relationship you are having, but will not hesitate to fucking fight Sleipnir if anything goes wrong. Sleipnir on the other hand, the knight that he is, will honestly vow to never harm a single hair upon your head. He does not trust the Magirangers and he, too, will not hesitate to bash them if they harm you. You know he means well but...he needs to chill the fuck out. But seeing as you two are constantly keeping this on the down low...it’s not going to be pretty. By that, I mean there are days when you cannot see him.
It’s...lonely, beyond so. Especially for Sleipnir who never really had these sorts of emotions before. It’s this uneasy swirl within his head, he was raised to battle humans, to eradicate them from the face of the earth. But meeting you has changed him, strangely so. He isn’t sure if this is good or bad or not. His chest clenches in this uncomfy fashion whenever he thinks about you. It’s like a sword digging deeper and deeper into this cavity that shouldn’t really exist within his chest. It’s a strange flower blooming in the middle of a concrete jungle, something that shouldn’t survive but it fucking persists. It’s confusing, because he has a duty to uphold and yet he wants to abandon it for your sake...it’s two pulls and he doesn’t know where to go.
Whenever you two can, you meet under the guise of night and it’s your courage that guides you. Sleipnir wants to meet in places where he knows humans will not find you two - sometimes it’s a forest or the park in the dead of night or he finds a way to sneak into your home with the best of his abilities (I mean he is huge) so be ready to like...travel and get the most fucking whack ass sleep schedule. Though, it’s worth it when you’re by his side.
Sleipnir is still very much new to this sort of relationship idea. So it’ll take some coaxing and patience is very much key here. He’s a warmonger but stoic at the same time. He needs battle plans to take into each and every battle he goes through...and this? This sort of emotion erases every single thought from his head. He’s falling and he cannot stop. He has no plan and has to let his heart dictate for him. It’s scary...but if you catch him, that’s enough for him to be happy.
During these clandestine meetings, Sleipnir is the type of individual to enjoy simply being by your side. He has come to enjoy human literature and you two tend to read together under a flurry of fairy lights. Unsurprisingly, he likes reading about military history or The Art of War by Sun Tzu. It’s a wonderful feeling when you are cuddling next to him and he’s radiating this frigidness but...it’s not to be felt under his cloth blanket you brought along to this date. It’s calm, it’s quiet, you two are in your own little world and that’s all that matters.

【☀Lazy Sunday chase🐍🌾】
✧・゚: *: A Fan fiction : *✧・゚:*
This is a story that includings @heldril-blogs oc! Where she's a part of Loki's family and they're outside spending time with each other :] Enjoy!! ✨
Tumblr media
Loki and his family were spending a lazy Sunday afternoon together, lounging in the grass outside of Asgards walls. It was a rare occasion and one with unusual peace and relaxation for the trickster god, who always found himself up to no good.
Sigyn was lying on a picnic blanket, her eyes closed as she was soaking up the warm sunlight with a relaxed smile. Loki shifts his gaze at her and couldn't help but smile to himself.
"Sol really does help your freckles show, darling~" The god said softly, admiring his wife happily. The amount of joy he got from just staring at her was unbelievable.
"Oh is that so, have you been staring again~?" Sigyn chuckled, smirking at him. She could tell he had been staring at her and loved teasing him for it.
Loki let out a laugh as he felt his cheeks turn red, he should have known he would be caught sooner or later!
It wasn't often Sigyn's freckles were ever visible on her face. For some reason, they would only appear in bright sunlight over time, but so would the slight sun burns she so easily got. It was a shame!
In the distance Sleipnir, Fenrir, and Vali could be heard playing tag. They were always nearby and so very loud too!
It almost disturbed Hel as she was reading a book to Heldril and Narfi, both siblings sitting patiently listening. Meanwhile Jormungandr bathed in a lake near by.
Suddenly, Loki jumped up from his seat and announced, "I have an idea! Let's play a game everyone!"
Hel could be heard sighing intentionally loudly, "Oh father, and what could that possibly be?"
"Probably something silly, I bet" Narfi expressed, not seeming so enthusiastic as Hel.
"Oh I love games!" Sleipnir neighs, trotting over to the rest of his famliy, his brothers right behind him trying to keep up!
"Sleipnir youre always so eager for a new challenge or game aren't you? Just like fenrir." Jormungandr teases, turning into his more humanoid form to join in more easily on the family game.
"Oh shut it jormi! At least we have a sense of wanting to win around here, lazy bum" Fenrir barks at his snake brother. Much to Jormungandr's entertainment.
"Gosh you're so easy to make tense brother, ha!" Jormungandr spoke one last time before Loki stares at the two. Obviously telling them with his expression that it was time to stop.
"It's a new one I just invented at the spot," said Loki with a mischievous grin. "I'll hide somewhere in the woods, and you all have to come find me. But here's the twist - I can turn into any animal I want, and you have to chase me down."
The children and Sigyn all looked at each other excitedly at the prospect of the game, but Narfi, as always seemed a little hesitant.
"I don't know about this," said Narfi. "What if something goes wrong?"
Loki just laughed. "Relax, kid. It's just a harmless game. What could possibly go wrong?"
"Yeah brother! Listen to dad, If something goes wrong I'll protect you!" Heldril spoke proudly, always ready to protect her younger siblings from harms way.
"Well i- I was thinking more about pa-" Before Narfi could voice any further of his concerns, Vali jumps on top of him out of excitement. Causing the boy to fall on his back, "oof!"
"Oops- Let's start!!" He grind happily waving his hands around, still on top of Narfi.
"Okay, everyone close your eyes and count to ten," Loki instructed, as he snuck off into the woods to find a hiding spot.
With that the game began. Loki shifting into different animals along the way to get a head start. The children and Sigyn counted and waited before they started chasing after him, laughing and shouting.
The gods and creatures around the woods probably wondering what was going on.
The family split up. Everyone comping the woods, looking behind trees and under bushes, but Loki was nowhere to be found.
Suddenly, they heard a rustling in the bushes, and Fenrir let out a growl. "I think I smell him!" he exclaimed, as he took off in the direction of the sound.
Heldril and Narfi who had grouped up with fenrir followed him, running as fast as they could through the woods. Eventually Heldril stops as she saw Narfi gasping for air.
"Oh crap! Nari you alright buddy?" Heldril asks slightly concerned at her brothers well being. Narfi nodded just trying to catch his breath back.
"F-Fenrir is getting away we need to.."
"Get on my back brother!"
"Wha-?!"
Just like that Heldril picks Narfi up and runs her quickest to catch up with Fenrir again. Narfi was for sure taken by surprise but at least they'd make it!
Back together again, Heldril let's Narfi down and pants heavily, soon enough they caught glimpses of Loki in various animal forms - a bird, a rabbit, even a snake - it felt quite impossible to catch up to him.
Finally, after what felt like hours of chasing Loki through the woods, they all managed to corner him in a small clearing. Loki gave up and in his snake form, he carefully starts slithering up to Sigyn and around her arm she had offered him.
"You got me," Loki said with a sigh, sad they couldn't keep on playing forever.
Sigyn couldn't help but smirk as she clearly had something clever to say. As she held her husband up. "A snake huh, suits you at the very moment sly one" she spoke, teasing him excitedly.
Loki just hisses at her with his snake tounge as he transformed back into his human form and ends up in his wifes arms. "Oh shush!" He blushed rolling his eyes jokingly.
The children couldn't help but all collaps onto the ground, panting and laughing. Sigyn puts Loki down but continues to hold him close.
"That was truly an amazing adventure," Heldril said, her eyes shining with excitement.
"Absolutely! Can't wait to get back into the waters" said Jormungandr, grinning from ear to ear.
"Oh brother, such a selfish soul.." Hel shook her head in a joking manner, making fun of Jormungandr's behavior.
"Am not! I'm literally cooking out here and have for a long time now!" Jormungandr tries to defend himself, joking back. Waving his hand on himself to try to cool down.
"But seriously guys, good job! Next time, I'll be even trickier to catch." Loki jokes, picking up Vali who was exhausted to his limits. Tounge out and everything pretending to be dead.
Sigyn finds his behavior silly and chuckles, but gets to the point of what she was going to say. "Now, who's ready for some lunch?"
"You bet I am!" Fenrir barks, his tail wagging.
"Make that two, don't let the greedy wolf eat everything" Hel spoke, calmly hiding away her smirk.
"Hey! What was that for?!" Fenrir raised an eyebrow and looked offended.
"Make it three! I'd die for some juicy apples right now." Sleipnir happily joins in.
So with that the family went out of the woods and back to their picnic blanket. The rest of the afternoon was filled with food and joy, as Loki and his family enjoyed each other's company and the simple pleasure of being together.

Logyn Meta: Loki & Sigyn’s Family in Myth and Marvel (Comparison)
Tumblr media
The family that is ready to begin Ragnarok in order to defend your honor. It’s a tragic tale, but family is something worth fighting for!
Follow me as we explore this crazy, wonderful family that is probably the most famous of the Myth’s.
We may not know much about Sigyn’s side, but Loki’s side is one that legends are made of.
