Mortimer being a bad liar but everyone who knows the guy on a surface level assumes it’s just Normal Mortimer Behavior tm.

Alex accidentally runs into him, and while Mortimer knows Alex is on the run for something, he doesn’t know what. But he trusts Alex far more than Lankmann. How bad could it actually be?

He turns around and the fucking Smiling Snatcher is staring at him through his window.

The cops show up at his house, assuming Alex might have told him something. Mortimer, who has been allowed to process all of this for a grand total of two minutes, shoves Alex in a closet and deals with the police to the best of his ability.

“Nope, no one’s come by today :) nothing out of the ordinary here! :) EVERYTHING IS SO NORMAL. :)”

And they just believe him and leave.

Okay new headcanon: Veldigun can sense other Veldigun or when someone is affected by them.

I had this idea purely because of @arkaix 's posts about Alex and Mortimer turning into Veldis (ough brainror) I was thinking about how they could find out the other is turning

Basically Mortimer at some point shows so many signs he just stops letting anyone into the studio and Alex worries. After some time Alex realizes what's going on with them and after a solid session of panicking and overthinking they come to the conclusion that Mort probably is going through the same shit. They discuss it with Clyde and also notice a strange feeling when they're around him and Clyde goes "oh yeah we can sense other Veldigun lol". Alex immediately goes to investigate and, wouldn't you know it, they sense the same strange feeling when at the door of Mortimer's studio. After a bit of coaxing Mort comes out of his studio and it's a happily ever after, well as happy as it can be when you're turning into a monster-

Soo-

I came up with a new ending for the sitcom au-

Im calling it the forgotten ending- basically alex's conversion either 1. just doesn't happen or 2. was slow to the point where neither them or clyde were aware of it when the crowbaring lankmann happens-

but- mortimer's conversion happens at a normal-ish speed still- so clyde and winfrey focus on mortimer- and starts seeing alex- less and less- until alex hasn't seen any of them in who knows how long-

they all- manage to forget about alex- who depending on if they just- weren't converting or it was very slow- either can move on and maybe move out of eastridge- or learn what happens when you become a veldigun with no other veldiguns around to stabilize the process-

The light was too loud.

He sat, hunched over his desk, gritting his teeth as the electrical hum of the light above him buzzed like a swarm of insects. Another brushstroke as he inks the frame he was working on. He knew he’d probably be fired if he was caught working on Candy Mouse during working hours, but he needed a break from animating the same things over and over and over and over again.

The silence covered him like a weighted blanket as he melted into his chair. He didn’t know if it was real this time or just an exaggeration. The ink stains on his arms seemed to absorb the sepia-tone light like a black hole.

The ink lined his arms in stripe-like patches, just like Alex. He prayed to god Alex wasn’t going through the same thing that he was. Christ was he dripping again?

He turned to grab an eraser, only to knock the inkwell over the frame, drowning his work in pinkish-red. Mortimer rolled his eyes. A drop of ink fell onto where his drawing’s face used to be. He was dripping again. He got up to grab a paper towel, ripping off the roll with a hint of malice that his work was ruined.

He turned back to his desk, but something was wrong. The ink had covered the paper in a perfect rectangle. He looked down at his ruined drawing in confusion,

And all of a sudden, it was looking back.

A yellow eye stared back at the animator, causing his heart to leap into his throat. He screamed and started to stumble back, but something grabbed him. A stripped arm had emerged from the drawing, using him to pull the rest of it out.

And he looked up in horror to see something very familiar emerging.

Alex reached into their pocket and pulled out their burner phone. They knew who was calling, only Mortimer had this phone number. He was the one of the few people they trusted after being forced onto the run, and Clyde and Simon didn’t have phones.

They picked up the phone, and were met with a very panicked Mortimer.

“Hey uh, Alex. I have a question?” Mortimer asked in a shaky voice. Alex leaned against the side of the barn “Yeah sure, what’s up?” They responded. Clyde emerged from the corner it was lurking to tune into the phone call.

“How are veldigun made?” Mortimer asked

“Well when two velidgun love eachother very much-“

“Alex please this is serious!” Alex shared a puzzled look at Clyde. Mortimer usually didn’t raise his voice unless it was something important. “I honestly don’t know, why are you aski-“

“Why do you need to know human?” Clyde had ripped the phone out of Alex’s hand, but Alex was to confused to care.
