Holding hands while driving - Dillon/Ziggy

Dillon likes Ziggy's hands. He likes how long they are and how thin and pale. Dillon likes holding them, it's a reminder of who he loves, of the power Dillon has and how much Ziggy trusts him not to use that power against Ranger Green.

Ziggy likes holding Dillon’s hands too. It's a reminder of how much they've gone through. Of the protection Dillon graces him with. Of the promise Dillon has given him that he won't run again.

Dillon rubs his thumb over Ziggy's knuckles, not looking away from the road. Ziggy, asleep in the passenger seat, mumbles under his breath, eyelids flickering. Dillon hums a little, which has never failed to settle Ziggy's hyperactive mind. True to form, Ziggy settles immediately with a sigh.

They're just driving around right now. With Venjix gone and Tenaya free, Dillon has a lot of free time on his hands. Usually, he spends it with Scott, helping shape up the new military folks by sparring with the recruits. Right now, he's using it to help Ziggy sleep. It's pitch black out, midnight, but the headlights of the Fury aren't on. Dillon doesn't need lights to see with the robotic enhancements to his eyes.

Ziggy sighs, shuffling a little closer, his head on the middle console and brushing against Dillon's arm. Dillon hums again, gently bringing Ziggy’s hand to his lips and kissing the back without taking his eyes off the road.

"Love you, Dil," Ziggy mumbles with a happy hum.

Dillon smiles. "Love you, too, Zig."

looking back on the fic I've written in the last few years and my own sexuality journey has made me realize that there is an argument that poly folk and ace/aro folk process love in a lot of the same ways, like the idea that you can have significant, life-defining relationships with different people and you get something important and sometimes even a similar flavor from each relationship but each one is still fundamentally different and significant in its own way and sometimes you don't want sex but you do want hugs and your partner may be having sex with their other partner but that does not make your relationship any less important because they come back to hug you and having more hearts bound up in your own is never a bad thing, because being loved no matter the form is never a bad thing, you are lovable and you can love so many people and having a heart overflowing with love for other people and things and the universe just means that you're healing and finding the people who fit you in whatever way that comes and there will always be someone cooking in the kitchen filling your heart and stomach no matter what and in this essay i will-

You asked for this man. Dillon/Ziggy 🔪🔪🔪

Dillon had hoped to avoid this outcome.

At first, Ziggy went with him willingly. He was the only thing Dillon had wanted to take with him from the Garage when he left, other than his car, of course. The others had protested, but let them leave at the threat of Ziggy's death. Ziggy would have done anything for Dillon as long as he continued to believe there was good in the hybrid.

What a damn fool he was.

Ziggy was good at first, followed orders really well. He did everything he was asked - stay here, follow me, love me. He asked a lot of questions, but Dillon expected that. He's the one that wanted Ziggy, after all. Dillon never allowed him to leave the Venjix base, unless they were going for a drive or Dillon needed his particular skill set.

Then the Rangers hurt Tenaya. No, they killed Tenaya. Of course, Dillon could rebuild her, but she wouldn't be the same. She wouldn't be as human as Ziggy or even half as human as he was. He would never forgive them for taking away the only blood he had left.

Now he was going to take theirs. And he was going to use their own powers against them.

"I-I can't." Ziggy protested, pain in his voice. He backed away slowly, as much as he could in their shared bedroom. "I don't want to fight them, Dillon. They're my friends."

Dillon knew he would say that. He knew that eventually Ziggy would deny a request. Ziggy had helped him repair Attack Bots, locate Ranger gear, and even steal items from the Rangers themselves - but there had to be a line drawn eventually.

Dillon can't allow any defiance, especially from his consort.

"I'm sorry, Ziggy." He said softly, just before hitting him hard and fast, instantly knocking him out cold.

Dillon wasted no time in moving his lover out of the bedroom and to the workroom. He wasn't going to change much - not like Tenaya. He didn't want Ziggy to... well, not be Ziggy. He just wanted him to obey. And he wanted his revenge on the Rangers to hurt.

It didn't take long to install the new parts into Ziggy's head. He didn't need much else. Dillon would make sure that Ziggy would remain as human as possible for as long as he could physically handle it. Until then, this would do. With this simple enhancement, Ziggy was perfect.

When he finally came to, Dillon was right by his side, holding one hand. Ziggy brought the other hand up to feel his bandaged head.

