Salad Days, Chapter 8: Tell Me Now, and I Won't Ask Again
(Rodrick Heffley x reader)
chapter directory
hi hello I'm here and apologizing in advance for the turn this story took because I started having emotions while I was writing it lmao.
I have once again added a few secret songs to the playlist, so go and check that out if you're so inclined :) thank you so much to everyone who's read this. I'm having a time.
Life's an illusion, love is the dream
But I don't know what it is
Everyone's saying things to me
But I know it's okay, okay
Everybody's happy nowadays
Everybody's happy nowadays
~
Rodrick nods to Buck as he finishes loading up his truck, stretching his arms above his head and hopping into the driver’s seat. It’s been just short of a week since he’d last seen you. He sighs, looking at the dashboard, trying to shoo the thoughts of you away. He’d almost broken the night before and opened up his email account, taken a chance and said something, anything to you.
He’d ended up being too scared.
There’s no point.
Besides, he kind of likes his new job. He just drives around all day, does some light physical labor, and the people at the restaurants, or liquor stores, or wherever he is that day, smile and thank him. Tell him he’s a good, fast worker. He’d specifically requested no downtown bars on his route.
Buck had laughed and said I can’t blame ya. We’ll make Tony do it.
The engine roars to life, and he scans through the radio stations until it lands on a good-sounding song. The music is upbeat, with a high, meandering guitar riff.
Life's an illusion
Love is a dream
Life's the illusion
Love is the dream
He taps his fingers on the steering wheel as he pulls out of the parking lot. The words of the song prick his ears, and he ignores them, pretending they mean nothing to him as the song fades out.
Then he hears a voice.
An all too familiar voice.
This is 98.7, radio free Port Hanna. Buzzcocks, Singles Going Steady, 1979. Personally, it's in my top five. Sometimes, I just feel like-
Suddenly, he sees flashes of your apartment, the lights above your bed. Your kitchen counter. Your face, so close to his, praising him. You, on top of him. Your soft skin. The smell of your soap, and the tile of your bathroom.
I really, definitely like you.
He switches the station fast, to some lifeless buttrock. He leaves it there. This is… fine. A month or two ago, he might have even liked this song. He sighs, stopping at a red light and looking at the map in his passenger seat. He notices a red line veering off from his uptown stops. He picks up the map. Oh, no. Oh, no, no, no.
That looks like The Strike.
As he gets closer, glancing down at the map, he realizes it’s not, but it’s close. He drives by, seeing the giant, boarded up window, which somebody has painted we’ll be back, fuckers! on. The front of the building is fenced off. He feels bile rise in his throat.
His delivery is 2 doors down, a liquor store on the corner, Phoenix Liquors. The guy inside is friendly, with red hair and a silver nose ring.
“Oh, hey! Are you my delivery guy?” He sounds excited.
“Y-yeah!” Rodrick stutters.
“Oh, thank god. It’s usually this guy named Terry, and he’s an asshole.” The man laughs.
Rodrick wracks his brain. Terry, Terry…
“Oh! Yeah, Terry’s weird. He has these pictures of, like, women in 80s aerobics clothes in his truck.” Rodrick laughs.
The man cackles, steadying himself with a hand on the counter.
“God, that makes so much sense.” He laughs, “I’m Joey, by the way. You look… really familiar.”
Rodrick panics, feeling sweat start to prick at his hairline.
“I, um, uh…” He pulls his hat down, trying to cover his face.
“You played at The Strike last Friday! That’s it. You’re a drummer, right?”
“No, I…” Rodrick laughs nervously.
“Yeah! You guys were fucking sick as hell! You played ‘Rise Above’! What was your band called again? Löded Diper?.”
“No, no,” Rodrick’s voice falls to a hushed tone, “I mean, yes, but no…”
“Dude. You guys were great. I’m in Put Down, I’d love to play a show with you guys sometime.”
“Really?” Rodrick’s eyes widen, “I- I mean, no I’m kinda… I don’t know when we’ll play again, y’know?”
Joey looks at him in disbelief.
“What? Are you guys doing, like, a weird album release thing? Building hype? Because people loved you. You got a mention in The Eye this week. Alex Garcia, the music reporter, really liked you guys. Which is a big deal. Because he kinda hates everyone.” Joey smiles.
“What?” Rodrick perks up.
“Yeah! You gotta take your chance while you got it, man.”
Rodrick’s mind goes blank. Joey’s eyes are kind, and Rodrick feels like he can trust him.
“I, uh… I kinda…”
Joey cocks his head to the side.
“I kinda messed things up with somebody important.”
“Who?”
“Um, the lead singer of The Shrieks?” Rodrick’s voice sounds small, afraid.
“Oh.” Joey laughs, “Yeah, she doesn’t fuck around. We’re friends though, do you want me to ask about you? Maybe it was just a misunderstanding.”
“No!” Rodrick blurts out, then calms down, “No, no, I… it’s okay.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, I… I should start loading in.” Rodrick sighs, walking away from the counter.
He makes his way back to the truck out front, keeping his head down in case anyone from The Strike is outside.
He comes back to find that Joey has put a doorstop down, and smiles. What a nice guy. Rodrick gets to work, wheeling cases of bottles and cans into the store, stocking them, and starting over. A different song seems to be playing every time he comes back. Joey makes light conversation, and time seems to fly. Before he knows it, he only has one load of cans left. He wheels his dolly through the front door for the last time, loading the final empty shelf with a quirkily-labeled local beer, the can featuring a topless woman riding a dragon. He wheels the dolly back up to the counter.
“Hey, well, even if you don’t play, we should hang out, okay?” Joey smiles, “I’m always here, or at one of the bars. I kinda work everywhere."
Rodrick feels a pang of sadness in his chest, knowing he probably won’t make it out to hang out with Joey.
“Yeah… yeah, we totally should.”
“We’ve been around, like, if you guys wanna know where to tour when you’re ready, we’ve got a whole guide written up. I'll make you a copy."
Rodrick might as well have been slamming his head against the wall, like the idiot that he was. This guy is offering him tour advice, and he knows he’s not going to take it.
“Yeah, I’ll… I’ll see you around.”
Joey holds his hand out for a high five, and Rodrick meets him halfway, smiling nervously. He freezes in the doorway as he hears your voice once more, low and stable over the store speakers.
Sorry for all the sap today, folks. It’s just one of those days.
Joey flashes him a sympathetic look, that he doesn’t stick around to see.
He makes his way back out to his truck, grabbing a copy of The Eye from a box outside. He sits in the driver's seat for a minute, bonking his head against the steering wheel. What is he doing? This is what he’s wanted, as long as he can remember, and he’s throwing it away, because…?
Because he’s a bad person.
He sits up, looking at himself in the rear view.
He’d forgotten to remind himself of that today.
Bad. Bad.
He stares into his own dark brown eyes, starting the truck and driving off, towards the other end of town. He can’t let himself forget. He did this to himself. No one else. It was him.
~
Tonight you’re mine completely
You give your love so sweetly
Tonight the light of love is in your eyes
But will you love me tomorrow?
~
It’s been a week since you saw Rodrick. Your radio plays are a little spiteful today, you’ll admit. All songs of scorn, or longing, and maybe a small part of you hopes that Rodrick is listening.
This is stupid. You’re strong. You should’ve forgotten him, written him off by now.
But you can’t.
Some part of you is still hoping he’ll call and apologize, have some magic excuse for leaving you hanging for a week. It doesn’t even have to be a good excuse. You really just want to hear his voice.
You hate that you’re so desperate to hear his voice.
You spin in your desk chair as a commercial break plays, a man yelling about discount tires. You’re tempted- so tempted- to send him another email. One with harsh words. One that will hurt him, maybe stick with him forever. You want him to feel just as bad as you do right now.
Something tells you this isn’t just him being a dumb guy, though.
Something tells you that something much bigger is at play.
You instinctively take the mic as the commercial break ends, your mind unfocused, running on pure routine. You barely even hear the words you say.
“98.7, radio free Port Hanna. Listen up, folks. Repairs are delayed. The city sent the fire marshal after us, and we’re on cable control duty until they say we’re good to go. I’m sure you can imagine the nightmare that guy walked into- power strips as far as the eye can see. But the window will be back tomorrow. Why don’t you come up and drive past us sometime?”
You sigh, preparing to hit play on your next pick.
“Stay strong, folks. You never know when the man is out to get’cha.”
The next song plays, and you stare into the grainy little screen of your cell phone. Then just like that, it's ringing. An unknown number. Your eyes nearly jump out of your skull.
You do have a rule with unknown numbers, though. You always let them talk first.
You answer the phone, bringing it to your ear, and squeeze your eyes shut, hoping against all hope that it's Rodrick.
The voice on the line is familiar, but in a way that makes your blood run cold. There's no way… it can't be.
It sounds like your dad. He's laughing, in a smug, awful tone.
“We found you,” he says, the laughter coming to a halt, “We finally found you.”
Your jaw drops, and your hands shake as you hang up as fast as you possibly can, the phone falling out of your hand and onto the floor.
No way. No fucking way. He's bluffing.
Then you remember… you were on TV last week. There's a good chance that news piece made it back to your hometown. You put your head in your hands, cursing yourself. Shit! Free access to what you look like and where you work got broadcasted straight to the man you've been trying to hide from for nearly 6 years. You don't know how much he's capable of on his own, but you should clearly be cautious if he found your fucking phone number.
The thought hadn't even crossed your mind, you'd just been so angry about what happened. Part of you had hoped he just wouldn't care anymore.
You check the clock. You're on air for another hour, and then it's straight to the bar for more work on repairs. You cross the studio and double check the lock on the door. Checking the window, you see that the parking lot is as empty as it should be on a day like this.
Cautiously, you pick your phone up and see several new texts.
You ungrateful brat.
You thought you could hide? You think you're smarter than us?
You're still sick. You need help.
I'll be waiting outside of that horrible bar to collect you and bring you home.
Your hands shake so hard, you can barely read what he's sent. You feel your breaths coming fast and ragged, trying to come up with any plan at all.
You have one beam of hope left. You hadn't said anything on the phone. He may know where you work, and what you look like, but he doesn't know for a fact that this is your phone.
You unlock the studio, rushing downstairs and giving the receptionist a frightened look.
“Bonnie…?”
She smiles, looking up from her knitting.
Bonnie is a woman who proudly describes herself as “funky.” She's in her mid 70s, and she dresses like she's in a Deee-Lite video. Her orange hair is tied back in a floral scarf, her eyes are lined in bright turquoise, and her lipstick is a jarring shade of coral. You smile back. She's one of the sweetest people you've ever met.
There is a reason that she's trusted to man the front door, though.
Bonnie doesn't take shit from anyone.
Not a lot of people know about your past, but you have had a few late night talks with Bonnie in the studio, and she knows your dad is not a man you want to see.
“Can you do me a huge favor?” You smile sheepishly, clasping your hands together to keep them from shaking.
She nods, putting the knitting aside, “Oh, please! I'm so bored.”
You laugh, despite the situation, and take your cell phone out of your pocket.
“Well, I'm getting these harassing phone calls,” You start, frowning down at the little screen.
“From who?” She looks devastated.
“My, um… my dad. Remember how I said he's kind of a bad guy?”
She nods fiercely.
“He found me, and he called me, but he never heard my voice, so he doesn't know for sure that it's me.” You frown down at the phone, then look back up at her, “Bonnie, will you record a voicemail message on my phone?”
She leans back and laughs, nodding and reaching her hand out for the phone.
“Oh, this will be fun!” Her tone is devious.
This is Bonnie Forester. You’ve reached my personal telephone line. If you are a solicitor, I ask that you take me off of your list. I’m old, and I will not buy anything. Go to hell!
You burst into laughter the second she’s done.
“That’s perfect.” You grin as she hands you your phone back, feeling a sense of relief wash over you.
“Don’t say I never did nothin’ for you.” She winks.
You make a mental note to bring her flowers or something on your next shift.
She picks up her needles and waves as you go back up to the studio. Songs are still playing from your CD queue, and you decide to call Mike before commercial.
“Perfect timing, kid,” he answers, “You ready to check 28 power strips?”
You sigh.
“Mike… is there a car parked outside the bar? One that looks out of place, maybe? A white BMW?”
You're not sure if your dad is still driving his stupid vanity car, but you wouldn't doubt it.
You hear his footsteps.
“Yup, white BMW. Yuck. Why? Are you psychic? Have you been hiding that from me this whole time? Do you know how useful that would've been?”
A laugh almost escapes, but the dread of the situation is just too consuming.
“That's my dad. I don't know if you remember, but-”
“Your dad?” Mike's tone is hushed, panicked, “The one who-”
“Yes!” You interrupt, pinching the bridge of your nose, trying not to let any stray memories come in.
“What the fuck is he doing here?” You hear Mike pacing.
“He found me, I don't know. I have to assume he saw me on the news last week and tracked me down. I thought he would've stopped caring by this point!” You lean against the wall, hand on your chest, in some effort to comfort yourself.
“Should I go out there and say something?” Mike asks, “I’ll make something up! Tell him we forgot to paint the curb red.”
“He already knows I work there, Mike. There’s no point. He said he'd wait at the bar to ‘collect’ me.” You feel tears pricking at the corners of your eyes.
“Collect you?” Mike scoffs, “You’re a fucking adult!”
You sniffle, shaking your head, your voice starting to break, “What if he's got a court order or something? What if he can collect me, Mike?”
Mike is quiet.
“You're right. Don't come in, lay low. Finish your shift, and then go home.”
