I don't think a lot of people realize that Gale gunning to get the crown and become a god is him lashing out.

Gale wanting to be a god isn't about godhood at all. It's his worth, he wants to rub it in Mystra's face that he doesn't need her. This is obvious if he meets with Mystra before the boat ride scene where you convince to not pursue godhood. In this scenario Gale is visibly and loudly pissed on how Mystra abandoned him.

He always seems so in control that people seem to miss that this attempt of a power grab is him lashing out to Mystra is similar to Astarion's grabbing and stabbing Cazador multiple times.

gwen constantly being considered "in the way" of jack and ianto's relationship is stupid but i just realised. i dont think people do it solely to antagonise gwen (though thats definitely a big part of the phenomenon), i think theyre also genuinely unable to conceptualise conflict in a relationship that doesn't come from a love triangle kind of situation. because when you look at the actual canon material, even though jack is a huge flirt theres actually very few moments where the relationship is "threatened" by a third person trying to "steal jack away" (or ianto i guess, but in gwen's fanfic characterisation its always jack). instead most of the conflict comes from their own insecurities and inability to communicate properly. (which i personally find way more interesting than just using a random character as an evil obstacle in the relationship but whatever floats your boat i guess) gwen doesn't really "get in the way" at all: even though jack and her have a lot of unresolved sexual tension and codependent tendencies, jack knows he cant have her and he wants her to stay with rhys, and ianto doesn't really show any animosity towards gwen (theyre really good friends and were already gossiping about jack by season 2 episode 2). ive seen people assign entirely new meanings to gwen scenes just to pretend she really is trying to break up jack and ianto. please learn to write relationship conflict that isnt solely weird love triangle drama its boring

Ok but, I want to try talk about this scene a bit more. Because I genuinely like how it's been slowly built up.

Like, every time we see Torame, he wants to play. We also pretty much always see him play with other animals. Some seem playful alongside, some try running away in animal-like chase game. At start, it was rough and he would go back frustrated sounding and all. So like, Torame coming in, wanting to play, and now actually says something positive about the Wonderful Precures and leaves off with a happy laughting smile. Torame genuinely had good fun. And I find it nice.

And after the girls realise it, they decide to want to play together with him too. It's pretty neat how Torame's first introduction was honestly a terrifying moment for the girls, what with him terrorizing at close range with Friendy, and the dangers he was able to do with the garugaru eggs. But now, it's slowly and slowly becoming clearer that Torame is like a playful wolf pup that wants to play, and happens to be using Niko-animals who got turned into Garugaru eggs. Don't think he's even considering the state Niko-animals are at during those forms. He just sees it all as fun.

I have a feeling that, if we do get some sort of villain redeem arc at the end, as I personally do think it's best route for this show's themes and all, Torame will be the first one. Maybe something happens that makes Torame lean more to the Precures and reveals something about the past, or Gaou himself. Because someone needs to tell about Gaou more. And it would seem Niko ain't willing. She is hiding things, and with regret I bet.

But yeh, lots to love in this ep, and I wanted to make a post specifically about this scene.

I’ve completed uploading episodes 1-4 of “are you sure” 🥳It goes without saying, but this is a Taekook focused blog so all of these posts, just like all my other posts, highlight Taekook and their bond (or in some instances, my posts archive important pieces of information so others can’t distort facts).

I wanted to upload episode 3 as one post, and episode 4 as one post, but Tumblr wouldn’t let that happen due to their sizes. When I shrank photos to make each episode one post, text and images became blurred and my OCD couldn’t stand it. I hate that they each have 2 posts, but I preferred it to the alternative of unreadable pieces.

I’m not sure if I’ve ever gone in depth about the uploading process? It’s quite an undertaking for long pieces. I first draft the posts in Google docs. This can take days as I rewatch things, chat with friends and gather what people have noticed from my timeline. One episode can take 3-4 hours to watch, as I draft as I go and then go back through and fill in further, then tighten it all up.

