Soo this a little self indulgent so if you don't feel comfortable to write it don't feel pressured, but maybe how Kimi would help reader who has like really bad sunburn. Like I think he would help him put alovora oli and moisturiser on. ( I washed my parents cars today and forgot for a second how hot it is in Australia especially where I live and ended up with horrible sunburn)
🍪
🍪 aussie sunburns are no joke one time i forgot to put sunscreen on for 2 hours max and my skin was bright red and peeling for a whole week. stay safe fellow aussies and don't get cooked <3
kimi would be scolding you so much you think he's channeling every nonna to ever exist. he's sympathetic, of course, and he's absolutely slathering you in aloe vera and moisturiser. that doesn't mean he's not gonna make sure how silly it was.
probably initially thinks that you were out for a superrrrrr long time for no good reason. he has yet to learn the terrors of an australian summer. the seatbelts. the hand rails. the sand. the pavement. the ... well, everything, really. then he finds out you were doing something nice for your parents and you weren't really out for all that long. you'd probably been living together in europe for a while, you definitely started slacking on your sun safety. it's still important there, but you have a lot more leeway.
anyway, kimi's very gentle with your burn. not so much your feelings. he'll apologise after you're all healed up, but in the moment he's just very stressed. he doesn't like seeing you in pain and the way you were wincing was not good for his blood pressure. he definitely researched how much sun exposure it took to get radiation poisoning or something. he's freaking out. kiss him and tell him you're fine, and he'll calm down a little. he's still scolding you and treating you like you're made of glass until there's no sign of the burn anymore (except maybe a new patch of freckles if you get them)

Can I get drabble for IH 🥺
I remember you wrote a drabble for IH where Reader enjoys cuddling with Andy in summer because he is cold and the weather is hot.
Well, now the winter has come (also, wow -33°C - that VERY COLD) and it is Curtis' turn to enjoy some cuddling with his mate because he is so freaking warm. Andy is sad, but he can always light the fireplace and cuddle Reader in front of it - perfect amount of heat and icy.
Curtis brushed his hand down your back and up again as he looked from you to Andy, watching his forced pack member sitting near the fireplace with a book in his hand. Winter had set in early, nearly three weeks early and it hit with a vengeance, blistering snow and sharp winds that blasted the area with inescapable chill.
It was too cold for you to attach yourself to Andy, now you clung to Curtis. Your werewolf boyfriend and mate had a near constant hold on you to warm you up, the contact boastful for him and irritating to Andy. It wasn’t that the vampire couldn’t have joined in on the glorious moments of your affectionate need, but someone needed to stock the fire and do errands.
“Wait until summer, mutt.” Andy flipped the page and flipped Curtis off, meeting his pride with a scowl. “You may be warm now-“
“Winter months are longer, leech.”
“How did you feel about Australia, sweetheart?”
Their questions were met with silence, the soft sounds of your breathing making both men grow silent. Andy had returned to his book and Curtis had resumed rubbing your back.
Both content to feel and see you sleep.

Idea: on the 13th of every month, we share stories of our dumbassery and other things. Specifically from when we where a child.
I'll go first.
When I was 2, I wanted to hold my newborn baby sister. I dropped her on her head and called her heavy before walking away.
Also when I was 2, I chopped all my hair off by myself.
We used to have really aggressive chickens. We had ten, it was like the Mafia, how you've got the really high up bosses, and then there's the "soldiers"
These chickens had sharp as fuck beaks. I have some cousins who live in a town that is in central north of my state which is a really hot place to live, so they used to come down her every summer in Australia.
I had a rule. If the chickens where out, I stayed in. One day, my kite was outside, and one of my said cousins, who was like, 14 at the time, and I was maybe 4-6 years old? Was gonna take all us kids to the park, and I wanted to fly my kite. But the chickens were out. We'll call him L. L asked me why I was just standing at the backdoor looking longingly out, and I explained my dilemma to him. So he decides to carry me to my kite so I can grab it and we can go. But as we are walking, one of these little shits of a chicken jumps up and attacks his cheek. He starts bleeding, it's not that bad but it freaked him out so much, he dropped me onto the ground where I was surounded, as if tho in a pit, of these chickens. Luckily his mum was watch from our laundry which had a door to our back yard and she came running out with a broom to beat the chickens off with.
When I was four, I was bitten by a snake.
When I was 3, my uncle full on yeeted me across the room, later telling my grandfather he wanted me to hit the wall. we don't talk to him anymore, and all my family members have agreed that it is an unwritten rule to not invite him to Christmas.
6-7 months after being bitten by the snake, my aunty took me and 2 of my sisters, lets call them G and A. G is older than me by five years, A is younger than me by 3. ( She was born a month before my birthday.) To a petting zoo with a snake inclosure. My gran (we were staying with her) gave G $10 to buy us an ice-cream each and these little bags of chickens seed the place sold so you could feed the chickens. (Thankfully, not agressive ones.) There was a cafe platform thingo that my aunty was sitting at which was maybe 100 m away from us. (109 yards for Americans or people who don't use the metric system.)
There was an artificial lake that they dried up during droughts. This was during a very bad drought. The chickens are near this dried up lake, so little 5 y/o me is just thinking, in my tiny brain "what if a chicken fell in there? They must be hungry!" And this lake is lined with rocks, so I go stand on one and to my horror, and I mean, any adult seeing this would be thinking 'holy shit, I am literally within an inch of death, holy fuck.'
There is a red belly black snake. They are some of the most poisonous snakes in Australia. In fact, quick little Google will tell you it's in the TOP TEN LIST OF MOST DANGEROUS SNAKES IN AUSTRALIA.
One of my uncles is a professional snake catcher, and told us how to react if a snake is near us, and thank fuck that didn't leave my brain. Snakes don't have very good eyesight, apparently? That's just according to him, don't @ me. So he told us to stay very still.
I do this, and in doing so, terrify my sister, G. So she starts calling my name from the time, which was Emma, and is trying to get me to go back to her. I start walking back as slowly as possible after a few minutes and tell her there is a snake there, it's looking at me, and it's black with a red stomache. She's all like 'fuck you, no there's not.' so I tell her "go see for yourself then!" So she does and has the same reaction as me. Meanwhile, I'm trying to hold back A, who loves snakes, and doesn't realise how bad it could be if she sees it.
G comes back and decides what to do next. which is go to my aunty who was watching us but couldn't see the snake. We tell my au Ty, she tells the cashier. The cashier explains that he's not qualified to take care of it, but his manager is. So he gets his manager, who comes out with a rubber sack and a grabby thing, and the manager gets G to show him where the snake is. After 45 mins if searching, they come back and say to my aunty "I have 2 things to tell you. One, we couldn't find the snake, and 2, we don't own that type of snake."
He spent 6 months searching for it before finding it in the rabbit inclosure.
Between the ages of 1-6, I had a licking batteries phase. I would claim they tasted good. Better yet, I did it facing a wall in our hallway with the lights off.
When I was seven, I really liked playing outside. One day, it was raining, so I couldn't go outside. So I waited patiently inside. My mum had the front door open, but the flyscreen shut, because I liked watching the rain hit the ground.
I had grabbed something to eat, but noticed the rain had stopped. So I started running for the outside world. And no one warned me. They all thought I was gonna stop and open it. They thought I could see it. (This story should've been a dead giveaway that I have shitty eyesight in hindsight.)
I ran straight through the flyscreen door, and went splat face first on the concrete.
Let this post be a warning I'm pretty fucking stupid.

“Thank you so much for the food, Mrs. Bang!” Tori smiled at the woman as she piled more food onto her plate.
“You guys deserved a nice meal, you’re working so hard.” Chan’s mother smiled. “And take some more of the ribs.”
Tori shook her head. Her plate was already covered in food, and it was seconds. “I’m technically supposed to be on a diet for the tour, but I’m cheating a little.”
She dropped two ribs on the plate anyways. “You can cheat a little bit more.”
Tori grinned. “Well I can’t argue with that.”
She hurried back to the table. The Australian weather agreed with her, and she was taking full advantage of her summer wardrobe. Though, she had to admit, the shorts and crop top were starting to get a bit chilly as the night settled in. She’d stolen Hyunjin’s flannel to keep out some of the chill.