“Should I go home?” You feel yourself unraveling completely, your heart beating fast, your eyes twitching, “What if he knows where I live?”
“I'm watching his car. I'll let you know if the fucker moves. Just keep your door locked, and let me know if you need anything.”
You nod, wiping your eyes, “Thanks, Mike. I'm… I'm so sorry.”
“He should be fucking sorry. I'll talk to you later, okay?”
“Okay.”
You hang up, collapsing into the rolling chair just in time to play a commercial break. This wasn't supposed to happen. He was never supposed to find you. He wasn’t supposed to give a shit anymore. You turn the playback volume as high as you can handle, trying to get him out of your head. Trying not to remember.
You feel like a zombie for the rest of your shift, finishing out your queue and waiting for Nick to come in for his shift.
You hear the doorknob rattling behind you and spin around, your eyes wide in fear. Nick puts his hands up in surrender.
You let him in, sighing in relief.
“Hey, paranoid, what's gotten into you?” He smiles, hanging up his jacket. His face drops when he looks at you.
“My dad is here. He's at the bar waiting for me.” Your voice comes out small, pitiful. You hold your elbows, slouching over.
“Your dad? Oh, fuck,” He whispers, “What are you going to do?”
“Run and hide,” you shrug, “Wouldn't be the first time.”
You grab your stuff and turn to face him, forcing an uneasy smile.
He sits in the chair, putting the headphones around his neck, and returns your uneasy look.
“Well, if you need help, you know where to find me."
"I know."
~
My eyes feel like they're gonna bleed
Dried up and bulging out my skull
My mouth is dry, my face is numb
Fucked up and spun out in my room
On my own, here we go
~
Rodrick sits in his usual stool at Jimmy's, a mug of beer in his hand, staring down at the bar. The top is smooth, clear plastic, with ads and business cards slipped underneath. Used cars, chiropractors, nail salons, and so many little concert fliers.
Most seem to be for smaller country, tribute, or solo acts, people that play in places like this.
Currently, a man sits in the corner with an electric guitar, playing a simple riff, with no rhythm to be found. His off-key crooning makes Rodrick want to cover his ears, but the guys from the plant are watching him closely, cheering him on.
He hates it here.
He opens his copy of The Eye, flipping through to the music section.
Hey, Friday Night's Alright for Fighting, Too
by Alex Garcia
A brawl broke out last Friday at The Strike, just a day before the vandalism took place. I personally think that the raw power of all 5 bands was too much for the local frat boys to handle, and their little brains just straight-up exploded.
Newcomers Löded Diper burst onto the the scene for the first time. Ignore their name, and go see them as soon as you can. With a powerful rhythm section, and a palpable friendship between the members, these guys are definitely one to watch. The chemistry was off the charts.
Dammit. That's a good review. That's a really good review. Rodrick leans forward, his elbow on the bar, his head in his hand.
The bartender is the same one as usual, Caitlin. She's about his age, with flat ironed hair and an eyebrow ring.
“This sucks.” She slumps down on her elbows in front of him.
“I know,” he shakes his head, taking a long drink of his beer. He feels a slight smile on his face. At least someone gets it.
“I'm going to this tonight,” She points down at the counter, to a small, square flier advertising a show at one of the bars downtown, Dime Store. His heart sinks, remembering that you'd said he could probably get a show there. “You wanna come with?”
He looks up. She's smiling sweetly, with one of her eyebrows raised. Is she… flirting with him? Rodrick swallows hard, his mouth falling open, but no words come out.
Caitlin is pretty, and nice, and tough as hell for working in a horrible place like this.
He can't say he's interested in her, though. She's not you. He's still thinking about you, even if he's accepted that he's completely ruined his chance.
Not to mention, he can't show his face down there, even if he was interested.
“I…” he looks down, “I can't, I'm sorry. I'm really busy.”
He looks up, sheepish, knowing that was a shitty lie.
Caitlin looks disappointed.
“Yeah. Yeah, that's fine. I get it.” She stands up straight, grabbing a rag and wiping down the empty side of the bar.
Rodrick lets his head fall with a thunk. Dumbass.
“Y'know, if you have a girlfriend or something, you can just say it. It's better than some lame ‘I’m busy’ bullshit.” She looks down at him, mocking him with a deep, dopey voice as she repeats his words.
He picks his head up, eyes still down towards the bar, focusing on an ad for a dog groomer. The picture is old and warped, and the dog looks like some sort of monster.
“I don't have a girlfriend, I just…” He sighs.
“Oh, you like someone.” She teases.
“Sure, you could say that.”
“And you screwed it up, because you're a dumb guy?” She laughs, but her face is sympathetic when he looks at her.
He nods. That’s a pretty good way to put it.
“You should call her or something, it can't be that bad.” She comes back to stand in front of him.
“It's that bad. I'm that bad. I'm a bad guy.” He sulks.
“You? C’mon,” She laughs, “You’re not a bad guy. You're the only one of these assholes who's actually nice to me.”
Rodrick turns to look at his horrible coworkers. Buck is singing with the guitar guy. They’re doing a Creed song. Fucking Creed. Buck is crying. He rolls his eyes, turning back to Caitlin.
“Yeah, they’re pretty fucking horrible. I don’t mean that I’m mean, though. Like, I’m not rude or anything. More like… sometimes I think I was just born bad. I do bad things, and I don’t even realize they’re bad. Or that I’m doing them! I try my best, but I just spread… badness. Everywhere I go. I’m a bad person.” He shrinks back in the barstool.
Caitlin gives him a look of absolute pity. It makes him want to disappear.
“Jesus. What the hell did you do to this girl to make you think that?” She laughs softly, shaking her head.
“I got into a stupid fight with a stupid asshole at her bar, and the stupid asshole went and vandalized the bar, so it’s my fault. I shouldn’t have even given him a second look.”
“How… exactly is what happened to The Strike your fault?” She looks unimpressed, “Sure, bar fights are fucking stupid, but did you start the fight? Or did he?”
“Well,” Rodrick thinks back, “He pushed me, I pushed him, he sucker punched me in the face.”
“Buddy,” Caitlin laughs, “That is not your fault.”
“But…” Rodrick looks down, “You should’ve seen the way she looked at me when it happened, and when she figured out it was the guy who punched me who did it.”
“How did she look at you? Show me.”
“Like… like…” Rodrick frowns, and shakes his head, doing his best impression, trying to match the rage that had been in your eyes. Caitlin covers her mouth as she laughs.
“Okay, that just looks generally pissed off. Did she say anything?”
“She said,” Rodrick thinks, “She… she said… ‘don’t feel bad, it’s not your fault, I’m just pissed off’.”
Caitlin looks at Rodrick like he is the dumbest man in the world.
“...what?” Rodrick asks quietly, after a moment of silence.
“She said it’s not your fault!”
“She didn’t mean it, it’s totally my fault.” Rodrick groans.
“She would’ve told you if it were your fault. So, what you’re telling me is, this girl had her workplace vandalized and a guy she presumably liked completely stop talking to her on the same day?”
“See?” Rodrick blurts out, “Even if the bar wasn’t my fault, that’s not good either! Either way, I suck!”
“Do you know what you can do about that?” Caitlin gets closer to him, smiling.
Rodrick is quiet.
“Call her!” She enunciates carefully.
Rodrick stutters, starting and abandoning several sentences, finally landing on, “I can’t.”
Caitlin rolls her eyes.
“She probably doesn’t even like me anymore! She probably just wanted it to be a one night stand after all! She was probably just being nice when she said she wanted to see me again! She’s, like, hardcore!”
Caitlin’s eyes go wide.
“One night stand?! Rodrick!”
“What?!”
“You slept with her?” She yells.
The music stops. Rodrick’s coworkers all look at him, and start hooting and hollering as they always do.
Yeah, alright, Ricky! Atta boy!
Rodrick puts his head down in shame.
Caitlin lowers her head, whispering.
“Okay, dude, I do not think you’re a bad guy, but you seriously need to call this girl. Like, right now.”
“I… I don’t have her number.” He admits.
Caitlin puts her face in her hands, rubbing her temples.
“You can not be serious! Okay,” Caitlin flips her phone open, “I have everybody’s numbers, what’s her name?”
She scrolls through her contact list, and fuck. There you are. Caitlin keeps an iron grip on his arm as he dials, and he takes deep breaths as it rings.
This is Bonnie Forester. You’ve reached my personal telephone line. If you are a solicitor, I ask that you take me off of your list. I’m old, and I will not buy anything. Go to hell!
Rodrick stares, dumbfounded, at the phone.
“She didn't answer?” Caitlin releases his arm, leaning over the bar.
“It was… an old lady's voicemail.”
She looks at him, confused. He dials again, this time putting it on speakerphone.
This is Bonnie Forester. You’ve reached my personal telephone line. If you are a solicitor, I ask that you take me off of your list. I’m old, and I will not buy anything. Go to hell!
“She changed her number.” Rodrick murmurs, looking down.
“No, no,” Caitlin looks at her own phone, her eyebrows hitched in worry, “I met her, like, 2 years ago, she's probably just changed it since then. Or I took it down wrong!”
Rodrick crumples onto the bar, groaning.
Caitlin grimaces, putting a tentative hand on his back.
“Hey, hey. This doesn't mean anything.”
“It means fucking everything,” his mouth pulls into a frown, “It means she hates me.”
It's quiet for a while. Caitlin slowly takes her hand off his back, shifting from foot to foot uncomfortably.
“Well,” she finally says, “Come out with me, then.”
He lifts his head.
“As friends! Just as friends.” She clarifies, waving her hands, “C'mon, I'm off in 20 minutes. Let's have a good time at a bar for once.”
He looks at her for a while, before finally agreeing.
“Yeah. Yeah, okay.”
~
You don’t want me anymore
So I just walk right out that door
Played a game right from the start
I trust you, you use me, now my heart’s torn apart
So I'm sailin’, yeah I'm sailin’ on
I'm movin’, yeah I'm movin’ on
Sail on, sail on, sail on, sail on
~
Your cell phone rings once again, and you debate snapping it right in half. You sit, curled on your couch, staring at it in fear. This is a new number. Probably your mom's phone. You consider yourself lucky that Bonnie had been there to help you out. The message will at least throw them off your scent a little.
You've received one text from Mike, ugly car is at Motel 6 on Coal Ave.
That's a relief, at least.
You feel like you're going crazy.
A thunderstorm rages outside your apartment, and you're suddenly hating how many windows you have inside. The entire outside-facing wall is essentially just one big window. Every time lightning strikes, you find yourself thinking, that's it. He saw me.
Yet, when you check the window, nobody unusual is parked on the street below.
You're struck with a passing thought as a clap of thunder rattles your windows.
What if…?
No way.
Why would Rodrick call now?
You carefully pick up your phone, looking at 2 missed calls. You'd bet good money on that being your mom's cell phone, or even your dad having a backup number.
You'd really like to hear from Rodrick, though. Now more than ever.
As pathetic as that may be.
You take a deep breath. If you don't talk, nobody will know it's you.
You dial. It rings for what seems like forever.
I'm sorry, but the person you have dialed has a voicemail box that hasn't been-
You hang up quickly. Dammit. Now you have no idea.
You eye your laptop for a second before opening it.
Rodrick hasn't emailed you. You decide to send another one to him.
Not to hurt him. Not to destroy him. Just to see.
~
From: [email protected]
Subject: Did you call me?
Rodrick.
Are you calling me? I assume the ship has sailed and I don't know why you would be. Dick move, by the way.
Let me know if that was you who called me twice in a row tonight and I'll answer. I can't answer mystery numbers right now. I don't want to explain and you probably don't care anyway.
Just please let me know.
~
You drop your head as you hit send.
You doubt he'll answer. You doubt it was him.
But the chance is enough to make you wonder.
Enough to make you miss him.
You know he wouldn't have some grand plan to save you from this situation, but that's not what you need, anyway. You have a feeling that Rodrick’s form of support would just be sitting on the couch with you until you could fix things yourself.
That's what you need.
You stare at your inbox for a while, refreshing over and over, feeling more helpless. You wonder where he is. If he's even thought about you once.
You feel so weak.
You feel so angry.
No person should make you feel like this. You're better than this.
A knock at your door scares you within an inch of your life, and you cover your mouth to stifle any sound you might make. You creep towards the door, peeking through the peephole.
It’s Nick, with his hands shoved in his jacket pocket. You open the door and let him in.
“Hey,” He closes the door behind him, locking the deadbolt, “Any word?”
“Nothing. I got 2 calls, but it might be… someone else.”
He eyes you strangely, then takes his hands out of his pockets.
“I had this crazy idea,” He reveals what he’s got to you.
2 plane tickets from the nearby regional airport to LAX. You take them, staring up at him in disbelief.
“It’s crazy, I know,” He scratches the back of his head, “I just thought, if you’re gonna run, you might as well go far, far away. Somewhere exciting.”
You keep your eyes on him, eyebrow raised in confusion.
“And I’d wanna go with you.”
“What? Like, run away together?” You hand him the tickets back.
He looks at the floor.
“Look. Ever since I met you, I…”
“Don’t, Nick. I know you feel bad for me, but don’t say anything you don’t mean, okay?”
You walk to your couch, sitting with your hands in your lap.
“I mean it,” He appears in front of you. He looks so sincere, “I love you. In whatever way you want me to.”
You don’t really know what you feel for Nick. He’s been there, with you, since the beginning, but…
Do you love him? As a friend, maybe. You decide to shelve those feelings for now.
