Rambling thoughts of various Yuri manga I’ve read

1. Kase-San and Yamada (Morning Glories sequel series) by Hiromi Takashima

notice how Kase’s name is first, which is representative of her being the main one to cause problems in their relationship

If you asked me what my favorite yuri manga was like 2-3 years ago, I’d say Morning Glories and Kase San everytime. Every avid yuri fan has either read or watched Morning Glories because, at the time in 2010, it was groundbreaking, and I stand by the fact that the original series still holds up to this day. It was cute, sweet, wholesome and only had a few obligatory “we love each other but we’re giRLs😳😳😳” moments. Most of all it wasn’t a pseudo-incest-straight-male-porn-pandering-garbage-fest—also known as “Citrus”. Was it cliche at times? Yes, but they all are lol. Did they add to the dumb ass “blonde femme and dark hair masc” trope? Also yes. But it was adorable and it was my first ever yuri so it holds a special place in my heart.

And it SEEMED like it was only going to get better in Kase San and Yamada, the sequel. The girls would be heading to college and the story could theoretically focus on more mature topics while they navigate their new relationship. Keyword: theoretically. Unfortunately, instead of exploring interesting relationship dynamics and storylines, the plot of each story arc boils down to: Kase is insecure because a man breathed next to Yamada or Kase is being completely insensitive to Yamada’s feelings…again…—> ✨miscommunication drama ✨—>big over dramatic apology scene—>boring makeup sex or other romantic gesture.

Literally that’s how every single plotline goes. Kase is so goddamn dumb and insensitive to Yamada’s feelings and Yamada’s a complete doormat who can only stay mad for 0.2 seconds before getting pussy whipped like a spineless ass bitch. And for all that Yamada sacrifices for Kase; her hometown, her dreams, her apartment, what does she get in return from Kase? Oh that’s right; bare minimum romantic gestures and a neglectful partner who can’t even call her “girlfriend” in front of others:

Like I thought we were over this shit. It’s been THREE years of them together, a whole anime production, and god knows how many irl years and we’re going back to “we love each other but we’re giRLs😳😳😳” WHY???

And then Kase later goes onto bet her entire three year relationship over the ugly bitch in the next panel, so now I’m questioning whether or not Kase even loves Yamada with the amount of bullshit she’s put her through. Which COULD be an interesting plot point, but Kase never gets any consequences for her actions and the creator genuinely thinks this is romantic and full of tension so I’m 10000% positive that this arc, just like all the others, will end with some makeup sex and we’ll be right back to step 1. Sigh.

2. Tamen De Gushi by Tan Jiu

Tamen De Gushi’s problems are interesting but it’s NOT because of the Chinese government💀

So today’s dark haired masc and blonde femme of the day are Sun Jing and Qiu Tong, respectively. Their personalities aren’t anything to write home about, if you read ANY high school yuri romance, then you know exactly what happens in this story beat for beat. But, BUT, however derivative it is, I find their dynamic very endearing and down to earth. Idk maybe it’s just the translation, but other yuri stories often have this very inauthentic “anime” vibe to it. Which is to say the characters act very cutesy, overly dramatic, and have this stilted, caricature-esque acting of how the creator thinks teenage girls are supposed act.

However, I’m happy to report that Tamen De Gushi is a breath of fresh air in this regard. The characters and interactions they have are grounded and feel organic, which makes them feel like real people, not aliens pretending to be human. This really elevates the humor in turn, oh did I mention that Tamen De Gushi is super funny? Because Tamen De Gushi is super funny, here’s one of my favorite panels and it’s all because of Sun Jing’s goofy ahh expression:

If you’re wondering why I haven’t spoke much about the actual romantic relationship between the girls, that’s because there isn’t one💀 Which, okay, that’s not a fair assessment, they have a ton of romantic tension and they flirt a lot. It’s certainly building to a great romantic relationship, but it can’t quite get there due to legal/political reasons sadly. 😔

Edit: I received new information in regards to what happened to Tamen De Gushi. While I reached my limit for posting pictures, I want to point out that the Chinese government had nothing to do with Tamen De Gushi getting censored, rather it was a dispute between the author and the publishing company. The prior information I received was false and I prob should’ve looked it up more so sorrrry. The fact still remains though that after their big lesbian kiss towards the middle of the story and maybe a few other moments, that’s just kind of it. You’re stuck waiting for something to develop, but nothing really happens. The comic very quickly becomes a collection of slice of life segments and cute pictures that imply a relationship between the girls, but not really ;) ;).  Now things are just kind of left in purgatory for the foreseeable future and, well, that’s Tamen De Gushi y’all.

Compared to Kase San and Yamada, the characters were much better, which is not saying much, but without an actual romantic storyline, there’s just not a lot for me to comment on to be honest. It’s really pretty though, look at this art :

3. Beauty and the Beast Girl by Neji

my personal favorite and the BEST yuri I ever read

So next on the list is Beauty and the Beast Girl (I’m going to abbreviate to BatBG from here on) , which I already spoiled my feelings on the matter so this will basically be me gushing about this story for several paragraphs straight, enjoy.