After this, I upload the draft into Word Press. It’s not straightforward anymore. When I copy and paste the draft into WP, only the text follows. I have to then go back to Google docs and copy / paste the pictures one by one, and then add the timestamps and hyperlinks under these pictures.

Once that’s done, I convert the post into HTML code. I can’t simply hit “select all.” I have to drag my finger down the entire post and carefully hit copy, or else I erase the whole post (which has happened). I then copy / paste the HTML code into my email and email it to myself.

From there, I copy / paste the code and upload it into Tumblr. Tumblr won’t let me post more than 30 photos a post now, sadly, which means splitting posts up. I have to read the HTML code and decide where to break things up.

I upload the post, then reblog it to its respective year, so you can read the post in the “main” timeline, but also in chronological order in the year it happened. When it’s reblogged to its year of occurrence, I have to scroll to events that happened around that date to determine what backdate to make that piece, so it lands in the correct spot of the timeline.

Uploading these posts took me all morning. Factoring in drafting, I spent at least 2-2.5 days on these episodes.

I’m not sure why I felt like sharing that today, except that I wanted to really take a moment and sincerely thank anyone who stops by to read my blog and let you know it’s so appreciated. Even if no one read this blog, I archive Taekook’s moments as one way of supporting them. I really enjoy preserving their moments - we have so many! - and looking back fondly.

So I’d do it no matter if no one read this, but knowing people do read this blog and treasure it as much as I do means so much to me. I’m thankful for the friendships formed, the people I’ve been able to talk to and some I’ve been fortunate to meet in real life, and it’s all thanks to this blog.

Not only that, my anxiety gets the best of me. I greatly admire those who tweet on Twitter, or post on Instagram, without giving much thought. I can’t do it. I wish I could. I will sit on posts, get anxious, bail out of posting, or post then mute because I’m so tense. I’m not sure why that is. Sometimes I wish my accounts were smaller so I could maybe feel more comfortable freely speaking my mind. But I also think I’d be anxious no matter what because social media is so toxic and dark and my energy can’t stand it. It doesn’t help I’m still trying to figure out my medical mysteries, and that’s been such a drain on my energy. I can’t find it in me to do much more than lurk on Twitter and IG right now.

Here on tumblr, I feel like I’m in my little safe space. It’s quiet here, I post my pieces and show my support, and my support is measured in a more meaningful way for who I am as a person (in addition to streaming, buying their merch etc). I really am so grateful for this space. We all support in our ways and though I wish I was bolder on TW and IG, I appreciate those who are and I also appreciate that we are all here to equally love and support Tae and Jk. That’s what matters.

Started thinking about the past scenes shown in the OP and ED.

Like, Dot's scene showcases the moment when Liko was missing and she was struggling to find the correct info to find her (as in Spinel was feeding wrong info), right? It's what my first thought is upon seeing this.

Roy's is right after Rayquaza left after the, would it be called first or second battle? The one where Terapagos' tera form first debuted. I don't know if Rayquaza's first debut in the series can be called a battle lol. But I remember this moment well.

And Liko's appears to be the moment after losing to Chili/Rika. It's a bit more dramatized as she didn't walk off sad (instead cried on the spot, confused on it, but felt happy about finally understanding the battles), but I do believe that is the intended reference here.

And then, in the ED.

This is from the very first episode. When Liko finally starts befriending Nyahoja during her time at Sekiei Academy in Kanto.

Roy's refers to the episode where Roy and Hogator first met at Roy's home Island in Kanto. Episode 4 right? First thing that comes to mind is where Roy compliments Hogator's singing.

And then Dot is when she finally became partners with Kuwassu for real during Liko's amnesia-and-missing episode where she finally makes the big push to overcome her struggles so she can find her first IRL friend. The official debut of their partnership. While before that they were, sorry for lack of better wording, mere accomplices. Not really partners. So I would say these three scenes represent the moments when each of them gained their first meaningful bonding. Not saying there was no bond before that moment between the two, I just think that moment was one of the most significant ones.