From the Norse Myths, to Marvel Comics and the MCU, we will see the similarities and differences for each member in the different universes as well as learn facts about each one and why they are important.
Tumblr media
Laufey (or Nál) - Loki’s Mother
NORSE MYTHOLOGY
She is Loki’s Mother in Mythology.
Mostly mentioned by the matronymic, “Loki Laufeyjarson” meaning: Loki Laufey’s Son.
Her name (Laufey) is typically thought to mean leaves/foilage. Nal means Needle.
Not much is known about her. We don’t even know if she was a Goddess, human or giant so it is assumed Loki gets his godhood from her.
In the poem Sörla þáttr, Nál and Laufey are portrayed as the same person: "She was both slender and weak, and for that reason she was called Nál [Needle]."
Laufey is listed among Ásynjar (goddesses) in one of the þulur, an ancestry that perhaps led her son Loki to be "enumerated among the Æsir", as Snorri Sturluson puts it in Gylfaginning.
Related to nature like forests and leaves.
MARVEL COMICS (Earth 616)
Laufey is Loki’s Father in this universe.
As Loki was born small, a motive of embarrassment for his parents, his existence was kept a secret.
A younger Loki sends Laufey into a fateful battle between Odin, leading the All-Father to claim Loki as a son. Laufey was left for dead, wounded, but alive, leaving a future Loki to kill him.
A group of Frost Giants try to revive Laufey by retrieving his skull. It ends with Malekith performing a spell to resurrect King Laufey.
Laufey hates Loki and thinks of him as a disgrace
It ends with Loki killing his father again after he tries to steal the Casket of Winters and kill Frigga.
MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE (MCU)
Same as Marvel Comics Counterpart. Appears in the first Thor movie.
Tumblr media
Fárbauti - Loki’s Father
NORSE MYTHOLOGY
He is Loki’s Father in Mythology.
Attested in the Prose Edda and in Kennings of Viking Age Skalds.
A Jotunn
The Old Norse name Fárbauti has been translated as 'dangerous striker','anger striker',or 'sudden-striker'.
Related to lightning
MARVEL COMICS (Earth 616)
Mother of Loki in this universe.
Gave birth to an unusually small child to the annoyance of her husband.
It is said the night Loki was born that she stabbed her own heart with an ice dagger, but Loki suspects Laufey is the one who killed her.
Appears as a figment taken on by a parasite. She’s mostly deceased in the comics.
MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE (MCU)
Does not appear or have a reference in the MCU
Tumblr media
Loki Laufeyjarson - Son of Laufey & Farbauti. Lover of Sigyn & Angrboda (and many others honestly)
NORSE MYTHOLOGY
Everyone already knows the tales about Loki, so I won’t repeat it all again. It’s pretty lengthy. I’ll just point down the basics for him with it.
He’s famous for causing trouble among the gods as the Trickster and God of Mischief. Not a bad guy, but misinterpreted that way, although he can be a dick too. Despite how much he causes trouble for them, he also helps them out of situations too. He just wants to have fun, even if he takes it overboard at times.
Some sources put as Jotun and some say he is Half-Jotun, Half-Aesir (on his mother’s side.)
A well-known Shapeshifter who can be anything: Salmon, Male, Female, Horse. The list just goes on.
A really handsome being who loved to get it on. *finger guns*
Blood Brother’s with Odin. How? We don’t know. It’s interpreted as a friendship or foster-brothers. It’s unclear really.
Gonna start Ragnarok for valid reasons honestly after having his entire family taken away from him or killed by the Gods. #TeamLoki
MARVEL COMICS (Earth 616)
Far too many appearances to document here from 1942 to present. There has been some retcons as well with the fact the current Loki has been reborn in a new incarnation also known as Ikol.
In the comics Loki is the adopted son of Odin and Frigga and Adoptive brother to Thor & Balder.
He’s depicted as being the God of Evil in the classic comics serval times. In fact, it’s one of his titles.
Depending on the writer for the classic comics, Loki can have moments of humanity, but all around he causes trouble.
Just wants to rule Asgard and get rid of Thor who is his enemy.
He’s honestly a bad guy most of the time in the classic comics #VillianTrope
I personally have yet to read any current comics of Loki that aren’t the classics so this is where my knowledge and research stops.
MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE (MCU)
First off, Tom Hiddleston as Loki is just *chefs kiss* perfection.
Pretty much the same as comics except for the fact he isn’t really a villain. He plays tricks on people for fun and laughs and truly cares about his family.
However, things change when he discovers the truth that he is a Jotun and has been lied to about it his whole life despite being told countless stories of how Jotun’s are monsters to be slain (You fucked up a perfectly good kid, Odin. Look, he has anxiety and trauma.)
He develops major identity problems on top of others things, but despite it, Loki tries to still do best by his family as he wants to belong. Yes, he becomes a villain in The Avengers movie, but not for the hell of it. #Thanos
Honestly, he just deserves better. That’s where this leads. Thank you.
Tumblr media
Angrboda - Loki’s Consort/Lover (Fenrir, Jormungandr & Hel’s Mother)
NORSE MYTHOLOGY
She is only mentioned once in the Poetic Edda as the mother of Fenrir by Loki. The Prose Edda describes her as "a giantess in Jotunheim" and as the mother of three monsters: the wolf Fenrir, the Midgard serpent Jörmungand, and the ruler of the dead Hel.
A Jotun known as Mother of Monsters and Giantess of Ironwood.
In Old Norse, Angrboda means: 'the one who brings grief', 'she-who-offers-sorrow', or 'harm-bidder'.
According to scholars, the name Angrboða is probably a late invention dating from no earlier than the 12th century, although the tradition of the three monsters born of Loki and a jötunn may be of a higher age.
Some scholars say she was a very powerful witch and that she had the ability to see into the future. She was confined to Hel and would not be released from the realm of the dead until Loki was unbound.
In some versions of the Myth’s she knows her children will bring about the end of the world (Ragnarok) as well as being a witch set on fire three times before Loki eats her heart.
MARVEL COMICS (Earth 616)
A giantess of Jotunheim and a Witch.
Born to Elderspawn Vârcolac and Echidna.
She mated with Loki and gave birth to Fenrir and Jormungadr. Legends say she also gave birth to Hela, but it seems to be nothing more but legends.
Angrboda died of unknown causes and was sent to the Underworld of Hel.
When Thor needed to know how to get to Hela's realm because she had been taking mortals to Niffleheim, he went to the Hlidskjalf and summoned Angerboda from the underworld, forcing her to tell him how to get there. Once she revealed to Thor the path he had to follow, she tried to take him with her to the underworld.
Only has one appearance in the comics -- Thor #360 (1985)
MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE (MCU)
Does not appear or have a reference in the MCU

Sleipnir - Loki’s Son
NORSE MYTHOLOGY
Attested in the Poetic and Prose Edda. In both Sleipnir is Odin's eight-legged steed and child of Loki by Svaðilfari. He is described as the best of all horses.
The Prose Edda contains extra information saying he is grey.
Old Norse meaning: Slippy or the Slipper.
Sleipnir is also mentioned in a riddle found in the 13th century legendary saga Hervarar saga ok Heiðreks, in the 13th-century legendary saga Völsunga saga as the ancestor of the horse Grani, and book I of Gesta Danorum, written in the 12th century by Saxo Grammaticus, contains an episode considered by many scholars to involve Sleipnir. Sleipnir is generally accepted as depicted on two 8th century Gotlandic image stones: the Tjängvide image stone and the Ardre VIII image stone.
Scholarly theories have been proposed regarding Sleipnir's potential connection to shamanic practices among the Norse pagans.
Sleipnir was born when Loki shape-shifted into a mare and became pregnant by the stallion of a giant, as is recounted in the tale of The Fortification of Asgard.
MARVEL COMICS (Earth 616)
There are two different origins for Sleipnir in the comics: 1. Thor fighting off an army of the undead on Midgard. He promised to help as long as his horses weren’t eaten, however, Thor was betrayed and took his horses remains back to Asgard, coupling it with Asgardian Magic to create Sleipneir. 2. Loki had hastily agreed to let a Frost Giant re-build the wall around Asgard, in exchange for the Moon, the Sun, and Freya, only he had to do it in six months. The Frost Giant had only asked to use his grey stallion, Svadilfari. Right as the last brick was about to be placed, Loki transformed into a beautiful white mare, and lured Svadilfari off. Loki later gave birth to Sleipnir. (Just like in the Myths.)
MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE (MCU)
Odin’s eight-legged steed.
Sleipnir’s origins are unknown. He appears in the first Thor Movie.
Tumblr media
Fenrir Wolf - Loki & Angrboda’s Son
NORSE MYTHOLOGY
Attested in the Prose and Poetic Edda as the first son of the Jotun couple. He is a wolf destined to kill Odin. So, they bind and seal him when he's still young, with Tyr losing his arm in the process. When Ragnarok comes, he indeed kills Odin, but is killed by Odin's son Vidar in return.
Fenrir is the father of the wolves Sköll and Hati Hróðvitnisson.
In the Prose Edda, additional information is given about Fenrir, including that, due to the gods' knowledge of prophecies foretelling great trouble from Fenrir and his rapid growth, the gods bound him, and as a result Fenrir bit off the right hand of the god Týr.