“I can’t leave, Nick.”
His face drops when you don’t respond to his confession.
“I have too many things here worth fighting for. I can’t leave. Plus, who’s to say my dad can’t find me wherever I go? I have to stay here and fix this.” You look out the window as another flash of lightning strikes.
Nick looks at you for a long time, head down, shoulders slouched. He finally speaks.
“Just think about it, okay?”

౨౿ rodrick who is such a loser, the first time you kissed he moaned into your mouth. his body leaning into yours, his hand sliding around your waist—the movement is so confident you think he’s getting cocky until you hear it, the light sound of satisfaction. you do nothing but smile into his lips before pulling away, “you’re cute.”
now, the loser loves making out with you sitting in his chair. your legs on either side of his hips as your shorts ride up your legs. to center himself like before, his warm hands slide from your hips to your sides, slightly making you shiver. your lips are wet with one another’s spit, both your heads spinning, noses hitting every now and again as you breathe in each other's air.
“rodrick!”
as if nothing has changed, noises slip from his mouth while you taste each other, your hand scratching into the short hair on the back of his head, not making him any better. his hands slide further up until he’s grabbing a handful of your breast but before you can even think about getting the shirt off greg’s voice takes over the room.
“rodrick, mom sa- EW!” the two of you pull away immediately, you look over at greg with a shocked expression while rodrick simply stuffs his face into your chest with a groan. he mumbles something, but it doesn’t reach either of your ears. “i think i’m gonna hurl,” greg says, making exaggerated gagging noises as he begins to leave. “oh my god,” rodrick moans into your chest in aggravation. he lifts his head to shoo greg from the room further, “get out.”
you hear the soles of greg’s feet hit each step as he leaves. rodrick leans back into the chair and you finally get to take a good look at him; his hair messy, his lips almost as pink as his cheeks, the pinkness creeping up his neck a little, lips slightly agape. you can only grin, “you’re really cute.”

the heffleys are still coming to terms with the fact that you, rodrick’s cool girlfriend, are a real part of his life. greg, for one, can’t wrap his head around it—how did his brother manage to land someone like you? he even has a tiny crush on you, which he tries (and fails) to hide. during playdates, he and rowley keep sneaking wide-eyed glances at you, pretending to be fully focused on video games whenever you catch them staring.
susan, on the other hand, is thrilled to have you around. as a mom of three boys, she’s practically adopted you as her honorary daughter, showering you with warmth and enthusiasm every time you’re over. she’ll share every childhood story she can think of about rodrick—some endearing, most embarrassing—while he sits there mortified. she’ll even drag out the family photo albums when you’re around, cooing over old pictures of baby rodrick in onesies covered with embarrassing slogans.
then there’s mr. heffley, who’s suspiciously nice to you. he goes out of his way to make sure that sure the house is spotless when you come over, almost like he’s worried you’ll wise up to what a disaster rodrick can be and leave. every time rodrick says something dumb, mr. heffley’s shoulders tense, and he sneaks glances at you, hoping you don’t suddenly see you’re too good for his son.
and manny… well, you do your best to steer clear of that kid whenever you can.
it’s a typical dinner at the heffleys’. you’re seated next to rodrick, his hand resting on your knee under the table as he gives you a lopsided grin between bites. across from you, greg keeps sneaking glances at your chest. little perv.
once everyone’s settled with their plates, susan clears her throat, leaning forward with a bright, overly cheerful smile. “y/n,” she starts, clasping her hands like she’s about to impart some life-changing advice, “it’s just wonderful that you and rodrick are so… close.” she gives an small, knowing nod, and rodrick stiffens next to you.
“it’s very important,” she continues, picking up a carrot stick and an onion ring, “for young people in a… special relationship to be, you know…” she pauses, clearly hunting for the most embarrassing words possible, before adding, “prepared for close situations.” she looks at you and then at rodrick, before doing a little… mime with the carrot and onion ring. greg yelps, “MOM!” and pretends to gag, slapping both hands over his face like he’s been scarred for life. mr. heffley chokes on his mashed potatoes, reaching for his water with wide eyes.
“just remember,” she says, completely oblivious to the horror around her, “things can get… spicy, but a smart girl like you knows to have… protection.” she gives another exaggerated nod, waving her “lesson” props before setting them down, satisfied. rodrick’s hand tightens on your knee, and he mutters, “oh my god, kill me now,” through gritted teeth, trying to keep his cool despite the absolute humiliation.
mr. heffley takes a deep breath, giving you a look that says he really hopes you won’t dump rodrick over this—but he’d totally understand if you did.

Exploring ~ Rodrick Heffley x Male Reader
Getting it on with the local emo Top!Rodrick x Bottom!Reader word count: 610 Nsfw / MDNI ~ amab m!reader / FDNI
Imagine weekly makeouts with Rodrick
Him coming over to your house to "do homework" and instead spending the whole Saturday with you in his lap, his tongue playing with yours as his hands rest on your hips
The two of you aren't dating or anything! You're just... exploring your sexualitites - it's perfectly natural as 18/19 year olds!
Kissing slowly becoming not enough to satiate the carnal desires Rodrick feels for you, soft grinding starting to come adjacent to the many hour-long, weekly makeout sessions
The rocker just can't get enough if the sounds you make as he rubs his hard dick against yours through his jeans. And you fucking love the low grunts Rodrick makes in your mouth as he kisses you or in your ear, along with a sexy groan of your name
Eventually, the two of you decided to take your sexual affairs to a new level - your parents had left you the house for two days and Rodrick's dick had hardened almost immediately when he found out
Your poor bed could barely fit the two of you, but you made it work
Rodrick above you, his muscles on full display as he slowly fucked into you turned you on to the max - he promised to go slow and he did, but mainly because he didn't want to cum in 5 seconds!
Your moans are what pushed the rocker over the edge. Your sweet and sexy sounds, along with your tight, warm walls, made the man shoot his load instantly
And from the way Rodrick panted and moaned above you, to the way he held onto your waist his his sexy, masculine, nail-painted and ring-adorned hands, jesus christ you came right away!
Over time, the two of you became more experienced; sex would last longer than the 15 minutes it took your first time, and you would both go for multiple rounds
You found out that Rodrick loves to have you suck his dick, look down at you as you cry from how huge his cock is, his pubes stuffing your nose as he softly caresses your cheek
The rocker had also become a huge fan of eating you out, after you taught him exactly how you like it, the man can't get enough of you! And the man has tricks too! He fingers your prostate to high heaven while eating you out and makes you cum within seconds!
All that to say that Rodrick's shape had pretty much indented into not only your ass but your bed - your parents were convinced that you two were dating from how often the man slept at yours!
But that doesn't mean you two don't mess about at Rodrick's house as well!
His Christian parents just make it a little harder to do so, that's why you pretend to be a part of his band
His parents don't know that Rodrick and you do it in his van every Sunday (lol)
Loud rock music playing from a radio to drown out the pornographic sounds that might escape the violently rocking van
It's safe to say the two of you have become addicted to one another; from your scents to your bodies to your voices, you fucking love all of Rodrick and he fucking loves all of you
So it wasn't much of a shocker when Rodrick randomly asked you to be his boyfriend one day, dick balls deep inside of you
You short-circuited and blue-balled him as punishment for making such a special moment so gross!
But later that day, you two made up and out, the night finishing with your typical make-out sesh and as boyfriend and boyfriend!

Rodrick headcanons.
————————————
Author’s note: just some fluff headcanons about our favorite drummer <3
————————————
Rodrick is the type of boyfriend that takes the bus only because you take it too
Or he would be driving you to school, but when he found out that he could sleep on the bus too,
He was taking it everyday.
He falls asleep on your shoulder, and to wake him up you have to give him an hard shake.
Like really hard.
If you buy him a good eyeliner and a good makeup remover, he’s gonna be the happiest man alive.
He never really takes off his makeup
And he ends up looking like a panda
So you saved his life.
Nap dates!
At school, he sleeps, stares at you, and writes some lyrics for his band.
He doesn’t really listens
Because he knows you’re gonna explain everything to him after school.
Doesn’t know how to read the room.
Rodrick has to look cool, so he can’t show to anyone how smitten for you he actually is.
Especially in front of his family.
Will ask you to do his makeup, only if he notices that you wear it everyday
And that didn’t happen soon
(He’s a bit slow)
He thought you were only gonna do his eyeliner
But then you show up at his house with all your makeup products
And he’s forced to put all those things on his skin.
Will complain a lot about the foundation
And you definitely will poke his eye with both the eyeliner and the mascara.
after Heather's birthday (iykyk) he went back home in shame and cried
as his best friend, you had to comfort him
and after that, he noticed how much you take care of him
like…always
things that he never gave importance to
and he started liking you
fuck Heather (real 😔), there was you
now he was around you even more
calling you late at night
he confessed on the phone because he was too shy
(but you accepted anyway)
and the morning after, he came to pick you up
(his cheeks were so red)
you gave him a kiss on the cheek instead of the usual small hug
and he melted
you didn't really really talk to him at school, but then confronted him about it
and you made official your relationship
at first you didn't tell anyone
(even if it was obvious)
but then Greg saw you two all snuggled up in his bed
and he told his mom just to spite Rodrick
————————————
and from there the whole world knew.
here's part two

Tired of giving you all of me (Reader x Rodrick Heffley)

Summary: You've had a crush on Rodrick for a while now, you finally dared to go ask him something. When Rodrick seems to invite you more for bandstuff. It takes you a while to finally see he was just using you for his own good. Rodrick realizing it too late that he can't think of anyone else. [idk if this will even be popular or that there is still a demand for, but ever since I saw the movie again I needed to get the idea out, so if this is only for me, so be it] - (N/Y/N stands for not your name)
You were very nervous. Very nervous about approaching him and asking for a shirt. Rodrick Heffley stood by his locker with two of his band members. Laughing and goofing around with his drumsticks. Pretending to punch the guitarist in the stomach whilst laughing loud. Collecting all your courage, you got in motion.
First hesitant but then you were already walking, it would seem idiotic to turn on your heel and leave. Only having to endure your poor decision. Heart thumping loud as you clutched the book in your hand a bit too hard against your chest.
Your feet stopped behind him as he still had no clue of your presence behind him. Taking a deep breath, you went to tap him on the shoulder. Rodrick stopped laughing, taking a half spin toward you on his heels. His eyes widened briefly before they settled with boredness.
"Yes?"- Rodrick said with a hard stare it made you want to crawl away. -"Hi Rodrick... I...I was thinking if I could get a shirt?"- you asked with all the confidence you could find. Which wasn't a lot. Rodrick scratched the back of his head confused with a drumstick. -"From your band."- you flapped out.
Swallowing nervously afterwards. -"How much are they?"- you then asked when he remained silent. He looked over his shoulder to his bandmates before letting his arm rest against the lockers. -"N/Y/N right?"- he said totally getting your name wrong. -" It's Y/n actually."- you corrected shyly.
Not that he was listening. -"Look our shirts are practically sold out."- he told you with a cool attitude. -"Really?"- you questioned, so gullible in believing it. Rodrick puffed loud, waving his drumstick down. -"Yeah."- he said as you saw his drum mates snicker behind him.
"But if you really must have one."- Rodrick spoke unbothered. -"I think I can find a spare one at home."- he let you know. -"Okay cool."- you responded with a shy smile. You turned around, feeling as hot as a stove. Rodrick puffed sarcastically, lowering his elbow from against the locker. Turning back around, he grabbed the guitarist by his neck, pulling him low to give his head a good rub.
Counting the cash in your hands, you walked up to the Heffley household. Unsure how much Rodrick would charge you for a shirt, you came prepared. Ready to spend to one hundred bucks just for a shirt from him. You hated how expensive your crush on him was getting. Tugging the money away, you rose your hand to knock. Three firm knocks, making you take a step back. From behind the door you heard commotion.
Making you plaster up a smile. -"I'm already going."- a voice said whilst opening the door. A young boy answered the door, looking you up and down. You figured it must be Greg. Rodrick's younger brother. -"It's a girl."- he shouted to someone to the right. There was a loud gasp as you felt a bit uncomfortable.
The door got opened more as mrs. Heffley pushed Greg aside with a surprised look. -"Hello mrs. Heffley. My name is Y/n, I'm in Rodrick's class. Is he here?"- you introduced yourself. Greg started laughing as his mother nudged him hard in the elbow.
Her eyes seemed to lit up as she held her finger up. Almost trying her best not to smile so over exciting. -"Rodrick dear, there's a girl to see you."- his mom called out at the foot of the stairs. Greg kept staring at you questionable. -"What did he do?"- Greg asked curious.
"Nothing."- you replied, moving your hands behind your back to occupy them. -"He paid you right?"- Greg assumed. -"Nope."- you anwered with a shake of your head. -"No way a girl wants to talk to Rodrick willingly."- Greg let out laughing. -"Rodrick!"- His mother called out again, more annoyed now.
You heard a door slam followed by loud thumping. -"What?"- Rodrick called out annoyed, scratching his hair. -"Rodrick."- his mom made clear with a nudge to you at the door. Rodrick's gaze went to you. He then immediately rushed back upstairs. -"Rodrick"- His mom yelled out as his behavior.
"Auch."- Greg said to you, walking off snickering. Waiting here for a shirt made you feel scammed. Like you were waiting for nothing, only to be fooled and laughed at. Lowering your gaze, you were about to turn back when there were more loud stomps. Rodrick rushed down the stairs, walking up to the door.
