Soo this a little self indulgent so if you don't feel comfortable to write it don't feel pressured, but maybe how Kimi would help reader who has like really bad sunburn. Like I think he would help him put alovora oli and moisturiser on. ( I washed my parents cars today and forgot for a second how hot it is in Australia especially where I live and ended up with horrible sunburn)
đȘ
đȘ aussie sunburns are no joke one time i forgot to put sunscreen on for 2 hours max and my skin was bright red and peeling for a whole week. stay safe fellow aussies and don't get cooked <3
kimi would be scolding you so much you think he's channeling every nonna to ever exist. he's sympathetic, of course, and he's absolutely slathering you in aloe vera and moisturiser. that doesn't mean he's not gonna make sure how silly it was.
probably initially thinks that you were out for a superrrrrr long time for no good reason. he has yet to learn the terrors of an australian summer. the seatbelts. the hand rails. the sand. the pavement. the ... well, everything, really. then he finds out you were doing something nice for your parents and you weren't really out for all that long. you'd probably been living together in europe for a while, you definitely started slacking on your sun safety. it's still important there, but you have a lot more leeway.
anyway, kimi's very gentle with your burn. not so much your feelings. he'll apologise after you're all healed up, but in the moment he's just very stressed. he doesn't like seeing you in pain and the way you were wincing was not good for his blood pressure. he definitely researched how much sun exposure it took to get radiation poisoning or something. he's freaking out. kiss him and tell him you're fine, and he'll calm down a little. he's still scolding you and treating you like you're made of glass until there's no sign of the burn anymore (except maybe a new patch of freckles if you get them)

Can I get drabble for IH đ„ș
I remember you wrote a drabble for IH where Reader enjoys cuddling with Andy in summer because he is cold and the weather is hot.
Well, now the winter has come (also, wow -33°C - that VERY COLD) and it is Curtis' turn to enjoy some cuddling with his mate because he is so freaking warm. Andy is sad, but he can always light the fireplace and cuddle Reader in front of it - perfect amount of heat and icy.
Curtis brushed his hand down your back and up again as he looked from you to Andy, watching his forced pack member sitting near the fireplace with a book in his hand. Winter had set in early, nearly three weeks early and it hit with a vengeance, blistering snow and sharp winds that blasted the area with inescapable chill.
It was too cold for you to attach yourself to Andy, now you clung to Curtis. Your werewolf boyfriend and mate had a near constant hold on you to warm you up, the contact boastful for him and irritating to Andy. It wasnât that the vampire couldnât have joined in on the glorious moments of your affectionate need, but someone needed to stock the fire and do errands.
âWait until summer, mutt.â Andy flipped the page and flipped Curtis off, meeting his pride with a scowl. âYou may be warm now-â
âWinter months are longer, leech.â
âHow did you feel about Australia, sweetheart?â
Their questions were met with silence, the soft sounds of your breathing making both men grow silent. Andy had returned to his book and Curtis had resumed rubbing your back.
Both content to feel and see you sleep.

Do you think Z and JE were a serious relationship? Iâve seen some people diminish it into just a fling but she went to Australia multiple times to meet his family, did PDA with him when she hadnât ever with a s/o before, traveled with him, even made a speech for him thatâs honestly gone far beyond what sheâs ever said in public about Tom. That all points to serious for me. However the way they broke up after he went home and they could barely last a few months in a long distance relationship makes it seem like it was more casual. Wonder what your thoughts are
It was 100% a rebound. She only started something with him AFTER the O pics, after she camped out with her fam and friends at her home for a week and declared in her IG stories after intentionally playing Spider-Man game that she will make that summer her hot girl summer. If that doesnât tell you how she emotionally and impulsively jumped into a rs too quickly as a rebound, I donât know what to tell ya.
As for speech, it is a freaking speech. Last I checked she never had to give a speech about Tom, so you canât compare shit. Have you not heard Oscar or Emmy speeches? Everyone acts like the person they are talking about or honoring gave birth to them or made them the person they are or are the best thing since sliced bread or split the atom or some shit. That is Hollywood for you with great exaggerations. All she said was it was an honor to be a part of his life. Cheesy and cliche. I literally heard that line many times in speeches, so donât make a bigger deal out of it than what it is⊠Please. đ
She didnât go to Australia âmultiple timesâ. đđ One time was purely for work to shoot for a couple of Australian magazines, attend an event etc . She went there only ONCE for him. She did PDA after the public T/O pics (which also were lowkey PDA with ass grabbing and hand holding) , and I called it right there and then it was a petty way to get back at T for the public O pics , like âoh you wanna see public pics? Watch thisâ but then she quickly seemed to regret it for a moment as it was out of her comfort zone at the time thus asked fans to delete the pics.
Neither T nor Z completely moved on from each other mentally when they jumped into the next whatever things.
Also your ask and your intention behind it is fishy as hell ,but I bit because I am bored.

Idea: on the 13th of every month, we share stories of our dumbassery and other things. Specifically from when we where a child.
I'll go first.
When I was 2, I wanted to hold my newborn baby sister. I dropped her on her head and called her heavy before walking away.
Also when I was 2, I chopped all my hair off by myself.
We used to have really aggressive chickens. We had ten, it was like the Mafia, how you've got the really high up bosses, and then there's the "soldiers"
These chickens had sharp as fuck beaks. I have some cousins who live in a town that is in central north of my state which is a really hot place to live, so they used to come down her every summer in Australia.
I had a rule. If the chickens where out, I stayed in. One day, my kite was outside, and one of my said cousins, who was like, 14 at the time, and I was maybe 4-6 years old? Was gonna take all us kids to the park, and I wanted to fly my kite. But the chickens were out. We'll call him L. L asked me why I was just standing at the backdoor looking longingly out, and I explained my dilemma to him. So he decides to carry me to my kite so I can grab it and we can go. But as we are walking, one of these little shits of a chicken jumps up and attacks his cheek. He starts bleeding, it's not that bad but it freaked him out so much, he dropped me onto the ground where I was surounded, as if tho in a pit, of these chickens. Luckily his mum was watch from our laundry which had a door to our back yard and she came running out with a broom to beat the chickens off with.
When I was four, I was bitten by a snake.
When I was 3, my uncle full on yeeted me across the room, later telling my grandfather he wanted me to hit the wall. we don't talk to him anymore, and all my family members have agreed that it is an unwritten rule to not invite him to Christmas.
6-7 months after being bitten by the snake, my aunty took me and 2 of my sisters, lets call them G and A. G is older than me by five years, A is younger than me by 3. ( She was born a month before my birthday.) To a petting zoo with a snake inclosure. My gran (we were staying with her) gave G $10 to buy us an ice-cream each and these little bags of chickens seed the place sold so you could feed the chickens. (Thankfully, not agressive ones.) There was a cafe platform thingo that my aunty was sitting at which was maybe 100 m away from us. (109 yards for Americans or people who don't use the metric system.)
There was an artificial lake that they dried up during droughts. This was during a very bad drought. The chickens are near this dried up lake, so little 5 y/o me is just thinking, in my tiny brain "what if a chicken fell in there? They must be hungry!" And this lake is lined with rocks, so I go stand on one and to my horror, and I mean, any adult seeing this would be thinking 'holy shit, I am literally within an inch of death, holy fuck.'
There is a red belly black snake. They are some of the most poisonous snakes in Australia. In fact, quick little Google will tell you it's in the TOP TEN LIST OF MOST DANGEROUS SNAKES IN AUSTRALIA.
One of my uncles is a professional snake catcher, and told us how to react if a snake is near us, and thank fuck that didn't leave my brain. Snakes don't have very good eyesight, apparently? That's just according to him, don't @ me. So he told us to stay very still.
I do this, and in doing so, terrify my sister, G. So she starts calling my name from the time, which was Emma, and is trying to get me to go back to her. I start walking back as slowly as possible after a few minutes and tell her there is a snake there, it's looking at me, and it's black with a red stomache. She's all like 'fuck you, no there's not.' so I tell her "go see for yourself then!" So she does and has the same reaction as me. Meanwhile, I'm trying to hold back A, who loves snakes, and doesn't realise how bad it could be if she sees it.
G comes back and decides what to do next. which is go to my aunty who was watching us but couldn't see the snake. We tell my au Ty, she tells the cashier. The cashier explains that he's not qualified to take care of it, but his manager is. So he gets his manager, who comes out with a rubber sack and a grabby thing, and the manager gets G to show him where the snake is. After 45 mins if searching, they come back and say to my aunty "I have 2 things to tell you. One, we couldn't find the snake, and 2, we don't own that type of snake."