She plopped herself down next to Jeongin, who had already demolished half of his second plate.
“Enjoying yourself?” She teased.
“So much!” He said with his mouth full. “The meat is so good.”
“I know, right?” Tori laughed, taking a bite of her ssam. “It’s so nice to have real food again.”
“I should get more.” He looked over to the food table. “Aw...there’s no more ribs.”
“Take mine, Jeonginnie.” She moved the two ribs to his plate, licking the sauce off of her fingers.
“But there yours.” He protested, but looked like he was seriously considering eating them.
Tori gestured to her plate. “I still have lots of food, and I’m starting to get full anyways.”
“THANKS!” He grabbed the first rip without hesitation. “You sure you don’t want the other one?”
“Nah, I’m already getting pudgy off of one meal.” She laughed.
Jeongin rolled his eyes, but still poked her stomach. “Pudge, pudge.”
Tori snorted. “Eat up, we have a busy day tomorrow.”
After dinner, they were all lounging around and struggling to accept the massive meal they’d just eaten. Tori decided to take the opportunity to go and get a glass of water. She wandered into the house, wiping her bare feet off on the mat. The kitchen was just down the hall, so she headed towards it.
“I don’t know what you want me to do!”
Chan’s voice carried from the kitchen, sounding a bit heated.
Tori, being a rational and well-adjusted adult, immediately hid around the corner.
“What do you mean you don’t know?” It was his mom, and Tori instantly sunk lower. Debating if she should sneak back out, she decided against it. If they saw her sneaking away, they’d know she’d been listening. And she didn’t want to be involved in any family drama.
“You’re the leader, Christopher, you’re supposed to look after your team!”
“MOM, it was two ribs!” Chan insisted. “She had two plates why are you mad at me because she decided she wasn’t hungry?”
Tori’s eyes widened. Maybe she was already involved in the family drama.
She heard a sigh, the type of sigh that instantly made her fear for Chan. “I told you that you had to be nice to her. She’s outnumbered and she told me she’s on a diet. Why is she on a diet?”
“We’re all on diets, Mom, we aren’t strict about it.” He tried to explain.
“I heard her tell Jeongin that she thought she was pudgy. Are you making her insecure?”
“She likes being pudgy.” Chan groaned. “She says it’s better for cuddling and hiding snacks.”
There was a very long stretch of silence.
“Christopher.” His mother began. “Make sure she eats something.”
Tori heard footsteps and squeezed herself against the wall as Chan’s mom walked past. She heard rustling in the fridge, and then Chan stormed past.
She peeked into the kitchen, hurrying to get her glass of water before going back outside. Chan’s mom was preoccupied packing up all of the food, and Chan was nowhere to be seen.
“There you are.”
She jinxed it.
“Hey.” She turned with an awkward smile. “Fancy meeting you here.”
He seemed blind to her awkwardness, and just plopped down on one of the picnic benches. She sat down next to him, taking a tentative sip of water.
“Something bothering you?” She asked, unsuccessful in her goal to sound nonchalant.
“Urgh,” He reached into his hoodie pocket and pulled something out, extending it to her.
She blinked. “A...dinner roll?”
“Technically...” He pulled out another one. “Two.”
Tori tilted her head. “Chan, you live here. I don’t think you need to hoard food.”
“It’s not for me.” He placed it on the table next to her. “Eat.”
“I’m ahh...not hungry, but thanks.” She took another sip of water.
“No choice.”
“But I ate a ton at dinner.” She whined.
“What if I pull the leader card?”
Tori shook her head.
“What if I tell you that if you don’t eat them I’ll be in a fight with my mom on one of the few times I get to see her?” He raised an eyebrow.
Tori sighed in defeat, grabbing one of the rolls of the table. “There’s fluff on it from your sweater.”
He brushed it off with a finger. “There you go.”
She took a bite, chewing on the bread. “I’m not supposed to eat carbs.”
“Don’t care.” He leaned back against the table as she ate. “My mom thinks I’m starving you so I have to prove her wrong.”
“If anything,” Tori squished the bread between her hands. “You overfeed me. You bought me two hot dogs yesterday.”
“Can you please go tell my mom that?” He smiled. “She was freaking out because you were giving food to Jeongin.”
“He’s a growing boy.” She finished the first roll and reached for the second. “And I really couldn’t eat another bite.”
“You seem to be doing okay right now.”
“Well, yeah.” She filled her cheeks with bread. “But I love bread.”
“You love food.” Chan corrected with a laugh. “And you’d better be prepared for a late night snack because she’s sending food back with us.”
“I was hoping we could get burgers.” She teased.
Chan shook his head. “Pretty sure I have to send my mom a picture of you eating leftovers.”
“Ohh, can I wear my koala pyjamas?”
“You have koala pyjamas?”
“We went to the Australia Zoo today, of course I bought Koala pyjamas.” She wiped the crumbs off her hands. “They have a little hood with ears.”
“Really?” His eyes widened. “Then yes, you can wear your koala pyjamas.”
“Sweet.” Tori chewed on her cheek for a second. “Do you think you could build a house out of bread?”
“What?” Chan looked very confused. “We’re talking about how your diet is about to ruin my relationship with my mom and you want to know if you can make a house out of bread?”
“Yeah.” Tori nodded. “Not gingerbread. Like squishy bread.”
“Why would you want that?”
“Because I could run around and bounce into the walls.”
Chan held a hand up and felt her forehead. “I think you have heatstroke.”
Tori sighed. “My genius is too much for this group.”
Chan snorted. “So our next album is going to feature a song about a bread house?”
“Watch me.” Tori winked. “Also...I snooped through your fridge while your mom was giving a tour and I want one of those ice cream sandwiches.”
Chan gave her a cheeky grin. “Then let’s go.”

Are you embarrassed/ashamed to burp/fart in front of your friends?   Not embarrassed, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to do it, either.
When you make a typo, do you leave it, or go back and fix it?   I go back and fix it. Why would you not? lol.
Ever suffer from amnesia?   No. My memory is pretty much the exact opposite of that, lol.
What instrument do you prefer to play when playing Rockband/Guitar Hero WT?   I only ever played the guitar - we never had any of the other equipment to play the other instruments.
Have you ever picked out a song to listen to on a juke box?   Yeah, I used to love doing that when I was younger.
While riding roller coasters, do you close your eyes?   For some parts of them, yeah.
Have you learned anything important today?   No, not really. Today has just been fairly normal, all things considered. I slept in, had a shower, had breakfast, did a bunch of housework and now I’m doing this and watching TV with all the animals around me lol.
What's a talent that you wish you possessed?   I wish I could sing in tune.
Do you ever find yourself singing showtunes while in the shower?   Hahah, yep.
Have you ever eaten 3 meals from 3 different fast food places in one day?   Yeah, that’s definitely happened on days where I’ve been travelling non-stop, or on days where we’ve just been out all day. It’s not so common now but it does still happen at times.
When's the last time you were genuinely freaked out?   I honestly don’t remember.
Does anyone in your house own a gun?   No. Guns are illegal in this country, thank God.
Do you assign different ringtones to certain people?   No, that’s just far too much hassle when nobody ever rings me, haha.
Favorite way to eat a potato? (i.e. french fries, mashed potatoes...)   Fries or roasties, or hash browns.
Have you ever lived outside of the country that you currently reside in?   Yeah, I lived abroad in France for a year as a student.
Have you ever ridden in a limo?   Yes.
Have you ever thought that you were honestly going to die?   Yes, on a flight to Australia when we got caught in some really horrendous turbulence. Rationally I knew it was okay but being hurled around in your seat when you’re 15,000ft in the air while lightning flashes all around you isn’t the most pleasant experience in the world, lol.
What's the one thing you couldn't afford to leave behind on a vacation?   Well, anything.
If a brick suddenly showed up in front of you, what would you do with it?   Touch it?
Are there any song covers that you think are better than the original?   I’m sure there are some out there, yeah. I tend to prefer the version I’ve heard first, whichever that happens to me.
Does Christmas music played too far away from Christmas annoy you?   Yeah, it makes it less special IMO.
Have you ever wished you could experience being the other gender?   I mean, it would be pretty cool, sure.