"How do you feel?" Dillon asked him softly.

"Like shit." Ziggy responded, smirking. "My head hurts."

Dillon smiled at him, then said, "I'm sure it does. Surgery will do that to a person--"

"Surgery?!" Ziggy yelped, both hands going to his head, feeling it all over.

"It's fine, Zig." Dillon assured him. "I just needed to ensure that I had your complete allegiance to our cause." He hadn't been sure how Ziggy would react. To his pleasure, the boy lowered his hands, face going from confused to a solemn expression. With this, he pushed, "I have a couple questions for you. Do you love me?"

Ziggy's face lit up in a smile as he nodded, "Yes, Sir, I sure do!"

Dillon smiled back at him, then asked, "Would you follow me anywhere?"

Ziggy nodded again, eyes shining with honesty. "Yes, Sir. I always have, and I always will."

"Would you leave the Rangers for me?" He asked, creeping closer to his purpose for this whole ordeal.

Ziggy nodded, his smile faltering, but he continued to say, "Yes, Sir. I already have, and I'd do it all over again."

Finally, Dillon asked, "Ziggy, would you kill for me?"

Smile gone, jaw clenched, eyes hard with certainty, he nodded once more, and affirmed, "Yes, Sir. I would do anything you asked of me."

It was time for his revenge.

When the battle came, the Rangers weren't prepared. An Attack Bot like any other was phase one, then Dillon appeared as a distraction. They saw that coming, of course. They had fought Dillon several times at this point. They hadn't been prepared for Ziggy to appear, morphed, weapons raised at them.

They didn't have time to gather themselves. Between the Grinders, the Attack Bot, and now Dillon and Ziggy combined -- they were simply unprepared.

Before Ziggy, unmorphed and defenseless, lay Scott. Summer, Flynn, Gem, and Gemma were all held by Grinders. All unmorphed. Dillon swaggered around them, flaunting their captured morphers.

"You thought you all were so strong. You thought you could win." He got down to look at Scott. "You thought you could get away with murder."

"That's rich coming from you, Dillon!" Flynn shouted as he tried to wriggle free from the Grinder's hold.

"Ziggy, don't do this." Scott whispered, looking up at his old friend.

"Ziggy, shoot Flynn." Dillon ordered immediately, not taking his eyes off the horrified look in his former leader's eyes as the green ranger pulled out his blaster and fired at Flynn.

When the smoke cleared, Flynn laid on the ground, alongside several Grinders.

Summer, Gem, and Gemma cried and screamed at them, shouting insults Dillon hadn't ever heard from the happy-go-lucky silver and gold rangers.

Dillon couldn't hide his smile. He couldn't be more proud of his Ziggy. The look of pain that had planted in Scott's face was exactly what he wanted. Dillon grabbed hold of Scott, forcing his head up and toward the others.

"This is what you get for killing my sister, Truman." Dillon hissed in the other man's ear. "You get to watch one of your own kill the rest of your team. And then I'm gonna kill you."

"Dillon, please!" Scott begged.

"Kill them all, Ziggy."

"Yes, Sir."

Something I thought about recently about power rangers RPM is that we don’t really know how long Ziggy and Dillon were out in the wastes together.

Could’ve been a day

Probably wasn’t a month, but it could’ve

Because we just don’t know

Furthermore, I think it would be incredibly funny if they did only spend like a day together in the wastes because it means that Dillon looked at the small, scruffy, Adhd gremlin that is Ziggy Grover who almost got his ass beat in prison with terrible jokes and sarcastic quips, with his silly little shadow puppets and went

“That one. I want that one.”

It gets even more funny the shorter the amount of time they spent driving into Corinth together because it just means that Dillon, who canonically gets attached to people pretty quick and really hard (get out of here with that “you guys are the answer. I’m just looking for the question” bullshit, you’re gonna make me cry), found the first scrawny, barely making it human being he maybe has ever remembered meeting and adopted him immediately.

Hilarious. Peak comedy. Love these dorks with all my heart.

Dillion forces Ziggy to eat more because he’s seen how skinny Ziggy’s body is. He doesn’t admit it but it does really worry him seeing how boney Ziggy is while seeing him change in their room (I imagine Ziggy was dirt poor growing up so he didn’t get to eat so often)