He spent 6 months searching for it before finding it in the rabbit inclosure.
Between the ages of 1-6, I had a licking batteries phase. I would claim they tasted good. Better yet, I did it facing a wall in our hallway with the lights off.
When I was seven, I really liked playing outside. One day, it was raining, so I couldn't go outside. So I waited patiently inside. My mum had the front door open, but the flyscreen shut, because I liked watching the rain hit the ground.
I had grabbed something to eat, but noticed the rain had stopped. So I started running for the outside world. And no one warned me. They all thought I was gonna stop and open it. They thought I could see it. (This story should've been a dead giveaway that I have shitty eyesight in hindsight.)
I ran straight through the flyscreen door, and went splat face first on the concrete.
Let this post be a warning I'm pretty fucking stupid.

âThank you so much for the food, Mrs. Bang!â Tori smiled at the woman as she piled more food onto her plate.
âYou guys deserved a nice meal, youâre working so hard.â Chanâs mother smiled. âAnd take some more of the ribs.â
Tori shook her head. Her plate was already covered in food, and it was seconds. âIâm technically supposed to be on a diet for the tour, but Iâm cheating a little.â
She dropped two ribs on the plate anyways. âYou can cheat a little bit more.â
Tori grinned. âWell I canât argue with that.â
She hurried back to the table. The Australian weather agreed with her, and she was taking full advantage of her summer wardrobe. Though, she had to admit, the shorts and crop top were starting to get a bit chilly as the night settled in. Sheâd stolen Hyunjinâs flannel to keep out some of the chill.
She plopped herself down next to Jeongin, who had already demolished half of his second plate.
âEnjoying yourself?â She teased.
âSo much!â He said with his mouth full. âThe meat is so good.â
âI know, right?â Tori laughed, taking a bite of her ssam. âItâs so nice to have real food again.â
âI should get more.â He looked over to the food table. âAw...thereâs no more ribs.â
âTake mine, Jeonginnie.â She moved the two ribs to his plate, licking the sauce off of her fingers.
âBut there yours.â He protested, but looked like he was seriously considering eating them.
Tori gestured to her plate. âI still have lots of food, and Iâm starting to get full anyways.â
âTHANKS!â He grabbed the first rip without hesitation. âYou sure you donât want the other one?â
âNah, Iâm already getting pudgy off of one meal.â She laughed.
Jeongin rolled his eyes, but still poked her stomach. âPudge, pudge.â
Tori snorted. âEat up, we have a busy day tomorrow.â
After dinner, they were all lounging around and struggling to accept the massive meal theyâd just eaten. Tori decided to take the opportunity to go and get a glass of water. She wandered into the house, wiping her bare feet off on the mat. The kitchen was just down the hall, so she headed towards it.
âI donât know what you want me to do!â
Chanâs voice carried from the kitchen, sounding a bit heated.
Tori, being a rational and well-adjusted adult, immediately hid around the corner.
âWhat do you mean you donât know?â It was his mom, and Tori instantly sunk lower. Debating if she should sneak back out, she decided against it. If they saw her sneaking away, theyâd know sheâd been listening. And she didnât want to be involved in any family drama.
âYouâre the leader, Christopher, youâre supposed to look after your team!â
âMOM, it was two ribs!â Chan insisted. âShe had two plates why are you mad at me because she decided she wasnât hungry?â
Toriâs eyes widened. Maybe she was already involved in the family drama.
She heard a sigh, the type of sigh that instantly made her fear for Chan. âI told you that you had to be nice to her. Sheâs outnumbered and she told me sheâs on a diet. Why is she on a diet?â
âWeâre all on diets, Mom, we arenât strict about it.â He tried to explain.
âI heard her tell Jeongin that she thought she was pudgy. Are you making her insecure?â
âShe likes being pudgy.â Chan groaned. âShe says itâs better for cuddling and hiding snacks.â
There was a very long stretch of silence.Â
âChristopher.â His mother began. âMake sure she eats something.â
Tori heard footsteps and squeezed herself against the wall as Chanâs mom walked past. She heard rustling in the fridge, and then Chan stormed past.
She peeked into the kitchen, hurrying to get her glass of water before going back outside. Chanâs mom was preoccupied packing up all of the food, and Chan was nowhere to be seen.
âThere you are.âÂ
She jinxed it.
âHey.â She turned with an awkward smile. âFancy meeting you here.â
He seemed blind to her awkwardness, and just plopped down on one of the picnic benches. She sat down next to him, taking a tentative sip of water.
âSomething bothering you?â She asked, unsuccessful in her goal to sound nonchalant.Â
âUrgh,â He reached into his hoodie pocket and pulled something out, extending it to her.
She blinked. âA...dinner roll?â
âTechnically...â He pulled out another one. âTwo.â
Tori tilted her head. âChan, you live here. I donât think you need to hoard food.â
âItâs not for me.â He placed it on the table next to her. âEat.â
âIâm ahh...not hungry, but thanks.â She took another sip of water.
âNo choice.â
âBut I ate a ton at dinner.â She whined.
âWhat if I pull the leader card?â
Tori shook her head.
âWhat if I tell you that if you donât eat them Iâll be in a fight with my mom on one of the few times I get to see her?â He raised an eyebrow.
Tori sighed in defeat, grabbing one of the rolls of the table. âThereâs fluff on it from your sweater.â
He brushed it off with a finger. âThere you go.â
She took a bite, chewing on the bread. âIâm not supposed to eat carbs.â
âDonât care.â He leaned back against the table as she ate. âMy mom thinks Iâm starving you so I have to prove her wrong.â
âIf anything,â Tori squished the bread between her hands. âYou overfeed me. You bought me two hot dogs yesterday.â
âCan you please go tell my mom that?â He smiled. âShe was freaking out because you were giving food to Jeongin.â
âHeâs a growing boy.â She finished the first roll and reached for the second. âAnd I really couldnât eat another bite.â
âYou seem to be doing okay right now.â
âWell, yeah.â She filled her cheeks with bread. âBut I love bread.â
âYou love food.â Chan corrected with a laugh. âAnd youâd better be prepared for a late night snack because sheâs sending food back with us.â
âI was hoping we could get burgers.â She teased.Â
Chan shook his head. âPretty sure I have to send my mom a picture of you eating leftovers.â
âOhh, can I wear my koala pyjamas?â
âYou have koala pyjamas?â
âWe went to the Australia Zoo today, of course I bought Koala pyjamas.â She wiped the crumbs off her hands. âThey have a little hood with ears.â
âReally?â His eyes widened. âThen yes, you can wear your koala pyjamas.â
âSweet.â Tori chewed on her cheek for a second. âDo you think you could build a house out of bread?â
âWhat?â Chan looked very confused. âWeâre talking about how your diet is about to ruin my relationship with my mom and you want to know if you can make a house out of bread?â
âYeah.â Tori nodded. âNot gingerbread. Like squishy bread.â
âWhy would you want that?â
âBecause I could run around and bounce into the walls.â
Chan held a hand up and felt her forehead. âI think you have heatstroke.â
Tori sighed. âMy genius is too much for this group.â
Chan snorted. âSo our next album is going to feature a song about a bread house?â
âWatch me.â Tori winked. âAlso...I snooped through your fridge while your mom was giving a tour and I want one of those ice cream sandwiches.â
Chan gave her a cheeky grin. âThen letâs go.â

59.
survey by xkatyxconspiracy
Are you embarrassed/ashamed to burp/fart in front of your friends? Â Not embarrassed, but I wouldnât go out of my way to do it, either.Â
When you make a typo, do you leave it, or go back and fix it? Â I go back and fix it. Why would you not? lol.
Ever suffer from amnesia? Â No. My memory is pretty much the exact opposite of that, lol.
What instrument do you prefer to play when playing Rockband/Guitar Hero WT? Â I only ever played the guitar - we never had any of the other equipment to play the other instruments.
Have you ever picked out a song to listen to on a juke box? Â Yeah, I used to love doing that when I was younger.
While riding roller coasters, do you close your eyes? Â For some parts of them, yeah.
Have you learned anything important today? Â No, not really. Today has just been fairly normal, all things considered. I slept in, had a shower, had breakfast, did a bunch of housework and now Iâm doing this and watching TV with all the animals around me lol.
What's a talent that you wish you possessed? Â I wish I could sing in tune.
Do you ever find yourself singing showtunes while in the shower? Â Hahah, yep.
