Thinking of writing a superhero roommates AU (haven't decided who with Titans, Outsiders, Dick and Jason, Superbat, Babs and Dinah, JLA, so I shall take suggestions) and brain dumped what I found funny:

Can't scold your roommate for not doing their share of the chores because you've been watching the news all day/you both have returned three days later due to a crisis and the place is a mess

A shocking number of supervillains target the building leading other residents to try and figure out why

Your roommate vanished for superheroing reasons and the cops are now at the door because their workplace filed a missing person's and you're the top suspect because you didn't

Blood and gore from injuries everywhere/slime from the monster/dust from the collapsed building

Spending money on suits and tech cuts into rent

You argue in the field and continue arguing all the way to the house and then at each other through thin walls when the mood strikes

Each other's questionable dating life is judged severely

It's actually kind of nice having one person that is in on this massive secret in your life

You will be woken up during Witch business hours to answer moral/ethical quandries

Your roommate waking up at the break of dawn means you also have to train now

You're both first aid trained because injuries

Sometimes you have to pretend to be a clueless civilian around your suited roommate (and be on the news)

Things break a lot. The fire alarm was broken on purpose and hasn't been fixed

The walls are used for murderboards quite often and there are squabbles when one person's murderboard starts invading the sovereign territory of another's

Uhhhh i have no idea what to ask about the werewolf au. Tell me anything about it

I’ll do some other characters within the au to flesh it out a bit:

• no one really questions what happens to GB when she disappears for a week, its why it took Dinah so long to go check on her. Everyone explained that she just kinda disappears for a week and then comes back.

• the only people who have tried to check on Greaseball are her workout buddies (the champion engines in this au) but even they don’t push it past a few texts or phone calls.

• Momma knows about GB’s affliction as Rusty suffers from the same thing, though she makes sure he is taken care of and so his transformations are much easier and not nearly as painful. Porter is the only other person that knows about Rusty being a werewolf and he tries his best to keep it from Lumber, Hydra and Slick. Especially Slick.

• Electra is a vampire. Their components are human but “serve” them (this is hard to explain. They love their vampire bestie). They often have beef with Greaseball because they can both smell each other and often fight over little things, just to assert dominance.

• Belle is a witch who tries to help the others where she can but using magic takes a lot out of her, so she sleeps a lot.

• Momma takes care (tries to at least) of any of the monsters or magical beings, Greaseball refuses her help even though Momma has proven that she can help Greaseball with her transformation.

• when Dinah finds out, Momma teaches her a few tricks to help werewolves and thats when she learns about the other monsters around town.

• anyone not mentioned is kinda unaware that they live with monsters.

Just some fun stuff I’ve been thinkin about in case I end up turning this into like a series I write.

Anyways, explanation time. Mermaids were thought extinct/not real (same as fairies etc) Myst, a wide stretching organization patrols the seas to make sure it stays that way. As well as keeping the local fairy populations a secret. Corollaries are mermaids that can’t really shift into their tail until they meet their corollary. Dinah, after learning this decides to try and get two together. Thus entailing the shenanigans of the corollary, Carol gets her ship taken away and same as her fancy clothes :( and now she works with a skeleton crew and annex to find and separate our lovely neighbor and our sweet Randi. Aspen is a witch (sort of something like an artificer) who got expelled from her coven, and Lori is a plant witch with her little shop. :)

I deadass probably got Carol Cursed this week but I would like to say, I rewatched the Corollary and I have to say the progression of professional passive aggressive behavior to plain loathing for conservator/cricket has made me wheeze (I relate). But I had a few ideas/random AUs and would like to present them to you. (These are all very half baked and I apologize for the rambles)

- Journalist listener somewhere? (Perhaps neighbors with Carol?, perhaps they knew each other? I just think it’d be funny)

- Fantasy AU (kinda speaks for itself but like Randi discovers her and neighbor have some kind of powerful magic bond, aspen is a retired witch, and Dinah/anima are all fae)

-AU where conservator says screw the manipulation at the very beginning and tries to quit over and over but keeps forgetting then remembering.

