I don't know if now is exactly the right time for this, considering everything that is going on, but I've had this post in the drafts for a while, so idk. A collection of random things I've noticed after a year of the QSMP in action (though I've only been involved in the fandom since late October).
Genuinely something fairly long, and I don't want to clog up anyone's feed with this mess of a post, so >
(colors don't mean anything in particular, I just needed to break up the text for my own attention span's sake)
Regardless of the fact that the translation feature exists, QSMP members always seem to make an effort to learn a few words in the language of other members. I frequented Tubbo's streams a lot, and I can remember him looking up Korean greetings back when Acau was just joining the server. Tina, while not fluent in the language, made an effort to converse with the newer Korean members in Korean on multiple occasions, and succeeded in that regard. BadBoyHalo and Foolish both went above and beyond to try to learn bits and pieces of the other languages on the server; Cellbit has been absolutely insane in picking up the languages present on the server, and even Quackity has worked on learning Portuguese behind the scenes with Mike. They aren't the only ones either, not by a long shot, though they were some of the few I watched happening in real time. The first days of different members joining the server were filled with exchanges of words and slang, and it was always incredible to watch. I could go onto the streams of Quackity or Tubbo or Tina when the new Korean members were joining, or Hugo, and walk away with a handful of new swears and slang under my belt. I find it incredible that everyone works so hard to communicate with each other beyond only the translation feature.
The impact of the QSMP was not on the permanent members of the server alone. While this is only one example of a great amount, I've been able to watch Aimsey's intermittent streams where they work on learning Brazilian Portuguese on Duolingo, their most recent only around three weeks ago. They joined Purgatory 2 months ago, but they made lasting friends with the Brazilian members of their team, and they still work on learning the language. They still talk about taking a trip down to Brazil to meet up with their fellow Purgatory 2 teammates, alongside Tubbo. I find that to be quite sweet, if I'm being frank.
The fandom has also worked across that language barrier. QSMP Language Day was one example of this (rip, such great idea, I had so much fun but oh my goodness did that day end terribly), though I have to give a shocking amount of credit to QSMP Twitter. It's always awesome to see the posts that trickle through in different languages, just seeing people discuss different headcanons and theories that they have in different languages, like it's nothing. The translation feature has come in clutch many, many times, but a lot of people have been working to genuinely learn a language since the server started. To those of you reaching your 1 year streak on Duolingo this week, I commend you. I just reached my 60 day one, and while it's not a lot compared to what some people have, it's a pretty big deal for me. I've seen Twitch chats filled with French, German, English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Korean. In one stream I could count spotting seven separate languages being spoken in the span of roughly seven minutes (not including French, idk where you guys went but I just did not spot you once): English, Spanish, Korean, Portuguese, German, Pashto, and Russian. QSMP Language Day was amazing, even if it was cut short by news about the admins, and it's just been really cool to see people communicating in their own respective first languages.
Translation in general. I've seen an uptick of translated closed captioning in videos created by different QSMP members, and while it isn't a lot, it's incredible to see when it does occur. I have to give a shout out to both Quackity and Baghera, for their translated closed captioning. Even if it's only a few videos, it's epic to see. I also find it very interesting that the only Offline TV video I've seen with closed captioning in more than one language was the one that Quackity was in, with Spanish subtitles. It shows that the creators care enough to add the captioning, and I think that's pretty awesome. It's also nice because often adding captions in another language forces you to add captions in the language you're primarily speaking throughout the video, which can help people who need context beyond the often messy auto-generated closed captions.
Fanfiction! Fanart! The most kudosed fanfiction on AO3 in Portuguese of any type is a GuapoDuo fanfic! Almost half of the top twenty most kudosed fanfictions in Portuguese on AO3 are QSMP. I talk about it a bit more in depth here, but it's still incredible to see just how dedicated this community is. I've been involved in multiple fic-gifting events and I've seen some genuinely incredible works come out of this fandom. Heck, I've created a lot of things for the QSMP that I'm incredibly proud of. I've seen some of the most incredible creative expression ever come out of this fandom. The tiniest accounts on YouTube posting full-length, colored animatics complete with the smallest of details (shout out to Artydrawsthings on YouTube for I GOT LOVE, that was absolutely incredible), fanfic authors writing massive A.U.s that explore every character in depth, and livebloggers that will analyze each and every movement to gush over it all. The fandom that the QSMP has built has been incredible, and it's been amazing to see it grow.
Just in general, the sense of community, and overall joy the QSMP has created. You can tell that this a passion project, created by someone who genuinely cared about and believed that what they were doing was something they wanted to be doing, and managed by people who believed that the project was doing great things. I think this is what made the QSMP flourish. It was built off people who were happy on the server, and it truly accomplished what it set out to accomplish: uniting communities. I could have said this two weeks ago, three, a month, five months, half a year; it would have held true nonetheless. However, for the QSMP's first anniversary, I think it's fitting to give it this achievement.
The QSMP without a doubt has its gaping flaws. That isn't something we can ignore, and it isn't something that we should try to. However, to ignore everything that this server has done in the year it has existed would be a crime in my eyes. I'm glad to have been a part of this fandom, and maybe I can't speak Portuguese or Spanish or German and I won't ever be able to French or Korean or whatever languages the QSMP will go on to add (sorry French, rip), but I know a lot more than I did when I started, and I think that the server has done a lot of good in the roughly year it has existed.
So thank you, to the fandom, to the server, and to everyone who made this happen, from the fanartists and the egg admins to Quackity at the top of it all. It's been a great ride, and I hope that it'll be able to continue.

Kirby Planet Robobot Translation Comparison: Meta Knightmare Returns
Tumblr media
This will be a comparison of the original Japanese version and the US English localized version.
Specifically, this will cover all the cutscenes that appear in the Meta Knightmare Returns mode.
You can also watch these cutscenes for yourself in English (1, 2, 3) and Japanese (1, 2, 3).
For the comparison, the usual points apply:
Bolded is the original Japanese text, for the reference.
Bolded and italicized is my translation.
Italicized is the official NOA translation.
A (number) indicates that I have a specific comment to make on that part in the translation notes.
As you read this, please keep in mind that with translations like these, it’s important not to focus on the exact literal wordings, since there is no single “correct answer” when it comes to translations.
Rather than that, consider the actual information that is being conveyed, in which way, and why.