Have you ever eaten 3 meals from 3 different fast food places in one day? Â Yeah, thatâs definitely happened on days where Iâve been travelling non-stop, or on days where weâve just been out all day. Itâs not so common now but it does still happen at times.
When's the last time you were genuinely freaked out? Â I honestly donât remember.
Does anyone in your house own a gun? Â No. Guns are illegal in this country, thank God.
Do you assign different ringtones to certain people? Â No, thatâs just far too much hassle when nobody ever rings me, haha.
Favorite way to eat a potato? (i.e. french fries, mashed potatoes...) Â Fries or roasties, or hash browns.
Have you ever lived outside of the country that you currently reside in? Â Yeah, I lived abroad in France for a year as a student.
Have you ever ridden in a limo? Â Yes.
Have you ever thought that you were honestly going to die? Â Yes, on a flight to Australia when we got caught in some really horrendous turbulence. Rationally I knew it was okay but being hurled around in your seat when youâre 15,000ft in the air while lightning flashes all around you isnât the most pleasant experience in the world, lol.
What's the one thing you couldn't afford to leave behind on a vacation? Â Well, anything.
If a brick suddenly showed up in front of you, what would you do with it? Â Touch it?
Are there any song covers that you think are better than the original? Â Iâm sure there are some out there, yeah. I tend to prefer the version Iâve heard first, whichever that happens to me.
Does Christmas music played too far away from Christmas annoy you? Â Yeah, it makes it less special IMO.
Have you ever wished you could experience being the other gender? Â I mean, it would be pretty cool, sure.
Last thing you worried about? Toby being unwell, but luckily he seems absolutely fine now.
Are there in portraits/figurines in your house that you find creepy? Â No.
Sprite, 7up, Sierra Mist, or Mountain Dew? Â Uh, 7Up but Iâve never tried Sierra Mist before.
When was the last time you felt you were about to pass out from exhaustion? Â The week before I finished for Christmas - I was just so insanely busy it was absolutely ridiculous.
Other than no school, what's your favorite thing about summer? Â I work right through summer, but I love the weather and the feeling of freedom.
- Least favorite? Â The humidity and how hot and sticky you get just doing nothing.
If you could change your age, how old would you make yourself? Â Iâm actually quite happy with my current age.
How old were you when you learned to ride a bike? Â About four or five.
Have you ever cried in a movie theater? Â Yeah, at the Deathly Hallows part 2 - several times, lol. Oh, and also when Cedric Diggory died.
When's the last time you went out of state? Â I honestly donât remember - well before COVID.
Do you like hot sauce? If yes, what do you usually put it on? No - spicy foods make me vomit, unfortunately.
Have you ever had 'a day at the spa'? Â No, but the older I get, the more appealing that sounds.
Do you still have a VCR somewhere? Â No, we never had one to begin with, though.
You see someone running around naked in the street. Your reaction? Â I have no idea, it depends on a few other things too.
Are the files in your computer well organized or all over the place? Â Well-organised.
Is there wall paper on your bedroom walls? Â Nope, all the walls are painted.
Does yard work bore you, or do you enjoy it? Â It bores me and makes my back hurt at the same time, so I donât do it.
Do you own a sleeping bag? Â No, I donât think so.Â
Have you ever tried to put a huge puzzle together? Â 1000 pieces is the biggest Iâve ever done, but Iâve not done a jigsaw for years.
What do you put on your hamburger? Â Bacon, mushrooms and blue cheese.
When was the last time you met someone new? Â Hmm, last week when I met Helen for the first time! She was lovely and weâre planing to meet up again when sheâs next up here visiting her mum.
Whats the furthest distance youâve gone in the past 3 days? Â I havenât left the house in the past three days, hahah.
Are there dogs barking in your neighborhood right now? Â No, not that I can hear.

2020 In Review
Hoo boy, here we go.
[Ok just before I begin. I had this queued to post in the first month of January but it doesnât seem like that ever happened haha. Better late than never I suppose!]
So I am a nostalgic bitch, and since 2011, have loved to make memory boxes for each year, where I put trinkets and memories into a shoebox. This year I have continued that tradition, but I have also kept track of my happy memories throughout 2020 in my planner. This was done with the intention for me to upload a year-in-review sort of thing in hopes that maybe like, 3 people max on this god-forsaken site will read it. This sort of reminiscence was inspired by my friend @a-lbeitâ, who has done these for a few years now and me, as a slut for nostalgia, was encouraged to do the same back in January (I think? What even is my memory at this point?)
2020, as it has been for many, was a very shit year, and I am no different. I would safely say that this year has undeniably been the worst I have lived through. But I am here. I am present. And I have made it through some of the darkest times to face 2021 with a new sense of hopefulness. Keeping track of my happier memories has been something that has truly got me through this clusterfuck of a year, so I am glad that I can finally go through them all again and share them with you.
Read it, or donât, I donât give a shit what you do with your time, but if you do, I hope that you arenât bored to tears. And I hope to keep myself accountable to continue to do this for years to come.
Buckle up, grab a hot drink and a snack and get comfy, because this is a JOURNEY.
January:
· Kicked the new year off with hosting a 1920âs themed party with some of my closest friends at my family home at the beach. Had fun with drunk SingStar, playing What Do You Meme, creating a playlist with everyoneâs top 3 songs of the decade (it was a banginâ playlist I must say), and just overall drinking too much and having a riotous time
· I remember going to the beach New Yearâs Day (as is tradition in Australia) and playing ultimate frisbee in the shallows and completing a crossword puzzle on the sand (I am a 75-year-old woman, it is just a fact of life)
· I also had my friend Kirsten from South Australia stay with me for the New Yearâs period and it was lovely to have a guest over! I havenât spoken to her much this year, she sort of fell off the face of the planet, but I hope she is doing ok.
· Went town to Torquay (a beach town in Victoria) for the 6th time for Beach Mission, which is essentially a holiday program for kids in preschool-year 9 where we run activities for them. Itâs a Christian-based program but the aim isnât to convert the kids or anything like that, itâs more to show Godâs love to them through our actions and how we as Christians live our lives. Itâs also a convenient way for parents to dish their kids off for a few hours too haha. This was my final year of being a part of this program, and I am so pleased to have made so many memories and (hopefully) impacted many childrenâs lives during my time there
· I remember going on a late-night beach walk with my boyfriend Josh, talking about what the year had in store for us. We were just sitting on the beach, as you do, and I saw a shooting star. I canât remember what I wished for (if anything) but in that moment, life was a dream.
· The week after beach mission I started at my new internship! It was for a place called KidsCo, who run school holiday programs at workplaces, so parents donât need to take time off work to look after them. I helped with client relations and a lot of behind-the scenes stuff. I really loved it there
· On the very first day of my internship I remember there was torrential rain, and the train home was delayed by like, an hour or so lol
· One of the best parts about interning at KidsCo was that they were the official child-minding service for the Australian Open. I make an effort to go each year, but I was lucky enough to get free ground-entry for me and a guest for the duration of the event. I went quite a few times and got to take my mum and Josh along as well.
· Saw my only concert of the year, The Veronicas, at the Australian Open. When I say the moment the violin riff at the start of Untouched absolutely went the fuck off is an understatement. Grade 5 me would have cried (and 23 year old me did a little bit too tbh.) Yet another of one of my âall-time-favourite-songsâ that Iâve had the pleasure of hearing live. (I also went through the year feeling sad that this was the first time in 11 years I hadnât gone to a concert, but this one certainly fell through the cracks)
· Started planning my trip to the UK to see my twin sister, and best friend, Jess
· Went away to Rye for the Australia Day weekend #changethedate. An excellent time with excellent mates, and went to the beach pretty much every day and got mindlessly sloshed every night
· Listened to the Triple J Hottest 100. I think 4 of my picks made it in, which was pretty good
· Continued my job as the office manager/events coordinator at my church
February:
Basketball started back after the summer break for my two different teams, The Vikings and The Wildcats (honestly such a highlight of this year with how the rest of it ended up going)
As a team-bonding activity at KidsCo we hired a boat for a few hours and I got more drunk that I had been for a while. It was a very fun time jetting down the Yarra, waving drunkedly at the people jogging by
For Valentineâs day Josh and I had an indoor picnic with our favourite food! The weather was shit for Feb, hence the indoor nature of the picnic
Saw Shrek the Musical with two of my closest pals, Bec and Katie (I honestly forgot that this happened in 2020 hahaha) but it was ICONIC
Had a Jackbox night with The Boys
Had my cousin Amy from England over for dinner! I hadnât seen her in 5 or 6 years, so it was so lovely to connect again like no time had passed at all
Went to Healesville Sanctuary, a lovely conservation park which focuses on preserving and educating its visitors about Australian animals, with Amy
Went to mini-golf for a friendâs birthday on the leap day. He technically celebrated his 6th birthday which was excellent
Saw Cody Ko and Noel Miller live with Bec and Katie
Finished working at the church office to make room for the potential job opportunity at KidsCo
March:
Ahhh March, you shitstorm of a month. This is where everything started going downhill.