And then we have this scene:

Which kinda showcases the past and future selves of the RVT adults. Molly's I think is our first look at her past self. While the rest we have seen in their respective focus episodes. Kinda interesting that even thou we have had episodes with focus on Molly, we've never seen flashbacks related to her. We still don't know exactly what prompted her to join the crew. Nor do we know of Murdock or Landau's reasons for joining the crew, but we DO know their pasts in flashback forms. (By the way, I love that Landau is doing his own thing and not doing the Pikkaan dance lol.)

Is Molly's outfit reminding anyone of anything? Closest I can think of is Alola but I do not think it's exact. So it could be new.

Hi guys! I want to talk about a minor problem I have with Amphibia and how they could've been done better. I will not be talking about any of the big problems that people have already complained about, like Sasha and Marcy's lack of screentime, their character arcs, parents, nobody talking about Marcy after "True Colors", yada yada yada, because we don't need another post like that, and I want to keep this overdue rant as short as possible. This is based on my personal opinions along with a few others, but feel free to disagree with me if you want. But with further, let us begin...

Anne almost always gets way too easily forgiven for f*cking up.

Okay! This one may be a hot take because I have never seen another person complain about this. But this has been eating me away for MONTHS, and if no one else is going to say it, then I will. While this occasionally extends to some other characters depending on the episode. The one I want to talk about most is Anne. Now, at the start of the series, Anne was pretty much a jerk with a heart of gold. She was selfish, bratty, lazy, and irresponsible, but she did learn from the mistakes that she made and became a true hero by the end of the series. While some of these flaws and mistakes are not worth talking about, there are still others that are actually worse than what the show's narrative portrays them to be.

They may not be as bad as leading a toad army to invade the capital city, burying the only thing that could get Anne home, or sending your friends to another world on purpose. Anne has still made some pretty questionable decisions, even to the point where they often cross the line.

Here's a list of some of the worst things Anne Boonchuy has ever done from Season 1 and 2:

Breaking Hop Pop's favorite cane that also happens to be a keepsake of his father and grandfather all while making fun of him.

Manipulating Sprig into taking Bessie the family Snail on a Joyride without reading. Which is like someone taking a car out for a spin without a driver's permit.

Forcing Sprig to marry Maddie despite his obvious discomfort for Pizza Dough and later forces him to date Ivy while he's still engaged to Maddie.

Faking being sick to get out of farm duty, which led the Plantars getting sick themselves and even thought they were all going to die from red leg.

Slacking off while she was supposed to be protecting the frozen townsfolk, while aware of what happens to one of them while they're frozen. Which, of course, led to Polly almost getting eaten by a giant weasel.

Causes massive property damage with Polly while on the streets of Newtopia, and later breaks into Newtopia University in hopes of finding a rad college party. The second one was Polly's idea, but Anne had no problem going along with it.

A team effort along with her frog family. Sending a giant chicken to attack Wartwood. Which BTW can create tornadoes, breathe fire, and even turned their loved ones into stone, all because they forgot to buy everyone gifts. Sure, Anne was against the idea, but she still went along with it.

What do characters usually respond with when Anne admits her mess ups?! "It's okay! You're good! What you did was serious, but it doesn't matter that we almost died, as long as you learned your lesson."

Though Anne still at least got a lot better, as the worst things she's done in Season 3 were covering up some major plot points from her parents, robbing a museum to get a clue on how to find a way back to Amphibia, and tricking Blair the Balloonist into flying a hot air balloon. Though, the first one is still a little f*cked up, but she did have selfless reasons for doing these, and she came clean for 2/3 of these.

But still, 90% of this show is just a lighthearted slice of life cartoon, but when it shifts to its dark story driven and plot twisting side, this is where the narrative (and by some extent Anne herself) gets pretty hypocritical. It's pretty much when Anne messes up and lies to other characters. It's a simple error in judgment. But when other main characters such as Sasha, Marcy, and even Hop Pop do the same to her, first they gotta face hell for it, and then they get their redemption arc.

