I saw the post about using blokada to block tumblr live on Android, and then you mentioned blocking domains. How do I block domains?

When you install Blokada 5 and launch it, there should be four tabs at the bottom of the screen. The 2nd-left tab has a symbol of three vertical bars, and when you tap on it, says Activity. From here you can view all the domains your phone is trying to connect to. Any domain that you see in green, you can tap on to add it to the Blocked list.

If you launch Tumblr then go back to the Blokada Activity tab, you should see all the domains it's trying to connect to, including ones like "auth.gateway.tumblr-live.com" (yes, your phone connects to this whenever you launch Tumblr, even if you never open the Tumblr Live page). Tap those suckers and block them! (and if they scroll out of view too quickly, use the search 🔍 at the top of the screen to filter for "tumblr" and you should see them all again.)

hey theres a new flashing ad on tumblr for some kinda band, its on mobile and is unreportable due to being a scroll past kinda ad, it starts showing a guy on a stage with a guitar from behind before showing a short bit of intense strobing

thank you for the warning! little late of a response but i appreciate it so much. its so fucked how awful tumblr is with dangerous ads. even with autoplay off, its a solid coin flip in if it works at all, if itll apply to tumblrs pushed posts or features, and if itll work for any ads. i mostly stopped using this site because of it (and the social anxiety but staying on topic..) since my stress and health issues has been so high and it makes me more sensitive to something thats just too unpredictable

I added about 200,000 more rules to my network’s DNS filter list and now I get zero ads on tumblr mobile at all. It’s amazing.

you have no idea how much i fucking despise google i spent multiple fucking hours earlier getting out my old-ass pi and setting up pi-hole to have network-wide ad blocking only to just now realize that it hasnt done shit despite saying it has because apparently when i changed the dns settings on google fiber according to ipconfig the wifi goes through default dns even though i know i put the pis ip in and i cant fix it now because i already signed out of my moms account on the google home app and i cant get back in because its 1 in the fucking morning and she isnt awake to do 2fa on her phone and oh yeah did i mention its through a FUCKING APP google fiber forces you to use an APP to change settings and if you try to do anything on a website or go to the router ip its just "just download our app!!!! :3" which is so fucking stupid how am i supposed to do complex wifi shit on a fucking APP LET ME USE A WEBSITE LIKE EVERY OTHER ROUTER IN FUCKING EXISTENCE so now im stuck at 1:30AM wanting to fix the thing i spent hours on but i cant do shit because google fucking hates its users and wont let me just connect to the fucking ip with admin credentials to change settings i need a fucking google account on a fucking app and it doesnt let you connect one router to more than one account
