If there's one thing that is so proper to Homestuck it's how it dangerously switches from deep and deadly serious content to the most inane and inconsequential bullshit your eyes ever lied on. It's like Hussie hatched early on something very mysterious, intriguing and seemingly relevant, but on the next page they go "nah you know what, it's just shit don't worry about it". Some kind of duality, inner fight between the genuine genius of a dude (gender neutral) masterly using themes and good character writing, and their exuberant irony, which is not always clear about its intention (sincerity? bluff??). A few keys on its mechanism, and so its understanding will be dropped by Dirk during his introduction in Act 6. Which in fact, is indirectly given by the author themselves as each character is a part of them, especially Dirk. One another note, I was wondering what the fuck was those two red dots at the top of the picture. Turns on, it's just flowers. Man, can you believe we'll see decent drawn flowers only when we'll catch a glimpse of Jade, then catapulted to wv's exile's capsule by the author's sike powers? These flowers deserved better, and so do we. NB: I didn't write it last time cause the post was already long as is was, but it's the first time we've got a ==> command. The exiles' influence will grow stronger from now on. —>

my headcanons for the humans!

in order of height they are jade, jake, roxy, john-jane, dave-rose, dirk

a few notable features-

-dave has a swirl like roxy

-dirk burns easily but has tans on his shoulders from the burns that are mostly permanent,

-janes hair mimics her symbol

-jade has white hair streaks from her dogtier

-the beta kids wear bracelets for the others in their group (daves are under his sleeve)

-dirk doesnt bind

-jade has colourful socks!

and i think the rest is sorta self explanatory :D

Beta kids but make them Mobians (yes, I am cringe, I thought that was clear)

If it isn't clear, here are why I made them the way they are:

John - Rabbit. The Con Air bunny was kind of influential for this! His color pallette is also inspired by his God Tier and the clouds on Skaia. His hammer is inspired by the Warhammer of Zillyhoo with some more personal touches.

Rose - Bat. I wasn't sure what to make her at first, but I settled on a bat for her due to how I plan to make Roxy a cat and Dirk a seagull-- Thus, a flying mammal. Plus, Rouge was another inspiration for this, and I think it would be funny as hell if in this crossover, Rose would be her younger cousin.

Dave - Crow. This is self explanatory, the guy is surrounded by crows! The sword was inspired by the in-comic Caledflwch, and the green on the hilt reminded me of the Master Emerald. Not sure what would THAT entail. (knuckles would be so after his ass)

Jade - Dog (Huskie). She was mostly inspired by Bec! I may have uhh... Transmorgified them together in this design. I wanted something funky but stylish for her clothes like the dresses she made in-comic!

Some other notes:

- I'd figure that John and Dave would fight at first, akin to how Sonic and Shadow did???

- John would kind of be the Sonic and Jade would be kind of the Tails of the group. They were actually friends first, Rose came second, then Dave.

- Their names are the same from the comic, but would most likely have nicknames like Tails-- John would be called Zip and Dave would be called Dart, notably. Unsure for the other two.

I have a headcanon on how these guys style themselves postgame and you WILL hear me out.

Kanaya, Roxy, and Jade are self explanatory. They know how they want to present themselves. They know how to go forward with that. They’ve got colour combos and layering and fashion choices suited to their particular style IN THE BAG. Loud, prominent, they know whats up.

Jake, Calliope, and Jane get nudged into giving a fuck about fashion by anyone named above, or rather their own desire to dress up…Jake moreso because as a celebrity he gives too much of a fuck about his image to be anything less. Callie of course is affectionate enough with jade and roxy that they teach her how to style and i think she would like lolita and more daintier feminine stuff than roxy, but she does tend to sometimes switch over to suits. Jane is pure butch energy she dresses like a guy but as a girl with fashion sense. Like strict lesbian style. I dont know how else to fucking put it she would dress like how a butch lesbian would.

Jane and Jake stylewise would be similiar to some retro callback summer movie where everyones on a roadtrip in a yellow van or something except jake is more prone to extravagancy because he gives more of a fuck. Also one of them is wearing dresses and its NOT Jane.