- We get Zephyn instead of Dinah? AU 👀 (the lil boi seems like a chaotic lil pyromaniac and I think he’d be fun)

1. Was your OC influenced or inspired by any particular fictional character(s) when you made them?

mantis: not really-

chester: he is literally a question parody.

2. What genre (not counting the one they’re in) would your OC thrive in?

mantis: horror? maybe a bit too hardened for regular comedy but could do a black comedy. actually, horror-comedy sounds about right for them.

chester: he’s both so pathetic as well as eccentric to a near-repulsive degree (for those that can’t handle it, anyway… which is most people), that the only option is fantasy. his only option is to be a wizard in some tower rambling about tomes.

3. What genre would your OC do badly in but it would be hilarious or interesting to watch?

mantis: romance/drama/fantasy

chester: LITERALLY all of them but romance/drama takes the cake.

4. What media does your character enjoy? (For characters in settings that aren’t modern Earth, could be media from their home setting or what they’d like in a modern Earth AU)

mantis: within canon, doesn’t really partake in much outside radio new vegas, except for having read the occasional classic. in a modern au, would enjoy classic lit + 80s horror!

chester: COMICS, my god does he love comics. no time for video games, nor much tv. however he does enjoy a good 70s/80s film every once in a while.

5. What song(s) do you associate with your OC?

mantis: dani california - red hot chili peppers, lay down - priestess, got me under pressure - zz top, cold as ice - foreigner, bad company - bad company, you’re gonna go far, kid - the offspring, one little slip - barenaked ladies

chester: super freak - rick james, private eyes - hall & oates, break my stride - matthew wilder, another brick in the wall pt 2 - pink floyd, make your own kind of music - cass elliot, every breath you take - the police, kiss - prince

mantis: assuming modern au… bride of frankenstein, maybe.

chester: you’d think it’d be the question or rorschach or even mr. a but NO, it’s discowing.

mantis: no.

chester: yes. his comic crushes are dinah lance/black canary, ororo munroe/storm, wanda maximoff/scarlet witch…

mantis: probably fix-it fic? occasional crack, smut only if it’s crack or to piss a friend off

chester: he writes the most DEVIANT smut (within ethical reason) KNOWN TO MAN

10. How would your OC do in the last book/movie/tv show/game/etc. you read/watched/played?

mantis: in disco elysium… i mean they would the amnesia side, actual investigation, and politics alright but i think may struggle with that world’s strong personalities. like, would probably have a very hard time playing nice with other folks. which could be for better or for worse, considering the game. i haven’t finished the game, though, so take this with a grain of salt.

chester: in disco elysium, he’d probably care less about the amnesia and just focus on the investigation but would succumb to, uh, crazier thoughts. he would be so repulsively eccentric, he’d probably get his job done in record timing. i haven’t finished the game, though, so take this with a grain of salt.

11. If your OC was a superhero, what would they be like? (powers, title, general vibe, etc.)

mantis: they would have the power of sound manipulation, likely calling themself “soundwave.” as this persona, they would play it more cool than usual; perhaps to terrifying ends, inciting something strange and cold within them. or, more explicitly: they’d have the safety of the physical mask in order to completely drop the social masks and be unabashedly narcissistic. anti-hero.

chester: technically he… kind of already is one? he has no powers, he’s in the venture household’s vents, he wears a rainbow mask and goes by “god molecule” because he was mid-DMT breakthrough when he got the idea to investigate the activity in the area and try to assassinate Rusty… BUT if we mean a classic dc/marvel hero? he’d have the same name and the same crazy-ass vibe, but be a bit quieter due to the fact he’d have the power of telepathy! instead of calling himself “god molecule” because of a DMT breakthrough making him have this batshit revelation, it instead unlocks a part of his brain that dulls hearing others’ thoughts, so long as he’s under the influence of something. that said, this iteration of him would be perpetually stoned as a civilian and only sober in as “god molecule.” however, due to years of hearing others’ thoughts impacting his mental health, he’s still a bit off his rocker when sober. anti-hero.

