just saw an art from an artist who worked with sjm during acomaf, basically her work is the closestof the character's actual appearence, like, the anon who said sjm looked at natalie alyn lind for description, that is basically what happened, and in a cartoon style she made, lucien is kinda almost the same color as tamlin, and cassian and azriel are the same as rice.... it is all funny considering that in arts were they (except tamlin) are not "darker" some people complain about white washing...
also, gonna mention helion, bc he actually has a persian/iranian appearence, and there were people complaing with the official artist that she white washed him, in the official acotar coloring book... y'know, """"""""""""""""the official artist instead of drawning the character as my headcanon, no, she did as close as they are supposed be, that must be white washing!"""""""" like, people are so dumb
I hate when people hate on artists when they're just doing the best they can with the information given and what the author has said.
on that note, the issue comes down to what I call implied diversity. SJM almost never straight up says a character is a PoC, especially if they are a main character. She may describe someone's appearance one way, usually with flowery and ambiguous language then lets the fandom do the heavy lifting. She lets the fandom make the diversity.
Its why people attack artists for 'whitewashing' even if they are just doing their job. Because people read and interpret it how they like and canonize their perceptions. Its why there's so much skin color variation in Rhysand art (for example) ((it's also why there's so much discourse in this 'fandom' over characters in general but I digress))
Sjm is a bad author when it comes to writing diversity in her cast of characters, and when she tries its very halfhearted. People get their panties in a twist over everything in acotar. She fumbles writing cohesive characters (rhysand changing skin tones acotar-acomaf, tamlins whole character) but the majority of the 'fandom' can't handle discussion over that lmao.
anyway, kinda went off but yeah!! whitewashing is a serious issue when it comes to character art but it's a moot point in the acotar fandom because of sjm lmao.
#acotar#sjm critical#a court of thorns and roses#arson yaps#sorry this topic has just been bothering me these last few days as i work on my acotar-acomaf project#rhysand#diversity in books#fandom issues#acotar barely counts as a fandom. its more like a facebook group#one of the only fandoms you will get hate for liking a character and a crackship#its actually so unserious here#god forbid you try to have these talks with acotar dick riders#sarah j maas#anti acotar#im gonna get smited for tagging rhysand but i am talking about him so like. i need to filter my acc somehow#sjm#acotar critical

june pre transition going through alot of denial and internalized transphobia (esp on the meteor where she has a lot of time to herself) but eventually coming to terms with herself and transitioning with the help of jade. and shes like very self concious about herself at first cuz the transphobia and fear are still internalized. later she gets much more comfortable with herself and jade and gets the courage to be more out with people But shes faced with a lot of the same transphobia she worked so hard to deconstruct in her mind and her identity becomes a topic of debate ridiculously often when shes just trying to like. be around people in public or whatever. so shes just like. <_<
#projecting LOL#i read a fic the other night that was something like this and it made me tear up a little bit#because while it wasnt like my exact experience it was the same thing#where her existence is now a debate topic that comes up whether she wants it to or not#the way people tiptoe around junes identity by using her initials to be as uncontroversial as possible really really resonates with me#bc of the way others (and even i) have been about my identity as a lesboy#june egbert i love you people dont deserve you#we may not be the same but i understand you#id make comics or art about this perception of june but i dont wanna do anything ooc#i hc alot of the human kids as transfem so realistically they wouldnt like. tiptoe around her identity in the way hs fans do#same w the trolls#shrug#DIVERSITY LOSE: i cant project onto june because her friends are too accepting#fart

Tom: I can't see these letters
Me: man playing videogames when you're color blind must suck. Games really could be doing better when it comes to accessibility in general tbh
yeah I mean where I'm studying game design at least we're always pushed to have workarounds and/or features that make sure something like this doesn't happen but it still could be better yeah, I think puzzle games suffer from it the most even though I remember Tom also having a hard time with the kingdom hearts 1 hp bars though they've improved those