The first thing of note that happened this month was me injuring my ankle at basketball, which had me out of action for a few weeks. It was especially bad because I was nearing the end of my internship and was hoping to do my best work so that I would be chosen to stay on as an employee, but had to take a week or so off to rest my ankle. My ankle would continue to be tender and sore for most of the rest of the year
Went away for the Labour Day long weekend with the family
Finished up my internship at KidsCo. Honestly was lead to believe that I would be staying on as an employee and felt sort of betrayed after all the work I did for them, but whatever
Had a party at Becâs house to listen to Triple Jâs Hottest 100 of the Decade. One of my favourite songs was number 1 which was a pleasant surprise
Went down to the holiday house for a few days just to have so me time and sort myself out
Animal Crossing New Horizons came out haha. Honestly was one of the highlights of this year though. I stayed up until midnight so I could download it as soon as it was available because thatâs the sort of person I am Â
Mumâs birthday dinner with Dani, one of my best friends, and her girlfriend Amy
Went for a hike at Sugarloaf Reservoir with Josh and got spooked by a mob of kangaroos
April:
My mental health started really taking a downward spiral this month for multiple reasons which I wonât get into here, but this is more a note to my past self to say that it will all be ok I guess? Idk I just felt like this needed to be here
Did my ankle badly again on Good Friday
Watched the Overwatch League live with my friends and just memed in the livechat lmao
WARNING - this is a bit TMI but I am going to share anyway since it was a big part of this year, and if you are reading this you are either a stranger or a good friend so I really donât care lmao: This month I also started to get bad pains in my uterus, like, not period pains but deep, stabbing pains. This continued on for the next few weeks without me doing anything about it, except for increasingly getting stressed about it, although I will talk a bit more about this later.
Josh and I celebrated our 6th year together which was ~wholesome~
Called my friend Ashley from the US and just caught up. It was nice to see her face again. She is a good egg. I havenât talked to her since but I really hope sheâs ok.
May:
Watched Star Wars with Josh and his family for âMay the 4thâ
Started a volunteer job at Kivuli, a non-for-prophet that is based in Kenya, and started helping out with their website and social media stuff
Zoom movie time with my friends, we watched How To Train Your Dragon I think? Athough everyone was talking over the movie so I didnât really get anything out of it
Played Scattergories (one of my favourite games) with Bec and Jess on zoom and just wrote really stupid and funny answers and I remember this being just what I needed
Went for a long walk with mum and one of her friends and her daughter on a track we donât usually go on, which was a nice change of scenery
Went down to the holiday house for the first time in forever since restrictions were eased, at least for a little while lol, with the fam
Went to Portsea for a walk along the beach with Bec and her husband Trevor
Did an online trivia night that night with a big bunch of friends
Had a doctorâs appointment to see what was goinâ on down there. Honestly freaked that it could be something REALLY bad. Got booked in to have an ultrasound the next week, so at least Iâd be finding out what was wrong soon.
The day after I got my results was the 21st of May, the day my mum and I were meant to be flying out to the UK to see my sister and her boyfriend. It was already hard enough a month or so before when I had to cancel my flight, but this day was so SO difficult. I canât remember the last time I cried so hard. I am so blessed to have a boyfriend like Josh though. He was by my side the whole day, and held me as I cried. Oh man I am crying as I write this now, it was such a hard time but I know I will see my sister again.
And then the day after THAT whole ordeal was my birthday, which was meant to be spent in London with Jess but it turned out to be the first birthday weâve had apart. This day was also hard, but made better by being with loved ones and having dinner at my grandma and grandpaâs house. Grandmaâs roast potatoes make everything better.
Went to Geelong to see the other side of my family, it was so good to see my nan again. I love her very much.
Went to the Briars with Bec and went on a lovely nature walk and saw a lot of little wallabies and even an emu
Had an ultrasound and my pain turned out to be a 10cm wide cyst!!! So fun!!!!! Thank the heavens it wasnât a child. I was so relieved. It is still in my body so thatâs cute tho.
June:
Applied for a bunch of jobs, and even got a few interviews! Still no job.
The absolute highlight of this month, and maybe even the whole year, was going away to Lakeâs Entrance and Yarram with mum, dad and Josh. It was so good to go to the country, I love country towns so much and the wildlife and nature is so beautiful in the eastern part of Victoria. If you ever get the opportunity I recommend going there!
We ate so much nice food and just relaxed. It wasnât a perfect replacement for not going to Europe, but it was something at least.
Did more work for Kivuli which kept me busy
Went to Becâs house to bake a cake. She came out to me as bi this day too, and the cake was coloured like the bisexual flag!
Started a short course through the university I went to in Facebook for Business. It was a great way to build up my skills.
Played Animal Crossing with Daniâs little sister, Tami, a very wholesome time
Looked after Joshâs dog Jed while his family went away for the weekend (also went into the start of July) and was honestly the greatest time
July:
Halfway through the year. Thank fuck.
Had another job interview
Went on lots of walks
Was just generally cold
Did a lot of cleaning
Painted the downstairs rooms at church, which took a few days and a lot of back pain, but itâs cool to think that I was able to contribute my energy and time to something while I was not feeling good at all
The restrictions were tightened again, meaning that I couldnât go further than 5kms away from my house, except to see Josh, so this was a really lonely time for me.
Really got into Masterchef with mum this season. They had all returning contestants from other seasons so that was really fun to watch.
Got and assembled a new couch upstairs that I can say I actually own myself. I absolutely love it.
More walks, despite the cold
This was a very uneventful month, but thatâs ok!
August:
Had a call with the hospital Iâll be having my cyst surgery with. It was good to know that things would be started. I had to have a blood test and a second ultrasound then put on the waiting list for surgery. Still no sign on when that will be happening though 6 months later. Just so lucky to live in Australia where all of these appointments are free.
Went for a really nice long walk with Josh. Got shat on by a bird.
Did lots of stuff around the house, just tidying and watering the plants and sorting through my wardrobe to purge all the clothes I grew out of
Had an online Switch games night with some friends which was fun. We played Smash Bros. and Mario Kart and just had a great time!
Ok this sounds super lame but my favourite podcast, The Jenna & Julien Podcast, finished forever which came as a surprise and was just really sad. I really hope it comes back one day.
Did my tax return lmao
Baked rice puff/marshmallow bar things
Made an ASOS order to fill my happiness with material things. Did get some cute clothes and lingerie tho đ
More games with Bec and Jess, we played Golf With Your Friends this time
Had a cocktail night with Josh, where we just made a bunch of fun cocktails and got drunk. I canât wait to live with him so we can do this all the time.
Lots of Kivuli work, as we are planning for our 10th anniversary fundraising event
September:
Baked cookies, which was something I did a lot at the start of lockdown but sort of drifted away from. I absolutely love to bake.
Started working for Media-Wize, a small PR company that was started by someone I know at church.
Started playing Among Us at the start of the month
So many Among Us nights omg, just call me queen impostor please
Did my induction for Media-Wize
Got  n e r v o u s  because I kept getting things wrong in my new job. I always seem to fuck up the good things and opportunities that I get
Did a livestream reading of The Great Gatsby on my friendâs Twitch stream. It was really fun and something I had never done before. I voiced Tom Buchannan, which was interesting but cool to sort of get into the character. I hope to do something like this soon.
I burnt my hair while cooking dinner and had to give myself a haircut lmao. It was the first time since 2018 that I had cut it so it was a long time coming anyway.
So much Media-Wize work. It felt good to finally be getting paid to do a job
Got locked out of my bathroom so I had to climb up the laundry chute to unlock it from the inside, all because a fly outsmarted me (itâs a long story⊠and honestly best told by speaking it)
October:
Had the Kivuli 10th anniversary livestream. Lots of work went into it and it was so much fun! Itâs incredible that a non-for-profit that has benefitted so many children and families is still going strong. Such a blessing to see.