Dirk and Rose.. fashion disasters. Dirk doesnt know fashion weight for a while and tries too hard id even suspect that he would try and mimic daves fashion style for a while until john or someone else blatantly calls him out in an offhand comment and jake and the rest of his friends start getting on his fucking case about being so bland with his fashion takes (all primaries, little to no patterns, basic, no layering.) that he caves and starts taking it like a personal challenge to style well.

At some point he has a revelation and realises he can get piercings and starts leaning into that and punk / gothish fashion. Black with complimentary colours recommended by friends.

Rose is sort of a fashion trainwreck like for all of kanayas nudging she doesnt really give a fuck and kanaya starts dictating her outfits and then of course she also gets the "someone makes an offhand comment that makes them mald really hard about it and go into a snooty onesided competition to prove they GET IT actually and that you were TOTALLY wrong about them not GETTING IT." Its the only way Dirk and Rose start caring.

Terezi and John get nudged around by their respective compadres about fashion sense and style, but they generally dont give a damn and have their own thing going for them. Theyve got their own vibe and style that feels well on them and especially terezi wise i think she would lean into the fashion disaster for fun. As long as the colours taste well together, who gives a damn about layering etc etc. throw in some crocs with a suit. An oversized shirt with a tapered skirt. Who cares. John is more tried and true but he styles out ENOUGH so he doesnt end up in the last (deorgatory) category.

Dave and Karkat are the real stubborn contendors of the friendgroup fashionwise. Baggy on baggy outfitwear. WILL get on your case if you point out had it not been for their respective colour choices they basically dress the exact same. Same mix of cargo pants, sweatpants, tracksuit pants, hoodies, and tshirts to keep them going for the lifetime. There js nothing else. Whats layering. Accessories? Well except for a watch hard pass. Patterned clothing? No way. Basic colours ONLY. Maybe Dave would dig long shorts ive always seen him as a longshorts kind of guy but its never anything noteworthy. Type of guys to choose what theyre wearing with their eyes closed thats how basic their closet is.

Homestuck Mythical Creature au / Cryptid Au

thought processes under the cut (bc some choices are wild)

Johns a pooka, an irish fae trickster who shapeshifts into animals. his favorite form is the bunny. john and jane are both fae, so their pranks range from harmless to mentally scaring to life altering. absolute chaos grimlins. dirk is also an irish myth, so he knows them well and is often trying to get them to not ruin the local population of humans. so they do pranks on him insted. john loves to steal dirks head and hide it places.

rose speaks to the eldritch horrors and is slowly becoming one herself. she wants to become a litch.

Dave is a harpy! a very chill one who doesn't tend to sing with his full chest, so people dont start crashing into his doorstep. dave dies in some magic accident that caused davesprite to rise up from the ashes. but dave harpy is ALSO fine no ones really sure how. may have been roses doing.

Jade is a werewolf obv. but shes also a witch and has formed a coven with rose and roxy.

Jane is ur avrage fae faerie/sprite. her favorite fae rule to get people to break is "dont eat their food."

Roxy is both a cat who is also a wizard i need not elaborate

Dirk is a headless horseman. not to be confused with THE headless horse man. thats another dullhan with a well paying halloween gig. dirk is often subject to losing his head, so he made a magic pumpkin to pilot the body when this happens. he does have a very large and scary but beautiful horse.

Jake is the bigfoot. and one of the most well hunted (and well travled) cryptids. thus, his friends often make jokes of not ever seeing him except in blurry images. its not his fault hes very large and loves to travel! and is also not very photogenic...

Aradia is a monthra!!! however she made a deal with a devil and became a ghost... not sure WHY yet or why it kills her. but it does. its all in her plan or smth, but that doesnt stop sollux from being very upset that hes the one that has to take and keep her soul. she is reserected later by the coven, still soulless but it doesnt matter bc her soul is in good hands and thus she still feels it. shes much happier now.

Tavros is a minotar self explanatory he is a small minotar, tho. a mini minotar if u will.