#live caita reaction: ambidex edition!#last project I made was gonna be very color theory dependent but it was very easy to make sure the shapes were equally diverse so as to not#hinder anyone's ability to know what's on screen so like#just a very present topic in my mind is all and other types of accessibility too definitely need to be discussed more#fucking someone made one that was so bad in this department last semester I can't get into it but I wish I could

People need to fucking chill and realize that sometimes things they enjoy are not made for them, so they need to stop demanding it suddenly becomes a thing for them
people discovering steven universe in 2023 are always like "this show is really good why the hell were yall so weird about it"
#YOU decided to watch a childrens cartoon so act like it.#you dont go into a book store takin out a book about the hungry caterpillar and complain that it has not enough worldbuilding#if you want adult media that follows adult media rules WATCH ADULT MEDIA#if you come into the kids play house you play by the kids play house rules#you dont go and say ''oh dora the explorer the show just has too much direct 4th wall breaking :/ and the villain never evolves!''#it really hit me when i had my third year project where we were given fairy tales and had to make a childrens play out of it#and we had to FOLLOW RULES!!!#One of my classmates feedback was that he needs to be careful with putting too much emphasis on wordplay#bc children at that age dont get something that intelectual#they react way more to physical comedy jokes#YOU DO NOT! GO INTO A CHILDRENS PLAY! AND COMPLAIN! ABOUT IT BEING BUILT! FOR CHILDREN!!!#its so sad bc steven universe and before that Korra and i believe there was another one i cant remember-#they FAUGHT TOOTH AND NAIL for their representation#your precious heartstopper and she-ra and whatever wouldn' t have had the chance if the shows prior didn't already bleed for their crumbs#i remember when tv wasnt so diverse and when 'crossdressing' and a character being gay were punchlines.#now it's different. and we should really appreciate and honor the things that have been built before us.#the line wasnt always there. it used to be far far far way on a different side. but it was inched ever so slightly bit by bit.#i got completely off topic and i am sorry i am just upset about these things#i never likrd the sudden surges of 'UM ACTUALLY THESE LIL PET PEEVES AND THINGS THAT THE CREATORS CAN NOT CONTEOL MAKE THIS BAD :/'#Bc you know they are made by people who are just looking with magnifying glasses to find anything so their dislike has some form of weight

AeternaNova Northern Macedonian ethnographic project
"AeternaNova" (in Latin "aeterna"- ancient and "nova"-new) is an exhibition of photographs, folk costumes, and an ethnographic film, curated by Filip Petkovski Ph.D., UNESCO-certified heritage expert. It aims to represent the cultural heritage of Macedonians, Albanians, Turks, Roma, and Vlachs living in North Macedonia, and to feature recorded personal narratives of the models on the photos who are leaders in their professions (actors, musicians, athletes, public figures), about their views and experiences with diversity and inclusion.
The project incorporates new media, ethnography, and visual anthropology to contextualise the topic, while each photograph serves as a visual narrative aimed to illustrate the dynamic evolution of cultural identity in the region. We are led by the idea that cultural heritage must be reinterpreted and modernised to be largely disseminated, especially amongst the younger population, who might mystify and reject the topic of cultural heritage. The exhibition will take place at the Youth Cultural Centre in Skopje, while the results of the project will be published as a research paper in the journal "Macedonian Folklore" in which we will explore diversity, inclusion, and peaceful coexistence.
The project aims to emphasise the similarities in the cultures of all of the communities that live in North Macedonia and encourages the audience to engage in a process of mutual learning and enrichment of knowledge related to cultural heritage."

Types of obnoxious batfam stans
Written by an obnoxious batfam stan
Not really a rant but something I've noticed over the years interacting in different spaces and I've decided to make your problem now.
Please note that I'm not saying there's any "right" way to be a fan because we all suck by virtue of being comic nerds, but there are certain kinds of batfamily fans that stick out to be in particular.
Anywho, here are 12 kinds of annoying batfam stans that you've probably run into and you better get a laugh out of it *points gun to your head*.
