Halloween-craft anyone?
It's a tea candle holder and I used an old glass for this. The ghosts are painted with a layer of glow in the dark paint. This was really funny and the first time I tried to combine glass with polymer clay - which is indeed not the easiest to do.

Spice Up Your Apartment: Seasonal Decorating Ideas for Small Spaces
As the seasons change, so can your apartment’s vibe. Don’t settle for the same old décor when you can freshen your space with a touch of each season’s flair. Let’s dive into seasonal decorating ideas for small spaces that’ll keep your apartment looking novel and nice!
Month by Month, Make It Pop
Why stick to one theme when you can have 12? Each month brings its own unique charm, so let your apartment reflect that. Swap out a few key pieces to keep things fresh—no need to overhaul the entire place. For example:
October Happy Harvest: In addition to the usual orange pumpkins, paint some in shades of matte black, deep plum and gold. Add a touch of the unexpected by filling glass jars with dried flowers, sticks and spices.
November Gathering Table: Use a wooden tray filled with faux antlers, scented pinecones and rustic candle holders as a centerpiece. Complement this with earthy-toned table linens and a few strategically placed faux fur accents.
December Winter Wonderland: String white paper snowflakes across windows and fill clear glass vases with branches dipped in white paint, along with a few simple Scandinavian-style star ornaments. For a unique twist, hang floating tea lights from ceiling hooks to create an ethereal effect.
DIY Your Way to Décor Bliss
Nothing says “home sweet home” like decorations you’ve made yourself. They’re a great way to personalize your space without breaking the bank. Ideas include:
Unusual Wreaths: Welcome people to your space with a one-of-a-kind wreath. Think a black cat or candy wreath for Halloween or use fall-inspired materials like feathers or leaves.
Mason Jar Lanterns: For a warm, inviting glow, fill mason jars with fairy or tea lights and line them along counters or windowsills. For autumn, add dried leaves and tiny pumpkins inside. For winter, swap these out for fake snow and mini pinecones.
Fabric-covered Pumpkins and Acorns: Use old sweaters or scarves to wrap pumpkins of all sizes. Create the cutest accents by doing the same with acorns—just cut fabric down to size, wrap and glue if needed. It’s an easy, no-sew project that adds a textured and unexpected look.
Make Every Inch Count
Balancing your love for seasonal decorations with the reality of apartment living can be a bit tricky. The key? Keep it simple. Choose seasonal decorating ideas that don’t overwhelm your space.
Go vertical by stacking three different pumpkin sizes on top of each other. Hang seasonal art on your walls, like framing a piece of fabric (or wrapping paper) in the season’s colors. It’s easy to switch out seasonally and it adds a pop of personality.
Store it Away, Save it for Another Day
Once each season’s over, you’ll need a smart storage solution. Breathable fabric storage bags with clear labels for easy identification are ideal. Use these to store smaller items like ornaments, garlands or candle holders, and hang them in your closet for easy access.
Sliding drawers that fit under your bed or couch are perfect to store larger items like pillows, blankets, tablecloths or wreaths. These drawers make it easy to pull out seasonal items without hassle. Or, use vacuum-sealed bags to reduce those items’ sizes and store them flat under your bed or the top shelf of your closet.
Small Space, Festive Place
Grab a pumpkin spice latte and get going with these seasonal decorating ideas for small spaces. Your apartment deserves to look as spicy as the season itself!