Last thing you worried about? Toby being unwell, but luckily he seems absolutely fine now.
Are there in portraits/figurines in your house that you find creepy?   No.
Sprite, 7up, Sierra Mist, or Mountain Dew?   Uh, 7Up but I’ve never tried Sierra Mist before.
When was the last time you felt you were about to pass out from exhaustion?   The week before I finished for Christmas - I was just so insanely busy it was absolutely ridiculous.
Other than no school, what's your favorite thing about summer?   I work right through summer, but I love the weather and the feeling of freedom.
- Least favorite?   The humidity and how hot and sticky you get just doing nothing.
If you could change your age, how old would you make yourself?   I’m actually quite happy with my current age.
How old were you when you learned to ride a bike?   About four or five.
Have you ever cried in a movie theater?   Yeah, at the Deathly Hallows part 2 - several times, lol. Oh, and also when Cedric Diggory died.
When's the last time you went out of state?   I honestly don’t remember - well before COVID.
Do you like hot sauce? If yes, what do you usually put it on? No - spicy foods make me vomit, unfortunately.
Have you ever had 'a day at the spa'?   No, but the older I get, the more appealing that sounds.
Do you still have a VCR somewhere?   No, we never had one to begin with, though.
You see someone running around naked in the street. Your reaction?   I have no idea, it depends on a few other things too.
Are the files in your computer well organized or all over the place?   Well-organised.
Is there wall paper on your bedroom walls?   Nope, all the walls are painted.
Does yard work bore you, or do you enjoy it?   It bores me and makes my back hurt at the same time, so I don’t do it.
Do you own a sleeping bag?   No, I don’t think so.
Have you ever tried to put a huge puzzle together?   1000 pieces is the biggest I’ve ever done, but I’ve not done a jigsaw for years.
What do you put on your hamburger?   Bacon, mushrooms and blue cheese.
When was the last time you met someone new?   Hmm, last week when I met Helen for the first time! She was lovely and we’re planing to meet up again when she’s next up here visiting her mum.
Whats the furthest distance you’ve gone in the past 3 days?   I haven’t left the house in the past three days, hahah.
Are there dogs barking in your neighborhood right now?   No, not that I can hear.

Christmas in Australia is more fun than others might think. Granted, you e never spent a Christmas outside of your home, so your opinion might be a bit biased. With living in the Southern Hemisphere came scorching Christmases. No snow, bright sun, scorching rays, high waves, and great food. It’s always hot in summer, but every year your family buys a portion of the beach so you can have a private party.
Your entire family comes from both sides. There are so many kids, lots of aunts and uncles, and all four of your grandparents. Each Christmas is a time to remember, but the only thing that makes this holiday better than all the rest is that your beautiful girlfriend, Elizabeth Olsen, is joining you. It’s your first Christmas with her since dating, and she only said yes to coming because her older sisters are having some big fashion thing that her parents wanted to go to.
It’s really their loss since spending time with her is always a good time in your book. You thought having her over with so many of your family members would be nerve racking, but she’s met most of them before. Back when you and Elizabeth were starring in your very own movie. They came to set to give good graces, and they immediately fell in love with her. While you weren’t nervous, she was. She’s never even been to Australia, much less an Australian Christmas despite being great friends with the Hemsworths.
It’s actually how you two met. There was a press conference for one of the bigger Marvel movies, and the only cast members who could make it last minute was Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., and Elizabeth. The press conference was held in New York, and it just so happened to be the same week as one of your interviews there. Since you’re well known for your movies, it wasn’t a shock to meet some of the cast for the Marvel movies. You don’t believe in love at first sight? but you and Elizabeth came damn close to it.
For that very short week of nonstop interviews, you tried to spend as much time with her as possible before you went to London for another interview. After you two parted ways, you stayed in contact by text, facetime, email, and any other forms of communication. She was so captivating, and you hated being away from her even for one second.
At the start of your relationship, you learned that she’s never been to Australia in her life even if she wanted to go. Since Christmas is truly the best time for Australia, you promised her you’d make her go. There is no snow, no cold weather, the air conditioning needs to be blasted, but it’s so much fun to spend it in the sun.
The private section of the beach your dad rented is in full gear. The small children and preteens splash and have fun in the ocean. There are a couple of adults in the water to make sure everything is okay with the much smaller children. Your big and beefy uncles are having a sandcastle building contest. These are normally boring because kids don’t know how to make real sandcastles, but your uncles make a big deal out of it. They can make the castles as high as you, and you’re over five feet tall.
Your parents are tending to the barbeque grill as your dad does all the cooking and your mom tells him how good he’s doing. If she cooked, then you’re sure to land in the hospital. Your grandparents are relaxing under the big umbrella they requested you bring. They can’t handle too much sun, and if they are in it for too long, then they’ll get a really nasty sunburn that’s sure to put them in the hospital. You and Elizabeth are hanging with your parents since they’re hogging all of her time.
“So, Elizabeth, how’s your family? Why aren’t you with them?” your dad asks as he flips the fish.
He always makes the best seafood this time of year.
“James! Be polite!” your mother scolds him.
“It’s fine,” Elizabeth smiles and waves her off. “My sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley have some fashion things that my parents wanted to go to. I don’t have any children, and God forbid my sisters so we all agreed to spend New Year’s together.”
“Well, you’re always welcomed here,” your mother smiles warmly.
Your dad finishes cooking the food, and the whole family gathers together at the tables. Your dad’s food gets praises from all ages, but since you’ve had his halibut a thousand times, you and Elizabeth decide to take a stroll along the shore to get away from everyone else. It’s nice to spend time with your family, but you want some private time with her.
“How do you like Christmas here so far?”
“It’s fun. I’ve never had a Christmas where it wasn’t snowing, but I quite like it. It’s refreshing.”
“You know, I’ve never seen snow before.”
“Are you serious? It snows here. Your family doesn’t go to the mountains during that time?”
“No, never. We just never have the time during that time. Plus, I’m usually away doing another movie or interview.”
“That settles it then. Next year, you’re spending Christmas with my family. I’m sure your parents wouldn’t mind. Right?”
“I’m sure they wouldn’t mind if I spend New Year’s with them. It would be nice to get away from the sunshine and heat at least for one holiday,” you chuckle.
“You’re going to have so much fun. Snow is the best thing to play with.”
“How do you play with snow?”
“Y/N, you don’t know what you’re missing,” she grins. “You can make snow angels and snowmen. You can have snowball fights, go sledding, skiing, and snowboarding. The best thing is to make snow forts. It gets very cold easily, but making it is just as fun as spending a few minutes inside.”
“Now I’m excited,” you giggle.
“You should be. But for right now, we should get back to your parents. They’re calling us over.”
It’s going to be an adventure to experience a Christmas without the high waves, hot sun, and the sizzling fish your dad makes.
Tumblr media
You’ve never experienced weather like this before. From where you live, the coldest it’s ever gotten reached 10 degrees Celsius or 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Elizabeth’s family is originally from Minnesota, so she went back there despite living in Los Angeles. Your family was understanding when you told them you were going to be with your girlfriend and her family for Christmas since all of her family has yet to meet you. It’s only fair since she went with you last year.
To say you were shocked is an understatement. Not only does the cold put you in your fucking place, but an American Christmas is so much different than you expected. For one, they eat turkey, drink eggnog, make cookies, and have s’mores. There are other differences, but those are the ones you’re noticing right off the bat. You guess you could have turkey back home, but it wouldn’t be Christmas without your dad’s fish. It’s a nice change, but there’s nothing like home.
“So, Y/N, so I hear it’s your first time here?” Elizabeth’s mom, Jarnett, says.
“I’ve been in the States before, yes, but never a Christmas here you chuckle. “I thought it was going to be snowing.”
“Oh, it will, darling. Just give it some time. By tomorrow morning, this place is going to look like a wonderland!”
“Are you warm enough?” David, her dad, asks as he tends to the fireplace.
You’re wearing so many layers underneath your very thick jacket. It’s never been this cold back home, so you brought every warm clothing you owned.
“I’ll manage. You know, it doesn’t get this cold where I live.”