Yes! They did do some serious sh*t, and Anne had a right to be mad at them. But it seems that other characters are just not allowed to even stay mad at Anne when she does pretty similar sh*t. I mean, yes, she does try to make up for it, and yes, she admits what she's done most of the time, and eventually, she does become a better person from them. But so have Hop Pop, Sasha, and Marcy. But again, they didn't get the protagonists treatment. They got hurt and thrown around like ragdolls because of one or two big mistakes, and even that wasn't enough.

While Anne sometimes faces some consequences for her actions, like breaking Hop Pop's heirloom cane with HP giving her dish duty for a month (Cmon man! You should've given her way more than that!), gets banned from an arcade because she threatened to eat newt kids for cutting in line (which is not important), and most importantly, gets stranded in Amphibia after being peer pressured by her friends to shoplift it, all on her 13th birthday. Which I guess was enough for karma itself to feel so bad for her that she will hardly ever worry about facing any lasting consequences for her misdeeds ever again. While karma beats the cr*p out of others who would dare lie and betray our precious protagonists, even when they have sympathetic reasons for doing so.

Speaking of, this leads to me to clarify something that some fans have misinterpreted since the beginning of the series. The flashback scene in the second episode, "Best Fronds," was intended to show where Anne's distorted views on friendship and some of her toxic traits come from. Not to justify every single bad decision Anne has ever made, like what some fans think.

While I'm not gonna say that Anne was just as bad as Sasha before Amphibia, as it does show that Anne had her own personal flaws that she had to get through without depending on her friends. Who were more enabling her flaws than causing them.

However, while the show does try to show that Anne wasn't exactly much better in their friend dynamic than they were. For the reasons I mentioned earlier, it instead paints Anne as the least toxic one or not being toxic at all. With them only making a handful of moments that show that even after their betrayals, Anne still isn't much better than them. But the usual wacky slice of life narrative in her character development episodes downplays the severity of her actions, with Anne only just getting an emotional lesson after nearly getting everyone killed, and some of the said lessons being brought up in a few episodes to test her character or as examples to show others how much she has grown.

Now, I'm going to do some comparisons between Amphibia and The Owl House. While there are several things that Amphibia did better than TOH and about an equal amount of things TOH did better than Amphibia. One of those things that The Owl House did better than Amphibia was the writers treating each and every character fairly. The characters make mistakes and learn from them without the narrative downplaying the seriousness of their mistakes, and it isn't always "Okay! You're forgiven! What you did was serious, but it doesn't matter that we almost died. You learned your lesson, and that's what matters." While it doesn't give other characters the short end of the forgiveness stick for doing similar sh*t. With that, it also makes the character arcs a little bit better, in my opinion.

However, I'm not saying that Anne's character development was bad or that Matt Braly is treating Anne like how some see Alex Hirsch did with Mabel. The show did alright with changing a bratty teenager with flawed views of friendship into a true and selfless hero. All of what I described seems to what TV Tropes would call "Protagonist Centered Morality," and if I'm being honest, but because of that reason, I don't find Anne to be the most appealing character to me. I'm sorry! I know that a lot of you love her, and she's the second most popular character in the show; with the first being Marcy (my favorite), but I don't even dislike her either. I just feel that the narrative could've done better in treating the characters more fairly, like how TOH did with their characters. I really want to like Anne more than I do now, but for what I described, it makes it kinda hard for me to.

That's it for my opinions on this. This was longer than I thought, so if you read it this far or read it at all. You either think that I have a point and should do more of this or my analysis stinks, and I should never speak my dumb mind again. I'll probably see how this goes either way. If anybody else here still cares about this show.

I'm at the art museum and I'm wondering; what do you think art looks like in Star Wars?

Just looking at so many post-war and during-war pieces (mostly WWII), I can't help but wonder what art looks like in a galaxy that is constantly torn up by war.

During the Clone Wars, do people make sculptures of discarded droid parts? Are there paintings of stories of battles? Are clones' helmets eventually immortalized in museums?

