It took him a long time (and a mental breakdown) to start expressing himself how he wanted to. If he meets someone that is expressive be it verbally or physically, he will end up circling around them more often than others.

Hand in hand with that, if the person is not easily intimidated and has the courage to talk him out of his mean comments, he might as well ask to be friends with them. As much as he denies it, he enjoys not scaring someone by being himself from time to time.

Jane Everlasting - housekeeping skills and good music taste

Jane is not the easiest person to get along with. However, if you know how to work a stove, and knows that x product is better at cleaning windows than y, she finds than entertaining. She misses Mary so much, and having someone that reminds her of Mary, it warms her on the inside.

This is more of her being a bit of a nitpick, but she despises having to deal with screamo or those techno songs. She deals with it too much from the others, so having the chance to listen to classic romantic ballads, or some soft Jazz while reading a book, by her fave person's side, and not having a complaint at all? That's a dream. One that seems so far away to her reality, being near so many emos

Nina the Killer - foot on earth and alternative fashion

If you stayed even 5 minutes with Nina, you would understand why she appreciates someone hard on reality. Nina is easily enthusiastic and also impulsive as fuck. So having someone to keep her from breaking the whole house down, or to make sure she doesn't throw someone out of the second floor window, it really helps her out in the end, and she knows it.

Nina, although she is slowly getting better at keeping this down, is still a bit obsessed with Jeff, so alternative styles like emo and her beloved Scene style, it makes her feel like she is right up her alley. She would pick matching fits for you two, and also make a whole blog just for pictures of you two with very 2000s core stuff. Plus: hot topic dates.

Homicidal Liu - respectfulness and good cooking skills

Liu has gone through a lot of traumatic events, all his life. Some he holds the memories, after alter fusion, and others... Not so much. But what he does know is that disrespect towards his person, and what he has gone through, is something he doesn't want to go through never again. So being respectful, in the sense of not narrowing him to DID guy, or to murderer, it makes him genuinely happy.

Liu misses his family, even though it wasn't the best family. It's been 11 years since he lost all his family, so sometimes he will try cooking food that his parents used to make. However he... Is not the best cook. He tries, he really does, but it's not his thing. So having someone put the time and effort to do this small act, of cooking him the food that he misses since a teen, it makes him have butterflies. Plus, seeing his lover in an apron sounds cute in his mind.

Sully - strong morals and dark humor

Sully may share a body with Liu, but he is still his own person, as an alter. And most importantly he is the system protector. It is his role to make sure no more trauma is suffered. So, having a lover that understand that and agrees with him, it is a sight to behold to him. And most importantly, having someone that understands and respects the boundaries he puts, which are many, is important for him.

Now... The system is rather small, and so Sully is a trauma holder alter. But... His method of coping with that trauma is mostly through dark humor. Jokes about his trauma done by him or the body, is the way he knows how to cope and, in his eyes, not turn into a monster like Jeff, which he despises. Having someone letting him indulge in his not healthy but necessary coping mechanism, and even joking around with their own problems, it ends up in a great pair for him.

B.E.N._drowned - Sass, nerdiness and night owl

BEN is not really a human, and although he sometimes can be very human like due to the Moonchildren Souls, the one in control is still the Behavioral Environment Network. So he has the power to be as mean as he wants and not feel remorse. Though as a behavioral AI, he can react in many ways depending what his code finds most fitting. He didn't start liking sass, but after being around Jeff and collecting data to act based on that, besides the souls, he ended up sassy, and enjoys now having sass thrown back at him. It is a familiar environment, which is something he sometimes need.

He is based around on TLOZ, and his souls had that common interest besides other games, so of course he wants a gamer to fit with him. He doesn't sleep, so having someone also be a night owl and stay the whole night spending time with him, letting him learn their functions and behavior, it makes him enthusiastic, as much as malevolent code can be.

Eyeless Jack - Patience and a hard stomach

Jack, different than a lot of the others, didn't want to be here at first. And as such he isn't the easiest to approach, sometimes being plainly reclusive, and others being aggressive. Having patience but still perseverance to approach him at his own time, and let things go in his time, it makes him trust you even more.