1) The Newbies Who Never Heard of Google
There's no shame in being new to something. It's a phase that we're all guaranteed to go through, whether we're 11 or 101. However, in this day and age, so many things can be easily googled that you don't need to shout every question you have into the VVorld VVide VVoid. If you need comic recs or a reading list, google it. If you wanna know a character's origin story, google it. If you need to know the color of Batman's underpants in a particular issue in 1965... well that's probably too specific for Google but Reddit will definitely have an answer.
2) The Middle School Authors
Before the 13-year-olds get up in my notes, I'm not saying everyone that age writes like this. Middle school is a state of mind. These fanfic writers usually stand out in a few ways.
They're oftentimes first-person POV or reader-insert. Give Y/N a break, she's tired.
The grammar is stunningly atrocious. I get if you're inexperienced or if you're writing in a second language, but we are in the prime era of autocorrect. If you need help, it's right there. Also, fuck c*nsoring b*d w*rds and fuck "unalive."
The characters do things that are out-of-character because the author is projecting their own personality. Bruce Wayne is a lot of things but he does not listen to the fucking Mountain Goats.
There's a lack of experience or research when it comes to certain topics. That's not how physics works. He can't walk that injury off. And that's definitely NOT how you do the horizontal hokey pokey.
3) The Neckbeards
Unfortunately, these basement-dwelling mouth-breathers tainted the image of what a comic fan is, though that's been changing recently. Still, we've all seen them. They gatekeep via pop quizzes, 'cause obviously you're not a real fan unless you know what page 10 of Batman #138 smells like. They give unsolicited commentary on people's cosplays, nitpicking the guys and being gross toward women. And heaven forbid the comics add a little diversity.
4) The Moviegoers
Nothing inherently wrong with getting into the fandom via the movies, nor is there anything wrong with sticking to that. I just feel like we're two different species of Galapagos finches, you know?
5) The Christopher Nolans
Separate from casual fans of the Nolan movies. I'm calling them the Christopher Nolans because these people have a tendency to reach for the grimdarkest thing possible. It's like they cannot fathom Batman having any other emotions besides punching and gargoyle brooding.
6) The Canon Purists
Wanna share a fun headcanon? NO, because Stephanie Brown never used cherry lip balm in the comics so therefore that must be the absolute truth. These people are a stickler for comic accuracy to the point where it's like... why bother interacting with the fandom in the first place? The worst part is when they're adamant on following a single continuity and refuse to consider anything else. This is comics we're talking about. Everything either has been or will be canon at some point.
7) The Fanon Worshippers
On the opposite end of the spectrum, we have the people who base their entire perception of the characters on something either they pulled out of their ass or that their mutual with 16 followers came up with, despite evidence directly contradicting it. I love WFA, but I feel like that's partially responsible for further perpetuating certain popular myths. Also, these fans tend to focus solely on the batfam/their ships. It's one thing to have some people in the foreground vs. background, but put some respect to Bart Allen's name you goddamn cheesecakes.
8) The Golden Age Dads
These guys aren't really obnoxious. I actually find it kind of cute how they think Jason Todd is still dead.
9) The Chronically Online
I have a rule of thumb when it comes to discourse: if it's not something I'd hear about at a bar, it's not worth my mental energy. Some people haven't gotten the memo, though.
These are either the well-intentioned but misinformed teenagers or grown-ass adults beefing with children because they don't have a life. They have takes that are oversimplified, rage-inducing, TikTok algorithm attention-grabbers that no one cares about in real life.
Don't get me wrong, we've got a bunch of issues in comics and fandom that are worth discussing. However, there comes a point where you're splitting hairs and need to go the fuck outside. I'm not gonna link the post 'cause I don't wanna call them and their 7 notes out, but the other week I saw someone saying Stephcass was a racist ship because something something colonialism parallel. You gotta be Elastigirl to have that kind of reach.
10) The Corporate Simps
I love comics. I appreciate the writers and artists. However, you will find my carcass in a ditch before you catch me licking the boots of DC/Warner Bros. Basically, these fans, fewer as they are, can't seem to fathom that their favorite franchise can (and does) put out some steaming motherfucking garbage.
