#was feeling absolutely wretched last night after I showered so I decided to watch a Big Country concert from 1995#and not only was it ROUGH but I was also spoiled of some of BC's 'Why the Long Face?' songs and I was like#'oh no...this is what that album sounds like? so gratingly and unmistakeably '90s that they could've been by Alanis Morrisette#and I wouldn't have known the difference? ah. well...great. now I know how I'll feel about that album.' :| lol#(I actually do not intend shade toward Alanis btw. but surely anyone understands that by listening to even Jagged Little Pill it sounds#like there is no way those songs could've come from literally any other decade but the '90s. and that's what that BC album sounds like too#I'm betting. :/ which is disappointing tbh. although I liked ''I'm Not Ashamed''! but it too ended very '90s-ish and I was like 'dammit'...#well! now I know what order I'll listen to BC's last three albums in; saving WTLF for last...lol#also no watching the concert did not make me feel better and I didn't even finish it (but I was too tired to anyway)

Rereading any of the multiple parts of TCY where Japeth is just. actually going insane and being a loser feels like this sometimes. yknow what i mean bro was STRUGGLING

i do wish death parade stuck with just the more intimate case-by-case story structure overall... the wider worldbuilding and narrative just doesn't hold up that well and i personally get impatient in the middle of the series 💔 i think going super vague with how arbiting works and adding more judgements would have made for a stronger series overall, with the overarching narrative just sticking to chiyuki's arc and maybe one or two other arbiter judgements like they did with ginti if they wanted to still make the world feel wider. though i really think making it smaller overall would have really been the move...
#the only series ive ever wanted to be almost completely episodic lol.... its just such a fantastic episodic premise 😭#i was wondering why i didn't remember past the first 4 or so episodes and then i was like ohhh#thats all they do before they start doing other stuff 😭 the judgment pairs are the meat#like i just want 12 episodes of that....#the worldbuilding is just so weak for how much the intended plot relies on it... also doesnt make sense#'arbiters cant stop passing judgement' but quin explicitly got a department change and stopped passing judgement#nona also is an arbiter i think and she doesnt do judgements either#they treat arbiter like a species not a job title so idk...#'arbiters cant feel human emotion' but theres no distinction made for what that is....#ginti is angry and pissed off all the time. he's sentimental. he's fond of his cat. he's egotistical. those are all human emotions...#the new fourth rule doesnt hold up because the third doesnt make sense to begin with#i do think arbiters being upcycled from the void is a great concept too bad they only mention it in passing at the end LOL#also idk why ginti cant pass judgement on that teenage girl 💀#ik she's a unique person and he's not great at his job but i do think its pretty clean cut#shes a passionate alt teenage/young adult girl... shes not fundamentally flawed or secretly evil.... send her back up 😭#i really dont even understand her ending.... whyd he bring harada back to have her make a moral statement#only to just send her into the void because she wanted to be with him...#sacrificing herself so he wouldnt be alone in the void is the second time she's selfless like that#so like.... why actually send her to the void 😭#makes for an awesome scene though....#the skating scene is also still one of my all time favs..... so so so beautiful and awesome....#dp

#putting this in the tags bc it's kinda a rant lol but#the s4 finale feels like forever ago and i think it's important to remember how everything went down#gabriel didn't just die - he was violently murdered#someone came to his house with a gun intending to kill him and succeeded#andrea watched him bleed out and carlos was on the phone - probably heard the entire thing#they were talking about getting the floor replaced because they couldn't get his blood out of it#that is so incredibly violent and traumatic to have happen#idk there's a lot of discussion about how this is going to affect tarlos and the kind of obsession carlos is going to spiral into#and i think this is important to remember alongside that#it feels like forever ago bc the eps aired like a year and a half ago at this point but for carlos it will still feel fresh#it will still feel immediate and as violent as it actually was#this is really huge and practically impossible to compartmentalize there's just so much in it#he's going to spiral and tbh i think that's for very good reason i'd be surprised if he didn't#idk! excited to see what they do with it how they explore this i think it'll be really good#neha rambles

i will never not find it hilarious that they completely forgot to animate patty at the very end of the final cutscene in the last three frames of the whole group
and the dub didn't even give her voiced lines when everyone was shouting they so the localization forgot about her too
#GTF Vesperia Things#the loc also changed her line from “it stopped?” to “it's over?” which is awkward#bc i'm pretty sure she was referring to the blastia+spirit's power not working as they intended#i know the DE loc was really wonky and they rly just went what's a consistency tho#but it's actually very jarring for me to play the DE version bc the loc was actually relatively on point originally#and then all the additions and changes are super awkward in the loc#like flynn saying good luck out there to yuri if you sleep at the inn at aurnion... even tho he's literally in the party#you can tell they didn't actually check the original script for accuracy/consistency AT ALL#just really feels like they didn't care much about it ultimately and just shoved it out#the remake is what i have access to rn but like... the original was def better and like#as someone who did play the original numerous times it's so blatantly obvious where they changed/added stuff#esp since patty's lines outside of anything immediately directed at her own story#were almost entirely throwaway lines they stuck in there just to give her lines to make her more present#i'd say about half of flynn's added lines if not more for anything he wasn't originally part of were similar#like anything that was exactly the same except they stuck in a few extra lines for those two#and like... i love flynn but imo the DE version really didn't do him that much more justice (n-no pun intended)#and like it doesn't matter that they did plan patty originally bc ultimately she got cut#which meant making the entire story/plot without her; so adding her back in LATER is like... why did you fucking bother removing her then#they ended up having to forcefully stick her back in anyway and whatever she would've had in the first place#prob would've been better/integrated better into the story than trying to squeeze in lines wherever possible#and I say that bc her lines (and a chunk of flynn's) don't actually change anything. chars will respond the same with or without their line#like... hearts r did really great in integrating a new char into the main party#even if i usually do NOT like additions to the main cast in remakes and is usually why i don't want remakes in the first place for tales#and then you've got innocence r which just butchered everything with its additions#and vespy is right in the middle as like... why bother (for money i know but still)#also tho honestly with how little flynn is even actually playable it's still a big why bother for me#bc yeah i do love having him there and i do love the sidequest stuff with him#but the biggest difference between hearts r and the vespy remake is that they didn't really... remake it#they just stuck new things into existing unchanged content and added a little bit more and reused the base game#if the tag count is still thirty im out of tags lol i just have a lot of Feelings abt this remake