Jack, as we all know, is a human eating being. Not sure cannibal is the right term since he isn't a human anymore, but I'll use it for now. As a cannibal, it is not easy to be around him sometimes. He is not afraid to eat in front of others if needed, or to harvest organs out of a human carcass. If you can endure at least the putrid smell of organs and blood, than you will find EJ to not be he worst to be around.

Laughing Jack - playfulness and clingyness

LJ is, as we all know I assume, a clown! So what would I clown like to be around? People who know how to have fun, of course! Playful battering, joking around, a good sense for a performance, this are all things that, summed by playfulness, make Jack feel alive. The feeling of succeeding at making his lover laugh till their cheeks turn red, it is a sight to behold to him, so having a good sense of playfulness makes things a lot easier.

On the other hand, Jack was once abandoned for years in his toy box. He grew to feel lonely, sometimes even around others. Having someone being close to him, even when not the best option to do so, and the feeling of being wanted all times. It does magic to the clown.

Laughing Jill - good sense of humor and optimism

Jill, like Jack, is a big clown lady and as such, she loves to make people laugh and have fun! She isn't the fondest of the more mean plays, but she does love striking jokes around, so having a good sense of humor is the best option of a pair for her!

Although she was made to be happy and make others happy, she can have negative emotions too. But having someone that will make sure to let her know that there is light at the end of the tunnel, and give her the care she gives to others, it is truly special for her.

Candy Pop - chaotic nature and being laid back

Candy is to an extent a genie like entity. And as such, they love to bring chaos, and distort stuff to their amusement. And as such, having someone that matches their personality is what they want. C'mon, who doesn't want to see what can happen if they inflate their head like a balloon? I do.

As such, someone strict to the rules, and someone that wants them to be in line at all times bore them if not anger them. They need some semblance of freedom. Being laid back, doing your stuff when they do theirs, and uniting forces to end get out of trouble, that's love to them.

Jason the Toymaker - size difference and art appreciation

Jason is someone that likes to feel in control of any and all situation. He is a manipulators, so making sure he is the one up top, it's what he wants ever and ever. Having someone smaller than him, it gives him a semblance of control, even if only illusory. It plays in his control freakiness.

As a toymaker, he is an artisan. He loves to create intricate toys, which are pieces of art in itself. Having someone that appreciates it and praises him for it, it boosts his already inflated ego. He might plainly squeeze you for your praises, as a thank you.

OPINION ON GASTER!! or. less predictably. opinion on. gerson. my uderrated fave

PREDICTABLY, I LOVE HIM. Also, congrats, he got a DOUBLE bingo! Oh, and, I went with “everything we (presumably) canonically know about [the guy who is probably] Gaster, as opposed to any one person’s interpretation (even my own).

I want to know everything about him. But I also love the ambiguity of many aspects. He’s a kind, weird old man and I love that. He has unclear motives but seems benevolent. He just wants to help people but also seems to have his own agenda. He needs help. He might not want it. He’s a disembodied voice. He might be a goop. I want to squish him and also hug him and kiss him on the forehead.

I think he’s way kookier than I write him, and as much as I enjoy the idea I don’t think he’s the skelebros’ dad. Lots of people make him mean or cold or even outright cruel, and although those can be interesting to read, I think they’re wrong. I think even if he does end up being an antagonist, he’d be the kind that you can’t even really argue with. Like, the one who absolutely has a point, maybe even a better motive than us. Or, perhaps, someone who can’t be argued with or faulted completely because he’s so far gone. Maybe?

I am extremely guilty of ignoring parts of canon. As far as Asterism goes, I’m literally pretending Deltarune doesn’t exist. It’s 2016/2017 in my brain.

As far as Gerson goes…

I like him!! I think there’s a lot to him. He drops some important lore in the game, and I think he’s extremely underestimated and underutilized as a character bc people are just afraid of old characters 😔 I enjoy seeing people write him, but I don’t have a ton of solid headcanons about him. I think he’s the kind of guy who’d yank your chain on purpose and gives unexpectedly strong handshakes.

I don’t really understand the “A Beast Unleashed” square so I’m using it to mean, “people don’t do enough with this character.”