Unique Halloween Stuff to Gift This Year
Finding the perfect Halloween stuff to gift someone can be a fun challenge. Whether it’s for a friend who loves spooky season or a family member who enjoys decorating, there’s a wide range of gifts available that are both festive and thoughtful.
One of the best types of Halloween gifts you can give is something for their home. Halloween homeware makes for an excellent present, especially for those who love entertaining or hosting during the spooky season. You can find everything from skull-themed table settings to jack-o’-lantern-shaped mugs that add a touch of Halloween fun to any kitchen. Halloween wine glasses, themed platters, or festive serving bowls are also great ideas for the person who loves to entertain.
For those who enjoy a bit of humour, consider giving them quirky or personalised Halloween gifts like funny skeleton figurines, spooky socks, or even novelty Halloween candles. These items are sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face while still celebrating the Halloween spirit.
If you’re looking for something a bit more unique, think about getting them some Halloween homeware that they wouldn’t typically buy for themselves. Gothic-style cutlery or candle holders, elegant Halloween-themed throws, or even a spooky door mat can make for an exciting and stylish gift. These items are practical yet full of Halloween flair, making them the perfect balance between useful and fun.
Another fun idea is to create a Halloween-themed gift basket. Fill it with small Halloween gifts like candles, mugs, and sweets. You could also include DIY cookie kits or spooky hot chocolate mixes to give the recipient something they can enjoy throughout the season. Pair the basket with a spooky card, and you’ve got the perfect Halloween surprise.
No matter who you’re buying for, giving Halloween stuff as gifts is a great way to embrace the festive spirit and share it with others. Whether you opt for fun and playful or eerie and elegant, Halloween-themed gifts are always a hit.

Sustainable Halloween Decor that will be Relevant After Halloween
We should all have a more sustainable approach to this time of year. Collections of itty bitty things that are annoying to store, reuse and hard to match with current decor just collect dust. Festive seasons such as halloween decor are where waste and unnecessary spending is at it’s highest. If you are looking for classy yet classic home decor ideas for Halloween then Interior Design Cambridge can help you out.
Here are a few tips on how to be sustainable this Halloween:
1. ADD LANTERNS TO YOUR DECOR TO GIVE A COZY YET SPOOKY FEEL
Why not include some vintage lanterns in your decor this halloween? Lighting is always important to create a spooky aesthetic – This year invest in nice lanterns that you can hang or place on the floor that will be useful for you as permanent decor in the house. This cast tall loop lanterns by Olivia’s is our favourite item to invest in this Halloween. Additionally, adding foliage, wreaths and garlands can help make your home feel decorated and be swapped in as charismas and fall decor also.
DIY TIP: To add an extra level of spook you can DIY an orange sticker filter onto your lanterns glass which can easily be peeled off once halloween is over.
2. INSTEAD OF CARVING, LOOK INTO PUMPKIN PAINTING THIS YEAR
Forget about the messy and time-consuming task of pumping carving this year and try something different. Paint your pumpkins ? Here are the rules:
It’s important to stick to picking three core colours. The most popular colours this season are brown-ochre, warm neutrals and bold reds which make an interesting combination for the base of your halloween decor ideas. Buy paint samples from a close by paint shop. If you live in Cambridge, Farrow and Ball have paint sample for £5.50 that would be perfect for this particular thing! If you pop into the showroom they have physical samples of all of their current range of colours – you can see how they would look paired together.
Colours we picked out from their range are:
1. London Stone by Farrow and Ball 2. Rectory Red by Farrow and Ball 3. Indian Yellow by Farrow and Ball
3. DECORATE WITH CANDLES
It’s simple. Candles can be romantic or spooooky. For halloween it important to keep the the decor simple yet impactful. If you choose to use candles in your decor then go all out; bring out all the tea light and pillar candles you own. If you don’t already have some, you can invest in some beautiful taper candles with a candle holder. It is a decor item that will serve you all year round. For example, look at this beautiful candle by Curious Egg.
4. BE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR MORE UNIQUE HALLOWEEN DECOR
Etsy has vast options for halloween decor that give a “homemade feel” without having to get the glue gun out. Have a scroll on what you might be able to find on there. We had our team at Interior Design Cambridge pick out their favourite halloween decor items. You can easily use some of these item later on in you table scapes or rising on you fireplace mantle in the long-term.
PICK ONE – Pumpkin Candles PICK TWO – Personalised Decor PICK THREE – Honeycomb Pumpkins
in essence, ditch the plastic cheap decorates that you store in the attic to only bring out once a year and look at smarter decor options that will be relevant all year round.
