luffy gets a girlfriend
He is blissfully unaware of this fact, however. He meets Torao at work, he's a firefighter and she's a doctor. She stitched up a cut on his arm and he gets hungry, spontaneously invites her to eat and she accepts, probably hungry too (or totally thinking that the cute guy with the stupid smile is asking her out).
They go out several times after that, usually with Luffy showing up at the hospital randomly, either injured or bringing in a patient, or simply to bother Torao because he was bored.
Luffy gets a new (girl) friend.
They're weird friends, though, because one day Torao just leaned in and kissed him. On the lips! And he liked it for some reason, so they kissed countless more times.
And sometimes things get too hot when they kiss and one thing leads to another and- well, they had sex. Several times. Which is weird, because Luffy definitely has no desire to kiss, much less have sex, with his other friends. But it works, so he just classifies them as weird friends.
He's pretty sure they're NOT lovers, because neither he nor Torao made fancy proposals, with roses, candles, fancy dinner and fancy rings, like Sanji and most TV shows tell, so, definitely weird friends.
And its okay, he likes being weird friends with Torao :D
(They're totally dating and no one believes Luffy when he says they're just friends. Because he shares his meat with Law, he actually, like, listens to her opinion instead of just doing what he wants, he takes her side in arguments no matter how obviously wrong she is, he fights with Ace, physically, when his brother says Law should get out of Luffy's life. They are totally dating, Luffy has a girlfriend, it doesn't matter that he doesn't know it.)
((law is just happy to be here, even if her boyfriend is a little slow))

I fucking love the wheel of time show everyone should watch it. Couldn’t understand why so many people were giving it negative reviews and then I came to the realization that it was made specifically for the weird gays on tumblr that actually appreciate interesting storytelling. it was made for the people who love awful women, unconventional relationships, negative character development, toxicity, polyamory, qprs, unhealthy devotion, etc etc

I know that in fairy tail canon every guild member lives alone regardless of age, but since I hate the idea of children living alone when perfectly capable adults could take them in, I'm picking and choosing where fairy tail members live as I see fit.
Carla and Wendy live with Erza now because I say so.

Thinking about Marie Ladon (under cut for major spoilers through Lord Hornblower)
Contemplating Marie as proxy for what couldn't be with Bush/Hornblower trying to understand his own emotions towards Bush. It's unclear to me what parts of Marie are real and what parts are not; the entire sequence at Graçay is dreamlike to begin with, and the second time Hornblower visits, in Lord Hornblower, it feels equally so. Marie is also a deeply idealized character who seems to understand Hornblower's every need and meet his every want; but we know not to trust the internal monologue at all, and when Marie does actually break through it in a few rare moments, she does seem to be a very different sort of character - the same is also true of Barbara, but Forester is a bit more obvious about it. The thing about Marie is that not only does she only appear in these out-of-the-world, in-between spaces in the narrative, often in a very overly-perfect way, but she also appears at points where Bush and Hornblower's relationship has taken significant turns and Forester only partially elaborates on it. In particular, Bush and Hornblower become very close on the way to Graçay, and appear to have grown even closer upon leaving it (and there are distinctly romantic-adjacent comments on both sides of this sojourn), while on Hornblower's second trip to France, he has lost Bush and clearly been deeply affected by the loss - in fact, it causes a rift between him and Barbara which he deepens by seeking out Marie. There are parallels there in death as well, with both characters dying in the same book - Hornblower lives out death first with Bush at a distance, then again up close with Marie. They move in odd tandem with each other, and while Marie often appears out of nowhere and takes center-stage, Bush always looms large in the background with a longer, more emotionally-wrought storyline that can never quite come to fruition.
I wonder, then, if there is something to be said for Marie as a sort of narrative device for Hornblower's relationship with Bush. She's not that relationship directly, but instead almost a way of processing it - processing the raw desire in Flying Colours, or processing death and grief and a lost illicit relationship which might be far happier than any legally-sanctioned one. She stands in for what Hornblower can't say, and she lets him process and fail to process his ghosts. I'm not quite sure where to go from there, but I think that it's interesting how she serves to act out the things which Hornblower otherwise doesn't dare to say; in Marie there are the echoes of what Hornblower and Bush are, or could be.

You would think I would be picky with ships involving my husband but you could even ship Fyodor with *checks notes* Yosano and I would still be intrigued as hell.

we talk a lot about how in s15 the characters becoming aware of chuck's writing of them impacts their views of love (destiel's "you asked what about all this is real, we are" and saileen's "i don't know what's real anymore; i know that was real") but we don't talk enough about how this affects the women specifically. maybe because there aren't really any women left at this point. but there is eileen and chuck toys with her SPECIFICALLY saying he built her to be sam's love interest. donna appears in 15x18 entirely to supply sam with help on "whatever he needs" and jody appears similarly. and imagine if mary winchester had lived long enough to realise that everything she had ever done was scripted purely to drive the motivations of sam and dean. because that's all the women ever are in this show and can you imagine the absolutely loss of selfhood that comes with that??? who are you outside of your usefulness to the main man. what can you do other than die for the cause. it's such an insanely damaging message for the women of spn specifically and can you imagine them sitting together going fuck!! who Are we we are literally women being written by some dude!!! have any conversations we have ever had together pass the bechtel test?? is that a fair way to measure ourselves??? and so then. then what is the way for them to heal from that? it's all the women sitting together and talking about themselves and solely themselves and their own dreams and desires and motivations and in that moment chuck literally can't see them because they're not doing anything Important Related To The Winchesters so they are FREE for one conversation. they break free of the narrative they are entirely beautifully themselves it is act 4 scene 3 of othello where in the privacy of the desdemona's bedchambers with no men present desdemona and emilia reveal themselves to be far more intelligent and thoughtful and powerful than the simple wives the men reduce them to. it is their relationship which single handedly defeats iago's tragic ploy - because be doesn't see it coming!!! he doesn't see women's love as enough to bring down his plan!!!!! and so when eileen and donna and jody and yes mary storm chuck and take their narrative all back on their own terms because he never for an instant saw them coming. IT IS EVERYTHING

the thing is, my awful little gremlin urge to lock Eric Kripke & Bryan Fuller in a room together and not let them out until they've drafted a full season of horror tv centered around intricate rituals between allegedly straight men? it is fundamentally motivated by the imp of the perverse. it's a desire to bring abominations into being.
and yet, somehow, despite the two impulses resonating on the same frequencies, my desire to rent a scenic isolated cabin for a month and invite Emily Nussbaum & Sheila O'Malley out there for a tandem binge-watch of six seasons each of The Americans and Supernatural, so they can exchange the most cosmic-brain takes on the tangled interplay of family, gaze, trauma, & erotic performance the astral plane has ever seen....... now THAT i want out of pure love for the world. whatever the FUCK thousands upon thousands of words of erudite hornyposting might result from that team-up, i want to bequeath the results unto humanity.