Contrary to what the title suggests, it really has nothing to do with Beauty and the Beast’s story except in name. The main girls are Lily Blind, who is actually fucking blind 💀 and Heath the monster girl. Already I’m happy because instead of blonde femme and dark hair butch, it’s blonde femme and of-course-you-have-purple-hair-and-pronouns masc. Lol, all jokes aside, Lily, unlike her blonde femme counterparts is quite assertive and voices her opinions all the time. In fact, she’s the one who pushes Heath to be more open and communicate with her rather than the other way around. This is, in part, due to the story BatBG is trying to tell. I say BatBG is in name only to Beauty and the Beast because Lily isn’t trying to find the “beauty” within Heath or learning to love a beast or whatever, she’s fine just the way she is and her love for Heath is unconditional. Plus the only thing beastly about Heath is her appearance…which I’ll harp on later, but her behavior is in no way different from a regular human except in very rare, specific moments.

At its heart, BatBG is a story about forgiveness (the creator literally says as much) , but it’s also about the cycle of violence that results from being outcasted and deprived of love. BatBG is set in a world of humans and monsters, where the monsters are outcasted and either have to stay away from human society like Heath or assimilate themselves by hiding away their monster like traits, which is a really queer narrative on top of an already queer story. I don’t want to go into too much spoilers, but sometime before the beginning of the story, Heath in-directly hurts Lily before they ever meet. However, it’s not about Lily needing to forgive Heath, or trying to get over the pain she inflicted upon her, rather its Heath learning to forgive herself and in effect, learning to love herself as much as Lily loves her.

Another big aspect of BatBG is disabilities, Lily Blind is in fact Blind lol and while there are times she struggles with her blindness, she never views her disability as something she needs to be ashamed of and never, ever, blames Heath for it or holds it against her unlike what many, many, many, many other stories end up doing. Her blindness isn’t treated like a super power either, it’s a legitimate disability. She just accepts that it’s a part of her and goes onto say that if not for her blindness, she would’ve never met the love of her life, which I found to be an incredibly profound thing to say.

Now that I’ve gotten this far, I suppose I can add a bit of a disclaimer. So BatBG is waaaaay more explicit about the physical affection between the girls than in any of the previous stories I talked about. Heath and Lily are constantly kissing on, hugging, and almost always flirting with each other, and make no mistake, these girls do be fucking. The sex scenes are never perverted or gross, but genuinely super sweet and romantic, which makes it way hotter imo (huh imagine that🤔). And aside from being hot, it also serves a purpose! Lily’s pretty damn horny underneath all her nice girl antics and while it’s not a major part of her character, it does give a slight edge to her personality and, most importantly, balances out the dynamic between Heath and Lily. It would’ve been very easy to fall into that boring trope where Heath is aggressively horny and Lily is the submissive blind girl, but by making Lily be the one to initiate the sexual encounters, it not only compliments Heath’s more reserved nature, but breaks the stereotype that people with disabilities are pure precious being who couldn’t possibly have sex, which is ableist af btw. Many people think the existence of any sex scenes at all is superfluous, but in BatBG, it truly elevates the story, the characters, and the romance in ways that wouldn’t be nearly as satisfying without it.

Now, with as much praise I gave BatBG, there is one criticism I have, but it’s a quibble really, and it can be explained in a single image:

There is a dissonance between the story and the art, the story says: “Heath is a big, ugly scary monster”

And like yes, it can be argued that Heath is simply regurgitating the things bigoted people have said to her, but at no point in the story is this ever challenged or brought up in any meaningful way. Lily is blind so she doesn’t know what the hell she looks like and the other characters aren’t any help either. It’s not a big deal or anything, it just would’ve elevated the story if Heath was actually kinda ugly/more monstrous and not incredibly beautiful because right now it’s giving skinny girl who calls herself fat all the time, and it’s like, babe, who tf are you fooling? 😭

Other than that, BatBG is incredibly profound despite its premise being so deceptively simple and I love it to pieces so …yeah! READ IT.

4. Superwomen in Love! Honey Trap and Rapid Rabbit by sometime

So imma just abbreviate to SiL btw

Alright, let’s get started. The premise is that a villainess falls for the super hero girl and then that plotline is dropped in about 16 pages. I’m not even joking, the villainess falls for the hero, loses her job as a villain and then joins the hero all in one chapter. The REAL plot is actually about a council of evil alien-humans who want to destroy humanity because of generic super villain reason #434: the leader of the aliens is sad and misunderstood :( I’m not even going to lie, I had 0 interest in “X” (the generic ass name of the main villain) and her band of useless lesbians. They did literally nothing in the story except be a nuisance and contribute to X’s incel breakdown at the end. Their inclusion actively made SiL worse because the story has this weird tonal problem where in one breath the villains are portrayed as complete jokes and then you turn the page and now they’re shooting children like girl what💀 And these useless lesbians hog sooooo much of SiL that desperately needed to be given to Honey trap and Hayate to develop their relationship.

When the story DOES actually focus on Honey Trap and Hayate, it’s pretty good, even cute at times, there just wasn’t enough time given to them to flesh their relationship out. As it stands, Honey Trap and Hayate don’t have much of a dynamic, or personality for that matter. Honey Trap’s main gimmick is that she’s extremely horny for Hayate and delulu:

Aside from that, she’s a great value version of Heath, but even a watered down character is better than, like, nothing. All I really know about Hayate is that she’s nice, heroic, likes wearing tacky clothes and ….that’s it. She loves Honey Trap because…………they fought together a few times so why not🤷‍♀️ I’d say at least that’s better than Tamen De Gushi, but actually it’s not because these grown ass women don’t even kiss , all we get is a love confession and their gremlin love child and that’s supposed to be satisfying I guess.

