Tachy and I have been talking again (well, more like scheming) and this doodle was inspired by it.

Eda's a single father of four now, due to Record not existing in Animated.
From left to right we have the holoforms of Phoenix, Galen, Flinch and Polaris.
(Eda's @tachyon-omlette's character.)

Also, extra doodle of a roadtrip gone wrong.

Featuring @genesisorionix22's Sandman as the map reader.

If Luz Were Into Vocaloid Headcanons 🎤 💙 🎤 💙
🎤 Original headcanons 💙
💙 Ao3 version 🎤
(This is season 1 Luz btw.)
• We all know that Miku would be her favorite! 🎤💙
• Being a huge nerd, Luz would make amvs, run blogs, write fanfics, draw ship art (Miku x Len and Miku x Luka are her favs), as well as general fan art all dedicated to the characters.
• She plays “World is Mine” in the car and loudly sings along to it as her mom drives her to school. During the entire ride, Camila was confused.
• The song “Po Pi Po” is set as her ringtone.
• At school, she cosplayed as Miku.
• She would make Vocaloid references that no one in her school would get.
• She’s been to a bunch of Vocaloid concerts before.
• When Luz introduces Vocaloid to Willow and Gus, they automatically love it! Who wouldn’t love fictional humans who have cool hair colors, big eyes, and computerized voices!
• When Luz introduces it to Amity, she thinks the whole Vocaloid thing is okay. I mean, it’s not like she's made her own self insert oc and shipped her with Miku and Gumi or anything.
• Luz wants to do an English cover of the song “Magnet” with Amity. When Amity views the English lyrics to the song, her face goes red, but she’s willing to give the singing thing a try, so as long as no one can hear them.
• When Luz introduces Vocaloid to King, he’s not really that into it. However, after listening to an hour of songs and watching a couple of videos, he soon starts to like it. His favorite “android human” is Len or “banana boy” as he likes to call him.
• When Luz introduces it to Eda, it doesn’t interest the owl lady, but she will admit that she does like the look of the woman with the red sleeveless jacket (aka Meiko). She’s got that sort of sassy, rebellious, fun aunt/mom vibe that Eda loves.
• Luz throws a karaoke party at the Owl House and invites Willow, Gus, and Amity there. Being that the party is vocaloid-themed, how it works is that one or two people will get up on the fake cardboard stage and sing a song while the others in the audience cheer them on using glow sticks (sort of like a real Vocaloid concert). The only ones who are dressed up are Luz (who’s cosplaying as Miku) and King (Who’s cosplaying as Len. Luz made the outfit for him and even stitched up a little Rin plushie to go along with it). Everyone has a blast at the party! Hooty even gets the chance to sing a couple of songs.

Another Saturday, another episode! Let's take a look at Keeping Up A-fear-ances!
(Good lord I'm starting to make myself sound like some sort of content creator)
Oh, okay, we're just starting at that level of intensity, huh?
Chest gem origins
Gwendolyn not being satisfied with managing the curse and determined to cure it? I'm sure this won't be a real world allegory in the slightest.
Oh, so Eda literally just stumbles upon the portal? I could call that contrived, but honestly it's not dissimilar to how Dipper found Journal 3. For that matter, the entirety of Lord of the Rings is predicated on an accidental discovery like this and nobody gave Tolkien shit about it.
Was the eye on the portal cracked in previous episodes? I don't remember.
Seems like Gwen is the "well-meaning but ultimately misguided" flavor of mom.
As an aside, I am now quite curious about how Eda's first trip to the human realm went. Maybe a future episode will cover it? At any rate, I smell a new favorite fic prompt.
The screaming alarms in the Demon Realm will never not be funny to me.
Also, that is a worrying number of hearts. Eda is straight up murdering these poor creatures.
For some reason the gold fang being removable never occurred to me as a possibility, and now I feel like a kid who's discovered that Santa isn't real.
Oh hey, the new outfit! I'm also impressed how close to symmetrical that tearing was.
I need to get a screencap of Luz sleeping on that stack of books because she is adorable.
Also, staying up all night researching? This season seems determined to completely eradicate the notion of Luz being dumb, and I am here for it.
I have a feeling the Hexside mug will be making its way to The Mystery Shack in the near future.
Lilith's first experience with transformation and she seems understandably horrified.
The curse acting stronger when stressed? That seems...important.
Ah, so the dismemberment is from the curse! A surprisingly useful side effect from what we've seen so far.
Can I just say that I appreciate how Eda's reaction to Lilith's first taste of transformation is immediate remedy, explanation, and reassurance? And doesn't make any snarky comments along the lines of "now you know what it's like?" Whatever happened in that week and a half must have been cathartic as hell.
"Always. Always curious." Luz is the TOH fandom.
(Also, Eda, you know she is, considering how much she went on about your "mysterious past" at the Covention)
"Magic bird tornado?!" Luz has a way with words that's just *chef's kiss*.
"Gwendolyn." Eda is already just fucking done.
"MOM?!?!" Jeez, Lilith, you're just now hearing all this?
I was charmed by how motherly Gwen was acting toward Eda, but then she kinda just...dismissed Lilith, and now I'm somehwat less charmed.
(Sweet flea as a term of endearment is kinda cute, though might have some unfortunate implications depending on how you want to interpret it)
"Who knows what they put in those nasty concoctions?" OH WE GOING FOR THE ANTI-VAXXERS NOW YESSSS
Luz and Lilith's reaction to that whole exchange is priceless.
Everyone's perspective here makes perfect sense for who they are and what they've been through.
Poor Lilith. Her cursing Eda is beginning to make more sense.
Ah, thus begins the collaboration.
"We'll be consulting someone very special." Why does that seem so...ominous?
Is there anyone who watched this episode for the first time whose bullshit detector didn't go off immediately when Gwen mentioned finding someone who promised a cure?
Heh, Palm Stings.
Nonbelievers will be blinded by the power of the tome? I'm sure they will be, Wartlop.
I must say, as something of a scientist myself (okay that's not true, I'm a QA tech for a food manufacturer, but I do have a chemistry degree), I am 100% here for the swings being taken at faith healing/"miracle" cures/anti-vaxxers in this episode
Oh, we Wile E. Coyote now, huh?
Also, interesting how much apple blood is being played up in this episode.
Lilith please you're projecting your mommy issues on a literal child
OH WE REALLY JUST WILE E. COYOTE HUH?
You're right, Luz, Gwen's bicep game is goals.
(Somewhat disappointed the scars are from questing and not beastkeeping, but eh)
Why do I get the feeling there's gonna be a future episode where everybody stages an intervention for Eda's apple blood problem?
"Those feathers mean we're driving the beast out" Gwen no
Hooty is holding the brain cell? Oh no...
If that ice cream came from the Night Market it would explain why Lilith sounds drunk.
(Side note: I can't be the only one getting flashbacks to Mermista's ice cream binge, right? Different context, but still)
"Abomi-berry" "Franken fruit" "Key slime pie" These are A+ flavor names.
Oh, there's the transformation...
I must say that whole segment kinda rubbed me the wrong way. The way King's opinion on his dad was changed seemed...I don't know how to describe it. I get that they needed a trigger for Lilith's transformation, but honestly if any part of the episode is contrived it's this.
"¡It really is that good!" So that's what an accent slip in written form looks like. (The upside down exclamation point is used in Spanish, in case anyone didn't know)
I keep half expecting Eda to say "Beep! Beep!" at this point.
Luz is finally asking questions. Took long enough.
Ah, the classic "moving the goal posts to extract more money from a desparate family member" technique.
Luz channeling Scorpion, we love to see it.
There is an exquisite irony in Eda's mom being scammed, I must say.
Ah, so that's where the elixirs went. Dammit, Gwen.
Luz is definitely thinking "Are you fucking kidding me right now?!"
Beast!Lilith is massive.
"Sweet flea?" Gwen just realized she done goofed.
"I can see you still need a little time." God Luz is so fucking smart.
The con revealed.
OH DAMN SCARY MAMA
(Also I am terrified of bees/wasps, so extra scary mama in my book)
The scam is revealed, goblins, getting back into the Wartlop disguise is kinda pointless.
She joined the Beast Keeping coven entirely to cure the curse? That's dedication. A shame you couldn't have spared some of that for Lilith.
Still, I do like badass scary mama Gwen. I'd be down to see more of that.
Owl Beast fight!
I am slayed by the fact that the portraits are now officially a recurring gag 😂
Aw, here's The Moment™️
"My turn to drive" Does this imply cars are a thing on the Boiling Isles after all?
Lilith crying almost immediately💔 She was holding onto a lot of pain.
Yes, King, she was trying to do her best. I mean, road to hell or whatever, but at least Gwen got there in the end.
WHAT?! YOU'RE BREAKING UP LULU AND HOOTCIFER?!?!?!?
Terrace, that's just cruel. (Worthless brownie points for whoever understands that reference)
No, seriously, you can't just give me my favorite inter-character relationship in the series after Lumity and just...take it away like that, come on! 😭😭😭😭😭😭
I know I should remark on how Lilith told Gwen about the circumstances of the curse, how Gwen rightfully accepted responsibility for the whole situation, and how Luz finds the big hair aspirational, but...NOOOO DON'T END THE ADVENTURES OF LULU AND HOOTCIFER WHYYYYYYYYY💔😭💔😭💔😭
"BUT I CAN'T HOLD A PEN!"
I will never emotionally recover from this.
Okay, I think I got that out of my system. Anyway...
Not the only human, huh? Cue the "Belos is a human" theorists going into maximum overdrive.
That said, a tantalizing lore dump.
We certainly do have a lot of garbage. Some of it even holds office. HEY-O!
Setting up the next episode, too. Continuity!
Camp's over, huh? That means it's been three months.
Way to misdirect with Camila, guys. That said, we have now seen Camila cry and I HATE it. (In the right way, I think)
WHAT THE FUCK
HOLY SHIT
CREEPY LUZ IS REAL WHAT
OWJEIWHQGIWWOPQ
(It's hard to keysmash on a phone, even with autocorrect off)
That wraps it up! The flaws in this episode seem more pronounced than any others in the season so far, but the good stuff was really good! Overall a solid episode! I know everybody's looking forward to library Lumity in the next one (so am I), but I'm personally eager to see what they do with Gus. His part is the A plot, after all.
Anyway, I'll be back at this next week! Still hard to believe this is a thing, but that's life, I guess.

would u. i dunno. perhaps articulate some thots on toh infinity train au 😳 if u can
HM. i will do my best. but...i dont really know how to organize my thoughts. i guess i should probably just start with the characters and go from there, huh. also in this particular au these characters don’t actually take the place of tulip, lake, jesse, grace, etc- i think they’re all just there under different circumstances.
Luz
okay so we’ll start with Luz because. she’s the main character, y’know. very important. i think the catalyst that brings her to the train is her mother signing her up for Reality Check summer camp because as a creative it’s just! disheartening to have someone you love tell you that you’re not going to make it in this world if you don’t conform to what everyone else wants. so of course when a huge mysterious locomotive suddenly pulls up to the bus stop you KNOW luz gets on, no hesitation. after all, isn’t that something right out of a sci-fi adventure novel?
unlike tulip, luz is THRILLED to find herself on some unknowable train where each car is a new adventure just waiting to happen, where there are always new friends to make, new places to see, and tons of puzzles to solve? she’s made to feel like the protagonist right out one of her fave animes.
also, really important to note that her number is probably tied to how she relates to the other passengers on the train. i feel like there’s an overarching theme in the show about how luz is going through a lot of firsts when it comes to interpersonal relationships, especially friendships, so i wanted to keep that going in this au- i imagine her number goes up when she finds her friends tapes and convinces them to watch with her because this is obviously the easiest and most straightforward way to get to know them! (luz poppin that bad boy into a vcr player: this mama is ready for trauma!)
realized how wordy this is going to be LOL
Eda
hough so this is a human au also (i assume? infinity train world really do be existing in some limbo state of reality where your reflection can just up and ditch you). i see her as a jack of all trades, master of none type, with a lean towards perfumes and handmade soaps that she sells at fairs or farmers markets and also pickpocketing. i think she sees something that reminds her of the life she used to have/would have had before lilith [redacted because i do not know what she DID yet but on GOD we will have canon continuity] and that drives her to get on the next train headed anywhere.
her number is tied to how much she allows herself to open up; the more she uses her salesman cover to keep others at arms length, the higher her number goes, which is why it’s so important for her to team up with King and Luz; they help her open up and be more honest with herself.
King
king is actually a denizen of the train in this au; i love him too much to turn him into a real ass dog, so i wont. eda meets him in a car full of plush toys, which he refers to lovingly as his army of the damned. i almost want to hold off on writing up any more for him because i know there’s more to king’s character than meets the eye. still torn between eda trying to bring him off the train with her or having him realize that the whole TRAIN is HIS KINGDOM, and all its passengers loyal peons who need their mighty rulers HELP, for without him they would PERISH.
for now though eda sees him and is immediately like get over here (reaching emoji)
Willow
willow is a tough one for me because in all honesty having your longtime friend tell you out of the blue that they can’t be friends with you anymore would be enough to send me packing to the train, but with willow i think it’s less about amity and more about how the fallout between them affects her social and academic success. the frustration reaches a tipping point that has her running out of the classroom and finding the train.
and yes, willow is a very sensible, bright girl, but she was also SO ready to trick the principle and steal from the emperor for her friend so i don’t think getting on a mystery train is wholly out of the question for her, y’know?
There’s a lot about repression in the way willow deals with things generally, so her number is tied to passivity. the more she allows others to infringe on her personal boundaries to keep them placated, the higher her number goes. when she stands up for herself to others (sometimes even her friends!) the number goes up. willow x agency and clear limitations is my otp
Gus
gus was actually a SUPER easy one for me we know so much about him from the episodes he’s been in; he’s an overachiever, he’s passionate about what he loves, he’s a natural showman, and he is constantly pushing himself to be the best that he can be, all the time. the hustle doesn’t STOP for gus, and i...i...(tears up)
anyways, i think the thing that draws him to the train is getting suddenly ousted from the club he formed at school. he’s young, and having everyone you had assumed were your friends turn their back on you and throw you out of the space that you CREATED FOR THEM would be shocking to anyone, but it broke gus’ heart clean in two. after he’d picked his bag and himself up off the hallway floor, he’d left the building in a daze, not even realizing as he boarded the train door that had suddenly opened up in front of him until it was too late.
i’m actually going to go so far as to say that gus would likely be the one MOST interested in the truth of the train- he’d be asking the tough questions, like what is the purpose of the train? who made it and its technology? where does it exist that it can be both at his school and also speeding across a barren desert landscape at the same time? How does it create sentient lifeforms? the train helps him discover a new passion; journalism. he finds a journal that speaks to him as a friend and advisor in one of the trains, and he takes careful note of everything that happens to and around him. by the time he meets up with willow, he’s got so many ideas and theories that the other girl would have never thought to consider until that very moment.
idk what his number relates to because he’s perfect the way he is but if i had to take a shot in the dark it probably has something to do with finding somewhere he feels he can belong, as well as being able to mourn and let go of the people he’d considered his friends before he’d gotten on the train.
sorry this is so long i just have a lot of . gus feelings.
Amity ( + Edric + Emira )
lumping these whites together
okay so nobody wants to hear me talk about blight angst there are 800 posts about blight angst, so long story short the three siblings run away, get into an argument with each other, amity ditches them for the train while they’re asleep, and the twins panic and chase after her, determined to find her because in the end they’re all they’ve got.
‘next stop: amity blight’
i think it’d be a cool journey to see the three of them going from ‘we need to be together out of necessity’ to ‘we need to be together because we love each other, and that genuine support structure will pull us through when everything else fails.’ but in order for that to happen they all have to have their own journey, so at some point edric and emira finally get into a spat and that’s enough to get edric and emira stuck on opposite ends of a retracting bridge. send that mans to the BACK of the train.
emira: my greatest fear is being stuck with edric forever emira: (gets separated from edric) emira: haha wait please say psyche
amity’s number is definitely tied to her fear of failure, of not being enough for the people she holds closest to her- in this case her siblings, and then lilith, and then luz when they finally meet. when she acts without concern for what the people around her think and when she sticks up for what she knows is right, even when the majority is against her, her number goes down.
for ed and em im...i don’t want to think about their feelings because they’re supposed to be clowns but i am forced to consider that they may be jealous of their sisters independence. also separating them means they both have to take responsibility for all their own actions and choices, which is probably pretty new for the twins.
Lilith
im out of energy actually znzzzsnsz uh. estranged sister who sees something that reminds her of the relationship she used to have and she’s not actually as over it as she thought so the train....she..hghrg

Hi! Your thoughts on the epi? How emotional was the ending? I also loved that the stories came full circle (Apollo and the little prince). With how much they were discussing the strawberry allergy, I knew it was a matter of time before an allergic reaction emergency would occur. Serkan is not perfect but honestly who's parents are? I'm glad he got the reassurance he needed from both Eda and Kiraz. I'm also glad the truth about Aydan and Kemal's five year relationship is out to Serkan.
My apologies in taking so long to answer this, but LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. For me, this was a very gentle, but very enjoyable episode of television. I think you'd have to go back to season one episodes 4,5,6 to find three episodes in a row that were as good as 43, 44, 45 (coincidentally episode 4,5,6 of the 2nd season). How delightful that cliffhangers in season 2 are emotional plot points for our dynamic duo, instead of the nonsense like falling off of boats or getting caught by a gunman while playing detective, or non-stop, third-party psycho trauma like we endured during 29-38.
The ending was very emotional! As you say, it was always a matter of time before the strawberry allergy played a role, they've mentioned it too many times this season for it not too. Here it played two roles, first putting Kiraz's life in danger thus cementing their burgeoning family unit AND being the genetic tie between three previously hidden generations. Potent stuff.
I was thrilled by all the domestic Edser in this episode. Outdoors, kitchen, living room, bedroom, kid's room, we got it all! I just loved the family time, and the sexual tension and the way they grew closer throughout the episode. I saw some criticism that they made no progress in this episode, but I disagree with that. Just because they didn't make out or have sex, doesn't mean they didn't progress. In this episode they went from being on opposite sides of a custody battle to agreeing to buy a car together, travel together, work together, not to mention having a romantic dinner together.
So buckets of progress was made, however, more on that later, first the supporting characters...
(more under the cut)
What a relief to have both Eda and Serkan treating Aydan and Ayfer as the meddling interlopers they are! Serkan wordless, furious glares were delicious, seriously I don't know how AA had the courage to stay in the house with him looking at them like that, he couldn't have been less welcoming. And Eda actually questioning her aunt about why she was there was a surprise. Of course Ayfer continues to be super punchable. I really, really wanted to hit her right in the face when she gloated over Kiraz calling him Serkan Bolat. Seriously, bitch? You know that's your grandniece, right? And you know that she must have some issues about her dad being absent from her life (which you are partially responsible for) so the fact that you're gloating that a man who was prevented from knowing he had a daughter (again, partially your fault) and a girl who was prevented from having a father (again, you bear some blame) have an emotional barrier in their relationship is beyond shitty. What happened to her personally that made her such a cynical asshole?
Aydan on the other hand is still annoying but she has her own problems, lmao. I'm dying because early in the day the episode aired, I said to both @echoapothecary and @melly326 that it was a shame that the show had decided to waste the potential of Sinan's resemblance to Kerem. I have been hoping they would do the Serkan father storyline since the moment the character was introduced, but the day I give up hope for it is the day it happens! I legit had no expectations that there was even a chance it could still happen.
Personally I'm excited, It's nice that the writers gave Aydan some cover, she didn't lie, she simply didn't remember they had hot baby-making sex back when she was having problems with Alptekin. Imagine what might have happened had she remembered at the time. If Aydan had come clean and left Alptekin, Serkan never would have been sent away, Aydan would have had the support she needed when Alp died and Serkan would have grown up loved. I hope Alptekin suspected the truth, because it would go a long way in explaining why he was such a shit-stain to Serkan his whole life.
It was obvious what direction the story was going from the conversation between Kemal and Aydan when he told her they'd "you know'd" that night, but I still let out a squeal when he revealed his strawberry allergy. Three generations of aversion to frangeria. Google tells me that severe strawberry allergy is rare so this really is an obvious flag they've been waving in front of everyone.
The story also dovetails nicely with Serkan's own journey with surprise fatherhood. We know he hasn't taken to Kemal, has been suspicious of him, however hopefully his own experience being kept out of his daughter's life will make him sympathetic to his newly found father.
Engin and Piril... were there. I can't tell you how much I don't care about Engin's out-of-the blue catering business, or Piril's suspicions. However, I did enjoy the 3 way family phone call, once again Can comes through with the right bit of info for Kiraz, he's definitely the most useful member of that family.
Pina and Kerem were also... in the episode. I did giggle when Asst Kerem admitted he was stunned into silence by Serkan's charisma. Tell me about it.
As for Melo, she stole the show among the supporting characters. Her heartbreak was palpable, but WHYYYYYYY did she have to fall for such a no-personality sad sack? Seriously, even drunk that guy is boring. Also why is he lurking outside Eda's house like a creeper, staring in windows? What does it take to get through to him? Serkan and Eda are following a court order and living together, they are in the process of making their first lunch together, you, sir, are not needed at their home for their first meal as a family. GIVE THEM SOME SPACE!
I really don't get what Melo sees in him. However her crush gave us the funny scenes with the mug turning red and also the heartfelt friendship scene with Eda. It's about time Eda is shown taking an interest in her life, it was really lovely how Melo got over the awkwardness of telling her and Eda was supportive and kind. Also hopefully it made Eda aware of the problems associated with not drawing hard boundaries for someone she knows has feelings for her. Draw the boundary, Eda.
As for Eda, she was a bit softer this episode, you could see Serkan getting to her. One of my favorite things about the episode was how Serkan was subtly planning their life together as a family, and Eda being swept away with the tide and going along with it. (gif set here) Family car? check. Family trip to Italy? Check. Sharing an office and working together at Art Life again? Check. Answering questions and giving preferences about one specific house Serkan is designing? Check.
This is significant because no matter that Eda still (understandably) needs time to forgive Serkan and to trust him with her (and Kiraz's) heart again, deep down she knows it's inevitable. She knows they're inevitable. There's no reason to seriously fight the inroads he's making into their life, because she knows he's going to succeed. In the deep recesses of her mind, she knows she's going to forgive him, and that they're going to be together, not just as co-parents to Kiraz, but as a very much in-love couple. However, she still needs a little time to get there. And that's okay. You don't erase five years of loneliness and heartbreak in a few days, nor should you try to. There's no reason for her to rush to let him back in her bed or into her heart, there's time for her to heal and for him to prove she can trust that he won't leave her again, even for noble reasons.
The bet was a clever way to extend their time living together. And I liked the detail that she was secretly so pleased to have him there, and still so attracted to him, but she knew she couldn't let him know because then it would be game over. He'd settle in and never leave. Not that I think she wants him to leave, she doesn't and that's what scares her. She clearly wants him, and wants him there, she got melty every time she looked at him with Kiraz, but she can hardly be blamed for needing to take it slow. That being said, while putting Kiraz to bed, I loved how Eda's plan to put Serkan on the hot seat completely backfired on her. Hee hee. She decided to tell Kiraz that they're being honest and to ask whatever she wants (that could have gone really wrong, by the way, if she asked if Daddy had really been in space) but daddy's-girl Kiraz immediately turns it back on Eda and wants to know if she loves Serkan Bolat and then sets them up in the same room. Good girl, Kiraz!
I immensely enjoyed the tension of Eda and Serkan sharing a room and sparring about which side they have to sleep on and OF COURSE they can only sleep facing one another. And OF COURSE Serkan migrated to the bed in the middle of the night. Funny how these two keep waking up all wrapped up in one another, almost like... they not only gravitate to one another, they also calm and comfort one another.
Once again, every scene between Edser and Kiraz was gold. I can't say enough how tiresome I usually find children on screen, but here I'm just delighted by her precociousness. Even her making a giant mess in the kitchen was endearing. As I said, I loved how much domestic Edser we got this episode. Them running around the kitchen with their daughter, having a flour fight? Pure delight. And I swear Maya Basol looks more like a mixture of Hande and Kerem than their own child would. It's simply uncanny.
Beyond their domestic scenes, it was lovely to see them both just falling back into a spot where their lives were intertwined. Loved Serkan driving her to work at the hotel, and then driving her home again when she quit. Not to mention how supportive he was, I'm not sure how she didn't either jump him right then and there or start crying in relief, when he was telling her she has the talent to be doing bigger more prestigious jobs and now that he was here to help she could do it. Eda's had support in raising Kiraz from Ayfer and Melo, but they really don't understand her career. Serkan understands. He is the life partner she's been missing.
Eda and Serkan seem to be on the same page as far as their families interference, being annoyed at both Ayfer and Aydan, I'm glad to see neither trying to defend mother/aunt to the other. Eda also seemed annoyed by Serkan moving his office to her house for the day, and she made several inferences, as she's been doing, about him putting work first. This is completely understandable, IMO. He left her on their wedding day for work, and he used "work is the most important thing to me" as the reason both times he broke her heart. Yes, after the fact, she found out that there were other, much bigger reasons and work was just the excuse, however that doesn't erase her deep-seated, pavlovian-like response she has to him seeming to prioritize work. She lived five years, raising their child alone, thinking he loved work more than her. It's completely natural that she's holding onto that for a bit. And it's okay if he needs to prove to her that he can prioritize her and Kiraz over work before she lets it go completely. I get it.
As I said, I enjoyed Serkan trying to trap her with the mood mug, that's the kind of gentle friction and comedy I'm here for. Of course he does catch her later on the phone admitting that she loves that he's there and it's game, set, match. For Serkan. I think we're all glad he won that bet. However, him removing his bed on the floor was a bold move and he pretty much deserved her locking him out after he did it. I read a lot ridiculous discourse on this, and my response is: you're taking this show too seriously again. This is a romcom move, it was done for comedy, and I promise you Serkan is able to fend for himself. If he didn't want to be kicked out, he shouldn't have tried to force his way into her bed again. Waaaaay presumptuous, man.
Buuuuut... how did Serkan get off the balcony? I don't know, but as I said he can fend for himself. Dude probably spent the night on the living room couch. Serkan's sneezing was cute, but being cold doesn't give you a cold. Maybe it's an allergy from too much time outdoors, lol. LOVED Serkan smoothly convincing Eda to come back to the office. If he'd approached that directly, it might have been a weeks long endeavor to get her to make ArtLife her office, but Serkan building the play school was genius! He never wastes time, that guy. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but this was impressive.
It warmed my heart how they fell so easily into working side by side. Casual conversations about what they were working on, and, you know, randomly deciding to go on a family trip to Italy with your estranged lover, as you do. Which all led to one of my favorite scenes... dinner! They got back to honest, open communication and it was lovely. Thankfully, Eda stopped letting him think she was running off to spend time with Burak and I adored Serkan coming clean and allowing himself to be vulnerable in admitting that he'd made the dinner for them and that he'd been upset when she didn't show. That's how you make progress. Just beautiful.
As for the "we need to all tell the truth" scene, that was silly, but if it gave us Aydan's secret being revealed I'm a-okay with it. About time! Buba was once again annoying and it was cathartic for Serkan to be able to tell him he doesn't like him. Same, Serkan. Seriously, can he and Ayfer fall in love and move to the country to run an Alpaca farm or something? The hospital scene was very poignant, I wrote more about it here. Now what I need is for Eda and Serkan to walk out of that hospital room and, out of relief, fall into the tightest hug. Crossing fingers!