Translation Note:
I’ll go over it in more detail in the section below, but the term I translated as “Another Dimension Road” is called 異空間ロード/Ikūkan Rōdo in Japanese. This term previously appeared in the Japanese version of Kirby’s Return to Dream Land.
--
Comparisons & Thoughts:
Since the cutscenes of Meta Knightmare Returns all occur towards the end and are pretty short, I decided to cover all of them in one post like this.
Still, just because they’re short doesn’t mean there is nothing to talk about.
-
It’s only mentioned briefly in these cutscenes, but I want to go over the term I adapted as “Another Dimension Road” in slightly more detail.
In the original Japanese version, the term is 異空間ロード/Ikūkan Rōdo, which first appeared in the Japanese version of Kirby’s Return to Dream Land.
To start off, 異空間/Ikūkan by itself could be translated as something like “different dimension", “different space”, “different realm”, or anything along those lines, 異/i meaning “different”, and 空間/kūkan meaning “space” or “dimension”, and the like.
This term has come up a few times in the Kirby series since Return to Dream Land, and the Japanese version of Star Allies actually gives it the English reading “Another Dimension”, which is why I also like to adapt it as that.
The term 異空間ロード/Ikūkan Rōdo, adding the English word “road” to it, also comes up a few times in Return to Dream Land.
Given what I explained above, I like to adapt it as “Another Dimension Road”.
Magolor mentions this term when he talks about his home, saying that it’s far away, but that it’s connected to Pop Star via 異空間ロード/Ikūkan Rōdo.
The English localization of the game adapted this as “interdimensional tunnel” in this instance.
Also, the cutscene that is called “Final Battle” in the English version is simply called 異空間ロード/Ikūkan Rōdo in Japanese.
Going by that, it seems safe to assume that this term can refer to the “road(s)” that connects different dimensions, realms, or the like.
Now, there is a lot more I could potentially talk about with these two terms and how they come up in the Kirby series, but it would be too long for this section here.
I might make a dedicated post just for that at some point, if that would interest people.
So, most relevant to Planet Robobot, is the fact that “Another Dimension Road” is a term we had seen before in Return to Dream Land.
The English version might be trying to keep the connection to Return to Dream Land by adapting the term as “Extra-dimensional road“ here, possibly referring to the Extra Mode of that game.
-
Back to Planet Robobot, here’s something potentially interesting about Star Dream in these cutscenes.
You’ll find that in both Japanese and English it uses about the same speaking style as it did during its appearance in the main story.
And the English version actually adapts it in the same way as it did back then, so I appreciate the consistency there.
Like before, the English version has it use some more computer-like sounding phrases here, like saying “admin” instead of “master”.
Most notable as a change is probably the phrase “Sword_Master.EXE”, which would imply that Star Dream might have a dedicated program just for either cloning Dark Matter Blade, or sword users in general.
But what’s really interesting to me is something else.
Now, I don’t know if this is just a coincidence, but Star Dream does not refer to itself in first person at any point in these cutscenes
With the way the Japanese language works, this isn’t all too uncommon, but it still stands out a bit, because Star Dream referring to itself in first person during the main story was a notable trait it had.
A machine wouldn’t normally refer to itself like that, so Star Dream doing that seemed like a result of it gaining a sense of self during those events.
And keep in mind that those events, namely Star Dream fusing with Hatlmann’s spirit, don’t actually occur during the story of Meta Knightmare, meaning Star Dream actually should not have a sense of self in this scenario.
So, Star Dream not referring to itself in first person during these cutscenes could be meant to reflect that? But that’s just my guess.
In any case, because of the above, I decided to adapt its dialogue in these cutscenes without using any first person either.
And from what I can tell, it looks like the English localization may have thought the same thing, since they also don’t use any (singular) first person for Star Dream here.
I realize this means there isn’t any difference between versions when it comes to this aspect, but I still wanted to mention it, because it’s easy to miss.
-
In the Japanese version, Star Dream’s dialogue here contains more direct references to Milky Way Wishes, with it using several of the same phrases that Galactic Nova used.
Most notably, this includes it counting down from 3 and finishing the counter with the words “Go!!”, which is also referenced during its boss battles.
In the English version, these phrases are slightly rewritten and don’t match Galactic Nova’s dialogue from either English version of Milky Way Wishes, with the countdown in particular ending with “Begin!” instead.
As a result, that final line also no longer matches the visuals of Star Dream’s final boss battle.
If you only look at the text in this game right here, it does make sense to rewrite these phrases slightly, “Begin!” certainly sounds more appropriate than “Go!!” out of context.
But this, combined with the fact that any other subtle reference to Milky Way Wishes in the text so far has been glossed over in English makes me think that the English localizers either didn’t realize that these were references, or ended up ignoring them for some reason.
Whatever said reason may be, I still think it’s a shame, because when you add all of them up, there is a great deal of connections to Milky Way Wishes in this game’s text that are lost in the English version, leaving it only with the visual and musical references.
And those are still nice, don’t get me wrong, but it still feels like you’re missing out just a little.
-
Somewhat related to the above, Star Dream’s reasoning for its actions in these cutscenes is quite different between versions, changing a lot about the context of what is happening.
In the Japanese version, Star Dream seemingly comes to the conclusion that Meta Knight wishes to fight strong opponents. So, the reason why it proceeds to summon several powerful warriors is specifically because it is attempting to comply with that desire.
And that really seems to be all there is to it in the Japanese version, no apparent additional motivation other than to satisfy its new master Meta Knight.
At most you can speculate whether or not Meta Knight really was actively wishing for this to happen, or if Star Dream was misinterpreting him, but...
Considering this is a direct parallel to Meta Knightmare Ultra, and Meta Knight did wish for something exactly like that over there, I’d wager it’s safe to bet Star Dream’s assessment of him was at least partially accurate.
And of course, this also gives Star Dream another direct parallel to Galactic Nova.
In the English version, Star Dream instead states that Meta Knight has to supply his credentials, and thus all the battles that follow are portrayed as “tests” for Meta Knight.
This also implies that Star Dream would probably test any potential new admin in such a manner, in contrast to the Japanese version, where Star Dream seems to accept Meta Knight right away without question.
I know that this particular change has caused English-speaking fans to speculate what sort of test Haltmann may have had to pass, which can be interesting of course.
But for the reference, no such tests seem to exist in the Japanese version.
-
And still related to the above, in the English version, Star Dream states that Meta Knight must supply his credentials “to the strongest warriors of this planet”, which might even be a small translation error?
Because in the Japanese version, Star Dream only states that Meta Knight will have the opportunity to “CLASH with a sword USER… WHO possesses CONSIDERABLE strenGTH… even for THIS planet”, so that latter part is only referring to the clone of Dark Matter Blade.
There is no clear plural in Japanese, so one could interpret the Japanese line as referring to all three warriors that Star Dream ends up summoning, but since it gives a little introduction for Sectonia Clone and Galacta Knight, I think it’s more likely this line right here was just its introduction for Dark Matter Clone.
The English phrasing also makes you wonder why Star Dream would even summon Galacta Knight, who’s not taken from this planet, or even this era for that matter.
It just kinda doesn’t add up when you think about it more.
-
And that’s about it for these cutscenes.
The most notable change is the completely different reasoning behind Star Dream’s action here.
I personally feel it gives this entire ending scenario a different vibe, and potentially the implication of what Meta Knight’s role in it is, considering the parallels to Meta Knightmare Ultra.
With that, we have covered all of the cutscenes of Kirby: Planet Robobot, but we are not done quite yet.
There is still more story to this game, so for the next part, we will start tackling the pause screen descriptions of the boss fights!
Feel free to check it out!

Eldarya Come-Back
[Disponibile in Italiano qui]
Eldarya EU servers are back up. For people out of the loop, a fire destroyed both the servers and the backups of Eldarya. It's not beemoov's fault.
BR and US servers, stored somewhere else, are perfectly ok.
The FR server accounts were lost, but the story retrieved.
All the others (IT HU PL DE ES RU) have both the accounts and the story wiped out. ANE has been re-translated/Recovered, but origins is currently only playable in english.
Only the first 2 episodes of ANE have been translated so far. Errata corrige: PL, RU, ES haven't released any ANE episodes yet. DE IT and HU have the first 2 available in english. DE and HU appear to be broken.
Level 7 and episode 6 of origins (completed) are needed to access the market.
BUG REPORT: Currently there is a bug where if you change the name of your companion for the first time after evolving it you lose 100gc. please take care.
BUG REPORT: If you already have a companion and you play episode 3 of Origins you won't be able to hatch the companion Kero gives you and you might get stuck right after "Objective: Go to Kero’s room to complete the Companion Questionnaire"
Accounts must be recreated. You have to create a new account and, if you ever bought maana or gold coins, follow the instructions below.
I REPEAT, ACCOUNTS ARE LOST ON THE EU SERVERS. YOU MUST MAKE A NEW ACCOUNT. (sorry, I get this one a lot)
FAQ of sort under the cut, original here. Italian translation will be here starting tomorrow. warning: it’s long XD
♦ WHAT DO I GET?
Everyone gets 1000 maanas, 100 gold coins and 350.000 ancient coins upon creating an account. You will also get 5 big exp potions, 10 small, 5 big energy potions, 10 small, 1 evolution potion and 3 incubators. You will also get the companion Sogiluv... it's not very good. You can retrieve some (most?) of the currency you bought by contacting the support (see below), you will be credited maana/ancient coins depending on your purchases; once you get the money back the 3 spin-offs will automatically unlock, along with the bank outfits.
The first companion to hatch will require no incubation time.
BR and US Server got 10.000 AC for their troubles too, but no maana or GC or items.
♦ I ENDED UP IN THE WRONG GUARD.
Please check this page. Re-doing the 3rd episode of Origins WON'T help.
♦ DECORATING GUARDIENNE'S ROOM, EP 5-6.
If you want to know how to get the guy you like AND have the room decorated by him, or other questions along these lines check this link
♦ WHAT'S THE BEST COMPANION TO USE?
Since you can now get any companion you like if you want to get the "best" one in terms of energy/luck ratio you should consider these:
PLESE NOTE: Hatching an adult companion (Chiromagnus, Blobbiathan) has the advantage of giving you an adult companion AND saving the evolution potion. This could be nice to have, for example, during a map event, you can use all the energy of your companion after midnight, then hatch another egg, use all the energy of the baby, evolve with the potion, use all the energy of the adult. If well played , with a baby companion, it means potentially 400-500 energy to use on the map
"Best" Companion, bought food (36 maana): Blobbiathan Energy 170 (already an adult when hatched) Luck 360 - 400
"Best" Companion, bought food (30 maana or less):
1. Chiromagnus Energy 160 (already an adult when hatched) Luck 340-390
2. Zarali Energy 90-160 Luck 350-380
3. Ocemas Energy 100-150 Luck 310-360
4. Ciralak Energy 110-160 Luck 300-350
4. Rawist Energy 110-160 Luck 300-350
"Best" Companion, farmed food (in exploration):
1. Alfeli: Energy 80-150 Fortuna 320 -370
2. Gallytrot: Energy 110-150 Fortuna 320-370
I consider the Alfeli "better" because its food, elven grapes, comes from a 20energy/30 min area, Mont sizhe, compared to the food for the gallytrot, gallyflore, from the Cave (35 energy/60 min).
♦ WHAT CAN I USE ANCIENT COINS FOR?
There is a special ancient coins shop (Until May 9th) with ALL the items ever released in the game. I do not advise using them for Origins illustrations but I suggest you grab some of the rarest items at least. It's among the boutiques.
BANK ITEMS WILL ONLY APPEAR AFTER RETRIEVING THE PURCHASED CURRENCY (? Im not sure about this, some are there from the beginning and I'm still waiting on the email I sent for the currency)
♦ HOW LONG DOES THE SHOP LAST?
May 9th
♦ HOW DO I GET MY BOUGHT MAANA/GOLD COINS BACK?
Go to "your account" by clicking on your name (top right). There is a button to retrieve the credit, for many payment options there is a simple form to fill.
However, if you paid by credit card or paypal you have to send an email to the support (you can get the adress by clicking on "other"). In the mail you should include:
Credit card:
- Old/New Username (if they aren't the same) - The email address associated to the accounts - The date and the amount in €/$ of a recent transaction (max 12 months old, the most recent, the better). - Last 4 digits of the credit card you used. - I'm not sure what happens if you you used more than a credit card, I'd suggest sending one transaction per credit card and telling them about this issue.
Paypal:
- Old/New Username (if they aren't the same) - The email address associated to the accounts - If it's not the same email address, the email address/username of the paypal account. - The date and the transaction ID* of a recent transaction (max 12 months old, the most recent, the better).
* Transaction ID's can be found in the confirmation email you get when you make a payment or on the paypal website, in the payment history section.
One ID should suffice, they can retrieve them all from there.
♦ WHAT DO YOU ADVISE WE BUY?
On a general note, do not buy things that can be found at all times, like explorations items, other than that, anything you like, but I'd at least consider to buy/play the following:
*** PLEASE NOTE: I've heard rumors that during each event, you will be able to find things in explorations from the previous events of that kind, so easter should have the other easter events' outfits on the map. I'd wait a bit to spend the coins to see if we get any confirmation, the store will be open until May 9th.
HOW CAN I KNOW WHERE (SOMETHING) IS FROM?
Wiki. Or This wonderful site. Or the wikinyan (c'est moi!), I don't mind answering specific messages, I'll update this post with any question I get. If you don't know the french name you can find it out in the French shop.
1. COMPANIONS:
Other than the event companions that you like you should probably consider...
GET:
Minaloo and Draflayel. These only comes from the purro'swap. Once the store closes, if you're unlucky, you'll never see them again.
Calunko and Bunraku. They're 2 of the japan expo rewards and with the merchandise boutique closed, they're incredibly hard to obtain, you need a physical code.
Chiromagnus, while you can get this from explorations, the scroll for it is extremely rare, and 2000 AC is stealing it.
ON THE FENCE:
The Seryphon , Poulpatata (both of them) and the chestok. These can be found on AH but require Gold coins to get in exploration. Personally I won't get them, but it's personal preference.
SKIP:
All the normal explorations companions, no matter how rare. They'll start popping up at the market soon enough
2. CLOTHES:
This is clearly completely at your own discretion, Events and ranking rewards should be considered. However there are some times never released before, like the fireflies so...
GET:
Fireflies. A beta-tester reward item, they were never made available to purchase before.
Steam girl set (Total: 1594 AC). It's the japan expo 2017 reward, 9 pieces
Maana demon and its other 3 colorations is a skin never seen in the game, previously reserved for admins. It could however be added to explorations, like other items of this kind.
Frency French was once an inside joke for ChiNoMiko, has not been made available to the public before, you can buy the skin, the hairstyle (it's a special jackson), Frency French Top, etc it's just a joke, but it's still something you won't see again, if you like it.
ON THE FENCE:
Depending how much you hate alchemy, you can consider some alchemy stuff.
Some rare Skins like Nan'vi, that could be hard to find in explorations
Rainbow and Pearly hair colours, if you like them, they can be rare/offered only in rare circumstances.
Crylasm set (526 AC), top, socks, hat. It was a special Christmas outfit released one piece at a time during Christmas events of 2016, 2017, 2018
Healer support Set (400 AC), made of 7 pieces, it was a special gift given at the beginning of the 2020 pandemic)
Rainbow Spirit (1594 AC), released for the 2020 Pride month (sorta)
Guard ranking rewards, the total il 11.980 AC (thanks Desdhi ♥)
SKIP:
Anything normally on the shop, or from (normal) map explorations.
3.ILLUSTRATIONS:
GET:
Possibly the event ones you like the best, there should be 42 event illustrations for a total of 105.000 ac
SKIP:
If you have the time to farm, the episodes' ones. They're way cheaper with replay, with a few exceptions (see below).
ON THE FENCE:
There are a few episodes where it's cheaper to buy the other illustrations than replay, I'll make a list below.
♦HOW MUCH IS...
EGGS
As "one time" I mean it's either now or never, so exclusive items or event items, unless they come back with their event.
No Explorations is events + rare +the stuff  that you would pay gc to get the bait for
All the eggs: 222.400,
One-time + rare ones: Chiromagnus, Minaloo Draflayel: 164.500
one-time: 158.000
No explorations (+GC/rare ones): 180.700
BACKGROUNDS:
All: why do you hate yourself? don't. it should be around 5660
Events only: 2460
EPISODES:

Episode 15 - 2500 maana ca - 3 illustrations, play 3 times (7500 vs 6000, it's better to buy the other 2!) (!) Episode 16 - 2150 maana ca - 1 illustration, play once (2150 vs 2000 it's still worth to play the episode) (*) Episode 17 - 2450 maana ca - 3 illustrations, play ONCE (2450 vs 6000) Episode 18 - 1900 maana ca - 6 illustrations, play 3 times (5700 vs 12000) Episode 19 - 1700 maana ca - 4 illustrations, play 4 times (6800 vs 8000) Episode 20 - 1800 maana ca - 5 illustrations, play 4 times (7200 vs 10000) Episode 21 - 1800 maana ca - 3 illustrations, play once (1800 vs 6000) Episode 22 - 1700 maana ca - 4 illustrations, play 3 times (6800 vs 8000) (!) Episode 23 - 2100 maana ca - 4 illustrations, play 4 times (8400 vs 8000, it's better to buy the other 3!) Episode 24 - 2000 maana ca - 2 Illustrations, play once (2000 vs 4000) (!) Episode 25 - 2500 maana ca - 3 illustrations, play once (2500 vs 6000) (!) Episode 26 - 2200 maana ca - 4 Illustrations, play three times (6600 vs 8000, it's better to play once for 2 illustrations then buy the other 2!) Episode 27 - 1800 maana ca - 4 Illustrations, play 3 times (5400 vs 8000) Episode 28 - 1700 maana ca - 5 illustrations, play 3 times (5100 vs 10000) (!) Episode 29 - 3250 maana ca - 4 illustrations, play 4 times (13000 vs 8000 it's a huge ac loss to replay) (!) Episode 30 - 2400 maana ca - 4 illustrations, play 4 times. (9600 vs 8000 it's better to play once and buy the other 3)
Grand total so far: 93 Illustrations, 71 playthroughs, 58 suggested.  Extimated maana/Ancient coins: 129.000 replay eveything vs  186.000 buying everything. Optimal:  122.750
IF you play everything once then buy the rest you should spend around 146000
* Optimal means buying the illustrations where needed before May 9th, then play all the episodes at your leisure.  The episodes where you'd have to buy illustrations are: 15, 23, 26, 29, 30.
Please remember that if you buy the illustrations then you decide to play the game you will ended up paying not only 186.000 ac for the illustrations, but also roughly 60.000 to play all the episodes. The only case where my racommendation is to buy the illustrations is if you really don't care about origins or you only want a few illustrations

Ye got any Impy headcannons up ye sleeves?
Anything is fine :)
Oh Impulse headcanons are what you crave? It's not like he's one of my favorite Hermits or anything no. Seriously though yes I have Impy headcanons. This leads into some Team ZITS backstory headcanons as well just because I can't talk about Impulse without the backstory apparently.
This one is LONG so you're getting a read more, it's just… head full. Impulse beloved.
-Mod Slime
Species
Impulse is Enderborn. He's from the End and has powers that are like a mix of the Ender dragon(wings and dragon's breath) and Endermen(teleportation).
These Enderborn powers(save the wings) don't ever really come out unless Impulse is agitated enough.
This leads Impulse to thinking he's human but somehow has wings. He's oblivious to the fact he's not human("I think I'm human" + the offense he takes in 3rd Life when Cleo says being human is "out of fashion").
Being born in the End or the Nether leads to humans thinking that a Player is demon(hence ppl mistaking Tango for a demon), which considering Impulse can be summoned, makes people think that even more.
Backstory
Before Hermitcraft, Impulse resided in the end until he was found by Skizz and Zedaph. Zed can speak Galactic, so he had to help translate what Impulse was saying. This led to them teaching Impulse how to speak English.
They taught Impulse about the Overworld and he got really interested and wanted to go with them
Impulse took a liking to two things specifically upon entering the Overworld. Redstone and mob wrangling.
The mob wrangling eventually leads Impulse into the Nether, where he goes a bit too deep and ends up in an area similar to the 1.16 Nether.
He finds a Netherborn kid(?) running away from a mob he hadn't seen yet, but that wasn't important. The important thing was saving the little guy and getting him away from the mob before he got killed
Turns out this kid is Tango. So Impulse kind of accidentally adopted Tango.
General
Other notable things about Impulse are that he is definitely a dad friend. He is just a very hypocritical dad friend. He’ll tell one of the Hermits to sleep yet he spends multiple days without sleeping. He makes sure his friends take care of himself, yet he sleeps out in the snow for a week after hurting himself. He basically can not take care of himself properly because he’s too busy caring for his friends
After every major event on the server, he will definitely just collapse in bed for a few days, sometimes he does this at Zed or Tango's bases, since the three of them probably have weekly sleepovers
Impulse is the originator of the Hermit Debug Week. He noticed Tango's eyes messed up one time and offered to fix them. On the same day, Mumbo came by and asked if Impulse could help him reattach his arm. Impulse decided "hey what if all the Hermits with technical parts just come to my place once a month in case of any issues"(the problem is Doc was stubborn and refused to come for the first few Debug Weeks. Eventually Impulse had to drag him there because his arm was glitched beyond repair and he wasn't asking anyone for help). Debug week consists of Tango, Mumbo, Iskall, Doc, and most recently, Zedaph.
Impulse's closet confuses everybody. He has multiple versions of his yellow shirt. One has the Creeper face on the front and the "i" on the back. He has one that's the reverse of this, he has one that doesn't have a back and is just the "i" on front. He has multiple color variants of these shirts. He has a shirt with his face on it instead of a Creeper. He has so many.
He's one of the few Hermits with wings in their natural state. Others include Grian(space wings), Stress(butterfly wings), Scar(Vex wings), and False(bat wings).
He has an irrational fear of bats and refuses to explain.
Impulse is the living embodiment of "I have drank 5 cups of coffee and am running on pure adrenaline" and it's impossible to stop him when he is thinking about being a madlad.
3rd Life
On 3rd Life his skin has more black and purple on it, his fingers are longer too. He has yet to accept that this means he's Enderborn. He thinks it's just a glitch or something and Grian sucks at adminning
His sclera are slowly turning purple over time. He yet again refuses to acknowledge that this makes him inhuman. Everybody else knows.
He doesn't have his wings on 3rd Life.
Moonlight SMP
He still thinks about how he thought a male witch was hitting on him. Tango refuses to let that go.
When doing the interviews to figure out members, Impulse and Tango decided to tell Zed to act as if he didn't know them. This was absolutely worth the humor it led to.