"N/Y/N right."- he was wrong again. -"Y/n."- you corrected him with a polite smile. Rodrick puffed unamused. -"Got my money?"- he said as you immediately grabbed for your money. -"How much is it?"- you asked as Rodrick's eyes widened on seeing the money in your hands.
He plucked the cash from your hands. All of it. Too bothered with the money, he threw the shirt at your face. It blinded you as a second later you heard the door slam. Taking the shirt down, you took a look at it. It was an ugly grey shirt with löader diaper written on it with a marker.
"You could've given me a nicer color!"- you shouted at the door. How ripped off you felt. Sighing soft, you went down the driveway back to your bicycle. Placing the shirt in the front basket, you started cycling home as the sun had already set.
Thinking about how Rodrick clearly had no interest in you and ripped you off by taking all your money, made you cry. Wiping your eyes constantly to keep your vision clear. All that for a boy you like. Something you were never daring enough to do something about it.
The next day at school, you were sitting in class waiting for the teacher to enter. Gaze low on your books till you saw a set of black painted nails set on your desk. Moving your gaze up, you met up with Rodrick Heffley. -"N/Y/N."- he said lowering his head down keep a low voice. -"Y/n."- you sighed out at once again your name being wrong.
"Löader diaper has a gig tonight, can you come?"- he asked, looking over his shoulder if anyone was listening in. Your eyes lit up, curling up a smile. -"Really?"- you replied trying to dim your excitement. -"Yeah income fee is 10 bucks."- he told you. -"Didn't you already took enough money from me."- you pointed out at the hundred bucks he claimed ownership over.
Rodrick puffed loud, looking away. You kept glaring at him to make your point. -"I'm already giving you a fan discount."- he responded tapping on your book. -"You're a leech."- you muttered out. Rodrick smiled tauntingly.
The teacher walked in, dismissing Rodrick to his desk. You could barely pay attention. Constantly thinking of the upcoming gig. Of Rodrick Heffley actually having asked for your presence. Wanting another fan there. Unable to stop yourself from smiling, you were glad Rodrick sat somewhere far behind you.
For the gig, you had put on the band shirt. Trying to make it as flattering as you could. You arrived at the gig after having gotten the text from Rodrick. Waiting by the entrance for him. You received some looks, all looking at your shirt.
Not the good kind of looks. Jumping back, the white van hit the brakes fast in front of you. The windows were down as the guitarist thumped his hand against the car door. -"Shirt girl!"- he called out. The comment made you roll your eyes, but still it was better than Rodrick giving you each time a different name.
Rodrick had gotten out, opening the side door, revealing another band member laying down with his legs up. Rodrick whistled loud calling you over. You went over to him. He took one glance at your shirt before grabbing a bag and shoving it in your hands.
"This needs to get backstage."- he said shoving another bag in your hands. -"Ro...Rodrick"- you breathed out confused. He gave you in each hand, held by a few fingers two more bags. -" Thanks N/Y/N."- he said getting it wrong again with a pat against your cheek.
You wanted to correct him, but had slightly enough of it. Rodrick motioned for you to get a move on. Sighing loud, you carefully made your way backstage. Trying hard not to trip. The last few meters you tumbled forwards as the bags plopped out of your hands.
Exhaling loud, you were out of breath. Returning to them, you got handed over more bags and gear. Going back and forth... alone with no help from them. Exhausted and worn out, you made your way to the stage. Needing a moment to see the room was close to empty.
Just some drunks, some weird gathering club that clearly couldn't book another venue and a guy already starting to clean up. You were the only one, who moved to the front of the stage. Looking uncomfortable around. The band got on stage as Rodrick went to sit behind the drums. They introduced themselves as you were the only one clapping.
Rodrick started to slam the drums as they played one of their favorite songs. You tried to ignore the drunks behind you, enjoying their gig. They played a few songs till the guy cleaning up cut the lights, setting them in darkness. He didn't even apologize as Rodrick suddenly stopped playing.
Staring saddened in front of him. Taking his drumsticks, he left the stage in anger. You quickly made your way backstage. Seeing Rodrick scratch the drumstick in his hair. -"You were amazing."- you complimeted them. Rodrick stopped, eyes widening at you.
He than laughed loud. -" Pack up N/Y/N."- wrong again. -"It's Y/n"- you made clear with a glare. -"Whatever." - he answered letting the drumstick twirl between his fingers. Sighing loud, you collected the bags. This time the other bandmates helped out with the heavier gear. Rodrick waiting in the car, behind the wheel.
After the car was loaded, he drove off without offering you a ride home or a goodbye. Sighing soft, you went home alone. Ever since the gig, you got pulled up more and more by Rodrick to do things for him. Charming you each time with something fun till he made you do everything. Basically becoming their roadie for everything.
Rodrick sat at diner, discussing the upcoming talent show, he wants to join with his band. It could be his major breakthrough. Greg snorted loud, receiving a stomp underneath the table from him. -"Auch."- Greg called out. Rodrick mimicked his pathetic whining as their parents sighed loud. -"So Rodrick... this talentshow... you'll need a lot of preparation right."- his dad started to gear up a conversation. -"Duh."- Rodrick answered with a full mouth.
"I'm so prepared for our breakthrough, I'm making more shirts."- Rodrick let out. -"Oh."- his mother responded intrigued. Rodrick lowered his fork. -"I'm letting Y/n do all the work."- he answered chuckling. His father's fork dropped, clattering against his plate. Staring with wide eyes of shock at his wife. -"Hold up."- his mom began.
"Are you telling me you are using Y/n to do your work?"- she made clear. -"Yeah."- Rodrick replied obviously. His father threw his hands up. -"Wow."- Greg said dramatically. Rodrick looked at everyone not getting what was wrong about it. Rodrick's phone rang as the name popped up on the screen. His mom taking a quick glance at who was calling him. Minion. Rodrick got up, picking up the phone. -"N/Y/N."- he said all smug. He heard you sigh on the other side.
"Are you even trying?"- you asked him at once again calling you wrong. -"How are my shirts?"- Rodrick asked avoiding your question. -"Done... I'll drop them off later."- you yawned loud after your sentance. -"Cool."- Rodrick answered before ending the call.
You arrived at the Heffley household with two bags full of hand-made Löaded diaper t-shirts. Rodrick opened the door without any acknowledgement to you. He took a bag from you, looking inside. -"How many are there?"- he asked. -"40."- you told him with a smile. Rodrick dropped his gaze at you.
"40? I asked you to make 70."- Rodrick called out. -"No you didn't."- you replied sure you were right. Rodrick sighed taking out his phone. -"There, see."- he showed you the texts between him and you. Your eyes widening at the nametag. Minion. In horror you stared at it, not even caring for the number. -"What?"- Rodrick called out, looking back at his phone.
"Is that what I am to you?"- you shouted. Your sudden loud voice startled him. -"Minion. You're just using me!"- you threw the bag full of shirts at him. It hit him in the chest as he caught it before it would fall to the ground. -"What is the big deal about it."- he answered unbothered.
It pained you to finally see the reality. Having not wanting to see it for so long. Always telling yourself that he liked you. That you were only helping him out cause he wanted to be close to you. Turns out you were wrong. Unable to control yourself, you started crying.
"The deal?"- you called out. -"You're using me to do your dirty work and I stupidely let you. I let you use me because I wanted to be close to you."- you cried out in a state of hysteria. -"Because I'm in love with you!"- you confessed wiping your tears away agressivly. Rodrick staring with wide eyes back at you, unsure what to say.
You threw the second bag of shirts at him as well. Rodrick tried ducking for it, but it hit his shoulder when he ducked to the side. -"You are the worst Rodrick Heffley!"- you shouted wanting to hit him but your hand lingured in the air. Rodrick having turned his head, ready to receive the impact.
Yet it never came. Slowly opening his eyes to you. -"Get my goddamn name right!"- was the final thing you shouted at him before running off. Crying so loud, you had to keep wiping your eyes dry to see something. Rodrick swallowed nervously, entering the house once more.
Greg jumped in front of him all jokingly. -"Ha! You loser."- Greg laughed out, making fun of his brother. Rodrick clenched his jaw, jumping at Greg. Pulling his head under his armpit out of angerness. Greg started calling it out for mercy as Rodrick gave him none.
"Rodrick!"- his mother shouted pulling at his shoulder. Rodrick let go of Greg with a loud huff. -"That's it!"- she called out when Greg taunted Rodrick once more. Rodrick nearly jumping at him to mess with him. -"No talent show for you!"- mrs. Heffley made clear.
"What? But it could be my great breakthrough."- Rodrick answered pleadingly. -"I am sick of your behavior and how you just treated Y/n is beyond how I raised you! You need to learn some respect Rodrick!"- she said as a final. Rodrick stomped up the stairs angered to his room. Slamming the door shut. Letting himself slide down against his wall. Palms pressed deep onto his eyes. Knees to chest as he felt at a sudden loss.
Rodrick hated that his mom still made him come to the talentshow. He was waiting in the open room before being seated. He looked around, gaze stopping as he spotted you. He made the effort of wanting to greet you or talk to you. You locked eyes with him, giving him a glare. Before he could stop you, you walked off.
"Y/n..."- Rodrick said as it never reached you. Being ignored so obviously. Exhaling loud, he lowered his hand once more. Turning his head, he met up with his mother's gaze. A lot of sympathy in it. Rodrick shrugged her off, heading for the theater. He took his seat next to his mom at the outside.
He had a good view at backstage. Eyes widening as he saw his bandmates and Bill appear backstage. His eyes widened even more seeing you appear near them. -"Be right back."- Rodrick said slipping out of his seat. Making his way down to the stage to find a way backstage. -"What is going on?"- he called out confused. Bill laughed doofily. -"Are you playing without me?"- he asked feeling betrayed.
"Yeah."- Bill answered groovily. -"But I started the band."- Rodrick replied in shock they would play without him. -"That's rock and roll dude."- Bill told him. -"Oh and I took your minion too."- Bill let out. Rodrick's eyes widened with anger. Before he knew it, his fist swung at Bill's jaw. Bill tumbling to the ground.
"You stay the hell away from Y/n!"- he called out as his guitarist had to pull him back. -"Rodrick?"- you said confused approaching. You had left for a second to fetch them some water. Rodrick looked back at you with a gulp. He took as step closer to you, saddened to have being so stupid.
You set the waterbottles down, taking your leave. -"Y/n!"- Rodrick called out making you stop. -"I'm sorry..."- he apologized. You shook your head not wanting to hear it. -"You never are."- you told him. Rodrick ran up to you when you started to distance yourself from him. -"Y/n."- Rodrick repeated grabbing your wrist to pull you to a stop. -"I'm tired of being used by you."- you called out. You wanted to turn around when Rodrick took your other wrist as well, keeping you in place. -"I'm an idiot."- he confessed.
"An idiot for not seeing what was right in front of me. I shouldn't have used you or take you for granted. I'm really sorry about that Y/n but please don't hate me. That is the least thing I want."- he finished. Rolling your eyes at him, you puffed loud, turning away from him. Rodrick pulled you back to him. Lips crashing onto yours.
So caught up with you, he hadn't seen how he was on the stage. The curtains dropping as the kiss was displayed to the entire theater. There were gasps all around and muttering. The guitarist trying to get his attention. Rodrick retrieved his lips, looking shyly around at the peering eyes.
Annoyed, he pulled you backstage. Looking back at you, he snapped his finger in front of you. Seeing how frozen you had gotten from the kiss. -"Must I kiss you to unfreeze you Y/n?"- he teased with a chuckle. You immediately shook your head, hand pressing against his chest. Rodrick smiled moving a hand on your lower back to kiss you again. Not taking you for granted anymore.

“How was that?”
You ask, looking at Rodrick who has a smile on his face, you just got done singing a new song you wrote for the band. You were pretty nervous about it too, it was one that gave you writer’s block since you wanted to be perfect.
“You always sound good,” Rodrick comments, laying back on the couch manspreading; gripping onto the drumsticks he held in his hand.
“I’m happy you liked it.” You question, a smile tugging at the corner of your lips, you walk over to where he’s sitting, immediately taking your seat on his lap, taking his sticks out of his hand, placing it on the couch cushion, as his hands cups your waist, moving slowly towards your ass, squeezing it while he captures your soft lips with his after staring deeply into your eyes.
You knew what you two were doing was bad, intimacy between band mates was against the rules so no conflict were to ever happen if breakups were to concur but the magnetic pull that keeps bringing you two together since you met is so strong that you can’t just walk away from those feelings. Whenever he looks at you when he thinks you are not looking, it gets you all giddy inside, the butterflies that form in your stomach whenever you sing in front of him because his opinion always mattered the most out of everyone.
His hands grips the hem of your shirt, pulling it over your head breaking the kiss for only a second, he unclamps your bra, discarding to the ground as you grind over his growing bulge that you can tell was aching to be released from the restraints of his jeans.
Your hands travel down to his lower waist, unbuttoning his jeans, zipping down the zipper while you lift your body for a minute so he can take off both his jeans and his boxers, his hard cock springing up once it’s released.
“Let me check the waters,” Rodrick says, bringing his hand under your skirt, feeling the wet spot on your panties, a smirk tugs on the corner of his lips as he pulls your panty to the side, lining up his tip to your entrance. “Look at my princess, all wet for me.”
Your face heats up at his comment as you sink down slowly, biting down on your bottom lip as you enjoy every inch until you flush against his pelvis.