Dadâs birthday, and we had a picnic with grandma and grandpa and saw them for the first time since lockdown was somewhat lifted
Walked to Beasleyâs nursery with Josh and got a coffee. This was the first proper, not McCafe coffee I had had in months and it was SO good
Played Animal Crossing with Dani
More Among Us, a theme for the last few months of 2020
Watched the AFL Grand Final. Wasnât super exciting this year tbh, especially since we couldnât have a BBQ or party or anything, but hopefully next year will be different
Nearly moved out of home with a friend of a friend, but since I didnât have a job, didnât think it would be a wise decision. Wouldâve been nice though
Did some more Media-Wize work. I havenât been given anything to do since this time though, so I donât know whatâs going on with that? They really be ghosting me tho.
Applied for JobSeeker so I would at least be getting a little income
New Jackbox came out, and had a games night with The Boys playing all the new games
Voted in the local election
Went to Westerfoldâs Park with Josh for a lovely long walk
Played lots of The Sims 4 (but tbh I have been doing this all year)
November:
This month things sort of started to turn around, as Covid wasnât hitting my state hardly at all, so I was actually able to see family and friends again!
Went to my old primary school with Dani and played basketball and just shot around and talked. She also came over for dinner. It was so nice, and she is a true friend.
Had a picnic at the park at the top of the street with my dadâs side of the family, all together at last
Melbourne Cup Day, not that I really care but itâs nice to get a day off. Went on a day trip to the Dandenong mountain range. It was so, so nice and bought some lovely little things from local shops, went for a bushwalk and had a bakery lunch
Went to the park to throw the frisbee and kick the footy around with Josh and his friends, although they are my friends too tbh
Had a picnic with a group of friends that I hadnât seen since January, so it was so, so good to catch up with them and have a delicious BBQ dinner
My favourite online comedy group, Aunty Donnaâs Netflix series came out! Had a virtual watch party with a few friends and binge watched it all in one go
Had lunch with grandma. This used to be a weekly occurrence but for obvious reasons was put off for this year. I absolutely adore her and every lunch we spend together is so precious to me
Went to Kyneton with some of the family as another day trip
Christmas shopping time again. So weird to be at the shops and feel sort of normal? I went 4 different times in the span of a week and a half haha
Joshâs birthday! We went to this maze place with has a bunch of big mazes and other fun activities. It was such a perfect day. Then we had dinner with his family.
Got a letter from the IRS saying that I needed to provide them with proof of identity, so that was fun trying to sort that out. We love the outdated US tax system <3
Went to a bridal shower for my friend Katie
Went for another hike with Josh to the mountains
Drove down to Geelong for a friendâs wedding and stayed at my nanâs house
Had a pub dinner and Jackbox night while down in Geelong with The Boys
A good friend of mine was leaving to live in Japan for two years, so I went to her house one last time to say goodbye and chill in her pool and just hang out
God why is it so hard to get a job?
December:
Omg we have made it to December. It truly is a miracle with how this year went tbh. And if you have read this far, thank you but also, how little of a life do you have?
Went to my friend Katieâs wedding. Sort of surreal to go to a wedding during a pandemic but it was fun and I got to see a lot of friends I hadnât seen in a while
Enjoyed the hot weather and went to the beach a number of times with a variety of friends
Went Christmas shopping, and just shopping in general since it was safe to and shops had finally opened again
Got a job at a talent agency where you get gigs as a paid extra in TV shows and movies, which was pretty cool! I even had a professional photoshoot to get headshots done, something that I had never done before. Glad that I could get some pictures to use on LinkedIn though haha. Still havenât been cast in anything but hereâs hoping.
Had dinner and drinks with Josh, Bec and Trev in the city for the first time since it reopened. God I love Melbourne so much. It is just so magical on balmy summer nights. This was such a special evening, and was so good just to be in the city again
Had a lovely day with Dani, starting with breakfast and then going on a hike before the weather got too hot. We went to Sherbrooke Forest, a place I hadnât been before, and it was incredibly beautiful
Had a number of job interviews this month too, none of which got back to me which was annoying :/
Now it was heading into the time where every weekend is packed with Christmas doâs so Iâll just collate them in this point. Lots of drinks were consumed and many delicious roast dinners
Had our annual Christmas Carolâs service at church. It was a blessing to be back in the building for the first time since March, and to be able to do something I love (singing) with some of my best friends was the best
Christmas eve I went to my grandma and grandpaâs house (on dadâs side) to help them set up for Christmas lunch. Spending time together just the three of us is so special, and I am so glad I was able to come over and just chat and be in their loving presence. Then that night I went to our 11pm church service to bring in Christmas day. It was a great service and was great to see our kick-ass minister give a sermon face-to-face.
Ok here we go, Christmas was a doozy, letâs go. So Christmas lunch was, as I said, with my dadâs side of the family, which is always a great time. Cracking open crackers and fighting over whoâll get the bottle opener or nail clippers is always a highlight haha. But we had the fucking best roast potatoes I swear. I need to know what my grandma puts into them because I could genuinely eat 20 of them and still have space. Then the rest of the afternoon was spent in a food coma until I went to Joshâs house to spend dinner with his family. Another delicious meal and great banter was what I needed, although I can safely say that I put on at least 5 additional kilos after that day.
The next day the fam and I headed to Geelong to see my mumâs side of the family. Was a great drive down and I listened to all of The Avalanches new album which had just released. Easily the greatest album of the yeah hands-down. So we spent lunch there and absolutely stuffed ourselves with more food. Three Christmas meals really took a toll on me, but I am just blessed as it is to have a loving family and food on the table.
The next day dad, Josh and I headed to the beach to spend that weird time between Christmas and New Yearâs. To get there we took the ferry that goes from Queenscliff to Portsea, which is always a fun time, since we donât often go from one side of the bay to the other (if you donât know the geography of Victoria I apologise lmao). Mum didnât come with us as she had some symptoms of Covid, so went home to isolate and get tested. Thankfully she tested negative and she joined us the next day.
Once I got back home I had to prepare the house for my friend Jono who was visiting for new years from SA. Many last-minute chores and cleaning was done haha.
New Years Eve! Went to pick up Jono and my other friend Sarah from the airport and dropped Sarah off at her accommodation and ended up staying there with Jono for a while as this was where the New Yearâs party was going to be. Although, in true Victorian fashion, our premier announced that there was going to be a limit of 15 visitors at any house from 5pm that night. Excellent. We love a last-minute change of plans. So we had lunch and spent the afternoon at my friendâs house before heading to a local park to chuck the frisbee and kick the footy around. We also had our second annual NYE trivia competition, which my team lost by 1 point!! Dang I get so competitive, but we will win next year, I can feel it. The new year came through uneventfully, we were in the middle of a game of Scattergories or something like that when someone changed the channel on the TV to see the Sydney fireworks across the screen and like, 4 second left of the countdown. I gave Josh a bog olâ smooch and gave my friends a big hug. We had done it. 2020 was defeated.
Conclusion (damn this really be an essay tho)
This year was undeniably the hardest year I had ever been through. Going through unemployment for the majority of the year and having no sense of purpose hit me hard but I am entering 2021 with the hope and willingness to get on track with my career. And I think I will be successful. A lot of truly awful things happened around the world this year as well, with the devastating bushfires at the start of the year, the powerful BLM protests, Coronavirus absolutely destroying lives and many, many other global events but through it all, here we are. I hope you all keep well this year and that your 2021 is infinitely better than your 2020.
Song of the Year: Tangerine â Glass Animals
Album of the Year: We Will Always Love You â The Avalanches (I CANNOT stress this enough, but you absolutely must listen to this album!)
TV Show of the Year: The Mandalorian - Season 2
Movie of the Year: Bombshell (the only movie I saw at the cinemas so didnât have much to go with)
Memory of the Year: Going away with my family and just enjoying time away with each other
Thank you for reading this, if youâve made it this far, youâre a real one <3

Christmas in Australia is more fun than others might think. Granted, you e never spent a Christmas outside of your home, so your opinion might be a bit biased. With living in the Southern Hemisphere came scorching Christmases. No snow, bright sun, scorching rays, high waves, and great food. Itâs always hot in summer, but every year your family buys a portion of the beach so you can have a private party.
Your entire family comes from both sides. There are so many kids, lots of aunts and uncles, and all four of your grandparents. Each Christmas is a time to remember, but the only thing that makes this holiday better than all the rest is that your beautiful girlfriend, Elizabeth Olsen, is joining you. Itâs your first Christmas with her since dating, and she only said yes to coming because her older sisters are having some big fashion thing that her parents wanted to go to.
