Ever wonder why Hol Horse is one of the only JoJo characters with the specific SFX 「メギャン」 (me-gyan)?

Me too, me too.

(I'm not an expert in Japanese expressional words, let alone its manga SFX, so take this with a spoonful of salt)

I assume "me-gyan" is a mix of "meki" and "kyan". "Meki" is the sound of something "ripping out", like a tree growing out of the ground at rapid speed. "Kyan" can be two things - a squeal or a wolf's cry.

At this point...it's safe to say that a high pitch, cracking howl is what Emperor literally sounds like when it "rips itself out" of Hol's hand. The manga and anime didn't show this, obviously. Just Emperor phasing in and out from Hol's hand with a synth sound...

But the OVA literally did show the ripping out part (which is kinda scary, tbh...to have a gun rip out of one's arm like some Kazuo Umezu story).

Which makes OVA Hol Horse even cooler, btw.

For a minor character to have a very memorable SFX assigned to him, shows how much Araki actually cared for Hol Horse. He just never had the capacity to expand him during SDC's run. But, from Hol, we were given Gyro (a better Hol Horse, according to the man himself) so that's good.

Connor loved his job. He was a good bartender, and his flirtatious nature ensured that he was usually tipped well. Then there was the music. This was one of those places bands would play once they got past open mics and playing at any bar that would take them. The bands that played here were starting to get somewhere with their music, but still relatively unknown. In other words, Connor got to hear a lot of good music. Today's act was great, and the vocalist was to die for. Before the show he'd been at the bar, and the look he'd given Connor made it very clear that the interest was somewhat mutual, he'd looked like he wanted to eat him up.

So when the show ended and the band withdrew to the little green room in the back Connor loaded up a tray with beers for the band and brought it back there. They always did this, let the band have a free drink, but Connor had insisted on being the one to bring it back today, even before he witnessed Dio's captivating stage presence.

"Hey guys, great show. Just bringing you some refreshments," he said cheerfully as he entered, making the round and passing a beer to each of them, finishing with Dio, holding the bottle toward him, letting his public service grin morph into a sultry smirk. "Now, you were breathtaking up there," he said, "if I may be so bold."

I like fun songs that you can really relate to, like Holy Diver or Rime of the Ancient Mariner

We know in Stardust Crusaders that, most of the Major Arcana stands have a colour assigned to it - Magician's Red, Hermit Purple, Hierophant Green, Star Platinum, Silver Chariot, Yellow Temperance, Dark Blue Moon, Tower of Gray, Ebony Devil...then it stops at Hanged Man and Emperor. Which is a shame, because I very much prefer the colour association.

Recently I found a clothing selection screen for Hol Horse in JJBA's arcade game Last Survivor and there's one template named Emperor Black, which is basically Hol's current design but the outer mustard clothes is black, the dark green inners is gray, and the browns are dark purple.

Was black supposed to be the assigned colour to his Stand? Who knows. But it's a nice assumption.

Also, the black clothes in Last Survivor is kinda cool. Makes him look like a proper assassin.