And the worst part is that SiL has the audacity to pretend the romance was something that it clearly wasn’t:

Girl…yall were “””enemies””” for 10 panels.

Now, it’s stated they have been rivals for a while, but I guess Honey Trap forgot all of that because the moment she sees Hayate’s face, my good sis is pussy whipped for life. And that’s in spite of apparently being the evilest one out of the evil group because Honey Trap has no grudge or baggage toward Hayate. She immediately turns good with no issues and Hayate is only distrustful of Honey Trap for 1 or 2 speech bubbles and then she’s not. Anything else that happened was off screen, which means it didn’t happen. Ironically, the very next entry on this list will do a MUCH better job at an ex-villain love story, but for SiL, there’s just not much going on.

Another reading of this story is to call it a “parody” but…no, it isn’t. SiL isn’t a comedy, yes there are comedic moments that poke fun of the genre, but the rest of the story genuinely wants you to take it seriously. Except it can’t. X and her league of dimwits are boring as piss and they oscillate between Saturday morning cartoon villains and child murderers seemingly on a whim. So I can neither be endeared to them nor take them as a serious threat. Honey Trap and Hayate are there, but I lament on all the potential lost from what could’ve been an amazing relationship.

5. Yamujiburo/Kianamaiart’s Hanamusa webcomic

This one is kind of cheating, but I also don’t care let me talk about hot MILFs💀

So the final entry on this list is a webcomic series by one of my fave artist: kianamaiart! And it’s right here on tumblr so check it out!

I stumbled upon this webcomic a few weeks ago, fell in love and now I want to talk about it. This yuri pair thankfully has no blonde femme in sight and instead features two popular Pokémon characters: Jessie from Team Rocket and Delia Ketchum, Ash Ketchum’s mom. What I love about this ship and the world Kiana creates around them is that it’s a very unconventional pairing. There’s just not many romances where a single mom falls in love with an ex gang member and the best part is, Delia being a mom is a big part of her character and she doesn’t ignore Ash in favor of her new relationship with Jessie. She has time for both and doesn’t prioritize one over the other, which many ppl fail to do even irl so good on you Delia!

Now, as for the romance it self, Jessie and Delia are a unique pair. Jessie’s overconfident, brash, drama queen personality doesn’t automatically put her in the “dominant” role and Delia’s sweet, motherly personality doesn’t automatically put her in the “submissive” role. Their dynamic in the webcomic actually plays out in the reverse, Jessie is the one who gets easily flustered and Delia’s…intense, to say the least:

This subversion of these tropes creates a fun dynamic for the couple and it’s super adorable to see how their energies bounce off each other in each new situation Kiana puts them in. I also love how both Jessie and Delia inspire each other to live out their dreams and they become better versions of themselves by being together.

And one last thing, I don’t have any smart commentary to go along with this, I just really like this drawing of Jessie:

Final Thoughts

Soooo yeah, that’s the end of my dissertation on yuri comics. I know I ended up dragging a lot of popular yuri, but it wasn’t my intention to make you guys hate any of things I talked about. These were just my thoughts as an avid yuri fan, so let me know your thoughts as well, especially if you read any of the yuri I talked about. And even though I’m super picky about the type of yuri I read, I’d still love to hear any recommendations. Who knows, it might dethrone the undefeated champ that is Beauty and the Beast Girl.

but it isnt! he gets used! toby's used for evil through no fault of his own. but he becomes a symbol of things that are "wrong" about archie. toby didn't resent anyone or be upset with how people treat him. toby doesnt have his own needs. he can do whatever people need him to do. toby was his symbol of hope but becomes a symbol of how everything with him goes wrong. he becomes an unachievable goal that archie is trying to be to make up for the existence of toby!!

and so the only way for either of them to be "truly human" is when archie learns that he doesn't have to be perfect. he never had to be. even if he's made mistakes, he still deserves to LIVE!! he doesn't have to hide his pain and discomfort for anyone!! and its okay for toby to be toby!

c!saur's relationships would definitely be a lot better than c!wils, but it would give or take be the same. she has more balls than he does to own up to her mistakes, even though she's still not very good at it. in my au, it's like a lot of others where Phil raised the neopolitan trio [tommy and tech aren't related, but through some weird magic whatever they look like Kristen and Phil's children]. being their first, he's always considered her his little angel of life [two wrongs make a right, I suppose], being the light of his life.

Techno is the one he's closest with [became closer friends after he grew up] [very strained relationship with tommy], but Saur is his favorite child, being his first and reminding him of her mother.

After everything when she goes on her apology arc and tries to reconnect with her family, he accepts her back in with open arms. he's, of course, still wary and doesn't let his guard down completely- still afraid of being put in a bad spot because of her again- but she's his child and he would still love her unconditionally despite their rocky relationship.

cause it would be a lot of ups, and way more downs, and I'd say he almost got sick of trying to make it better so he retreated, not talking to her or interacting after she got revived. he would let ghostissa hang around and treated her kindly, but wouldn't be able to look her in the eye. when she finally reached out to him, he warily let her back in, still wanting to make it better.

ghost: Who or what haunts your OC? What happened? How do they live with their ghosts?

