its a shame that scientology is the name of a rich person cult and not a really cool religion that thinks of scientific equations and laws of physics as a celestial language that allows us to understand the universe and the energies of wind and gravity and that the forces that act on the world around us are holy and curiosity to learn about them is holy and being a scholar learning to fight against them and work with them and discover new ones makes you a prophet. or whatever

Related to the last post, I haven't said anything because I need to sit with it and see how Ashton responds in the long-term, but man, it's got to be absolutely earth-shattering (pun genuinely unintended, I can't come up with a better word for it) to be so angry at the concept of fate, or at how the gods never helped you, and then see a vision of the version of you where things went "well" and realize that in that version of the world, you fucking sucked.

actually it's. interesting to me the way clerics and paladins exist in naddpod. because divine magic isn't really ever about the divinity of it. it's about the devotion.
i'm going to loop back to beverly bc he's the most classic paladin naddpod has. but like. alright. you have erlin, who becomes a cleric not to serve pelor but to help people. he's so dedicated to bev, he wants to help the people he loves, and that's the way to do it. because he's not strong in the traditional sense, but he can be strong this way.
you have fia, who's a cleric because of her religious upbringing but mostly calls upon the trickster for her magic and if you really think about it the thing she is most devoted to isn't the trickster at all but irina. you have tarragon who becomes a cleric in repentance for her days as a soldier, but all of her cleric stuff manifests in dedication to her friends, to the bond they share.
and you have callie, who-- once she's freed from her tie to mothership-- has a paladin oath that is about her dedication to the wild and the serpents and her promise to help bring them home. her belief in and love and hope for them. and the idea that if she does she might redeem the memory of her mother.
and like. bev. who is very tied to pelor and the light. his oath morphs and changes with his worldview, and the way his powers manifest reflects what he cares about. in the end, when pelor is dead, he doesn't swear himself to another god. he swears himself to bahumia. the thing he's devoted to, the thing he's trying to protect.
it's like... divine casters aren't magical because some god chose them. it's because they chose to care. it's because they chose to look at something and say i am going to care about this so much that it becomes a source of strength.

I find it very satisfying that Zorian's own choices are what lead to his involvement in the plot.
Zach's meddling may have saved Zorian's life in the initial barrage, but it's Zorian's decision to search for Akoja that tangles their fates together. If Zach had his way Zorian would have been "safe" at the shelters by time Quatach-Ichl showed up, but Zorian strikes out to repay the debt he feels he owes Akoja by driving her into danger and winds up at the right place at the right time. He never would have been partially soul melded to Zach if he had been callous enough or lacking in courage enough to abandon Akoja.
On top of that, he makes a second decision to prioritize someone else's life over his own safety when he let's go of the teleport rod to push Zach out of the way of Quatach-Ichl's attack. Granted, he had to react in a split second and had no time to deliberate, but his first instinct was to protect Zach rather than ensure his own escape.
Amusingly, Zach complains that Zorian let go of the rod while Zorian fires back that Zach would be dead if he hadn't done that. He doesn't seem to regret his choice at all, even if it means that he himself is still in danger.
Zack comments multiple times that trying to keep Zorian alive is a chore, and it occurs to me that the main reason Zorian didn't become involved in the loops years earlier is precisely because Zorian is so difficult to keep alive during the invasion. It wasn't until Zach successfully and naturally got Zorian to attend the dance that the dominoes start falling. Only by saving Zorian does Zach inadvertently open the door for Zorian to enter the stage and drastically change the trajectory of events, eventually saving Zach in turn.
Only when Zorian is alive and free to act completely within his own nature, both driving Akoja away and subsequently trying to rescue her, is he elevated to a protagonist role.