Moonlit Masquerade: Mother of the Bride Pt 2
Luz laid on her back across the bed staring up at the ceiling of their bedroom and kicking her feet back and forth, just as she’d been doing for the last forty-five minutes. She tugged at her dark green blouse.
“Are you ready yet?” she asked finally, turning her head to look at Amity’s back as she stood in front of the mirror carefully applying eyeliner.
“Almost, be patient,” Amity mumbled distractedly and Luz sighed.
“You said that almost an hour ago,” she groaned, dragging her hands down her face. “It’s just dinner with my mom.”
Amity stops what she’s doing and whips around to face her.
“It is not JUST dinner with your mom, Luz, this is... this is dinner with your MOM!” she emphasizes, and Luz blinks at her.
“I’m pretty sure that’s exactly what I just said.” she frowned and Amity groaned, rubbing a temple.
“I know this isn’t a big deal to you, Luz, but it is to me. I’ve never met your mom and we’re getting married in five months. I want her to like me, I need her to like me!” Amity slapped a hand against her chest, and if she looks a little hysterical at the moment, Luz isn’t going to tell her so, but she does sit up and hop up off the bed to wrap her arms around Amity’s waist as she turns back to the mirror, propping her head on her shoulder.
“Amor, relax,” Luz soothed. “Mami will adore you, what could she possibly not love about you?” she asked, giving her a gentle squeeze.
“The whole not human thing might be a reason…,” Amity frowned, pushing a stray strand of long auburn hair behind one of her pointed ears, eyes flickering to look at it. Luz noticed her glance. “I just… can’t have your mom hate me too.” it’s barely a whisper under her breath but she hears and Luz’s heart clenches at the quiet words. God does she hate Odalia Blight.
“Hey, it’s going to be okay! Just because your mom is a pendejo doesn’t mean my mom isn’t going to love you!” She promises, squeezing her. Amity snorts at the word, grinning at her in the mirror. “She already knows you’re a witch, Amity, and I think your ears are cute,” she punctuates the statement by kissing the pointed appendage next to her face. Amity smiles, grabbing the hands wrapped around her waist. She hums as Luz’s kisses don’t stop there and start to trail away from her ear and down her neck and then her teeth are pressing into her skin and she jumps, she can’t suppress the sound that rises in her throat at that, which only encourages Luz. She already knows where this is going and needs to stop it and finish getting ready; needs to.
“Luz…,” she mumbles but doesn’t immediately pull away or tell her to stop.
“Hmm?” Luz hums distractedly.
“I need to finish getting ready, your mom is expecting us in twenty minutes…”
“That’s plenty of time…,” she mumbles
Amity can't help the burst of laughter at that and finally shoved her away, grinning
“No, it is not, and you know it! More importantly, I can not go and have dinner with your mother and look her in the face after having sex with you.”
“I could…,” she grumbles, crossing her arms and plopping back down on the bed. Amity rolled her eyes and turned back to the mirror, fixing her hair Luz had ruffled. Gold eyes narrowed and she leaned forward into the mirror. She could already see the dark spot forming on her neck.
“Luz!” she yelped, turning around to scowl at her. “Really?!” she frowned, gesturing to the spot appearing on her neck.
“Oops… sorry...” She grimaced.
Luz sat quietly on the bed, leaving her now irritated fiancée alone to cover the hickey forming on her neck with makeup.
“I’ll wait for you downstairs,” Luz said, as she hopped off the bed, Amity made a sound of acknowledgment in her throat.
Luz rubbed her hands together nervously as she walked into the kitchen where Lilith was sitting at the table, flipping through a book as Eda tried to coerce some vegetables into a pot of boiling water.
“She’s so nervous…,” she sighed, sitting at the table.
“Understandable, she’s meeting your mother for the first time just before the two of you get married.” Lilith looked up at her.
“Not to mention all the shit that went down with her own mother…,” Eda grunted.
“You mean the other day?” Luz looked over at her.
“I mean her whole life, Kid.” Eda frowned, making Luz sigh and run a hand through her hair.
“She’s been kinda down since she went to Blight Manor, and she still hasn’t heard from her dad, which is not helping,” Luz grumbled.
“You really think taking her to meet your mother is the best course of action?” Lilith asked, concern clear on her face. Luz nodded enthusiastically.
“For sure! I know she’s nervous, but I know Mami’s going to love her, maybe Odalia can’t see how amazing Amity is but I know my mother will!” Luz said confidently.
The sisters grinned at her.
“Here’s hoping it all goes well, Kid.” Eda raised her bottle of apple blood before taking a long drink, making Luz grin.
“Thanks, mom.”
“I’m sure your mother will clearly see what a lovely young woman Amity is,” Lilith agreed.
“Thanks, but, yeah. What’s not to love about Amity?” Luz asked rhetorically, maybe looking stupidly lovestruck as she says it, mostly to herself, but then Eda snorted, drawing her and Lilith’s gaze.
“Something to add, sister?” Lilith cocked a brow at her while Luz gave her a bewildered look.
“Oh, don’t look at me like that you two, you have to admit, there are some things that some people definitely wouldn’t love about her as much as you do, Luz. She does still have some of those… ‘Blight’ tendencies.” Eda waved a hand but Luz glared at her. “I love the kid, You know what I mean!”
“I do know what you mean, yeah, but please don’t say that to her!” Luz said sternly. “I know it and Amity knows it too, and she works hard every day to try and put all that crap her mom shoved down her throat as a kid behind her… it’s just hard, it’s automatic sometimes.” Luz frowned, drumming her fingers on the table.
“You are both right, of course,” Lilith finally said, setting her book aside. “Amity does have a tendency to be arrogant, condescending, and prideful,” she said, looking at Luz, who pursed her lips. “But she makes every effort to squash those tendencies her mother instilled in her, but years upon years of the same rhetoric can not quickly be undone.” She glanced at her sister, who grunted in answer.
“I was just saying, not everyone can see her for how she really is like you can, Luz.” Eda shrugged.
“I know, but I know my mother is gonna love her!” she asserted confidently.
A door upstairs closes and then there are footsteps on the stairs before Amity walks into the kitchen.
“I’m ready to go, Luz.” She looks at her.
“Great.” she smiled, jumping up. “See you guys later!” Luz called as she wrapped her arm around Amity’s and led her out of the house.
“Good luck!” Eda called.
Amity definitely seemed less irritated and just nervous now, smoothing imaginary wrinkles from her knee-length black dress as they walked out of the house and around back to the portal.
“You look wonderful, Amity.” Luz tried to soothe some of her nerves, squeezing her hand. Amity hummed, smiling at her, but Luz could see how nervous she was. “It’s going to be fine, I promise!”
"Right… fine." Amity nodded. "Oh, right…" she suddenly remembered and spun a finger and her ears glowed before appearing as rounded as Luz's.
"How's this?" she asked and Luz made a face. "What, do I not look human?"
"No, no you do… but I don't like it!” she whined. “You're not you!" Luz frowned, but Amity couldn't help but smile at that.
"Well, we don't want any other humans to see me right?"
"I mean, we're really not going very far, we won't even pass any other houses," Luz reasoned.
"Alright, alright." She smiled and undid the illusion. "Better?"
"Much." she nodded, smiling before she opened the door to the portal and gestured for Amity to step through.
This was something else she’d been nervous about, going to the human realm for the first time.
She stepped through and Luz followed. Amity looked around, it didn't look all that different from the Isles, just some woods, though the sounds and smells were different, her nose wrinkled at the strange, dirty smell in the air.
Luz closed the door behind them and took Amity's hand.
"Come on." Luz pulled her along through the wood. When they broke the tree line Amity stopped to stare in open wonder at the paved road and the cars driving by.
"Are those the 'cars' you've told me about?" she asked.
"Yeah! When we have a free day we'll come and I'll show you a bunch of stuff, we'll go to the movies or something fun like that," Luz promised. "For now, better go, don't need too many people staring at you." She pulled her transfixed fiancée along.
"Because of my ears?" Amity frowned, reaching up to touch one of her earrings with her free hand.
"Pfft, no, cuz you're so beautiful, duh." She grinned at her and Amity's cheek pinked. "Like I need to be getting into a fight with some human guy right before we have dinner with my mom…," Luz said making Amity chuckle.
"Of course." She rolled her eyes fondly.
She pulled them along to the house on the corner, just outside the woods.
"You weren't kidding when you said it wasn't far," Amity said, looking at the house.
"Mhmm. Ready?" Luz asked as they stood on the porch. Amity smoothed her hair and dress, much to Luz's silent amusement before finally nodding.
"I'm ready." She nodded.
Luz knocked and a few moments later the door swung open.
"¡Mija, estás aquí!" Camila smiled brightly, wrapping her daughter in a tight hug.
"¡Te dije que lo estaría!" She laughed before extracting herself from her mother's grip to set a hand on the small of Amity's back. Amity tensed, knowing what was coming.
"Amity, this my mother, Camila Noceda. Mami, this is my fiancée, Amity Blight," she introduced her with a bright grin.
Amity swallowed thickly as brown eyes, identical to Luz's, landed on her and she straightened.
Camila quickly glanced over her future daughter-in-law. The first thing she noticed was how tall she was, along with the pointed ears and those piercing gold eyes. Luz hadn’t been exaggerating when she said how beautiful Amity was, but she was shocked further by the words that then came out of her mouth.
"Es un placer conocerla, señora Noceda." Amity greeted, sticking her hand out, hoping she didn't still sound nervous in Spanish. Luz assured her her accent was near flawless these days, but she wasn't sure. They had spent all of yesterday conversing in Spanish so Amity could be sure she wasn’t forgetting anything.
Camila's eyes widened at that before she smiled brightly at her and grabbed her hand.
"It's so good to meet you!" Camila took her hand in both of hers. "You were right, Mija, she is beautiful." She smiled and Luz grinned, while Amity flushed. "Come in, come in." She motioned after releasing her and stepped to the side to allow them in.
Amity glanced around the cozy home as she followed Luz inside. Some of the furnishings were so different than she was accustomed to, while others like the couch and chairs were not. There was a strange, flat black rectangle hanging on the wall. She blinked at her reflection in it. Some kind of portal maybe?
Luz turned to see what she was looking at and grinned.
"That's a television. It's like a crystal ball," Luz explained and Amity hummed.
"Please, have a seat." Camila herded them to the couch and sat across from them in a chair. "They speak Espanol in the 'demon realm'?" Camila asked, looking at Luz.
"Oh, no," she laughed. "They only have English… well, and ancient demon chanting, though I’m not sure that counts…," she hummed, tapping her chin.
"I learned from Luz," Amity said.
"I'm surprised, Luz was never much of a teacher," Camila admitted, looking at her with a smirk. Luz pressed a hand to her chest over her heart and gasped in mock offense.
"Luz was a wonderful teacher," Amity defended and Luz smiled, reaching over to hold her hand between them. This doesn't go unnoticed by Camila.
"So it seems, your accent is impeccable." She smiled. "Luz told me a bit about you when she was here last, but I'm interested to learn more."
"Oh, What would you like to know?" She reached up and brushed some hair behind one of her ears, that right now she felt must be so very attention-grabbing. Was this how Luz always felt at home, glaringly out of place?"
"What do you do for a living?"
"Ah, right now, I spend most of my time acting as an advisor of sorts to the new council, it's really tedious, uninteresting stuff," she said.
"That's not true, what you do is super important, amor. The council is full of idiots who wouldn't have a clue without you and Lilith to tell them what to do. The Isles would be doomed without you." Luz quickly jumps in to defend her current daily work.
"There wouldn't even be a council without you kick-starting and fighting in the rebellion," Amity reminded her
"Luz talked about how there was rebellion, but she never mentioned fighting in it…" Camila turned her sharp gaze to her daughter.
"Oh… well…," Luz trailed off scratching the back of her head. "It wasn't much fighting," she mumbled.
"You lead multiple battles over two years," Amity unhelpfully reminded, unaware of the disapproving look her fiancée's mother is giving her daughter.
"I'm starving! When's dinner, Mami?" Luz quickly tries to change the subject.
"It should be done soon, but I'd like to hear more about these 'battles'," she says looking at Amity, who is only too happy to regale her mother with tales of, unfortunately, some of the rougher fights they'd had in the past, though they were the ones in which Luz had proven herself to be an intrepid and brave leader.
Luz suddenly realized how dangerous they all sound though as Amity tells them with pride to her mother, whose face is a mix of emotions over the course of the tales, which she knew of course, but it sounds that much worse watching her mother listen to the stories.
"That's… a lot to take in," Camila finally says, looking between the two of them, Luz grimaces.
"Every battle we fought was, unfortunately, necessary for the freedoms everyone now enjoys back home. Without Luz, I don't think it would have been possible…," Amity tells her.
Luz is embarrassed, the same way she always gets when people tell stories about her days in the rebellion, but Amity always tells the stories with such evident pride and admiration that it embarrasses her even as it warms her up inside. There are just as many stories of Amity diving headfirst into the middle of raging battles on her staff, drawing spell circles so fast it would make her dizzy watching, but everyone knows them, so Luz rarely gets the opportunity to praise her longtime girlfriend’s own valor. She makes a mental note to tell her mother Amity’s stories of heroism when she’s more comfortable with the idea, which judging by her face at the moment; is not now.
Her mother's expression is unreadable, but before she can say anything the oven timer goes off.
"Oh, the oven, excuse me," Camila says and stands disappearing into the kitchen.
"Please don't tell her any more stories about the rebellion!" Luz hisses to Amity as soon as she's sure her mother is gone.
"What, why?" Amity blinks, wondering if she's done something wrong.
"You think you get all worried when I'm doing something stupid? Now imagine you're my mother," Luz said.
"I would prefer not to…" Amity can't help but smirk, and maybe it's her small way of getting back at Luz for the hickey, and it works, her face turns bright red.
"You are the worst. You know exactly what I meant!" Luz frowns.
"Fine, I just think your mother would be as proud of you as I am." Amity turns her head away and hears Luz sigh.
"I know, Amity, but I've seen her three times in six years, I just don't want to give her any extra reasons yet to worry about me when we're back home."
"Of course, you're right," Amity concedes, looking at her. "You planned to bring her to the Isles though, you don't think some things there won't… freak her out?" she asked.
"We have to ease her into it… I figured I'd bring her to Sunday night dinner next week to meet everyone."
"You think dinner with Eda, Lilith, our friends, and my siblings is easing her into it?" Amity gave her a deadpan look.
"I mean…," Luz started.
"Last week Viney and Gus crashed Puddles through the kitchen window and Eda and Lilith had a glyph fight over dessert… After Willow and Emira had a witch's duel in the front yard to decide who my maid of honor would be…" she crossed her arms.
"Well, now we know it's Willow..,." Luz chuckled, but Amity was still giving her a look. "That is one of the reasons it was so important that I brought you here to have dinner with her alone. You wanted to make a good first impression, and we really didn't need Ed and Em to meet her at the same time… or mom… I still haven't figured out how to tell her about that…" Luz trailed off, looking unsure.
Amity reached over and grabbed her hand.
"I'm sure she'll understand, Luz. Someone had to take care of you, it was only natural that Eda would fill that void in your life, and anyone can tell how much Eda loves you." she tried to ease Luz's worry about introducing her two mothers to each other.
"I know… I just don't want her to think that I replaced her. I always missed her, she just couldn't be there for me the same way mom was…" Luz frowned.
"It'll be okay, querida." Amity squeezed her hand and pressed a kiss to her cheek, which happened to be the same moment Camila returned to tell them dinner was ready and Amity whipped back, face pink as Camila was giving her an amused look.
"Smells great, Mami, what did you make?" Luz asked, standing.
"Chivo liniero." She smiled as Luz grinned and practically ran into the kitchen, Amity followed her, trying not to look Camila in the eye as she passed.
They sat at the small table and Camila set bowels in front of them filled with a thick, dark red stew, rice, and tostones on the side.
Luz was salivating and didn't hesitate to start spooning the stew into her mouth and humming in delight. She wanted to cry, it tasted the same as it did in her memories.
Amity smiled at her fiancée’s palpable joy.
"I don't know if you have anything like this back home, but I hope you enjoy it, Amity," Camila said, smiling at her across the table.
"I'm sure it's delicious," Amity told her politely, and then Luz is holding a tostone in front of her.
"Try this Amity, maybe you'll finally believe me that yours taste just like them." Luz grinned.
"You've made tostones?" Camila asks.
"We don't have plantains on the Isles, but I've made something similar for Luz," she explains.
"Yeah, when we first started dating, they taste just like yours," Luz confirmed, still holding the fried disk out to Amity who rolled her eyes. She was not going to let Luz feed her in front of her mother, but took it from her and took a bite. It really did taste nearly identical to the ones she sometimes made for Luz. Luz grinned and laughingly went on. "Probably why I ended up blurting out that I loved you a month into dating...Ow!" Her laugh was cut short as Amity glared at her and set her heeled foot back on the floor after kicking her fiancée under the table. "Kidding! I was kidding, mi amor!" Luz whined. that smarted. Amity huffed.
Camila chuckled under her breath as she started eating, glancing between the pair. Knowing her daughter, or at least the aspects of her personality that seemed to have carried over into adulthood, she wasn't surprised by the dynamic she seemed to have with her fiancée, though she hadn’t yet seen enough of Amity to make any concrete conclusions about her future daughter-in-law yet.
Amity carefully spooned some of the wonderful smelling food in her mouth, vaguely wondering if she might have any reactions to human food the same way Luz did to certain things on the Isles; she hoped to the Titan that if she did it wouldn't be to whatever this was.
Flavors like she's never known before exploded across her tongue. Luz grinned behind her own spoon, watching the wonder that filled Amity's face as she took her first bite, followed quickly by another. She goes back to her own food happily enjoying the way the heat begins to creep up on her, burning her mouth in that pleasurable way spicy food always has, a good pain. Her mother always made it extra spicy for her.
She pauses and blinks before her eyes go wide and her gaze shoots to Amity, and she can begin to see the exact moment the heat starts to creep up on her very, VERY, spice sensitive fiancée.
Amity is holding her spoon tightly and her cheeks are slightly flushed as she stares down at her food like it had been a trap.
Her mouth Is. On. fire!
Every nerve on her tongue burns and her eyes are starting to water. She knows what’s happening. She’d learned the hard way after a time that Luz had cooked for her that she can nowhere near handle the same level of spice that Luz, and apparently Camila, enjoyed.
But she's now stuck between a rock and a very hot place. She knows that dining etiquette in the human realm is similar enough to the Isles that it would be rude not to eat what’s been served to her, especially by her future mother-in-law, so even though it feels like she’s going to die, she keeps eating; though a little quicker than normal.
Luz watches her with wide eyes and is torn by her incredible love for this woman and her absolute exasperation at her perfectionist need to please, even to her detriment. She bites her lip, considering what she should do. She should make her stop, tell her mother that Amity is very sensitive to spicy foods, but that would just embarrass her and she knows how important this is to Amity. She bounced her foot, thinking quickly.
"Mami, do we have any milk?" she asks suddenly and Camila looks up.
“There’s almond milk In the fridge, yes.”
“Do you want some too, Amity?” she asks, making her look up from her near fever-induced trance, sweat beading up on her forehead, to see the hard, meaningful look Luz is giving her and nods jerkily.
“Yes, please.” She manages to almost sound normal.
Luz hops up and grabs two glasses and quickly pours them before she sets one in front of Amity, who grabs it almost immediately and downs half of it, luckily her mother isn’t looking at the moment.
Luz shakes her head to herself as she watches Amity continue to eat between drinks and when her glass is empty, Luz slyly slides her untouched glass to her and pulls the empty one over to her plate, giving Amity a clearly disapproving look that tells her exactly how she feels about what she’s doing. Amity ignores it. They both know she’s going to pay for it dearly later, not that she isn’t now, but that’s a problem for later.
“My, you must have liked it, I’ve only ever seen Luz eat that fast!” Camila laughed when ten minutes into dinner Amity’s plate lies empty. “Would you like some more?”
“No!” she coughs, reeling it back in and trying to speak when it feels like she could breathe fire better than Calliban. “No, thank you, I couldn’t possibly eat another bite. It was delicious, though, thank you.” She smiles.
“How on earth did you manage to find yourself such a polite young woman?” Camila turns to her daughter with an amused smile.
‘I didn’t find her on Earth,” Luz quips. “And I’m polite!” She argues.
Amity glances around the kitchen as she sips on the glass of milk, trying desperately to wash away the heat still rippling across her tongue and hanging on the wall she spots a framed photo of Luz, grinning cheesily at the camera and covered head to toe in mud, her eyes only just barely visible as she proudly held up some kind of small green creature.
Finished with teasing her daughter, Camila looks to see what has captured Amity’s attention and smiles when she sees the photo, the only one she had left up after Luz had disappeared. It had been too hard to look at all the ones that used to hang in the living room. She really needs to get those out of Luz’s bedroom.
“She had to have three baths after that,” Camila says to her, making Amity look up and she can’t help but grin.
“That sounds about right, she was covered in abomination goo when we met,” she says, glancing at Luz.
“Would you like to see some of her baby photos?”
“No!” Luz jumps in.
“Yes, please.” Amity brightens.
“Luz, why don’t you run upstairs and grab the box sitting on your old bed while I pick this up?”
“Why are they upstairs?” Luz asks, confused, only now noticing that all the photos that once hung in the house are gone, and her mother frowns, hesitating. She has to remind herself that Luz isn’t a child anymore and she needs to be honest about it, about the things that transpired over the last six years she was gone if she wants Luz to do the same. She knows there are things that her daughter isn’t telling her, though she doesn't know just what they are yet.
“I put them all away two years after you disappeared, they were too hard to look at after a while,” she finally says and the mood in the kitchen noticeably drops.
“Oh…,” Luz says quietly and Amity squeezes her leg under the table, still nursing her milk. “Yeah... sure. Come on, Amity. I’ll show you my old room.” Luz stood from the table, Amity following behind her back through the living room and up the stairs. Luz doesn’t say anything as they do.
She stops at a door with a sheet of notebook paper taped to it that has a drawing, obviously done by Luz, of herself, dressed as Azura. She opens it and they step into what was obviously once a teenage girls room. There’s a desk with a book laying open on its surface and a corkboard hanging over it with various notes and drawings tacked to it. A bookshelf sits in the corner full of books and the walls are covered in Azura and anime posters, clothes are strewn across the floor in various places.
Luz’s hand on the knob tightens as she looks around at her old bedroom. The dirty, long unwashed window, letting little light in. This room, unlike the rest of the house, feels like it’s been stuck in a loop in time, the only way she can tell that time has, in fact, passed, is the thick layer of dust that covers everything.
“She never touched anything…,” she finally mumbles quietly.
Hands grip her shoulders gently and Amity is pressing against her back, a reassuring presence that Luz greatly appreciates at this moment. She reached back to lay a hand over one of Amity’s smaller ones on her shoulder and squeezed it, silent thanks that she understands well. Amity doesn’t need to ask if she’s okay, because she knows there is no straightforward answer to that.
Luz sighs quietly through her nose as she looks at all her old things, left behind to rot, untouched, and spots the cardboard box sitting on her bed that obviously doesn’t belong with everything else in the room. She walks over to it and picks it up. She glances at her unmade bed as she does. Sheets still turned back from when she’d hopped out of bed the morning she’d left for ‘summer camp’.
“I forgot to make my bed that morning,” she says aloud, but Amity doesn’t say anything, just watches her quietly. “...I figured I could just do it when I got back…,” she says quietly.
Amity watches silently from the doorway as Luz sets the box on the carpet and starts to carefully make the bed, sending a cloud of dust in the air that creates a little snowstorm as the particles float in the rays of the dim sunlight coming in the window.
When she’s satisfied, she picks the box back up and walks back to the door.
“I’ll make sure to make ours every morning,” Luz says as she stops next to her, the look in her dark eyes is so intense, and the words said with such absolute conviction Amity had to suppress a shiver at the low tone they’re delivered in. The words would sound strange to anyone else, a bizarre declaration, but Amity understands the promise clearly.
“I know you will, Luz,” she answers and Luz nods, satisfied, and walks down the hall. Amity closed the door to the old bedroom behind her before she followed.
“Mami, I got them!” Luz called as they walked into the living room.
Camila comes out of the kitchen, drying her hands on a dishrag, and can see that both girls look strangely intense, but she doesn't mention it as they sit on the couch.
Camila digs through the box and smiles as she pulls out Luz’s baby album. It no longer hurt to look at them as it would have just two weeks ago. The first two years after Luz had vanished had felt like agony every time she passed one of her daughter’s photos on the wall, sometimes causing her to burst into tears. It was just after one such outburst two years in that she had packed them all in a box and left them sitting on Luz’s bed, safe for a future day when it didn’t cause her heart to crack looking at them, but that day had never come; till now.
She flips it open and shows it to Amity, sitting on her right.
There are photos of her just after birth in the hospital followed by just after she’d been brought home.
“This is her first bath.” Camila smiles proudly and Amity coos at the photo while Luz groans into her hands.
“Why?” she hisses, face already turning red.
They spend twenty minutes looking at the album and other pictures in the box Camila had taken off the walls.
Amity is snickering at a picture of Luz as a toddler, grinning brightly at the camera, a large gap in her wide smile and covered in glue, glitter all over her.
“I’m sensing a theme between you and sticky substances,” Amity smirked at her. Luz stuck her tongue out at her. It was while looking at the photo that Camila had a thought she just couldn’t keep to herself.
“Wouldn’t a bebe with your face and Amity’s eyes just be adorable?” Camila looked at them and both their faces erupt in red.
“Mami, we’re not even married yet!” Luz chokes.
“Just a thought, Mija.” Camila smiles to herself, but she can clearly see that despite her bright red face, Amity is imagining the same thing now, and she is. A child with Luz’s darker complexion, fluffy, brown hair, and her own bright gold eyes and ears.
‘Cute’ she thinks.
Luz looks at her and sees the thoughtful look too and turns even redder.
Camila flips through the album, disappointed that half the pages are blank, a strong reminder of the last six years that have been lost and Amity seems to notice as she stops on a page that has Luz from what must be right before they met and the next is glaringly blank.
Amity hesitates a second before she speaks.
“I have some from around this time and after if you’d like to see them?” she asks and Camila looks at her with surprise, the look in her eyes is intense but Amity can’t put a name to it.
“I’d like that, yes.” Camila smiles and Amity nods, lifting a hand, and Camila watches, fascinated as she spins a finger in a large circle and a magenta ring of light blinks into existence and a book falls out of it into Amity’s hands. It's pink with black binding and reads ‘memories’ in neat, looping calligraphy.
“I didn’t know you kept a photo album.” Luz scoots in closer to look over her shoulder at the book.
“Mhmm” Amity nods as she hands it to Camila, who flips it open. The first photos are of them and their friends from Grom. Luz and Amity take turns explaining the scenarios laid out in front of them as they flip through it. Amity, like everything else she does, is a meticulous record keeper. Many of the pivotal moments of their relationship and lives with their friends are taped to the books pages and many not so important little moments, like them with Gus and Willow one Halloween. Gus dressed as a toaster, yet somehow, Luz is still the standout in the picture, dressed as a werewolf while everyone else is dressed like humans. Right below it is a photo of the same scene sometime later. With Luz, hands held up in front of her as a large angry werewolf shouts at her.
“He did not appreciate my costume…,” Luz said.
“I think what he found offense with was when you howled at him,” she clarified, smirking.
“How was I supposed to know that was a werewolf curse?” she asked, raising a hand.
Amity lets Luz tell most of the tales, except the ones she doesn’t know, like ones where Luz is clearly not paying attention to the photos being taken of her, like as she zips along on Eda’s staff and a couple where she is asleep, splayed out on the couch or under a tree, and one where she and Amity are clearly laying in bed, Luz with her mouth open and drooling, arms wrapped around Amity, who is taking the photo from above them, smiling, sickeningly sweet at the camera.
“Do you often take photos of me asleep?” Luz smirks at her and she pinks.
“Not...often…,” she mumbled, and Luz snickers, sitting her chin on her shoulder and giving her a smug, knowing look. “Shut up…,” Amity grumbled.
Camila flips the page and on it is a picture of all of them at graduation, shoved together and showing off their staffs, and next to it is one of the two of them with Eda and Lilith just after, standing in front of the owl house, Eda with her arm draped around Luz and grinning toothily, both holding their owl topped staffs. The Owl Lady had never looked so proud. Next to them are Lilith and Amity, the former with her hand resting on the laters shoulder, also both proudly holding their staffs and smiling at the camera. The low angle of the photo indicates King as the photographer.
“That’s Eda and Lilith.” Amity points out the two sisters.
“Eda is the woman who took care of you, right, Mija?” Camila looks to her daughter, who freezes.
“Yeah,” she says simply. She needs to tell her mother about her co motherhood with Eda, but she has not a clue how that conversation will go, and today was about introducing her mother to Amity, she doesn’t want to taint her perception of the witch should that conversation go poorly, so she holds her tongue; for now. Amity glances at her out of the corner of her eye but says nothing.
“I can make copies of any of these if you’d like.” Amity turns to Camila who smiles.
“I’d like that, thank you,” she says and Amity nods. “Tell me, have you two made any plans for the wedding yet?” she asks, closing the book and handing it back to Amity, who set it on the coffee table.
“Not really, but that's still five months away, and neither of us wanna do anything big, so we don’t need to do that much planning.” Luz shrugged.
“We have picked a date,” Amity tells her.
“Oh?”
“Halloween!” Luz grinned.
“Why does that not surprise me?” Camila looked at her daughter with fond exasperation.
“It's only a coincidence that it's Halloween. We picked it because that’s the date of the next blue moon,” Amity explains.
“Oh, I see. Luz told me about the masquerade party.” Camila smiles at that.
“Yeah! Other than that we have made zero decisions… except that it can’t be costume themed…” Luz pouted and Amity rolled her eyes. “But yea, October thirty-first, Mami, save the date!” She grinned brightly.
“I’ll be there of course.” she nodded. “Are you changing your name, Mija?” she asked curiously.
“Oh, I hadn’t thought about it…,” Luz hummed.
“I have, I just hadn’t had a chance to talk to you about it yet,” Amity piped up, drawing both women’s eyes.
“Yeah? Did you want to hyphenate them or…,” Luz trailed off. Amity shook her head.
“No, actually, if it’s alright with you, I’d like to change mine to Noceda,” she tells her, and Luz’s face morphs into pleasantly surprised shock.
“Of course you can, mi amor!” She grins, throwing an arm around Amity’s waist and squeezing her. “‘Luz Blight’ doesn't really roll off the tongue anyway.” she grinned but then her face took on that look that tells Amity she’s thinking.
“What?” Amity cocks a brow at her.
“I do rather like the sound of ‘Amity Noceda’ though.” She smiles at her in that soft way that makes the tips of Amity’s ears turn pink.
“Stop it,” she whispers.
“I’m not doing anything.” Luz grinned, leaning in close. She knows exactly what she’s doing.
“You know exactly what you’re doing!” she hissed quietly, leaning her head back, away from her encroaching fiancée, face following along with the color of her ears, well aware that Camila is watching them, but that doesn’t stop Luz from darting forward and pecking Amity’s lips. She makes an embarrassed squeak.
Since her pointed ears stick out away from her head, Camila can clearly see them turning red and laughs behind her hand. Luz just grins even as Amity glares at her, though the look is diminished by her red hot face.
Camila believes she’s seen enough to finally make a sound judgment of Amity Blight.
She’s a lovely young woman, who seems to make her daughter incredibly happy and who she’s glad to welcome into the family. It’s astounding to her, how in the span of two weeks she could go from having felt so empty to her heart overflowing with joy.
“It’s funny,” Camila starts, drawing both women’s eyes. “I thought I had lost Luz forever, but then she comes back and brings me a second daughter too,” Camila laughed and Luz smiles at her, the expression threatening to split her face.
Amity has frozen as the words hit her, hearing those words come out of Camila’s mouth makes her brain screech to a halt.
In two hours, she feels more wanted by Luz’s mother than she ever had by her own in twenty-one years of living. On top of her fresh confrontation with her mother a few days ago, it’s too much, it’s hard to breathe, and her hands fist into the fabric of her dress. Emotions rise up in her chest, strong ones, that suddenly threaten to choke her with their intensity.
“I…,” she stalls, and Luz can see what’s happening in her face. They’ve seen each other at their best and absolute, messy worst, and she immediately knows the signs of Amity on the verge of an emotion induced anxiety attack, and she leans in close, hand on her waist squeezing comfortingly.
“The bathroom is down that hall, first door on the left, amor,” Luz tells her quietly as Camila watches, confused by what’s happening. Amity nods a little shakily and stands.
“Excuse me…” she hurries down the hall, mother and daughter watch her go.
“I’m sorry, Mija, I didn’t mean to upset her.” Camila frowns, looking worried, and it is even more confused when Luz smiles brightly at her.
“No, Mami, no! You were perfect. You just overwhelmed her, ” Luz assures. “She’s been terrified all day that you might hate her,” Luz says quietly.
“What!? She’s perfectly lovely!” Camila frowns and Luz smiles a little sadly at her.
“I know she is… it’s just…,” Luz trails off, clenching her fists.
While Amity is in the bathroom trying to pull herself together enough to go back out there and act normal, Luz explains Amity’s rather complicated and painful relationship with her own mother as well as their most recent confrontation.
“The poor girl, that’s terrible.” Camila holds a hand to her mouth, appalled by what her daughter tells her, as Luz knew her mother would be. “How could anyone treat their own daughter that way?”
Luz wishes she knew the answer to that, wishes she could fix all the things that cause Amity pain, like Odalia Blight, but if time and maturity had taught her anything, it was that some things are just terrible, and can’t be fixed, no matter how much you want to, or try. Amity’s relationship with her mother is just one of those things, unfortunately. Something that she had to learn to live with, and it makes Luz all the more grateful for the two mother’s she has, and determined to make sure Amity rarely feels the loss, though she knows she can never take it away completely. Eda had always been good at making Amity feel like another member of their little flock of a family, and her faith that her mother would as well had been rewarded.
“I’m going to go check her,” Luz said, standing from the couch and walking down the hall to the closed bathroom door. She tapped on it quietly
“Hey, can I come in?” she asks quietly. The lock clicks and Luz slips inside.
Amity is standing with both hands on the sink, staring down at it and Luz can see the trembling in her frame. She stands behind her and wraps her arms around her shoulders.
“It’s okay, amor,” she whispers into her ear. “Slow, deep breaths,” she murmurs, feeling Amity’s quaking in her arms as she tries to follow the instruction. The last thing they need is Amity hyperventilating in the bathroom.
It takes a few minutes for Amity to relax, or at least as relaxed as she’s going to get, and goes limp in Luz’s arms.
“I’m making a fool of myself…,” Amity whispers.
“No, you aren’t” Luz quickly assures. “You’re fine. I told you, Mami adores you, you’re great.” Luz carefully avoids the word perfect whenever she references Amity, the woman has no positive connotations for the word.
“Hiding in the bathroom is not ‘great’ Luz!” Amity growls, pressing her palms against her eyes.
“If you can get through my mother's extra spicy Chivo liniero, you can do this,” Luz says. “We’re going to talk about that stunt later, by the way,” Luz jokes, hoping to lighten Amity’s mood. It works, and a small smile pulls at her lips.
“You didn’t tell me it was going to be demon fire in a bowl…,” she snips back playfully.
“Lo siento, mi amor. I forgot all about it,” she mumbled. “But it was tasty demon fire, right?” she grinned, looking at Amity in the mirror.
“Up until I couldn’t taste anything…,” she admitted, making Luz chuckle and brush a stray lock of auburn hair away from her face.
“Are you ready to go back out there?” she asked after a moment.
Amity sighed quietly but nodded. Luz released her and stepped back, letting Amity straighten herself out.
“I’ll go back out,” she hooked a thumb over her shoulder and Amity nodded.
Luz walked back into the living room where her mother was waiting on the couch.
“Is she alright?” Camila frowned.
“She’s fine.” Luz nodded, plopping down on the couch. “I just remembered though, Mami, you should come to dinner at the owl house. We all get together almost every Sunday for dinner, you can meet everyone.”
It was then that Amity cautiously stepped out of the hall and sat next to Luz, who took hold of one of her hands.
“My apologies, Ms. Noceda…,” Amity started, only for Camila to cut her off.
“Nothing to be sorry for, cariño.” Camila smiled and Amity pinked at the word.
“Amity, tell Mami she needs to come to dinner at the house and meet everyone.” Luz bounced excitedly.
“Umm… come prepared for a very… exuberant meal…,” she says finally and Luz snorts.
They leave soon after securing Camila’s agreement to come to dinner the coming Sunday.
“I think that went pretty well,” Luz starts as they walk through the portal and step back into the demon realm.
“It certainly could have gone worse…,” she admits, walking around the front of the house.
“I told you, you were worried for nothing.” Luz smiles at her as she quietly opens the door to the house so as not to wake Hooty.
“Maybe,'' Amity admits, starting for the stairs. “Though now we get to worry about Sunday,” she says. “I’m going to have to call Emira and make the twins promise to be on their best behavior.”
Luz chuckles as she follows her to their room.
“I’m sure they'll be fine.” Luz waved.
“It’s like you’ve never met my siblings…” Amity smirked, glancing at Luz over her shoulder.
The house is quiet and they figure the rest of the house’s residents have gone to bed already, so they make their way quietly to their room to change for bed.
Amity sighs tiredly as she flops back onto the bed.
“My mouth still hurts…,” she grumbled, making Luz snicker as she crawled into bed next to her and wrapped an arm around her waist.
“Chica blanca…,” is the mumbled reply. Amity frowns. She knows the words but doesn’t understand whatever reference Luz is making, but knows by the look on her face she’s making fun of her, she pokes her side sharply, which only makes Luz giggle more.
“Ugh, goodnight.” She spins a finger and the lights go out as she turns onto her side, pointedly facing away from Luz, but that doesn't dissuade her from following to spoon her, and Amity doesn’t protest.
“Good night, mi amor,” Luz mumbled into her neck.
It’s quiet for a few minutes before Luz’s voice again breaks the quiet.
“Amity…?”
“Hmm?” she doesn’t open her eyes. She wouldn’t be able to see her anyway, behind her in the dark.
“Are you happy?”
That does make her eyes open. She can’t distinguish anything from Luz’s voice. She rolls over to face her and from what little light is coming in the window from the moon she can see the shine of it bouncing off Luz’s eyes as she looks at her.
“What do you mean? Like, right now, in general…?” she questions.
She feels more than sees Luz’s shrug.
“I guess in general, yeah, are you happy?” she asks again and Amity stares back at her for a long time, trying to figure out what exactly Luz is asking her, she never asks such a question without purpose.
“Do you think I’m unhappy?” she asks, eyebrows knitting between her forehead as she tries to read Luz’s face, puzzle out what this sudden line of questioning is about.
“I don’t... think, you are, no,” Luz finally answers. “I just… want to make sure. Are you happy with everything? Our lives, getting married… me?” she finally says and Amity’s eyes shoot wide open.
‘What? Why would you ask that?” Amity frowns, reaching out in the dark for Luz’s hand. She finds it and laces their fingers together, she can feel the warm metal of Luz’s ring against her cool hand.
Her eyes have adjusted and she can see Luz’s frown.
“Seeing my old room today… how she never went in there, put all my photos away, it just got me thinking about how good I seem to be at hurting the people I love without meaning to and I… I dunno how to explain it, but you're happy, right?” The question resonates with a desperateness that makes Amity’s chest tighten painfully.
She pulls her hand out of Luz’s to reach up and cup her face in both hands.
“Listen to me, and listen carefully, Luz Noceda,” she says seriously. “I love you, and I’ve never been as happy as I am when I’m with you. Okay?” she asks quietly.
Luz reached up to press her hand over one of Amity’s on her cheek and turned her head just enough to press a kiss to her palm.
“Yeah,” she mumbled against her skin.
“Good,” Amity mumbles and pulls her hands back to wrap around her, tugging her closer. “Now go to sleep, you dork,” she grumbled. Luz smiled and squeezed her tightly.