Oh Man. There's like 10000 different things haunting Rook. I guess the 3 Big ones would be:

1.) Rook witnessing the death of their older sister because of a stupid mistake they made as a kid. Rook pissed off/taunted the wrong people and their sister was murdered while trying to physically protect Rook during the altercation. 2.) As an older teen/very young adult they made another mistake, Rook has the habit of taunting and causes problems for people they should Not have pissed off. This time their stupid mistakes resulted in other children being murdered and not being able to protect them. 3.) Rook joined a cyber-terrorist group during the literal apocalypse, trying to cause as much harm as possible to the social elite who continued to have comfortable lifestyles while everyone else was dying. Rook's partner (Ash) at the time had a much younger sister (Darcy) and the two sorta kinda raised her together But things started getting way worse on the ground and Ash was willing to do anything to protect his sister- even turning in Rook in order to secure a ticket to get Darcy off earth. After Darcy is taken away- after kicking and screaming, Ash is shot and killed while Rook is arrested and becomes a test subject for construct/robot experimentation.

That last one hits the hardest for Rook, they can't be upset for being thrown under the bus. It was a pretty damn good reason to betray someone in Rooks eyes, and it's literally what their own sister did to ensure their safety. But the part that gets them the most is knowing that Rook never saw Darcy- despite ending up on the same space station (for very different reasons) as her. Rook was never able to be there for Darcy after being ripped way from her brother. Darcy literally died from illness as an adult but Rook literally has/had no idea.

FJFKJF when i wrote that post i was definitely reading motherland: fort salem fanfiction 😅 i’ve been staying up too late reading fanfiction like some sort of 20 year old who can still do that without risking their health.

BUT i’ve been reading a lot of lesbian romance this year and i’m absolutely down to provide some recs! important disclaimer, however, i only read one (1) subgenre that’s best described as “ice queen lesbian milf office romance” ft an age gap between 21+ adults. understandably this is not everyone’s jam, but i am simply a 20something lesbian who thinks older women are really hot. what can i say

here are five recs in order of preference:

1. “truth and measure” by roslyn sinclair - the original adapted novel version of the same-titled legendary mirandy/devil wears prada fic. jules moretti is the long-suffering assistant of vivian carlisle, the CEO of a prestigious fashion magazine. then vivian gets pregnant mid divorce, with only jules by her side. and it only gets gayer from there.

listen. i genuinely could not stop reading truth and measure by roslyn sinclair. for three days, i woke up, vaguely did my adult tasks, and read for several hours in a state of what i can only call hysteria. the chemistry is insane. vivian is a hot mean loser with sad eyes and jules is insane for every choice she makes. btw i imagined the nanny!era lauren lane as vivian and current day alison scagliotti as jules. i had the time of my life. 10000/10

(also: i still highly recommend the published version to anyone who read the og fic - the story feels both brand new and wonderfully, nostalgically familiar.)

2. “the headmistress” by milena mckay - sam threadneedle, a closeted math teacher working at a conservative girls boarding school, hooks up with an insanely hot older woman at a conference in the city. three months later, that same hot older woman shows up at the school. woops, she’s the new principal and she’s there to cause problems! the prose is decent, the melodrama is fun to read, and the chemistry is zesty. solid 8/10

3. “the music and the mirror” by lola keeley - based on a supercat/supergirl fic of (i think) the same name. anna, the newest member of a prestigious ballet company, really wants to impress victoria, the former prima ballerina turned artistic director. well, she definitely does that! victoria decides that anna is going to be her company’s new star. this one has a lot of homoerotic partner dancing and really great side characters. still reads like a supercat fic, but honestly that’s another plus. 9/10

4. “the love factor” by quinn ivins - set in the 90’s, this book follows a closeted statistics professor and her TA, a very out lesbian political science phd candidate, as they expose a homophobic professor for falsifying data and fall in love. not as horny as others i’ve read, but still wildly tender and cathartic. i loved also how much empathy this book showed towards closeted lgbt folks. 7/10

5. “something to talk about” by meryl wilsner - also based on a mirandy fic, this book follows the misadventures of a hollywood showrunner and her assistant when they’re mistaken for a couple at a red carpet event. this book strained my suspension of disbelief the most—i simply don’t think everyone in emma’s life would be rooting for her to date her boss LMAO—but the chemistry is great and the pining is unreal. 7/10

Since someone asked about a convo with all your protags, how would an "interaction" go between all the "giants"? Let's also pretend that they can all somewhat "communicate"/understand with one another.

In addition what would their opinions be on each other tinies, along their tinies interactions with one another based on the other ask.

Okay okay okay if we're gonna go with their corresponding giants, that would be Edix, AB299, Negasonic/Dean, Ben, and Deus.

This time it's actually a mix between giant creatures and humans so technically Dean and Ben are still tiny in comparison to the other three, which freaks out Ben, but Dean will not hesitate to nuke all of them if anyone tries to pull some shit. Ben at first tries to stick with him because, you know, us lil human guys gotta stick together, but very quickly he realizes Dean is also a morally grey bastard and would rather push his luck with the giant moth monster since he's familiar with insects (killing them, usually, but hey).

AB299 and Deus have a mutual understanding with each other and have no problem being in the other's company, seeing as their both cryptids/abnormalities. Also because they're both very active in the dark, although Deus prefers concentrated light sources obvious, while AB299 needs shadows to blend and travel. You know who happens to be a concentrated light source? Dean! (: Deus cannot stop following that funky little purple guy and any warning sparks just entices him more.

