So I had been curious on if Lady's volume of the DMC 3 Manga had been completed or not, I've never really been able to find a source of the matter, but it seems we have confirmation.

There we have it. It was completed. I will live the rest of my life in agony, knowing it's out there but I myself will never read it. I'll see a variation of it it seems sure, but I'll never see the actual thing. I'll never know exactly what was portrayed there. I'll just never get to read it even though it's out there and it hurts me man.

A real fear I have is that the new DMC anime might ruin the community. I know everybody has the right to witness Dante and his awesomeness. But I don't know .... I'm lil scared about incel and red pills joining the community. Like I don't want to see people making Dante out like some sexist women hater or what not. As things on Netflix can get quite popular with lots of viewership. It has already ruined many anime like the Berserk community and what not. The DMC community has been great so far. Is my fear genuine? Or am I being very close minded?

One thing I like about DMC is the parallels they sneak in where at first you may not think it is...but the more you think about it...

Like the scene in 3 with Arkham is essentially Vergil's first big footsteps into hunting for his father's power years later after the tragedy he endured. He's looking for a way to grab that power, and here comes Arkham to begin to properly set him on the path that builds up the domino effect that THEN sets up the rest of the suffering he has to endure. From his clash with his twin, to his defeat, then his attempted clash with Mundus that leads into his enslavement and weakening that sets the stage for DMC5 with the birth of V and Urizen.

Then, in Visions of V, the climax has it where V embraces Urizen and encounters essentially the form of his fears and weakness as his younger self. Of course, V is met with immediate act of aggression through instinct of self defense by his younger manifestation but he still is prompted to not show his special book to return to him, but also remind him that 'Power alone is not enough'.

That line alone has me thinking like....wow. A complete opposite to the context of the moment with Arkham, where there's the talk about power and the desire for it. The fact that its basically himself on the other side of his own sword in VoV telling him that is, to me, such an interesting display of character growth. I don't know if that moment in VoV was meant to reference the Arkham convo in 3, but I like to believe it was. Its so alike, that it'd be weird if it wasn't to me.

Here's another cheeky one I like too, by the way.

The very night that Vergil reclaims Yamato and heads home to split himself into V and Urizen has a full moon. JUST like the very night when Vergil first defeated Dante that would eventually lead into the escalation of 3's plot and even having an ironic callback in 5 that would lead into Dante unlocking his Sin Devil Trigger.

One's a moment of victory over his twin brother, asserting his power. The other? A moment of reflection of losses that haunt him to this day, reminding him of the weakness he's desperately trying to chase away. The said desperation that peaks his desire for power and pushes him to believe abandoning his humanity is a benefit.

Of course, these thoughts still haunts him even as V (and especially Urizen, but I've mentioned that before) to the point where he reflects over it a few times. I often talk about these moment in VoV, but its just...man. One of the best things we got for DMC. A good addition for Vergil's character and essentially the icing ontop of the cake for 5 alongside the Before the Nightmare novel. There's several things it calls back to for Vergil's journey subtle or not. I hope we get more content like it in the future (maybe even have VoV localized officially), alongside games of course.

Mundus had intended to make the Underworld and the Human World one by cutting off their barrier.

Maybe this was Mundus's attempt to "impress"/taunt Sparda before his outright rebellion. "Oh you like these humans so much? Allow me to make these worlds one so you can always be by their sides. My gift to you, Sparda, my gallant knight."

And Sparda "hold no grudges against his own kind", meaning Sparda did what was right. To save the humans.

He has heightened sense of everything thanks to his demonic heritage…and you wanted to make him go crazy by doing nothing. Well, not exactly nothing, but he won't be able to tell, right?

So the plan was in action. You got out of shower sprayed some perfume on your neck, wrist, and some spots on your body. You put on the simplest clothes to not give him any chance of coming up with excuse that you were tempting him. You wanted him to lose his mind. So you walked down in your simple black tee and black cargo. You sat on the red leather couch and started to go through some paperwork. Dante was on his chair, a magazine on his face. Just a little sniff and his eyes were in a slit, he frowned and looked around. You acted normal but god, you were snickering on the inside… Dante stood up and walked up to you…he sneaked behind his nose close to your neck…a sniff and then soft kisses on your neck. You hummed, “Dante, what's gotten into you…? Are you in heat?” Dante shook his head, frustration evident in his voice, “I am not sure…babe… I just need you…doll…come here." Dante picked you up and threw you over his shoulder. You squeaked, and he spanked your ass…you laughed, “Dante?!” Dante took you upstairs and deposited you on the bed…he kicked of his boots, slid of his coat and peeled his Hensley off in a second… Dante voice was urgent, “No time to explain, babe…” You can hear his labored breathing. Dmc 3 Dantes design is AMAZING in a storytelling aspect but does NOT work outside of dmc3 AND I’M SICK OF SEEING IT USED IN CROSSOVER MEDIAS !!!!!!

Dante has always been one for over the top outfits and designs. In the dmc1 novel one of the first sentences is talking about how Dante is flamboyant. At the end of dmc3 we see he has his dmc1 outfit on with all the layers and vest and everything. NOT shirtless.

At the start of dmc3 bro was getting out of the shower, like you hear the water and the shower faucet. You see the water droplets and steam coming off of Dante. And when he answers the phone he says the shop isn’t open yet. Dude was having a lazy day.

Dante did not have time to put on a shirt, he wasn’t planning on going out anywhere or doing anything, he was just eating pizza and chilling. I see SO MANY people (including cannon media like the dmc3 manga) just assume he regularly does not wear a shirt…. like he does! he just didn’t have time to put one on before Arkhams bitchass showed up with his demons.

Don’t even get me started on those pants…. light brown has never been a part of Dante’s color scheme so light brown pants definitely seem weird right? Also he had no belt despite clearly needing one.

Like look at this render, you can see how far his hip is from his pants. He probably just threw on some old pair without thinking about it. And with no belt too, every other version of Dante has at LEAST one belt. So seeing Dante in light brown pants, alone with no belt is definitely strange.

Yet it WORKS SO WELL for the overall design in 3. Reducing the amount of black in his color scheme to better focus on the red and establish him as a much lighter character compared to Vergil ties in perfectly with the dark reflection trope Vergil and Dante play into.

The most iconic thing about Dantes design has always been that red coat. No argument there. So taking away the rest of Dantes more extravagant parts of his design to better focus on the coat is perfect especially for dmc3. Another thing that ties back into the dark reflection trope of Dantes and Vergil is that cutting down on Dantes design makes Vergil and Dantes personalities reflect in their designs so much more. Vergil is very well kept, with a much more complicated outfit and slicked back hair. So Dante being the opposite of that with a lack of shirt, pants that don’t match, no belt, etc. (while still being flamboyant with that red coat) shows their differences in maturity.

You look at this guy and you KNOW he put so much time and effort into his look. He exudes elegance and effort. Meanwhile Dante’s just thrown on a coat and called it a day.

My point is. This design is great for the storytelling aspect of dmc3 as well as the symbolism and metaphors in dmc3. However, we know Dante doesn’t usually dress like this. He wears shirts. So I get personally annoyed when I see Dante portrayed as that one dude who never wears a shirt. I head cannon that around the shop when he has nothing planned he won’t wear a shirt (saves money on the water bill cuz less laundry) but if he plans to go out or have the shop open or whatever, he’s putting on the full fit. Shirt, belt, coat, and plenty of other accessories.