I Can’t Let You Disappear From My Life A Second Time - Ch 5
A/N: Sorry for the wait, I've had some family stuff going on lately.
I apologize in advance for any mistakes.
“How about this one?” Eda stepped out of the bathroom connected to her bedroom, she wore a royal blue mini dress with a deep V neck, exposing the appropriate amount of cleavage to be sexy. The spaghetti straps and open back showed off her shoulders and the skin of her back. The supple soft fabric cut at thigh high length, showing off her legs, the front was in a wrap-around style with chic runch detail.
“Pretty. So pretty.” Alara clapped her hands. “I want to look pretty, too. Can I go with you?”
“No,” Halil shook his head, picking up Alara and setting her on his knee where he was seated on the edge of Eda’s bed. “You’re already pretty and you have to stay home with me tonight.”
Alara frowned, not liking the idea. “Why?”
“Because I’m meeting someone really important and I want everything to go right,” Eda told her.
“Can I meet him?” Alara asked.
“Yes but not tonight.” Eda looked at Halil. “What’s your take, Halil?”
Halil looked her over deliberately starting from her legs and stopping at her eyes, his smile was sincere, eyes kind. “I think you look perfect. Serkan won’t be able to breathe when he sees you.”
“You think?” Eda walked over to her mirror, turning left then right looking herself over.
“I know,” Halil said and there was something in his voice that had Eda looking back at him but as soon as she met his eyes he looked away.
But it was long enough for her to see the longing in his eyes.
Eda bit her lip, a feeling of guilt etching into her stomach. It wasn’t hard to see that Halil had feelings for her but it was easier to never talk about it. She didn’t feel the same way. She didn’t want to hurt him. She pretended not to notice the long looks he gave her, the way he smiled at her, how his eyes lit up when she walked into the room.
Halil was a great guy but he wasn’t the guy for her. Things probably would’ve been easier if she returned his feelings however nothing worth fighting for was easy. And the life she saw for herself with Serkan, the love she never stopped feeling for him that was worth fighting for and she refused to live a lie by pretending her heart didn’t beat for Serkan Bolat.
She looked back at herself. She wore a longer chain so she could hide her ring in her cleavage, it was the only piece of jewelry she was wearing tonight. Her make-up was light, enhancing her natural beauty and her hair flowed around her shoulders in waves, the ends tickling at her back.
She walked over to her vanity and slipped on a pair of silver strappy heels and grabbed her clutch. “Okay, I will see you guys later.”
“Is he picking you up or are you meeting him there?” Halil asked suddenly.
“I’m meeting him there,” Eda answered.
Halil stood up, holding Alara on his hip. She rested against him with ease and trust, leaning her head against his shoulder. “I’ll drive you.”
Eda shook her head. “That’s not necessary.”
There was no need for Halil to torture himself.
“Are you sure? I don’t mind.”
“I’m sure,” Eda walked forward and pressed a kiss to Alara’s cheek. “Just take care of our favorite girl and I’ll be home later.”
Halil looked down at Alara and held her closer. “Okay.”
Eda forced a smile, she had the urge to hug him, the way she would if she had a brother but she didn’t want him to take it the wrong way or read incorrectly into it. Instead, she offered him a smile and a wave and walked out the door.
~*~ ~*~ ~*~
Serkan arrived at the restaurant early, he requested their table be out on the deck. It offered an amazing view of the city and he remembered Eda loved the sea. He hoped she would appreciate the gesture.
He looked at his watch just as it hit seven o’clock. She should be there any minute.
He looked up and his breath left him, his lips parting.
How was she more beautiful every time he saw her?
He pushed his chair back and stood as Eda came toward him, he moved around the table. “Eda, you look unbelievable.”
Eda smiled. “Thank you.” Her eyes took him in, the dark suit, the vest, the way he wore his hair, the stubble covering his jaw. It all suited him so perfectly, she felt her stomach flutter.
Serkan pulled out her chair and she thanked him, leaning forward brushing her lips against his cheek. He paused staring at her before swallowing thickly and pushed her chair in.
Eda set her clutch on the table as he retook his seat across from her. “I’m sorry if I kept you waiting.”
“No,” Serkan shook his head. “I arrived early.”
Eda smiled and her eyes caught on the ocean, the lights of the city reflecting off the dark waves. “This is an amazing view.”
“I thought you would appreciate it.” Serkan picked up his menu, pretending to look at it, and cast glances at her as she looked over her own menu.
The waiter came over a few minutes later and took down their orders.
“You still order dessert first,” Serkan said in amusement.
“Some things never change about a person,” Eda said. Like the way, she felt for him.
“I suppose they don’t.” Serkan agreed. Serkan took her in, his eyes roaming over her every feature. Her cheekbones, her dark eyes, her flawless skin, her gorgeous hair, the curve of her lips, the smell of her perfume wafting in the air, mixing with the aroma of the food.
His eyes went to her hand resting on the table, his own tingled with the urge to reach out and laced their fingers together.
He once said that there were invisible handcuffs between them and he still felt that was true. Even now. There was this force between them, tying him to her and now that she was in front of him he felt he couldn’t part from her.
It was wrong, he knew she had a family at home waiting for her but It did not change how he felt. He was in love with her and that was never going to change no matter how far out of his reach she was even when sitting right across from him, looking more beautiful than ever.
Eda's heart sped up at the way he was looking at her. “Is something wrong, Serkan?”
“No, I’m just, taking a moment to commit tonight to my memory,” Serkan answered.
“Why?”
“You have no idea how much I have missed you. For the longest time, I held onto the history between us to remember you by, your smile, your eyes, how beautiful you are, your kindness, your strength, your courage. I tried to remember every little detail about you. Yet, having you sitting across from me, I know now my memories of you did not hold up to the real thing. I need to be thorough in committing you to my memory from now on that way when I miss you to the point my body aches with regret, I will have that image to hold close to my chest.”
Eda felt tears gather in her eyes at his words. She went to discreetly wipe them away when she caught him twisting and turning the ring he wore. His engagement ring to her.
“Is that why you still wear your ring? Because of the memories attached to it?” Eda asked, feeling emotion tighten her chest.
“No, I wear because it has become a part of me,”
Just as much as his love for her had become a part of his soul but he couldn’t tell her that. Not when she had a family waiting at home for her.
Eda’s heart pounded in her chest. God, did he have to say things like that? She had the urge to say hell to everything, with her plan of taking the time to get to know each other again and just reach across the table and kiss him, tell him to take her back to his place so she could show him just how much she still loves him.
“I have never once taken this ring off and I won’t,” Serkan swallowed, he brought his gaze to her. “I know you have a family now waiting at home for you and that for you what we shared is your past, not your future but-”
“I don’t,” Eda blurted, knowing she had to tell him. She couldn’t let him continue to think she had left him behind in the past. “I don’t have a family waiting for me. My engagement is fake which is why I didn’t wear the ring tonight, and I don’t have a daughter.”
“What?” Serkan’s eyes shot to her hand and relief unlike he had ever known washed over him at her naked finger.
“Let me explain,” Eda reached across the table touching his hand. “Yes, they're at home waiting for me and they’re family but not in the sense you’ve been thinking.”
The waiter appeared then delivering their food.
Serkan turned his hand over and grabbed a hold of hers as soon as the waiter was gone, holding on. “Tell me.”
“I had this roommate in Italy when I was finishing my degree. Aiyla. She was pregnant, disowned by her parents. She was putting herself through college with the help of her brother Halil. I became very close with Aiyla and by extension Halil. When Aiiyla was 32 weeks pregnant she got into a car accident. She didn’t make it but the doctors were able to save her baby.” Eda paused, the sadness she felt whenever she spoke of Aiyla’s death creeping up on her. “She was a sister to me, I felt so lost when she died, that was when I called you, I thought you better than anyone knew what it was like to lose a sibling.”
“I’m sorry you lost her,” Serkan squeezed her hand, his thumbing brushing across her knuckles.
Eda nodded. “Halil, got custody of the baby, Alara. It was hard for him in the beginning and I did all I could to help him. Alara is the closest thing I have to a niece.”
“And the fake engagement?” Serkan asked.
“Halil has a job in politics and he needed a fiance to approve his image since he had a child. It is not known that Alara is his sister’s child and not his. He does his best to keep it from the media. He does not wish for Aiyla's memory to be dragged through the mud for having been unmarried when she got pregnant and he doesn’t want that scandal to follow Alara around for the rest of her life. He asked that I pose as his fiance, giving Alara a mother in front of the cameras and reporters. It was never anything more. Halil is a good friend and needed help and like I said I did what I could to help.”
Serkan felt a weight lift inside his chest, something uncoiling from around his heart but it was still a lot to take in. “I thought you started a family.”
“No.” Eda shook her head. “One day. Maybe.” Only with him.
Serkan nodded slowly, his hand tightening around hers. “Good. That’s good.”
Serkan ducked his head to hide his relieved smile.
“I want you to meet them, Serkan,” Eda said suddenly.
Serkan’s eyes snapped back to her. “What?”
“Halil and Alara.” Eda clarified. “I want you to meet them. They know all about you and I want you to know them.”
Serkan nodded. Of course, they would know of him. He was Serkan Bolat. It couldn’t be because Eda talked about him, could it?
“They are important to me and you are important to me and I would like you to spend time with them before Halil and Alara go back to Italy.”
“They’re not staying?” Serkan inquired.
“No, Halil’s life is not here but he wanted to give me and Alara some more time together and he wanted to make sure I got settled back in. He’s protective that way.” A smile pulled at Eda’s lips.
Serkan felt something twist inside him at the fondness she spoke of a man who was not him. “I can’t. I am very busy.”
Serkan wasn’t sure he could stomach seeing the man. He was still trying to process what Eda had told him and just knowing the man was close with Eda made his blood pressure rise.
“Please.” Eda looked at him with that look he could never say no to. “It would mean so much to me,”
Serkan rolled his eyes at his inability to say no to her even now. “Okay, I will think about it.”
Eda nodded. It wasn’t exactly a yes but it was good enough for her. “Thank you.”
Serkan nodded and began eating his food, Eda doing the same.
“Have you spoken to Selin after finding out everything?” Eda asked, after a moment.
Serkan swallowed a bite of food and took a drink from his glass of water. “No,” he shook his head, fighting down the anger. “After you left the office, I went to talk to her but she had left and she hasn’t been taking my calls.”
“She’s avoiding you.”
“As she should,” Serkan said, clenching his jaw. “I didn’t think she was capable of such deceit. I was wrong. Now I’m not sure I ever truly knew her.”
“What she did is in the past, perhaps it's best not to bring it up again,” Eda suggested, she hated what Selin did but she refused to give the woman the power to affect her life after all this time.
“No, she has to know her actions have consequences.” Serkan jaw clenched. “She will answer for her lies and deception.”
“Okay,” Eda said, she could see the anger in his eyes and she didn’t feel like arguing on a woman’s behalf who only proved herself to be selfish, manipulative, and self-centered.
“Since we're discussing this, I have to ask,” Serkan looked at her. “Why did you never try to reach out to me again?”
“After Aiyla died my life became so complicated. I was finishing up school and Halil was all alone with Alara. He needed help and he needed family and I couldn’t imagine leaving that little girl behind. Being in their lives..it really helped me process my grief in a healthy way. Being around them helped me stay connected with Aiyla even after her death. It kept her memory alive for me.” Eda licked her lips. “And if I’m being honest I was scared to reach out in case you really didn't want me in your life.”
“I am always gonna want you in my life.” Serkan words were immediate. “You always had this way of shining color and life into my world when I didn’t even know it was missing. I have missed that.” He missed her but he was hesitant to put his heart completely on the line. She still had a family waiting for her at home even if it wasn’t in the sense he thought and he wasn’t sure if he could still fit into her life like before.
Eda smiled and reached out touching his hand. “Serkan, I know we have a lot to work through and catch up on and there’s always going to be this history between us but I would like the chance to be a part of your life again. I want us to start over.”
Serkan's heart felt like it was going to pound out of his chest. He had to force himself not to reach his hand up and place his palm over it.
He wanted to stand up and pull her into his arms and crush his lips to hers but there was this little voice in his head telling him she still had someone in her life. She didn’t need him and maybe she never did, not the way he needed her.
He couldn’t turn her life upside down but he knew he couldn’t let her go either. He couldn’t let her disappear from his life again.
“So do I and I feel confident about what I’m about to say. I want you to come work for me as a landscape architect. You’ve made a huge name for yourself and I think we can do some amazing things when we work together.”
Eda felt her heart drop into her stomach. She didn’t know what she had been expecting him to say but it wasn’t that. She felt like Serkan was putting her in a professional box.
She looked into his eyes and she could clearly see that he still felt for her but he was setting boundaries for them.
“You want me to come work for you?” Eda asked, needing clarification. She didn’t want any more misunderstandings between them.
“Not for me. With me.” Serkan released her hand. “You will have your own office and will handle your own projects with full creative control. If you say yes, you can come by the office first thing tomorrow and we can work out all the details.”
Eda drew her hand back slowly, her skin feeling cold. This wasn’t what she wanted.
Of course, she wanted to work with him. They worked so well together but she wanted more than work to be between them. She wanted everything life had to offer with Serkan.
~*~ ~*~ ~*~
Eda walked through the door to her home. It was almost ten o’clock, most of the lights were out.
She wasn’t surprised. By now Alara would be sleeping in her bed and Halil would be working, pouring over documents.
There was one light shining in from the kitchen, she walked toward it.
Halil was at the counter surrounded by papers, a pen, and a notepad in his hands.
“I know you came here with me to help me get settled but I thought you could also use the time away from work to actually take a break yet here you are working.”
Halil looked up, his lips pulling into a smile. “You know I like to keep busy.”
“I know.” Eda set her clutch on the table and slid into the seat across from her.
“Can I get you a drink,” Halil asked, setting his pen down and standing.
“Water is fine,” Eda answered, she pulled her phone out of her clutch and set it beside her.
Halil retrieved a bottle of water from the refrigerator and placed it in front of her before pouring himself a cup of coffee and re-taking his seat. “How did the date go? Was it everything you wanted it to be?”
“It was and it wasn’t. I mean, it was great spending time with Serkan again and clearing the air between us but having the person you love sitting across from you really puts everything in perspective.”
“What? He’s more amazing than you remember?” Halil asked.
“Something like that,” Eda admitted. “I don’t think you truly know how deeply you miss someone until you're reunited with them. Or how much you still love them. All I wanted to do tonight was kiss Serkan like my life depended on it. He was close enough where I could do it but I’m afraid of moving too fast. I fear that he will reject me because of how suddenly I’ve reappeared in his life.”
“No man in his right man would ever reject you, Eda. Especially not one who had the pleasure of knowing you and falling in love with you. If Serkan Bolat doesn’t realize he’s the luckiest man on the planet then he doesn’t deserve you,” Halil's words were sincere as he looked into her eyes.
Eda swallowed, she could hear the underline sadness in his words, see the longing in his eyes.
It was no secret to her that Halil was in love with her. She has been aware of feelings for a long time. It was obvious in the way he looked at her, the way his eyes lit up whenever she walked into the room. How before the fake engagement he never once attempted to correct others for wrongly assuming they were together or that Alara was their daughter. How every time he would turn a woman down, he would look right at her.
Eda loved him just not the way he loved her. He was an amazing friend and maybe if she hadn’t given her heart away a long time ago or hadn’t already found her other half things would be different but that wasn’t the case.
She didn’t lead him on. He was fully aware of who she loves and that she wanted a life with Serkan, and Halil being the great guy she has known for years never once showed any resentment that she didn’t feel the same way about him.
Not once did he try to force his feelings on her or try to pressure her into feeling something for him in return. No, he had always just been her rock, her pillar, her friend, her family.
“I’m sorry,” she said suddenly. She hated that she caused him pain without meaning to. “I know how you feel about me and I’m sorry I can’t return your feelings.”
“I was never great at hiding what I feel for someone I care about,” Halil said, looking away from her. He swallowed heavily, running a hand down his face.
Guilt ate away at Eda at the pain radiating from him. “Halil, I-”
“Don’t Eda,” He cut her off. “Don’t apologize for not feeling the same. I knew I never had a chance with you and I fell in love with you anyway. It’s not your fault.” Halil reached across the counter and placed his hand over hers. “For years you have been there for me and Alara without question, never once did you complain or imply that we were interfering with your life. You were the only support my sister had before she died. I have watched you move through life shining brightly but I always felt you were a little lost and maybe that’s because you left a vital piece of yourself with Serkan. You have sacrificed again and again for me and Alara, you need to start living for yourself. I want you to be happy Eda and if being with Serkan will make you happy then I fully support you being with him.” He squeezed her hands.
Eda smiled. “I may not love you the way you love me, but I do love you, you know that?”
Halil smiles and it was sincere and genuine and brought a smile to Eda. “I know,” he said finally. “Now, tell me how the date ended. Did you make plans to see each other again?”
“Sort of. He wants me to come work for him. I think he’s hesitant to put his heart on the line.” Eda said.
“Well, then you just need to accept his offer and show him you're not going anywhere and that you came back for him.”
“Yeah?” Eda asked. “You don’t think just jumping into everything with him is moving too fast. I don’t want to push him away.”
“You won’t. If he loves you as you love him, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. The way I look at it and everything you told me about your history with Serkan, the two of you have wasted enough time. Life is too short to live with regrets. We know that better than anyone. If you and Serkan love each other that’s all that matters.”
Eda knew he was right. She got up and walked over to him, she squeezed his shoulder in thanks. “Put the papers away. I’m gonna go get changed and then we are going to watch a movie, eat ice cream and plan out the places you and Alara should visit while you’re here.”
“Sounds good.” Halil started to gather up his work.
Eda smiled as she headed to her room. She would forever be grateful for Halil's compassionate heart. His advice about Serkan, circling in her mind. She knew he was right.
She didn’t want to waste time with Serkan, pretending she didn’t come back for him. She lost so much time with him already, she didn’t want to lose anymore.
A/N: Thanks for reading.