You hold on to his shoulders as you start to grind your hips slowly to get used to his length briefly before you start to bounce up and down on his cock. You squeeze your eyes shut from how good he feels inside of you. It was like your pussy was made only for him as it fits perfectly better than your ex ever did.
His hands grip your waist tightly as he guides your movements, the sounds of your moans mingling with each other filling the garage as if anyone was to walk by, they would hear what was going on and it excites you more.
“Oh fuck,” he groans, keeping eye contact with you as you continue bouncing, loving the squelching noises your pussy was making. You moans spill out your mouth as you’re loving every second of this.
Rodrick arms wrap around your waist stopping all movement as he holds you while getting up, placing you on your stomach near the edge of the couch not disconnecting from your greedy cunt.
“If only you can see how pretty you are as you take all of me,” He comments, admiring the sight beneath him as he rolls his hips into you, soft moans escaping out of your slightly parted mouth as you grip the couch.
“Perfect, little pussy suckin’ me right in,” He groans as he keeps his pace looking into your pretty eyes. “Fuck— please…” you whimper.
“Please what? Use your words, tell me what you want, love,” Rodrick watches you try to form complete sentences as he thrust deeper inside of you, your moans filling his ears. He smirks once again, knowing he got you too fucked out to talk.
Your boobs bouncing with each thrust, he looks at your sweat-slick belly, he reaches down to your breasts and his mouth trails down the valley of your breasts, biting and nibbling on the soft flesh, tongue swirling on the marks forming on your skin as his saliva leaves wet spots behind.
"So soft for me, (name), look at you" he huffs out, trailing downwards, reaching your stomach and something in his eyes change a shade darker, pounding into your cunt, the mewls in response from you drives him crazy, his mind going to places he shouldn't but the only thing that came to his mind was you full with his baby, your belly so round and soft. It would be one way to mark you as his, to stop all the guys from flirting with you after shows.
“Please… let me come,” you finally get out as you dig your nails into his back.
“Go ahead, come all over my cock,” he groans as he uses his fingers to rub on your clit. Your cunt clenching around his dick, and your body starts to convulse, painting not only his cock but his lower waist as well with your release.
“Good girl,” Rodrick praises in your ear as you try to catch your breath. “Gonna fill you up real good, would you like that, love?” He pounds harder and deeper as his cock twitches inside your cunt loving the sight of you nodding your head yes to his question, your gummy walls gripping him tighter. “You’d look so beautiful while carrying my child,” He places his hand on your stomach as he is picturing the sight.
The mere images made his cock twitch inside you, your lewd noises of overstimulation just making it hard to back off from actually doing it, the pace he set is ruthless, pounding inside your sopping hole, slippery with your juices as he chases his end.
Your lips parted, whined spewing out of your mouth as he fucks you, hitting the spongy spot repeatedly, nearing his own orgasm as he fills you up to the brim with his hot white spurts of seeds, his breath warm on your neck, your legs tightly wrapped around his waist, perfectly fitting inside, hitting the spots in an angle never before, catching up with his depleted air levels as he looks down at your fucked out state, hands connected while your bodies connected as well with his cock still buried deep to the hilt inside your warm core, the images still plagued his mind.
Rodrick slowly pulls out and as he does, he watches some of his cum ooze from your hole, he scoops it up and pushes it back into your pussy earning a whimper to escape your mouth. “I know baby, just needed to make sure none of it goes to waste, let’s clean you up,” he picks you up in bridal style, you snuggle in his chest while he carries you inside your home, leading you to the bathroom, happy of what’s to come in the future.

Rodrick, you, prom! ♡
You were never the type of girl to wear eye makeup. You're more of a cheek tint-lip gloss girl when it comes to make up so when your crush commented on how you would look good with smokey eyes, you asked your neighbor for help.
"Come on, you've done it a thousand times, you just gotta show me how!"
"And why, all of a sudden, do you wanna start using eye liner?" Rodrick asked.
"Err because I have this crush on a guy and he said that I would look good in them."
Rodrick scoffed, "no way I am teaching you to seduce some air head."
"Okay first of all, you don't know him. Second, prom is a few weeks away and no one has asked me out yet!"
"You're doing this so that somebody would ask you to prom?"
"Yeah, I assume you'll ask Heather, and he is the only chance I have for a date. Come on..."
"Ugh fine!"
"Yesss," you exclaimed.
"I, Rodrick Heffley, will go to prom with you," Rodrick exclaimed, his hand on his chest declaring a statement you have never expected.
"What?"
"What? You don't want me to?" He asked pensively.
You paused. You and Rodrick have been friends since kindergarten so you never really saw him that way. Although, in preparation for prom, you may have thought of the idea of you and Rodrick going to prom, you just dismissed it because he wouldn't shut up about Heather.
"What about Heather?"
"What about Heather?" He repeated.
"Rodrick, I swear, if you are messing with me right now-"
"Hey, are we gonna keep pretending nothing's going on between us?"
"What?" You asked but you know exactly what he means.
"Don't tell me you didn't know people are starting this rumor about us dating," he said as sat on his bed, motioning for you to sit beside him. "or us going to prom together," he continued.
"But, what about Heather?"
"Yes, Heather's hot," you rolled your eyes at him. He was quick to wrap his arms around your waist.
"But I would rather be with an even hotter mess like you."

i wish i were Heather Hills
part 3 to my rodrick fic ! read pt 1 here
this has been long awaited! Im sorry if my writings gotten a bit rusty :( i'll be more active i swear!!!!
summary: Y/n and Rodrick notice a drift in their relationship. Earlier, Heather swears to become a home wrecker to the two because she just cant stand Rodrick having anyone other than her.
warnings: heavy make-out, fantasising, allusions to future sexual intentions, bitch behaviour, yearning, sexual assault (slightly), crying
Rodrick and y/n havent talked for 4 days. Considering they were usually knee deep in each others business, this was definitely out of the normal.
Y/n sighs inaudibly as the muffled sound of her Chemistry teacher blabbering turned quieter as moments sprang. Yet, amidst the solemn peaceful sound of nothing she struggles to remember where it all went south.
Rodrick looked into y/n's eyes lovingly with something she'd never seen in him before, intertwining their hands together as he signalled for her to get up with him. She stood up reluctantly and took one last whiff of her cigarette before putting it out with the base of her foot. The sound of it going out satisfied her every time. She dragged her ashy boots along the pavement as they walked away from the half broken vending machine, her head in the nook of his shoulder, just the way she liked it.
Heather stood proudly with a smirk plastered along her face, one that no one could consider accusing of something heinous and she wore that with pride. A little something called pretty privilege she'd say. Something clicked in that blonde head of hers. She was going to make Y/n's life reigned over jealousy.
Rodrick grabbed Y/n's cheeks with delicate urgency as if he was almost primitive in his actions. He gave her one soft kiss before seeing that glint in her eyes that made him go crazy. Y/n let out a soft groan as he kissed her hard and long, so passionately she wanted to cry. No one's ever appreciated her the way Rodrick does. Their saliva mixed and fought for dominance while the sounds they produced were so obscene that it made her wet every time she thought about it. His pretty boy moans, his breathless expression, his half lidded eyes and long eyelashes that made her heart skip a beat more than she'd like to admit. Everything about the boy was perfect. No one could ever ruin this moment.
knock knock
Y/n's mirage of fantasies were quickly toppled over when a certain redhead blew her mind back to reality for the 3rd time this week. In the distance she saw Rodrick talking to Heather, funnily the 4th time this week. Her eyes were still puffy as she tried to digest the situation before her but her attention was quickly brought back.
"Hey, Hey! Look. At. Me. I told you to forget about him. He's no good for you y/n." said the messy haired redhead.
These were the words that often left Alex's mouth. Always about Rodrick not being good enough for her, not up to her class. What was he even trying to do?
"But its only been 4 days. Surely things couldn't have gone so wrong is 4 fucking days." Y/n said with anger threaded in her tone. She couldn't stand Alex, Rodrick, or more so Heather. She was somehow winning again. Just when y/n finally got a taste of what she wanted. She managed to ruin her life just like she always did.
"C'mon sweet'eart, its Rodrick we're talking about. Class act asshole."
she remembered the way Rodrick held her head in his chest, so lovingly, so gently like she was a piece of fine china. The way he cared for her when she abused herself. The way he looked into her eyes and called her pretty each time he stared a little too long.
"Rodrick's not like that. He's not an asshole. Not to me atleast" she said as she stared off into his direction again, a certain ache prominent in her heart.
"Please dont lie to yourself. Dont hurt yourself again."
"Why are you even talking to me Alex? You want to fuck me or something?" Y/n said plainly with not a hint of amusement in her features.
Alex's face got red, slightly hot and he felt like he had been caught. But he knew that was not the reason he'd been trying to distract her, though definitely an appealing one now that he's thought of it.
"W-what, No! I just wanted to help you out, a-and get to know you better, seeing you were crying and all." he scrambled
"Well that's very nice of you but let me put it plainly. I don't need help." she said through gritted teeth and red eyes.
Being a people pleaser all her life, she felt satisfied and a tad bit guilty at the way she handled the redhead, but oh well. That wasn't enough to knock Alex down especially after the very attractive bribe Heather gave him earlier that week.
"I'll invite you to all my parties."
"And...."
"Oh for goodness sake Alex- That should be enough to convince you as is!"
"Well... You're asking me to do quite a lot... And not to mention Rodrick's a pretty tough cookie to crumble..."
"Ugh. Fine! And a kiss. One. Kiss." Heather sighed as she rolled her eyes.
"Okay, ill do it." Alex said with glittered eyes.
Heather had presented a very... lucrative offer to Alex to try and break the couple apart, and somehow it was working.
Rodrick being the dumb loser he was, didnt think to ask y/n about the whole situation but could you really blame him?
"Hey Roddy, bout' that drum gig... how about 100 smackaroos per hour? Sound good?" Heather said with fake innocence through batted falsies and glossy lips she just touched up.
100 dollars. He couldn't give up 100 dollars an hour just like that. Also that stupid fucking nickname he hated so so much because he knew how much it pissed you off. He thought of all the things he could buy you, flowers, makeup, books, movie tickets, your favourite candy, the list went on with all the things that would make you happy. His mind was clouded with you, you, you and the way he'd make it up to you for this whole misunderstanding. The loving he'd show you after this was all over. He missed you so much.
"Yea, sure why not." Rodrick said reluctantly as he leaned further back into the brick wall he'd been perched up against. Each rough grain getting caught between his jackets fabric by the force.
"Okay! Perfect." Heather said while holding both of Rodrick's calloused hands in her own delicately manicured ones.
He quickly pulled away before realising that y/n saw the situation unravel for what felt like the hundredth time this week. Heather bounced away with a smile to her pretty face, hips swaying in her mini skirt practically with her ass hanging out.
Before he could explain, Alex blocked his field of view by giving y/n a big fat kiss.
"Woah what the fuck?" Y/n mumbled through his lips as she tried to pry Alex's heavy body off of her.
Rodrick thought back to when Heather mentioned she saw y/n give Alex a peck on the cheek. Rodrick didn't want to believe that she could be so dumb to do it right in-front of him but after seeing this how could he not feel a slight twinge of doubt pull at his heart. Like his pessimistic mindset, things you hope to be true usually aren't and he was pissed the fuck off.
Before he could think straight, he dragged his feet against the pavement, anger laced in his steps as he pushed Alex's scrawny body off of Y/n. Rodrick noticed how glassy her eyes were and wanted to hug her and tell her everything was okay. Nobody would touch her anymore. But Heathers words kept ringing in the back of his head. She doesn't like you anymore. She likes Alex but is afraid to tell you Roddy. So don't believe her bullshit excuses.
"Dude- the fuck is your problem!" Alex exclaimed while shoving Rodrick's chest. His shoes squeaking against the ground.
"The fuck are you doing kissing my girl?" Rodrick said more angrily than he'd like to come off.
"Just stop it! I don't need this to happen right now!" Y/n yelled as her cheeks got red. Rodrick cursed himself for thinking about how pretty she looked when she got like that. Y/n ran off before covering her head with her hoodie into the girls restroom.
"Looks like she doesn't need her supposed man to defend her huh?" Alex said with an annoying smug look.
"Just fuck off you cunt. Don't ever touch her again." Rodrick said before walking away defeated.
Y/n gripped the ledge of the sinks edge, finger pads bruising the surface before sobbing as quietly as she could. She hated all the unnecessary attention crying brought her at school and just wanted to shrivel up and die. Just as things couldn't get any worse, she heard the familiar tone of Heathers voice arise in the distance.
"No like he was sooo in on it. Im telling you girls he's still into me like- Oh." Heather stopped in her tracks as she saw y/n perched up in a position she had always wanted to see.
"Aw, what happened babe." Heather said with the thickest whiff of fake sincerity her voice could put out. Yet y/n wanted it to be real. She wanted Heather to actually feel bad. To apologise for being such a shit person and a home wrecker.

“Its always been you”
I wrote this for a friend, but I decided to post so enjoy Rodrick Heffley fucking you in a bathroom folks. Also if anyone wants to commission anything HIT ME UP!
Rodrick Heffley x AFAB! reader (18+ Minors DNI)
Includes: Fingering (f! receiving), drunk sex, p in v
Word count: 2,567
The party was loud, the atmosphere thick with fun and desperation, which of the two you were was lost to you as you crept through the hallways, drunken bodies pressed against you and almost spilling what was left in your solo cup.