No chain can hold him, except for Gleipnir, a rope made by Dwarves containing the roots of a mountain, the breath of a fish, the sound of a cat's footfall, the sinews of a bear, the beard of a woman and the spittle of a bird, all of which were impossible items to obtain.
MARVEL COMICS (Earth 616)
Pretty much the same as his Mythos with some additional storylines.
When Raganrok happened, Fenrir was reborn with the other gods on the New Asgard universe on Midgard. No details of his fate on Earth have been revealed.
Fenrir helped the mutant Wolfsbane as she was carrying the child of one of his descendants.
It is one of the few individuals believed to be more powerful, or equally as powerful, as Dormammu; the others being galactic entities like The Beyonder.
Fenrir is Genderfluid in the comics.
MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE (MCU)
Fenris is a giant Asgardian Wolf who serves under Hela and is portrayed as Female. She resurrects her as they take over Asgard.
Instead of being her brother, Fenris is her loyal companion and mount.
Fenris ends up getting into a fight against Hulk as he pushes her off, sending her falling into the void below to her supposed death.
Appears in Thor: Ragnarok.
Tumblr media
Hel - Loki & Angrboda’s Daughter
NORSE MYTHOLOGY
Attested in the Prose and Poetic Edda. She is a giantess/goddess who resides over the Underworld that is also called Hel, a place where many of the dead reside. She is the daughter of Loki and Angrboda, sister to Fenrir and Jormungandr and usually depicted as the youngest of the three.
Goddess of Death and Graves and ruler of Hel who welcomes the souls of those who died of old age, disease or by accident.
Hel is described as having been appointed by the god Odin as ruler of a realm of the same name, located in Niflheim.
The Prose Edda details that Hel rules over vast mansions with many servants in her underworld realm and plays a key role in the attempted resurrection of the god Baldr.
Old Norse Name Meaning: Hidden
She’s mostly mentioned only in passing. Snorri describes her appearance as being half-black, half-white, and with a perpetually grim and fierce expression on her face.
MARVEL COMICS (Earth 616)
Renamed Hela in the comics.
Allegedly the daughter of Loki and Angrboda, but it’s never made clear or stated. Hela's genealogy is the subject of controversies and retellings.
Her path pretty much follows her Mythos where she is destined to do terrible things and Odin makes her the ruler over the dead in the realms of Hel and Niflheim until maturity.
At some point, she was considered the daughter of Odin and of a long-lost goddess.
Honestly, she usually tries to expand her powers, wanting to rule over Vahalla and obtain Asgardian souls.
MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE (MCU):
Appears in Thor: Ragnarok as Odin’s firstborn and only daughter. Sister to Thor and Loki.
Kinda pissed her dad locked her away and wants to rule Asgard and take revenge.
The cause of Ragnarok and supposedly dies on Asgard after everything is said in done in the movie.
Tumblr media
Jormungandr - Loki & Angrboda’s Son
NORSE MYTHOLOGY
Usually depicted as the middle child of Loki and Angrboda, he is known as the Midgard Serpent or World Serpent who is a giant snake. When Odin takes Loki’s kids away from him, he tosses Jormungadr into the ocean that encircles Midgard. The serpent grew so large that is was able to surround the Earth and grasp it’s own tail. When it releases it’s tail, Ragnarok will begin and he will fight his arch-enemy, Thor.
The major sources for myths about Jörmungandr are the Prose Edda, the skaldic poem Húsdrápa, and the Eddic poems Hymiskviða and Völuspá. Other sources include the early skaldic poem Ragnarsdrápa and kennings in other skaldic poems; for example, in Þórsdrápa, faðir lögseims, "father of the sea-thread", is used as a kenning for Loki. There are also several image stones depicting the story of Thor fishing for Jörmungandr.
MARVEL COMICS (Earth 616)
Both Loki and Angerboda were descended from the Frost Giants of Jotunheim and were of humanoid appearance; however, the sons Angerboda bore Loki, Jormungand and the Fenris Wolf, did not. It has been suggested that Jormungand and the Fenris Wolf were born as sentient animals because their parents each had the magical ability to change his or her own shape. Hence, Jormungand and the Fenris Wolf each bear the form of the animal that their parents had assumed at the moment they were conceived.
Jormungandr follows the same as his Mythos to a certain degree with his fate to fight Thor during Ragnarok as the God of Thunder would die from his venom.

Tumblr media
Sigyn - Loki’s Wife
NORSE MYTHOLOGY
Sadly, not many stories that have Sigyn in them have survived to this day. She is only attested in the followings works: Poetic Edda & Prose Edda.
The most famous of her story tells of how Loki has been bound by the gods with the guts of his son, Nari, and how his son, Vari, has been turned into a wolf. The Goddess Skadi fastens a venomous snake over Loki’s face, from which venom drips. Sigyn, stated as Loki’s wife, stays by his side and holds a basin under and catches the venom so it won’t drip onto her husband, but when the basin grows full, she pulls it away to empty it, during which time venom drops onto Loki, causing him to wither so violently that earthquakes occur that shake the entire earth.
In the poem, Gylfaginning, Sigyn is introduced in Chapter 31 as being married to Loki and that they have a son by the name of “Narfi or Nari”. She is then mentioned again in Chapter 50 where events are described differently than in Lokasenna; Vali, described as a son of Loki only, is changed into a wolf by the gods and rips apart his brother, “Narfi or Nari.” The guts of Nari are then used to tie Loki to three stones, after which the guts turn to iron, and Skadi places a snake above Loki. Sigyn of course catches the venom in a bowl. This process is repeated until he breaks free, setting Ragnarok into motion.
In the poem, Skáldskaparmál, Sigyn is introduced as a goddess, an Æsir, where the gods are holding a feast for their visitors and in kennings for Loki: “husband of Sigyn” and “cargo [Loki] of incantation-fetter’s [Sigyn’s] arms.”
Old Norse Name meaning: Victory Girlfriend.
MARVEL COMICS (Earth 616)
Lonely and looking for female companionship, Loki ends up coming across Sigyn and plans to make her his. However, she is already engaged to a warrior of Odin’s Crimson Hawks -- Theoric. Hence, Loki sets up a trap to have Theoric killed during a mission so Loki can disguise himself as Theoric. Once they are wed, Loki reveals himself and despite Odin attempting to annul the marriage (which goes against Asgardian Law)), Sigyn tells the Allfather that she will follow the duties of a loyal wife since she is Loki’s now.
This is when Odin proclaims her to be the Goddess of Fidelity. This was a thing first started by the Marvel Comics.
Sigyn doesn’t have much of an agency in the comics except being a loyal wife to Loki, sometimes going along with his plans or getting on him for it.
I personally haven’t been able to find any evidence of Sigyn’s parents being Iwaldi and Freya in the comics, so I’m not sure if this fact is Fanon or not.
Sigyn has suddenly seemed to vanish from the comics with her last official appearance being in 1996. It has been allueded at that she died or was killed during Ragnarok.
Her relationship with Loki in the comics is...complicated and changes a lot depending on the writer.
MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE (MCU)

Narvi/Narfi & Vali - Loki & Sigyn’s Sons
NORSE MYTHOLOGY
Not much is known about Narfi and Vali except for being Loki & Sigyn’s sons with Vali being transformed into a wolf by the gods and killing his brother whose inners are used as a chain to bind Loki in the cave.
Narfi and Vali are referred to in a number of sources. According to the Gylfaginning section of Snorri Sturluson's Prose Edda, he was also called Nari and was killed by his brother Váli, who was transformed into a wolf; in a prose passage at the end of the Eddic poem "Lokasenna", Váli became a wolf and his brother Nari was killed.
Snorri also names "Nari or Narfi" as the son of Loki and his wife Sigyn earlier in Gylfaginning, and lists "father of Nari" as a heiti for Loki in the Skáldskaparmál section of his work.
Narfi’s name could mean “Corpse” in Old Norse, relating to how he was killed by his brother.
There's no mention of what became of Vali after he became a wolf.
MARVEL COMICS (Earth 616)
Narvi never makes an appearance in the comics and is only mentioned in: Free Comics Book Day Vol 2018 Avengers.
There is a Vali in the comics called Vali Halfling. He is the son of loki and a unnamed mortal woman. So, I don’t consider this to be the same Vali that is the son of Loki and Sigyn.

Thanks for reading everyone. This required a bunch of research, but I hope this helps and has been educational. We only have what we can work with considering the surviving myths, but there is so many stories out there that we don’t know of that aren’t clear because of it.
I tried my best to cover everything I knew about them in Marvel too, but sometimes so many retcons is too much to keep up with. I know there may be some errors in places, but it’s the best I could get this with what we have to work with.

Baking
Pairing: Sam Wilson x reader
Summary: Sam comes home from a mission and needs a remedy
Warnings: None
Word count: 1232
A/N: So, a few days ago, @bibbidibobbidibucky posted this and that got my muse out of her hiding place so here’s “Baking”!
You heard the door to your apartment on one of the residential floors of the tower open and a soft thud of something being set down in the small hallway.
“I’m in the living room, love!” You called out and a second later, Sam poked his head in the door.
