Spotted just outside the "re-theme in-progress" Pixar Place Hotel is this pair of upscale trash/recycling cans, very similar in design to those implemented at The Villas at Disneyland Hotel. Maybe they got a 2-for-1 deal? // Disneyland Resort, Paradise Pier Hotel / Pixar Place Hotel, 2023 [Source: Chris Glass. Used by Permission.]

Halfway down Sunset Boulevard at Disney's Hollywood Studios you can find this billboard advertising Paradise Pier! Paradise Pier was once a land featured at Disney's California Adventure, until it was converted into Pixar Pier in June 2018!

Superstar Limo: California Adventure (2001-2002)
Propaganda:
"I’m obsessed with this ride. The actual concept for a dark ride where you’re outrunning the paparazzi got canned when Princess Diana died (seriously), so they panicked and slapped together the worlds worst, cheapest looking ride full of inside jokes that you’ll only get if you live in LA. There’s a commercial for California Adventure where some actors go on it, and have to pretend it was a good ride. What a snapshot in time."

It's 2004 and you can spot many trash can designs from the DCA 1.0 era, stockpiled behind Disneyland in an area that would eventually become Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Can you identify all the lands represented? And who owns that bike?

Snippet Sunday Tuesday
Still focused on finishing Hollowed Out (ao3) and The Sus Boy Next Door (ao3), but here's a sneak peak at a request fill in progress 👀
Tumblr media
“You know babe,” you say as you turn the page of your paperback. “More people are staring at you now than they would have if you’d worn appropriate beach attire.”
You push your sunglasses down your nose to peek out at your miserable boyfriend, who’s pouting beneath the umbrella in the beach chair beside you. He’s dressed in his usual attire: jeans, baseball cap, hoodie pulled up over his cap. Except, he isn’t in Gotham City. He’s on a beach, in a tropical paradise, surrounded by beachgoers in their swimsuits. It’s upwards of 100 degrees out. You have no idea how he hasn’t passed out from the heat.
“I still don’t know why we had to come here. Ocean’s ocean,” he grumbles, slouching lower into his chair, hat sliding forward to cover more of his face, bare feet sinking deeper into the sand. Somehow you’d managed to convince him to take his sneakers off at least.
“No, this is supposed to be the most beautiful beach in Turks and Caicos. And we don’t have a beach, dear. We have a pier.”
“And a pool. And I’m pretty sure I saw some sand.”
You sigh, turning back to your book. “I did suggest we go skiing instead, but you insisted on somewhere warm.” You don’t have to look up to know that he’s grimacing like he does when you’re right.
“When I rented an entire house overlooking the ocean for just the two of us I assumed we’d stay at our own private ocean.”
You glance over at him again, and can’t help but smile at how pitiful he looks, with his hands stuffed into the pocket of his hoodie, big beads of sweat dripping down the side of his petulant face. He must’ve finished the paperback you’d slipped out of the back pocket of his jeans and placed in his hands to keep him occupied—a trick you’d learned from babysitting your four year old cousin.
You furtively fold down the corner of the page to mark your place in your book. The man haaaaaates when you do that, like you're desecrating an ancient, sacred text, and not his beat-up, second-hand copy of Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
“What are you doing?” he asks, his pout melting away to a hopeful expression.
“Packing up,” you reply as you slide the book into your beach bag and begin to fold up your towel.
“We’re leaving?” he says, his pale blue eyes pleading, like a kid who’s waiting to find out if he gets to go to Disney World.
“I suppose there are some activities that we can only do in our private ocean.”
