14th Doctor Headcanon

Headcanon that, after Donna dies and the Doctor has healed and has to find a new adventure, he meets up with one of the later Doctors from the other half of the bigeneration and sacrifices himself. Maybe include a callback of “Just this once, everyone lives!” but this time it’s “Everyone lives except me” but he’s had his time and the Doctor will still be with their companions and no one has to die this time, not really. 14 makes the sacrifice, closes his eyes…

…and when he opens them, he’s naked in the TARDIS with Donna looking much younger than he had seen her in a long time.

Tentoo is the 14th Doctor after he healed. That’s why he’s finally able to say “I love you” to Rose Tyler when he couldn’t say it before. He had to heal first.

He can’t say anything to 10, his younger self, nor to Donna or to Rose until after the rift closes, but he knows that everything is going to be okay. His younger self will regenerate and be broken and run and finally stop and heal and he will end up back here all the same. As he and Rose walk off that beach together, a piece of a new TARDIS in his pocket, he can’t help but laugh, all giddy and excited and Rose asks what’s so funny.

“…let me tell you a story.”

“What kind of story?”

“A long one. A really, really long one, but with a good ending.”