His brows were drawn together and even from the couch and with only the slightest part of Sam looking into the room, you could see the tenseness in his neck and shoulders. Now, you were both glad you hadn’t been called on that mission and, well guilty wasn’t the right word but it was close, because maybe if you had been there, something would have gone differently and the mission would have gone a little bit better.
“Could we bake something?” Sam asked in his normal voice, but you knew him better.
That was his code for “This was a shitty day but I need to do something but I also need to calm down but I can’t just sit somewhere.”
“Of course. We’ll have the whole kitchen to ourselves and in the morning everyone’s gonna wake up to sweets.”
Yes, it was 1 am. Yes, you had stayed up all night to wait for him. But it didn’t matter, of course, it didn’t matter. He’d do the same for you.
---
Down in the kitchen, the incredibly big kitchen with every appliance you could wish for. Sam wordlessly got out the basic ingredients. Sugar. Flour. Baking soda. Butter. Salt. Vanillin sugar. Each ingredient had its place on the left side of the kitchen island. In the middle were the blender, all kinds of spatulas and other utensils. On the right were the different cake pans.
“What do you wanna make? Any preferences?” You asked.
“No, you choose.”
“Okay.”
Turning back to the cupboards, you got almost everything out you could get your hands on. Cream cheese. Chocolate. Nuts. Peanut butter. Coffee powder.
“Coffee powder?” Sam looked at the additional things in front of the basics.
“Yeah. You trust me?”
“Always.”
You two were a well-oiled baking machine by now. Sam prepared the ingredients. Chopping up nuts, breaking chocolate into pieces to put into a double boiler with butter, folding in the different ingredients in the bowls. You did everything that involved machines and utensils. Sam spread out the different kinds of batter in the different forms.
Tonight, the cheesecake batter came first. Then batter for the cappuccino nut cake. The brownie batter was the last.
As the tins were in the ovens, you sat Sam down at the kitchen island.
“Wanna talk about it?”
Several seconds passed.
“Yes.”
Sam took a deep breath and finally looked at you.
“I couldn’t protect him. I feel like I failed.”
“You couldn’t protect who?”
“The guy we were supposed to get out there.”
“But I didn’t hear anything about someone not making it. The med bay was on standby the whole time and even now, there’s no one there being treated because of something belatedly happening” You wondered.
“I was supposed to get to him when the way was cleared and then get him out to the drop off point. On the way out, I had to start flying, because part of the structure started to collapse and just as I was taking off with him in my arms, he got shot in the leg.”
“But you got him out.”
“Y/N, he got shot on my watch. I couldn’t even protect him with my wings! Not even with the new, bigger ones!”
You took Sam’s face between your hands to force him to look at you.
“Sam. Look at my face.” He did as you asked. “Can I walk you through what I just gathered from you telling me this?”
He nodded.
“You and the others had a mission to get a guy out of where he was held and to drop him off. The others cleared the way and you were tasked with actually getting the guy. On the way out, you needed to fly out, because walking wasn’t an option anymore. You and the guy got out. You’re unharmed and he got shot in the leg. Right so far?”
Sam nodded again.
“Could you have taken off safely or at all with just one of your wings spread all the way and the other spread but more or less hanging vertically?”
“No.”
“So, you did the one thing you could to get both of you out of there safely. You said it yourself, walking wasn’t an option anymore.”
“But if I had bigger wings-“ He started.
You stopped him with a finger to his lips.
“So? What would happen then? You’d give over the mantle of The Falcon and become what? The Angel? Or what- what’s this winged horse called? Sleipnir?”
“Sleipnir has eight legs. No wings in sight. You mean the Pegasus.”
“Right. That.”
“But, bigger wings mean more protection.”
“And if something would happen then?”
“I wouldn’t let anything happen.”
“Sam. You and I both know you cannot guarantee nothing ever happening on any mission ever.”
“But-“
“Look, it’s admirable of you that you wanna help everyone and don’t wanna see anyone hurt unless there’s a bigger cause, but you have to look after yourself, too.”
“I do!”
“I mean, really look after yourself. Giving advice to veterans is awesome and so you know what advice to give. Can you try to do that for me?”
Sam looked down at the kitchen island and was silent for a long time. The timers on the ovens dinged before he looked up at you.
“Yes. I can.”
“That’s all I ask of you.”
You didn’t remember who, but someone had bullied Tony into buying one of those simple coffee machines to stand right next to the fancy one. One that just brewed the coffee and nothing more, just black coffee and now you brewed the coffee needed for one of the cakes.
You took the tins out to cool down so you could put the peanut butter cream on the brownies, the mascarpone coffee cream on the nut cake and the liquid chocolate on the cheesecake and then put everything in the fridge.
“All done. Wanna go back to bed?” You asked.
“Yeah. Thank you for this” There was Sam’s smile again.
When you laid in bed, and you were close to falling asleep, Sam turned to you.
“Did we forget something? I feel like we forgot something.”
“No, we put all the stuff in the fridge, we cleaned everything up, no flour’s coating the kitchen…”
“Remember the flour accident?”
“How could I not? Better that than some accident with eggs…” You laughed.
---
Waking up more or less early the next morning was surprisingly easy and you both ambled down to get your fill of coffee and maybe something to eat. The kitchen was filled with people. Half of them were awake and the other half just slouched against the countertops with coffee in their hands.
“Does it smell like cheesecake to anyone else? Or brownies?” Steve yawned. “And-“
“Don’t say coffee” Wanda mumbled sleepily.
You and Sam looked at each other from the corners of your eyes.
“Who is always putting the coffee grounds in the sink?” Now, Tony was fully awake.
“I told you we forgot something” Sam mumbled to you.
“Still better than exploding flour” You said dryly.

From Barnabas to Cid “you are waiting for someone who is not coming back.”
SENTENCE MEME ⟶ RUPI KAUR / THE SUN AND HER FLOWERS + @ruiination
It truly does feel as though Barnabas -- the one Cid met so many years ago -- has gradually faded away. The progression was slow enough to escape Cid's notice for a time. It was in this delay that Barnabas' military aggression ramped up; his commands began to rub Cid the wrong way and his demands for loyalty came at the cost of too many lives.
The Barnabas that exists today is more Eikon than Dominant, more conqueror than King. The atrocities that have come to pass under his command are entirely too much to carry out or remain complicit in.
Cid feels ashamed that it's taken him this long to walk away. He feels foolish, selfish for viewing the man through rose-colored glasses while so much destruction was wrought by Barnabas, and by his own hands, too.
The nostalgia of what once was sits in the pit of Cid's stomach, a bittersweet mix of fondness and deep disappointment. He still isn't sure how to reconcile these things for himself but that has to be dealt with on his own. This can't wait any longer.
"I know," he says through gritted teeth, "I never expected you to be a perfect man, Barnabas. But you had a shred of humanity once upon a time - you were a leader worth following. Do you understand the cruelty you've become capable of?"
Cid truly does wonder if Barnabas comprehends the carnage he's made of Waloed (and Valisthea as a whole, at this point). Though he can't prove it in any concrete way, there seems to be someone -- or something -- pulling Barnabas' strings. Sleipnir follows his lead without question, though Cid has always felt ill at ease with him. Sleipnir's aloof manner of doing the King's bidding is disconcerting. It's a mentality Cid has never been able to understand.
But when Cid goes too far down the rabbit hole of speculating the source of Barnabas' decisions, he realizes that he's merely grasping at straws. It matters not if someone else is at the helm of his actions. He's still the mouthpiece, he's still the puppet. Barnabas has blood on his hands nonetheless.
"I'd hazard a guess that there's a lot going on behind the scenes that I'm not privy to, but that's just as well. Ignorance is bliss and all that," Cid speaks, throwing up his hands in surrender. "All the same, I can't do this anymore. I couldn't live with myself if I did." Cid exhales deeply, then takes a step closer to him.
"i didn't envision us parting ways like this, Barnabas. I hope you know that. If it was different--" he pauses, 'if you were different'. Cid shakes his head, knowing how futile it is to attempt changing his mind. "In any case -- I resign as Lord Commander, effective immediately. I'll be taking my leave by sundown."
It's so tempting to linger and beseech Barnabas to change. But how can he possibly persuade him to change course? Too much damage has been done and his trajectory has progressed too far to backpedal. There's no hope for redemption.
Instead, Cid forces himself to leave the room. There are preparations to make for departure, belongings to pack, and farewells to be said.

AC Valhalla thoughts after playing so uh Spoilers
But honestly I wonder how much of Norse mythos they’re going to add into Basim’s memories because *sweats* it’s so much messier than what the game showed dhdjd. Being bound with your son’s intestines till Ragnarok is not conducive to mental stability.
Basim’s reluctance to count Hytham as something even close to family really pulls at the heartstrings... At least with his mythology family, he knows he will have them and they won’t die/leave. The Loki in Basim really does not want to lose another child after Sleipnir, Fenrir, Jörmungandr, Hel, and Narfi. Heck, Eivor loses his Baldur in terms of Ceolbert so I cannot exactly blame him for not wanting to feel care towards Hytham.