Sollux is ur run of the mill soul for potato chip demon. an excuse to give him twin tails and horns. him an kitkat gave me the most trouble! but then i went with a solkat devil angel motifi and im kinda attached t9 it now. even if its sorta a cop out. i simply couldnt find twin creatures that werent gods or children of gods. nor any crab creatures...

Karkat is an angel. he WAS human notably he was human for awhile even good friends with kanaya before he died. he never found love but helped so many with theres that he became an angel that was a lot like cupid. thus he was a small angel incharge of match making and also likened to a baby and hes very much NOT happy about this. it pisses him off, solluxs often gives him a hard time. about it. (extra angst is that kitkats also really fucked up about never knowing what love felt like but having to give it to others. and he has it in his head that that means he never will know, bc no ones matchmaking the matchmaker. but theres a song he hears everyonece anwhile by a stray harpy that makes him feel a lot lighter.)

Nepeta is my go to cat creature a nekomata. a two tailed cat yokai.

Kanaya is a vampire. obviously.

Terezi is a dragon! still blind! still licks. but can now transform and has wings, very scary. shes basiclly just her lusus lmao.

Vriska is a spider lady. i have arachne here bc its similar, but shes not arachne the myth proper. shes just a spider with the top part of a woman at the head. A Jorogumo a spider lady yokai and is basically actually what im picturing.

Equius is a centar and fuck if i ever have to draw him....

Gamzee is a clowwwn, just a clown, just a silly lil guy. What do you MEAN clowns arnt mythical creatures??? what do u mean u saw him under ur bed when you were a child? u must be mistaken. as a nod to ICPs boogieman. when gamzee is not high as a kite and is just a clown, he is one of the most terrifying and unkillable creatures known to children kind.

Eridan is a selkie. basiclly a mermaid but part seal. personally, I'd like to make him part seahorse. but not in the hippocampus way. i chose this bc he can shapeshift, thus he pretends to be a high elf sorcerer, yes he does get dunked on about this.

And finally, Feferi is a siren! who happens to be able to become very VERY **VERY** BIG. she doesnt lure people to drown them but she DOES love to keep live captives in cages :)

early on jade and roxy set up transportalizers everywhere bc they know all these bitches can and will slip back into depression and do something hella stupid if they dont catch up w each other once in a while. to me there’s like the one everyone has near by, they zip through that one and enter a room w everyone’s pads all neatly labled or whatev. its probably in the basement of djk’s absurd funhouse mansion.

ackchually dersecest and prospitcest are called that because dirk and roxy / jane and jake aren't TECHNICALLY related because they're the paradox clones of the actual guardians and the only related characters are john/jade and dave/rose. there are other incest ship names however! there's stridercest and lalondecest which are self explanatory, but i'm pretty sure there isn't a concrete ship name for john/jane and jade/jake (although that doesn't negate their incest status).

John had his book which contained Nanna’s message, Rose and Jade had the bunnies which are self explanatory, Jake had the pistols that killed Sassacre, Roxy had Mutie which would inspire her interest in science and genetics (and also cats, causing the whole Jaspers thing), Dirk had freakin Cal which is also self explanatory, and while Jane having Dad Egbert’s hat isn’t too significant it still inspired her interest in sleuthing and gave her a connection with her own dad

And then you have Dave. With a horse. That died on impact. Served no plot relevance whatsoever, it was just a horse. Didn’t even affect his personality either. Horse

Ok so I sorted them into five categories! There’s:

Good Drivers

Kanaya: obviously

Karkat: he’s so careful, he’s good and he parks perfectly and he never speeds

Jane: the only one of the kids to ACTUALLY have learned how to drive before the game

Can Drive

Dirk: he’s enough of a perfectionist that when they made cars he disappeared with one for like a week and came back able to drive. He’s not perfect though and it bothers him so much.

