PERSONALITY

Estelle is am observant, diligent, knowledgeable, and talented woman. She always keeps her guard up and analyzes every nook n' cranny of her surroundings and also some intel that she have acquired in her possession. In the safehouse, Estelle can be seen looking at the newspapers and files for their next missions. As a cyber operations officer, she can forsee the offensive and defensive cyberspace operations.

While she is involved in missions with the crew she tasked her other cyber operators to keep in touch with the other adversaries. Others says that Estelle looks like a person that could kill due to her "relaxed" face, but she is rather open to any conversations. However, no one likes to get into her bad side as she can make someone disappear from making her angry (which is a very exaggerating description of her anger.)

On the other hand, Estelle never reveals her loved ones for safety measures and protection of her family. Even a hint of her profile, she keeps it hidden from others, unless they can be trusted.

BIOGRAPHY

A woman of determination and perseverance, Estelle was born to be the person who was being looked up into and feared by her enemies. She is the second child among the 6 children of the Gerardo Family. As a young child, Estelle can be seen as responsible around the house and the bakery that her family owns. Although, some children around the province wouldn't dare to make Estelle angry due to how hostile she gets when it comes to hurting her or her other siblings, but she is a loving daughter and older sister to her loved ones.

Estelle strives to achieve her goals in life, especially living life with financial stability, a roof to stay on, needs and wants present, and so on. She became an achiever during highschool and got a scholarship abroad (in the US). It wasn't easy for her to live in a foreign country, considering she was born and raised in a province as she tries to adjust within the new life she's living in. Estelle continues to finish college with good grades before she can join the CIA as an cyber operations officer. At first it was a struggle for Estelle, but she perseveres until she gets used to her job. With the Cold War still ongoing, Estelle makes sure she gets to contribute for the agency and for the country.

There she met Hudson around the late 70s and introduces her to Mason, Woods, and Adler before she starts to help them during missions by providing intel, espionage, and attending through missions. During the early 80s, she joined Adler's crew to stop Perseus' plans, but she is not happy and trusting Adler's decision of bringing one of Perseus' men to be used for Project MK Ultra, turning "her" into Bell. Furthermore, she has trust issues with their new member "Feliks Zaitsev" who is an ex-KGB agent that is somehow working with the CIA.

After the events of Solovetsky, Estelle continues to go on missions of saving Adler from Stitch together with the other operators involved. On the other hand, Estelle gets to marry Lazar and has 4 children with her. During the 90s, she works with Woods to aid the newcomers for another chaotic mission they will embark from this new chapter.

The real wreck of the Demeter- the Dmitri

I had assumed Bram Stoker had holidayed in Whitby and looked it up today and found that not only had he done so, but that the fate of the Demeter was based upon a real Russian ship, the Dmitri, which survived a storm but ran aground in Whitby in 1885.

From the Leeds Mercury newspaper 26th October 1885: 'SEVERE GALE . . . WHITBY. A storm of great violence visited the north-east coast on Saturday, accompanied by torrents of rain . . . About an hour after the stranding of the MARY AND AGNES, another vessel was sighted a few miles out flying signals of distress. The gale was then at its height, and the sea even more dangerous than before. Another lifeboat, the HARRIOTT PORTEATH, was got out. A little excitement prevailed among the thousands of people on shore, for it seemed certain that if the vessel was cast upon the rocks she would be immediately dashed to pieces and the crew drowned. The craft, however, steered straight for the port, and by good seamanship got into the harbour safely. She proved to be the Russian brigantine DMIRTY [sic].' 

From the North-Eastern Daily Gazette 26th October 1885:

'The Russian which succeeded in getting into Whitby harbour so gallantly on Saturday afternoon afterwards, unfortunately, ran into Colliers' Hope. Efforts were made to get her off, without success, but it was hoped that she would rise with the next tide, and the crew remained on board. Yesterday morning, however, the sea beat savagely against the vessel. Her masts gave way and fell with a crash over her side, and the vessel herself began to break up. She will be sold as a wreck. This morning the wind had gone down considerably, and the sea was much less heavy.' "

From the Northern Echo 27th October 1885:

"'Yesterday, at Whitby, the storm had considerably abated, there being little wind and a comparatively smooth sea. The Russian vessel DIMITRI, which so gallantly entered the harbour on Saturday in spite of the terrible sea afterwards ran ashore in Collier's Hope. It was supposed that she would be safe here, but on the rise of the tide yesterday morning, the seas beat over her with great force. Her masts fell with a terrific crash, and the crew were obliged to abandon her. She is now a complete wreck. The vessel was bound from Antwerp to Newcastle, with silver sand as ballast. She was not insured."