I mean I have seen this concept Loki is controlling Basim, and Basim is stuck backseat driving but I’m not sure... Eivor separates from Odin because Eivor is nothing but a vessel for Odin to live forever from. However, Loki does not want his reincarnation as a simple immortal life, he’s searching for his family. I think the reason Basim remembers his life as Loki (presumably) without intense torture or the help of outside spiritual guidance is because Loki is not focused on the whole living after Ragnarok thing (as much). Basim and Loki’s goals are irreversibly interwoven compared to Eivor being Odin’s human-Isu meat-bag.
Which in terms of Loki’s children,,,, how the hell are they reincarnated too??? Does Basim need to get Angrboda/Aletheia a human vessel and get it on??? Is it even possible to get her mind out of the staff into someone/something else? I wonder how many of Loki’s children he’s counting as "the fam" because if he is going to try and get Sleipnir (a literal horse) and Narfi... he must of somehow gotten his children reincarnated too. Fenrir, Jörmungandr, and Hel are all with Angrboda so they are most likely who Basim is talking about to Eivor’s grave. But Loki does not seem like a person to half-ass getting his children back so...
Also I wonder what Basim is gonna do with the modern day assassins. He’s either going to actually help them against the Templars or he is going to use them to track down his children. Part of me feels that those plots are going to be interwoven. I mean if I knew my sworn enemies now had a reincarnated Isu with them,,, I would try and use his children as leverage. Nothing like a tacky wolf shirt wearing, 9th century, dad assassin getting pissed about you withholding his children from him. Templars the Idiots.

chapter 7 (the end? I'm not sure yet)
Title: Winter's Frost Chapter: 7/? Fandom: MCU Rating: R to be on the safe side Pairing: Loki/Bucky Summary: Loki never told anyone the real reason he became so obsessed with Midgard. Much better to let them think he wanted to hurt his brother than draw their attention to the one thing in the universe that makes the God of Mischief truly vulnerable.
WARNINGS: m/m, reference to rape Notes: since I don't read comic books and am a huge Loki (mythology) nerd, I'm pulling on some actual Norse mythology in this one. I've referenced Loki's shapeshifting/gender-bending abilities before, but here I go into something a bit more specific, and take a teensy bit of creative license in the process. so if you're reading and are like "wtf that didn't happen in the movies/comics!" that's because that's not the source material I was using.
The Bifrost was his last resort. The Destroyer had failed to even keep Thor in line or take out the bumbling idiots who didn't even know they were harboring HYDRA within their ranks. Loki had some power, but no allies, and it would take too long for him to ferret out every HYDRA operative hiding on Midgard, but if he could simply wipe SHIELD off the map, that seemed like a good start. But first he needed to know just how destructive the Bifrost really was. Could it be used for a surgical strike? Could he take out one building at a time, or would it truly destroy an entire planet?
Bucky would never forgive him if he destroyed his entire home world just to ensure that his captors were dead.
The obvious solution was, of course, a practice run. It was a good thing he had the perfect target in mind. He would destroy Jotunheim entirely, ensure there was no one left to avenge Laufey, and see how long it took to erase the planet from the cosmos. If the destruction took a while, if he could center it on one thing and have the damage radiate out from there, then after his cursed birthplace was eradicated, he could turn the Bifrost on SHIELD's headquarters. Then, all that remained was to go down, grab Bucky, and then come back and destroy the bunker in Siberia. There would be no more torture, no more Winter Soldiers. No more trauma for the man he loved.
Oh, who let bloody Thor out of his desert cell? The meathead always had to complicate everything. Loki lacked the time, and frankly the patience, to deal with his self-righteous adoptive brother's newfound life purpose, which seemed to be 'annoy Loki by any means necessary.' Not so new, then, he supposed. Simply a new method.
I don't have time for this, you oaf! "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to destroy Jotunheim!"
For all that it lacked delicacy, he really felt this plan was a perfect win-win. His father would wake to find his oldest enemies eradicated, his heir apparent revealed as the reckless idiot Loki had always known him to be, and a new heir standing proud and ready to take his place. Bucky would be safe and sound, and since all of his friends and family were likely dead by now, there would be nothing to tie him to Midgard any longer. Perhaps he could be convinced, finally, to come home with him to Asgard and rule by his side. With Loki's shapeshifting power, they could even have a family. Hopefully Odin would stop keeping Loki's children as pets. Truth be told, he was still a little bitter about Sleipnir; unintentional though his conception had been, he was still Loki's son.
Even if Odin didn't see reason when it came to Thor, now that the idiot had fallen in love with a human of his own – after a weekend – that could at least pave the way for Loki to come forward about his own star-crossed love, and maybe be accepted at last. At the end of the day, he had no real interest in ruling Asgard, only stepping out of his brother's shadow and not facing ridicule for who his heart chose. He didn't even know anymore what he was more afraid of; Odin finding out he'd fallen for another man, or Odin finding out he'd fallen for a human.
"Loki, you can't kill an entire race!"
"Why not?" He laughed, though he was more confused than anything else. Since when did Thor care? "Oh, what is this newfound love for the Frost Giants? You could have killed them all with your bare hands!"
"I've changed."
In three days? He doubted it, but he supposed stranger things had happened. It didn't really matter; all he wanted in that moment was to prove to Thor, and to himself, that all his years of practice had meant something; that he was truly every bit the warrior his brother was. Mostly, though, he wanted to kill time and keep Thor from breaking through the ice barrier to stop the Bifrost. It was taking its sweet time tearing Jotunheim apart; that was frustrating with Thor there waiting to muck things up, but encouraging for his true purpose.
"Loki, this is madness!"
"Is it madness? Is it?!" You have no idea! "Come on, what happened on Earth that's turned you so soft?! Don't tell me it was that woman!" I've spent years mourning a love I built and cherished and could tell no one about, and you get to parade around proud as a peacock after spending three days with her?! That is madness!
The look on Thor's face told him everything he needed to know, and he almost vomited. It wasn't just the ridiculously brief time he'd spent with her; Thor could do no wrong in their father's eyes. Even if he marched right up to Odin and announced that he intended to marry this woman and make her his Queen, he would suffer no consequences. No one would dare to speak against the heir apparent; the witless wonder could have anything and everything he wanted! Meanwhile Loki was raped in the service of one of Odin's pettier schemes, and he was ridiculed as weak and a pitiful clown, the son he bore taken from him to be ridden into battle like he was little more than another expendable tool for Odin to use and discard.
The more he thought about how differently their father treated them, the more embarrassed he felt for having been surprised to learn he was adopted. Stolen, really; like everything else Odin thought might one day prove useful. And still, Loki loved him. Still, he looked up to Odin as a father and wanted his love and acceptance. Odin had tormented and humiliated him for most of his life, and Loki still wanted to make him proud. How pathetic.
He was too distracted; too lost in his own spiraling thoughts. Thor kept getting the upper hand, and it was only thanks to Loki's talent for illusion and duplicate-casting that he hadn't outright lost yet. At least he did have those things going for him.
"Enough!"
Damn. Too stunned by how hard he'd landed to move, he could only watch helplessly as his adoptive brother approached, certain Thor would kill him. Instead, he sat Mjolnir on Loki's chest. The blasted thing weighed a ton! He could feel it crushing his chest, preventing him from moving and making it harder and harder to breathe. The painful weight of it was too much to bear, but he refused to suffer in silence.
"Look at you," he taunted with what little breath he could muster. "The mighty Thor! With all your strength... And what good does it do you now, huh?!" He could swear the stupid hammer was getting heavier by the second. He could feel the weight of it cracking his ribs, and he winced, gasping for air.
"Do you hear me, brother? There's nothing you can do!"
And suddenly it was gone, and the bridge was shaking. Stunned, he lifted his head to look, and saw Mjolnir back in Thor's hand. "What are you doing?" No, no, NO! He sat up, horrified as he watched his brother smash his hammer down over and over again. "If you destroy the bridge, you'll never see her again!" I'll never see him again!
No, he couldn't let this happen! Never mind all his desperate half-thought-out plans to save Bucky and destroy HYDRA... He couldn't bear the thought of losing him forever! It'd been hard enough to go on living when he'd thought his beloved was dead; knowing he lived but was a helpless slave, alone with no one to protect him, to rescue him? Loki would rather die.
It hurt to move, but he had to get up. He had to stop Thor! If he destroyed the Bifrost, Bucky would be left alone in the clutches of his enemies forever!
The world was a blur for a moment. He was running at his brother, the bridge was shuddering beneath their feet, there was a blinding flash, and then suddenly Loki was dangling over an empty void, his only tether to solid ground his grip on the end of Odin's staff. Thor held the other end for dear life, though he, too, dangled precariously over open air. How had they not both fallen yet?
Odin. Odin was holding onto Thor to keep both of his sons from flying off into oblivion. Did he know what Loki had done? What he'd tried to do? Was he finally proud?
"I could have done it, Father! I could've done it! For you!" For Bucky... "For all of us!"
"No, Loki."
He didn't care. No matter what he did, Loki would never be good enough; would never be Thor's equal in their father's eyes. And worse, now his only link to Midgard and to the man he loved was gone. Now Loki didn't care. To Hell with them all.