11) The Hot Cosplayers
Not actually annoyed, I'm just a little jealous. Stop being hotter than me, please and thank you.
12) The One With A Punchline For Everything

Research Tips for Writing Your Book
Are you diving into the exciting world of writing and researching for your book project? Here's what you need to know to make your research journey a success:
Define Your Purpose: Before diving into research, have a clear understanding of your book's purpose and goals. Know the themes you want to explore and the message you wish to convey. This will give your research a focused direction.
Create a Research Plan: Outline the specific areas you need to research, set milestones, and establish deadlines. A well-structured research plan keeps you on track and helps you manage your time efficiently.
Use Multiple Sources: Diversify your sources. Books, academic papers, interviews, and digital resources each offer unique perspectives and insights. This diversity enriches your understanding and adds depth to your writing.
Organize Your Notes: Keep your research notes well-organized. Consider using digital tools like note-taking apps or physical notebooks with labeled sections for different topics. Efficient organization will save you time and effort later.
Fact-Check: Ensure the accuracy of your research. Verify any details that are crucial to your story or argument. Misinformation can erode your credibility and disrupt the reader's immersion.
Cite Sources Properly: Keep meticulous records of your sources and be diligent about citations. Use a recognized citation style (e.g., APA, MLA, Chicago) to give credit to the authors and avoid plagiarism.
Interview Experts: Reach out to experts or people with firsthand knowledge relevant to your topic. Interviews can provide you with valuable insights, real-life experiences, and unique anecdotes to enhance your book.
Visit Relevant Places: If your book is set in a particular location, consider visiting it if possible. Experiencing the environment firsthand can help you capture its atmosphere, culture, and nuances more authentically.
Take Breaks: Research can be mentally taxing. Don't forget to take breaks to recharge and maintain a fresh perspective. Stepping away from your work can also lead to new insights and ideas.
Stay Open-Minded: Be open to unexpected discoveries during your research. Sometimes, the most profound insights come from unrelated sources or tangential information that you stumble upon while researching.
Keep a Journal: Maintain a research journal where you can jot down notes, ideas, and thoughts as they occur. This journal can serve as a valuable resource when you're writing your book.
Join Writing Communities: Connect with other writers in person or online. They can offer guidance, share their experiences, and provide emotional support when you face challenges during the research and writing process.
Revise and Refine: Don't think of research as a one-time activity. Continuously revisit and refine your research as your book evolves. New ideas or directions may emerge, and you may need to adjust your research accordingly.
Respect Copyright Laws: Understand the copyright laws applicable to your research. Ensure you have the rights to use specific materials, especially if you plan to incorporate them into your book. Obtaining permissions or licensing may be necessary.
Balance Research and Writing: While research is crucial, there comes a point where you must transition from research to writing. Avoid getting stuck in a perpetual research phase. Once you have enough information to start, begin writing and integrate research as needed in your work.
Remember that your research phase is an integral part of the creative process. It's where the foundation of your book is built, and it can be a fascinating journey in itself. But keep in mind, as you're writing your first draft, you can never know everything, never research everything. A second opinion is always good, and for that, you can ask friends, family, or even me on this blog.

Things that don't make you less of a writer:
-Writing dark topics/sad or tragic endings -Writing fanfiction -Writing a lot of projects at the same time or just focusing on a single one -Having difficulty naming things -Having difficulty writing dialogue or descriptions or action sequences -Having areas in writing that you find difficult -Only writing in a single genre -Only really covering one topic in your writing -Being scared to branch out of your comfort zone -Never wanting to publish -Being rejected by publishers -Not using clever word play in your writing -Having literal writing style -Writing slower than those around you -Being unable to finish any of your projects you start -Having to take long breaks even though you didn't write a lot -Getting exhausted by writing (it's not that you don't love it, it's just exhausting!)
There are so many more things I can add to this list. Literally every single habit of writers, I could add to this list. These are just some really big ones I've seen people get down on themselves about. So just remember: you are no less of a writer than those around you. Be proud, love your writing. You put the time and effort into it. No one has put the time you have into it, so you should love it more than anyone in the whole world.