Edix...does not care about anyone here. They're all beneath him, in terms of intelligence and technological advancements. He'd rather keep to himself than be forced to interact with them, and he makes this very clear with hisses and growls when Deus tries to be friendly. He just wants to take his tiny and leave.

Edix is too jealous to let Jacob around any of the giants, but he tolerates him being with other humans (including Dean and Ben) because enrichment and socialization is good for pets. Dean doesn't care who Nano hangs around with, they're a grown adult who can make their own stupid choices, but if any of the giants seem like they might try to get rough he'll step in. Deus also doesn't mind who Jasper interacts with, both humans and giants. Ben refuses anyone to interact with Milo because he's paranoid one of the giants might hurt a kid who's barely the size of a grain of rice to them. AB299 is also possessive of Serena and doesn't want her around anyone, which causes problems because she's clearly friendly with Jacob, which causes MORE problems because Edix will 10000% go feral if AB299 tries to threaten his baby.

Edix thinks Jacob and Jacob only is the cutest, sweetest thing here and couldn't care less about the others. AB299 holds a similar view about Serena. Deus is very friendly and sociable, probably one of the only 'giant' giants that everyone can tolerate (except Dean). Dean thinks Jacob is the most pathetic out of all of them, although he's definitely got a soft spot for Milo because how can you not for the tiny baby? Ben likes Jasper's company the best. Serena has no qualms siccing AB299 on anyone, giant or tiny/human, who she thinks might hurt her, which Dean thinks is fantastic.

I feel bad that I wrote that about the girl with implants bc like i know she wants to relate to me and everything but I've changed. I used to vent a lot to my friends and they would vent to me but we would game or drink or smoke pot and do fun stuff like go to the movies or go to the mall and tell funny stories and make fun memories together.

I've got a lot on my plate. I can't handle other people's shit. Like don't get me wrong, if John needed to talk, I'd be there. I'd be there 10000% for him. He doesn't talk about his problems much but he listens and tries to help me but we also talk about video games a lot. We talk about other things like TV shows and whatever. It's a healthy relationship. But he doesn't talk a lot about his life. If he ever needed me as he is the best friend I've ever had, I'd be there. I'd listen. He could use me as emotional support. With him it's all give, he doesn't take. I feel bad about that but he knows I'd listen. I guess he prob just talks to his wife about things. He knows he can have a heart to heart with me and id be there.

I'm not a cold asshole. It's just I've noticed with many women (this doesn't apply to all women) that they do actually use their guy friends as emotional support. I think that's just how they have relationships. Idk. They relate and have heart to hearts and that doesn't go for every girl in the world. But for me I like there to be sway, yes we can talk about our shitty family but we can also talk about games and plan a fun day out and play cards or do something.

Ever since I stopped drinking and smoking pot, I've had a hard time having friends. Cause that's what me and my friends used to do together. They'd come over and we would get baked or drink or do both and we would have fun.

Now that I'm sober. I mean I'm 100% sober. I haven't had so much of a sip of a beer since before psychosis. Nothing. Not one beer. Not a cup of champagne. I mean I take xanax nightly. I don't drink anything and I won't ever again. I need xanax for sleep. Benzodiazepines and alcohol are not friends. I won't take the risk.... so now my social life has changed.

John is the only friend I have that likes what i like. He doesn't drink. His parents were alcoholics. He does talk to me about some stuff. But he is a major pot head. Hardcore pot head lol idc. He respects why I was a pot head and why I'm not anymore. But we have gaming as this hyper interest and he likes a lot of the same movies and TV shows I like so we have all this stuff to talk about. He really is a good friend. I have apple music bc of him. He game shares with me. I have access to his Xbox account. I mean I have access to multiple TV platforms bc of him. I don't want any of that shit.

I'm just thankful when I developed psychosis and i told him, he didn't leave me. He is always available. Always down to play. Always down to talk. He doesn't always know what to say.. I don't abuse that he is always available. That's one of the reasons why even though I hate zombies I'll play for hours with him bc it makes him happy.

But ever since having this huge life style change i don't know how to have friends. I just know a lot of women I've truly tried to befriend, not for potential dating purposes or anything have used me for emotional support.

I almost went to school for my masters in social work but I didn't. Why? Cause i knew i couldn't handle people talking about their lives all day. I couldn't deal with it. And a lot of women use their friends as emotional support bc that's how they relate to people and it makes me feel like a therapist if there isn't some sway.

Like Katelyn. I don't talk to her much but if we hung out, she may talk about her shit but we would have fun and dance and shit. Even without drugs.

And I guess that's what I'm looking for someone to be silly with but also have a deep relationship with. If this girl wasn't all here is my life story and we talked about games and played together or we planned to play cards or go to the mall and walk around and get food and we talked about movies it would be very different.

I'm not a monster. I do care about people. I would bend over backwards for John if he needed me. I would bend over backwards for Noah. I mean with him it's all take bc he is 14.

But like I can't be an emotional support friend. It can't be all there is to the relationship.

I feel bad for my relationship with Elise and that's why I hope she gives me another chance one day. Bc I unfortunately required much emotional support from her... too much. Everything was blurred I was stupid and didn't see the signs. And if she ever wanted to be my friend again she would see I'm a different person. I'd bend over backwards for her too. I'd be emotional support for her. I'd pick up the kids from school for her. I'd watch them while she went on a date with her husband. But id also want to talk movies. And play games with her like clue and shit.