A strange sense of peace, of surrender, came over him and, without a single thought nor care for what might happen, he let go. The sensation of falling with nowhere to land was strangely comforting. Perhaps the next life would be kinder to him than this one had been.

‼️Trigger Warnings: Mention of someone's death, small suggestive theme (of someone changing, but it's very innocent and does not have anything explicit!)‼️

Sigyn💚
Angrboda💙
After Angrboda's passing, no one knew where she had ended up. Angrboda was just barely recognized when spoken about, either as a ugly old hag, a witch that finally met her well deserved end! Or as Loki's three monstrous children's, dear old mother. But that was all, for a very long time too. Sometimes even her name was forgotten, which in it all was terribly tragic. As those who did know her, knew she was a woman skilled in many things, from using magic, to preparing for a good battle. She wasn't afraid of anything, not until that day where she would have met her end.
That's what most would say, those who still held this information. It was told by her old tribe, those of the iron woods. The giantesses whose children were that of wolves. Who even after centuries still looked up to Angrboda's image and told the tales of things she had gone through. But sadly, no one knew what the ending was, at least they wouldn't know. Because Loki did. Loki, the god who Angrboda was known to treasure more than her own weapons, cold and silver. Either she had wrapped him around her finger, or perhaps it was even the opposite? No one could truly tell who had charmed who…but nor the ending to her story, unless it was Loki himself.
But the trickster was very secretive when it came to just this..
Now a spirit, a ghost roaming the 9 realms at her own command, Angrboda was at last, no longer in that horrid uncomfortable earth grave she had slept in for eons. No, now she was gaining back her unused muscles as she updates herself on her family, definitely very different from when she last was a part of it. She always watched over them, protecting them however she possibly could. Which is what led her to suddenly be taking a liking to some of them, like her own children all grown up, the new additions, but especially to Sigyn, Loki's second wife. I mean as Angrboda caught up she found out that she was very loved and respected by Sigyn.
Much to her own surprisement and confusion. Now Angrboda really didn't hold a grudge against Loki for finding someone new, as Sigyn really took care of him! But not Sigyn either, she was really caring and kind. Reminding Angrboda that was sorta like her, but instead of caring and kind, she was brave and protective. But why respect someone when you've never spoken before? Well that was surely about to somewhat change for the ghostly spirit today.
🌾🌹🌾🌹🌾🌹🌾🌹🌾🌹🌾🌹🌾🌹🌾
As always in Asgard the goddesses had tasks to fulfil much like the Gods themselves, as they all lived in a shared community where they took turns taking care of what gave them shelter, food and clothes. But today was Sigyn's turn to clean the stables of their wonderful horse friends, a job everyone never got excited to be chosen to do next. Angrboda who had decided to follow Sigyn around today could tell: Sigyn wasn't going to enjoy this. With both having disgust on their faces. Angrboda together with Sigyn enter the stables
"Ugh, despite being a ghost here, I really get chills just thinking about what it might smell like up in here" Angrboda comments to herself, looking around as Sigyn also looks, waving happily at the horses and goes to greet them.
"Well..here we are! Someone had to do it right guys?" Sigyn sighs to herself, as she pets Sleipnir's snout gently before putting her hands on her hips in an enthusiastic manner, putting on a brave face. Sleipnir and the other horses neigh happily in the background and trott their hooves on the ground, at Sigyn's determination. Angrboda cheers as well, floating around in the background, clapping like the horses with their hooves.
"That's the spirit hun! Woo- hey wait a minute..is that little Sleipnir, boy?!" The ghost lady floats over to Sleipnir chuckling happily, glad to see him as well. But still wondering why he wasn't at the family home.
Angrboda not expecting the horse with its many legs to then jump slightly back, away from her because to her surprise, Sleipnir sees her!
"Woah boy! Calm down dear!" Sigyn comforts Sleipnir, confused at his sudden scare. Angrboda backs away.
"oops! Sorry about that, but can you see me?!". Sleipnir finally calms down, standing on all 8 of his legs again as Sigyn gives his face a little bit of rubs and scratches here and there. Once Sigyn felt safe enough that Sleipnir wouldn't jump around again, she goes away to check on the other horses. Sleipnir nodded at Angrboda's question, "Oh my boy..I missed you!" She too comes over to Sleipnir now, petting his snout a little. She has missed him a lot.
"There and there! Okay before cleaning, I must change up a bit. Can't be wearing my usual clothes in here" Sigyn exclaims, before moving away from obvious sight into a corner in the stable where she couldn't really be seen. Angrboda, who really was just looking around, heard this and slightly freaked out!
"Change!? Why Here!!" Angrboda blushes slightly, Sleipnir laughs at Angrboda's reaction. The giantess turned to face the horse "Ha ha! Very funny, just like your mother," she rolls her eyes, "laughing at how people react to things they personally find funny" Angrboda jokes, crossing her arms while looking at the 8 legged horse, smirking at him. He just gives her a clever look and turns away, confused, she too turns but back and is reminded of what was going to happen.
"Gah! Wait what if someone sees you, not to forget it's dirty here in the first place!!" Angrboda expresses knowing very well her efforts wouldn't be heard, it's not like Sleipnir would do anything anyways. Not being able to stop the goddess, she does what she needs to do to get the job done. She tightens her loose braid before she undid the brooch on the straps of her dress. So she could remove her green overdress, which is already slightly dirty at the end of the skirt from all the walking she had been doing today.
Angrboda, who tried to look away, but even if she wanted to turn now she couldn't. Her eyes almost glued to the blonde short lady. She ended up covering her eyes with her hands, which was somewhat effective.
But even after fighting for control and winning, she was curious and really thought she would see something she shouldn't, but instead she was met with Sigyn now in her undergarments, that was just another dress she wore under the main dress, but slightly shorter at her feet, reaching just over her knees and that of greyish white colour. Angrboda slowly takes her fingers apart to just check and really it wasn't that bad.
"Phew.. '' Angrboda sighs, relieved.
Until Sigyn tucks the undergarments into the pants she wore underneath everything.
"Oh my, why is she so..cute?!" Angrboda screeches into her hands, her face very flushed, now Sigyn did so her form was more easy to actually make out.
Angrboda could see Sigyn's shape and cute curves slightly better now and she absolutely adored this woman. Once Sigyn is done she proudly folds her dress and puts it somewhere safe. Sleipnir while Sigyn starts cleaning, knowing she's distracted bursts out laughing at Angrboda. She slowly sits down on the ground, still floating over the ground curling into a ball, making some weird ghost screeching sound. "I return, see you again after SO long and you repay by laughing at me" Angrboda says, staying in this pose for most of the time until Sigyn was almost done. Then after some time a sudden knock was heard at the entrance of the stable, making both Angrboda and Sigyn look up.
"Guess who~" a familiar voice spoke, someone's narrow and long hand now tapping, waiting for a response. "Couldn't possibly be my partner lurking around now, could it?" Sigyn smirks looking at the hand, only for Loki to then pop his head out. "AH! And there you are now!" Angrboda almost fell on her back, shouldn't she have known by now Loki tends to do that. He waves happily to his wife and son before stepping in, Sleipnir neighs happily to see his mom again!
"I decided to pay you two a visit, especially you darling, since you know..got the stinky job this time! What a shame really" Loki laughs, handing Sleipnir a fresh apple which he noms on happily. Sigyn just shook her head trying not to smile at this dork.
"Oh no you aren't going to stand here and tease her, help her out why don't you!'' Angrboda chuckles, remembering she used to do the exact same thing but to him instead. She gets up and floats over to a broom that was chilling against a wall, knocking it over, hitting Loki. "Oops~" Angrboda teases, almost forgetting Loki can't actually hear her. "Ow! Rude very much..wind?" Loki grabs the broom that had hit and fallen on him, Sigyn giggles to herself. "I think the quote on quote, wind, wants you to help your poor wife here" Sigyn now teases back. "Tell him!" Angrboda shouts proudly, now laughing loudly to herself.
This was very much enjoyable! Loki keeping his wide grin on like when he first popped into the stable, grabs Sigyn broom and takes it away from her. "Ah-! Excuse you, this isn't helping!" Sigyn tries to grab it back but to no avail.
"You're done here anyways!..shorty" Loki mumbles that last sentence, Angrboda covers her mouth, this was intense "did he just say that?" She looks at Sleipnir, who wasn't even listening, still enjoying that apple. With wide eyes the horse looks around and shakes his head, wagging his tail.
"Ohoho..don't you think I didn't hear you, poor Hodr might be blind but I'm not deaf" Sigyn shows a slight attitude and gives Loki an evil grin, Loki gasps, not even threatened by this "I'm so proud of you! got that from me~". Angrboda grins and shakes her head, she has had enough of this now, it's time to pull a little trick on her own. Floating over to Sigyn's side, she thinks a bit before managing to push Sigyn gently with the wind but hard enough for it to actually be an actual push, Loki who was perfectly bent over, facing her face imminently receives a kiss much to his and Sigyns own surprises. Sigyn pulls away, eyes wide, both blushing. "T-That was the wind!"
"This is a one time thing.. Right?" Loki asks.