Itâs really their loss since spending time with her is always a good time in your book. You thought having her over with so many of your family members would be nerve racking, but sheâs met most of them before. Back when you and Elizabeth were starring in your very own movie. They came to set to give good graces, and they immediately fell in love with her. While you werenât nervous, she was. Sheâs never even been to Australia, much less an Australian Christmas despite being great friends with the Hemsworths.
Itâs actually how you two met. There was a press conference for one of the bigger Marvel movies, and the only cast members who could make it last minute was Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., and Elizabeth. The press conference was held in New York, and it just so happened to be the same week as one of your interviews there. Since youâre well known for your movies, it wasnât a shock to meet some of the cast for the Marvel movies. You donât believe in love at first sight? but you and Elizabeth came damn close to it.
For that very short week of nonstop interviews, you tried to spend as much time with her as possible before you went to London for another interview. After you two parted ways, you stayed in contact by text, facetime, email, and any other forms of communication. She was so captivating, and you hated being away from her even for one second.
At the start of your relationship, you learned that sheâs never been to Australia in her life even if she wanted to go. Since Christmas is truly the best time for Australia, you promised her youâd make her go. There is no snow, no cold weather, the air conditioning needs to be blasted, but itâs so much fun to spend it in the sun.
The private section of the beach your dad rented is in full gear. The small children and preteens splash and have fun in the ocean. There are a couple of adults in the water to make sure everything is okay with the much smaller children. Your big and beefy uncles are having a sandcastle building contest. These are normally boring because kids donât know how to make real sandcastles, but your uncles make a big deal out of it. They can make the castles as high as you, and youâre over five feet tall.
Your parents are tending to the barbeque grill as your dad does all the cooking and your mom tells him how good heâs doing. If she cooked, then youâre sure to land in the hospital. Your grandparents are relaxing under the big umbrella they requested you bring. They canât handle too much sun, and if they are in it for too long, then theyâll get a really nasty sunburn thatâs sure to put them in the hospital. You and Elizabeth are hanging with your parents since theyâre hogging all of her time.
âSo, Elizabeth, howâs your family? Why arenât you with them?â your dad asks as he flips the fish.
He always makes the best seafood this time of year.
âJames! Be polite!â your mother scolds him.
âItâs fine,â Elizabeth smiles and waves her off. âMy sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley have some fashion things that my parents wanted to go to. I donât have any children, and God forbid my sisters so we all agreed to spend New Yearâs together.â
âWell, youâre always welcomed here,â your mother smiles warmly.
Your dad finishes cooking the food, and the whole family gathers together at the tables. Your dadâs food gets praises from all ages, but since youâve had his halibut a thousand times, you and Elizabeth decide to take a stroll along the shore to get away from everyone else. Itâs nice to spend time with your family, but you want some private time with her.
âHow do you like Christmas here so far?â
âItâs fun. Iâve never had a Christmas where it wasnât snowing, but I quite like it. Itâs refreshing.â
âYou know, Iâve never seen snow before.â
âAre you serious? It snows here. Your family doesnât go to the mountains during that time?â
âNo, never. We just never have the time during that time. Plus, Iâm usually away doing another movie or interview.â
âThat settles it then. Next year, youâre spending Christmas with my family. Iâm sure your parents wouldnât mind. Right?â
âIâm sure they wouldnât mind if I spend New Yearâs with them. It would be nice to get away from the sunshine and heat at least for one holiday,â you chuckle.
âYouâre going to have so much fun. Snow is the best thing to play with.â
âHow do you play with snow?â
âY/N, you donât know what youâre missing,â she grins. âYou can make snow angels and snowmen. You can have snowball fights, go sledding, skiing, and snowboarding. The best thing is to make snow forts. It gets very cold easily, but making it is just as fun as spending a few minutes inside.â
âNow Iâm excited,â you giggle.
âYou should be. But for right now, we should get back to your parents. Theyâre calling us over.â
Itâs going to be an adventure to experience a Christmas without the high waves, hot sun, and the sizzling fish your dad makes.
Youâve never experienced weather like this before. From where you live, the coldest itâs ever gotten reached 10 degrees Celsius or 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Elizabethâs family is originally from Minnesota, so she went back there despite living in Los Angeles. Your family was understanding when you told them you were going to be with your girlfriend and her family for Christmas since all of her family has yet to meet you. Itâs only fair since she went with you last year.
To say you were shocked is an understatement. Not only does the cold put you in your fucking place, but an American Christmas is so much different than you expected. For one, they eat turkey, drink eggnog, make cookies, and have sâmores. There are other differences, but those are the ones youâre noticing right off the bat. You guess you could have turkey back home, but it wouldnât be Christmas without your dadâs fish. Itâs a nice change, but thereâs nothing like home.
âSo, Y/N, so I hear itâs your first time here?â Elizabethâs mom, Jarnett, says.
âIâve been in the States before, yes, but never a Christmas here you chuckle. âI thought it was going to be snowing.â
âOh, it will, darling. Just give it some time. By tomorrow morning, this place is going to look like a wonderland!â
âAre you warm enough?â David, her dad, asks as he tends to the fireplace.
Youâre wearing so many layers underneath your very thick jacket. Itâs never been this cold back home, so you brought every warm clothing you owned.
âIâll manage. You know, it doesnât get this cold where I live.â
âWhat is Christmas like for you? Itâs summer when it happens right?â Jarnett wonders.
âYeah, is so much fun. I really like to surf with my brothers, my whole family plays on the beach, and I canât forget Boxing day.â
âWhatâs that?â David asks.
âWe donât get that here,â Elizabeth explains.
âOh, thatâs unfortunate. Boxing day is a day to give back to the less fortunate. Churches love to collect leftover food, money, and other things in boxes which is then handed to the poor. Itâs also a time to volunteer to these places. It really helps bring us all together so that everyone can have a good Christmas.â
âThat sounds wonderful!â
âYeah, I donât know why the States doesnât do this. Canada, the UK, and we do it,â you shrug.
Itâs nice to share your Christmas traditions even though it may sound weird to them. They are kind enough to let you be a part of this special holiday, and itâs only fair you treat your countries traditions the same way. This Christmas is looking out to be one for the books already.
And it hasnât even snowed yet.
âY/N, wake up!â Elizabeth whispers and shakes your shoulders.
âWhat?â you grumble sleepily.
âCome on, get up. Out on something warm. I want you to see this. Itâs snowing!â
That was enough to get you out of bed because you were so excited to see snow when you first arrived. You hastily throw on a warm jacket and follow Elizabeth to the front door. You refrain from looking through the windows because you wanted to see snow in all its glory. She opens the front door and you just have enough energy to gasp.
Everythingâthe cars, houses, trees, bushes, street, and everything else in betweenâis all covered with freak snow. It's like a giant laid a big white blanket over everything. Thereâs still snow falling from the sky, so you just run outside in childlike excitement. Elizabeth watches as you tilt your head back and stick out your tongue to try and catch the falling snowflakes. Itâs refreshing to watch someone who's never seen snow below. She gets to experience it through your eyes.
âThis snow is so fluffy! Itâs surprisingly not cold!â you exclaim.
âYeah, is warmer when it snows because the air is losing moisture. Itâs a lot drier so itâs warmer.â
âI love snow!â you shout and run into a small pile thatâs been growing overnight.
Elizabeth laughs and joins in on the fun. She canât imagine experiencing this with anyone other than you. This is what makes Christmas special.
Itâs not where you have it, is the people you spend it with.

DRUCK reactions - s4 ep2
With special thanks to Michi ( @wodrueckts ) for looking over it to make sure I didnât say anything glaringly wrong. đ
CLIP 1: Itâs hard out there for a hijabi
Hereâs one thing I like about this episode: the shot of the tiara spinning in the air. That said, itâs kind of inexplicable. Itâs been like a month since the Abiball, so whatâs the tiara doing here? Was Amira holding onto it all this time? Did she have this vision of, like, sorting out her shit as she prepares to move out of her parentsâ home, and remembering how her gay friend gave the tiara to her because he hated that his boyfriend was so hot he just naturally won all popularity contests? And she was like, âImma do a solid for future Amira and get rid of this dollar store tiara right nowâ?
Anyway.
So far, Amira M.âs season has been the only Sana season not to drop during Ramadan. Seems like the Druck team thought they might not even get to Amira, and then they got renewed at the eleventh hour. So they needed to put that shit out quick because the character was set to leave for Australia and anyway it wouldâve been really weird to do an Amira season in uni, and then go back to high school with the next gen. So this season is set in summer, and depending on what Wtfock does with Yasmina, it might be the only Sana season to do so.