Tbh if she ever talked to me again. I wouldn't tell her anything about my life in depth for a while. If she saw how i talked to John she would see there wasn't a difference but John talked to me more so we had time to talk about other things. Although I shouldn't have done it the way I did it. And I would take it back if I could and play words with friends with her and talk about random stuff like different dimensions and ghosts and whatever.

I hope one day she gives me a chance.

Anyways I'm looking for friends but idk how to have a relationship with people like I do with John. He actually tries to maintain contact. We could have lost contact 5000 times. I'd go weeks without responding but he would hit me up every couple days checking in. And then id resurface and we would talk. Now I talk to him everyday.

How is Microtia Treated? 

The treatment for children experiencing microtia/anotia depends on their severity of condition. The ear doctor will test the baby’s hearing ability to determine if there is any hearing loss in the ear with any defects. If the hearing loss is there, this can also create problems for the child. 

All the treatment options should be discussed, and an early action should provide better results. Hearing aids could be used to improve a child’s hearing ability that help with speech development as well. The surgeon then performs a surgery to reconstruct the external ear.

no offense, but that trans manga u described, wandering son, is almost the exact opposite of what happened. there were a good handful of trans women, surprisingly, but then the character u assume will be a trans man just ends up being ok w being a girl. it gets criticized bc the creator couldve at least considered the concept of nonbinary genders, but the character's story is kind of just dropped compared to the other. that story does get criticized for that, but its not for not having trans women, the gf of the main character ends up saying "so does that make me a lesbian?" showing she accepts her as a girl. a lot of manga has problems w trans women rep, but i dont think that one counts

I'll admit it's been ages since I last read it so I don't clearly remember everything about it. And I acknowledge there are other trans girls in it, namely the older trans woman the mc talks with, and the other child trans girl. But I'm pretty sure I remember the mc choosing to live as a boy, I can't remember the reason but I am 90% sure he did.

Plus I did mention in the tags that the gf was cool with him being a girl, in fact I stated it as a reason why I was so confused and frustrated he chose to live as a guy...

And while I again acknowledge that there were other trans characters (were there any trans men??? I can't remember there being one...) The fact that the two main characters ended up choosing not to/ or ended up not being trans is what frustrated me. Because there are trans side characters, that are written with respect in several manga, but trans, like 100% textual trans main characters? I can only think of a few other manga, and a lot of them are comedies which are still good and important but feels lacking you know?

I suppose I am being kinda harsh on wandering son, cause it is a carefully written story with a lot of care put into the way the trans characters are written and represented. I'm just frustrated you know? cause I started reading it when there were only a few chapters out and I was so so excited to have a story with a trams mc and a trans man main character! But then the trans man wasn't actually trans, I was sad but I understood that that happens so I was fine. But then the ending where even the mc ended up choosing not to be trans? I felt hurt and mildly betrayed. Like trans stories aren't for main characters? I donno but it definitely left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Also I am so sorry if I miss remembered and the character did choose to live as a girl and I've been misgendering them this whole time... It was very much not intended to imply trans girls aren't 10000% girls

also also I know you didn't say or imply it but I kinda accidentally did in the original tags so I wanna clarify I don't think the mangaka decided to make the mc stay a boy so the relationship with the gf wouldn't be gay (I said it's cause the mc didn't wanna be gay which again I don't actually remember his reasoning this was just what I vaguely remembered) cause I know the mangaka has other works with gay characters and gay mcs so I would never claim she was worried about making her characters gay.

We're producing more words per person now than we ever have been and all that, the vast majority, is digital now but it does mean that say you know 10000 years in the future someone unearths a section of New York that's been built over- its one of the things that humans do a lot is we build on top of other things so like this is one of the reasons that you know rome construction projects take so long because every time you dig something up there's just a piece of older Rome underneath it

So it's gonna have something similar with you know our major built up areas, it already happens in New York, Boston, especially in a lot of the older European cities where there's just bits you stack things on top of each other and the ground level just goes up and up as time goes on

So one of the things that we're gonna have to deal with is what happens if you do a construction project and you find an old server farm, so you have to reconstruct an old busted down water logged server farm maybe with corrupted data- like you may not have the right tools to be able to extract the data normally and there's ways we can get the data on even fried hard drives but- Its piecing that together to form a coherent picture of what the data is is very very interesting

it's 10000 years from now, someone finds an archive with, in this case a Danny phanzine, and they have to try and figure out what the fuck a zine is bc it will probably have a completely different name, that will be completely different format with how those work. So now whoever's looking at this data is trying to piece together a corrupted form of whole bunch of fan art and when you look at it, it's just a bunch of code that tells you to project an image so they have to reassemble the code to create the image and then figure out what the fuck this image is about and it's someone's interpretation of a fan work from 10000 or a piece of media from 10000 years ago so it's a real problem-

So you're telling me that using just the fan work of an incoherent kid's show like no shade to Danny Phantom but most of the kids show especially in that era don't really have an overarching plot, they have those recurring themes and villains but it's not like there's a main story going along other than Danny gets into some hijinks with his friends and also he's a ghost but trying to use The Leftovers, the corrupted fan works of that specifically, would bear no resemblance at all to the original work in any way because unless you found an intact episode or something like that there's no context for anything like that- can you imagine how our understanding or belief in how ghosts work is going to change in 10000 years like this is not just a ‘oh I'm using stuff that I don't know’ The entire context for the issue has to be completely reconstructed and half of the Phandom's jokes are not only references to the show but they're period specific references or parodies of references that were specific to the period the show takes place in. so not only are do you need to reconstruct a time period that you may not have good records for, you have to recover the language and idiomatics Central to that time period, you also have a sliding scale of when that stuff got made and it's all referencing a completely different time period. it's like deciphering fan works of Pride and Prejudice done in you know 2020 but the entire thing is referencing the victorian period-you're trying to figure out which time period all of these things are native to because figuring out who and what is writing is just as important sometimes for the context as what was actually written down it's all about understanding The WHO and what and why of what happened there

The thing about my ridiculousness is that it always STARTS so simply.