Thoughts on Loki, Gender, Sex, and Identity
So...I've seen a few posts on transphobia embedded in Loki and I wanted to examine my own thoughts on this a bit. I'm not going to dig too deeply, just hit on a few of my thoughts on the matter regarding my own positionality as a demisexual, demiromantic, bisexual, nonbinary, gender funky human.
To begin, my own relationship to sex and gender is complicated, based on my own experiences. I'm fine with people not having this same interpretation because of differences in experience and I'm not going to sit around and listen to anyone bombarding me with statements about how wrong they think I am. Go write a post with relevance to your own experience and please don't shit on mine. The purpose of this is to share my own thoughts on this matter, not to get into an argument. I have enough real-world stress regarding these things and don't need them on Tumblr as well.
I've seen the argument that Loki is gender fluid and it is wrong to say he is sex fluid or that sex fluidity is a way to undercut or deny the validity of gender fluidity. I don't see it this way. To begin, we don't actually see Loki display gender fluidity, even though shape-shifting is clearly within his skill set. MCU Loki shifts into Sif once in The Dark World, but other than that, there is little evidence outside of his word at this. I know those creating this story did refer to him as gender fluid, but I question whether those who stand outside that fluidity might not be as well-versed in how gender fluidity comes in a myriad of experiences. I am fine with the idea that perhaps Loki still uses traditionally male pronouns while in other shapes. I am not considering comic interpretations of Loki in this, as there are so many different storylines that I think they would be hard to sum up into this character. And it is fine if you don't see this the same way.
In myth, when Loki transforms into a maiden during the marriage of "Freya" (Thor in disguise) to Thrym, the book I reference (Neil Gaiman's retellings of the myths) does, at one point, refer to Loki as "he." When the mythological Loki transforms into the mare to lure the horse Svadilfari away from the builder of their wall, the references to the mare indicate "she" (and it is worth noting that in this retelling, the mare is never referred to as Loki by name), but when Loki returns he is referred to using male pronouns yet still as Sleipnir's mother.
In the television show, Loki's file lists his sex as fluid. As gender and sex are entirely separate, I took this into consideration as a part of what defines a Loki- they may change physical sex. I did not see an entry for gender on the file. I may have missed it. But to me, the lack of listing gender and the inclusion instead of sex leads me to believe that the TVA doesn't much care for the gender of a variant, but rather the body in which they are most likely to inhabit. In this case, it would seem that knowing if a Loki is more likely to appear as a physical type without regard to pronouns or gender might be considered more important data than gender identity and pronouns. I examine this as someone who has to handle grant data that requires a sex marker in the demographics- not a gender identity, but an assigned-at-birth or otherwise legally documented sex.
I don't see these two things as mutually exclusive or an erasure of one another. I would see it as a way for the TVA to try to classify a variant without regards to any sort of identity. After all, if Lokis are destined for pruning, who cares how they see themselves? It's not like they are going to have an extended conversation with them- process them, judge them, prune them.
In the context of the Lokis we meet, and the note that they haven't met a female Loki, I do wonder why they haven't met one yet. Is it because they don't catch every Loki that comes through? Is it because they themselves have only ever experienced being Loki as men and and haven't assumed otherwise? I don't know. But I don't see it as impossible to explain, either. How many Loki variants have come through? And how many haven't survived? We don't see every variant in the Void that we see in Mobius' briefing holograms. Who didn't make it, and who is missing? Yes, the comment that she "sounds terrifying" could be read as incredibly sexist, but at the same time...Lokis grew up with stories of the Valkyrie, powerful warrior women who they likely looked at with awe, wondering why these towers of strength were no longer with them. The Valkyrie predate them and are mythic figures- we see how Thor reacts to meeting one of these warriors in Ragnarok. Given that this line comes from Loki the Elder, someone who leans into the power of sorcery and the capabilities of magic, wouldn't it make sense that the combination of these skills would seem terrifying? A warrior of the legendary capabilities of the Valkyrie combined with the might of a Loki sorcery? I mean, I'd probably think the same thing, and I think this is possibly one reason why the variant Loki we come to know would agree with him- she has been jumping through time, surviving apocalypses that likely terrify him, enchanting anyone she needs to use, and she can run circles around him. Given the tonal shift in the delivery of the line "and she needs me," I interpret this as the blustering Loki does when he wants to feel more important than he really is- he's trying to justify why he needs to find her to someone else (and possibly to himself) instead of just saying it's because he cares deeply about her and wants to know what the hell that means. Sylvie can clearly take care of herself and doesn't really need rescue. He wants to feel important enough to go back and to convince the others he is as well. That she could render him irrelevant is something that would be terrifying to someone who craves attention and affirmation.
Mobius says that the most common iterations of Lokis look like the one standing before him, yet Loki does encounter a variant file from California in the early 20th century that refers to Sylvie. So the TVA knows that there is a rare chance that a sex fluid Loki could exist (and they have, presumably, pruned them). While I wish this had been explored further, I don't necessarily see it as a transphobic intent. Did it resonate that way with some people? Yes. And that's fine. Their feelings on the matter are valid.
Another element of my interpretation of this comes from my own experiences of gender expression. Most of the time during which I have been out as nonbinary, people have read my gender as a woman. I like my long dresses and I have an extensive collection of vintage women's clothing. I also have a decent collection of corsets and well-tailored suits that fit my body type. I don't bind my chest. My hair varies from very short to as long as it will grow (not far past my shoulders). I occasionally wear eyeshadow, regardless of what gender I am on any given day. I very rarely read masculine and when I feel neutral, I still don't bother to alter my body shape, only sometimes choosing a bra or bra tank top that decentuates my curves (which, granted, aren't dramatic). So the concept of a gender fluid individual choosing gendered pronouns and reading as male during the (relatively short) time in his lifespan during which the audience knows him doesn't seem odd to me, as it is how I've existed (and I, too, used gendered pronouns for a few years on my nonbinary journey- they were a default while I searched for something that suited me better). But I have known nonbinary people who have exclusively used gendered pronouns and it does not invalidate their gender identity, nor does gendered expressions of that identity. The concept that we would only see a male presenting Loki doesn't seem very odd because I have lived a stretch of my life during which I, too, presented a very femme gender expression and used traditionally female pronouns. But that did not make me less nonbinary.
And, of course, this is assuming that gender fluidity is part of his identity, which we are never told in the text of the story. I reject that everything a creator says must be added to the text of a piece of media simply because the piece also has to stand on its own and be interpreted on that level as well. We do know that Loki shifts sex, which makes sense for someone who shifts bodies, as sex is tied more to bodies than gender is.
The point in this is that we can't assume the gender of a fictional character, just as we can't assume from appearance the gender of a living human. I may read as a woman, but this is not my gender identity and no one should be assuming that my clothes are meant to project gender. Reducing gender to an outward and bodily expression of sex is not something with which I am comfortable, and it seems that some people are conflating the two in their interpretation. Again, your experiences may differ from mine and it's fine to see this in another way.
But here's another very important thing this show can demonstrate. Allow an anecdote. My children watched this show with me. My son is nearly 7, my daughter a few months from being 10. She is very femme- loves makeup, frilly dresses, dolls, princesses, My Little Pony, the whole shebang of activities stereotypically associated with the childhood of girls. At this point in her life, she very much asserts that she is a girl. The same goes for my son- he very much asserts himself as a boy. When we were watching together, we talked about Loki being gender fluid, just like their Mum. We talked about Loki being bisexual, just like their Mum. They understood that just because Loki looks one way, it doesn't mean he is that way...again, just like their Mum. There is power in the idea that some of us are in this same position- we are assumed to be cisgender based on our appearances, but our identities are more complex than that. I thought this was a good window for my children to see through and one I could turn into a teachable moment about all the different sorts of people there are in this world. This is the blessing of imperfect media- we can find ways to learn from it and to share opportunities in it for open interpretation with those around us. And the lesson of not jumping to conclusions about gender or sex based on appearance is a deeply important one for young children to understand.
Is this an area in which I have a problem with the show? No. Does this mean the show couldn't have done more or better? Also no. We do need a variety of types of representation. But seeing the possibilities of this being someone a little more like me (though alas, I can't shift shape)? That was nice.
Hopefully we can see more of this in the future, but if we don't, we can create transformative works to fill in the gaps. It's what fan communities have always done and will continue to do. When I fell into fandom years ago with Harry Potter, long before the movies were all out, so many works were there to add queerness, racial diversity, language diversity, disability representation, all of it, into the series. It didn't stop us from still enjoying what it meant to us in those times and places and I don't think we have to outright reject this show for the imperfections we see in it. It can still thrill us and speak to something in us we've been lacking.
And in my case, that is the affirmation of wearing traditionally gender coded clothes while still asserting my pronouns are ze/zir/zirs and my gender is nonbinary, though also gender fluid, gender optional, or gender funky and that my oft-assumed-to-be-hetero relationship makes me no less bi or any other piece of my complex relationship to sexual orientation (and sharing that affirmation with my kids).

Day 8
“Why did you allow them to come with us? One of them tried to sell us to their master. I don’t think it’s a good idea those two knights follow us.” Sam grits his teeth, not liking the way Castiel always stays close to your side.