Sen Çal Kapımı 1 - Episode Recap
To be honest, this series of posts is mostly going to be a fashion roast. But DISCLAIMER! I really do love this show and Turkish TV in general, it’s just my preferred mode of media analysis is to pick things apart. 😂And I need everyone to know that I am very pro-women, and believe people should be able to dress how they want and not be judged for it or be looked down upon for it. But oh my god this wardrobe department/costumer needs to be STOPPED. I also have zero credentials to be talking about fashion, but will that stop me?
I’m going to make these posts assuming you’ve watched the show, and just comment on whatever comes up. There will be spoilers. Let’s go!
We start off with a voiceover from Eda Yıldız, an A+ romcom trope. (It wasn’t until my rewatch that I remembered that Eda used to do VOs at random intervals, and I’m kind of glad she stopped tbh.) She is a strong woman who wants to get her education and become a landscape architect/designer. She was all set to do that until- dun dun dun! - Serkan Bolat destroyed everything.
Check out that dart board of a man (and this is the only time we see that photo there). And these outfits are probably the most normal and reasonable clothes she wears in the show. She’s a beautiful young woman, who was a college student, and now works outdoors as a florist. 10/10 outfit.
Of course that transitions us into an epic slomo of Serkan exiting his private jet. He of course begins to berate his assistant on the phone in a way a friend described as reminiscent of The Devil Wears Prada.
@teamnick‘s commentary back when she first started the show.
Serkan returns to his office for the first time in 2 months after working on business deals in London. Chaos ensues: Miranda Priestly is baaaaaaack.
See... here we have some good fashion choices! We meet the girls for the first time, while they try to sneak off to their graduation without making Eda feel bad that she won’t be receiving her diploma. Melek “Melo” is dressed in a sweet dress with a bold, romantic color, which captures her personality perfectly. Ceren, the rich daughter from a family of lawyers, looks a bit more high-fashion. The dress is short but it has long sleeves and no cleavage so it works out to be chic and elegant. Fifi is unapologetically herself with her full-black, punk wardrobe. Eda is again dressed in a pretty, but casual outfit. Nicely put together for her lower-middle-class lifestyle and her job as a florist.
Enter: the plot device to get our protagonists together. Serkan’s face says it all.
We are then introduced to the main couple’s respective cars. Serkan has his 2020 BMW (though the show blocks out the copyrighted branding) while Eda’s beat up SUV is clearly unreliable. What’s that? Another plot device being introduced? I have no idea what you’re talking about.
Also, I just noticed this, but for someone as uptight as Serkan, I’m surprised at how fun his suit jacket lining is. If I’m not mistaken the pattern is of a bunch of rainbow fish. #Snazzy, but they seem out of character?
Plot highlights:
Eda learns she can come back to school and finish her final year, but she’s lost her scholarship and will have to pay. She can’t.
Serkan gives his talk at the graduation (?)-- Is his talk just for architecture students? If so, why are Ceren, Fifi, and Melo there? We’ll never know. I know, I know... it’s all for the ~plot~
Eda calls Serkan out in front of everyone for taking away the scholarship that she earned from his company, Art Life. He is confused but unrepentant. She refuses to tell him her name.
She tries to deface his car with lipstick after keying the side (we never hear about the damage to his car after that). He catches her and wants to call the police, so she impulsively handcuffs them together with the plot devices from Selin’s wedding invitation sitting on his passenger seat.
They then have to go to Serkan’s urgent business meeting with an out-of-town client. Eda drives while they’re handcuffed together. Bickering ensues.
What is this? Foreshadowing? Symbolism?? Eda’s last name “Yıldız” is the Turkish word for “star” so... file that away for later.
One of my favorite parts about watching Turkish dramas is the experience of trying to decipher the fan translations. Add to the fact that Turkish only has 1 pronoun *chef’s kiss*
Eda refuses to take the elevator to the 15th floor (we’ll learn about her claustrophobia later). Serkan is equally as stubborn, saying she owes him for screwing up his day. But he has met his match in Eda with regards to stubbornness. They take the stairs.
More highlights:
First instance of fake dating - they need to hide the handcuffs from his client so Eda pretends she’s his girlfriend and a fellow investor.
The girls track Eda’s phone to the hotel and try to find her by asking around the premises.
Eda charms the client into selling his land to Serkan.
We learn that Serkan is allergic to strawberries and has a lot of health anxiety. He’s a very tightly wound person.
Serkan says “Mashallah,” translator hears 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Engin brings way too many people to open the handcuffs and chaos ensues.
I feel like nothing can do justice to the comedy of 58:45 to 1:00:00 with Fifi using a bobby pin as a lock pick. The dramatic editing is 👌🏼
Leyla gets fired for somehow causing this drama??? And she is so happy to leave that stressful workplace omg, we don’t deserve her 🥺
Serkan and Eda go their separate ways, Eda prepared to never see her enemy again, but of course her phone and purse are still in his car so she has to go to his office at Art Life and confront him again.
Serkan has found out that Whoops, Art Life did cancel the study abroad scholarships to cut costs, but his CFO did it without telling him. And Serkan is pissed, but I think mainly about the fact that Eda did have some (SOME) grounds for yelling at him in public.
Leyla then explains the nonsensical reasoning behind her being fired-but-not-fired and still working. (Spoiler alert: she never goes anywhere and she is my favorite side character to this day).
Eda: “How can I piss Serkan off?” Leyla: “Find a mistake he’s made and he will fixate on it forever. But you won’t find anything.” Eda: “Hold my beer.”
Eda walks into Serkan’s office and his meeting. She gets her purse back and they fight about him not being willing to apologize for ruining her life and education. He refuses and says she owes him an apology for embarrassing him in public (no, dude).
He wants to give her back the scholarship and make it all go away but she rightly tells him that it won’t fix her broken pride from begging the company and her university for a second chance. But somehow her calling him a heartless “Robot” is what gets to him???? And he short-circuits. Eda walks out triumphant.
~dRaMa!~
MEANWHILE
Melo, as well as being a perfume sales girl, also works as a flight attendant and wants Eda to cover her shift (we’ll get into how that doesn’t make sense in a minute)
Eda says no, she’s going to meet her boyfriend, Cenk, who she hasn’t seen in months and has just returned from Italy.
Enter: Selin. Serkan’s ex who he dumped a while ago and is now engaged to the heir of a hotel empire. Serkan doesn’t like this. The two of them grew up together and are set to each inherit 50% of the holding company that Serkan’s father currently runs.
Right away Selin serves us with a gender reveal level color scheme. Personally not a fan. They confirm that Serkan is coming to her engagement party tomorrow.
Meanwhile Eda meets up with Cenk. Her outfit is still reasonable and cute for her character. He looks mildly like a hobo and doesn’t seem to have anything going for him (I know he’s a throwaway character but the two of them really don’t have anything in common).
This creeper keeps staring at them, but Cenk tries to explain it away and says he’s busy and can’t meet her again until the day after tomorrow. Eda is disappointed but accepts this. Creeper girl remains and remains a red flag to viewers, but apparently not to Eda.
Cut to later that evening, and of course our broody main man enjoys astronomy in his free time (???) idk what he’s charting and to what purpose but okay?
Eda finds a mini first aid kit in her purse that Serkan put there before returning it. Queue montage of them treating their respective wrists for handcuff-related injuries. #couplegoals
Of course we also needed a sepia-toned flashback to earlier that day when the handcuffs contrived their faces to get too close together. #romance
Finallyyyyyyy it’s morning again and a new day.
Since Eda can’t see Cenk (good, he’s so boring), she agrees to fill in as a flight attendant for Melo, who’s side job is for a private plane company.
Now. This should not be a thing. Eda was in college to be a landscape architect and now works as a florist for her aunt... Where has she learned any relevant skills to work as a flight attendant?? Presumably nowhere. And I really don’t think a private plane company would be so easygoing about just having a random person fill in to cover for her friend?
But does this show care about that? What do you think...
Also, instead of the standard white shirt, black skirt uniform requirements, the girls decide that this skimpy dress and heels is fine? Hmmm
Also lol @ Melo for assuming that the client who wants jasmine tea and fruit salad is probably a woman. And her telling Eda that the PRIVATE JET COMPANY would in fact have its own tea was very random and unnecessary.
Back at the Bolat house compound, we meet the parents: Aydan and Alptekin. We’ll see them again later. Selin’s engagement party is today.
Meanwhile Eda is just.... being a flight attendant, I guess??? And who could possibly be the passenger she has to take care of? Take a wild guess. Of course it’s Serkan Bolat.
And of course that tiny dress (THAT ALSO HAS A LEG SLIT?? WHY?? I really don’t need to see her vagina) looks very practical and professional... not! (Hande Erçel is a gorgeous human, and the dress looks good on her, don’t get me wrong. BUT THIS IS SITUATIONALLY INCORRECT ATTIRE). Also him just folding his vest and then social distancing from it... K? 😂
Eda panics and doesn’t want Serkan to see her and runs away back to her seat pod thing - Serkan takes issue with his fruit salad for ~plot reasons~ (EDIT: I’ve been informed that it’s because there was a strawberry in his fruit salad and since he’s allergic, of course it needed to be fixed. Why doesn’t the plane have a note of that??) and comes back to find this mystery flight attendant.
Eda is very stressed out about this encounter and is also starting to have a panic attack because, surprise, she’s also claustrophobic.
After Serkan calms her down, they have a cute/civil conversation for the rest of the flight.
When they land, Eda realizes they’re on an island 2h45min away from Istanbul and she isn’t sure what to do with herself (How did she not already know where they were going, as the FLIGHT ATTENDANT??? So may red flags with this private jet company).
Serkan convinces Eda to come with him and she can hang out at the beach while he’s at Selin’s engagement party.
At the engagement party we finally meet Selin’s fiancé Ferit. He’s sweet and non-threatening and clearly insecure about Serkan being Selin’s ex.
This dress/skirt outfit Selin is wearing isn’t terrible, but it doesn’t scream rich socialite to me. Anything with feathers seems... a bit tacky/too showy? Like someone pretending to be rich? Idk, this outfit isn’t one I’m going to really take a stand on.
Does this engagement party warrant being a 2h45 min flight away? No. They try to explain it away as the couple wanting to have something small and private, even though they also invite the press?? But okay whatever, as long as Serkan and Eda cross paths again, I suppose.
Kaan Karadağ has been mentioned a couple times in passing, but now we finally meet our “villain.” Ferit’s friend, and Serkan & Selin’s childhood acquaintance, who has it out for Serkan bc he somehow bankrupted Kaan’s dad? Idk and I don’t really care but tl;dr they’re enemies.
Another thing I love about Turkish dramas is the censoring. Like, they’ll allow alcohol to be on screen, but they won’t say the word and they’ll just blur out the bottle and any liquid that we’d assume is alcoholic 😂
In the evening, Serkan is tired and wants to leave and Ferit snidely jokes about how Serkan is too picky to have a fiancé of his own. Serkan flashes back to 1 entire day ago when he and Eda pretended to be dating at his business meeting, and says that actually he is engaged to someone and then peaces out.
Serkan finds Eda on the beach, and they are preparing to leave when a crowd of people (Selin, Ferit, and Kaan mainly), arrive to get a peek at Serkan’s new “fiancé.” Eda very reluctantly plays along (good thing she has that unnecessarily sexy “work” dress to help her look the part) and Serkan notices that for the first time ever, Selin is jealous of another woman. #drama
After they finally escape the crowd, Serkan makes an annoyed Eda an offer: Pretend to be his fiancé for the 2 months leading up to Selin’s wedding so he can get them to break up and prevent Ferit marrying into the company. In return, he will pay all the fees to help her complete her last year of studies in Italy.
Eda refuses, stating that she doesn’t want anything from him, and besides she has a boyfriend (Sure Jan; Cenk is such a joke). They have it out and then fly back to Istanbul. But of course the gossips at the engagement have spread the news of Serkan’s new woman so the paparazzi corner them at the airport when they land.
So glad that we got to see this random mechanic find out the news (???)
They escape the cameras and Serkan takes her home, saying that Art Life has a press conference tomorrow, and she should come so he can save face and tell everyone that she was his assistant accompanying him for work to the party. Eda agrees.
It should also be mentioned that Serkan still doesn’t know her name at this point?? She refused to tell him and Engin still hasn’t sent him the names of the scholarship candidates so it’s a bit miraculous that their relationship was at all believable.
The next day, Cenk wants to meet but Eda has to go to the press conference. The girls come too for whatever reason, and Melo is convinced that Cenk wants to propose. Eda just lets that fantasy take hold (why tho?), and Cenk shows up unexpectedly right before the press conference and takes Eda into the nearby hotel’s cafe so they can talk.
Eda seems ready for a proposal (they haven’t seen each other or really communicated in months??) but Cenk wants to break up. Eda is shocked (???) but then Cenk mentions that he has a new girlfriend from Italy that he adores, and oh by the way, it’s the creepy girl from the other night who also happens to be here right now?
Okay fine, I guess??? Cenk: “She’s doesn’t speak Turkish” Girlfriend: *clearly a Turkish actress*
Eda is upset that he brought his jealous girlfriend with him to break up with her and says something about how actually, she’s seeing Serkan Bolat now (maybe it’s just me being someone who doesn’t follow tabloids, but are business people really that popular in every day society where everyone knows who they are?). Cenk laughs at Eda, saying that everyone wants to be with Serkan Bolat, and that she’s bluffing.
Eda makes an impulsive decision, and walks away, over to where Serkan has started the press conference. And seals their fate as fake dating in the public eye.
Queue confetti. No really.
And there we have it. That’s the episode!
In all seriousness, it’s a pretty great pilot, especially for a romcom. It hits all the right beats, includes enough tropes, and tells us a lot about what we should expect in the episodes going forward. And no matter how much I make fun of it, I really do enjoy this show! It’s been such a nice distraction from Current Events. I’ve spent a lot of time watching these episodes just saying “oh my god” out loud to myself as I watch all of the cute/romantic gestures that give me a lot of second hand embarrassment (I forget that PDA makes me kinda uncomfortable 😂).
There wasn’t actually that much terrible fashion in this episode, which I didn’t notice until my rewatch. If I continue with this series of posts, I’m hoping they’ll end up being less plot-centric, and more about the situationally inappropriate outfits and strange subtitling choices.
See you next time?