12. What animal would your OC have as their His Dark Materials daemon?

mantis: either a mantis (obviously), fox, raccoon, spider, or snake

chester: either a squirrel, hare, peacock, goose, or grasshopper

13. What Pokémon would be on your OC’s team and/or what would be their preferred type?

okay so i don’t know many pokémon BUT this is from looking them up

mantis: their poison/fire/steel/bug team is salazzle, revavroom, heatran, scolipede, scizor, and centiskorch

chester: his electric/ice/fairy/bug team is arctozolt, frosmoth, dedenne, clefable, galvantula, and ribombee

mantis: would be a changeling warlock, acolyte background.

chester: would be a kenku ranger, urchin background.

mantis: luck 10!! final girl!! alternatively, survives because they decided to avoid the situation entirely, likely on a gut feeling.

chester: dies first, no question. wouldn’t even try to avoid the situation, probably dies for being too nosy.

mantis: immediately ensures they’ve got food/water/shelter, starts seeing how to get involved with local politics, gets involved with adventuring. they’ve got opinions, and they will make them known. but at the same time, a guy’s gotta stay on the road.

chester: immediately gets into magic, becomes a wizard, gets so wrapped up in learning magic he forgets everything else for decades until he resurfaces and decides the fantasy version of the hatman (probably some type of old one or whatever) charged him with taking over the world.

WIP: One half a dead witch

Mara: #1 mixologist and barista, always coming up with new seasonal drinks to test on her regulars

Dinah: Comes in with her grandma every day, she's a black coffee no sugar kinda gal but grandma is in love with Maras horrifying sugary concoctions

Ok I’ll bite- what is the babysitting disaster head canon?

Hihihi okay okay

Its an au i came up with remembering my own shitty babysitter and i just went "huh, OllieDinah lore"

So lets start

Ollie had always babysitted Bruce during gala's as he's 8+ years older (B is like 7 in this au)

It started when he was the only one who wanted to listen to Bruce talk about frogs and snakes for hours. He soon got fond of the little weirdo and actually looked forward to gala's

A while later B needs a babysitter and guess who applied and got the "job". Not Ollie. It was the daughter of a certain officer Lance.

Dinah and Bruce also got really close. They shared interest in the supernatural and crime. Ollie was having none of it.

That was his emotional support witch child

(Yes,, im still witch child/ child of morgana batman trash)

So one day, when Ollie knew Dinah had to babysit again, he came as a surpise, for Bruce he said, not bc he's jealous.

What he did not know was that that day was the day Dinah and B had decided to go ghosthunting, in wayne manor.

Not wanting to leave B alone with a "stranger" (he's so fckn jealous) he joined on their little "witch hunt".

Oliver, being skeptic by nature, made fun of all things supernatural, while in Wayne Manor, a huinted manor.

Dinah getting pretty fed up with this rich kid's shit, lashes out and tells him to shut up, rather crudely. She covered Bruce's ears don't worry.

This starts an argument, which starts more arguments, and more and more. B, also getting fed up, activated one of the secret passage ways in the manor, sending the duo in another hallway.

Bruce had already explored most of the manor, he knew what was where and who possessed what. He just wanted to show Dinah some cool ghost stuff in the old library.

So when he hears Ollie and Dinah fight, he thought it was a good idea to put them in one of the passage ways so they can spend some time together and make up, or kill each other, which ever happened first.

He just wants his friends to get along

Anyway, Dinah and Ollie freak out of course, they're lost in a haunted mansion, alone, and little Bruce is nowhere to be found.

Bruce is actually in the servant passage way, right next to them, having the time of his life.

Once a little shit, always a little shit.

As Ollie and Dinah start looking for Bruce and a way out, Bruce pulls some pranks here and there, scaring the living shit out of them.

Dinah and Oliver start talking about other things as a distraction and they find out the other is not too bad.

Oliver may even start to develop a little crush, after all, Dinah is a fucking badass, she's leading them out of whatever the fuck they're in.

Im going to round it up now bc it isnt finished yet and its getting long, but Ollie and Dinah get out with a little help of Bruce, they're convinced everything they saw was real and supernatural, Bruce finds it too funny to tell them it was (mostly) him. Dinah moves to Star, she and Ollie have dont have a lot of contact due to too much happening with the move and school.

Skip a few years later, Justice league gets created, they realize who's who and start dating. They bring up their experience in a conversation about the supernatural with the league, cue Batman laughing his ass off and two "you little shit-" 's.