Idk how to write him, but I definitely wish there was more stuff with him.

ppl might not like me for this, but my headcannon for Jo has alot of the same qualities Ida does (extremely capable, brave, badass) and I don't think that's any coincidence on Bucky's part that he married her. I think after being so close to Ida, he wasn't really sure about other women but then met Jo and she's like Ida's cool twin and he just feels so at home with her right away.

In the au of Bucky and Ida being together, I think his brand of over the top expressions of love and complete fearlessness would actually be so positive in her journey of trying to overcome her trauma (not downplaying my respectful king Rosie btw) but I know from personal expereince sometimes when you are so uncertain about your own approach, it is a big relief to just be safe in the hands of someone who loves you so much and you feel so safe with, that you open up more quickly than you expect on some things

Why would Nettles love Daemon?

I don’t think it gets stated enough, or at all, why Nettles might love Daemon. I mean most people(myself included) focus on how or why Daemon loves Nettles. This emphasis is for good reason given how you have to practically pull teeth to get people to acknowledge that he even loves her, but Nettles own feelings for him are lost in the shuffle.

I will not sugarcoat things, Daemon is a pretty problematic character who titters on the very edge of being morally gray.

Basically his only redeeming moments in the books are during his marriage with Laena(where he’s behaving normal for once) :

And his time with Nettles at Maidenpool(where he is acting in a completely altruistic fashion, going so far as being willing to give his life so she can escape and live):

Any other time and he’s behaving the way you’d expect someone with the moniker the Rogue Prince to behave. He’s a murderer. He’s committed Kinslaying(several times over). He is a groomer. He’s a rapist(those young maidens he deflowered couldn’t exactly consent).

He’s pretty awful, though entertaining in my humble opinion, and one of my faves, for most of the books. So why would a character like Nettles, who despite everything she has gone through in life is described, from the little that we do get on her character, as being an empathetic person(see her crying over Jace a boy she barely knew as well as the home she lost during the Battle of the Gullet)?

Well, Nettles can see past what is there. What is beyond the surface. She’s more observant than most(She’s had to be living on the street). We see those deduction skills at work when she claims Sheepstealer:

She’s the only one to use Sheepstealer’s love for sheep to successfully tame and claim him where even those with certain Valyrian blood died in the process of trying to claim him. She can see something more. Even where others can’t or rather won’t look.

So with Daemon, who is a hot-tempered man, she as well sees past the bravado. Past the rebellious younger brother of Viserys Targaryen. Sees past the Rogue Prince label. She sees Daemon Targaryen. She can see something more in people. She sees a yearning.

Daemon Targaryen is at the end of the day just a man. He yearns for acceptance. He wants to be recognized. You have to keep in mind that Daemon is a second son. He will never inherit the throne. He will never be king, but he still has will and passion. He wants to make a name for himself. He wants his brother's love. He wants to be recognized.

He wants to be his brother's heir, but he’s never accepted as such by his brother or his brothers court:

As a result of this partial rejection by this man who he loves, he’s always yearning to prove himself. He’s yearning for love, acceptance, and recognition.

Now with Nettles, she’s someone who lives on the very margins of society. She’s a bastard girl born to a whore. She doesn’t know who her father is. She has no place to call home. She grew up on the streets of Driftmark. She’s an unlikely dragonrider.

She’s had to fend for herself because of the circumstances which she was born into. She hardly ever can get a kind word said about her. Compliments are riddled with snide comments, and yet oddly enough, Nettles sees a kindred spirit in Daemon Targaryen.

Yes, he’s a Targaryen prince and she’s a lowborn bastard girl, but they have a commonality at their cores. They are both outsiders in a way.

They’ve both never had someone accept them for what they are. Loving and truly caring for them. They’ve had anyone see the actual person within. Past the title of being the Rogue Prince. Past the “stench” of being a brown-skinned bastard girl. They’ve never had that except with each other. Out of everyone they see each other.

Nettles isn’t this dirty unworthy lowborn girl who used her wiles or a spell to claim something she shouldn’t have been able to. She’s not a whore or a common thief. She’s just Netty to Daemon.