Love your writing, no matter what kind of writing it is, no matter how diverse the subjects and genres are... it doesn't matter. YOU made it. You alone.

CLÄ°PART - DRAGON+ (5)
The historical development of farm clipart has evolved significantly over time, reflecting changes in artistic styles, technological advancements, and cultural influences. Initially, farm clipart consisted of simplistic and rudimentary drawings of basic farm elements such as barns, animals, and crops. As graphic design tools and techniques advanced, farm clipart became more detailed and realistic, capturing the essence of farm life with greater precision and creativity. With the rise of digital platforms and online marketplaces, farm clipart has become more accessible and diverse, offering a wide range of options for designers and creators to incorporate farm-related visuals into their projects. The evolution of farm clipart mirrors the evolution of farming practices and the agricultural industry, showcasing the deep connection between art, technology, and cultural representation in visual storytelling.
Similarly, the evolution of history clipart has followed a trajectory of innovation and adaptation to changing artistic styles and educational trends. Historically, history clipart primarily featured iconic historical figures, landmarks, and events depicted in a simplistic and educational manner. As digital platforms and educational resources developed, history clipart expanded to include a broader range of topics, styles, and visual interpretations. Modern history clipart encompasses a diverse array of historical themes, from ancient civilizations to contemporary global events, catering to the varied needs of educators, students, and enthusiasts. The evolution of history clipart reflects society's evolving interest in history, visual literacy, and the power of imagery to convey complex historical narratives in a compelling and informative way.
The trends in food clipart styles have undergone a transformation in response to changing culinary preferences, design aesthetics, and cultural influences. Initially, food clipart featured traditional depictions of common food items such as fruits, vegetables, and dishes in a realistic and straightforward manner. However, as culinary diversity and visual storytelling evolved, food clipart began to incorporate more stylized, artistic, and thematic elements to convey the richness and diversity of global cuisines. From minimalist food illustrations to vibrant and whimsical food compositions, the trends in food clipart styles reflect the fusion of creativity, technology, and culinary appreciation in visual design. By exploring different food clipart styles, designers and content creators can enhance their projects with visually appealing and culturally resonant food imagery that engages and inspires audiences.

My dear lgbt+ kids,Â
If you sometimes come across the term âbanned booksâ but donât really know what it means, hereâs a simple little introduction to the topic:Â
âBanned booksâ refers to books that have been censored or removed from libraries, schools, or bookstores due to objections from certain groups or individuals.
When we read that definition, I think a really common and understandable response is: âwhoa, okay, these must be really bad books full of dangerous ideas!â⌠and in some way, thatâs true.Â
Because, you see, to someone with a homophobic worldview, any book with a gay character is really bad and dangerous. And to a child abuser, any book that educates children on consent is really bad and dangerous.Â
Among the top reasons for book bans are lgbt+ content, sexual content (including sexual education or education on sexual abuse), themes of racism and themes like drug use or addiction. Over the years, many books with significant cultural and educational value have faced bans - and this continues to be an issue all around the world, including in the US.Â
When books are banned, it restricts the access to information people (including kids and teenagers) need to understand themselves and others. This negatively affects queer people and other marginalized groups (for example people of color or disabled people) but it also impacts everyone else. Diversity in literature enriches our understanding of the diversity of real life. It helps to build empathy, compassion, kindness and understanding. Access to different stories and viewpoints is vital for an inclusive society.Â
Censoring queer books in particular also normalizes the message that queer experiences are inappropriate or âdirtyâ - which, again, is really beneficial to homophobes and transphobes. If it feels safe for them to say that queer books harm children, it paves the way for all other kinds of discrimination and harassment of queer people.Â
Now you may think âthis all makes sense when it comes to books with gay characters! But didnât you also mention stuff like sexual abuse and addiction and racism up there? These are indeed bad and dangerous things!âÂ
