4.25.19 I am showcasing here some of my songwriting from years ago. 2012 to be exact. Playing with my fingers came after exploring the idea of playing classical guitar. I mixed some of what I learned from Thomas Erak from the Fall of Troy, with the idea 2- and 3-note voicings -- which I found in some of the classical pieces I tried learning. "One" and "Earth", the songs video taped here, are songs I created using those methods, along with guitar chord shapes I understood to be comfortable. I also discovered new shapes in the process of writing this music. I really let my ear guide my playing for these tunes. These are clips of each song, around a minute for each. 4.24.19 I started writing a song I call, "Special", after hearing the song @aaronintervals wrote called, "I'm Awake", a while after it first came out. Inspired by previous influence from The Fall of Troy's Thomas Erak of hammering-on and pulling-off between rhythm chord voicings -- exhibited in "I Just Got This Symphony Goin'" -- I combined that with an idea triggered by a riff that also involved hammer-ons in Aaron Marshall's aforementioned song, "I'm Awake". I posted a video of segment of the song I wrote, as well as the inspiring parts of song by Erak and Marshall.