I think setting this clip lakeside was pretty clever. Plenty of chances to show people in swimming suits or skimpy clothing, as well as peopleâs reactions to Amiraâs burkini. It very quickly sets the stage for the season, same as the bus montage did for Sana in Skam.
Iâm not sure how to feel about Sam thinking cunnilingus is boring. Is she sure sheâs having it done right? I thought Abdi had a longer than average tongue.
And thanks to Michi, I discovered that this was a reference to Skam, which I didnât even know because I still had the gdrive subs for s2, where Chris says getting eaten out in Gran Canaria was fun, as opposed to the new subs, where she says it was boring as shit and she fell asleep.
I canât remember whether Sanaâs prayer app ever went off in front of the girl squad. When Skam España did it, the girls immediately freaked the fuck out at the thought of Amira praying right in the middle of a street party. In this case, Kiki looks at Amira for a second. Amira turns the app off though, so we never find out what the girls wouldâve done if Amira were to pray right there. Or if itâs happened before. (Iâve been told by Michi this has happened before but the girls didnât have a reaction then either.)
âGirls, why does it always have to be about boys with you guys?â GO OFF, AMIRA. I remember when I watched the season live, I became exhausted at all the boy talk, so itâll be interesting to see if I still get this feeling watching the episodes.
In comparison to Vilde, Kiki is also a good sport about Amira wanting this topic to be over. I mean, she laughs a little (perhaps knowingly?), but Kiki is always up for changing the topic to something else about her⊠Like her and Carlosâ house hunting!
And also, Druck has sent Mia off to Spain to reassure viewers that this Noora wonât take over the season like other Nooras. (Ahem.)
For lack of something to talk about, Amira brings up boxing. Kiki is immediately interested, since she loves working out. Amira is really not into the idea of her brothers getting to know her friends, so she uses Hannaâs reticence to shoot Kiki down.
Her mood has been spoiled all in all, so she stays back to feel alienated as the girls splash around.
She does look cute as hell in her burkini and sunglasses though.
CLIP 2: Am I a bet? Am I a fucking bet?
I really like the blink and youâll miss it shot of (I think is) the customized snow globe with the Nadia and Amira pic.
Some other stuff in Amiraâs room: A polisci book, a list of lodgings in Sydney open on her browser, and what Iâm pretty sure is a save the date card from Nadia and her fiancĂ©. This is a very smart way to set up Amiraâs character for people who might not have been paying a lot of attention to her so far. Itâs always fun to get a peek at a Skams characterâs bedroom for the first time.
Amiraâs season came after Imaneâs, and one thing I immediately liked more about Druck was that they spent time with the prayer scenes. I remember ONE (1) scene where Imane prayed in Skam France, and we only got to see the tail end of it.
Iâm pretty sure the game the Mahmoodis play doesnât actually exist, which probably has to do with having to pay royalties to show a real game. Interestingly(?), when I searched Dr. Whoo and Chopstick on google, it led me to Doctor Who pages, so I wonder if itâs all an elaborate Doctor Who reference on the part of someone in the Druck team.
In Skam, Sana misses the shot because the balloon squad are talking throughout the whole song, but Amira loses because Mohammed literally leans into her line of sight to make eye contact. In general, Mohammed is a lot more suave and savvier than Yousef ever was.
CLIP 3: This apartment is gonna kill somebody
And on a similar note but related to Amira, she is set up as someone the other girls rely on for advice. Kiki needs her help with the renter, while Sam asks her for romantic advice. I think the reason for this might be that while the girls didnât exactly rely on Sana for advice in Skam, Sana was the one with the ideas since the start. Amira doesnât necessarily take charge of situations the way Sana did, but thereâs this notion that without Amira, the squad would fall apart.
The Berlin housing market = shantycore goals.
I also like the bit of subtle social commentary in Amiraâs speech, about middle aged people helping young adults get started with life, so the latter can support the former when it comes to pensions, etc.
CLIP 4: Huh.
So even though Amira didnât want the girls at the gym earlier, they are here now.
The day before, Amira posted a story on ig reminding the girls about the boxing class, with no indication that she ever tried to get them not to come.
Hanna gives a quick bit of exposition when she mentions Stefan is already working full time (and in a job that presumably requires a uni degree) while she just graduated high school. Which she finds weird.
As in Skam, Essam calls Amira âslave,â which Kiki and Hanna notice. Amira quickly says it has to do with a bet, and the subject gets dropped.
When the season was airing, I thought for sure this wasnât the end of it, and it would be brought up again, either through Kiki, Hanna, or possibly Stefan via Hanna. But no, this is really the end of that storyline.
My question is, why? What is the point of recreating this storyline from Skam (even going through the trouble of setting up a week during the hiatus between episodes 31 and 32, where Amira wins and Essam has to be the slave) if youâre just going to drop it in the same episode? Itâs bad writing because weâre still in the stage of the season where storylines are being set up for later. Itâs bad writing because Kiki and/or Hanna literally never bring up this bet/slave business again after devoting several clips and a bunch of social media to it. Itâs like the writers didnât really want to adapt this storyline from Skam, but they also didnât have a ton of ideas for this week. Or maybe they were going to go somewhere with it, but then they changed their minds because it made some character look bad, but they forgot to take it out. Â
Like okay, fine, it wasnât my favorite storyline in Skam either. It made Vilde look like an idiot at best, or a racist and a traitor at worst. But then why even have Kiki and Hanna overhear Essam? Itâs not like they had to do it for adaptation reasons. Skam France didnât.
Itâs frustrating as fuck, and it wonât be the last time this season will pull this on the viewer.
Speaking of which, Sam thinks Mohammed is hot as hell (she ainât wrong) and invites Essam, Omar and Mohammed to Jonasâ birthday party. This bothers Amira, because she doesnât want her brothers to hang out with her friends. Even though she apparently just invited the girls to the boxing class that takes place at the gym her brothers attend.
[SIGH]
But anyway, Sam is being characterized as someone who is in charge of her sexuality (throughout the whole show, but specifically in this episode). While Amira is pining from a distance, getting flustered just from eye contact, Sam sees a hot guy and immediately creates an opportunity to see him again.
CLIP 5: Barbecue pining
Thereâs such a summer vibe about always finding reasons to hang out at a specific place because your friend got a summer job there.
I gotta give it to the writers. Essam is such a well-constructed younger sibling character. Heâs a brat exactly in the way younger siblings are, and yet⊠Thatâs also the reason heâs so endearing.
And, on that note, Omar gives off such dad vibes. Not even older brother vibes. Every time I see Omar I feel like heâs thinking, âha-ha! These little brats are acting out because theyâre going through a lot! We just have to understand them!â
The conversation Amira and Mohammed have around the barbecue is so dumb, but you gotta love how pleased Amira is that she has Mohammedâs attention. Though sheâs also unused to liking having a guyâs attention.
David and Matteo are back, and theyâre still adorable! Good for them.
The way you could describe this moment as, Amira literally turned around for a moment and Sam was already touching Mohammedâs hair, and have it be accurate, sums up what theyâre going for here.
Social media
There was a lot of social media content to keep people fed in the hiatus between episode 31 and 32. David and Matteo backpacked through Europe, Mia left for Spain and Kiki made a video about it, Stefan was invited to a game night with the crew, Kiki and Carlos looked for an apartment, and as I mentioned earlier, Essam lost a bet to Amira and had to be her slave for a week. I think thatâs about it!
Abdi suggests that he and Carlos give Jonas supplies to make a protest sign as a birthday present and I almost lost it.
I think the piece of social media that most pissed off Skam purists was a chat where Jonas assures Amira heâs already thought of buying halal meat (as well as vegetarian and vegan options) for his birthday, because apparently Druck wanted to show up Skam or something, but like⊠Itâs not like this storyline went anywhere on Skam either, like at no point do the girls learn to order pizza Sana can eat. So what does it matter if Jonas is already aware that Muslims eat halal meat.
I love that Hanna went to boxing class once, posted a bunch of stories about it and then never attended again. What a mood.
And to close the week, Kiki texts Amira that Essam started following her on insta.
FINAL THOUGHTS
When the season was airing, I found these clips cute enough. But on rewatch, I didnât care for this episode and the reason is that so much of it ended being irrelevant to the season. What this episode did well was setting up the Kiki/Amira friendship, setting Kiki and Carlosâ apartment and the boxing class as recurring settings for the season and some character details. Essam is a really solid character from the get go, and I like the details in Amiraâs room. They couldâve left out just about everything else.