“What is Christmas like for you? It’s summer when it happens right?” Jarnett wonders.
“Yeah, is so much fun. I really like to surf with my brothers, my whole family plays on the beach, and I can’t forget Boxing day.”
“What’s that?” David asks.
“We don’t get that here,” Elizabeth explains.
“Oh, that’s unfortunate. Boxing day is a day to give back to the less fortunate. Churches love to collect leftover food, money, and other things in boxes which is then handed to the poor. It’s also a time to volunteer to these places. It really helps bring us all together so that everyone can have a good Christmas.”
“That sounds wonderful!”
“Yeah, I don’t know why the States doesn’t do this. Canada, the UK, and we do it,” you shrug.
It’s nice to share your Christmas traditions even though it may sound weird to them. They are kind enough to let you be a part of this special holiday, and it’s only fair you treat your countries traditions the same way. This Christmas is looking out to be one for the books already.
And it hasn’t even snowed yet.
Tumblr media
“Y/N, wake up!” Elizabeth whispers and shakes your shoulders.
“What?” you grumble sleepily.
“Come on, get up. Out on something warm. I want you to see this. It’s snowing!”
That was enough to get you out of bed because you were so excited to see snow when you first arrived. You hastily throw on a warm jacket and follow Elizabeth to the front door. You refrain from looking through the windows because you wanted to see snow in all its glory. She opens the front door and you just have enough energy to gasp.
Everything—the cars, houses, trees, bushes, street, and everything else in between—is all covered with freak snow. It's like a giant laid a big white blanket over everything. There’s still snow falling from the sky, so you just run outside in childlike excitement. Elizabeth watches as you tilt your head back and stick out your tongue to try and catch the falling snowflakes. It’s refreshing to watch someone who's never seen snow below. She gets to experience it through your eyes.
“This snow is so fluffy! It’s surprisingly not cold!” you exclaim.
“Yeah, is warmer when it snows because the air is losing moisture. It’s a lot drier so it’s warmer.”
“I love snow!” you shout and run into a small pile that’s been growing overnight.
Elizabeth laughs and joins in on the fun. She can’t imagine experiencing this with anyone other than you. This is what makes Christmas special.
It’s not where you have it, is the people you spend it with.

DRUCK reactions - s4 ep2
With special thanks to Michi ( @wodrueckts ) for looking over it to make sure I didn’t say anything glaringly wrong. 💛
CLIP 1: It’s hard out there for a hijabi
Here’s one thing I like about this episode: the shot of the tiara spinning in the air. That said, it’s kind of inexplicable. It’s been like a month since the Abiball, so what’s the tiara doing here? Was Amira holding onto it all this time? Did she have this vision of, like, sorting out her shit as she prepares to move out of her parents’ home, and remembering how her gay friend gave the tiara to her because he hated that his boyfriend was so hot he just naturally won all popularity contests? And she was like, “Imma do a solid for future Amira and get rid of this dollar store tiara right now”?
Anyway.
So far, Amira M.’s season has been the only Sana season not to drop during Ramadan. Seems like the Druck team thought they might not even get to Amira, and then they got renewed at the eleventh hour. So they needed to put that shit out quick because the character was set to leave for Australia and anyway it would’ve been really weird to do an Amira season in uni, and then go back to high school with the next gen. So this season is set in summer, and depending on what Wtfock does with Yasmina, it might be the only Sana season to do so.
I think setting this clip lakeside was pretty clever. Plenty of chances to show people in swimming suits or skimpy clothing, as well as people’s reactions to Amira’s burkini. It very quickly sets the stage for the season, same as the bus montage did for Sana in Skam.
I’m not sure how to feel about Sam thinking cunnilingus is boring. Is she sure she’s having it done right? I thought Abdi had a longer than average tongue.
And thanks to Michi, I discovered that this was a reference to Skam, which I didn’t even know because I still had the gdrive subs for s2, where Chris says getting eaten out in Gran Canaria was fun, as opposed to the new subs, where she says it was boring as shit and she fell asleep.
I can’t remember whether Sana’s prayer app ever went off in front of the girl squad. When Skam España did it, the girls immediately freaked the fuck out at the thought of Amira praying right in the middle of a street party. In this case, Kiki looks at Amira for a second. Amira turns the app off though, so we never find out what the girls would’ve done if Amira were to pray right there. Or if it’s happened before. (I’ve been told by Michi this has happened before but the girls didn’t have a reaction then either.)
“Girls, why does it always have to be about boys with you guys?” GO OFF, AMIRA. I remember when I watched the season live, I became exhausted at all the boy talk, so it’ll be interesting to see if I still get this feeling watching the episodes.
In comparison to Vilde, Kiki is also a good sport about Amira wanting this topic to be over. I mean, she laughs a little (perhaps knowingly?), but Kiki is always up for changing the topic to something else about her… Like her and Carlos’ house hunting!
And also, Druck has sent Mia off to Spain to reassure viewers that this Noora won’t take over the season like other Nooras. (Ahem.)
For lack of something to talk about, Amira brings up boxing. Kiki is immediately interested, since she loves working out. Amira is really not into the idea of her brothers getting to know her friends, so she uses Hanna’s reticence to shoot Kiki down.
Her mood has been spoiled all in all, so she stays back to feel alienated as the girls splash around.
She does look cute as hell in her burkini and sunglasses though.
CLIP 2: Am I a bet? Am I a fucking bet?
I really like the blink and you’ll miss it shot of (I think is) the customized snow globe with the Nadia and Amira pic.
Some other stuff in Amira’s room: A polisci book, a list of lodgings in Sydney open on her browser, and what I’m pretty sure is a save the date card from Nadia and her fiancé. This is a very smart way to set up Amira’s character for people who might not have been paying a lot of attention to her so far. It’s always fun to get a peek at a Skams character’s bedroom for the first time.
Amira’s season came after Imane’s, and one thing I immediately liked more about Druck was that they spent time with the prayer scenes. I remember ONE (1) scene where Imane prayed in Skam France, and we only got to see the tail end of it.
I’m pretty sure the game the Mahmoodis play doesn’t actually exist, which probably has to do with having to pay royalties to show a real game. Interestingly(?), when I searched Dr. Whoo and Chopstick on google, it led me to Doctor Who pages, so I wonder if it’s all an elaborate Doctor Who reference on the part of someone in the Druck team.
In Skam, Sana misses the shot because the balloon squad are talking throughout the whole song, but Amira loses because Mohammed literally leans into her line of sight to make eye contact. In general, Mohammed is a lot more suave and savvier than Yousef ever was.
CLIP 3: This apartment is gonna kill somebody
And on a similar note but related to Amira, she is set up as someone the other girls rely on for advice. Kiki needs her help with the renter, while Sam asks her for romantic advice. I think the reason for this might be that while the girls didn’t exactly rely on Sana for advice in Skam, Sana was the one with the ideas since the start. Amira doesn’t necessarily take charge of situations the way Sana did, but there’s this notion that without Amira, the squad would fall apart.
The Berlin housing market = shantycore goals.
I also like the bit of subtle social commentary in Amira’s speech, about middle aged people helping young adults get started with life, so the latter can support the former when it comes to pensions, etc.
CLIP 4: Huh.
So even though Amira didn’t want the girls at the gym earlier, they are here now.
The day before, Amira posted a story on ig reminding the girls about the boxing class, with no indication that she ever tried to get them not to come.
Hanna gives a quick bit of exposition when she mentions Stefan is already working full time (and in a job that presumably requires a uni degree) while she just graduated high school. Which she finds weird.
As in Skam, Essam calls Amira ‘slave,’ which Kiki and Hanna notice. Amira quickly says it has to do with a bet, and the subject gets dropped.
When the season was airing, I thought for sure this wasn’t the end of it, and it would be brought up again, either through Kiki, Hanna, or possibly Stefan via Hanna. But no, this is really the end of that storyline.
My question is, why? What is the point of recreating this storyline from Skam (even going through the trouble of setting up a week during the hiatus between episodes 31 and 32, where Amira wins and Essam has to be the slave) if you’re just going to drop it in the same episode? It’s bad writing because we’re still in the stage of the season where storylines are being set up for later. It’s bad writing because Kiki and/or Hanna literally never bring up this bet/slave business again after devoting several clips and a bunch of social media to it. It’s like the writers didn’t really want to adapt this storyline from Skam, but they also didn’t have a ton of ideas for this week. Or maybe they were going to go somewhere with it, but then they changed their minds because it made some character look bad, but they forgot to take it out.