From the Whitby Gazette 31st October(!) 1885, recounting the whole story:

"A little later in the afternoon a schooner was descried to the south of the harbour, outside the rocks. Her position was one of great danger; for being evidently unable to beat off, there seemed nothing for it but to be driven among the huge breakers on the scar. Her commander was apparently a man well acquainted with his profession, for with consummate skill he steered his trim little craft before the wind, crossing the rocks by what is known as the ‘sledway’ and bringing her in a good position for the harbour mouth. 'The piers and the cliffs were thronged with expectant people, and the lifeboat ‘HARRIOT FORTEATH’ was got ready for use in case the craft should miss the entrance to the harbour and be driven on shore. When a few hundred yards from the piers she was knocked about considerably by the heavy seas, but on crossing the bar the sea calmed a little and she sailed into smooth water. A cheer broke from the spectators on the pier when they saw her in safety. 'Two pilots were in waiting, and at once gave instruction to those on board, but meanwhile the captain not realising the necessity of keeping on her steerage, allowed her to fall off and lowered sail, thus causing the vessel to swing towards the sand on the east side of the harbour. On seeing this danger the anchor was dropped, but they found no hold and she drifted into Collier’s Hope and struck the ground. She purported to be the schooner ’DMITRY’ of Narva, Russia, Captain Sikki, with a crew of seven hands, ballasted with silver sand. During the night of Saturday the men worked incessantly upon her that her masts went by the board and on Sunday morning, she lay high and dry a broken and complete wreck, firmly embedded in the sand.' "

So here we have the ship here, making its way safe to the harbour in a difficult storm, only to still be wrecked upon the following day upon the sands.

There was a suggestion in the Guardian newspaper that the story had even been told at Whitby of a black dog being seen leaping from the ship and running up to the churchyard!

I thought it was interesting seeing how they reported on the real incident, and to imagine that the people of Whitby would have recognised the ship and its fate from the description. Thankfully, from what I can see nobody seems to have died in the real wreck of the Dmitri.

So like at first I was going to not make faer a clown, but ummmmm no <3

Raz being from the circus doesn't have to mean shit. Fae isn't even technically a circus clown, Dmitry is a jester. Dmirty used to entertain the king of a neighboring country to Grulovia, but like most things in psychonauts characters backstories: this didn't fucking last nor did it end well.

Dmitry had technically been working as a jester since fae was really little, like 5 years old kind of little. It was when fae was a preteen that faers latent psychic abilities finally all came to a head. What exactly happened is shrouded in mystery, but fae was recruited by the psychonauts. This was pre-battle of Grulovia, and fae was specifically recruited by Ford and Helmut.

Being a young, queer psychic with no idea what was happening: Helmut making himself a figure in faers life early was great! A fellow queer psychic who was doing alright! SHAME HE DIED THEN HUH?

Now, Helmut wasn't dead-dead, but nobody back then knew that. This actually makes faer one of my older s/is in comparison to the f/o they're shipped with, since fae was maybe 15 or so when the Psychic Six were in their prime (and I'm not sure how the math works out, but I think that would make faer OLDER than Sasha.)

That doesn't entirely matter though. Dmitry demonstrably has a "work mode," or an "agent mode," or just a "not silly mode-mode" that fae is in all day for work. In this mode, Dmitry pretends to be a functioning adult. Then there's silly mode, which is where fae dons the only attire that makes sense and acts the fool for shits. Despite the way everything went down, Dmitry has never felt at home as an agent--fae felt much more at home as a jester, a fool, a clown!

Sasha and faers relationship technically started with being assigned to the same missions, but they formed a "someone will die--of fun" dynamic very quickly outside of work. Dmitry first was in silly mode in front of him after a lot of already interacting, fae didn't want to scare him off. The fact Sasha tolerates silly mode should speak to how close they already were.

To some extent, Sasha admires faers ability to so easily tap into faers inner child, 100% an extension of faers specific psychic specialties. In the same vein, Dmitry admires Sasha's restraint, having no idea how it comes so naturally to him.

Well, about Dmitry's death… I don't really remember that Felix even mentions his death at all in his memoir - the last mention, as far as I remember, was Dmitry's marriage in 1925, that's all. However, they must have seen each other after their big quarrel in 1920 at least once. Maybe it is a little bit late to write, more than three years later, but I think very few people know about this fact and I feel a need to tell somebody about it. And I just came across this post, so… On one French auction's site I saw a lot - a guest book from Felix's residence in the citadel of Calvi in Corsica. (there is a link if you want to check https://www.coutaubegarie.com/lot/77850/6477067-livre-dor-du-prince-youssoupof ) And there, in this guest book, is Dmitry's signature. (The auction itself claims that it is his signature, and it's really similar to one that I saw once and that was definitely Dmitry's.)

Here, this is the one I had before - clearly says "The Grand Duke Dmitry Pavlovich", somewhen before the revolution.

And this is the signature in the guest book, in the top left corner, just "Dmitry". Look kinda similar, right? Also there is a date, 27.09.1934. Eight years before Dmitry's death. And no sign of his sister or anyone whom he could just accompany. So, he was there by himself. That's it. I was just glad to know that they didn't lost the contact completely. All that big strange conflict around gossips in 1920 felt so tragic to me due to the fact that Dmirty already lost so much just in a few years at that point… So I love to think that they reconciled before the end. That Dmitry didn't die being mad at the one who meant a lot to him (at least at some point).

y'all, is there anything on the internet about felix yusupov's feelings about grand duke dmitri's death? i never found anything, maybe it's because of the region I'm in while searching for this- might use a vpn to find different results.

ik they already had stopped talking by the time dmitri died (i mean they supposedly stopped talking in 1920, and dmitri died 22 years after that or something), but still, felix wrote about him in a complimentary manner in Lost Splendour, which i assume was written after they stopped talking too?? idk i am going on a tangent lol