Rambling Review Episode 29
I have been trying to write this review since Monday and I would like to think my thoughts are more organised now, but if you are looking for a logical, analytical and insightful review this wont be it, my brain is still jumbled after that episode!!
Lets start at the cabin....seriously Serkan Bolat, hypochondriac who takes his pulse after coughing at the flower shop is going to stay in a remote cabin, with no obvious means of transport and communication? He should be in the city near medical facilities after his serious crash and head injury. This is where you realise he has been isolated for a reason, so no one can visit or call him and put thoughts in his head. Selin has created a perfect hideaway where he only hears her side of the story about Eda, and so the brainwashing begins. Its unclear how long they have been there, i assume a few weeks, but this is long enough to get inside someone’s head and create a scenario, particularly when there are no other conflicting opinions and you have no memories of the person. Selin is not happy about his decision to go back to Istanbul as she knows his friends may tell a different story to hers about Eda.
Engin is grieving for his best friend, so i loved their reunion, Serkan had a huge grin on his face and was also happy to see him. Serkan told Efe i have only got 3 friends, Engin Pryll and Sirius, and those were the ones that got the biggest welcome.
When they all looked behind him as Eda appeared they honestly thought they were going to see a beautiful reunion and were all smiling
This was an iconic scene, (yeah i cried), Eda walking slowly towards Serkan and the nod from Selin confirming this was Eda. Touching his face as she does so often, making sure he is real and then as expected fainting, I am sure i heard Serkans heartbeat as he caught her. What was more heartbreaking was that Selin, who has her phone glued to her hand most of the time, never bothered to show him a photo of Eda while they were in that cabin. Ugh i hate this woman so badly. I noticed that Serkan did not have a phone during this episode, so obviously lost at sea?? So how did he call Selin, this is something i still don’t understand, even if he used someone elses phone, he would not know her number by heart i am sure.
Serkan telling her ”” Today is the first day i have seen your face”” and “”you are a stranger to me”” was harsh words to hear, and Handes acting here was superb, we really felt her pain. There has been alot of complaints about Serkan and the way he treated Eda here, but we never really knew robot bolat, we saw him the day he met Eda, and things started changing in him soon after that. We know Leyla called him her executioner, and we saw how he took care of Kaan when he took one of the projects from them. he is ruthless, emotionless and logical in business. And Eda as far as he is concerned is business, she owns 45% of her company, and he thinks he has been manipulated and blinded by her in order for her to get the shares. She made him look like a fool in front of his family and friends and he wont let her do it again. We really have no idea at this stage what lies Selin has told
Loved the handcuff scene, Serkan driving Edas car was a sight i never expected to see!
Eda coming to his house showing him photos was heartbreaking, he refused to even look at them and just kept saying it wasn’t him, he really has put a wall up and wont listen to anything she says. I was glad to see Engin supporting Eda to him, reminding him he also loved her and she had a right to be angry after what she has gone through in the last 2 months. I did feel sorry for Serkan here, he really has got information overload from everyone and he keeps saying he cant remember. “Does Selin mean something to you?’, and all he can say is she is the only one in his life that hasn’t changed and therefore represents a safe place for him while he is recovering. He has never loved Selin, he has made that very clear to her in the past, so nothing has changed. She does a good job at work, doesn’t put demands on him and it is basically a business relationship. There is no affection between them or chemistry, his heart belongs to Eda
I think Eda coming to his house has stirred up something and i am sure we saw flashbacks in the fragman of him sitting there among the photos looking sad. The next day at Aydan house, he keeps looking at her and looking away, He is drawn to her and is fighting the feelings.
As @lizacstuff reminded us in her brilliant review, Serkan said “If I lived a hundred times I would fall in love with you a hundred times”, he does not have to remember Eda in order to fall in love with her, and frankly makes for a beautiful story if this is what they are going to show us
I really cant wrap my head around Selin and her evil mind. Surely she realises Serkan will get some memories back and when he does she is out of the door. But she seems to think he will still choose her! This is not just about Serkan its also about her getting revenge on Eda, she does not want her to be happy, and at the moment she is firmly in control of Serkan while his memories are still gone. Its interesting that Serkan has made no mention to her of the images he is getting of a woman in a yellow dress, as I am sure this would panic Selin as she knows exactly what he is talking about.
I liked that Ferit warned her not to get too used to the situation, and she was swimming in dangerous waters, and in typical Selin bitch style she saw Ceren coming and asked him if he was jealous of her. This woman is manipulating everyone who she thinks has wronged her and the worse she becomes the better her downfall will be and please can Eda be there for this one.
The final scene of Eda walking in to the cafe was perfect. She knows the effect she has on Serkan and she made sure she was late so everyone would notice Of course his circuits started smoking and he got some flashbacks, unfortunately he never see the face of the woman in them so does not know if it is Eda. When she went to him and his heart starting aching she knew then that his heart remembered their love. The kiss completely confused him as he definitely felt something, and in his panic he did the logical thing in his mind and proposed to Selin. And what an awkward speech that was, he stumbled through it and said Selins name while looking at Eda. Yes it was cruel, but in his mind, he wanted to shut everything down and make sure he was clear about not having any feelings for her. He didn’t fool any of us!
Aydan....i am shocked that she hid the news of Serkan being alive from Eda, and also shocked that she did not bring him home, it makes no sense and just shows the depth of Selins manipulation, she is controlling everyone at he moment.
Dennis is lovely, has been such a support to Eda, and will definitely cause some jealous scenes with Serkan
The acting this week from the lead characters was amazing, they never disappoint. The long hours they put in day after day to bring us this brilliant show makes me in awe of them
What i want to see in Episode 30
Small details, big difference - this is going to the the theme
We know we are getting the yellow dress, and i have the feeling that this will not be Edas idea. Maybe she decides at the last minute to go to the party and asks Melo to bring her an outfit to the office for her. Or if it is her idea, I hope she leaves her coat on until she is in front of Serkan, for maximum effect. Dancing with Dennis in that dress will definitely being back jealous robot.
The colour changing mug needs to come back, I am hoping Seyfi has brought it to the house, or they go to the Art Life apartment and use it there.
Sirius going for walks with both of them
We know Serkan has some injury to his right hand, but i think they will leave that for 31 perhaps
I want to see Eda change tactics and become distant, this will intrigue Serkan more
We have seen Engin asking Serkan is he not a bit curious about Eda, and here i am hoping that he does look into her life more
Aydan......wow you are going to have to work hard to get any kind of redemption, but she is someone Serkan listens to and trusts, so lets hope she steps up her game and we know Seyfi will always be helping push Serkan and Eda together again.
The girls have been a great support to Eda, and will continue to be, but with Serkan not knowing them it is hard for them to get him to see the real eda.
Sorry this turned out far longer that expected....congratulations if you got to the end!

Episode 13 Thoughts/Reactions While Watching
Spoilers under the cut
Does it suck that Selin got dumped on her wedding day? Yes it does. But I'm still proud of Ferit for deciding he is worth someone who loves only him.
"Secret handcuffs between us" omg I love it! 🤣🤣🥰🥰⛓
"To be honest I cannot part from you" *swoon*😍😍
"Sometimes love isn't enough," Eda girl what are you saying? Don't be thinking like that!
I love that he doesn't want to hide their relationship from everyone. He wants to proudly show the world that he is in love with an amazing, beautiful, talented and intelligent woman.
"Let it burn, chaos is good, it will make us stronger." This is so not the same Serkan from the beginning! She has changed him so so much and I love it!
But be wary of the chaos you so willingly embrace Serkan!
Ahhh thank goodness the girls know now! And they're all so happy for her!!!
Also Melo even knowing that Sirius missing her was just Serkan's excuse is adorable and I want her to tease him about that at some point lol!
Makes me miss my girlfriends!!😭😭🥰🥰
Eda! Just tell her!!!
I love that we are seeing more of Serkan spending time in his study in casual clothes. It's a more intimate look at home, surrounded by all his space stuff.
I understand Selin wanting to start a new life and get rid if her shares, but she should have spoken to Alptekin about it, sold him and Serkan the shares. Instead she sold it to a stranger.😡😡
The Head and Shoulders spots never cease to make me giggle. 🧴🚿
Glad that Aydan is realizing Eda's worth. Knowing she intentionally treated her poorly and Eda rose above it.
Ooo Serkan not pulling his punches! He is not wrong that this is what hes been saying for months. And ouch at the bringing up his brother and the past when he was sent off. These are clearly still raw subjects and memories for him.😢😢
Oofff I feel for Aydan on that moment. So frustrated with herself that even as Alpyekin is being taken to the hospital she cant leave to go with him.😢😢
The fact that Eda can tell something is wrong from just a few words.❤❤😢😢
Also Alptekin's heart problem is hitting close to home (my dad just had 4 stints put in his heart last month, one artery was 99% blocked and another was 98% blocked, his was from genetics not diet/exercise). So I really feel for Serkan dealing with everythimg and still feeling helpless/unable to do anything.😢😢😢❤❤❤
Have I mentioned how much I love Leyla? I love that she hugged him,and even though he didn't return the hug, you know that Serkan was touched.🥰🥰🥰🥰
Gossip lines all through the office! That was quick!
Serkan asking for help from them and Leyla and Erdem being shocked lmao 🤣🤣
Oh shit I forgot that Ferit was the one to set up the whole thing with Efe. So of course he would be there/around.
I'm still on Ferit's side having broken things off. I wish he had done it earlier, even minutes before the wedding would have been better than when they were all watching. But it took him until that moment to realize what he didnt want.
Lmao Efe would drive a fancy flashy red car. And of course be the opposite style boss of Serkan. 🚘
Oh Melo, maybe you can have him, keep him away from Eda and Serkan.
Aydan making Seyfi dig up all the info on Eda. And Seyfi being all team Eda
Oooo 6 months is a long time to put up with Efe and Ferit. Poor Serkan!
Lmao Melo is on a roll today! Calling Erdem out on his dating app lies to Fifi, and telling Leyla to back off the assistant position cause its hers lol!
Shit I didnt realize Ferit's shares came directly from Alptekin/Serkan's. Damn that splits it into two teams there.
"I cant breathe here without you." And "I'll be the air for you whenever you want" ugh these two romantics.😍😍😍😍
I love that Ayfer knows enough about Aydan to check on her. And that Aydan was touched by her being the only one to do so. They'll be friends that snipe at each other by the end I'm sure.
But OMG I'm dying at Aydan spilling the beans lmfao! The two of them being hysterical together is hilarious. 🤣🤣🤣
Oooo Eda you are in so much trouble with Ayfer!
Serkan giving Eda the chance to work with Efe cause he knows that she is an admirer of his work as well as he knows how talented Eda is. That love and trust!!!
Seyfi and his love for Eda and Edser!
Also Aydans reaction to the handcuffs, priceless. 🤯🤯
Awww yay Ferit and Ceren! They both deserve someone who loves them!!
Yaass Jealous Serkan reappears! Serkan you are not subtle, Efe definitely knows something is going on between you and Eda!🤣🤣😍😍
I love that not only was Serkan willing to talk, but then made her promise that they still would since the meeting interrupted them.
Aydan is going to smother Alptekin with her caring and attention!
A sweet romantic lunch for two in the office, Serkan you romantic robot! 🤖❤
And saying the office will find out soon enough anyway!!
And he ordered her food she loves, and that he won't eat!🥰
Omg Eda feeding him fries lmao! Fries are impossible to resist Serkan! 🍟❤
Lmfao all the doors open! He's keeping an eye on Efe and Eda!
Serkan is just so romantic with his "how are you real?" And wanting to just runaway and have it be only the two of them, three if you count Sirius! (My romantic husband has often suggested running away just us two, and the cat of course. It is always a tempting offer).
Serkan telling his parents is gold. He is so matter of fact and straight forward. Saying he wants things to happen fast.
"A womans dreams should not be limited to a man." Ayfer isnt wrong, but in Eda and Serkan's case, Serkan has been supportive of her dreams every step of the way!
Ooo Aydan and Ayfer plotting together lmao that's just trouble there. Eda and Serkan are too stubborn to be swayed by your ploys!
Lmao at Serkan saying "Even the cats run away!" With the cats loudly meowing.😹😹😹
His don't leave me grip on her hand lol. Good lord Ayfer that list lmao. He would have been doing some of it anyway just by being around. But him confirming that he will do whatever she wants him to, for Eda *swoon*❤❤
The comment about it being obvious that she's Eda's aunt lol
Poor Serkan will never get a kiss or hug with Ayfer blocking him! Ayfer you are making all of us suffer!!
Shaking Eda's hand and saying goodbye to the cats, priceless 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Awwww asking Eda to send photos of herself to him because he doesnt have them on his phone.🥰🥰🥰
"Then you are only mine," damn Serkan! 🔥🔥🔥🥵🥵🥵🥵
Ahh the old "here are all these ridiculous events that I will make you do, to prove that you couldnt hack it as a society wife," ploy.
Serkan will likely put his foot down on some of Aydan's demands, just as Eda will with some of Ayfer's demands.
Oh Erdem let's see how this plays out.
Efe I dont trust you, and Ferit stop giving him all the inside info!!
Serkan walking in holding Eda's hand! 🤖❤
Lmfao at Piril calling Engin and yelling at his voicemail that even Robot Serkan comes in holding his love's hand. I'm dying!!
Leyla telling Serkan she still wants to work for him. He may not openly demonstrate affection for his employees but he takes care of them where it counts (I've never had a boss care about me or my family like that). ❤❤❤
He's just more introverted and quiet in how he shows affection (which is what makes his love with Eda so important and different. He's going outside his comfort zone for her!)
That's 2 Leyla hugging Serkan moments!!!!🥰🥰
Piril isnt wrong about needing to do all or nothing with the project. She's blunt of course but it's the truth.
I dont think Efe is lying when he talks about Eda's talent, but he is laying it on a bit thick. 🙄🙄
Oh Eda you are letting everyone elses talk get to you! Dont listen to them! You know Serkan supports and loves you!!
Erdem you are in for it now with Fifi!
Damn those curtains!! Also it appears to be very very windy there lmao 🌬
Why is Engin in the police station lol! (I know that Anil wasn't feeling well so they had to come up with an excuse, but the police Station really?)🤣🤣
Omg Serkan you're going to make me and Eda cry! You got a house and an office?! And talking about eating her favorite ice cream and going to the libraries (be still my heart, that's how you get me too,ice cream and libraries!).😍😍😍😍😍😍
"I cannot live without you" *swoons* 😍😍
Ummm why do I suspect that Efe is working for Eda's Grandmother? Because that didnt sound like an "okay team, come on over" call. That was a "the pieces are in place, we await your move" phone call. Eda may not want revenge, but Grandma probably does. 🔪🔪♟♟
Oh God I cant handle Serkan crying! 😭😭😭😭
And he has to tell Eda, he cant keep this from her, and God it's tearing him up knowing that it's his family's fault her parents died.😢😢😢