Like okay, fine, it wasn’t my favorite storyline in Skam either. It made Vilde look like an idiot at best, or a racist and a traitor at worst. But then why even have Kiki and Hanna overhear Essam? It’s not like they had to do it for adaptation reasons. Skam France didn’t.
It’s frustrating as fuck, and it won’t be the last time this season will pull this on the viewer.
Speaking of which, Sam thinks Mohammed is hot as hell (she ain’t wrong) and invites Essam, Omar and Mohammed to Jonas’ birthday party. This bothers Amira, because she doesn’t want her brothers to hang out with her friends. Even though she apparently just invited the girls to the boxing class that takes place at the gym her brothers attend.
[SIGH]
But anyway, Sam is being characterized as someone who is in charge of her sexuality (throughout the whole show, but specifically in this episode). While Amira is pining from a distance, getting flustered just from eye contact, Sam sees a hot guy and immediately creates an opportunity to see him again.
CLIP 5: Barbecue pining
There’s such a summer vibe about always finding reasons to hang out at a specific place because your friend got a summer job there.
I gotta give it to the writers. Essam is such a well-constructed younger sibling character. He’s a brat exactly in the way younger siblings are, and yet… That’s also the reason he’s so endearing.
And, on that note, Omar gives off such dad vibes. Not even older brother vibes. Every time I see Omar I feel like he’s thinking, “ha-ha! These little brats are acting out because they’re going through a lot! We just have to understand them!”
The conversation Amira and Mohammed have around the barbecue is so dumb, but you gotta love how pleased Amira is that she has Mohammed’s attention. Though she’s also unused to liking having a guy’s attention.
David and Matteo are back, and they’re still adorable! Good for them.
The way you could describe this moment as, Amira literally turned around for a moment and Sam was already touching Mohammed’s hair, and have it be accurate, sums up what they’re going for here.
Social media
There was a lot of social media content to keep people fed in the hiatus between episode 31 and 32. David and Matteo backpacked through Europe, Mia left for Spain and Kiki made a video about it, Stefan was invited to a game night with the crew, Kiki and Carlos looked for an apartment, and as I mentioned earlier, Essam lost a bet to Amira and had to be her slave for a week. I think that’s about it!
Abdi suggests that he and Carlos give Jonas supplies to make a protest sign as a birthday present and I almost lost it.
I think the piece of social media that most pissed off Skam purists was a chat where Jonas assures Amira he’s already thought of buying halal meat (as well as vegetarian and vegan options) for his birthday, because apparently Druck wanted to show up Skam or something, but like… It’s not like this storyline went anywhere on Skam either, like at no point do the girls learn to order pizza Sana can eat. So what does it matter if Jonas is already aware that Muslims eat halal meat.
I love that Hanna went to boxing class once, posted a bunch of stories about it and then never attended again. What a mood.
And to close the week, Kiki texts Amira that Essam started following her on insta.
FINAL THOUGHTS
When the season was airing, I found these clips cute enough. But on rewatch, I didn’t care for this episode and the reason is that so much of it ended being irrelevant to the season. What this episode did well was setting up the Kiki/Amira friendship, setting Kiki and Carlos’ apartment and the boxing class as recurring settings for the season and some character details. Essam is a really solid character from the get go, and I like the details in Amira’s room. They could’ve left out just about everything else.

Lichen, dirt, roots, rainwater ☆
lichen 🌲 - what do you like to collect? I collect crystals actually :)
dirt 🍂 - do you take care of any plants? I do, I have a syngonium that I care for, three lavender bushes, and a few cactuses. I am getting some more cuttings soon so I’ll have some new plants <3 roots 🌱 - describe your favorite memory  I have a few. Funnily enough, even though we don’t speak anymore, (ugh family drama) most of my happy memories are of mucking around with my brother when I was a kid. Once our family went to a public pool in New Zealand, and they had a kids splash pool. I was only four I believe. Anyways, in the pool, they had these jigsaw-like blocks that were quite big and could be fit together to build things. My brother built me a tiny box with no lid, and then he put me in the box. I was trapped there lol. I had to get rescued by my mum and my brother got in trouble. I wasn’t crying or upset or anything, I was just stuck in a box and really confused lol. People were walking past the pool looking at this kid stuck in a box while her brother sat nearby laughing evily. And other times he would put glue on his hands and wait for it to dry. Then he would pull it off and show me, and then he would tell me he was pulling his skin off. I freaked out and told mum and she told my brother to stop scaring his sister. He walked off cackling.  We also used to go “camping” in our backyard, and we made a little fire and ate marshmallows. He also tried to teach me (a five-year-old) to ride a skateboard lol, and he tried to teach me how to climb trees. He had a cubby house up a tree, but I couldn't climb up there. I cried because I really wanted to go up, so he put me on his back and carried me up.  When we got to Australia, he bought me a Polly pocket with his allowance, and when I got staples stuck in my hand and no adults were around he pulled the staples out and put a band-aid on for me. I think he was around 11 at this time? Ah, sweet memories. :)
rainwater 🌧 - what’s your favorite sound?  I’ve never really thought about this actually. Maybe rain on a tin roof is pretty nice. Actually, because I live in Australia I really like thunderstorms in summer. The summer gets so hot that when we have thunderstorms I open all the doors and windows and let the wind fly through the house to cool it down. It’s like sweeeet swweeett relief.

On to the next
Greetings and Salutations!
I hope you are all enjoying the holidays and the Christmas cheer! This is the first time in my life we have been away from home this time of the year and it feels really strange - I miss it!!
The last time we posted we were in Danang, Vietnam. Where we spent a couple more days before heading on to Hoi An, just a 30 minute drive south down the coast. We were very lucky to have a great friend of ours, Allison, come visit us from Shanghai for a few days in Danang and Hoi An. Bryn and I first met Allison in Bali (which is also where Bryn and I met but you already probably know that). She was there teaching English as well and we became fast friends. Allison and I have actively stayed in touch and have met up in England, Nepal, and China prior to this trip in Vietnam. She’s been living in China for 3 years now but is planning on moving to the Danang/Hoi An area next year and the dates lined up for us to meet up and check it all out!
Hoi An was a really nice relaxing getaway. We stayed at a lovely bed and breakfast located on An Bang beach. It had been a couple of weeks since we had any really nice weather, nothing too inclement but for weeks it had been overcast - but the first couple of days in Hoi An we got lucky with a few awesome beach days and soaked up the sun. Our first night in Hoi An was unexpectedly wild. We went into town to explore some shops and get dinner and found out the Vietnam national soccer team was playing in the finals of the SEA games. We had noticed the build up throughout our trip as many people watched them make their way to the finals. We knew it was a big deal to the Vietnamese, but my goodness.. We took a lantern boat down the river that runs through town to the main drag of restaurants and bars where we found a place that had put up a sheet on the wall and was projecting the game. They ended up beating Indonesia 3-0 in a thrilling match. The aftermath was inanity, there were literal riots in the streets, the entire city seemed to be out in full force waving flags, chanting, singing, dancing and blowing horns. The streets were flooded  at a standstill with people and cars for hours and it took us nearly 3 hours before the roads were clear enough to get a taxi back to our hotel. The next evening we met up with a friend of my fathers from high school. He has lived in Vietnam for the last 3 years with his wife and their 3 year old daughter. The last time my father and he had seen each other was before I was born. He took us around to some cool local spots and told us about his life and what living in Asia as an expat is like. He was a really interesting person and we had a great time getting to hang out with a local! Their daughter was absolutely adorable and it was really fun to entertain her and make jokes while she shared lots of candy with us. :)
Our final day in Hoi An was spent relaxing at a spa. In Asia you can get various spa treatments/massages for ~10$ and seeing as we wouldn’t have that opportunity again for a while, we treated ourselves. I did a hot stone massage for the first time, it was really freaking hot, but awesome. Bryn got a coffee bean and honey body scrub and a manicure and Allison did some extravagant package deal. It was wonderful. The rest of the evening we just chilled out and played cards, got some dinner and drank wine from the local vineyard. The next morning we parted ways with Allison and flew to Saigon for the day. We had a a flight late that evening so we booked a cheap AirBnB with a pool and hung out in the sun and then went to see the new Jumanji movie before our flight. One last Bun Cha and bowl of Pho and we were saying goodbye to Vietnam.