She’s an incredibly brilliant and courageous young woman. She’s ingenious. She’s someone who despite it all manages to show compassion to others. She hasn’t let the world break her. She’s learned how to live without love, but she's a still a girl. She’s a girl who is young with so much life in her. Who is deserving of love and affection just as much as any other

Nettles loves Daemon for Daemon. Not because he is a Targaryen, a charming prince, or the Royal consort of a queen. He’s not just a murderer or a rapist who only takes pleasure in chaos. He is Daemon Targaryen and he is just a man.

A man who is capable of great cruelty, but also acts of great kindness. He can be patient and benevolent. He can be loving, generous, and he can be gentle:

He also a man of rage. Of great intensity and passion. Of fire and blood. He would kill for those he loves:

Daemon Targaryen is a man of duality and Nettles sees the good and the bad. She sees the impatient man. The rogue. The man who wants to be loved. To love in return. She recognizes that longing because she longs to.

notes on my life/recovery lately bc this is kinda my diary whatever:

shit is hard and i'm very tired but it's like... half the time the same tired as the last.......months year whatever, the kind that's like i don't wanna live with all this weight on me tired, i don't wanna do anything, i don't have energy tired. but the other half of the time (okay, idk if it's half but you know, some of the time) it's the 'i'm doing something' kind of tired. so there's that, it's gone from doing nothing beside the bare minimum of the usual and feeling suffocated and squashed to starting to do things to get better. slowly it will indeed get better.. i think and hope

my psychologist seems nice, we've only done 3 sessions so far but he's gentle and listens and has already made me realize something that made me go oh? bc it made sense and put things into perspective. it's more about getting to know me and my Issues now bc it's the start and it IS veeery hard to express myself and be fully open but yeah baby steps therapy is a lot i need to give myself time

sometimes i still feel like maybe it'd have been better if i'd just died. sometimes i think of the hospital and get overwhelmed and feel so.. heavy and sad and alone. sometimes, actually a lot of the time, i feel so much shame. at times i think i can't do this. i can't get better and be happy. .... but i think all this is normal. sadly but like i can't just stop feeling all the negative emotions and thinking all the negative thoughts that have overwhelmed me for a long time all of a sudden?

started seeing my new psychiatric rehabilitation technician (if that's even how you say it in english ?) too and like. it's a nice contrast with my psychologist and psychiatrist lmao he's very chill (and this rehabilitation is generally more chill like it's not as taxing as therapy) and funny and he calls me out in ways that make me laugh at myself which. is actually nice. like imagine someone going "you think that judgemental thought you have about yourself is objective and real????" in both a dude be so for real way and a professional, useful way. simultaneously. obviously that doesn't mean the obsessive negative self loathing thoughts are gone, it takes time, but that approach does work with me. i'm a very ironic and self-ironic(?) person and this rehabilitation technician is around my age so like it's a dynanic and method that works, he makes me think over my thoughts, we discuss relationships and emotions blabla and it's very useful without being completely serious and somber..? i guess

also he knows stuff about trans things which. man it's a breath of fresh air in that place bc almost everyone has always been so bad at treating trans ppl lmao

and i told him stella cadente by mahmood is one of the songs that made me feel at first(ish) listen "Oh. it's talking about me" (i was telling him that kind of feeling makes me feel happy and is cathartic) and he put it in his spotify faves and said he'd listen to it later which. man honestly that might be more personal than anything i've told him so far (joking but also likeeeee that song is me.) (also he asked me what the song's about and i was like "uh. first of all it's not a happy song." and he replied "yeah i figured. i mean there was maybe a 1% chance that it was" 😭😭😭😭 called out.)

i've been doing word puzzles, crosswords, sudoku etc more again lately, especially when i start feeling very bad bc it keeps my mind occupied. i told the rehabilitation guy and he said that's good, better than movies and music (which i told him are my other ways to pass the time, things i like) bc those don't really require i do anything. and yeah agree and in fact i haven't been that good at watching movies lately bc my mind wonders towards the bad thoughts too easily and i can't get into the film

i'm gonna get a physical jigsaw puzzle when i go to my parents', or maybe actually buy a new one now i think about it, one that has an image i really like so it's even more fun and motivating

i got this. i got this. i need to keep repeating this to myself and when it's bad it turns into "i don't know how but i have to do this" and when it's Really bad it's "i don't think i can do this" but as long as i get through those moments i can keep doing these things that will help me get better

rant time!