OWL HOUSE X CTHULHU MYTHOS XVII:
“Grrr....what happened? Where are we?”
Amity’s eyes were caressed with the sudden brightness of the sun. Something felt odd about the situation she found herself in, but she could not put her finger on it. Blaring sounds made her ears tremble. Around her were odd structures extending from the ground and nearly the sky. Her hand probed its surroundings. She had fallen on some hard, rocky material. The fall had kicked the wind out of her lungs, but she trudged forward to get on her legs.
Even then, her legs felt peculiar. Her knees wobbled and became interlocked. She looked around to see if Luz landed somewhere close to her. “Luz?”
Beep, beep.
Before Amity could realize it, a red car was blaring right into her direction. Amity’s legs locked up and she froze there like a deer caught in headlights. More cars were coming down on both sides of what Amity could now see was the road. Amity held her hands up to summon magic from her bile sac, but it was of no use.
“Amity! Look out!”
Amity was tackled and pushed off the road just in the nick of time. The driver of the red vehicle temporarily stopped and shook his fist angrily at Amity. “Watch where you’re going, ya fool!”
Black, suffocating smoke seeped through his exhaust pipe when he slammed on the gas break. His tires left a long, continuous streak of black lines. Amity opened her eyes again seeing that she was now being carried in the arms of another girl. She had braided, black hair, golden eyes, and a green jacket. She grinned, revealing that there was a gap between her teeth. “You don’t run into traffic like that, Amity.”
“How do you know my name?” Amity asked. She couldn’t help but feel that the voice sounded eerily similar.
“It’s me, Luz, silly,” the woman replied.
Amity looked down at her hands finally seeing that she was in a different body as well. She jumped out of Luz’s arms and made a dash towards one of the windows of a building. Fully expectant of seeing her own reflection, instead, her eyes were taking mental notes of a girl with short brown hair, glasses, and a yellow skirt and white top. “Who’s that supposed to be, Luz?”
“It’s you,” Luz noted.
“How is this possible?” Amity asked.
“When we fell, our souls must have gotten into some bodies.” Luz darted her eyes in different directions. “Hypnos said that he would get the rat for us, but where is he?”
Amity shrugged her shoulders. “I guess we’ll have to find him.”
The two took hold of a hand and walked together. Vehicles bolted down the road accompanied by people chatting away about different, mundane topics or just about anything to keep the discussion going without hitch. Much like back in Bonesborough, there were a few stands with considerably odd products. Amity stopped in front of a food stand and stared at the strange delicacies. Blood red fruit; yellowish, pill-like serpentines. A sweet-smelling scent of hairy fruits. A nectarine aura radiated from them. Amity’s stomach growled. Just looking at the odd fruits was enough to make her hungry.
“Hungry, aren’t ya?”
Amity covered her stomach in embarrassment. “No, I’m not.”
Luz chuckled and reached for one of the hairy fruits. “This is a real juicy one right here.”
“What is it?” Amity inquired. Luz and the owner of the stand looked her over in bewilderment. “Anyway, I’ll take two of these.”
The owner nodded and wrapped the two fruits in plastic before placing them in a bag. He then figured out the amount for the produce with the tax. Luz felt around in the back of the woman’s pocket and pulled out a wallet. Opening it, she retrieved the money for the two fruits and gave it to the man.
“Thanks for doing business,” the man said, “but be sure to keep that friend of hers from getting run over.”
Luz and Amity trudged their way a few more meters before making a stop at a bench. Luz motioned for the witch girl to sit down which she does on instinct. Luz opened the bag and reached in to produce one of the fruits. “I know you don’t have these on the Boiling Isles.”
“What is this thing?” Amity inquired. She held the odd fruit in front of her face and sniffed it. “Smells good too.”
“That, my dear friend, is a peach,” Luz explained, “it’s hairy, but it is a really sweet fruit.”
Amity eyeballed the fruit curiously before taking a bite from it. The nectar-like juices dripped down from her mouth. “You’re right; this is good.”
Luz took a napkin and wiped Amity’s mouth. “Don’t talk with your mouth full.”
“T-thanks,” Amity blushed. She took her eyes off Luz and scanned the surroundings. “So, this is the human world.”
Luz’s eyes sparkled. “I’m sure you’ll love it here. Why not after we take down Nyarlathotep and Belos we could have a sleepover with my Mami?”
Amity with Luz? Spending a night together? In cute pajamas? Cuddling? Steam fizzled from Amity’s ears. But she couldn’t shake the feeling of uncertainty. “So....is the Earth safe?”
Luz raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?”
“Just that...I was always taught that the people of Earth were savage, merciless heathens who would wage war on each other over the most trivial of plights. Humans were these disease-ridden rats who would turn on each other for profit and were never meant to learn magic as it would only further their mindless heathenism and violence.”
Luz felt her chest tense up from the sensation of being stabbed with an invisible knife. “Wow...that’s deep.”
Amity looked at Luz with surprise. “So that is true?”
Luz rubbed the back of her head. “Well, on the most technical of terms..but there are also instances of human kindness and understanding.”
“I see.” Amity turned away. “The Emperor had always told us that humans were warmongers that could not be trusted. I guess some of that did manifest when I challenged you back at the witch convention.”
“Don’t worry, Amity,” Luz assured her, “I don’t take any personal offense towards your assumptions. Lilith pretty much had to learn that lesson as well after she had become a roommate.”
Amity sighed in relief that Luz was not offended by the conditioned prejudices she was indoctrinated with. “I do have to say that there are so many interesting sights here; no wonder Eda collected all this stuff.”
Luz smiled. “Y’know, I did see a shop close to the park.”
“You did?”
“Yeah; something tells me that Hypnos is there.” Luz shrugged. “It kind of fits his mysterious aura.”
Amity nodded. “Yeah; the strange magic man might have already felt we forgot about him.”
They threw the seeds of the peaches into a trash can and walk in the direction of the store. Sure enough, it was exactly how Luz described it: it was a small, square store decorated with an eerie green paint which was chipping away in flakes exposing the splintery wooden boards underneath. The shop was placed impossibly between two large buildings. Grass grew around it into long, spindling strands that wedged into the foundation of the shop. A fern tree covered the roof to form a canopy. From the tiny specks of light, they could make out a few letters.
“Is this the right one?” Amity asked.
“Well, it said that it was located on 1300 Arkham Drive,” Luz clarified, “so it must be.”
They cautiously walked through the large columns of grass to get to the door. Inside of the workshop, it was impressively massive and grandiose. Much like the void they had entered through astral traveling, there were doors upon doors throughout the building. Doors of various sizes aligned the walls. On top of those passages were more doors. Along the staircases and the ceiling. Doors, doors. In every hard spot was one. To where the doors led they could not tell. After their trip through the void, they would rather leave it that way.
“About time you made it!”
They both turned their heads in shock and stared at a small man. His eyes were the size of dinner plates. He tilted his head making it apparent that it was the only comfortable way he could handle his large organs. His forehead was deeply filled with wrinkles upon wrinkles especially around his eyes. His hair was short and unkempt with its whiteness. The whiskers of his mustache curled in an upward spiral. His beard was long enough to reach the floor. He held up his wrinkled hand and skinny, bony fingers. He held a bust in his other hand. It greatly resembled him to some degree.
“Hypnos? Is that you?” Luz asked.
“In the flesh,” he chuckled, “well, this is my actual body.”
Amity crouched down. “But what about all that power you demonstrated?”
“Like I said, I jumped out of my body the moment I sensed Nyarlathotep’s return. But I had to keep the old man from getting eroded. Or eaten.”
As he said that, a small humanoid shape took form and walked on all fours from one of the doors. Its face was bereft of any describable orifices aside from the flashes of yellow, jagged teeth. For all intents and purposes, it made no sound even when its large, bat-like wings fluttered. Two horns pointed inward towards its head. Amity quickly shielded herself and Luz from the bat beast. “Step back, monster!”
Hypnos laughed until he felt himself wheezing. “Nekron, heel.”
Before the two girls’ confused eyes, the creature responded and sat down without issue on the ground. It wagged its barbed tail and its paws made a pitter-pattering sound on the floor. Hypnos took his hand and rubbed the side of the creature’s body. It had a slick, rubbery complexion to it. They could see now that the beast was smiling. A horrid, maniacal smile at that, but at the least it diminished a bit of the preexisting notions the girls had on it.
“What is he?” Amity inquired.
“A nightgaunt, my girl,” Hypnos replied, “a runt of the litter, really, but he is loyal.”
After petting Nekron, the nightgaunt stood up on its hind legs beside its master. Hypnos opened a small door to withdraw a tentacle. It was still moving about violently despite long being separated from its owner. Suction cups clicked on each other; slime trickled down his arm when he presented it to his pet. “Take.”
The nightgaunt obliged and grabbed the tentacle between its teeth before bolting past Hypnos and into one of the doors. Orange light emitted through the door and the nightgaunt disappeared. Hypnos directed the two girls to one of the other doors. This time, it was a large door of indescribable geometry. “Here is my actual workshop.”
Opening the door, they saw shelves containing jars. Each jar was filled with a yellow substance to preserve its contents. Eyes of different species and sizes; claws and teeth; ancient documents even. Hypnos took one of the jars and presented it to Amity and Luz. There was a brain inside of it.
“This contains the mind of what came to be called the Great Race of Yith. They were a race of aliens who could travel through all-time by swapping their minds with another race. They could project their consciousness through all space so they could learn about what other races did.”
He put the brain back on the shelf and withdrew another jar. It contained a small, amoeba creature. It was amorphous in appearance, but it changed its body accordingly to match the jar it was inside. It had roiling eyes and mouths alongside its pseudopodia. The hair on the back of Luz’s neck recoiled which made sense because the creature was focusing its many eyes on her.
“A shoggoth,” Hypnos answered, “started off as a servant-race created by another species to act as servants, but they turned against their masters.”
“You know, on the Boiling Isles we have servants too,” Amity pointed out.
“And what are they called?” Hypnos asked. He was mostly asking for the sake of asking without expecting an answer.
“Abominations,” Amity replied, “but they are made to never want to go against orders.”
Hypnos scratched his beard. “Who knows? Maybe some of those aliens discovered your world and subtly mixed their technology with your magic and those abominations you speak of could have been the descendants of this process.”
“This is all interesting and all, but please tell me that you did get the rat,” Luz said.
Hypnos smiled. “Of course; look on my desk.”
The human-faced rat was trapped underneath a small birdcage. The horn fracture it had stolen was on a far side of the desk. “It must have been stuck in the void for who knows how long.”
The two girls walked to the desk and observed the rodent. It shook its tail wildly whilst trying to figure out a method of escape. Hypnos grabbed a shriveled arm and held it over the cage. Wrapping his fingers around the wrist, blood trickled down from the base of the arm. The rat got up on its hind legs and greedily licked at the red liquid. It messily licked the blood from the corners of its mouth and continued to do so until it had its fill.
“That is gross,” Luz declared.
“Oh, it was just hungry is all,” Hypnos noted, “it eats witch blood.”
“W-witch blood!?” Amity screamed. She backed away from the rodent. “That thing could’ve bitten me and Luz back there.”
“The rat used to be a familiar that belonged to a witch, but it seems that the witch is long gone. But I did manage to get that horn it stole from you two.”
“We didn’t just come for the horn,” Amity added, “you know where that book is?”
“Yes, the Necronomicon, of course,” Hypnos replied, “I will fetch it for you two.”
He opened a drawer in his desk and withdrew a large book laced with a thickly-tacked on leathery material. “The original Necronomicon; the one that your ancestor, Luz, wrote all those years ago.”
He handed it to Luz. Luz looked it over sensing some dark presence within it. It came to her in the form of a whispery hiss spewing malicious intent. The book was heavily drenched in only the darkest and most unholy of dark spells that was likely inaccessible to the children of the Isles. This book, with its inhuman spirit and secrets, was not just evil: it was evil in its most pure, and incorruptible of forms.
“Does this book contain something on how we could kill Nyarlathotep or any god for that matter?” Luz asked.
“I would advise not looking into the contents of the accursed book,” Hypnos bluntly stated, “it contains information on not just the gods, but secrets of the universe itself.”
“If Nyarlathotep gets a hold of it, what then?”
“The Necronomicon was never meant to be read by anyone of this mortal plane; information on dark spells and how to cast them; bringing back the dead to act as your servants; sacrifices to the Old Ones and where these gods of old will once again return. The book must be destroyed at all costs.”
“That’s a good strategy,” Amity noted, “with no book, Nyarlathotep would still be without powers, so perhaps we can take him down.”
Hypnos nodded. “Luz, you are familiar with the old ways that magic was done on the Isles I presume?”
Luz nodded.
“Through those glyphs, the first witches were able to perform magic. Will you use them to destroy the book?”
Luz scratched her chin. It was a hard gamble: while it would be easier to read the book to figure out a way to kill Nyarlathotep, with no book at all, Nyarlathotep would still be at a disadvantage. If anything, they could temporarily block Nyarlathotep from enacting the rest of his plan until they could get him weakened enough to banish him. Luz shook her head.
“Of course.”
“How are we going to destroy it?” Amity tapped her foot to contemplate. “Well, we could burn it; do you have glyphs for fire, Luz?”
“That’s genius, Amity!” Luz proclaimed. “Hypnos, do you have some paper I could borrow?”
"Yes, this is Channel 8 News, and we have a story for you,” an anchorwoman announced.
Above the city, an insidious rip began to tear into the fabric of reality. The sky fell away in flakes as it widened further. Witnesses of the event stopped in their tracks to record what they were seeing to their social media accounts. Flaming balls descended from the rip and onto the buildings and vehicles.
“At approximately 3 in the afternoon, a large rip appeared over the sky, and now it appears that meteorites had fallen to the Earth. From what I am hearing, some of our top researchers had speculated that these meteorites could have come here through a ‘wormhole’ if you would call it as such.”
The balls were dispensed in highly populated areas. Smoke was bouncing off the odd balls emphasizing how intense the heat was around them. Much like any meteorite, the balls slammed into the earth’s crust and created craters around themselves. Much like before, bystanders were casually streaming live videos on the mysterious objects. A man with glasses knelt down at one of the craters.
“If you take notice of these meticulous details, this metal is unlike any I have seen before in my life.”
Despite protests from some of the surrounding people, the man leaned in closer for a better look. The ball glowed an ominous red and dematerialized. Before he could react, the ball became a metallic suit of armor and dragged him into the hole. The other balls followed suit and attacked the bystanders. The armor suits lumbered along, each painstaking step after painstaking step. They grabbed ahold of people and tossed them around with little thought of whether they were the targets they were after.
Vehicles were seized by the armor and smashed to miniscule, insignificant pieces. Attacks were launched at buildings with chunks of debris falling to the ground and onto people desperately trying to escape the damaged buildings. Soon legions of armored assailants made the ground quake. Small fires broke out converting the city into a wasteland. From the destruction wrought on the city, Odalia made her entrance. A large, black knight suit carried her weakened son in its arms. She looked into the staff’s gem for a message. Sure enough, the cloudy mist inside of the gem gave way to reveal Nyarlathotep in his Black Pharaoh form.
“Very excellent work, Odalia,” Nyarlathotep said.
Odalia felt her satisfaction bubble up her throat. “Yes, my lord; this is the place where the Necronomicon is located?”
“Aye, it is; in this city, your insolent child is trying to assist that human girl. They have a helper as well.”
Odalia smiled whilst clutching the staff in her hand. “I will give her a strong thrashing so that she could be of more use to you, Dweller in the Darkness.”
“I knew that I had selected the right vict-I mean servant,” Nyarlathotep replied, “once you retrieve the book and the girls, I will provide you the means of return.”
Nyarlathotep disappeared in the mist once the connection was cut off. She directed her attention towards the armor suits recklessly pulverizing the streets without rhyme nor reason.
“Lord Nyarlathotep had confirmed that we are in the right place! I don’t care if you have to tear this pathetic rock apart or crush a few rats underfoot: this is the beginning of a new age.”

If Luz Were Into Vocaloid Headcanons🎤💙🎤💙
What inspired me to make these was a yourfavlistenstovocaloid flag that had Luz on it! These were fun to do! Enjoy!🙂
• Come on, we all know that Miku would be her favorite!🎤💙
• She's a major nerd so she probably made stuff like AMVS, fan blogs, ships (Miku x Len and Miku x Luka are her fav ships), and fanart!
• She use to bump "World is Mine" in the car and loudly sang along to the song when her would Mom drive her to school. Her Mother was confused the whole ride.
• The song "Po Pi Po" is her ringtone.
• She cosplayed as Miku once at school.
• She always use to make Vocaloid references that no one in her school would ever get.
• She's been to a bunch of Vocaloid concerts.
• When Luz introduces Vocaloid to Willow and Gus, they automatically love it! I mean, who wouldn't love fictional humans who have cool hair colors, big eyes, and computerized voices!
• When Luz introduces it to Amity, Amity thinks the whole Vocaloid thing is okay. I mean, it's not like she made her own self insert oc and shipped her with Len and Kaito or anything.
• Luz wants to do an English cover of the song "Magnet" with Amity. When Amity discovers the English lyrics to the song, she's a bit embarrassed at first, but she's willing to give it a try, s-so as long as no one else hears them.
• When Luz introduces it to King, he's not that into it, but after listening to an hour of songs and watching a couple of videos with her, he soon starts to like it. His favorite "android human" is Len or "banana boy" as he likes to call him.
• When Luz introduces it to Eda, it doesn't really interest the owl lady all that much, but she will admit that she does like the lady with the red sleeveless jacket (aka Meiko). She's got that sorta sassy, rebellious, fun-loving aunt/mom vibe that Eda can't help but love.
• Luz has a karaoke party at the Owl House and invites Willow, Gus, and Amity there. Being that the party is vocaloid themed, how it works is that one or two people will get up on the fake cardboard stage and sing a song while the others in the audience cheer them on using glow sticks (sorta like a real Vocaloid concert). The only ones who are dressed up are Luz (who's cosplaying as Miku) and King (who's cosplaying as Len. Luz made the cosplay outfit for him and even made for him a little Rin plushie to go along with it.) Everyone seems to be having a blast at the party! Heck, even Hooty gets a chance to sing a couple of songs.

