December 2024 Update

Season's greetings, Duckblr!

I apologise for taking a while to work on the first episode - I'm happy to say that I'm close to the halfway mark...to make the wait a little easier, I have a few new designs for upcoming episodes. Please let me know of any inaccuracies or concerns with such designs!

The two characters in the picture above are currently named Loga the Flame and Snöig the Breeze, former supernatural Norse warriors who help May unravel the mystery of why Greenland is covered in ice, while Iceland rarely gets any. They're also too much.

Oh-ee-yeah! I have three other designs to show you. It looks like Baloo von Bruinwald and Shere Khan have grown quite well, haven't they? TaleSpin characters will show up but they won't always be in Dewey focused stories. What is this long-tailed creature on the right? If you know your Disney Afternoon deep cuts very well, then you know.

I really want an event inspired by The Jungle Book. I want Jack to be in a wolf pack even for a short time, and I'm curious what Leona's reaction and dynamic would be with someone inspired by Shere Khan. It would be so interesting because not only Scar and Shere Khan are both sassy mfs, it would be interesting to see a lion and a tiger fighting for dominance.

But the downside for this one, is that this would be Leona's 1000th card and I'm a broke-ass Leona fan.

saadri khana … the vice house warden of savanaclaw. fierce and powerful, she runs the dorm with an iron fist, expecting nothing short but obedience of her word. saadri’s goal is to keep order within her dorm and on further terms, the school. the tiger beastkin isn’t known to be social, rather lurking in the background, always watching.

despite being one of weakest magic users in the school, her ability cannot be underestimated. law of the jungle allows her to paralyze someone with fear with her gaze alone, giving her time to strike. to make up for her weak magic saadri spends much of her day bettering herself and exercising, allowing to maintain such a strong physique.

Jungle Cubs was one of the best/weirdest classic Disney cartoon series because, while on the surface it's just your classic "your favourite characters, but as babies!" series, with all the cheesy songs and cliches that that suggests, the fact that they chose to do this with the Jungle Book characters— and have for some reason chosen to include the villains in this premise— lends the whole thing such a weird sense of pathos.

Literally all these characters end up disliking each other to a certain degree. When you watch the original film, none of them are still friends.

Even for Baloo, Bagheera and Hathi, the nominal 'good guys' in the original film, the full extent of their relationship as adults is 'Can Coexist In The Same Space Without Actively Trying To Attack You', which is a step up from how Kaa, Shere Khan and King Louie behave, but is still pretty bleak.

(Baloo and Bagheera do at least end up bonding again over Mogli, but they're not particularly friendly at the start of the film.)

There is an entire implied but unspoken tragic epilogue to Jungle Cubs, where the characters grow older and start to develop their adult instincts, species divides grow stronger, and they one by one either stop showing up at or are driven away from The Cold Lairs.

Every song, or joke, or laugh shared between these characters implies a poignant Last Time sometime after the credits roll. Every adventure is lent a certain dark irony, by the knowledge that many of these characters will surely resent these decisions to rescue their friends from danger later on in life, when the time comes to try and kill them.

Shere Khan and Soni first meeting

When Soni moved to the the part of the jungle where the movie takes place, after making some friends along the way she started to hear stories about Shere Khan, "The ruler of the jungle" how powerful he was and spread fear among the animals, she got really curious and wondering how he would look like,even tho, she didn't want to encounter him ever, but it was a matter of time they eventually meeting. She was very intimidated by his presence at first, but with time that would change.