I get an idea, I start going through with it. It's like climbing a tree, just to see how far it goes. As I go through with it, the idea branches and I go further with it and chase those branches, which takes me further and further up the tree. The branches keep going and branch further, and suddenly, I end up in a mile high canopy and can't see the ground.

And this always seems to happen any time I think "oh, here's a simple little project for myself." I mean, that's how my Buffyverse expansion developed.

And now it's hitting me outside the creative - I think "oh, I'll get the Destiel fics that aren't already in my to-read list, for the sake of having as complete a collection as possible." I get through that, and then think, "when this does get transferred to my laptop and I start reading them, I should probably get some more fic and other pairings, just to have some variation." That led me to going back through various other pairings I seek out. In some cases, I've changed my expectations and what I once dismissed, now I pick up. In others, I'm probably grabbing something that I did dismiss for valid reasons and can't remember any more. And with others, considering the last time my reading of the fic I had even managed to get past the second half of the alphabet was like during lockdown in 2020, they're probably fic I have collected and actually do already have in the pile, but hey, better safe than sorry, right?

Granted, also causing problems is that I read these on my laptop, and I do not have a reliably functioning one right now, and won't for at least another month, if not more, so for the sake of managing to keep my awareness of what I have and have not read consistent and coherent, I'm basically on pause with reading them, and I'm actively watching things that add to my collection list right now, so I'm encouraging further collection...

Which is, ultimately, to say that I'm pushing the point of having 10000 fics to add to my to-read pile right now, and, at the rate I'm going and with the things I'm adding, it's not unreasonable for me to think that by the time I resume the reading proper, I'll be pushing the 20000 marker and have 40000 to-read fics in total...

All this, of course, and my listing of plot bunnies is now at 62 pages and counting, so at some point I'd like to actually put some of those together as well...

I just finished reading The Endless Nights for the first time and I need to scream about it first if all it's incredible, there is so much that I love about it, and also a lot of stuff I don't really understand (like for example what really happened to Delirium), but this fucking killed me:

Desire was Dream's favourite sibling? And they did that to him? Like Dream's own grudginess aside, I too would have been so pissed at my sibling for something similar.

well that's the thing, right - we don't know if that was desire's fault

mocking him for it, yeah, that was on them, but killalla's actions? dream has always assumed that desire is the one interfering in his love life, but we know a lot of those assumptions are false - desire finds dream's failed love life funny, but they rarely actually interfere in it to cause misfortune

(nada is the only one we know was definitely them, the rest dream just jumped to that conclusion)

and like. yeah, either way their comment was cruel. but they're also surprised after that dream took that so badly, and i do wonder what dream's sense of humour used to be like that it matched with theirs? like dream specifically uses the word funny. and dream and desire have always been so similar, the only real difference between them is that dream views mortals as people he is duty bound to care for, whereas desire views mortals as their playthings. and killalla's one of the first mortals ever, so back then those differences hadn't had a chance to conflict

and i think the interesting thing about dream and desire's feud is that it's impossible to know who really started it. yes, it's entirely possible that desire caused killalla's infidelity entirely to spite dream because it was funny, which is what dream thinks, and he becomes convinced from then on that desire cares for nothing and will take every possible opportunity to fuck him over

but knowing everything we do about desire, if i had to look at this from their perspective, it's also entirely possible they didn't do shit. they thought it was funny how easily mortals succumb to base pleasures, in the same way people might laugh at a video of a pet doing something dumb, because they do not view killalla as dream's equal and probably never did. so when dream gets all offended over them essentially going haha look what your pet did they take that as wow he can't take a joke okay he really needs to get over that one if he's taking that personally

and both of them stick to those initial assumptions and every single thing they've done to each other has been because of those assumptions, getting more and more reinforced every time desire does something cruel to dream and every time dream's ego causes problems for everyone particularly himself

(and like. im not saying desire's in the right here, but i'm also not sure early dream really understood that his girlfriends were people either, see again: nada. like, he changes his mind on nada so fast in season of mists because death pushes him into looking at things from nada's perspective - the first time in 10000 years he's ever even thought to do so. they're on an entirely different playing field here from human morality and it took dream a while to step down from that, desire is yet to do so)

as far as delirium goes, i also have emotions (and an explanation) about that! we're never actually told what set her off, some upheaval in her life (i do wonder how recently after the end of this comic that was, and if it was grief over dream that did this), but strong negative emotions for delirium have always been what pushes her to be less lucid (they're actually what caused her to change from being delight), and this was one of the worst. she got entirely lost in her realm, trapped in a haze where she was no longer even close to resembling a person, just a cloud of delirium that was giving off waves of mind rending power - not even her siblings could get close to her without losing their minds. but barnabas came to find dream and dream recruited volunteers from the people who'd already had their minds touched by her, who were already lost in her realm and thus couldn't become any more broken by getting close to her, to go in and find her