Was gonna do more Reincarnation AU, but I wanted a scene from the first lifetime to set some context. So here, have a sort of ‘jump back, jump ahead’ to Kel and Pride’s firstborn! (Doesn’t contain spoilers for how the actual main frat au plot arc will resolve, though). <3
“Babe, it’s not gonna fit,” Uthvir decides, actually a little winded, as Thenvunin lets out a frustrated sound and tries again.
The gigantic stuffed halla refuses to wedge itself any further into the backseat of their sedan, however. Its horns keep getting caught, and no matter how Uthvir tries to angle it from the other side, there’s just no way to squish the sheer bulk of it in without blocking the rear view more than their better sense would let them drive with. Thenvunin gives one last heave, trying to smush it down in a way that will at least let him close the door, and then finally seems to give up, too.
It’s his own fault, really.
Uthvir told him to go one size smaller.
“We’ll just take the truck,” they say, and not for the first time. “It fits in the truck.”
The truck in question is a relatively new acquisition, and no matter what Thenvunin says, Uthvir doesn’t think it’s actually a testament to some mid-life crisis on their part. It’s a good truck, particularly useful for driving out of the city, or hauling around ridiculously massive presents. Like giant stuffed halla. Uthvir doesn’t think the red is that dramatic, and in their defense, the flames were already painted along the sides when they got it.
“But what if we have to take the baby somewhere?” Thenvunin replies, slumping against the side of the sedan. He’s red-faced and winded, and as ever, that tends to make Uthvir think of other times when he tends to be red-faced and winded. His hair is braided back, and he’s wearing the ‘World’s Best Grandpa’ shirt that Pride gave him a couple weeks ago, as part of his ongoing efforts to get his father-in-law to glare at him less.
It was a smart move, Uthvir will grant.
“The car seat fits in the truck,” they say.
Thenvunin frowns.
“But the truck is too…” he says, gesturing vaguely. “It gets drafty in the cab.”
“It doesn’t,” they counter. Because it really doesn’t, the truck is new and very nicely insulated.
“Yes it does,” Thenvunin insists.
They let out a sigh.
“Well, then, if we need to take the baby somewhere, we can use Kel’s car,” they reason. “Or Eda’s.”
“Eda might not be there,” Thenvunin argues.
Uthvir just looks at him, at that. Their middle daughter has practically move in with Kel and Pride at this point. It’s looking to be a pretty steep competition over who will get to spoil the newest addition to their family more. Thenvunin is making a pretty obvious bid with the stuffed halla that’s taller than Uthvir is, and a lot of the kids are getting in on the action. Felasel was over the other day, still convinced that Kel named the baby after him and that this gives him ‘favourite uncle status’, despite Ileth holding a pretty clear lead thanks to the fridge full of pre-made meals he gave Kel and Pride as soon as the baby was born.
This kid is getting more attention and devotion than the Archon’s son, Uthvir suspects, and he’s not even old enough to hold his own head up yet.
Though in fairness, the premature birth had just about everyone on edge. Themselves not least of all.
Finally, Thenvunin relents in earnest.
“Alright,” he concedes. “We’ll take your truck.”
“Our truck,” Uthvir insists. “It’s a family truck.”
“Your truck,” Thenvunin counters. “I had nothing to do with that purchase, and neither did anyone else, for that matter.”
They roll their eyes.
“I can see you rolling your eyes,” their husband informs them, even though there’s no possible way he could, from over on the other side of the sedan.
“I just think that considering this truck is the only way you’re going to get your massive indulgence toy over to your grandson, you could be a little more accepting of it,” they reason, as they begin the process of getting the halla back out of the sedan. They’re going to have to move everything else they’re bringing, too, and get the sedan out of the driveway, so that they can back the truck down it. The little house they’re renting in Ferelden, just ten minutes of driving away from Kel and Pride’s place, is the only building on their block that even has a garage, and it’s a tight fit for it on the narrow lot anyway.
But Uthvir just drives the sedan out onto the street, and then helps move everything into the truck. Then they drive the truck out a little further down the street, and move the sedan into the garage, while Thenvunin runs back into the house to triple-check that they’ve remembered everything. Kel texts, and Uthvir admits that they’re going to be somewhat later than usual, but she assures them that everything is fine, and sends them another picture of their grandson. Currently nestled in his papae’s arms, still perilously small and fragile.
They’re staring at the latest photo when Thenvunin comes and taps on the window of the re-parked sedan.
“Everything alright?” he checks.
Uthvir nods, and hands him their phone so he can see the picture too. Thenvunin coos over it, and then it’s all they can do to move fast enough for him as he makes for the truck, hesitance all gone because he wants to see his grandson in a hurry, now. Uthvir drives, and Thenvunin uses his own phone to call Kel and announce that they’re coming – even though the drive really does take just ten minutes – and also to wonder if there’s anything else they should bring. They can hear their daughter’s voice on the other end of the line, fond and amused. It’s hard to tell how tired she sounds, though. Uthvir was exhausted for the first month after Virevas was born, and that was without any major complications involved. When Serahlin had Tonlen, which is probably the most comparable experience they can think of, everyone had pitched in because both mother and baby had needed so much recovery time.
“Did he sleep through the night?” Thenvunin asks.
They hear Kel laugh.
“Not even a little,” she admits, voice tinny through the phone’s receiver.
The house she and Pride have acquired is on a nicer lot than the one which Uthvir and Thenvunin are renting, but it isn’t very large, and it doesn’t have a driveway. It’s a very Fereldan sort of residence, with a brick wall shielding most of the garden and home from the street view, and a slanted, aged tile roof that Uthvir had triple-checked when the couple first moved in. It’s solid, though. There’s a small mabari statue by the mailbox, just a little stone carving that most of the houses on the street have, and some of Pride’s latest art projects drying out on the covered front porch.
Pride is also responsible, Uthvir knows, for the rich green paint on the front door, and the variety of odd lawn ornaments peppered throughout the front garden. In among the embrium and andraste’s grace, there are experimental wood and metal sculptures, and decorative boards, and clay pots. All painted. Pride’s ‘workshop’ is the renovated shed in the backyard, and despite Thenvunin’s tutting, he makes a fair amount of bonus cash from his hobbies. Enough so that they don’t have to help the couple cover their house payments anymore, even with Kel on maternity leave.
They knock, but since they’re expected, Uthvir doesn’t really wait before opening the front door.
The inside of the house is a bit of a mess.
Not really in the sense of being ‘unclean’, so much as in the sense of being very cluttered. Thenvunin’s halla barely fits into the front entryway, past the new pram and the shoe rack and a small pile of accumulated cardboard boxes, destined for recycling. There is baby paraphernalia practically everywhere, making the humble little seem all but overrun with it. Kel and Pride got doubles on a lot of supplies from well-meaning family, and part of Uthvir’s day is sectioned off for the simple act of ferrying the extra toys and crib mattresses and change tables and car seats and whatnot to the alienage daycare in the lower city.
Not that this has stopped Thenvunin from bringing his own continual stream of offerings. Though, apart from the massive halla, most of what they’ve brought are things like disposable wipes and baby-safe detergent and things which Kel had requested.
“Oh for... really…?” Pride’s voice reaches them, lost from the other side of the halla.
“Well, I hadn’t gotten him a toy yet,” Thenvunin declares, defensive now.
That’s a blatant lie, but Uthvir supposes that they are now solely responsible for all previous toy gifts.
“Papae,” they hear Kel say, with a note of fond amusement.
“Kel!” Thenvunin declares, shoving forward and forcefully depositing the halla into Pride’s arms. Which merits a solid ‘oomph’, as the thing is heavier than it looks, and somehow Uthvir thinks Thenvunin is not being as gentle with it as he could be. Pride staggers back, and they finally clear the entrance. Thenvunin is already hugging Kel by then, fussing over her in his usual way; Uthvir gives her a careful once-over. She’s in a soft shirt and shorts, and looks tired, but not exhausted, at least. She hasn’t bothered to put on her prosthetic. Pride has some bags under his eyes and baby powder on his elbow, and his hair is out of its usual ties.
They move past him, on a hunch, making for the little living room. Technically the living room is part of an addition that was put onto the house by its previous owners, who attempted some renovations – several of which were abandoned, and subsequently finished by Kel, mostly last year. The room is a pleasant space, with a skylight and high windows that do their best to make the most of Ferelden’s limited sunlight. There’s a small television set, often defeated by the subsequent glare that pours in from most corners of the room, and several large, comfortable couches; and Pride’s taste very evident in the decorations, and the bold splashes of colour on the walls.
Eda is sprawled on one of the couches, with her tiny nephew resting in her arms.
Uthvir feels a rush of warmth come over them. The kind that pushes Fear back, into little more than nervy whispers over how small and fragile their grandson is. He looks so much like Kel. But his eyes, when he blinks them open, are still pale, and they wonder if they will stay that way. Like his father’s.
For her part, Eda also looks like she didn’t get much rest the night before.
Uthvir brushes a hand over her head, and then over the baby’s. Fenasal. Trust Pride to name a child for wolves.
“Morning, Nanae,” Eda offers.
“Have you had breakfast?” they ask.
She wrinkles her nose.
“I just woke up,” she admits. “Puppy here had a crying jag last night.”
“Hm,” they reply, and reach, gently, for their grandson. “Go eat, then. Time for everyone to have a break while the grandparents take over.”
Eda grins, and Fenasal makes a tiny noise, as Uthvir settles him into their own arms.
“You just want a turn,” their daughter accuses.
They don’t deny it, only offering a shrug, before they press a kiss to their grandson’s head. He is too small. His lungs are still a cause for concern, just as they’d been with Tonlen. And they think he would have been a tiny baby anyway, just like his mother. Except he has more hair. Dark curls all around the top of his head.
Eda gets up, with a sigh, and Uthvir sinks into one of the living room chairs.
Fenasal blinks up at them.
“Good morning, Baby Blue,” they say, and brush his cheek with their finger. He wriggles a little, lost in the soft fabric of his onesie, and they pat him until he settles again. The small outfit has Olwyn’s tastes written all over it. They think they remember it from Kel’s baby shower, in fact. There are little paw prints on the feet, and tiny dog ears on the matching hat.
They fiddle with one, making soft, soothing sounds under their breath.
They’re not totally surprised when they look up, and are immediately greeted by the sight of Kel and Thenvunin both taking pictures of them with their phones.
“How many have you two taken by now?” they ask. Through the archway leading into the hall, they can see Pride struggling to try and get the giant halla up the stairs, and in the general vicinity of the nursery.
“Hardly enough,” Thenvunin insists.
“Fifty-two,” Kel admits. “I want more than one of him with everybody who loves him.”
Thenvunin nods in firm agreement with that plan, and Uthvir can only shake their head. Fondly. It’s not like they won’t get copies of them all, anyway. They can act like they’re somehow above the concept, although it’s difficult to hold onto any air of superiority, with Fenasal’s warm little body nestled in their arms.
“Does he need to eat?” they check, as Thenvunin moves alongside the chair. Hovering, and looking at the baby.
“No,” Kel assures them, shaking her head. “He just had his breakfast. I was going to take a shower, but I wanted to wait on you two first.”
They nod in understanding.
“Go shower,” they say. “Take a breather. Eat some breakfast, cuddle your husband. We can watch him for now.”
“Should we have stayed last night?” Thenvunin worries.
Kel shakes her head.
“There were three of us, Papae, it’s not like we were shorthanded. It just would have meant that nobody got any sleep because of fretting over him,” she reasons, and leans over to give her father’s cheek a kiss. And then she comes over, and Uthvir leans forward to press on to her, in turn. Freeing a hand up from Fenasal to curl it around her, so they can hold their daughter and their grandson at once.
It is a very nice moment.
Kel kisses Fenasal, and them, and then finally seems content enough to go and take her shower. Uthvir can feel the release of some nameless fear in her; she trusts them to look after her son, to the point where it steals their breath for a moment, and there is one consternated instant as Fear tries to process the sentiment.
Something in them, just ever-so-slightly, shifts.
But not in a way that Uthvir can really describe. And a moment later, Kel is going, and they can hear Eda in the kitchen, and Thenvunin settles down on the floor beside the chair they’ve claimed. Leaning in to brush his grandson’s head and kiss hi cheek, which prompts more wriggling from the baby in question.
“I think he’s a little sick of everyone’s affection,” Uthvir muses. “All these presumptuous people showering him in kisses. What a trial.”
“Nonsense,” Thenvunin counters. “He’s just bashful.”
They chuckle, and Fenasel looks at his grandfather, and flails a tiny arm in his direction. Between those curls and those eyes, Uthvir thinks he’s going to be a heartbreaker when he gets older.
Uthvir hangs onto him for as long as they can. Until Thenvunin starts making jealous noises, and then they finally relinquish him to his grandfather. By then Kel has finished her shower, and she and Eda are flopped over the master bed, eating what looks like Ileth’s pre-packed breakfast sandwiches and talking quietly among themselves. They tap on the doorframe to tell Kel that her father has her son, and then commandeer Pride to help them load up the truck with everything they need to take down to the alienage.
They’re in the midst of that when another car pulls up along the street. Small and silver, and they watch as Ashokara’s horns appear out of the passenger side, and then Melarue glides over to the front walk.
Pride stiffens like a student whose contraband-laden locker is about to be submitted to a surprise inspection.
“Melarue,” Uthvir greets, and finishing putting a spare bassinet into the back of the truck. “Ash.”
“Hey Nabae!” Ashokara greets.
“Is Kassaran not with you?” they check, and nudge Pride into handing them the box of disposable diapers. He and Kel have settled on using the cloth ones, but someone in the alienage will likely make good use of the extras.
“Mama’s tour doesn’t end for another week,” Ashokara admits. Melarue nods towards them, but carries past them, zeroing in on the door like an elf with a mission. It’s their first time actually visiting since Kel gave birth, by Uthvir’s count. They’re probably more eager to see their great-grandchild than they’d like to let on.
“Is she coming then?” they wonder.
“Should be,” Ash agrees. “What are you up to?”
They explain, and after a few minutes, Ashokara volunteers to help. That frees up Pride to go inside and make himself nervous over Melarue interacting with his son. Uthvir can feel his overall nervousness about it, even though his fears don’t seem concretely defined. He just seems to find Melarue vaguely ominous. Poor man’s probably got better instincts than he realizes; he was jumpy around Uthvir for several months, too.
Not that they, admittedly, didn’t give him some small reason to be.
“The way I figure it,” Ashokara says. “If I go in now, I’ll just be competing with Nanae to see the baby. But if I do it later, when everyone’s sleepy, then I’ll have better odds.”
“Good thinking,” Uthvir agrees. “And in the meantime, you can come with me to the daycare center. Should still be lots of little babies there.”
“You’re kind of brilliant, Nabae, have I ever told you that?” Ashokara asks, bouncing a little on the balls of her feet before heading for the passenger side of the truck.
“It’s come up before,” Uthvir allows.
Depending on how they time things, they can probably get to the alienage, drop off everything, and then stop by the university and pick Virevas up once her last class for the day is done. Then they think they’ll check in and just make certain that things aren’t getting too over-crowded for Kel or the baby. They let Ashokara fiddle with the radio stations as they make their way through the city.
“You know, you don’t really look old enough to be a grandparent,” Ash opines, halfway through the drive.
Uthvir pauses.
“But then I guess Nanae really doesn’t look old enough to be a great grandparent,” she adds. “On television everyone always looks, like, seventy when they’re a grandparent.”
“And they look thirty when they’re supposed to be in highschool,” they add, mostly on autopilot for a moment.
“True,” Ash agrees, and turns her head to watch some of the scenery go by.
Uthvir feels oddly rattled, though. They check their reflection in the rearview mirror. But it’s fine. They’ve been pacing their aging based on Thenvunin’s, after all, and the slight modifications to their shape are holding well enough. The few grey hairs, here and there. Some extra wrinkles and creases. A little more thinness to their lips.
It’s not really what they look like ‘naturally’, of course, but then, they’ve been changing that since they were a teenager.
Still. The new additions aren’t quite as effortless as the rest. If they really let go, really relaxed it all, the nails and the teeth would probably stay – but the rest wouldn’t. And then they would look too young to be a grandparent. They’d look like they were Virevas’ age. Because they don’t age.
Thenvunin gets older. Their friends get older. The children get older. Even little Fenasal is going to get older.
Time steals them away, year by year. Only, not all of them. Eda looks very youthful, still. Won the elven genetics lottery, people joke. And Selene is not quite so good at subtly adding the signs of time as they are, or as Melarue is. Melarue, who keeps their hair jet black, because dyes exist. Who skirts the line, because people expect famous movie stars to have access to the kinds of miraculous spa treatments and plastic surgeons who will keep them looking young until the day they die.
They remember when the woman sitting next to them was just a tiny girl, peering into Virevas’ crib with curious eyes.
A heavy, sunken feeling settles into them, and no matter how they try, they cannot quite chase it away for the rest of the drive. The elves in charge of the alienage daycare are very happy to receive their surplus gifts, and Ashokara gets to sit with some of them while they marvel over her horns and try to climb her like a jungle gym. But Uthvir hangs back, and cannot quite escape Fear’s whispers. That they are going to outlive these children. Outlive their own children. And their loved ones.
Unless they do something.
Unless they…
It’s a harder notion to fight than usual. They know they’re a little too quiet on the drive back, but Ashokara seems content to leave them be, at least. And Virevas is happy enough to chat on her phone after they pick her up. When they get back to Kel’s house, their daughter has commandeered her son away from his admirers. Pride is napping in the master bedroom, while Eda and Thenvunin show Melarue all of their accumulated photographs.
Melarue meets their stare from across the room, as Ashokara goes to join them.
Uthvir excuses themselves into the back garden, under the guise of seeing how badly some of the plants have suffered the midst of everyone’s distraction.
As it happens, though, most of them are fine. There’s a little pruning to be done, some odd weeds here or there, so they take care of that. But it’s not much of a distraction, and Fear keeps whispering. It doesn’t matter how safe they make things. Death is still coming. No matter how they try, if they don’t cross that line, then it will still win. It will still take Thenvunin, and Kel, and Virevas, and Fenasal, and right now that knowledge feels like a clawing beast, tearing at them from the inside-out.
Their nails are a little too long, as they accidentally uproot one of Kel’s mint plants instead of a weed, and have to carefully re-plant it. Patting down the soil around it, until they hear footsteps coming up behind them.
“Are you alright?”
Thenvunin.
They let out a breath. Wiping their hands off on their pants, and turning to look up towards him.
His brows are slightly furrowed, and his braid has gotten a little messy somewhere along the way. His World’s Best Grandpa shirt has a tiny amount of spit-up on one of the shoulders, now. He looks achingly beautiful, though, in his comfortable jeans and footwraps, with his crow’s feet at his eyes, and the slight softening that’s start to come into his figure.
He looks like home, and Uthvir knows with a sudden, fervent certainty that they’ll always be gone on him. No matter what.
And that they can’t ask him to endure this fate with them. Thenvunin should never have to watch his loved ones die.
They open their mouth, and then close it again. And then they give up, and take a step towards him, and pull him close. His arms come around them as they press their face against his chest, shifting until they can feel his heartbeat through the thin fabric of his shirt. He’s still here, he’s still here, he’s still here…
We haven’t lost them yet.
…But we will.
Thenvunin folds his arms around them. They can almost feel the confused worry in his expression, as he carefully rubs the backs of their shoulders.
“What’s happened? What’s wrong?” he asks.
“I…” Uthvir starts. But they can’t quite manage to get anything else out. They close their eyes, as their throat seems to seal itself shut.
“Uthvir?” Thenvunin checks, gently.
When they don’t really manage to answer, he rubs at their shoulders again.
“He’s alright,” he reminds them. “Did it all finally catch up with you? It’s alright, you know. I understand. I suppose I’ve melted down enough over it, I should have realized… do you want to go home? Or do you want me to go and get Fenasal? Or Kel?”
Uthvir sucks in another breath, and then lets it out again. Shakily. Taking a moment to let Thenvunin’s voice and touch draw them back to the ‘now’. They’re alright, yes, that’s true. They’re in Kel’s garden, and their daughters are fine, their nieces and nephews are fine, their friends are fine, and their grandson is fine. Thenvunin is in their arms.
Another breath, and the awful, clawing thing inside of them eases its assault enough for them to loosen their grip on him.
“Sorry,” they manage.
Thenvunin tuts.
“None of that,” he insists, pulling back enough to look at them properly. “What do you need?”
They consider.
Some distance, maybe. Space to breathe. To feel normal.
“Home?” they suggest, before they remind themselves that Thenvunin probably wants to stay as long as he can.
But he just nods, easily enough.
“I suppose the house is getting a little crowded,” he agrees. “We can come back another time. Melarue is hogging the baby anyway.”
He sniffs a little, obviously just a bit irritated over that. But also, not really.
Uthvir manages a smile, and reaches up to brush his cheek.
“I love you,” they need to say.
Thenvunin’s expression softens. He leans down, and presses a sweet kiss to them.
“And I love you, very much,” he replies.
They know.
Oh, they know.