Lichen, dirt, roots, rainwater â
lichen đČ - what do you like to collect? I collect crystals actually :)
dirt đ - do you take care of any plants? I do, I have a syngonium that I care for, three lavender bushes, and a few cactuses. I am getting some more cuttings soon so Iâll have some new plants <3 roots đ± - describe your favorite memory I have a few. Funnily enough, even though we donât speak anymore, (ugh family drama) most of my happy memories are of mucking around with my brother when I was a kid. Once our family went to a public pool in New Zealand, and they had a kids splash pool. I was only four I believe. Anyways, in the pool, they had these jigsaw-like blocks that were quite big and could be fit together to build things. My brother built me a tiny box with no lid, and then he put me in the box. I was trapped there lol. I had to get rescued by my mum and my brother got in trouble. I wasnât crying or upset or anything, I was just stuck in a box and really confused lol. People were walking past the pool looking at this kid stuck in a box while her brother sat nearby laughing evily. And other times he would put glue on his hands and wait for it to dry. Then he would pull it off and show me, and then he would tell me he was pulling his skin off. I freaked out and told mum and she told my brother to stop scaring his sister. He walked off cackling. We also used to go âcampingâ in our backyard, and we made a little fire and ate marshmallows. He also tried to teach me (a five-year-old) to ride a skateboard lol, and he tried to teach me how to climb trees. He had a cubby house up a tree, but I couldn't climb up there. I cried because I really wanted to go up, so he put me on his back and carried me up. When we got to Australia, he bought me a Polly pocket with his allowance, and when I got staples stuck in my hand and no adults were around he pulled the staples out and put a band-aid on for me. I think he was around 11 at this time? Ah, sweet memories. :)
rainwater đ§ - whatâs your favorite sound? Iâve never really thought about this actually. Maybe rain on a tin roof is pretty nice. Actually, because I live in Australia I really like thunderstorms in summer. The summer gets so hot that when we have thunderstorms I open all the doors and windows and let the wind fly through the house to cool it down. Itâs like sweeeet swweeett relief.

On to the next
Greetings and Salutations!
I hope you are all enjoying the holidays and the Christmas cheer! This is the first time in my life we have been away from home this time of the year and it feels really strange - I miss it!!
The last time we posted we were in Danang, Vietnam. Where we spent a couple more days before heading on to Hoi An, just a 30 minute drive south down the coast. We were very lucky to have a great friend of ours, Allison, come visit us from Shanghai for a few days in Danang and Hoi An. Bryn and I first met Allison in Bali (which is also where Bryn and I met but you already probably know that). She was there teaching English as well and we became fast friends. Allison and I have actively stayed in touch and have met up in England, Nepal, and China prior to this trip in Vietnam. Sheâs been living in China for 3 years now but is planning on moving to the Danang/Hoi An area next year and the dates lined up for us to meet up and check it all out!
Hoi An was a really nice relaxing getaway. We stayed at a lovely bed and breakfast located on An Bang beach. It had been a couple of weeks since we had any really nice weather, nothing too inclement but for weeks it had been overcast - but the first couple of days in Hoi An we got lucky with a few awesome beach days and soaked up the sun. Our first night in Hoi An was unexpectedly wild. We went into town to explore some shops and get dinner and found out the Vietnam national soccer team was playing in the finals of the SEA games. We had noticed the build up throughout our trip as many people watched them make their way to the finals. We knew it was a big deal to the Vietnamese, but my goodness.. We took a lantern boat down the river that runs through town to the main drag of restaurants and bars where we found a place that had put up a sheet on the wall and was projecting the game. They ended up beating Indonesia 3-0 in a thrilling match. The aftermath was inanity, there were literal riots in the streets, the entire city seemed to be out in full force waving flags, chanting, singing, dancing and blowing horns. The streets were flooded  at a standstill with people and cars for hours and it took us nearly 3 hours before the roads were clear enough to get a taxi back to our hotel. The next evening we met up with a friend of my fathers from high school. He has lived in Vietnam for the last 3 years with his wife and their 3 year old daughter. The last time my father and he had seen each other was before I was born. He took us around to some cool local spots and told us about his life and what living in Asia as an expat is like. He was a really interesting person and we had a great time getting to hang out with a local! Their daughter was absolutely adorable and it was really fun to entertain her and make jokes while she shared lots of candy with us. :)
Our final day in Hoi An was spent relaxing at a spa. In Asia you can get various spa treatments/massages for ~10$ and seeing as we wouldnât have that opportunity again for a while, we treated ourselves. I did a hot stone massage for the first time, it was really freaking hot, but awesome. Bryn got a coffee bean and honey body scrub and a manicure and Allison did some extravagant package deal. It was wonderful. The rest of the evening we just chilled out and played cards, got some dinner and drank wine from the local vineyard. The next morning we parted ways with Allison and flew to Saigon for the day. We had a a flight late that evening so we booked a cheap AirBnB with a pool and hung out in the sun and then went to see the new Jumanji movie before our flight. One last Bun Cha and bowl of Pho and we were saying goodbye to Vietnam.Â
Bryn and I are cheap flight aficionados, we have some know-how on working the system and typically find great deals wherever we go, but going ultra-budget can pose problems. At the start of our trip we flew on China Eastern, the budget Chinese airline. Our flight from the US to Thailand was just over 200$, short layovers, good seats, crazy deal! However, right before our flight they changed the flight schedules in China and we were unable to make our connection so we had to hang out in Shanghai for a couple of days. Luckily, our friend Allison lives there and she we got to hang out with her and explore the city. We will flashback and include a few photos from our Shanghai trip in this post as well. Well.. that was not to be the last of our flight debacles.. When we were searching for flights, the flights from Vietnam to New Zealand were pretty damn expensive - this is the high season for tourism in New Zealand as it is the beginning of their summer, and with the holidays and such flights in December were very out of our price range. Except for this one date, we were baffled why the flights on December 13th were less than half the price than all of all the other flights but we counted ourselves lucky and locked it in. A few days later I came to realize that December 13th fell on a Friday.. We definitely got a real Friday the 13th experience... We went to the airport ~3 hours early for our flight and as we got through the check in line they informed us that we did not have the proper clearance to get on our flight to New Zealand. Since we had started traveling, New Zealand just implemented a new regulation that you have to pre-register your automatic visa on arrival - it seems silly requiring people to apply for something they are guaranteed to get but nonetheless, we were in a bit of a pickle. We had an hour or so before the counter closed to work it out and there were a couple other folks in the same boat as us. The approval process is only supposed to take 20-30 minutes so we applied but our application didnât go through properly and the counter was about to close. We cajoled the people in Vietnam to at least let us board the first leg of our flight to Australia and figure it out on our long-layover there - luckily we had been approved for Australian visas a couple weeks prior and that was an option otherwise we wouldâve be SOL. We barely made that flight as we had to wait in an insanely long immigration line and sprint through the airport - they closed the doors as soon as we stepped inside. We were able to call the New Zealand immigration department from Australia and re-apply and get it all expedited. We got to New Zealand as planned, but with a whole lot of added stress and 3 months wasted on our year-long visas in Australia. Couldâve been a lot worse but it will be a long time before I fly on Friday the 13th again.Â
We have been in Auckland for 3 days now. Another friend of ours from Bali, Arnaud, has a downtown apartment in the city that was between tenants so weâve been staying in a lovely 22nd story apartment in the heart of the city. The first morning we were here we headed across town to the weekly used car fair to begin our search for a van - which will be our means of room and transportation throughout our 3 months in New Zealand. At first we were a bit overwhelmed and disheartened - the vans on display were either way out of our price range, way too small for me to lay down comfortably, or most predominantly, being sold by a shady used-car salesman that clearly was just trying to do a quick flip. We left the fair to go get a lovely gas-station breakfast and decided to go back and give it one last lap before the day was out. In the far back corner, clearly having arrived late was an older guy from Vermont who charmed us with his stories of living out of the van in New Zealand and living on sailboats in New England. The van was a bit out of our price range but he was trying to get out of the city for the holidays quickly and after some relatively easy negotiating we got the price down in to our ballpark. We got it tested by a mechanic yesterday and heâs currently doing a small fix on a radiator tube, but if all goes well with that we will go to the post office tomorrow with a scary amount of cash in our pockets and buy our first car!!Â
Today and tomorrow we are going to get prepared to head out on the road! We are starting by heading North of Auckland up to Cape Reinga. While I may be missing the Christmas season and cheer a bit, I live an incredibly exciting life and am super stoked and grateful to start out on this advanture. ;)
Hope all is well in your lives wherever you may be <3