As DIVINE INFLUENCER prepares to debut on Great American Family, the movie’s cast and crew are reminiscing about what it was like to work on the project.
On an episode of “The Women in My World” podcast, star Lara Silva (THE CHOSEN) shared, “Before I audition…I just always pray that God uses me and [that] who I am and what I am is enough. I just remember God was so clear; He was like, ‘Who you are is enough,’ so that was just the confidence that I needed to bring Olivia to life.”
Silva played Olivia Golden, “a wealthy 20-something influencer [who] loses financial support from her parents and takes a job at a homeless shelter for the wrong reasons. However, she soon discovers the true meaning of influence,” per IMDb.
The actress spoke about how important it was for her to work on a movie with important themes, saying, “It’s just about how can we send a message that will touch the heart and hopefully change hearts and actually really, truly learn what it means to influence and to serve others.”
Princess Elmore, who played Chef Zara, was equally excited about taking on the project, saying, “It was amazing. I thought it was a true blessing.”
“Just to be able to portray Zara was such a blessing to me because she was just a person that was always trying to make people feel better, and the way that she did that was using the gift that God had given her to spread to others,” she continued.
Claire Yorita Lee, who served as a writer and producer on DIVINE INFLUENCER, discussed the collaborative nature of the movie.
“Every actor that comes in — I think every layer, it’s really like the body of Christ,” she explained. “Every layer, everyone brings their gifts and as you layer each person, each actor, each director…each piece really makes it something even better.”
In an interview with Crosswalk, DIVINE INFLUENCER’s director, Shari Rigby, talked about the message the movie has for younger viewers.
“How can we use social media to do things better? How can we actually show the fruits of the Spirit through social media? First, by loving God. Second, by loving others,” she shared. “It’s not that [Olivia] loses her influence. It’s not that she puts it all away. She actually realizes after being influenced by others that she can do it better. And that’s what we hope people walk away and take from.”
Rigby continued, “This movie is for everyone. So, everyone that watches this movie: Influence better, do it in your community and love others, like you want to be loved and treated. That’s the overall message.”
DIVINE INFLUENCER will premiere on Great American Family Aug. 31 at 8/7c.
DIVINE INFLUENCER won Movieguide®’s Epiphany Prize® for Most Inspiring TV or Streaming Movie or Program at this year’s Movieguide® Awards.

i’ve spent too long being sad so i will never stop myself from being a lovergirl or getting excited about things on main or letting everything be the best thing ever. life is short, so why would i hold myself back from expressing or participating in joy just because someone else finds it silly to be emotional? why would i waste my time curating away the wonder that it is to feel and to love?

i might be reading too much into this, but I was thinking about how in RnS the paladin Lady in Blue cried ink when the Saint of (Ink and Something? I forgot. Paper?) spoke through her, and also in the confession ficlet, there was the detail about how, under the helmet, Blade was probably crying blood when he was essentially a vessel for the Saint of Blood and Steel. So crying disturbing liquids is a thing in those scenarios.
The line bout Helsknight having the smell of divinity about him is going to haunt me for a long time, and it occurred to me to be worried he might cry blood at some point.
And then I remembered the Demon fight and how because of the face wounds, Helsknight had blood in his eyes. And IDK if that was intentional, but the red dialogue in that chapter was presumably the Saint of Blood and Steel, oh and also he saw them he freaking saw his Saint I am still not over that-
this fic has my brain going wild
I'm glad you're liking the fic so far! And all my strange Saint/God Worldbuilding!
Unfortunately I've taken a vow of silence, so I cannot tell you if you're reading too far into things or not.

hello everyone. bpd L speaks to me deeply and i have therefore gathered up this entirely unsolicited and non-comprehensive list of fics i’ve written where this characterization was to some degree relevant. some of them are serious and some of these truly are not. anyway. here we go.
stay: light and L are the most toxic kpop fans in the universe. i feel this one is probably more easily recognizable as a bpd light fic but it’s both of them
escape artist: in which L makes his way out of sachiko and soichiro’s bedroom after a delightful encounter
with love’s light wings did I o’erperch these walls: in which L seduces his professor, watari
agnus dei: in which L comes to visit beyond at the wammy house. this was extremely vital to his characterization To Me.
puppy dog: in which L, seeking a peculiar kind of reassurance, gives beyond a call.