Sen Çal Kapımı / Edser Asks
After the fragman, I got a few anons this afternoon, my answer are under the cut.
(Also my initial reactions are in this post.)
Anonymous said: In the spirit of optimism- when Eda broke up with Serkan in 25, everyone freaked out but by the end of the next episode, she proposed LOL. Maybe just maybe they won’t do the “everyone pretends Selin and Serkan are a thing for medical reasons for multiple episodes” route and someone gets her kicked to the curb in 29. I wonder how much of the 2.5 hrs will be before he comes back and how much is after.
LOL, I certainly would like Selin to be back for only one episode. I hope my speculation is right (this post,)and her narrative purpose is to make Serkan distrust Eda from the start and once she’s done that she can exit stage right.
As for the theory you mention, which I have seen on twitter, I don’t see people pretending they’re together for medical reasons. That makes zero sense to me (not that medical diagnosis on a silly romantic dramedy dizi would be accurate, lol) why would that be necessary? Why would anyone go along with that? Especially when all he would need to do is google himself to find out about his relationship with Eda. They were all over the tabloids and on the cover of a magazine. Plus it seems like he knows about Eda, Selin tells him "she turned you into someone you’re not and dragged you into a different world.” He has to know they were in a relationship.
There is a lot of knee-jerk hysteria over there right now which is leading to completely neurosis-induced, nonsensical, worst-case scenario speculation. I recommend avoiding for awhile if anyone is easily upset by that type of thing.
As for the timeline of the ep, great question. I am hoping that the walk into ArtLife is not the end of the episode. We’re going to need to see Serkan and Eda meeting face to face before this episode is up in order to survive! We know almost the full cast (including Hande and Kerem) were shooting at a cafe yesterday, and the cast looked dressed up. Most thought it was for 1x28, so that seems like there are scenes with Serkan and the full cast in this ep.
Though, the show has a lot of questions to answer. How in God’s name did he end up in that cabin? Did he get on the plane or not? Was he held captive and got dropped in the woods with only Selin’s phone number? Has he been in a coma? Was there foul play involved? Was there a brain injury or did Babaanne arrange his kidnapping and give him some experimental drug to wipe out his memories of Eda?
Not sure if this Deniz is a law enforcement official or some sort of private detective, but there would have been some sort of official inquiry and search when he went missing. So he can’t just be lazing around for 2 months, easily findable. And Selin can’t have been with him for anything length of time without the others knowing he’s alive, because that would pretty much be kidnapping. So what HAPPENED?
Anonymous said: I hope we get good Eda and Aydan moments. She didn’t get married but she is still Aydan’s daughter now. He’s going to come back and find that this woman has his mother, his company, his dog, his car, his friends.....there’s no way that he doesn’t just know that Selin has been a snake.
Yes, please! I’m sure we will get Eda and Aydan moments, it looks from the first trailer that they will lean on each other while he’s missing. Which they should, they’ll be the two that will hold out hope and give one another comfort.
I am LOVING that Eda is driving his car and taking care of his dog. As she should, they were hours away from being married! And yes, you’re correct, he’s going to find Eda so deeply embedded in everything he remembers (except Selin) that it’s going to drive him crazy. Who is this woman and how did she ensorcell him so thoroughly? Can’t wait for him to find out.
You know what I’m most looking forward to in regards to Aydan? Serkan’s shock that his mother has conquered her agoraphobia. Can’t wait for him to find out that Eda was instrumental in helping her do that.
She is going to hit him like an emotional freight train. A second time.
Anonymous said: i know most of the fandom has already accepted it as fact bc they can't wait for the actual ep to make conclusions, but i'm less inclined to believe he's been in that cabin w/ selin for 2 months.. idk HOW he gets there, or how selin ends up there.. but for some reason i think they find him first, and he takes off by himself for a bit as he's overwhelmed with the whole situation.. and then selin enters. idk, we'll have to see it, but i think, like all trailers, it's confusing on purpose.
This theory is definitely possible. That he’s found and freaks out and goes to the cabin. Perhaps the last he remembers he was still with Selin so he reaches out to her for answer about what’s going on. That would make sense why he accepts her comfort, and she gives it, but can’t help herself from trying to do everything in her power to make him distrust Eda. Even if she doesn’t have hope of reconciliation, just to cause chaos because she doesn’t want them to find happiness together. She’s said it more than once, she didn’t want him happy, while she was not.
Anonymous said: I am not emotionally prepared to watch the look on Eda’s face when Serkan walks in holding hands with Selin after being missing for the last two months....😭😭😭. Also even if Serkan & Selin are purely platonic watching their scenes together are going to be brutal. I am prepared to cry ( both tears of joy & sadness) & be very mad at various points in this episode. It will be an rollercoaster of emotions for sure.
Yep, pretty much all of this! I don’t think I’m going to enjoy watching this episode at all. However, my hope is that I will really enjoy watching the storyline that it sets up where we get to watch Serkan fall in love with Eda all over again. Think of all the delicious, UST-y, sexy, funny, fiery, passionate scenes that are in store for us!
Off the top of my head, things I want:
Serkan opening Madonna in a Fur Coat and finding their photo
Serkan’s deep-seated memory kicking in and mindlessly tearing the crusts off bread for her without realizing it or knowing why
Finding out his computer password and what it means
Seeing photos of them from their matchmaking party. Looking so in love and surrounded by friends and family and everyone looks so happy
One of the friends, Engin or Piril snapping and telling him the big change Eda brought about in him was just that he was happy
Serkan seeing media clippings of them and their relationship
Eda handcuffing him so they have to spend time together while trying to jog his memory
After being suspicious and trying to keep her at arms length, Serkan finally breaking down and asking her questions about their relationship
Serkan being mistrustful of her, but still unable to say no to her
Anonymous said: So I get that SCK is going through a reset and now we will get to watch Eda & Serkan fall in love again but seriously they brought Selin back like that...WTF? Now she is even worse than Balca. Plus the entire world thinks Serkan is dead but somehow Selin found him and never bothered to tell anyone else...that should send up some red flags for sure. Regardless of the explanation, this situation is going to crush Eda. And it seems like a lot to go through to have him immediately get his memories back so we could be stuck with this storyline for a while.
Yes, poor Eda is going to be crushed no matter what. However, I know that people have been theorizing that the memory loss would be short, but I never thought it would be. What’s the point of this reset unless they’re going to follow through with it and milk it for as many episode as possible. They’re trying to find ways to keep this show going and this is their big swing.
The entire point is to recreate the magic of Eda and Serkan falling in love, and, honestly, I'm not sure why anyone would want that to be over in 2 episodes. I don’t see it as being stuck with the amnesia story, I’m excited for all the parallels, watching Serkan get struck by lightning a second time when he first sees her. Watching him be suspicious of her, of her motives of her abilities, but then finding out all the same things that he found out the first time, that she’s fierce, kind-hearted, loyal and talented. And just a bright shining light for him.
My heart melts just thinking about it. We just have to get rid of that opportunistic, malevolent, bitter hag.
Anonymous said: one complaint that i've seen in regards to sck is that characters aren't sent off properly.. but outside of maybe fifi (which we don't know how they'll explain her leaving) am i the only one that doesn't... really care? everyone that's left has been unsubstantial or in a villain role, and personally whatever way they leave i'm fine with lol.. i know when selin left ppl were mad bc they wanted a redemption story arc for her.. but not every character NEEDS that by default, if that makes sense.
For context, this ask was sent before the fragman. I agree with you, no side character needs redemption by default. I’ve said it many times, but on this specific show, really only two characters matter: Eda and Serkan. This is their story. Their love story. Everyone else is supporting in the truest sense of the word. They all exist to prop up the A story. So for most of them their journey doesn’t matter unless it directly affects Eda or Serkan. (Aydan’s growth and redemption has directly impacted Eda and Serkan and that’s why time has been spent on it). Selin is a tool. She’s behaved erratically at time because she only exists for the writers to use her to antagonize the protagonists. Her story in and of itself does not matter.
I laughed hysterically when some on twitter were thinking Serkan might really be dead and Kerem was leaving the show.
Seriously? You think they would try to keep this show going without Edser? That anyone would pay money for it, without them? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! If one of them were to leave, the show would be over. Dead. Cancelled. There is NO reason for this show to keep going other than for more Edser. Everything else is an after thought, filler, or characters that prop up Eda and Serkan either literally or symbolically or thematically. Nothing else stands on it’s own.
They devised this storyline in order to go back to the magic of these two people falling in love. Full stop. That’s why we’re seeing this reset. Because no other characters or their storylines are compelling enough to carry the show. I applaud the writers for creating a situation where we could watch Serkan fall in love with Eda one more time. (just get rid of Selin, please, so I can enjoy it... and do it quickly.)

SCK/EDSER asks

Anonymous said: Random things that amuse me: 1. When they met, Serkan didn’t seem all that mad that Eda keyed his car but was way more angered by her disdain for him. 2. I always forget about Eda’s ex because I think Eda forgot about him too. Cenk cheated on her and brought his new gf to break up with her, and Eda was more peeved that he implied Serkan was out of her league. (1/2)
The only time he’s brought up again is when Eda pretends to be texting him instead of Serkan (because Ayfer would be madder at her talking to Serkan lol). 3. Whenever Melo is supposed to be mad at Serkan in solidarity with Eda, she just cannot bring herself to dislike him. (2/2)
I LOVE THIS ASK!
1. I have always wondered about that. Even current, softer Serkan would get PISSED at someone keying his car. He keeps all of his things pristine. You know under normal circumstances he would be infuriated by that and not let it go. The car would have had to go to the body shop and everything. I think the fact that he didn’t seem all that bothered, other than threatening to call the police of course, is that he was just so gobsmacked by this insanely beautiful, but also beautifully insane, lady yelling at him and handcuffing him that he couldn’t think straight. The fact that she had seriously vandalized his car became inconsequential.
Additionally, I think when he found out ArtLife had cancelled her scholarship, he became embarrassed and didn’t want to make any more of an issue about it.
2. I forget about him too. What a tool he was. It also seems a bit out of character for Eda now. All of her friends and her aunt knew that he was ghosting her, and they made it clear they thought it by their reactions, but Eda didn’t get it? Eda was ready to marry a dude she hadn’t seen for a year? That does not sound like the Eda we know. Independent, fiery Eda? It’s true that she’s grown a lot, but that much? It seems like they designed that relationship to put Eda in the right frame of mind to kiss Serkan on the podium and then, thankfully, forgot about it.
3. Yes, Melo is all of us. In the early episodes especially, Serkan could be a real jerk, but I know I never held it against him for long, just like Melo. None of us can resist him, I’m sure we were all cheering her on when she was the one to give up Eda’s Saturday morning location. And I love it when she calls him enişte. It’s also sweet that he’s fond of her as well.
Anonymous said: What are your thoughts about Engin and Piril? Sometimes I think they are cute and sometime I just don't think they are meant for each other. I hope Piril's father brings a new story and dynamic that will help us see whether they work as a couple or not.
My thoughts are pretty much the same as yours. In the beginning I really thought they were pretty flat and wasn’t really rooting for them. Partly because I loved Engin’s character and I was pretty “eh” on Piril. She was so laser focused on work that I didn’t like when she would try and guilt Serkan because he was spending time with Eda. I found that annoying and I thought Engin could have a more interesting relationship (like Melo!).
Alas, that wasn’t to be, however I surprised myself by actually cheering when he proposed, and I really liked their heart to heart talk in the NY episode. On the other hand I wasn’t really charmed by their disconnect when it came to entertaining people. They were SO FAR apart. Piril was so uptight and Engin so lacksodasical, I think they’ll end up driving each other bonkers and it’s hard to see how that will work, and I’m not sure it’s something I want to watch all that much of.
Same as you, I’m hope that Piril’s father turns out to be interesting. What’s going on there? Will we find out this episode?
Also, honestly, I’m still pressed they didn’t call Serkan to come to the wedding. (But I assume that had more to do with how quickly they shoot and needing to have scenes without Hande and Kerem in them. H/K were in tons of scenes that episode so it was probably tight with scheduling and they were doing A and B units etc.)
Anonymous said: Hi Liza, I hope you are well and you and your loved ones are staying safe. SCK really helped make 2020 better and I'm glad we have the show in 2021 too! Sometimes the letter count in these asks really get to me because I feel like I have so much more to say and ask but oh well. In this ask i just want to say I hope Seyfi and Melo both get their very own happily ever afters. They're my favs and totally deserve it. Leyla too! That actress is so pretty, I wish we got to see her dress up more!
Hello! I’m well, thank you for asking. I’m not even joking when I saw that SCK was a highlight of 2020 for me. I’m so appreciative for the happy and joyous distraction it’s been over the last few months.
I LOVE MELO AND SEYFI. They are two of my favorite supporting characters, and two of the only ones that have stayed at the top since the beginning. Now Aydan is up there with them, but she wasn’t in the beginning, lol!
Those two deserve all good things. Leyla is also a great character and I wonder what her feelings are towards Erdem. Does she really like him?
Anyway, I’m not sure what they might be planning for any of them, but I can tell you I’m more interested in how they might end up, than I am with Ceren, Ferit, Fifi, or Piril.
Anonymous said: This ask may not be worth answering but I've always wondered about Eda's family on her mom's side. I don't think they've ever mentioned it on the show and if they have I may have missed it but it's interesting. It's most likely that her grandparents died and her mom didn't have any siblings but it would be really cool if she did have a family member who understood her and supported her and Serkan unlike Ayfer.
It would be interesting to know, you’d think she would have some relatives on her mom’s side. We’ll have to see if the show ever mentions it.
Anonymous said: Ok it may be the overthinker in me but unlike everyone else I'm actually worried seeing Serkan wear his engagement ring. If he and Eda reconciled and he knows the truth about her grandma threatening her, wouldn't their game plan be keeping their relationship a secret and not flaunting his ring. But then that's what the fans want, and maybe the writers have a different idea. I'm freaking out with worry that maybe Serkan and Bulca got engaged! But then it looks like his original ring! let's see!
Anonymous said: I'm the one who feared the engagement ring in a previous ask. Well today's pics/videos that show Serkan, Aydan and Seyfi at Eda's home with flowers seem like they are asking for her hand in marriage. It's an assumption but I feel much better. Lol!
See, this is why I always say not to borrow trouble by worrying about the disaster scenario. Why would he ask Balca to marry him the day after he sexed up Eda? Even if they were hiding it and using Balca for subterfuge, why would they need to go all the way to engaged to do that?
I’m glad you’re feeling better. I agree that the video posted today with them all at Eda’s house with the flower and the chocolate looks very much like they’re doing the traditional asking for her hand for serious this time!
WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!
Can’t wait to see them with their rings back on, we’ve been waiting so long.
Also, I have no idea why they are able to get away with this... maybe Eda found something while investigating that neutralized Babaanne? At least for the moment?
Anonymous said: Sometimes I hate being the audience, we know things that the characters don't and I want to yell at my tablet screen. I don't though because I don't want to confirm my parents thoughts that I am crazy, lol! Anyway I wanted to say that I appreciate you and the SCK community because none of my friends watch the show and I'm glad I have people to discuss this with, otherwise I'd actually go crazy. Edser & Hanker & the cast and crew make me happy! They're just amazing and I'm thankful for them!
Me too! I appreciate the cast and crew AND I appreciate the fandom. There are some very lovely people here, and I’m thrilled that I have you all to discuss the show and ship with because none of my friends or family in real life watch either. I’ve told many people about it, and sometimes I will drop words or phrases in Turkish that I’ve picked up watching and all they do is roll their eyes at me. (I enjoy that)
Also... talk back to that screen, I do. It’s fun. LOL.
Anonymous said: Thoughts on the fan theory that Eda & Serkan are actually already working together to bring her grandma down? Not sure that I really saw any clues throughout the episode that a scene of the two of them talking together was cut out but guess we could always get flashbacks to show it. I think for me that might make a little sense because how does Serkan not suspect that Grandma flat out made Eda breakup with him? He knows she wants them kept apart, he got arrested and then magically released which coincided with Eda staying away from him, entry of a prince interested in Eda and Eda being chummy with her Grandma 🧐. Or maybe he does suspect all of that but finally understands the risk that she poses to all of them so he agreed to end things? Very interested to see how the show gets us from that heartbreaking breakup to Serkan & Eda being jealous at the restaurant.
My apologies, I know this ask was sent before some of the recent spoilers including the second promo with the... uh... explosion. (sex) So at this point I do not think they are working together, the break up appears to be real. So it will be interesting how the first 2 hours of this episode plays out. I assume the sex will be in the last 15 minutes.
It looks like Serkan’s tact is to pretend he’s over her and moving on and let that drive her crazy. So I’d say that in order to do that, he has a pretty good idea why Eda broke up with him and knows it’s because of Babaanne and threats against him.
Anonymous said: Can I just say - I really dislike Ayfer. And I just realized that she has had like no growth at all in these 25 episodes. I guess she has an instagram business now? There is such a huge contrast between how they've developed her and Aydan, not only in how they view EdSer's relationship but on their own as well. Aydan is a new woman while Ayfer is still just a hater and a negative nancy about everything. You'd think they'd give her a better storyline with her mother in town but I don't see it
Since you sent this I’ve answered another ask about Ayfer here. I very much agree with you. She reacts negatively to everything, I’m not sure why the girls like to hang out with her so much, they have to hide everything and she is like a damp rag covering any bit of excitement.
On rewatching some of the early episodes, I have noticed that she was negative from the beginning. She was even annoying in her first second on screen, when she was waking Eda up to go help with the soil delivery. I hate that shrill voice she uses to say Günaydın over and over again.
You’re so right that she hasn’t had much if any growth. Neither she nor Aydan were excited by the Eda/Serkan pairing from the beginning. Aydan was more vocal, but Ayfer was just as disapproving. And frankly, even though between the two of them, Aydan might have seemed like the more formidable foe to the relationship, Ayfer actually always had more power. Just because Serkan Bolat is going to do whatever he wants to do and he’s not going to be swayed by his mother’s disapproval, but as we’ve seen in episode 21 Eda is more susceptible to her aunt’s guilt and disapproval. Remember when she asked Eda if she could trust Serkan’s positive assessment of her work because he might lie if he has feelings for her!?! GRRRRRRRRR.
The other big difference is that once Aydan saw how absolutely heartbroken Serkan was, she completely changed her tune and became supportive of the relationship. Her son’s happiness mattered to her. While Ayfer sat there last week and watched her heartbroken niece and reacted with glee. Eda’s happiness is apparently not important to Ayfer.
If indeed the Bolat’s have come to woo Eda, it will be interesting to see how Ayfer reacts. Will she come around on her own or will Eda have to give her an ultimatum. I wouldn’t mind that, actually. Give Ayfer a reality check on the way she’s been behaving, just as controlling as her mother.
Anonymous said:bHey Liza! Thanks for your thoughts on ep25, was looking forward to them today cause you're always rational and I pretty much agree with all you've said lol. The number of ppl mad at Eda/saying her character is ruined is wild, did they watch the same episode?? Eda HAD to end things because of the shit her grandma was pulling, like it wasn't small things she has serious connections, obviously Eda isn't gonna endanger serkan!! I really hope the people being irrational read your answers lol. The only thing that's bothering me about the episodes is that this is supposed to be a romantic comedy and I'm missing that (gotta be honest I fast forwarded thru the Alex ayfer aydan stuff lol) but hoping for some funny Edser stuff at least lol. Also THE PRINCE REALLY DO BE CRAZY lmao
This was also sent before some of the recent schedules. It looks to me like we’re are in for a bit of romance the next few episodes.
I’M SO EXCITED!!
Anonymous said: the prince is very specifically credited as a guest actor, so i think that maybe he'll only be here for 1 or 2 more episodes max. which makes me think that this arc at least with him directly involved won't last very long. i'm excited about the bombshell to be dropped though because as of right now neither eda or serkan know exactly what babaanne's plan for him is in regards to eda.. and not to mention his other creepy motives that have to do with his dead wife.
I haven’t seen him mentioned in any BTS stuff for 27... maybe he makes his exit is 26? We shall see.
Anonymous said: while i understand where serkan was coming from in his decision to not tell eda the truth, it was coming from a purely selfish reason (even he says that) eda's decision is bc of a very real 3rd party threat that would have consequences for serkan's family, business, and his wellbeing. and eda has no time to prepare a plan or anything of the sort; she's basically backed into a corner. i really wonder why serkan is granted so much more understanding in the fandom than eda's character..
I don’t agree that Serkan was coming from a “purely selfish place.” I don’t remember Serkan saying that and if he did, I’m sure it’s because he’s attributing all his motives to the one he’s most ashamed of feeling. Because while there was something selfish in not wanting her to know the truth and not wanting her to think of her dead parents when she looked at him, I think it’s clear he was also trying to protect her from those thoughts. He was trying to protect her from the heartbreak of dredging up their deaths, protecting her from having to make the decision to leave him. It was a lot more complicated then just him being “purely selfish.” Remember he inflicted the greatest heartbreak on himself, you don’t do that for purely selfish reasons.
It would be nice if anytime something went wrong, there wasn’t a knee-jerk reaction to vilify one or the other characters.

Episode 15 Thoughts
I love the parallel convos. But oh god they make my heart break.
Engin needs to talk to Ceren asap.
"The problem is that I considered myself worthy of an angel like her." *sobs* But you are Serkan!
"Half of my soul is her" I'll just be over here crying forever now!!
This man I swear his selflessness because he loves her so much.
Oh god he's looking at her star!!
The look on his face as she's berating him, he's so in love with her and her passion and fire!!
"In life you cannot replace me with anyone" oh Eda he knows, he knows hon
Eda telling Aydan that "he broke me to pieces" while Aydan is crying and telling her she will move past this. *sobs*
Ooofff Eda that was harsh "ask yourself how you raised such an insensitive son who does not know how to love." Especially because he loves her so much!!!
Alptekin knows he deserves Serkan's scorn.
Moving out?!
He cant even bring himself to pack up her stuff.
Even the world?!!!
He cant bring himself to take off the ring. It's the only thing he has left of her.
Oh Eda trying so hard to distract herself and be chipper
"Hair and stubble in a mess" you say Seyfi? That sounds incredibly sexy, I'm okay with this.
Oh shit! It's not enough that her heart is broken but now she finds out about Ayfer's lies.
I really really don't trust Efe!!!
Too convenient that he shows up to "rescue her"
Engin protecting Serkan from everyone bothering him about Eda.
Efe offering her her dream job, and the opportunity to get under Serkan's skin
Serkan is so upset that not only is she working for Efe but that Eda's giving up studying in Italy.
Efe is way too conveniently playing the white knight to Serkan's unfeeling robot.
Of course we have Eda and Ferit vs Serkan and Selin on opposite sides.
Dammit Selin did you have to point out the ring!!
Yowch Selin talking about Serkan breaking women's hearts.
Serkan telling them to help Eda and Efe, because he wants Eda to have the better design
Ooo the guys walking towards the girls love this shot.
Lmao "did fifi start working here too?"
Also side note but damn is Serkan looking extra fine today in that vest!!
"Eda pretended not to see me?" Oh Serkan sweetie
Oooo Selin wants nothing to do with Ceren
Erdam trying Adam play it cool with Fifi
Oooo Eda wearing the ring again just to bother him.
Staring at Serkan's hands often there Eda?
"So no other woman distracts me from my work" lmao mmmhmm sure Serkan that's why you're wearing the ring
Serkan has to keep his hands in his pockets around her to keep from pulling her towards him
Alptekin ugghhhh you should have told Ayfer!!!!!!
You idiot!!
Smart Serkan knowing that Efe would offer to buy Ferit's shares.
Seyfi knowing how Serkan and Eda work lol. Knowing that them working together and fighting will just bring them together again.
Eda has to know from the way he watches her that everything is not what it seems.
Engin stepping on to ask where they are going since Serkan can't
Lmao "I don't want to talk to Erdam"
Serkan you are not the only one missing Leyla
Yes Ayfer take Efe, keep him away from Eda.
Mmmhmmm also from Mardin, with family there? Either a distant cousin or related to one of Grandma's friends
Uggghhh both of them working alone and totally thinking of each other!!! * sobs*
Face timing him just to see his face, oh Eda honey
Serkan hiding the flower because he cant look at it but he can't bring himself to get rid of it
Oh no you did not bring up Serkan breaking up with Eda, Efe. Forget Serkan fighting you, I'll fight you!!!!
Serkan can never say no to his mom.
Oooo yes Seyfi going to the office to spy on Eda and Serkan.
I'm on Serkan's side about not talking to Alptekin. They already didn't have a good relationship and this made it worse.
I feel for Aydan hurting because Serkan is going to move out, but he does need his own space. She didn't think he would marry and stay there the whole time?
I think he will move into that house that he was having Eda design ideas for.
The new picture will be just as marked up as the last was.
Eda making a plan for school yaaaassss!!!
"The woman saved me from my own cruelty, from my terrible condition" *sobs*
"Now I realized how much I need her." Just stab us in the heart why don't you!!
Serkan is totally picturing Efe's face on that punching bag.
Lmao Engin hitting him with the towel!
Good on Eda for getting the university to agree to a payment plan.
Ooo Serkan is jealous that Eda was willing to use Efes name and not his
Leyla and Seyfi as friends? Yaasss the duo we deserve!!!
Serkan watching Eda throw everything out! Ouch!!!
Someone go dig it all out!!!
Sirius!! Go get Mama's stuff from the trash!!
Engin just wanting to hug Piril
Serkan thinking she poured him coffee but its for Efe
Efe charming everyone even Aydan
Lmao at jealous Serkan sending Efe away. Oh honey you're so bad at staying away from her
"If you are not ready, you should not have accepted me into your life" Damn Eda!
Serkan is so proud of Eda and her presentation/work
Oh Serkan, throwing the presentation because he doesn't want Eda to lose!
And Eda knows he's throwing it too, because she remembers what he was saying in the car.
Engin us so terrible at hiding his relationship with Piril, lol Serkan's smirk.
Yaassss team camping trip!!
I'm glad that Ayfer and Eda made up, but
Yaaaasss Serkan coming to go camping! Casual clothes Serkan!!
"I only came because you are here" we all know exactly who that's directed too
Efe go away we want Eda vs Serkan
Leyla not wanting to pick a side lol
Oooo Selin has to ride with Efe
Lmao Serkan still calling her "Eda honey"
Lmao the look on Serkan's face knowing Eda wants to drive!
The teams should just agree to lock them in a closer until they solve their issues
I'm okay if Efe and Selin end up together, both are competitive enough for each other
Serkan back seat driving
Gorgeous view there!
"What if something happened to you?" Eda don't you get it, it's never about him its always about you!
Selin go away you just ruined things!
Serkan knows where Eda would go of course!
You end it there??????!!!!!!!