I think this is another really common thought. These things happen in real life and it can be uncomfortable to even think about them. But thatâs precisely why we need books about those âuncomfortableâ topics!Â
We may not like the idea that a child hears about racism or abuse - but in a world where kids can experience racism and abuse, they also need to be able to read about racism and abuse. They need to be able to say âthis is whatâs happening to me and this is not okayâ. We need to be able to name bad things when they happen to us or when we witness them happening to others. We need an understanding of and a language for bad things. Thatâs the only way to fight the bad things.Â
Another thought you may have is âOkay, and now what? I donât have the power to do anything about all this anywayâ, and honestly I wouldnât blame you for that one either. Hearing about book bans (on top of all the other negative stuff we hear about) can feel really depressing. But there are things you can do to push back and help keep diverse stories accessible - even if you are young or have limited resources!Â
Some ideas:Â
use your public library (many public libraries actively resist censorship and make banned books available!)Â
use a digital library (services like Libby and Project Gutenberg offer free access to many books)Â
look out for online petitions or letter-writing campaigns by organizations that oppose book bans (for example PEN in America)Â
look up if there are any âlittle free librariesâ in your area (free book-sharing box operating on the honor system: anyone can take or leave a book for no cost)Â
look up if there are any book swapping events in your areaÂ
take part in reading groups, book clubs etc. (either in person or online)Â
And of course the big one: if you can afford to buy books - make a point to buy banned books (or more generally, queer books and books from marginalized authors and books on topics that frequently get banned)! As a starting point, you can find lists of banned books online. Wikipedia has one, for example.Â
If you have a bigger budget, you could even buy multiple copies and put some in your local âlittle free libraryâ or bring them to book-swapping events or gift them to friends etc! (You could also ask your local public library (or school library or prison library or youth center or womenâs shelter etc) if they take book donations, but you may want to hold off on buying before they say yes - not all of them can accept donations!).
Happy reading and resisting!
With all my love,Â
Your Tumblr DadÂ
#lgbt#lgbt+#While writing this I thought about mentioning my books in it but it felt really inauthentic to use this serious topic to market my own book#So instead Iâll just put it in the tags here#My book Letters To The LGBT Community is an educational book on queer themes and would be a great choice for a little free library#In my humble and totally unbiased opinion

I was reading the comments under Bible's announcement post for '4 minutes' and while I was so excited for this project finally seeing the light of day, I was also disappointed while reading the comments.
Why are we still having discussions about top/bottom in 2024? I know a lot of BLs have made you believe that top and bottom are entire personalities but that is simply not true. They are just sexual preferences and believe it or not sexual preferences do not define someone's personality.
That is why I feel the lead pair in "Pit Babe" is so path breaking. It is a very big example that your personality does'nt define your sexual life. Whose name comes first in a ship doesn't matter. It doesn't change anything. Also "Bad Buddy" in this matter, they refused to set themselves in boxes of wife(ŕšŕ¸Ąŕ¸ľŕ¸˘) and husband(ŕ¸ŕ¸ąŕ¸§). It was a series that very nicely explained the stereotypes gay couples face and the stereotypes that still exist in the BL industry.
Masculine, dominant â Top and Feminine, submissive â Bottom always (key word being always because there are people who fit into masculine top and feminine bottom too which is perfectly fine but diversity and representation of other people in the spectrum is equally important) and that is something that needs to be understood. I don't think I could have said it better than P'Apo myself. Also more power to him because he is one of the few BL actors who I have seen openly talking about this topic.
And believe me guys someone who played Vegas doesn't need to always play roles like that, moreover we don't even know what his role and character is going to be like. This is what acting is. Don't limit actors into boxes.
youtube
P.S This top/bottom discussion really needs to go. I haven't only seen this in comment section of BL actors but also in the comment section of gay couples. If they let you in this part of their life that's okay but if they are not comfortable sharing, just let it go. It hardly matters. We need to stop seeing everything with heteronormative lenses where there has to be a female/wife (ŕšŕ¸Ąŕ¸ľŕ¸˘) role and a male/husband (ŕ¸ŕ¸ąŕ¸§) role in every relationship.