bonjour, ma chérie aera!
you did not say i’m your fav carat, you’re such a sweet lil cupcake  ٩(。•́‿•̀。)۶ congratulations!! oh, what’s your major? or i’m a bad guesser and you’re still in high school? what was your test about? i’m really happy about your result! it was on the 25th but thank u for your lovely message, i can feel your enthusiasm just by reading it<3 the celebration was really good because I celebrated the whole weekend (from friday to sunday lol), I got to see my grandparents and have dinner with them on friday, I went to a japanese restaurant on saturday with my family and on sunday I had breakfast at ihop again with my fam! I had a strawberry cake!! may I ask what’s your astrological sign? (again, i would like to guess your birthday<3)
but you ask such great questions!! (✿◠‿◠) oh, don’t worry! thank u for your help but I don’t want to sound too demanding, I also happen to not know fully how to configure a new theme to my profile so I’ll search some yt tutorials and then I’ll ask u for one specific theme! oh, i don’t think you’re messy at all! actually, I kinda revealed myself at the very early beginning because I followed you but then I read again the message from the organizers and I realized I had to be anonymous (sadly I had to unfollow u, but maybe you got the notification??) so maybe you already know who I am o(﹏╥)o
yes! i feel the same way about ttt!! i want to know if you also like to drink alcohol? svt really loves to drink soju and i find it really funny and cute.
yes I was! I think my main problem was being able to find the correct words to express thoughts and feelings from my characters, so your words about me knowing my way with words makes me feel really happy and maybe I could considerate going back to writing but I really don’t know what could I write to start again??
I also read at night before going to sleep! <3 actually I started to read the ones you recommended me and I must say I have been feeling more romantic than before haha; sure dear, take your time and enjoy the reading! (but don’t sleep too late because you have classes and I want u to learn and get good grades!)
I’m happy you get nice feelings from my words, all I do is reply with the same kindness and energy that I get from reading your words (´꒳`)♡ thank u for being a great person so far, I’m really thankful of being paired with you <3 / so far, my summer consisted on going to the us to get vaccinated (i’m giving away some hints of where am I from lol) and to work at my sister’s coffee shop, sadly, my summer has only two more weeks, so I’ll try to clean my room and to watch a lot of svt content during this weeks! on the last question I didn’t ask anything so here are some questions for u:
– if u could choose one svt unit to be part, which one would u chose?
– let’s play kiss, date and marry! my options are: wonwoo, joshua and minghao (i don’t know why I choose this members haha)
– favorite svt album? / do u collect svt goods?
as always I wish u a lot of happiness and health! remember to eat well and sleep 8 hours. i send u a virtual hug (づ ◕‿◕ )づ
–f 🐯❤️
hello f🐯❤️, your greetings are always so cute!!!
I'm currently a first year in uni, majoring in psych sci! It was just some simple application test for my critical thinking module!! Damn, a whole weekend of celebration + with your grandparents! That sounds really memorable esp when it's laid out over a few days AND WITH YOUR RELATIVES INCLUDED TOO. I've heard of IHOP (they serve pancakes & waffles right?) but we don't have them here (。•́︿•̀。) STRAWBERRY! CAKE! MY FAVOURITE KIND OF CAKE!
Don't worry about it, just lmk if you need help configuring your theme, though I usually just copy & paste the code from the creators! (≧ᴗ≦) I'm a pisces!! HUH YOU DID??? I DIDN'T RECEIVE NOTIFICATIONS AT ALL AGSJDKFK. You're still a mystery, I still don't know your identity rest assured but I'm definitely curious though (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.) I love alcohol but not a big fan of vodkas, spirits or any high content alcohol unless it's mixed with others! Having said that, I like soju a lot bc I've good memories drinking soju with my friends after lectures or submissions in college!
Ahhh, I don't think you need to use big words to express your emotions though, so far in all our convos (does the asks & replies count as one?) I can feel your feelings and emotions when you ask me questions and share your thoughts with me! I don't write bc I'm not good with sentence structure and my thoughts tend to be everywhere + generally my english is subpar to begin with! You can try writing drabbles of your favourite members in svt! Doesn't have to be complicated! Something you feel you can translate it into words for your readers.
ahskdjdk im sorry, carat writers are so good writing soft fluffy romance that I'm a sucker for that ( ꈍᴗꈍ) I sleep well on non school days!!! I've have an out of loop sleeping schedule and now that I'm older, I'm a super light sleeper (or maybe college played a part too ㅠ ㅠ). Can't sleep without absolute silence or darkness </3 But I'll probably think of you when I start my tests in the future— on the sidelines silently cheering me on ( ˘ ‿˘)♡
im glad the admins paired us up!! I was worrying beforehand if I had anything to ask or continue the conversation but it seems my worries were unfounded!! On the contrary, I'm talking SO SO SO MUCH. THAT'S GOOD, you're vaccinated already! I hope you continue to stay safe & double mask if it's gonna be crowded wherever you're headed! I just had my 2nd dose this morning too hehe. Working at your sister's coffee shop??? bub, you're living the y/n lifestyle rn. Your summer vacation is a coffee shop au. (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)
If I had to be in a unit, I'd probably join the performance unit; I kinda wanna learn how to dance like minghao! ahskdkd everything I do links back to minghao in some form or way unconsciously I realised. I'd kiss shua, date wonwoo & marry minghao!! I've their henggarae albums (my favorite album cover design, hence I caved in and bought it) & I was gifted their going seventeen album by a friend! I think an ode is extremely pretty too! So probably henggarae & an ode. No I don't,,,, the shipment fees are too high, so the above-mentioned items are the only official goods I own but I did get their gose magazine AND I DON'T REGRET IT ONE BIT!
Now it's time for the questions to be asked back!!!
what's in the ihop menu & your favorite item on it?
astro sign?
do you like alcohol? if yes, what type and/or brand!
which unit would you like to join?
kiss, date, marry: hoshi, jun & dino!!
your fave album?
your current stash of svt goods or maybe are you starting collect rn?
how is it working at your sister's cafe? (any out of the ordinary happening (✷✷)
This answer seems longer than usual + there are more questions at the end so just take your time to explain your choices if you want to. I'd love to know why you pick a certain choice so don't worry if it's too long! Until the next ask f🐯❤️!!