Bryn and I are cheap flight aficionados, we have some know-how on working the system and typically find great deals wherever we go, but going ultra-budget can pose problems. At the start of our trip we flew on China Eastern, the budget Chinese airline. Our flight from the US to Thailand was just over 200$, short layovers, good seats, crazy deal! However, right before our flight they changed the flight schedules in China and we were unable to make our connection so we had to hang out in Shanghai for a couple of days. Luckily, our friend Allison lives there and she we got to hang out with her and explore the city. We will flashback and include a few photos from our Shanghai trip in this post as well. Well.. that was not to be the last of our flight debacles.. When we were searching for flights, the flights from Vietnam to New Zealand were pretty damn expensive - this is the high season for tourism in New Zealand as it is the beginning of their summer, and with the holidays and such flights in December were very out of our price range. Except for this one date, we were baffled why the flights on December 13th were less than half the price than all of all the other flights but we counted ourselves lucky and locked it in. A few days later I came to realize that December 13th fell on a Friday.. We definitely got a real Friday the 13th experience... We went to the airport ~3 hours early for our flight and as we got through the check in line they informed us that we did not have the proper clearance to get on our flight to New Zealand. Since we had started traveling, New Zealand just implemented a new regulation that you have to pre-register your automatic visa on arrival - it seems silly requiring people to apply for something they are guaranteed to get but nonetheless, we were in a bit of a pickle. We had an hour or so before the counter closed to work it out and there were a couple other folks in the same boat as us. The approval process is only supposed to take 20-30 minutes so we applied but our application didn’t go through properly and the counter was about to close. We cajoled the people in Vietnam to at least let us board the first leg of our flight to Australia and figure it out on our long-layover there - luckily we had been approved for Australian visas a couple weeks prior and that was an option otherwise we would’ve be SOL. We barely made that flight as we had to wait in an insanely long immigration line and sprint through the airport - they closed the doors as soon as we stepped inside. We were able to call the New Zealand immigration department from Australia and re-apply and get it all expedited. We got to New Zealand as planned, but with a whole lot of added stress and 3 months wasted on our year-long visas in Australia. Could’ve been a lot worse but it will be a long time before I fly on Friday the 13th again.
We have been in Auckland for 3 days now. Another friend of ours from Bali, Arnaud, has a downtown apartment in the city that was between tenants so we’ve been staying in a lovely 22nd story apartment in the heart of the city. The first morning we were here we headed across town to the weekly used car fair to begin our search for a van - which will be our means of room and transportation throughout our 3 months in New Zealand. At first we were a bit overwhelmed and disheartened - the vans on display were either way out of our price range, way too small for me to lay down comfortably, or most predominantly, being sold by a shady used-car salesman that clearly was just trying to do a quick flip. We left the fair to go get a lovely gas-station breakfast and decided to go back and give it one last lap before the day was out. In the far back corner, clearly having arrived late was an older guy from Vermont who charmed us with his stories of living out of the van in New Zealand and living on sailboats in New England. The van was a bit out of our price range but he was trying to get out of the city for the holidays quickly and after some relatively easy negotiating we got the price down in to our ballpark. We got it tested by a mechanic yesterday and he’s currently doing a small fix on a radiator tube, but if all goes well with that we will go to the post office tomorrow with a scary amount of cash in our pockets and buy our first car!!
Today and tomorrow we are going to get prepared to head out on the road! We are starting by heading North of Auckland up to Cape Reinga. While I may be missing the Christmas season and cheer a bit, I live an incredibly exciting life and am super stoked and grateful to start out on this advanture. ;)
Hope all is well in your lives wherever you may be <3

End Up Here Part 1 (5SOS)
Tumblr media
fandom: 5 Seconds of Summer
pairing[s]: Ashton Irwin x Harlow Nicks
warnings: rude men, talk of porn, so. many. celebrities.
word count: 1.3k+
"Are we going to the show tonight?"
"I don't know Len. We have school in the morning and-"
"Yeah, yeah, I know. This is backstage though, Har. And Alex and the guys are supposed to be there."
"And that means I have to go why? You can go yourself."
"Rule 12. I need my sober sister." I looked over at my blue-haired best friend and rolled my eyes.
Years ago, around the age of 11 we, best friends since the age of two, decided to invent our own best friend code. The code, spanning 30 rules and more than 50 subclauses, covered everything from dating to drinking to even a very weird Rumpelstiltskin-esque one. Lennon wasted no time enacting Rule 12- one best friend must stay sober at all times so the other can get home safely- after we added it to the code when we were 15.
I tugged a hand through my dark brown hair as I let out a groan. Out of all of the rules in the code, Lennon always reminded me of 12 and 8- family members are off limits. She was born in Australia and raised in California by her father after her parents divorced, her older brother staying behind with her mom. When we were 12, her brother came to visit, and after a few years of spending the summer here, he decided to move out here full time with his bandmates. And that's who's show Lennon was trying to drag me to.
"I hate you." I groaned, rolling off her bed and heading towards the door.
"Where are you going?"
"To go get ready for this show. I don't want to wear my uniform there." I gestured to our ugly school clothes that I was wearing, making her laugh.
"You know guys like girls in schoolgirl uniforms? There's an entire category about it on por-" She started, but I slipped out of the door before she could finish. I turned to walk away but instead bumped into a solid mass being knocked back a few steps. I looked up, finding the smiling face of Ashton, Lennon's older brother.
There was no denying that he was hot. It was like saying gravity wasn't real. Sure, I had a crush on him for a while, but rule 8 was written into code so I forced the feelings away. Well, I tried. It hadn't really worked.
"What's the rush, Low?" Ashton smirked, his dimples showing. He and my father were the only ones who called me Low, and he knew I didn't like hearing it after my dad passed away the summer I turned 13.
"Your sister started talking about porn so I figured that was my cue to leave."
"Her schoolgirl porn thing again?" He asked, his accent making porn sound even more sexual than it already was.
"How'd you know?"
"She had the same conversation with Alex the other day." He chuckled, shaking his head.
"I don't know how they're in a relationship." I giggled, watching as his dimples became more prominent as he smiled.
"It's the schoolgirl thing-"
"I'm going now," I shook my head, trying to move past him.
"Har," He grabbed my arm, preventing to get more than a foot away from him, "Are you coming to the show tonight?"
"Yeah." I rolled my eyes. "Rule 12." I looked at the boy, whose smile faltered but he nodded.
"Right."
"I have to go. I need to get ready."
"Why?" His smile returned. "I like the schoolgirl look, too." My cheeks heated up and I turned away from him before he could see.
"Bye Ashton."
"Bye Low."
-
Later that evening, I was standing side stage watching the crowd grow inside the Riff, getting ready to see Ashton and his band, 5 Seconds of Summer. Lennon was already off at the bar with her boyfriend, a friend of her brother's by the name of Alex, drinking their first of presumably many drinks as they waited for the show to start. The lights went dim, and I squinted, watching the four guys file onto stage and pick up their instruments. For a few songs, I just stood there and watched, mesmerized by their talent, before deciding to head towards the bar to grab a drink
"Water-" I announced loudly to the bartender who nodded in response.
"Make it a tequila and add it to my tab." A male voice came from behind me. I turned slightly to catch a glimpse of the man, who in the dim lighting looked to be in his mid-20s.
"A water is fine, thank you." I turned back to the bartender, who hurried off to get the drink before the order could be changed again.
"C'mon babe, let loose. Have a drink with me." The man, who was slurring his words slightly, said as he placed his hand on the small of my back.
"No, I'm good." I tried to shove the man's hand away, but he was far stronger than I was.
"Babe-"
"Don't babe me." I shoved the man, whose drunken smile had turned into a scowl.
"Listen you bitch-" He grabbed me by the waist, pulling me into him.