Vriska: she read one of janes old manuals and she’s been fine ever since. She’s probably using her luck powers though cause she definitely should have gotten a ticket by now

Jake: I just think he’d be fine at it

Jade: ^^^^same

June: jane taught her, janes dad offered but June doesn’t really like being around him since he looks like her dad but isn’t. She really doesn’t drive that often though bc she just does the windy thing

Bad Drivers

Roxy: she’s the kind of driver to be messing with stuff, shes putting on lip gloss, she’s adjusting her mirror, shes eating a snack, uh oh she hit a mailbox lol

Rose: she wants to be good at it so bad but she’s just NOT she tries to get Kanaya to teach her but she’s just hopeless

Equius: white knuckled, sweaty, gritting his teeth, he bends the steering wheel

Feferi: similar to Roxy but also she has road rage, if she’s driving she is also YELLING

Cannot Drive

Dave: Every time someone tries to teach him it ends in tears (if it’s karkat, then karkat cries; if it’s rose, then Dave cries) it’s not his fault, he’s much better at being navigator/DJ anyways

Aradia: she doesn’t really see the point, she likes to fly

Tavros: horn too big for he gotdamn head, when he rides in a car he sits in the middle seat in the back. He does know how to ride a motorcycle though!

Sollux: he just flies and when he’s tried to drive in the past he instinctually messes with other cars with his psionics which sucks if you’re one of those ppl

Nepeta: she’d rather walk anyways and she doesn’t go anywhere she’d need it so she just never learned

Gamzee: doesn’t really like being in cars (fridge trauma) and also even the specially made cars for big trolls feel cramped to him he’s so goddamn tall

Eridan: he’d rather be driven, thank you

Is NOT allowed to drive

Terezi: this is self explanatory, BUT one time vriska took her to a large parking lot and let her go crazy and she surprisingly only hit like one light pole and the only other car that was in the parking lot (it was karkat’s)

Davepeta: is not necessarily a bad driver but they had their license revoked. One time rose had a party at her house and Davepeta told her they were running late and then drove to her house, texted “on my way!” And then immediately ran the car into her living room as a joke

Jasprose: was in the car with Davepeta and also it may have been her idea, rose revoked both of their licenses permanently

I love to make little headcanons like this so if y’all have any thoughts lmk I’ll do more, also I forgot a few characters so I could add em later

OK since we're doing Homestuck + Worm hottakes now i have a few.

tattletale has a kismesis with Faultline and/or maybe also the Simurgh. she's also a Thief of Light like Vriska, but is not *herself* a Vriska. probably a Terezi to Taylor's Vriska.

Taylor Hebert is a valid troll name. and also Taylor is a Vriska despite being herself Muse of Doom. maximum Vriska in Worm would be a fusion of tats and taylor.

Armsmaster is Equius and has a Moirallegiance with Dragon, not sure if that makes her Nepeta or not (Dragon is closer to Aradia in classpect, and i suspect she's a Time player but i could also buy Heart. i think Armsmaster and Dragon are my default goto Space and Time players for viable Worm sburb session)

Clockblocker is Dave Strider. self explanatory.

Aisha is Roxy Lalonde. Alec is Dirk.

Coil or Jack Slash are doc scratch and Scion is Lord English.

Red-blooded cherub Roxy (cheeks filled in, not swirled)

Lime-blooded troll Rose (mismatched psionic eyes purple and almost-black purple, sign is the old English character known as the thorn (looks like a p & b), and wears more her psionic colors than her blood color)

Orange leprechaun (I think that's the official name?) Dirk (if possible could you make his head generally shaped like crowbar's but add fins like trace's? No hat aside from the usual one on his shirt lmao)

Black & white marbled carapacian hal (fairly self explanatory)

I'd really love of you did any of these species swaps, if you want to make multiple then I might as well add the not-necessarily-speciesswap-but-from-the-same-timeline dave, who was a very dark skinned human with piebaldism (not vitiligo, and primarily across the middle of his face) and short frizzy hair.

this was very very fun!! really enjoyed doing this one!

-they are godtiered and hanging out! did not feel like redrawing all their clothes so i just god tier'd them uh... sorry hal but if you have a gt for him lemme know

-you did not include a desc of rose's horns so i made some up! lemme know what they actually are

-um... there is a clear line between homestuck creatures meant to be viewed in 3d and those that are not. leprechauns fall firmly into the second category,,, also i dont know what you meant by fins? trace doesnt have fins unless you mean his lapels?