Teacher (Christian Yu Scenario)
Tumblr media
Requested
Admin: Zion
POV: Second
Genres: Fluff, Comedy
You rested your elbows on the desk and rubbed your eyes. It was finally time for lunch, the one time every day you didn’t get bothered by students, because they were just as excited as you were about having no class for a little bit. You grabbed a stack of essays and dragged them toward you.
You dreaded grading assignments. The students didn’t even try most of the time because a majority of them didn’t really want to learn English. They were fine with barely passing. Your students had so much potential, but no matter how interesting and fun you tried to make your lessons, they refused to pay attention.
“Excuse me, miss? Is it okay if I turn an assignment in late?”
You threw a pencil in the direction of the voice. “Nice try, but I recognize your voice easily. Especially with that accent. What are you doing here?”
Christian pulled up a chair next to you and sat down. “I wanted to have lunch with you.”
“What did you bring?” You had yet to look up from the papers in front of you, but you knew he was watching you intently.
“Chinese, obviously. It always cheers you up, even just a little bit. You know, I could grade those papers for you.”
“You don’t know my grading system, Christian.”
“I could learn it or give them all low grades.”
“Either way they’re all going to get low grades, if anything your grades are going to be generous,” You muttered as you marked out an entire paragraph filled with nothing but grammatical errors and sentences that didn’t make any sense. “Do you ever think that maybe they just use Google Translate?”
He laughed and leaned back in the chair. “Actually they probably do.”
You dropped your pen onto the desk and turned toward Christian. “Where’s the food?”
“Right here.” He leaned to the side and produced a plastic bag. He opened it and began setting Chinese take-out boxes on your desk. “I think that the cashier was flirting with me when I was paying for this.”
“Oh, really? What did she say?” You plucked a container and chopsticks from his hand and opened it.
“She kept staring at me and when I gave her my card we accidentally touched hands and she started blushing like crazy and looking anywhere but at me.” He broke the chopsticks apart and began eating chow mein.
“Poor girl. She doesn’t realize how much of a pain in the ass you truly are.”
“Watch your mouth. Swear words may be one of the few things your students do know in English and I don’t want a passerby to hear you using inappropriate language. I know you love me and find me sexy. You have to be at least a little jealous.”
You chewed thoughtfully on orange chicken and shrugged. “I may love you, but I also know you love me too much to leave me for some woman you don’t even know.”
“Fair enough. When does your lunch end?”
“In about ten minutes. I really don’t want to deal with the next class.”
“Why not?”
“They’re noisy and disrespectful.”
“I could be your bodyguard and beat up any of the little shits that are rude to you.”
“Yeah, right. It’s not like I need this job. You can’t stay around for the rest of the day, anyway. I won’t be able to focus.”
“Because I’m so sexy and irresistible so you would end up making out with me right in front of your students? I don’t see what’s wrong with that. You’ll teach them some French.” He smirked and took a swig of water.
You laughed and lightly shoved him. “Don’t say such things.”
“You know it’s one of your fantasies. Making out with me in front of a crowd of hormonal teenagers, being called up to the office, getting fired.”
“Be still, my heart. You have such a way with words, Christian. I’m surprised women aren’t fighting to the death just to be able to look at your heavenly presence.”
He stood up and grabbed the bag that was now filled with mostly empty containers. He snuck a quick kiss and hugged you before heading toward the door. You said your good-byes and you mentally prepared yourself for the next class.

How to learn any language in six months | Chris Lonsdale | TEDxLingnanUniversity
Tumblr media
Translator: TED Translators admin Reviewer: Allam Zedan The persons within the back, are you able to hear me evidently? Adequate, excellent. Have you ever ever held a query in intellect for goodbye that it becomes a part of how you feel? Possibly even a part of who you might be as a character? Good I’ve had a question in my intellect for many, many years and that’s: how are you going to speed up studying? Now, this is an exciting query in view that in case you speed up learning, you can spend much less time at college. And should you study really rapid, you in general would not ought to go to tuition at all. Now, after I was once young, institution was once type of ok but… I determined quite by and large that college received in the way in which of studying so I had this query in mind: How do you learn faster? And this commenced after I was once very, very young, when I used to be eleven years old, I wrote a letter to researchers in the Soviet Union, asking about hypnopaedia, this is sleep-learning, where you get a tape recorder, you place it beside your bed and it activates in the core of the night time when you are slumbering, and you are speculated to be studying from this.A just right concept, lamentably it doesn’t work. But, hypnopaedia did open the doors to research in different areas and we now have had super discoveries about finding out that began with that first question. I went on from there to end up enthusiastic about psychology and i’ve been worried in psychology in many extraordinary ways for the relaxation of my existence up except this point. In 1981, I took myself to China and that i determined that I used to be going to be native level in chinese language inside of two years. Now, you ought to have an understanding of that in 1981, everybody concept chinese language was fairly, quite difficult and that a Westerner would learn for 10 years or more and never quite get superb at it. And i additionally went in with a further notion which was: taking the entire conclusions from psychological study up to that factor and making use of them to the learning system. What used to be rather cool used to be that in six months I used to be fluent in Mandarin chinese language and it took just a little bit longer to get up to native. However I appeared round and that i noticed all of these folks from distinct countries struggling terribly with chinese language, I noticed chinese men and women struggling terribly to gain knowledge of English and different languages, and so my question got refined all the way down to: how are you going to help a common grownup be trained a brand new language rapidly, easily and easily? Now this is a particularly, really main question in contemporary world. We have now huge challenges with environment, now we have big challenges with social dislocation, with wars, all varieties of things occurring and if we are not able to keep in touch, we’re rather going to have situation fixing these issues. So we ought to be competent to speak every other’s languages, that is fairly, rather main. The query then is: How do you do that? Well, it’s simply quite effortless. You appear round for people who can already do it, you seem for circumstances where it can be already working and then you identify the ideas and apply them. It’s referred to as modelling and i have been looking at language learning and modelling language learning for approximately 15 to two decades now.And my conclusion, my commentary from that is that any grownup can study a 2nd language to fluency inside six months. Now after I say this, most people consider i am crazy, this isn’t feasible. So let me remind every body of the historical past of human progress, it’s all about expanding our limits. In 1950, everybody believed that strolling one mile in four minutes was once not possible, after which Roger Bannister did it in 1956 and from there it is acquired shorter and shorter. A hundred years ago everybody believed that heavy stuff doesn’t fly.Besides it does and we all know this. How does heavy stuff fly? We reorganise the material utilizing ideas that now we have realized from watching nature, birds on this case. And at present now we have long past even additional… We have long gone even additional, so which you could fly a vehicle. That you could purchase any such for a pair a hundred.000 US bucks. We’ve automobiles on the earth that fly. And there’s yet another strategy to fly which we’ve realized from squirrels. So all you have got to do is copy what a flying squirrel does, build a go well with called a wing suit and off you go, which you could fly like a squirrel. Now most folks, quite a lot of persons, i would not say each person however quite a few individuals think they are not able to draw. However there are some key principles, 5 principles, that you may apply to learning to attract and which you can without a doubt learn to draw in five days. So, if you happen to draw like this, you learn these standards for five days and follow them and after five days you could draw anything like this. Now i do know that is authentic for the reason that that was once my first drawing and after five days of making use of these principles that was once what I was competent to do. And i looked at this and that i went: "Wow, so that is how I look like when I’m concentrating so intensely that my mind is exploding." So, any person can be trained to attract in 5 days and in the identical way, with the same common sense, someone can study a 2d language in six months. How? There are 5 principles and 7 actions. There may be just a few extra but these are most likely core. And earlier than I get into these I just wish to speak about two myths, I want to dispel two myths. The primary is that you simply need talent. Let me tell you about Zoe. Zoe came from Australia, went to Holland, used to be seeking to study Dutch, struggling totally, tremendously… A nice deal and in the end folks had been announcing: "you’re utterly vain," "you are now not gifted," "stop," "you’re a waste of time" and she or he was very, very depressed. And then she got here across these five standards, she moved to Brazil and she utilized them and in six months she used to be fluent in Portuguese, so talent would not topic. Men and women additionally feel that immersion in a brand new country is how to gain knowledge of a language. However appear around Hong Kong, seem at the entire westerners who’ve been here for 10 years, who do not speak a phrase of chinese language. Appear at all of the chinese dwelling in the united states, Britain, Australia, Canada have been there 10, twenty years and they don’t converse any English. Immersion per se does now not work. Why? When you consider that a drowning man can’t gain knowledge of to swim. Whilst you do not communicate a language, you’re like a baby. And if you drop your self into a context which is all adults speaking about stuff over your head, you will not learn. So, what are the 5 principles that you just ought to pay awareness to? First: the 4 phrases, concentration, meaning, relevance and reminiscence, and these interconnect in very, very principal approaches. Notably when you’re talking about studying. Include me on a journey by way of a wooded area. You go on a stroll via a wooded area and you see some thing like this… Little marks on a tree, maybe you pay concentration, probably you don’t. You go yet another 50 metres and you see this… You will have to be paying attention. Another 50 metres, if you haven’t been paying attention, you see this… And at this factor, you’re paying awareness. And you’ve just learned that this… Is main, it can be imperative considering it way this, and anything that’s associated, any information related to your survival is stuff that you’re going to pay attention to and as a consequence you are going to take into account it. If it is involving your private targets, then you are going to pay concentration to it. If it is primary, you are going to consider it. So, the first rule, first principle for studying a language is focus on language content that is relevant to you.Which brings us to tools. We grasp tools via utilising instruments and we be trained tools the fastest when they are central to us. So let me share a story. A keyboard is a instrument. Typing chinese a exact approach, there are ways for this. That is a software. I had a colleague decades ago who went to night time tuition; Tuesday night time, Thursday night time, two hours at any time when, practising at residence, she spent nine months, and she did not learn to style chinese. And one night we had a quandary. We had forty eight hours to provide a training guide in chinese. And he or she acquired the job, and i can warranty you in 48 hours, she learned to sort chinese given that it was once crucial, it used to be significant, it was once major, she used to be making use of a instrument to create value. So the second precept for learning a language is to use your language as a tool to be in contact right from day one. As a kid does. Once I first arrived in China, I didn’t converse a phrase of chinese, and on my 2d week, I received to take a coach journey overnight. I spent eight hours sitting within the eating vehicle talking to one of the crucial guards on the coach, he took an interest in me for some purpose, and we simply chatted all night in chinese language and he was drawing graphics and making movements together with his palms and facial expressions and piece with the aid of piece by piece I understood more and more. But what was once particularly cool, was two weeks later, when individuals have been speakme chinese round me, I used to be figuring out some of this and i hadn’t even made any effort to study that. What had occurred, i would absorbed it that night time on the teach, which brings us to the 1/3 principle. Whilst you first comprehend the message, then you will acquire the language unconsciously. And this is particularly, relatively good documented now, it’s whatever referred to as understandable input. There may be 20 or 30 years of research on this, Stephen Krashen, a chief in the subject, has released all kinds of these extraordinary studies and that is just from one in all them. The purple bars exhibit the rankings on one of a kind assessments for language. The red folks were persons who had realized by means of grammar and formal study, the golf green ones are the ones who realized by way of comprehensible input. So, comprehension works. Comprehension is vital and language finding out just isn’t about collecting tons of skills. In many, many approaches it is about physiological coaching. A lady i know from Taiwan did quality in English at university, she bought A grades all the way by means of, went by means of university, A grades, went to the USA and discovered she couldn’t comprehend what persons were saying. And folks began asking her: "Are you deaf?" and he or she was once. English deaf. Due to the fact we have now filters in our brain that filter in the sounds that we are acquainted with they usually filter the sounds of languages that we’re no longer. And if you cannot hear it, you is not going to realise it, for those who are not able to comprehend it, you are not going to study it. So that you surely need to be able to listen to these sounds. And there are ways to do that nevertheless it’s physiological coaching. Speakme takes muscle. You could have obtained 43 muscle groups to your face, you ought to coordinate these in a way that you make sounds that different individuals will realise. In case you’ve ever done a brand new recreation for a few days, and you know how your body feels? Hurts? If your face is hurting, you’re doing it proper. And the final principle is state. Psycho-physiological state. If you are unhappy, angry, concerned, upset, you are now not going to learn. Interval. If you are happy, cozy, in an Alpha mind state, curious, you’re going to be taught quite speedily, and very mainly you need to be tolerant of ambiguity. If you are a type of folks who wishes to comprehend one hundred percentage each phrase you’re listening to, you’re going to go nuts, on the grounds that you can be highly upset all the time, due to the fact that you’re not best. If you are at ease with getting some, no longer getting some, just paying awareness to what you do have an understanding of, you are going to be satisfactory, comfy, and you can be finding out speedily. So founded on those five standards, what are the seven moves that you are taking? Quantity one: pay attention a lot. I name it mind soaking. You set your self in a context the place you’re hearing lots and tons and tons of a language and it isn’t important should you recognize it or not. You’re being attentive to the rhythms, to patterns that repeat, you’re paying attention to matters that stand out.(chinese) Po nozi. (English) So, simply soak your mind on this. The 2d motion is that you simply get the which means first, even before you get the words. You go: "well how do I do that? I do not know the phrases!" well, you realise what these distinct postures mean. Human conversation is physique language in lots of, many methods, so much body language. From physique language that you would be able to recognize quite a lot of conversation, for that reason, you are figuring out, you’re acquiring by way of comprehensible input. And you could also use patterns that you recognize. If you are a chinese language speaker of Mandarin and Cantonese and you go to Vietnam, you’re going to comprehend 60 percent of what they are saying to you in everyday dialog, on account that Vietnamese is set 30 percent Mandarin, 30 percent Cantonese. The 0.33 action: mixing. You most commonly have on no account thought of this however should you’ve bought 10 verbs, 10 nouns and 10 adjectives, that you would be able to say one thousand different things. Language is a inventive process. What do infants do? Good enough, "me", "bathtub", "now". Good enough, that is how they keep in touch. So mixing, get inventive, have fun with it, it would not ought to be excellent, just has to work. And when you are doing this, you focus on the core. What does that mean? Good, any language is excessive frequency content. In English one thousand phrases covers eighty five percent of some thing you are ever going to assert in daily communique. 3000 words gives you ninety eight percent of whatever you are going to say in daily dialog. You obtained 3000 words, you’re speaking the language. The leisure is icing on the cake. And when you’re simply beginning with a new language, start with your device box. Week quantity one, to your new language you say matters like: "How do you say that?" "i don’t have an understanding of," "repeat that please," "what does that mean?" all to your target language. You’re utilising it as a device, making it valuable to you, it is important to be trained different things in regards to the language. By way of week two, you must be announcing matters like: "me," "this," "you," "that," "give," you know, "hot," simple pronouns, easy nouns, simple verbs, simple adjectives, speaking like a baby. And through the 1/3 or fourth week, you’re entering "glue words." "even though," "however," "thus," these are logical transformers that tie bits of a language collectively, enabling you to make extra elaborate that means. At that factor you are speakme. And when you’re doing that, you will have to get yourself a language parent. Should you appear at how kids and dad and mom engage, you can realise what this implies. When a little one is speakme, it’ll be utilising simple words, simple combos, mostly relatively strange, regularly very unusual pronunciation, other people from external the loved ones do not have an understanding of it. But the mothers and fathers do. And so the child has a secure environment, will get self belief. The dad and mom speak to the youngsters with body language and with simple language they comprehend the little one understands. So you might have a comprehensible input atmosphere that’s safe, we realize it works; otherwise none of you may speak your mother tongue. So that you get your self a language father or mother, who’s somebody concerned with you as a man or woman who will keep in touch with you pretty much as an equal, however pay concentration to support you fully grasp the message. There are 4 ideas of a language parent. Spouses aren’t very good at this, adequate? However the 4 principles are, initially, they are going to work hard to realise what you mean even when you’re way off beat. Secondly, they’re going to in no way correct your mistakes. Thirdly, they are going to feed again their understanding of what you might be saying so to respond correctly and get that suggestions and then they’re going to use words that you know. The sixth factor you have got to do, is reproduction the face. You obtained to get the muscle tissues working right, so which you could sound in a technique that individuals will comprehend you. There may be a couple of matters you do. One is that you hear the way it feels, and consider the way it sounds this means that you have a suggestions loop operating to your face, however ideally if that you may seem at a native speaker and simply observe how they use their face, let your unconscious intellect soak up the principles, then you are going to be competent to opt for it up.And if you are not able to get a local speaker to appear at, you can use stuff like this… (female voice) Sing, music, king, stung, hung. (Chris Lonsdale) And the final thought right here, the final action you have got to take is some thing that I call "direct join". What does this mean? Good most men and women studying a second language style of take the mother tongue words and the target words and go over them over and over of their intellect to try and recall them. Particularly inefficient. What you have to do is recognize that everything you realize is an image within your intellect, it can be emotions, in case you speak about hearth, you can smell the smoke, that you would be able to hear the crackling, you will see the flames, so what you do, is you go into that imagery and all of that reminiscence and you come out with an additional pathway. So I name it "same field, distinct course". You come out of that pathway and also you construct it over time, you become more and more skilled at simply connecting the new sounds to these graphics that you have already got, into that inner representation. And over time you even come to be naturally good at that approach, that becomes unconscious. So, there are five ideas that you need to work with, seven moves, in case you do any of them, you’re going to fortify. And don’t forget these are matters beneath your control as the learner. Do them all and you’re going to be fluent in a 2nd language in six months. Thanks. (Applause) .