You were trying to find your friend, a common thing that seems to happen to you despite your attempts to get it to stop. But ever the lover boy, Rodrick always got swept up in the crowd once Heather Hills was spotted, leaving you in the shadow of her spotlight. You knew this was going to happen, and you didn’t even want to go to this stupid party!
Rodrick could be terribly convincing when he wanted to be, unfortunately, promises to stay with you this time spilling from his pretty lips, and you couldn’t do anything but say yes. It was stupid, you were stupid, having a crush on a boy who didn’t necessarily want nothing to do with you, but he certainly didn’t want you in that way.
Stepping into the kitchen, you found who you were looking for, and you downed the rest of your drink as a result. It was the same as always, Rodrick trying, and failing, to impress Heather, but it was still a sight you couldn’t bear to see.
“ ‘Scuse me.” You grumbled, trying to reach the liquor that resided behind the pair.
“ Oh sorr-heyyyyy whatsup?” Rodrick, clearly drunk, slurred out once he recognized it was you.
“ Same as always.” You couldn’t help but be a little snippy, already having talked about how you didn’t like how he just left your side at a party, especially one that he convinced you to go to.
“ Oh-Heather wait!” He scurried past you, flashing you a smile as he chased the “girl of his dreams”.
Arguably a little bit too pissed off at how he left you again, you poured yourself another drink after taking a shot. Maybe it was a bad decision, trying to put out the flames of your anger with alcohol, but your already tipsy brain didn’t have any care to give.
You left the kitchen, body instinctively going towards the vibrations of the bass, following the music to the living room where it was the loudest. You got lost in the sea of bodies, chugging your drink occasionally while your hips swayed as you let the music overtake you.
Eventually your cup ran dry, you frowned once you knocked your head back, and realized you were met with nothing. You were certainly feeling it though, and that fact compelled you to want to get another one. With the room spinning, and you definitely stumbling, you made your way back to the kitchen. Pouring yourself one more, you rested on the counter for a bit, cool tile pressing against your hot back feeling nice as you indulged, nursing your drink as a means to not feel out of place.
Unfortunately, your peace didn’t last long, some asshole tripping into you, spilling your drink down your shirt, and effectively ruining your night. Still drunk, you wandered to the bathroom that unfortunately had a line. Deciding to go upstairs to continue your search, you found Ben.
“ If you find Rodrick, tell him I’m leaving.” And that was all you hissed out before you slammed the bathroom door, not even caring to answer his questions.
Gripping the counter as you looked into the mirror, you glared back at yourself, bad decisions catching up to you as now all the emotions you were drowning out seemed to come to the surface. Roughly grabbing a wad of toilet paper, you started dabbing it against your shirt.
“ Stupid, stupid, stupid!” You chanted, getting more pissed as each word continued to leave your mouth.
Angry tears dotted your eyes, and that made you feel even worse.
“ I know I shouldn’t have gone to this fucking party oh my god.” You rambled, rubbing your shirt harshly as you started to realize it was going to stain.
Slam
“What the fuck!” The bathroom door swinging open was the last you expected as you yelled out.
“ What's wrong, why are you leaving?” His voice reached you before you realized it was him, and you hated how you couldn’t stop your heart fluttering at his presence.
“ Don’t you have something else to worry about?” You snarled out, alcohol making you much more confrontational than you would be.
“ What? No, why would I-” Rodrick stepped in more, closing the door behind him, and looking down at your soaked shirt.
“ Please I’m surprised you aren’t too busy with Heather right now.” Words spewed from your tongue, and you knew you were going to regret this later with the direction it’s going.
“ No, never, you know I care about you c’mon.” Normally these words coming from him would work, but you were just so over everything, you just couldn’t be bothered. You needed to shout, you needed to yell, you needed to express your pent up frustration, and Rodrick was sure as hell going to hear it.
“ Do you though?” Your question hung in the air, tone biting, and you continued before he got the chance to speak.
“ It’s always Heather with you, Heather this, Heather that, always Heather fucking Hills!” You exclaimed, shoving your hands in the air, wad of tissue dropping into a sad lump on the floor.
“ You care until she’s there, and suddenly you're nowhere to be seen, even though I’ve told you Rodrick.” You were close to him now, finger pressed to his chest as you glared at him, despite your wavering stance.
He fidgeted, looking down at your finger before sighing, clasping the hand pointed against him gently, he used his other hand to run a hand through his hair.
“ It was never Heather.” He muttered out, words slightly slurred as he looked down at your hand in his.
Your mind raced, waiting for the words that could come out of his mouth, trying to stop yourself from foolish hope at what that might entail.
“ I only ‘liked’ her for so long cus you were never into me.” He trailed off, eyes darting around the bathroom as you slowly processed his words.
“ Are you being forreal right now?” You stuttered dumbly, mind not being able to comprehend this wasn’t some stupid drunken delusion and that this was very much real.
A nod was all you needed before you made your next decision, fueled by liquid courage, you couldn't help but tease.
“ God Rodrick, you’re so stupid.” Was all you said before you tugged on the neckline of his shirt, his lips crashing into yours as you got the kiss you’ve longed for god knows how long.
His hands seemed to instinctively find your hips, and you hummed into the kiss, pulling his bottom lip into your mouth, you steadied yourself against him. His grip tightened, and you moved along with him as he placed you onto the bathroom counter.
He was between your legs now, and you hooked your legs around his waist. You gripped his shirt tighter as he bit your lip, pulling him into you as a means to deepen the kiss. He ran his tongue over your bottom lip and you obliged, parting your mouth to feel his tongue against yours.
Arms resting around his shoulders, and hands going to his surprisingly soft hair, you shuddered once you felt his once stationary hands trail up your thighs. He pulled away with uncharacteristic softness, and you could feel his breath fan across your lips as he looked into your eyes. Just as you were about to close the short distance, his head dipped into the crook of your neck, wet kisses left in his wake as your breath grew shaky.
Head spinning not just from the alcohol but also with how hot it was getting in the room. Feeling as though you were burning up under his touch, Rodrick lifted the hem of your shirt, and you helped him get the rest off.
“ Thank god, that thing was fucking soaked.” You sighed in relief, cold air feeling nice against your skin as you unclasped your bra.
“ Yeah I bet that's not the only thing.” You could feel the chuckle against your neck, and you laughed along despite how warm your face grew at how right he probably was.
His short nails managed to drag across your skin just right as you straightened up at the sensation, and you jolted at him pulling you closer to the edge of the counter so you could press against the bulge in his jeans.
His hands stilled as your hips bucked, a muffled groan coming from his throat as his head began to go lower to your chest. Rodrick’s presence was overwhelming, he was licking, sucking, and biting what he could get his mouth on, and occupied what he couldn’t with his surprisingly skilled hands.
Your mind was racing, your head was fuzzy, and you were growing more desperate by the second.
“ Rodrick I swear to god if you don’t get a move on I’m going to explode.” You practically begged, voice having a slight needy whine to it, and you figured you would kill him if he decided to tease you on it after the fact.
“ God calm down, hardly even done anything yet.” He teased, hands drifting down to your inner thigh.
“ That’s exactly what I’m talking about.” You groaned out, biting your lips in order to bite back the embarrassingly loud moan that would’ve left you as his hand grazed you through your underwear.
“ Jeez alright, alright.” Rodrick smirked down at you, maliciously complying as he pulled them to the side gathering your wetness with his fingers all before shoving them inside you.
“ God fuck- Rodrick!” You were grateful for the loud atmosphere of the party, shout lost in the rest of the noise.
You gripped his shoulders, legs trembling from the initial shock. Rodrick didn’t seem to want to give you a moment to breathe, setting a pace that could only be described as fast, and something made to make you loud. You couldn’t stay quiet even if you wanted to, moans spilling from your lips even though you tried to be mindful.
“ I was right by the way.” He teased, looking down at you while you stared back, face growing impossibly warmer at how he seemed to be entirely focused on you and your reactions.
“ Wha-huh?” Was all you could mewl out through the sensation of his fingers inside you.
“ You’re soaked.” He grinned wolfishly, making his pace harder, and you cried out as you clenched around him.
“ And you called me stupid, you can barely even speak right now.” His tone was downright sinful and his words only built up your continually arising arousal.
“ ‘S not fair, you’re not getting fucked right now-” you managed to get out between pants,” ‘S your fault!” You protested weakly, words falling from your lips before you could even process them.
“ My fault?” He scoffed, amused as he didn’t break his unrelenting rhythm.
“ Just like it's my fault for taking so long to realize you liked me?” He said, and you could pick up on the slight softness, like he was asking for confirmation, and you didn’t hesitate to give it to him.
Nodding profusely, you let the words you’ve always thought to say tumble from your mouth,” I’ve liked you for so-fuck-so so long!”
He hummed, smiling down at you as he picked up the pace,” Oh really? How long have you liked me, pretty?”
You could feel heat pool to your abdomen, and your legs tightened around his waist,” ‘M gonna cum fuck.”
“ No, answer first.” He said bluntly, however his fingers didn’t seem to slow.
“ Shit I don’t know.” You blurted, mind frazzled as you couldn’t seem to focus on anything but the overwhelming pleasure.
“ Think for me baby you got it.” Rodrick cooed, his left hand tracing gentle circles into your thigh.
“ Okayyy- ever since-fuck- ever since the begining of this year.” You managed to whine out before your legs began to shake.
“ Wow this year? That’s a long time.” He smiled, at your words, fondness dripping from his tone.
You would’ve smiled back, but his left hand moved from your thigh to your clit, rubbing it much more intensely than where it once was.
“ Such a good girl, cum for me.” He purred knowing just how close you were.
Coming down and swallowing your moans with a kiss that turned frantic as you eagerly reciprocated; you felt your orgasm crash over you in one big wave, dissolving into pleasure as your grip around him tightened.
Pace slowing as he rode you through your orgasm, in your clarity you fumbled for his belt buckle, the metal cold in your grip as you tried to take it off. Not breaking the kiss, Rodrick’s hands came down to help you, his jeans falling to the ground as you both parted to gasp for air.
In one swift movement Rodrick’s hands guided your hips, sinking you down onto his dick. Your simultaneous moans filled the air as Rodrick seemed to still for a second, needing a moment to collect himself. The sudden moving of his hips caused any teasing to die on your tongue as your breath hitched.
“ Fuck you feel so good.” Rodrick babbled, various noises falling past his lips, failing to maintain his composure despite his demeanor earlier.
You couldn’t even bring yourself to answer, too lost in the rhythmic thrusts that had you seeing stars. Rodrick didn’t seem to mind though, filling in for your lack of responses with words of his own.
“ Can’t believe it took me so long to realize you liked me back.” Both of his hands were on your hips now, dragging them down to match his thrusts.
You were lost in the pleasure at this point, already sensitive from your last orgasm, your senses were overwhelmed, and you couldn’t do anything but take what Rodrick was giving you.
“ Glad you finally did.” You cried out, already feeling the buildup for a second climax approaching.
“ Fuck.” You breathed out, Rodrick’s hips beginning to slam into you harder.
Arms going up to drape across his shoulders, you clung to him, needing to ground yourself with everything going on. His pace grew erratic, getting lost in you as he began to approach his rapidly building high. The same could be said for yourself, voice growing in volume as various curses flew from your lips.
Nails digging into his back, you gripped him tighter, you could hear your name slip past his lips as you moaned his. Hips coming to a slow stop, the sound of you both trying to catch your breath filled the room.
“ Still gonna leave?” Rodrick huffed, slipping back into his jeans as he looked at you.
“ Shirts still soaked.” You said simply, and you were absolutely going home after that, you were getting tired.
“ Wanna come back to my place with me?” You asked, hopping off the counter and looking for the wet pile that was your shirt.
“ Hell yeah.”

before I start I love your work you’re literally my favourite writer on tumblr atm :)
(I never do requests so I might be a bit stiff 😭)
I was wondering if you could do something where the reader is Rodricks neighbour and one of his best friends. And it’s like friends to lovers?
Rodrick takes us on drives with his van often and loves spending time with us. And then one day he confesses. (Idk I’m waffling atp)
aww this is so cute i love this idea and tysm!!
a/n: i’m sorry this is so lazy and poorly edited, i’ve just been so swamped with work but i didn’t wanna wait any longer to write this cause it’s such a cute idea.
———
Greg and Rowley were getting tossed around in the back of Rodrick’s van, flying across with every bump in the road. Music blasted through the van and out the open windows as you and Rodrick sat in the front. For a moment you felt bad for the two boys in the back, one of them being your best friend’s younger brother. But you were over the feeling as Rodrick air-drummed along to the song, nearly crashing the car for the millionth time. You’d gotten used to his reckless driving and if anything, you enjoyed it like it was some rollercoaster.
The van slammed to a stop at Rodrick’s house and Greg slammed against the back of your seat, causing you to laugh. You turned to look back at them, unbuckling your seatbelt in the meantime. They both looked horrified, wide-eyed and disheveled clothing and hair, but they didn’t look hurt. No visible signs of bruises or bleeding anyway.
The radio shut off and you hurried out the car and to the back to help Greg and Rowley out. You knew Rodrick wasn’t the biggest fan of either of them but you didn’t mind them and the sinking feeling of guilt started to return as you watched them stumble out the car.
“Guess he shouldn’t have taken out the seats in the back,” you commented, grabbing Greg’s backpack that had been thrown around.
“Ya think?” Greg replied, pissy and sarcastic. Rowley scrambled to his feet, swinging his backpack onto both shoulders.
“Maybe I can convince Rodrick to let me drive next time, alright?” you suggested.
“Only if you’re better than that,” Greg scowled, glaring at Rodrick who was running inside.