kpop reaction content isn't exactly new (at least as far as I know) but it does seem to have kind of boomed in the last... two-three years I think. I remember there being only a handful of relevant kpop reaction content creators on youtube, some more popular that the others, but still there weren't a ton of them around. and I guess it makes sense because kpop itself has gotten much more popular and widely known outside of just [REDACTED] and among a wider age range I'd say.

but nowadays if you look up “X group - Y title track reaction” you will find tens, if not hundreds of reaction videos (especially if its a well known group) ranging from channels with hundreds of thousand subs to small account with a couple of hundred views on their reaction videos. and I just find that so weird.

like... especially for channels that do reactions as their main (and only) content, I find it extremely difficult to believe that after a certain point there is any authenticity behind these reactions. these big reaction channels are out there reacting to damn near every relevant kpop group's comebacks (and there are a LOT of them) and every single reaction is generally positive and often very enthusiastic.

aside from the fact that logically and statistically it's impossible for someone to like every title track being released, even if they're all objectively good (which they're not), because no one likes every genre and every style of music, there is basically no creativity involved in creating this type of content which makes it very dull both for the creator and the consumer after a while.

on top of that, this type of content has created a really toxic environment around expressing opinions and criticism toward kpop groups and kpop music. I just came across a video from one of these bigger (while also being newer) creators talking about how she's not happy with the content she's been making for the past year. she said that it's extremely overwhelming trying to keep up with every comeback when everyone expects you to react to their fave's CB and after a while sitting and reacting to music videos becomes repetitive especially when you're not even allowed to truly be yourself and express your opinions. she said she can't even talk about having a bias in a group because she would get tons of hate comments and dms about ppl bashing her for not having a different bias. I can't imagine how people would react to a reaction video creator saying she doesn't like a comeback or even a certain element in the song/mv.

I used to love kpop reaction videos back when I had just discovered them and they were not as big. like I genuinely get the appeal. seeing someone who's not a teenage girl (which is what stereotypically the general public thinks kpop stans are) is pretty validating. and back then there were like 'vocal coach reacts' or 'producer reacts' etc. seeing the reaction of "experts" analyzing different parts of a song/mv was really interesting for someone like me with zero knowledge of any of the technical stuff. and I also understand that they do contribute to promoting groups and comebacks to a certain degree. but it has just gone too far, in my opinion.

idk maybe I’ve just gotten old and lost the will to enjoy the small things that used to bring me joy but I genuinely don't enjoy reaction videos anymore. most of those older 'exerpts' (except for two I think) aren't active anymore (I'm guessing at least to some degree bc stans didn't want to hear that their fave was not that legendary of a vocalist or their fave song wasn't as layered and complex as they thought it was) and instead there are just random people reacting to kpop and some of them you can just tell that all their reactions are completely faked out. Youtubers are jumping on this trend bc it’s easy (in terms of not having any kind of real substance) and gets u good views if you’re a little charming and funny.

TL;DR : everything is fake and authenticity is dead. kdjfdjf I'm mostly joking but in the end, as per usual with my rants of this kind, I don't have a specific point or a solution. I'm just starting a conversation. so if any of you have something to add or just want to chat about this send me an ask!! i love nico a ridiculous amount lol, he was my favorite PJO character ever since i first read the original books. and even though i do have some issues with the sun and the star, i still love his development. it actually reminds me a lot of how idia, even though his anxiety definitely hasn't gone away, has been shown since the end of book 6 to be making more of an effort to put himself out there and try to be friendly with his classmates because he does want to have friends, he's just traumatized and scared.

see, i've always thought there were a surprising amount of similarities between leo and nico but the books never called attention to them since the two basically never got to interact. and i wish they had, because i think they could have an interesting friendship if they got to know each other better! so maybe in this AU they could be friends, and leo could be there encouraging nico to stay and helping him understand the tech. i've also gotten myself kind of attached to the idea of him moving into ramshackle though! i guess either idea could work, as long as nico gets to be happy.