"even though," "however," "thus," these are logical transformers that tie bits of a language collectively, enabling you to make extra elaborate that means. I just want to say that I don’t think ANY of the boys, from either group, would judge a girl(or guy or whatever) based on their belief system unless said person used it to their advantage and twisted the commandments or things in their holy book to suit their ideals. For example, the biggest one there is actually, the whole thing of “God hates fags” which other than the word “fag” is actually gross in itself(and in England is slang for cigarette so me too man I hate cigarettes too they stanky) but the statement is used by homophobic people who seem to entirely miss that the general idea of religion is to be good to others and accepting and kind. And I could go on a whole rant about that thought specifically, but I won’t. I’ll stay on track, for once.
They’d no doubt find certain aspects hard to deal with, if not of the same ideologies as you, such as the whole sex part I’d imagine. I’m not at all saying they would try and make you change your mind, they’d be respectful and not try to force you into anything if it went against your beliefs especially. But I feel that that would be the only kind of “issue” they’d really have.
Some of them may even try to learn along side you and experience church with you when they can. I think especially Rap Monster, I dunno I just feel like he’d appreciate the new perspective and thought process the most out of both groups being an intelligent person. Sure, he may not agree with everything but he’d listen to the religious point of view and maybe have a calm debate about it, careful not to offend anyone but just so he got the full idea of it all, if that makes sense?
The relationship itself would be basically the same as any non-religious relationship I’ve written about really except for the specific parts you mentioned. And like I said, the sex so they wouldn’t (or at least try not to) make sexual remarks or get too heavy handed with you.
All in all, I’d think they’d all be understanding and accepting of whatever your faith and ideologies are so long as no-one is hurt in the process, be that emotionally, physically or mentally.
In fact, I think anyone that wants to call themselves a decent human being would be accepting and understanding of faith but I guess that’s just one of my delusions.
I’m sorry I didn’t write a request for this but I just wanted to say that it would essentially be the same and they would treat you no different to any other girl(/guy/whatever you identify as).
Also, as someone who isn’t Christian and doesn’t put themselves into a religious category, I wouldn’t feel right writing about the religious activities in any kind of depth as I don’t know anything about it and wouldn’t want to write it incorrectly or in a potentially offensive way. I hope you understand.
I appreciate the request, all the same, it was interesting to write something other than scenarios like this. Thinking on a deeper level than usual so, thank you very much, my friend.
I’d be happy to have more discussions about deeper matters if anyone wants to talk non k-pop too, that’d be chill af with me famalam
Also, I apologise if this is really repetitive and not coherently formed, I tend to lack the ability to think things through and my hands often work faster than my mind, or is it the other way?? but either way, my thoughts and speech/writing doesn’t always match up great and sometimes winds up in a big mess. i hope it was at least understandable...

