2020 Honda CR500RA ultralight prototype...on this 26th two-stroke Tuesday of year 2019, this is the status. 203.8 lbs. dry. I had a great time taking some pics and video over the past two days. I do now see a path to well below 200 lbs. (~197 lbs. to be exact)...and this is without doing anything stupid to make it unrideable and still using the standard plastic bodywork you see. I will detail this in a future post. Thanks to all tagged here that helped move this project along with their products and time. I’ve been working on this thing for over a year...about to come up for a final weigh-off soon and some full outdoor pics/video. So much energy and detail went into it. 2020 Honda CR500RA prototype...clutch swap out to drop 2 lbs. (~900g). I love Rekluse clutches, but it’s really not a fit for this project trying to go as light as possible. Rekluse TorqDrive plates are all steel...friction and drive plates...so in total, really heavy. The expanded billet clutch cover is also heavy (along with extra oil capacity). Swapping all of this for stock Honda aluminum drive and clutch plates with Ti spring bolts and Aluminum drilled washers with a @cmtcompositi clutch cover. 2020 Honda CR500RA prototype...swapped out my Pro Circuit pipe for the HGS and lost 1.4 lbs. This is a fantastic pipe and I couldn’t pass it up. I hand prepped it to shiny bare metal as you’ve seen in the other motor build pics...and then had it high temp. (2000F) Glacier Ti Cerakote sprayed.
