I have way too many alts that I keep to myself (which is why I generally refrain from posting them), but I'm going to ignore that habit for a moment just because I'm feeling particularly insane about this guy.

Not to sound too mean but what do you expect me to do? I get that sapphic ships get overshadowed and underrated all the time in comparison to achillean ones. Believe me. I am a lesbian who is constantly pushing their sapphic ships everywhere.

But you can't expect people to suddenly stop posting about the achillean ships they enjoy just because they're more popular than YOUR favorite ships. Is it bothersome that achillean ships get more attention for the sole reason of being a male pairing while sapphic ships get ignored or not even suggested? Yeah!!!! It's frustrating.

But if you want some change in the amount of content you see then it's YOUR fight only and others should be allowed to post whatever they like. If you want to post only sapphic ships or you're bothered by them being talked in the same light as achillean ones, then it's YOUR choice to make.

Fandom is NOT activism!!! Fandom is meant to be enjoyed in whatever way you want. Fandom is to interpret media in your own way. So, honestly, if I want to make a simple post comparing two ships I like, why should I be trying to defend myself here for that? If people don't like it, then they can just block me, scroll, move on, etc.

To think a post about comparing fictional ships is insensitive is insane to me, tbh.

When you really think about it, some of these new shounen shows like JJK, BNHA and Demon Slayer are lowkey as bad as older shoenen shows when it comes to how they treat their female characters.

The only difference is that new shounen learned this neat trick where they will allow their female characters to have one epic moment in a side-fight that can easily be removed without effecting the plot too much and somehow that’s enough to gaslight people to think that they’re watching peak feminism.

#did any female character do anything relevant to the plot in JJK?#the only thing I can think of is Nobara helping Itadori in that one fight #but he's the main character so even if she wasn't there I'm sure he would have still won somehow #Demon Slayer has invented the concept of infantilization when it comes to Nezuko #and boy is infantilization the right word because they literally treat her like an infant #and every other female character are either nurses who tend to the male characters or had romance teased with the MC #oh and those 3 wives that need to be rescued......I think one of them helped a little #and BNHA? Where can I begin...#wake me up when the female lead does or say anything that isn't related to the male lead #btw I actually I really love all of these 3 shows but come on a spade is a spade

i go back and forth a lot on my interpretations of ats s5, ie. what parts of spike are 'in character' or not, but the one thing that stays constant is my belief that spike and angel fucking would have fixed most of this.

#not that it would have fixed their problems i just mean it would introduce new problems that i would find entertaining as a viewer #anyways i don't like saying a character would NOT say/do that but sometimes i'm not sure if he (spike) SHOULD do that #in terms of showing off the more interesting parts of a character while also carving out a unique arc/dynamic for him on a new tv show #ats rw #i think what's misunderstood about spike is that he's NOT a solo sigma male lone vigilante bad boy action hero #like i think angel is actually the one who has a history of isolating himself #but spike is your friend who always has to be in a relationship (which i think btvs got correct with harmony)#idk. i think oz has that line in btvs where he's like 'i gotta go do that guy thing where i isolate myself now'#and i think that gets transposed onto spike when he goes on the 'guy show' doing 'guy things'#and then kinda blended up with the tension that many of the guys on ats experience between #being a tough guy capable of doing things on his own versus the desire to belong in a crew #but like. that's not a 'guy' thing that applies to all men. that's a thing that certain individuals experience. and spike is not one of the #like i don't think spike cares about how he fits in with society or the collective but i think he DOES care about how individuals #he's close to perceive him #anyways. today on 'reading too much into a tv show that stopped airing 20 years ago'#i gotta make a separate post about this #buffyposting

Jumping off an earlier post I wrote hours ago, while I agree yes, "this story doesn't have well written female characters" is totally true and real for some stories, I also think that some people will throw this in as an excuse just to focus only bad attention on female characters.

Like, they never point on the positives of those female characters while also acting as if all the male characters have perfect writing when they don't.

Sometimes, I do feel like this is just some projecting their possible interalized misogyny.

Male characters can get the pass of being badly written because they can get love anyways and the writer doesn't have to work hard to do better for them.

Female characters, no no! Nothing about their writing is good! The writer is misogynistic! Do better and maybe I'll like the female characters!

It's giving "boys will be boys" and "girls have to learn to be acceptable by doing better" energy.

Again, I agree that some female characters, especially in stories geared towards a male audience, aren't written all that well.

But it's not always the statement I go for or will agree with when the people who will say this don't have this same energy for male characters and will love those flawed male characters regardless. No, I won't believe you for saying those female characters are badly written when you can't admit the same for your male fave.

#this is the gripe i do have with some people in two certain fandoms #y'all complain about nobara not getting a lot of screen time after shibuya or how yuki was too powerful and so on and so forth #and say these are the reasons why you can't take to those female characters #but then characters like hakari exists and y'all damn sure stay being fans of todo #oh okay then #the bare minimum can work for you for male characters but the female characters have to have perfect writing #like i want better writing for female characters too but darn...#just kiya's thoughts