I've probably done this wrong. Figured I should give it a shot, at least. Since I did, you know, express enthusiasm.

I wanna see, uh, JoJo, Berserk and some others (Evangellion) but shit like that is all hella expensive and generally hard to obtain from where I am. To ramble: anime (and manga, too, I guess) has a courage of its conviction that I admire. Like, they'll take what can be a super-dumb concept and play it 110% sincere and earnest. And I love that.     Comics: Not really, no. Supergod was great, as was Black Summer. But generally I don't read comics.     Video Games: Too many to list. So, so many. Introvert or Extrovert? Introvert. I'd climb inside myself if I could.
Writing Habits Number/Names of WIPs: Oh. Lots. Lots and lots of short things spawned from a single idea and a handful of longer ones that I have lofty visions for but can never deliver on. For example, Cold Hard Hugs (the story about hugging robots), Proper Schooling (the story about, uh, many things in a school), Jessica Dresses Like a Dragon (the story about the girl who is actually a dragon, obviously), Snowblind (my NaNo about FAILURE and snow) and probably some others I've forgotten about. It's all rot. Favorite book about writing: I don't really have one... Planner, Pantser or Plantser? I don't plan for anything. Hell, I'm not even sure I can. I have a concept in my head and I mash it all together on page with no real plan. This is why I can't make anything of any significant length. Learn from my mistakes! Favorite Outlining Method: “QUICKLY WRITE DOWN THIS LINE BEFORE I FORGET IT” followed later by “What does this line mean? Who's saying it? Where does it go?”. Then string all these bits together into something that looks alright. Kick it out the door. Done. Do you write on a schedule or sporadically? Sporadically and constantly. Little bits here and there. The drip that wears away a mountain. Or something. I don't know. Any creativity rituals that you use: Is it after midnight? Do you have to go to sleep? About time to start writing.

Dry Fasting: Is It Worth It?
Today’s post is about dry fasting. I’ve covered plenty of other aspects of intermittent fasting, including recommendations around longer fasts, but lately I’ve gotten enough questions about this particular angle that I thought I’d address it.
Dry fasting is going without both food and fluid. That means no coffee, no tea, no broth, and no water or liquid of any kind (except the saliva you manage to produce). It’s an extreme type of fast whose fans and practitioners are adamant that it can resolve serious health issues. But does it? Is it safe? And what kind of research is available on it?
Where Does the Idea of Therapeutic Dry Fasting Come From?
The main proponent of dry fasting is a Russian doctor named Sergei Filonov. Filonov is still practicing from what I can tell, somewhere in the Altai mountains that span Central Asia. I found a very rough English translation of his book—Dry Medical Fasting: Myths and Realities. Difficult to read in full because it’s not a professional translation, but manageable in small chunks.
His basic thesis is that dry fasting creates a competitive environment between healthy cells, unhealthy cells, and pathogens for a scarce resource: water. The dry fast acts as a powerful selective pressure, allowing the strong cells to survive and the weak and dangerous cells to die off. The end result, according to Filonov, is that the immune system burns through the weak cells for energy and to conserve water for the viable cells, leading to a stronger organism overall. He points to how animals in nature will hole up in a safe, comfortable spot and take neither food nor water when recovering from serious conditions, illness, or injuries that prevent them from moving around. But when they’re able to move while recovering from more minor issues, they’ll drink water and abstain from food. I’m partial to this naturalistic line of thought, but I don’t know if the claims about animal behavior during sickness are true.
Another claim is that dry fasting speeds up fat loss relative to fasts that include water. There may be something to this, as body fat is actually a source of “metabolic water”—internal water the body can turn to when exogenous water is limited. Burning 100 grams of fat produces 110 grams of water, whereas burning the same amount of carbohydrate produces just 50 grams of water.
Are There Any Dry Fasting Studies?
Unfortunately, we don’t have many long term dry fasting studies. In fact, we have one 5-day study in healthy adults. For five days, ten healthy adults refrained from eating food or drinking water. Multiple physiological parameters were tracked daily, including bodyweight, kidney function, heart rate, electrolyte status, and circumference of the waist, hip, neck, and chest.
Participants lost weight (over 2 pounds a day) and inches off of various circumferences, including waist, hip, neck, and chest. The drop in waist circumference was particularly large—about eight centimeters by day five. Blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, sodium and potassium levels, creatinine, and urea all remained stable throughout the study. Creatinine clearance—which can be a marker of muscle breakdown but also a normal artifact of fasting—increased by up to 167%.
The most voluminous research we have on dry fasting is the Ramadan literature. During the month of Ramadan, practicing Muslims complete a daily dry fast—from sunup to sundown—every single day. They eat no food and drink no fluids during daylight hours, which, in the countries where Islam originally arose, run about 15-16 hours. These are shorter dry fasts than the 5-day fast detailed above.
What happens to health markers during Ramadan? Mostly good things.
Almost everyone loses body fat. Few lose muscle. There’s no sign of overt dehydration.
In fatty liver patients, Ramadan fasting lowers blood glucose, insulin levels, inflammatory markers.
In obese and overweight subjects, Ramadan fasting lowers inflammatory markers, body weight, and insulin resistance.
In obese adults, Ramadan fasting improves the lipid profile.
Athletic performance is compromised during Ramadan (like impaired maximal force production of the muscles), though not as much as you’d expect.
A 15- or 16- hour dry fast isn’t very extreme, even in the hot climates of the Near East. Two or three day-long dry fasts, particularly in hot weather, is another thing entirely. What works and is safe across 16 hours might not be safe or effective over three or four days.
I wonder if there’s a genetic component to dry fasting tolerance, too. Have populations who’ve spent thousands of years in hot, dry, desert-like climates developed greater genetic tolerance of periods without water? I find it likely, though I haven’t seen any genetic data one way or the other. It’s an interesting thing to ponder.
Is Dry Fasting Safe?
Obviously, skipping water can be dangerous. While we’ve seen people go without food for as long as a year (provided you have enough adipose tissue to burn, take vitamins and minerals, and are under medical supervision), going without water is a riskier proposal. The number I’ve always heard was three weeks without food, three days without water, though I’ve never really seen it substantiated or sourced.
One reason I’m skeptical of “three days” as a hard and fast rule is that most cases of people dying of dehydration occur in dire circumstances. People are lost out in the wilderness, hiking around in vain trying to find their way back to the trailhead. They’re thrown in jail after a night out drinking and forgotten by the guards for three days. They’re spending 24 hours dancing in a tent in the desert on multiple psychoactive drugs. These are extreme situations that really increase the need for water. Your water requirements will be much higher if you’re hiking around in hot weather bathing in stress-induced cortisol and adrenaline, or dancing hard for hours on end. Very rarely do we hear of people setting out to abstain from water on purpose for medical benefits, water on hand in case things go south, and ending up dehydrated. Part of the reason is that very few people are dry fasting, so the pool of potential evidence is miniscule. I imagine this last group will have more leeway.
Still, if you’re going to try dry fasting, you have to take some basic precautions.
6 Precautions To Take When Dry Fasting
1. Get Your Doctor’s Okay
Sure, most will be skeptical at best, but I’d still advise not skipping this step—particularly if you have a health condition or take any kind of medication. Diuretics (often used for blood pressure management), for one example, add another layer to this picture.
2. No Exercise
Avoid anything more intense than walking. For one, the hypohydration will predispose you to middling results, increasing cortisol and reducing testosterone. Two, the hypohydration may progress rapidly to dehydration. If you’re going to exercise during a dry fast, “break” the fast with water first and then train.
3. Keep It Brief
Yes, there was the 5-day study, but those people were being monitored by doctors every single day. I’d say 16-24 hours is a safe upper limit and probably provides most of the benefits (as Ramadan literature shows). Any longer, buyer beware. (And, of course, make sure you get fully hydrated in between any dry fasts you might do.)
4. Fast While You Sleep
Ramadan-style probably isn’t ideal from a pure physiological standpoint. The length (16 hours) is great, but the eating schedule is not. Those who observe Ramadan fasting ritual often wake up before sunrise to fit in food. They may stay up late to eat more. They go to sleep in a well-fed state, never quite taking advantage of the 8 hours of “free” fasting time sleep usually provides (and, of course, that’s not what their fasting practice is about). For a health-motivated dry fast, on the other hand, you should take advantage of it.
5. Take Weather Into Account
Hot, humid weather will generally cause the most water loss. Cold, dry weather will cause the least. Adjust your dry fasting duration accordingly.
6. Listen To Your Body
I’ve said this a million times, but it’s especially worth saying here. If you’re not feeling well during the dry fast, listen to your instinct rather than your agenda. (And don’t begin a dry fast when you’re ill. That should go without saying.) This is an optional tool. There are hundreds of other ways to serve your health and well-being. Don’t lose the forest through the trees because you’re drawn to a practice that feels more radical. Approach it smartly, but let your body’s intuition be the final arbiter.
That’s it for me. I haven’t done any dry fasting, not on purpose at least, and I’m not particularly interested in it for myself, but I am interested in your experiences. Do any of you do dry fasting? What have you noticed? What do you recommend?
As always, if you have any questions, direct them down below. Thanks for reading!