"Get off of me!" I shouted as loudly as I could. The drums cut out on the stage, followed by the other instruments and static.
"Get off of her!" Ashton's voice came booming through the speaker. The man pulled me into him as I continued to fight. "I can see you from the stage. Knock it off. Let the girl go." By that time, the man was being off of me by Jack, the owner of the bar and one of my close friends.
"Harlow, get backstage now." He demanded.
With that, I made my way backstage to where most of the band and a few other friends were standing, Ashton, Lennon, and Alex being the only ones not in sight.
"Where's Len? I want to go home." I spit out anxiously, rubbing my arm as I looked around.
"She left with Alex half an hour ago." One of the guys, Rian, answered with a sad smile.
"Oh great. That's just great. We took her car here. Fuck." I muttered, taking a deep breath to keep from freaking out. "I'll just call my mom-" I reached into my bag, pulling out my phone, only to see that it was dead. "Are you fucking serious? Damnit." An arm wrapped around my shoulder, making me flinch as I looked over to see who it was
"Har, it's okay. It's just me." Jack smiled. To the people that knew him, he always seemed like a jokester, never really serious, but with me it was different. We had a strong connection. He was very protective of me, like an older brother would be and I was closer to him than anyone else- besides Lennon, of course. "I can take you home after I close up, if you don't mind waiting around for a while." He gave my shoulder a comforting squeeze, making me grimace.
"I think I just want to go home, Jay," I told him.
"I can take you home." A voice I knew to be Ashton's said. I turned to look at him, seeing his knuckles red with blood.
"You still have the rest of your set to do."
"We were in our last song when everything happened. Besides, I can't really play like this," He wiped his hands on his pants.
"What did you do?"
"Don't worry about it. Let's just get you home."

Genre: Love, all the love, all the fluff. Long distance!au
Warnings: none, don’t even think there’s a curse word in there
Summary: Being in a long distance relationship is hard, when Felix finally visits you in California before college all you want to do is the most™️
Masterlist
Tumblr media
“Felix put your window up!” Y/n choked, the air that suddenly whipped through the car made her ears pop and she was glad she was a good driver or else they’d be in a completely different predicament. Felix didn’t hear her, he was too busy yelling out the window, the turns on the freeway ramp making him feel a way he wasn’t used to. Maybe it was because he was out in a foreign country with a girl he loved and never wanted to leave, his jet lag had worn off and now all she wanted to do was take him to her favorite places.
“I got that summertim-“ y/n pulled him back into the car before he could yell his lungs out, his voice already hoarse from the last thirty seconds. He didn’t want to stop, he was actually really happy for once. He turned to pout at y/n but stopped when he saw the red blush on her cheeks, mischievous boyfriend mode activated when he saw this, his hands immediately going to tickle her sides.
“Felix!” Y/n screeched, one hand tightening on the steering wheel while she used to other one to smack him across the shoulder, “I’m driving! Do you want to die?”
Felix laughed, pretending like that didn’t hurt but knowing he deserved it, “You’re so aggressive. Have I not given you enough love? Do you need more?” He teased, making pouty lips while y/n tried to ignore him. It was hard enough driving with Felix around to distract her, the sun in her eyes and the nervousness that came with not knowing if Felix would like anything she had to show him.
Y/n sighed, giving into her boyfriend and leaning over to kiss him quickly, her heart rate accelerating slightly but calming down once her eyes got back on the road and she realized they were safe and close to their exit. She sincerely hated driving around in downtown, but there was one place she was trying to get to before traffic hit on the way back home, and Felix was genuinely interested.
“Wait stand here so I can take a photo” y/n said, posing Felix with the buildings behind him while he held the black ice cream in front of his face. He did a peace sign, smiling for the photo before pulling y/n close.
“Will this turn my mouth black?” He asked, his arm tightly around y/n’s shoulder as she shrugged. She actually didn’t know, mostly because she’d been waiting since the place opened to go with Felix, she had been waiting a really long time so she just dove right in. It didn’t really matter if her mouth turned black, Felix wouldn’t care since they’d both look like idiots anyways.
“Anything?” Y/n asked, sticking her tongue out as Felix’s face turned red from holding in his laughter.
“Oh my...your entire mouth is black” Felix laughed, laughing so hard he bent over, his stomach already hurting. Y/n couldn’t help but laugh along with him, laughing even harder when Felix’s ice cream made an escape and flopped out of the cone, “Ah! Why?”
It was, y/n’s turn to laugh, taking a more practical approach and tilting her head back to laugh at her pouting boyfriend. Felix watched her with butterflies in his stomach, his face reddening at the stupid overwhelming amount of love coursing through him. Y/n and Felix met on an exchange program her first year of high school, they went to the same school for a year before she moved back and he almost died without her. Luckily she came back, some of her family lived in Australia and were getting married and he was invited to the wedding as her plus one. Naturally, they were inseparable by nothing but distance and he’d spent years waiting to just come back to her.
It was a bit scary, the plane ride to a foreign country and not knowing where the hell he was, but if y/n could do it then he’d be strong and do it for her too. Y/n noticed Felix was deep in thought, she slipped her hand into his while she drove, he finally broke out of it and grabbed the little box on her dashboard.
“What’s this?” He asked, flicking the buttons on the fast track transponder while y/n rolled her eyes. Luckily she didn’t need to use it right now or else she’d be freaking out about him moving the buttons.
“That’s so I can drive in the fast lane while the peasants drive in the slow lane. What do you wanna do next? Maybe check out the mall?” She asked, knowing he’d love to see the mall by her house. It was undoubtedly huge, had every expensive store he could think of, after that she would buy him in n out and take him to the beach, she just wanted to spoil him honestly.
Y/n wasn’t quite sure if Felix loved her as much as she loved him, but she was glad he was here. Sometimes their relationship seemed like it wouldn’t work out, truthfully they didn’t talk as much as they liked to and sometimes it was too hard to just keep going. The distance was terrible, being away from him for so long was terrible, and she got the sense it wasn’t going to change much even though they were older now. Now they both had university classes and Felix was going to be moving to Seoul of all places for school.
It was true teenage angst, everything that came with young love. But how were they supposed to be so sure that the way they were feeling was different, that this time around it was actual love that would last? Y/n sincerely hoped so, and Felix, well he knew.
“Let’s go in here” Felix said, tugging on y/n’s hand as he pointed to the bright and colorful makeup store, a store that y/n wasn’t unfamiliar with since she’d worked at Sephora for about six months during her last year in high school. Felix knew this, he knew she really liked makeup and even if she didn’t always wear it he knew she’d enjoy coming in here to browse. He had money saved from his summer jobs, he wanted to buy her something for once, y/n had spoiled him to no end and he’d only been here for three days.
“Do you have any of this? It would look so pretty on you” Felix said, holding up a highlight compact and putting some on Y/n’s face as she tried not to squeal.
“How do you know what highlight is? Have you been doing research?” She teased, making Felix blush as he rolled his eyes at her. He tugged her along, picking up things as he went before stopping in front of the lipsticks. Y/n watched him as he examined the lipsticks, realizing he kind of knew what he was doing, she was awfully proud of him. Felix certainly surprised her in everything he did, he was very smart and caring, talented and driven, her parents adored the hell out of him and it was a bit scary how much freedom they were allowed. I mean of course, they were two adults now, but they let them share a room and neither of them knew if that was a thing. Do parents just...let you do that?
Felix held up a lipstick, using a tester to get product and he looked excited to see that y/n was actually eager about the lipstick he chose. A pretty peachy color, something that would dry matte and soft, Felix knew it would make him want to kiss her if she wore it. But he always wanted to kiss her, maybe because he couldn’t do it regularly and y/n was a girl who deserved to be kissed regularly. She supported his every goal, was always there for him, even when she had something bothering her she was always there for him.
“If I mess up I’m going to blame your staring” Felix muttered, his hand shaking as he held the tester up to y/n’s lips. She averted her eyes in an instant, not realizing she’d been staring at his freckles like an idiot. She closed her eyes, waiting to get lipstick smeared all over her lips and knowing she’d probably have to fix it. At least it wasn’t a color that would stain.