“Be nice,” you warned.
“Why?! Rodrick nearly killed us!” Greg defended.
“He’s my best friend like Rowley is yours. Be nice or I won’t do you a favour and ask Rodrick if I could drive.” Greg frowned but kept his mouth shut, dragging Rowley along with him as they ran inside.
You were closing up the back of the van when Rodrick came running back out. You heard his quiet footsteps and quickly turned around before he could try and scare you.
“You know, maybe I should drive next time,” you told him, going to the passenger seat to grab your backpack.
“What? No way,” Rodrick replied without missing a beat. Your backpack hung from one shoulder as you closed the car door.
“Why not?” you questioned.
“My van, my keys,” he said, dangling his keys in the air. “I drive.”
“Yeah, well one day you’re gonna end up killing Greg and Rowley back there,” you added, shooting him a disapproving look.
“So?” he retorted. You pushed his shoulder, rolling your eyes and shaking your head as you hid a smile.
“You’re a douche, you know that?” you laughed, heading towards your house (which was right beside Rodrick’s). He followed after you. He tossed an arm around your shoulder, a gesture he started doing more and more often that you had grown accustomed to.
“Well, chicks dig bad boys,” he chuckled. You rolled your eyes again, pushing him off of you and he laughed harder.
Rodrick stayed over until about 7 that night, leaving when he figured he should go home before his mom had a fit about him missing family dinner. The two of you hung out nearly every night. More often than not, you were at his house, sat in his garage as he played drums or in his room watching scary movies until you were left holding onto him. You often weren’t that scared but watching horror movies at 3am is a different story. The only reason you ever hung out at your house was when Rowley was hanging out with Greg to spare the both of you from being bothered by them.
You and Rodrick had been friends since your family moved to town. The house right beside the Heffley’s was for sale and your father bought it without hesitation. You then met Rodrick at school, around the beginning of 8th grade. The two of you were sat in the back and you made some half-witted comment about how arbitrary and ridiculous the lecture and class was. Rodrick overheard and the two of you spent the next few weeks insulting and cracking jokes about the teacher in that class. Your desks would always scoot closer together and you had to cover your mouth to stifle the laughter and hide the smiles. By the end of 8th grade, you had spent a majority of the year sitting at his lunch table and hanging out after school. You used to go to the park near your house and torment the other kids there; hiding behind play structures and jumping out to scare them. It became more after that, especially when high school hit. You used to spend an afternoon together once in a while but he started to become an everyday thing, taking drives together when he somehow managed to get his license. Fortunately for the two of you, Rodrick’s mom adored you. Which may be why his parents never had a problem with you spending endless nights there.
But, despite what your parents thought at first and what Greg and Rowley think, you never had any romantic feelings for him. He didn’t feel like a brother to you either considering the way you saw Rodrick and Greg relentlessly bicker and fight. You weren’t like that with Rodrick. Sure, you teased one another but never fought in the way you’d watched Greg and Rodrick fight. You loved Rodrick, not in a brotherly way or in a “i’m in love with you, and i know that love is just a shout into the void, and that oblivion is inevitable” way. Or at least you thought.
Saturday evening rolled around and you sat up against the headboard of your bed, flipping through some old book you’d had for years. Your eyes flicked over the pages, hardly taking in and reading a single word. Your headphones blared music into your ears and you couldn’t help but tap the spine of the book along to the rhythm until you lost all interest in the book’s entirety. You tossed it aside, staring blankly at the wall in front of you. Normally, it would’ve been a day where you and Rodrick hung out but he had never picked up the phone and called you, or came pounding on your door, or even had failed attempts at climbing through your window (considering your parents were a little less fond of Rodrick, calling him a bad influence and whatnot). His absence left your day empty and it felt tedious with how slow the hours seemed to pass.
Around 9 o’clock, when you planned on having an early night due to your lack of things to do, you could hear honking from the front of your house. Then a shout of your name echoed through the house. You pulled on a jacket, covering up your bare arms, and practically flew down the stairs. Your mom stood at the front door, arms folded over her chest with a scowl.
“That boy, Rodrick, is honking outside. I just put your sister to bed and now she’s up, crying,” your mom frowned. You pursed your lips briefly and glanced at the door.
“Sorry, mom,” you mumbled, sliding into a pair of shoes before hurrying out the door. As you closed it behind you, you saw Rodrick hanging out the window of his van, one hand over the horn while the other held him up. His hand seemed to slip and he honked again. You rushed to the car and hit him as he flopped down into his seat. “Quit honking, or my mom’s gonna kill you,” you urged. Despite the darkness of the night, the pale moonlight lit up his face just enough to see the red of his cheeks as he looked away from you.
“Get in then, or I’ll honk again,” Rodrick joked and you rolled your eyes, smiling, before willingly getting in the passenger side.
“I should’ve asked, where exactly are we going?” you asked, turning your attention to him as he began driving. He was driving slower and much more carefully than he ever had before. His shoulders rose and fell in a shrug and he failed to look in your direction.
“I just wanted to take a drive,” he replied simply, sounding a little sheepish, which wasn’t like him. Taking drives with him wasn’t an unusual thing per se, but the way he seemed quieter and damn near stunned around you hadn’t fit his typical demeanor. Quite frankly, it worried you.
“Don’t you have a curfew?” you asked. He tapped the wheel, looking nearly everywhere but you. He nodded cautiously.
“Yeah, 9 o’clock,” he muttered. You laughed a bit, hoping it would lighten the mood or ease the tension that was weighing a ton.
“Well then, Rodrick, I-” but he interrupted.
“Have you ever liked anyone?” he blurted out. Your brow furrowed, stunned by the randomness of the question. His knuckles looked white from the way he gripped the steering wheel and you feared he would break it off.
“What’s that got to do with anything?” you questioned, avoiding answering. He drew in a sharp breath.
“I was just wondering,” he replied. You bit the inside of your cheek, hesitating on your response.
“Why, you like someone?” you asked, still delaying your answer as you tried to conjure up something to say. What did it matter to him? Better yet, why had the question made you so nervous? You and Rodrick told each other nearly everything. Rodrick ran to you asking for advice when he had a crush on Heather Hills. Why was it so different now?
“I don’t know,” he whispered. “I shouldn’t,” he added, his voice going even quieter.
“What do you mean you shouldn’t?” you inquired. His jaw clenched and he brought the car to a stop. You looked around outside for a moment. There were no houses. There was nothing at all really. Just empty land.
It was silent except for the distant chirp of crickets. It took Rodrick a moment before he finally spoke. “Y/n, I-” he stopped, finally looking at you. All words escaped his mind and the rest of his sentence trailed off. He averted his gaze as quickly as he had found it and cleared his throat. He shook his head and shut his eyes, pinching the bridge of his nose. He buried his face in his hands and your worry reached its peak. He seemed outright miserable.
“I like you,” he spoke, voice muffled by his hands. Your jaw went slack and eyes went wide.
“What?” you asked quietly, not because you hadn’t heard but because you couldn’t fathom the fact he liked you of all people.
He lifted his face out of his hands and repeated himself, louder this time. “I like you.” Your gaze softened.
“Rodrick,” you began softly. His hands fell to his lap, then raised again and gripped the wheel, running his hands over it. Your mind was going nearly a million miles an hour, trying to sort out his and your own feelings. Your heart was practically beating out of your chest and you could hear the thump of it through the silence. You were hoping he would say something as you tried to carefully pick out your words but your head was just a jumble of all the things you wished you could say.
“Yeah, no, I get it,” he said, sounding defeated. You shook your head and your mouth opened but no words seemed to pour out. When there was a lack of your response, Rodrick jumped in. “I’ll take you home. Forget this ever happened, alright?” He finally met your gaze again and you could see the way his eyes were glassy and on the verge of bloodshot. You felt your eyes start to pool up. He turned his attention to the road and started up the car again.
“Rod, I, um, I didn’t mean for you to take it like that.” You desperately racked your brain for any of the right words that seemed to be forming on the tip of your tongue but you couldn’t deliver it properly. “To be honest, I don’t know how I feel.” You let out a light laugh, keeping yourself from the tears about to flow down your cheeks.
You were so enveloped in your mess of thoughts, you hadn’t noticed when Rodrick’s van pulled to a stop right in front of your house. You swallowed the lump in your throat and a hot tear rolled down your cheek. You’d come to the realization you liked him too, and maybe that you always had. It had never made sense to you though; that you felt that way for him. It didn’t made sense now either but it was clear that you did. You both got out of his van and you rushed over to his side. He was heading up his driveway and you stepped in front of him. He stopped, looked down at you through a few strands of his dark shaggy hair that covered his glassy doe brown eyes and you felt your heart stop for a moment. You cupped his face, and moved up to press your lips to his. There was a moment of bliss and ignorance where it felt like the world fell away. But you felt him tense underneath your touch and you slipped away. You let your hand fall away and felt the sinking feeling of regret in your stomach as you started walking away. Maybe if you had seen the dorky bright smile illuminate Rodrick’s face as you walked away, you might’ve felt better but you scurried home and spent the rest of the night thinking you made the worst decision of your life; ruining your friendship with Rodrick in a way that couldn’t be recovered.
The doorbell echoed through the house, startling you awake. You groaned, rubbing your eyes and turning on your side to look at your alarm clock. It was barely 9 am. You yawned and stretched as you sat up, finally getting up as the doorbell rang impatiently again. Your eyes had dark rings and were still red from your night of crying over Rodrick (shamefully and feeling ridiculously stupid for caring so much) but you hardly thought about how you looked as you stumbled to the door. The doorbell rang a 3rd time and you were sure your parents would be mad at you for not answering the door sooner. You swung the door open carelessly, not bothering to look through the peephole first. Despite your tiredness blinding your senses, the strong scent of flowers filled your nose when the door opened and when your eyes focused, you noticed the bright arrangement of colors before you, all blooming and full of life, which you weren’t sure you’d be able to maintain for long.
“My mom picked them, I didn’t know what you like,” the voice mumbled. Your attention flicked up from the flowers to the one holding them. You suddenly wished you looked better; your hair tangled from bedhead, bloodshot eyes, and some old tank top and pajama pants you had for years. Your eyes found Rodrick’s deep brown eyes and messy hair with a crooked smile on his lips. You nearly swooned, gaze softening as you could feel your heart melt.
“Rodrick,” you started quietly. He held the flowers out to you and you took them, a grin spreading across your face. You were speechless. You never took him as the type to give flowers, especially after one impulsive kiss. Not to your knowledge, Rodrick had run to his mom that night and begged her to help him. He didn’t trust most of her advice but took her ideas and turned them into The Rodrick Way. Except for the flowers. That was all his mom’s idea.
“Wanna take a drive?”

after getting chewed out by his mom again, you’d see him visibly fuming when you slip into his room. instead of blasting loud music or going out of his way to annoy his little brother,—his usual go-to moves—rodrick depends on his cool girlfriend on blowing off steam.
hands resting on your hips as he watches through half-lidded eyes, drunkly admiring the way your tits jiggled in sync with each downward thrust of your pelvis, his plump lips parted in a pretty “o” shape as you repeatedly impaling yourself onto his cock. you lean down, pressing your mouth against his cheek, the sheen of sweat coating his skin salty beneath your lips as you murmur, “hey, you’re catching flies, loser boy.” rodrick blinks, snapping out of his reverie. eyes narrowing to slits as your words register to his fucked-out brain. predictably, he gives you that shit-eating smirk. his hands grip your waist a little tighter, and he tilts his head, puckering his lips cutely.
before you can make further fun of him, he leans in, closing the gap, lips pressing clumsily but eagerly against yours.

Bandmates!
(Rodrick x GN! Reader)
Wordcount: 3,301
Summary- You and Rodrick are as thick as thieves, an effect that comes with practically being attached at the hip since you were kids. But lately, you can’t help but act as anyone but yourself around him, maybe it had something to do with your newly developed crush on him. The once small issue became so uncontrollable that it’s been affecting your performance in the band, how were you gonna fucking explain that.
It started off small, a few thoughts that you let float around your mind for too long morphed into stolen glances that were never returned. Those glances caused your heart to stutter in a way that you’d swore it stopped beating. You noticed that it then managed to manifest itself during the little things, like when he’d laugh, or when his hand would brush against yours, or when you’d swear that you’d feel his gaze on the back of your neck.
And now, you found yourself on one of the many sleepless nights that had now become normalcy ever since the plague that was Rodrick Heffley wreaked havoc throughout your mind. You were restless, mind racing over one simple interaction that had caused your brain to malfunction and your heart to beat irregularly. It had been something so stupid, but it was something so him that it had literally made you restless.
You looked at the inanimate object that you had been clutching in your hand, it was a small keychain with something you had mentioned off-handedly a year ago. But today, Rodrick had gifted it to you, rambling about how he saw it in the store and how he knew you liked it. It was a trait of his, overexplaining, a trait that you couldn’t help but relish in, always letting yourself get swept up in his voice as he rushed to explain his actions.
He said that he had thought of you when he got it, and that caused you to ponder, does he think of you like you think of him? Are you the source of restless nights that have him secretly yearn for your presence in a way he hasn’t before? Do you also haunt his thoughts like a ghost of the night in search of something they know they can never have?