How a college meme group regained control after a hacker took it hostage
Tumblr media
It's Troll Week on Mashable. Join us as we explore the good, the bad, and the ugly of internet trolling.
Facebook meme groups are the lifeblood of modern college culture. For one school, a power struggle between a hacker and shitposters became a bonding experience for a whole student body.
If there's anything that this generation of young people can do without fail, it's shitposting. In an surprisingly nuanced entry on Urban Dictionary, a user defines shitpost as "any content on the internet whose humor derives from its surreal nature and/or its lack of clear context." Differing from memes in that a meme's humor "comes from its repeatability," a shitpost's humor stems from its tendency to ridicule a situation by making something out of nothing.
The art of shitposting is best exemplified in this bizarre saga of an Iraqi hacker bent on obtaining passports, a college meme group held hostage for incomprehensible demands, and the girl whose tenacity for trolling reclaimed it.

What does Addman want anyway?
Berklee College of Music in Boston is a small school whose social culture, like many smaller academic institutions, is strengthened by memes. Its seminal Facebook group, Overheard at Berklee, functioned as a town hall for students to poke fun at the administration, promote their work, and share the most ridiculous snippets of conversation they overheard on campus.
Brendan Cornish, a current Berklee student who provided the screenshots of the group's shenanigans, calls Overheard a "huge part" of the school's culture.
"It lets off-campus students like me feel like a part of the community, and it helps everyone develop a sense of Berklee identity," he said over Facebook Messenger. "It's fun to have a shared sense of humor in what feels like an in-group."
But in March 2017, that all changed when one of the admins' Facebook accounts was hacked.

Under the compromised account, the hacker was able to remove all of Overheard's admin and moderation team, and establish himself as the sole controller of the group. He quickly changed the group's name to "The Iraq virus was here" in Arabic, according to Google Translate.
"Having difficulty telling if this was a move by the White House to make us live in fear or not," one member posted in the group. "Sad reacts," another member posted.
"People were confused because it's mostly a meme page," Berklee alum and active Overheard member Alejandro told me over a video chat. He asked to only be referred to by his first name. "And naturally most of the responses were just people A: Being confused, B: Making memes about it, which became considerably easier with the first thing that Addman said."
In his first public statement in his new digital domain, he announced, "I.m hacker. And. Hacked the addman."

From then on, Overheard members referred to him as  "Addman" or in some cases, "The Addman."
"Next thing you know, it's just shitposts. Everywhere," Alejandro said. "The entire group is flooded with memes. Flooded with memes about this mysterious hacker, flooded with people sending screenshots of them messaging him, and the hacker occasionally responding."
As people tried to figure out what the fuck was going on in their group, they inundated Overheard with offers for free grams of weed, jokes about alerting WikiLeaks, and attempts at sending Addman mixtapes.
Then he revealed what he hacked the group for: "Photo passport." In return for "passport English," he promised to "give you drub."

That, of course, sparked a fresh wave of shitposts about what he meant by "drub." Some theorized that Addman had drastically misspelled "group," while others joked that he was offering drugs.
Students began coming up with conspiracy theories about Addman; some believed that it was an elaborate hoax by another Berklee student who was ambitiously trying to pull off the ultimate shitpost.
Sure that Addman was just another Berklee kid, Alejandro messaged the hacker.
"I thought it was fucking hilarious, I added the guy, sent him messages on Facebook," Alejandro said. "But I totally thought this was a fucking joke, and sent stuff to the guy. And then I went through the guy's profile and it had been there for a while. It was a real Iraqi guy."

How one girl tried to save it
Amid the chaos, Berklee student Emma — who we'll refer to only by her first name  — was concerned.
"I thought all of the memes that came out of it were funny," she said over Facebook Messenger. "But when he started deleting the other admins and changed the name I got a little worried. Everyone was just making light of this ridiculous situation."
She decided to take matters into her own hands, and messaged him: "Are you into kinky shit?"
"I figured nobody was going directly to the source of the memeage and I wanted to try my best to get the group back," Emma said.
Addman replied with his best attempt at sexting, messaging Emma gems like "Let's get your body up," and "Send me your picture in the bathroom to raise my appetite."
She replied with a photo of her foot haphazardly pointed in front of her shower. As Cornish writes in his Imgur album chronicling the wild chain of events, "it is still unclear if Addman's appetites were raised."

"I thought the whole thing was such a joke," Emma said. "It was probably 1 a.m. and I was laying in bed being a troll, lol."
Addman, however, was determined to get his passport. His demands were unclear; at one point, he posted, "Hi I want Facebook account creation date2005 ... I will give you the group."
His grasp on the English language also seemed to improve with every post. An hour after demanding a Facebook account from 2005, he posted, "Hello, I want personalized photo IDs and passports in exchange for that I will return to you to download personal IDs or passports in the comments."
Who wouldn't risk some lighthearted identity fraud for adminship to a Facebook meme group?
Undeterred by the threat of never getting Overheard back, Berklee students responded with an onslaught of shitposts. Running with the classic trope of ripping off young creatives, one member even offered to pay Addman in exposure.

"It's almost surreal," Alejandro said, still astonished that it all happened.
This whole situation is like a testament to shitposting itself. When presented with absurdism, why not respond with absurdism? If anything, the Overheard reaction to being hacked exemplifies the Millennial and Gen Z love for nihilistic humor — the world may be falling apart, but at least we can make jokes!
"This is just more new content," Alejandro agreed. "And new content lets you explore old memes and ideas that you couldn't before, so people are gonna jump on that immediately. It affected all of us because everyone's in that group, and it was so ripe for the picking."
"You saw all the regular Berklee joke subjects brought up, but adapted to the situation," Cornish concurred. "No one missed a beat."
Addman shuts it down
But Addman wasn't as entertained. He archived the group eight days after triumphantly gaining control, perhaps after being the target of constant trolling. Berklee kids made another Overheard group, but according to Emma, it "wasn't the same."

"There were thousands of members in the in the original group," she said. "Alumni, current students, and even some staff. We didn't want to lose that as a community."
Although many former members resigned themselves to the new Overheard group, Emma was determined to regain control. While filling in friends who were out of the loop it hit her: They had to "give one last shot of getting the old group back." She redoubled on her efforts to message Addman, attempting to harangue him into making her an admin.
"He kept pushing for me to take off my clothes and send him pictures, but I wasn't having it so kept being like, 'Maybe after you do ME a favor and make me an admin with you," she said.
One of the friends who resolved to win back the group with her made a collage of Addman's best attempts at sexting. Gems include, "I have brought my head into my confusion," and "I am now a young man in your blades."

Emma played along — when he messaged her, "I want your body," she replied with: "I need your body, as long as you got me, you don't need nobody."
Berklee vs. Berkeley
It seemed like Addman, like many people, confused Berklee for the larger, more well-known University of California, Berkeley. That mix up in itself is a meme within the Berklee community — at the beginning of every summer, incoming Berklee freshmen try to join the UC Berkeley Facebook group, Emma explained.
Knowing that Addman was clueless about what school he was hacking made it infinitely more funny. In the end, it wasn't the sexting or the shower foot photo that got Addman to relinquish. Instead, Emma promised to add him to an actual UC Berkeley Facebook group.
"Music school breeds some trolls," she said.
In September 2017, months after declaring Overheard Berklee his, Addman made Emma an admin. She unarchived the group, restoring balance to the school's culture.
"Thanks four addind my love Emma," Addman posted in UC Berkeley's Class of 2019 group after she added him, passing him off to another college Facebook group to deal with.
Although Addman promptly unfriended everyone from Berklee and left Overheard, his reputation and impact on the school's lore lives on.
"You could almost do a BC and AD split with before Addman and after," Cornish reflected. "The whole thing kept me up until 4 a.m. that night, and whether this is pathetic or not, was one of my most fun Berklee memories."
Who was Addman anyway?
There's something beautiful about how cemented college social interactions are in meme culture; no matter how cliquey or divisive a class may be, an opportunity to make memes will bring them together in a way that administration-sponsored orientation events can't. On a larger scale, it hints at just how sardonic this generation is. Who can resist a good shitpost, even in times of crisis?
More than a year after the incident, Overheard at Berklee and its spinoff group have been untouched by foreign hackers in search of passports. But one question still lingers: Who was trolling who? Was Addman the real puppet master in all of this, playing the Berklee kids like marionettes?
"I don't know how in on the joke he was," Alejandro wondered about Addman. "I don't know if he was serious, or if he was doing this just to fuck with some dumb college students? I don't know if he was just trying to have a laugh."
Addman appears to be living his best life as well — in May, he changed his profile picture to a saturated selfie of him wearing a snazzy maroon vest. But he hasn't stopped in quest for passports. When I messaged him for a comment on this story, he responded in typical Addman fashion.
"Do you want to group," he asked. "I want to get a passport and return you svez group."