“Oh” y/n mumbled, feeling Felix’s lips against hers instead of lipstick, her hand that was holding her bag going limp and all her items clattering to the floor. When Felix pulled away he was blushing, clearing his throat, he picked up all of her things before disappearing into the next makeup aisle.
Y/n swallowed hard, her face hot and her head full, she certainly wasn’t expecting that and wasn’t sure if she would EVER get used to kissing him. It was just something she never got to do, and you’d think they’d do it a lot more often but Felix still made her so nervous. Felix was her first real love, the intense and magnetic pull she’d felt towards him the first time they met was still present and unwavering even to this day.
“You can’t buy me that” y/n whined, her arms around Felix’s waist as he drug her to the checkout counter. A very nice eyeshadow palette in hand, the peachy lipstick to go with it, it wasn’t THAT expensive. The palette was on sale, the lipstick wasn’t even over $15, he was expecting to spend more money here than he actually was.
“Shh, you’ll just have to pay me back,” Felix said quietly, leaning his head on top of hers while she buried her face in his chest wondering how, “with cuddles”
“I can do that” y/n said, her voice muffled and blush hidden by the fabric of his shirt. She wanted to cry, her heart felt so full it was gross, she’d spent the last two days as the big spoon while Felix recovered from grossly intense jet lag. It almost made him not want to go home, well okay that was a lie, he’d use the jet lag as an excuse and y/n as the reason.
The day passed by, it was close to sunset now and Felix was more than happy to have a bag of in-n-out on his lap while y/n made a mad dash to the beach. It was only a ten minute drive, nothing serious, they’d make it in time. Felix insisted on paying for parking, it was expensive and stupid but it got them a good spot while y/n struggled to navigate the dense sands of Huntington Beach. Now she didn’t really enjoy the beach for the sand, she hated the sand, she hated how it stuck to you and got everywhere. She hated finding sand in her eyelashes in the morning, in her hair, in her shoes. But she loved the ocean, so powerful and calming, she could stare at it for hours. Having Felix around just made it even better.
“Hurry and eat before it gets cold” y/n scolded, sounding much like Felix’s mother when she noticed he was staring at her. He wished she’d gotten something to eat, but he assumed living in California you just got used to eating in-n-out, y/n was kinda tired of it. She just ate her fries while they shared a lemonade, the sounds of the waves crashing into the shore making them both a bit sleepy.
“I had a really really good day. I don’t ever want to leave” Felix sighed, his lips rolling against each other as he glanced down at y/n who was leaning against his chest. He flicked her head, knowing she was falling asleep and she made a funny noise.
“Ass”
“I said something cute” he muttered, feeling embarrassed about the fact that she hadn’t responded because she was falling asleep. His cute words were wasted on the salty air.
“I heard and I’m crying, it just sucks being so far from you” y/n confessed, her chest tightening and her face red while Felix realized she actually was crying. Nothing he wasn’t used to, their relationship was hard and oftentimes they both ended up crying after or during a call. Now he was here to comfort her, something he didn’t normally have the luxury of doing.
“Ah, it’s okay, it’s not going to be like this forever. Aren’t you planning on going to school in Japan? We’ll be so close to each other, the plane rides will be shorter, we could see each other more often. I won’t be halfway across the world and we could do this all the time” Felix mumbled into her hair, holding her tightly as she listened to and held onto every word he said.
“I didn’t get in” y/n whispered, the stupid hot tears didn’t stop as Felix reached up to cradle her face. He stared at the water, taking a deep breath for the both of them before tilting her face up.
“Listen panini head, nothing’s going to keep us apart okay? Not a stupid admissions office in Japan, not an ocean, not some time difference or a dumb argument when we’re both tired and stressed out. There’s a million other universities all over the world that want you, can I go out on a limb here and suggest the University of Sydney?” Felix laughed, wiping his face as y/n stared at the boy she loved and knew he was right. I mean, they’d made it this far over the course of four years, what could possibly go wrong?
“I love you...panini head” y/n grumbled, glaring at him as he grabbed onto her hand and linked their pinky fingers.
“Promise you’ll love me forever and I’ll do the same. Forever”
“Forever. Bet”

Some guys they date
Some guys they date are actually really understanding of their profession. While odds are that she has exes who weren't totally cool with it, she says she's dated men who have been "incredibly supportive and understanding" once she was honest about what was happening. "I explained, 'No one is touching me. I set my boundaries. I will never meet these people. I don't know their names, where they live, or what they look like. I do only what I want, when I want, how I want to, at the touch of my own hand. I end anything if I feel weird.'" Once they had that chat, she says it wasn't an issue, which is awesome. The first time I went ‘private’ with a guy I freaked the fuck out. All he wrote was ‘get naked’. And so far all I’d done in a chat room was flash my boobs for an influx of tokens. I froze up in stage fright and closed the room. In my group chat I wrote: Sorry, cam froze.” And I logged off for the night. For my first show I applied some makeup, did my hair and put on a deep v-neck leotard. It was the middle of summer and boiling hot even in just that. I sat on my bed, placed my webcam facing toward me and sat doodling in my sketchpad, waiting for patrons.I had the opportunity to watch her cam, and I realized that she has a persona when she’s camming—in the same way that a lot of media people do. It’s not like she’s drastically different, but there’s a version of herself that she shares with people while shes at work in the same way that an actress would go on a talk show and be the sweeter, funnier, more engaged version of herself. She puts on a show, and gives her best, sexiest performance, reading what the client wants, asking questions, and taking directions. All the while, she’s sort of straddling the line between sexual partner, therapist, and moral supporter. It’s a ton of emotional labor—like any type of sex work. I think we often forget that being a sex worker is essentially working in the service industry.
I have considered opening up my profile again a few times since, and very well might once I get over the ‘what will people think?’ paranoia, and memorise the retort I have planned regarding the government youth unemployment in Australia: With youth unemployment currently sitting around 13%, creating your own job using the resources you already have (in this case, internet connection, webcam, studio lighting and cute knickers) becomes a much more viable option than waiting for callbacks from the 20 resumes you sent out last week. That said, the idea of my future prospects of employability could be damaged if this was discovered, and I do wonder about the percentage of money the site makes versus the percentages the models make.I met Anna because she flatly offered to talk to me — clothed or unclothed — in exchange for money. She's Romanian, a model from a region with a reputation for sordid conditions and rapacious studio owners. If there were a dark side to the industry, she'd at least be nestled closest to it. But when her camera first flipped on for me, I didn't see the stained walls of a prostitute's den. Instead: a bright, modern apartment inhabited by a bright, modern girl. In her pink underwear. Anna embodies almost every delightful stereotype an American brain can hold over a young girl from Romania. At 24, she's clever — even cunning — sarcastically flirtatious in a way that makes you want to check your back pocket, and possesses stunning slavic beauty. She's got camming down to a science. "It's all about saying to people they are sweet," she smiles. All a man needs is attention, when he wants it, and he'll be Anna's until the tokens run dry. Regulars will sit in her room for hours, pouring money away — these are the lonely ones, Anna says. "They want to hear that they're loved... that they're sweet... that they're kind... that's how you keep them coming back." It might sound mercenary, but these guys are getting exactly what they're paying for. Only a man in the deepest bog of delusion truly believes the cam love is real — if you're spending hundreds of dollars for a companion on your computer monitor, you have to be willing to suspend disbelief. Plenty are willing — particularly Americans, who for whatever reasons (Anna chalks it up to a sort of cultural shamelessness), are more "generous" than Europeans, and more likely to buy into the act — and pay for the privilege of watching something interactive. One thing that I admittedly don’t have control over, proven by the phone conversation that spurred me to write this piece, is the judgment that others will cast on my when they know that I do for money. Even those who know that as well as dancing, I am a student and hold a day job in retail. It’s a shame that women are continuously told not to express themselves for fear of judgment and labeling. Why are we told that there are ‘good girls’ and there are whores? In my life, I want to embrace every aspect that comes with being a woman. I want to be sexy and intelligent. I want to be passionate and headstrong but I want others to know that I feel too.
"I was alone in the room, and it felt like there were hundreds of people around me. And I couldn't keep up with what they were all saying, and what they were asking of me. It was quite shocking.