i haven't had a chance to ask my friend (who i've referred to as a will solace expert because she has so many headcanons and thoughts about him) where she thinks will would end up yet! i do think that if he somehow ended up at NRC, he'd be one of the few light magic users there.

omg i totally get the feeling of being embarassed about your ideas, anon!! for the longest time i used to not really post any of my own thoughts because i feel like i'm not very creative and it made me nervous. i'm also not always the best at just thinking up general headcanons and ideas unless i've got some sort of prompt or theme to go by. even now sometimes i post headcanons about my favorite twst ships and such while thinking, what if everyone who reads this hates it. what if someone thinks my interpretation of riddle is so bad that i don't deserve my url ASKFJGFD.

i like your ideas about leo, though!! i did think a bit about how he might be as an NRC student, and i also thought he'd definitely adjust better than nico would (makes a lot of sense that he'd be weirded out by the gloomy atmosphere initially, though) and would be fascinated and excited by all the magical technology and gadgets. i also figure that since he is someone who's always seeking out quiet and personal space to be alone and work on his projects, he wouldn't mind too much that the students tend to keep to themselves. and canonically he tries to be a lot more of a loud outgoing jokester than he really is in order to cover up his insecurities and try to make people like him, so maybe he could make some friends there without feeling like he has to do that.

i think leo made a few pop culture references in the books (one i remember for sure is star trek, though he says he doesn't like it) so maybe he wouldn't quite be chronically offline but he also wouldn't be obsessive about it, because his engineering projects are his top priority. he's definitely not a gamer, but i could see him liking to have background noise while he works sometimes and putting on whatever anime everyone is talking about! …which makes me imagine one of his dorm mates getting annoyed at him because he wasn't paying enough attention to remember their favorite background character from episode 679 of one piece, lol.

oh him meeting azul would be a disaster for SURE lol, let's hope idia warns him and that he doesn't have any unfortunate encounters with floyd and jade. and i'm not sure what a fitting explanation for leo having fire hair would be but i do agree that it would be extremely cool. and for that matter, i guess we'd also need an explanation for idia and ortho's hair if they were in the PJO universe… my first thought is they could either just have normal hair (boring, but it works) or maybe it's an extremely rare hades kid thing.

hi i hope you don't mind anons about this but i thought your post abt sns shippers re: ss was rly interesting! i think it's rly common for m/m shippers in general to look at a canon, poorly-developed m/f ship and laugh at the female character's plight like it's a sort of revenge for their m/m ship not being canon. i wanted to say though that i think the reason this is so prevalent among not only sns or nrt fans in general but also ppl who don't rly keep up with nrt as a whole (like all the viral memes and posts about how canon adult sske is a deadbeat dad, etc) is precisely because of the existence of boruto; i know you disregard that series entirely (bc duh lmao) but as someone who got morbidly curious enough to follow a decent bit of it - i truly don't think any other canon sequel in fiction has gone so far as to undermine its own canon ships. there's so many instances where you genuinely have no choice but to interpret the situation as sske and nrt each respectively being trapped in loveless marriages unless you're wearing glasses that are not merely rose-tinted, but ass-blasted with barbie tier pink paint. so unfortunately it makes sense that ppl make the jokes you mentioned in your post - the material is canon, but everyone is so OOC that the ppl laughing about it can still feel like they can ignore it as it's not the "true" canon that fits each character. imo it's like how comics fans laugh about their faves doing stupid things in like, the latest tom king run or zeb wells's new arc or whatever - it's "canon" but so clearly contradicts years of per-established material that ppl don't take it seriously, so they can criticize it without feeling like they're actually insulting the character. like there's so many spidey fans on reddit or twitter or whatever who obviously adore peter but also constantly share memes humiliating him or making him seem like this completely different, awful person bc it's commonly understood that this isn't the real(TM) pete. but ofc none of this negates ur broader point abt fandom misogyny, i just think this is why it's so prevalent wrt nrt's canon ships in particular, if that makes sense!
