I know we're ignoring canon right now, but can. Can we just talk about Dabi's ending for a second? Because like. What the fuck? This guy's been suffering his entire life. From being abused by his father, to being kidnapped and experimented on while he's in a coma, just to escape and go home to find out his worst fears have come true, his family abandoned him, they never really cared. Then, he spends the next 8 years homeless, where he damages his body so much to the point he's being held together by staples? How painful was his daily life?? No wonder he wanted to die. His life was hell. And now, he spends his last days alive trapped in a fucking fish tank, in excruciating agony (you cannot tell me he isn't in any pain. He has no fucking skin left, along with his other injuries. Not to mention the emotional and psychological trauma once again inflicted on him). He doesn't get to choose whether or not he wants to keep living through this nightmare. He doesn't get to choose whether or not he wants Endeavor to visit him every day. No one asks him his opinion on any of this. They decide for him, and he doesn't have the strength left to protest. He can't move, can't talk, can't do anything. All he can do is sit there, watching on helplessly, with the knowledge that after his death, his family will once again leave him behind and forget all about him. He'll never see the League again, the only people in the world who actually loved him unconditionally and never saw him as a problem or a mistake. He has to die with the knowledge that he failed. His family won't ever truly see him as a person, and he never, not once in his life, got to be happy.

Well Dabi is disabled when it comes to quirk society, like his body is literally attacking itself when he uses his quirk, he's resistant to an element he doesn't produce he's got the equivalent of an autoimmune disease in quirk terms and his dad knew that and the drs knew that and still didn't do anything to aid him I'm not taking criticism on this point

Like listen. That man loves you. So much so that it makes him sick with himself sometimes. He knows there's gonna be some things you can't do sexually, and he doesn't mind going without some things as long he still gets to be with you. And besides, what you can do leaves no room for complaints anyway.

The problem is, he's not a big fan of bothering you with things that are obvious. Or at least...what he thinks are obvious. Because let's be real, he hasn't really interacted with anybody quite as disabled as you, and he still makes a lot of assumptions instead of just asking you. And because he doesn't bring anything specific up, and he's usually quite blunt about what he wants any other time, you don't think to ask him.

But one day you're having a casual conversation about sex experiences, and one of your exes is mentioned. Touya immediately frowns because he hates the thought of anybody else having you, even in the past (especially in the past. That should've been him dammit). You often tease him how unfair that is when he has a bigger body count than you, but he counters that all of his other experiences were empty fucks and barely count. He barely even remembered most of them.

Yours were actual relationships. People you actively wanted to settle with, people you loved. You didn't have anyone to be jealous of.

He's only ever felt that way with you.

And normally he would continue pouting about it, except that you mentioned that you used to top one of them.

Thoughts on Removing Dabi's Scars

It makes me feel sad when I see art of Dabi without scars.

I'm never going to say "if you do this, you are a bad person all the time" because I acknowledge there are exceptions and times when things can be handled with grace and consideration.

I will say, that when an artist removes Dabi's scars for purely aesthetic reasons then that can be reflective of harmful real-world attitudes towards disabilities and scarring.

Intensive scarring like Dabi's is not just a fashion statement, like a new coat. It is the result of intense traumatic injury. It would impact joint movement, nerves, maybe even his eye sight. When you remove the scars, think about all the things you are actually removing: his history and experience as a burn victim. And for what?

Why do you think your Hero AU cannot have scars? Why does your Domestic Touya not have burns? What is it about visual burns and scars that needs to be relegated to Villainy?

One of the things I admire about BNHA is that the heroes have scars and injuries. Shouto is canonically a pretty boy, and he has a scar across half of his face. How wonderful for people who have scars to be told "your scars are not evil, they are not ugly, everybody can have scars".

It will never not be disappointing to me when an artist removes Dabi's burns without thought about what they may unintentionally be saying about people with visible scars. I really hope that we can talk more about this kind of thing, and be more mindful with designs.