(and we've seen dream navigate delirium's realm, he's pretty good at it, because it's similar to navigating the dreaming - you don't use logic, you can't focus on physical direction or you'll get lost and you being lost will create something terrible, because you navigate them through emotion, through impulse, chasing one feeling as it turns into the next. so dream just had to tell them to focus on a little girl who's hurt, and they'd find her. which they do, and connecting with delirium and bringing that comfort of you're not alone helped pull her back into consciousness. and once she was back to herself, she could lead all of them out, which is why we see those people heal and come home after so long)

(and god i wanna know more about this situation, because destruction came back for her. this is after everything, after destruction left for good and delirium was really hurt that he didn't come back, didn't even show up for dream's funeral - this could also be the inciting incident - destruction came back because del was hurt. he's not taking up his mantle anymore, he kept his word on that, but he promised the family he'd stay and look after delirium until she was feeling better. he didn't come back when she was so sure he would, but he came back when it mattered, because he cares about her so much)

Let's start with his main style; I have no idea. I mean… he would be good at all of them, except breaststroke. He would hate it with all his being.

He would be great at swimming butterfly. I MEAN IMAGINE HIM. In fact, I'm sure he would be one of the best in his club swimming this style ( not to mention all of them). BUT, he would also hate butterfly because it is horrible to swim; you get very tired, it requires a lot of strength, endurance and effort (as a butterfly swimmer, I can confirm).

He would have a love-hate relationship with the backstroke… I feel like he would find it boring to be looking at the ceiling all the time, plus he has to be spitting water out of his mouth all the time and would find it annoying. On the other hand, he doesn't dislike it as much as breaststroke. 🤷🏼

Breaststroke. Hate. That's what he would feel about breaststroke. I don't know why I get the feeling he'd be upset that he'd get screwed out of the entire styles race because of one style. He'd be mad cause he never gets to go fast, PLUS he'd get really, really tired. And then if he goes up in time he'd get fits of rage. 😻

Freestyle. It's pretty neutral for him. He likes it, but would feel like it's well… the basics heh. 🤡 But if he would like to swim it quite a bit, but yeah, he's not passionate about it. He prefers to swim backstroke.

Would he like to compete? I feel that he would. But at the same time that no; if the person who trains him does not motivate him and only tells him how badly he does it and that he is not good at it; I tell you that obviously ✨no✨. However, if you go he would be calmer. You would help him to calm his temper. Or maybe only your urge to commit homicide would multiply. Still, it would also depend on how much time it would take away from his free time, if it requires spending a whole day, you will understand that no. But I also feel that competing would help him to release pent-up anger and frustration.

Relays. No matter the situation; whether he likes or dislikes competing, he would love relays. The simple fact of working as a team would motivate him a lot. Competitive teammates. It would really piss him off if when you're warming up, the usual idiots in the boat go and swim at 10000 km/h. He would be like, CAN YOU STOP? And I feel like he might be annoyed if they overtook him, but I mean they're HALF AN HOUR TOUCHING HIS FEET. He hates it so much. Luckily you're on his pool lane and you tell him to shut up, so he'll get into unwanted trouble. Also young Eren was super competitive.

Would he be whiny about training? I'm not sure, when he was younger maybe, I mean 10 years old Eren, but not so much now. It's not like they'd send him to do 3x200 with timer, but he'd be pretty neutral. But he would be really annoyed by people complaining out loud, calling attention to themselves, he would think "Can you shut up for a year pls?" He would only accept whines from you, he thinks that you look like a kid.

Regarding the material…

Eren would wear some blue decathlon paddles, from seven years ago, and they still fit him. Grisha bought him a pair two sizes too big and well… when he was a child, his hand would come off and he would always take the ones from the wagon because his hand would come off with his own. But now he doesn't have that problem anymore. Fins; black ones. Half-length. Tube; one of Michael Phelps' brand. He feels all professional. And… He loves wearing a tube. Hat: he would wear one from the club. Glasses: he would wear colored tinted ones. This assface wouldn't bring a bottle of water and would ask you for it. BUT only to you. 👀

Besides that, he'd be well muscled; Eren would be flexible, but only in the arms. The legs he feels like he's about to give birth.

This LORD would love to do dry training. He likes planks, crunches, jumping jacks… but you know what he doesn't like? The mats that smell like feet 🤮. He would always stick to your side, mostly you guys get separated because you keep talking, but now you control it better though.

This puto goes to the gym. He works on everything. He loves to going to the gym. But he likes to go with you. To talk to you and tell you you're doing it wrong. Then the coach comes in, tells him to leave you alone and that you're doing it right. 🌝 - Eren, I SWEAR! - E! E! E! E! Put the weight down and don't come near me! -

This guy in competitions would have girls staring at him all the time. He would feel harassed and would stick to you. In fact one time a girl started talking to him, asked for his instagram and everything. Spoiler: He gave her an instagram that wasn't his, he gave her his stepbrother's. I feel like Zeke would have an all-random name. And the worst part is that it wash. Since the girls look at him all the time he's always glued to you, talking and motivating you. Probably the rest of the club and you included, tease him. You would call him the heartbreaker. 😻