What of the growing darkness in the Senate? Do others know that the system is corrupt? Is there political art of Palpatine as an evil figure, even before anyone knew that was actually the case?

Are there pictures of bodies, nightmarish, dream-like landscape depicting the horrors of war, and psychologically disturbing imagery? And don't even get me STARTED on how much art there would be of Darth Vader: an imposing figure of the Empire, the shadow of Death. The subtle dissent towards the system in artwork, the fear of being caught for speaking against it, so some artist make subtle declarations of intent and many are dragged away by the Empire for refusing to stick to established ideals.

And after the Empire falls, the collective relief. But for many, the nightmares will never cease. Art may help citizens remember the battles which were covered up in the past.

And the amount of cultures that are affected by all of this, too. Anyways, I would love to hear anyone's opinions on what Art looks like in Star Wars, because I'm an art hoe

You know how Shadowheart had finally had hug option in the cutscene after the house of grief. Well, I just realized almost every companion has a cutscene where I wish I can hug them. (non-romanced status oki)

Astarion: While a lot of people would say the scene where he kills cazador and cries, I personally prefer the scene after the whole debacle. Where everyone is at camp and Astarion is contemplating what his life now. I think this is the best time too since he most secure in the whole story and also clear headed, so he probably welcome this more compared to any point of the story.

Karlach: When she breaks down after killing Gortash. specifically after the "because the person I trusted the most gave me away to the devil" line. It's just so heartbreaking that the worst thing for during all she went through was the loneliness she felt the whole time.

Lae'zel: I personally wanted to hug her after Vlaakith's visit and Lae'zel refusing to bow to her in the 3rd act. Specifically, when you tell her how she could mourn the future she dreamed of was gone because of Vlaakith. She seems so lost and I just want to recognize her pain in this scene.

Gale: After he receives Mystra's message that he should blow himself up. When he tries so hard to justify Mystra's order to Tav. I just want to hug he was just so resigned and trying to convince himself to not be afraid. Like damn give that poor man a hug.

Wyll: I want to give Wyll a hug as early as Act 1, specifically during the tiefling party. He was just sad and ashamed of himself when he got transformed. He deserves comfort and reassurance in that scene so much.

i think its a bit weird to act as though ianto is the only character who isnt bad/hateable/kind of an asshole cause even if you only take the show into account ianto is pretty clearly on the side of "barely cares about the consequences of torchwood's actions on the normal people who might be caught in the crossfire". you see it in day one when he's just as indifferent to carys as everyone else. in sleeper when all he does when a woman is about to get tortured for an interrogation is offer water. in adrift he does help gwen find flat holmes but its more because he knows she wont stop looking so he might as well make things quick. and if you add in all the extended universe oh boy he gets so much worse! locking a man alone in an office and retconning himself so he wont feel guilty about it. manipulating someone's memories to become their best friend jsut to gain access to a secret base. pretending to cut off someone's arm as "payback" for them disliking aliens. thats only a small sample of the range of shitty behaviours ianto displays. hes not the sweet baby angel people like to think he is

I feel like no one talks about the idea of curly being a victim even before the crash? Or maybe it's just me but,,

We know he's a big people pleaser,almost a doormat but I think that those characteristics could've developed with his time with Jimmy.

This isn't to excuse Curly's actions but to give more depth why he reacted that way?

I mean cmon! We see Jimmy pit Curly as the bad guy when they get the message of their unemployment.

Then not only that but he BLAMES Curly for what HE(Jimmy) did to Anya. Curly doesn't even argue and practically deflates under Jimmy's glare.

Iroha kinda gives me bi or pan feeling.... Like she didn't even consider the romantic feeling towards Satoru as a boy thing or gender thing, she kept comparing that special feeling to friends. To Komugi. I find that so nice. Like she asked many times, how does it differ from the feeling she has towards friends. And then she finds that answer later in the episode. That special kind of wonderful that only Satoru is able to give her.