You groaned as you rolled over, tossing and turning as you picked at your brain. Trying to get to the bottom of this foreign fondness that started to blossom. Sure you liked Rodrick, and he did too, it’s an effect that comes with growing up together. But this, this felt different, it felt like your biggest secret, something so private, something so scandalous, that you couldn’t tell anyone. Not Ben, not Chris, and absolutely, under no circumstances, could Rodrick find out. That’s the thing that became lost to you, why did it feel like you had something to hide. There was no reason to hide your fondness for a friend, unless.
You shot up, sitting upright as your blanket flew from your body, it was as if you had managed to dig up secrets you had forced yourself to bury years ago, secrets that had blossomed its way through the soil you had buried them with. The flowers finally maturing as you did, and you were now mature enough to realize,
You liked Rodrick Heffley. Slamming the keychain down on your nightstand, you suddenly felt much too warm in your room. You looked over at the clock and the bright numbers glared back at you, it was four in the morning, and you had to get ready for school in a few hours. Debating on whether or not to get some sleep, your heart thumping in your ears told you that it wouldn’t be so easy. Flopping back down onto your bed, you grabbed at your phone, deciding to do whatever to pass the time before your day started.
Your eyes creaked open much like the door to your room as exhaustion made itself apparent. What also became glaringly obvious was that you had woken up late, your mother’s imposing figure causing you to shoot up out of your bed once more. You rummaged throughout your room, mom having left once she saw you spring into action.
Honk Honk
Just as you had managed to slip on the last of your outfit, Rodrick had shown up as he normally did. Giving yourself a once over in your room mirror, you grabbed your bag and rushed down the stairs, not wanting to keep him waiting for too long although he normally did.
Your exhaustion seemed to be replaced with a rush of excitement as you neared the van, messy brown hair in your sights as you threw open the passenger door. “ Morning Hot Rod. Mornin’ Greg.” You called out, looking towards Greg in the back of the van before turning back over to Rodrick.
“ Sup, you’re here early.” Rodrick teased, his signature smirk that you used to not bat an eye at sent a flurry of butterflies throughout your stomach. “Maybe I’m just on time for once Heffley.” You bit back, tone matching his as you sent him a grin. “Plus, woke up late so I had to rush.” You shrugged, playing with the hems of your outfit.
For some reason, you felt so awkward, like your words were caught on the tip of your tongue as you scrambled for anything to keep the conversation going just to talk to him.
Rodrick hummed, tires squealing on the asphalt as he peeled off, tapping the drum line to the song blaring on the radio. Getting lost in the rhythmic tap tap tap on the steering wheel, you zoned in on the scenery ahead. A particularly rough turn had you jolting over to the left, and you would’ve bumped into Rodrick had it not been for your seatbelt. “ You know, one day we’re going to go to the gas station parking lot and drive until you can do it without almost killing me.” You scolded lightly, amused huff escaping past your lips as you looked over. And god what a mistake that was.
The morning light has cascaded across him perfectly, casting shadows in all the right places to define his features more than they already were. He glanced at you out of the corner of his eye, laughing as he shook his head, and the glimpse at his usual dark brown eyes robbed you of any more smart replies as they were now a beautiful hazel in the light. You knew, right then, in that moment, as you stared at the picture perfect man in front of you, that you were beyond screwed. Especially once his lips parted, and you couldn’t help but stare at them as he focused on the road. They were surprisingly full, and the prettiest shade of pink, the words that escaped them almost lost to you. “ Big words for someone who can’t drive.”
Your mouth floundered for a moment, before rolling your eyes with a scoff as you reluctantly tore your eyes away.
“ Whatever, I bet if I took the wheel from you right now I’d be loads better.”
“Oh really?”
His tone was daring, taunting, and you recognized the familiar mischief in his eyes when you looked back over.
“ Go ahead, do it. Watch, no hands!”
You watched as he lifted his hands up off the wheel, a horrified shriek from Greg in the back matching your look of horror.
“ Rodrick!”
You exclaimed, hands going over to the wheel, but before you could get to it, his hands went back into their respective positions. Unable to slow your movements, your hands rested atop his for a swift moment.
“ Chillaxxx I was just playing, don’t worry I’m not that stupid.”
He chuckled as you glared up at him, and you kept up the expression for a moment, before laughter couldn’t help but bubble its way to the surface. You retracted your hands, internally panicking over the debate that you left them there for too long, but also over the fact that the contact had sent you into a little frenzy.
Yet another sharp turn had you bumping into the passenger side door, panic fleeting as Westmore middle came into view. “ Alright Greg, out.” Rodrick glanced at Greg through the rear view mirror, said boy already hurling open the van door as soon as you guys rolled to a stop. Giving him a little nod as a means to say bye, the harsh slam sending you guys back into motion once more. Rodrick peeled off, and once again you felt the pit of awkwardness settle into your stomach as you struggled to find something to say. “So-” “Uhm-” You huffed in amusement as you both had managed to speak at the same time. Watching as a smile curled across Rodrick’s face, a small chuckle escaping from between his lips, and you had to fight the urge to look at them. “ What’s up Rod?” You questioned, wondering what he could possibly have to say when you didn’t even know what to say yourself. “ So for practice later right…” He continued to ramble on, and conversation seemed to begin to flow naturally as you two bounced back and forth.
Eventually, it was time for said practice, Chris, Ben, Rodrick, and of course you bustled out the school doors amongst the crowd of students. Sitting in your assigned passenger seat, Rodrick’s house slowly crept into view, and the fear of keeping yourself together during practice became very apparent once you got into the garage.
Zipping open your guitar case suddenly made your hands shake, and you cursed yourself for getting nervous despite having played in front of Rodrick countless times before. A mechanical buzz filled the air once you flicked the amp on, and you caught up with everyone else while they got set up. “ Soooo how was school?” Ben questioned in a sing-song tone. You shrugged, “Same as always, but Ms.Woods would literally not shut up.” You groaned, recalling the history class that always seemed to drag on no matter how many minutes were left in the period.
Ben grimaced,” Ugh, I had her junior year, and let me tell you, I did not go to one class.” “Tell me about it.” You lamented, ready to ask another question but the crash of the drums caught your attention. Your head whipped around to face Rodrick, and your hands instinctively found their places. It was one of your songs, a song that was quite literally muscle memory to you at this point. Keeping track of the rhythm, your head went up to do a quick look around the room. Honestly, you really should’ve known not to by now, your eyes becoming glued to what they were normally pulled towards. Silently watching as he played, you couldn’t help but get lost in your admiration, hand stalling as you messed up the chord and instantly grew flustered. “Fuck!” You exclaimed, looking down at your own hands as if they had betrayed you. “My bad guys.” You stated, sheepishly looking around at the guys despite knowing they definitely didn’t mind. Unfortunately, this wasn’t a one time occurrence, it was more of a, every band practice when Rodrick had managed to distract you despite not doing anything to be distracted by thing. Like that one time on Tuesday when you took too long to play in a song you were supposed to start. All because Chris had made a joke right before and Rodrick had begun to laugh. Or, on Friday when you dropped your pick because Rodrick just so happened to send you a smile whilst playing.
Now today, today was going the same as always. Music thrummed throughout the garage, as you played alongside the boys. Surprisingly, everything was going smoothly, and you grew relieved you were becoming accustomed to your little crush. Unfortunately, your relief didn’t last long.
Fingers coming to a halt as it was Rodrick’s solo, you instinctively turned around to watch. Again, big mistake, growing too distracted by the sights in front of you, the part you were supposed to start playing on approached much more rapidly than usual. Caught off guard, your hands flew to their respective frets.
The unpleasant twang that resonated from your instrument rang throughout the room, and a frustrated groan tore its way from your throat. Removing the strap from your shoulder, you set your guitar down, and threw yourself onto the couch. Hands running across your face and up to your hair, causing you not to see Rodrick shooing away Chris and Ben.
The sudden sensation of someone lifting your legs and setting them back on their lap had you jolting up. You were met with Rodrick’s piercing stare a brush away from your face. “ Rodrick?” You questioned, clearing your throat as your voice had managed to come out strained, and you hoped he didn’t notice. “ What's wrong?” His question garnered an instant reaction from you, face instantly heating as a chorus of ‘oh shit’ and ‘oh fuck’ rang throughout your mind.
“ What do you-” You were cut off before you could even act dumb. “ C’mon, seriously, don’t give me that.”
It was rare to see Rodrick so serious, his gaze intense as he maintained eye contact, voice low and thick with concern as he questioned. “ I… I’m just tired is all,” you shifted, bringing your knees up to your chest as you put some distance between the two of you,” I haven’t been sleeping too much lately, it's nothing, don't worry about it.” The answer clearly didn’t satisfy Rodrick, his hands palmed at the legs of his jeans, his eyes darting over to the side of the room as he sucked his teeth, “ It really seems like somethings bothering you though, you’ve been so distracted lately, the guys are also starting to worry.” You chose not to answer, eyes looking down at your arms holding your legs, silently mortified over the fact you were that obvious with your little crush. “ Really Rodrick, it’s nothing I swear.” You tried to assure, and realistically, it was nothing, it wasn’t as serious as Rodrick had thought, but you couldn’t help but find this sweet.
“ You know you can tell me anything right?”
Rodrick grumbled, crossing his legs, and resting his chin on his palm. Your mouth parted, almost blurting out something stupid, but just as quickly as it opened, it shut. Your friend, who can be painfully observant when he wants to be, gave you a look.
“ What?”
Rodrick pried, clearly picking up on the fact you almost said something.
“ What do you mean?”
You asked sheepishly, playing dumb even though you know he had caught you.
“ Don’t act like you weren’t gonna say something.” Rodrick pressed, albeit teasingly, your anxiety couldn’t help but rise.
“ It’s just…just that… fuck.” You stumbled and cursed, deciding to commit to it didn’t make the words come out any easier.
Avoiding Rodrick’s eyes as you looked at the little string lights that danced around the room, you fiddled with your fingers. The room dropped to a terse silence as you tried to get the words out, and Rodrick sat, hanging onto everything that came out of your mouth.
“ Ilikeyou!”
You blurted it out in one go, words jumbled as you abruptly shot up from the couch, practically running to the door, not even waiting for a response as embarrassment burned your cheeks.
“ Hey!” Rodrick called after you, but it was too late.
Slam
The little garage door clattered behind you, and you were already halfway down the driveway when you heard it open again. The sound of Rodrick rushing after you made you speed up instinctively, but the grip on your wrist had you spinning around, crashing into him.
You stilled, brain stalling and preparing for the worst as you took a small step back in order to look at him. The hand on your wrist was warm, and when you finally mustered up the courage to turn your gaze elsewhere, you were met with a flushed face, and parted lips.
“ Did I hear you right?” Rodrick blurted out, and your aversion to his gaze confirmed it before your nod did. With that, a small teasing smile curled its way onto his face, and it did nothing to quell the butterflies in your stomach. “ Can you say it again, just to confirm?” All stress left your body at his teasing, with an eye roll, and a scoff, you shoved him the best you could. “ If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you liked me, Rodrick.” You joked, elated at the fact he seemed to like you too, despite having not confirmed it, his reaction was enough. “ I do.” Those two simple words made you halt, and your face grew impossibly warmer, but this time not due to embarrassment. “ Like you! I mean.” Rodrick stuttered, confession seemingly shocking himself and much like you, his face was now a deep scarlet rather than the light pink it was previous. “ So that's why you were acting so weird!” Ben’s voice exclaimed from the van. It was now made very much apparent that Chris and Ben were indeed watching the whole spectacle, and you shot him a joking glare as you walked towards the two. “ Awww, all for little ole’ me?” Rodrick piped up from beside you, and you groaned. “ You know what, I take it back! I lied!” You spoke through your laughter, turning on your heel as you pretended to walk away. “No, wait! Come backkkkk!” Rodrick whined, hands going up to your shoulders in order to pull you back into him. You felt his chest on your back, and he rested his head on your shoulder. Your hands went up to his hair, an action commonly shared between you two as friends, but it was different now, and that thought caused a grin to split across your face. Resting your face on his head, you could hear the mocking coos from Chris and Ben. “ Totally called it by the way. Can’t believe you said I was delusional Rodrick.” Ben tsked, scolding Rodrick playfully as you two turned to face them. “ Holdon, you guys knew? How long have you liked me?” You exclaimed, breaking the contact in order to spin around and look Rodrick in the eyes. Rodrick flushed once more, and it was his turn to avert his gaze as he mustered up nothing better than a shrug.
“ I don’t know, I kinda just looked at you one day, then bang! I realized I had feelings for my best friend.”
He explained awkwardly, looking down to his shoes as you looked at him in amusement.
“ Best friend? Damn, friend zoned, that's rough.” You teased, knowing fully what he meant.
“What? Wait, no! You know that’s not what I meant.” Rodrick rushed, the words spewing from his mouth as he rambled.
A smile broke across your face at the sight of him stuttering, and stumbling over his words. It was endearing really, the way his eyes were darting every which way, and how his hands rested firmly on your shoulders as he tried to make his point clear.
“Pfft- Rodrick! I’m just joking, it’s fine.” You shushed him, planting your hands on the side of his face as you pulled him closer, pressing a quick kiss on his lips, and stealing his words. The teasing ‘ews’ and gagging caused you to pull back, and look back over to the van.
“Thank god.” Chris dramatically exclaimed.
“ Now that that's over, can we go to seven-eleven?” Ben wondered, the slight lick of his lips allowing you to inform he was hungry, and probably high.
“ Yeah, c’mon Hot Rod, let’s go.” You spoke as you walked over to the passenger side of the door, getting into the van just as Rodrick did.
The sputtering from the van as it started up told you to put your seatbelt on, and with a quick start, you guys were off.