Dean holds you to his chest, not reacting to Sam’s harsh words. Your Viking, the man who would die for you, urges Sleipnir on to ride deeper into the dark forest to reach the hidden cave.
“Castiel helped to free me, just like the young knight at Ivar’s (Bobby Singer) side, bróðir (brother). I know you see betrayal behind every face, but for now, we have to trust those outsiders.”
“Cas always protected me.” Sleepily glancing up at Dean you play with his braids. “I promise he’ll never betray us.”
“I promise, no I swore to my queen to protect her daughter. My queen only had one thought close to death, to fulfill the promise she gave to your brother. I never participated in a battle against your folk.”
Castiel’s words are the ones of a farsighted knight, but his jaw ticks as Sam does not seem to like the knight dared to address his words toward the stubborn Viking.
“Only as someone promised a dying woman something doesn’t mean I have to trust him.” Now Castiel’s eyes narrow and he needs to take deep breaths.
“I know that Vikings are proud people, always sticking to traditions and fulfilling a promise they made. Your brother is the best example.” Castiel’s voice goes lower, hiding a threat behind his words.
“What gives you the right to accuse I would break my word? I swore on my dead wife’s grave I’ll protect the princess and make sure the bond my queen wove all those years ago will be fulfilled.”
“Enough of this, Frode (Sam)! Castiel is not wrong. The queen wanted to keep her promise, the knight to my left did the same. Do not judge people the way Y/N’s father does. He told me I am not worth his daughters’ hand, even though I am a king. He judged me as I am a Viking.”
“Bróðir (brother).” Sam’s voice is dangerous low as he stops his horse. “Do you think his words are worth just as much as yours?”
What happened to their parents formed Sam deeply and aroused a hatred deep inside of him that only his elder brother can understand.
“It is Sammy. I know you cannot forgive the people taking our parents away. I suffered too, bróðir (brother), but we cannot judge every outsider. Lord Castiel was true to his words, just like the young man to your right. He came here, risking his life to defend the princess.”
“That is enough banter for tonight. The princess must be tired, sons. We should try to reach the cave and make sure she can rest. I will not allow anyone to throw more insults at Lord Castiel.” Ivar’s (Bobby Singer) words let Sam fall silent.
Your eyes meet Dean’s as he falls silent. You can see the worry in those mysterious green eyes, and you lean your head against his shoulder, closing your eyes for a moment.
“I am sorry what happened to your family. My mom always told me that her folk, her family were friendly people traveling the seas to find their fate. I envied her for remembering this life.” Your words let Sam’s eyes soften as he watches his brother press you closer to his body.
“Your mother, do you know where she came from?” Surprised Sam directed his words toward you, you need a moment to answer his question.
His hazel eyes search your face as you look at Dean’s brother for longer than a few moments.
His chestnut locks hang loosely over his shoulders. Two thick braids tame most of it, but you can see it must be soft. Sam’s lips curve into an amused smirk as he can see you eyed him for a moment.
“She never talked about her home. I think…” Voice crack you snuggle close to Dean’s chest again.
“In the end, my mom regretted she ever left her homeland. I know she must’ve missed her folk, the Vikings.”
“How’d you know?” Dean’s deep voice lulls you into safety as you gather your strength to talk about your mother.
“She always brought me to the coast and she stared down the cliff for hours, sometimes long enough to make her hands stiff due to the cold wind. My mother, she loved my father but over the years, he changed.” Dean’s hand presses against the small of your back, just holding you close to his body.
“If you don’t want to talk about your mother, you don’t have to, my love.” Sam’s breath hitches in his throat listening to Dean speak to you softly. He’s used to his brother being gruff, loud and not coy around women.
“Sometimes she sang songs in her mother tongue. Songs about the sea, the strong man, and women. I liked listening to the words I did not understand. She told me about the shield-maiden too.” Ruby nods, falling back with her horse to listen to your words.
“They are strong women, warriors. Deadly and beautiful. Free and wild.” Sam’s words let Ruby’s cheeks heat up as his gaze meets hers.
“My mom told me her sister wanted to become one. She was fourteen when my mom left her homeland. Mother always wondered if Frigga became one of those strong women she admired so much.”
Sleepily rubbing your eyes, you yearn and Dean chuckles as you look adorable to him.
Tumblr media
“We are there, àst (love). Let us rest here and we will ride toward the coast in a few hours before the sun rises.” Dean whispers as he carries you into the cave. “Ivar and I will guard the entrance. Sleep a bit.”
Sam already placed large furs onto the ground to make sure you and the others can sleep. After two days of being on the run, you are more than grateful for a rest.
“Ruby and I will have a look at the surroundings. We will make sure no one gets close to the cave.” Covered in a thick fur the shield-maiden gives you a curt nod before she calls follows Frode (Sam) out of the cave.
“She’s beautiful and strong, just like my mom described the shield-maiden.”
“You are more than beautiful, and stronger than you know. I saw the fire in your eyes at the age of twelve when you threw the stone at the boy calling me a rotten bastard.” Dean gently cups your face before he brushes his lips over yours.
Smiling you slide your fingers through Dean’s thick locks. His dark blonde hair needs washing, you can see the dirt and dust from the cell in his strands but you don’t care. It feels rough under your fingertips and you smile as Dean seems to enjoy your attention.
“You remember.” Humming Dean presses his lips to yours and Castiel looks away, flustered as you wrap your arms around the Viking’s neck, parting your lips for him.
“I remember everything, my love. Now rest and tomorrow, we will reach our ship and I will make you mine, my Freya…”
“That’s a goddess. I remember the name from a story I read. I wanted to finish the book, but father, he forbids me to enter the library.”
Dean’s hand slides through your hair. It is a mess of twisted curls and a loosening braid but to the Viking, you are the most beautiful woman in the world.
“Freya is known for her fondness of love, fertility, and beauty.” Giggling you look at Dean as the word fertility leaves his lips. “She’s known for seeking pleasure and thrills, but Freya is so much more.”
“Pleasure…” Gasping you feel Dean’s hands gently stroke your back. You can feel his breath against your neck as his lips press a soft kiss to your skin. “Dean…”
“I…I am sorry, my princess. The wild man lost control for a moment, but you are a goddess, innocent and pure to me. I’ll not touch you before we formed our bond. Now sleep.”
“She was able to use magic too, I remember now…” Whispering the words you press a soft kiss to Dean’s nose.
“She’s an enchantress…just like you…”
Tumblr media
Sleep will not come. The fire is too warm, the knights snore too loud. Your racing mind doesn’ help either.
Your chest warms every time Dean looks at you but you fear Sam and the other Vikings will never accept a half-blood among them.
Turning around you look at Garth. He seems to sleep like a baby and you smile softly as he turns in his sleep.
You grew up with the slender young man in front of you. He always stayed by your side, just like now and you just hope – you will not let Castiel and Garth down with your decision to follow this wild king owning your heart.
As your eyes do not grow heavy you silently get up to stretch your sore body. Dean said something about taking care of the horse twenty minutes ago, so you walk out of the cave to see him in the distance.
He is talking to his horse, whispering something in Sleipnir’s ear. You want to stay and watch Dean gently stroking his horses back, but your bladder has other plans.
Silently sneaking behind a tree next to the cave you hear odd noises coming from behind the cave, so you get your hidden dagger out, whistling at Dean and he is by your side a moment later.
Dean tilts his head, listens closely to hear a strangled noise. “Wait…”
“No. Let me come with you. Maybe Sam or Ruby got hurt. I want to stay by your side, Ulfr (Dean), please.” Taking your hand in his Dean follows the noises, not wanting to let you out of sight.
The noises grow louder, and you feel your mouth run dry as you see Ruby on top of Sam. He lies on her fur, holding her hips in a tight grip as she seems to roll her hips to bring him pleasure.
Her naked body seems to glow in the dim light before sunrise and you can’t take your eyes of this goddess of a woman, taking pleasure from the wild man underneath her.
“I…” Turning around, cheeks heating up you cover your mouth. “Oh—goodness!”
Without a word Dean leads you back toward the cave, guiding you inside as Castiel and Garth walk outside.
“I am sorry…” Giggling you hide your face in Dean’s chest. “I didn’t know they would do such a thing out here.”
“What she did…uh…is it pleasurable for the man?” Glancing up at Dean you try to not act like a fool. “I mean…do you…do you like it?”
“My love…” Pressing his lips to your temple Dean cannot hide the smirk. “I will show you all the pleasure in the world if you want me to. For tonight, let’s sleep a bit.”
“You didn’t answer my question…” Dean huffs at your boldness. He can see the uncertainty in your eyes, so he nods silently, and you bite your lower lip. “Will you show me this too?”
“All you want, my princess.” Humming you press your face into his chest to not let him see you are beyond nervous. “I’ll be gentle…”
“Ruby seemed to enjoy it too…” Now it’s Dean’s turn to be flustered as you look up at him with innocent eyes. “Mom, she told me a few things about lying with a man. I saw pictures in a book too.”
“My love, I swear you make it hard to keep my wild side under control. I will not be able to deny you anything. You are my queen and I am your loyal servant, my Freya…”
