A handful of songs for Mono and Seven, but let's let Six have some glory and discuss a song for her:
Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day.
This song might fit multiple LN characters, but I think it fits Six the most.
You said that Six is a lone wolf, so the song's constant theme of being alone suits her. The 'what's f*cked up' bit could reference her being repulsed of screwed up things like her finding out that kids are being cooked and served as food in the Maw (cannibalism), and she has to choose picking between the sausage she knows is made of human flesh or a Nome (just a critter as far as she knows and that she may have hugged up to 12 of before).
And the line from the song that's made for her is 'My shadow's the only one that walks beside me', because of Shadow Six.
Ah, a Six playlist!
Yes, Boulevard of Broken Dreams... the lyrics fit well. Great choice! ~~~
Ruins (Ella Isaacson) - Voices in the head, trapped in a madhouse, burning betrayal, the ending is an escape... walking away from the ruins.
Blood // Water (grandson) - Sacrifices, corrupt systems, the price of greed, poisoned.
Without Me (Halsey) - Supporting someone you feel left you behind. In a way, that person moving on to bigger more powerful things because of what you did for them... even if the context for this is wrong.
Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea (XYLO) - Circling tides like time, drowning, needing saving; the choice between the chaos of the land or the chaos of the sea and being stuck amidst both of them.
Run Boy Run (Woodkid) - Also befitting of Mono and Seven... Fleeing from a world not meant for you. People trying to catch you. One day you'll grow up, but for now you are young and must flee when you are powerless.
Living in the Shadows (Matthew Perryman Jones) - Confused on who the enemy is. Shadows. Feeling like something was taken from you. Seeing a truth others can't. No longer hiding from one's dark side.
Falling Inside the Black (Skillet) - Dreaming of the way things used to be. Having a connection with someone. That someone leaving you in some way. Begging to not be alone. Falling into darkness.
Youth (Daughter) - Those who still breathe are lucky, because you breathe through corruption. Shadows settle in after someone left. Chasing the future. One day revealing the truth that could threaten your life. Apathy. Old memories recollected. Destruction caused by someone important, a shocking revelation. A silhouette, a shadow of yourself than you were before. Bitter feelings. Perhaps still missing the one who your feelings have soured for.
Vandalize (ONE OK ROCK) - Safety, rebuilding... caught off guard, broken heart, betrayal, marked by those you once knew.
Goodbye (Ramsey) - Memories of bloodshed; smoke up ahead. No longer recognizing one's home... wondering where your childhood friend disappeared to. Deciding its time to say goodbye to it all.
Fault Line (The Rigs) - Standing up to a world as a hero, only to flee and hide when the world bites back. Crushed dreams, caught in the wreckage, unable to tell friend from foe. Caught in the crossfire of the war inside one's soul. Searching for that someone... no matter what side they are on.
Living Hell (Bella Poarch) - Don't let people close. Threaten to make one's life a living Hell. Won't change. Always been cruel.
Two Birds (Regina Spektor) - Two friends. One rambunctious and free. The other promises they too will be like this... but lies.
Carousel (Melanie Martinez) - Round and round like a time loop. No turning back. Running through playland hand in hand. Freakshows together. Disappearing act.
Tag, You're it (Melanie Martinez) - Playing tag. Rough housing. Getting kidnapped.
Milk and Cookies (Melanie Martinez) - Lunacy, craziness. Singing a lullaby where you die at the end. Cookies baked sweet and poisoned for you. Never want to see you again. Ashes burning down.
Playground (Bea Miller) - Playground of nightmares and fantasies. Welcome to the lost and found. Prices to pay, sinking into the wasteland.
Mountains (Message to Bears) - (Also works for Mono and Seven) Running away into the night, always could have. Maybe never could have.
Gasoline (Halsey) - Been insane, been in pain. Wasting a pretty face. This isn't a dream. Part of the machine. Not human. Living on a screen. A face made up. Lighting matches. Pointing fingers. Voices in your head. Heart of gold, but hands are cold.
Season of the Witch (Donovan) - Things to see. Strange faces, strange places. Witches and stitches. Surreal and paranormal.
DARKSIDE (Neoni) - No heroes or villains. Shadows in your head. Phantoms. Monsters and demons. Darksides. Embracing madness. Living in nightmares.
Dolls (Bella Poarch) - Cute, polite doll. Deranged and backstabbing beneath. Knife under the sheets. Bitter and Sweet. Provoked and then attacked. Walking all over those who went after you.
INFERNO (Sub Urban, Bella Poarch) - Sweet but villainous. Run away. Be afraid as she loses her head.
Evil Spider (BENEE) - Tangled together. Never letting go. Won't bite unless you hurt me or struggle. Fangs out. Run and hide.

Today I finished my first month on my new medication. All of the side effects have subsided, and it should be getting well into my system by now. And I feel good. Not every day, and certainly not without a few very bad days in between, but in general, I feel better than I have in over a year. My memory is beginning to get better, I find myself doing puzzles rather than napping all day, I feel better about my job, and I have hopes for the future. In this last month, I came out to my parents, which was a very big step for me. I was able to understand why I was trying to rush back to a life that no longer belongs to me when I have a new one right here, one based on what I want and not what other people expect from me. I have been able to rationally make long term goals and take tangible steps towards making them a reality. I have called people and made appointments without having to be told to. I have accepted that this is where I am right now, and this is living. I'm not waiting for something to happen, because I'm going to make things happen myself. These things probably sound like not much of a feat to many people. But when I look back and realize that a year ago, I was well into a depressive spiral that ended up with me in the hospital, I realize that this is true progress. The kind people have been telling me I'd eventually make. The kind I didn't believe was possible. I know it's only the first month. And I know I still have a very long road ahead of me full of bad days and dark places, but I finally have hope again. Medication can be a miracle, and I hope that everyone who struggles with mental illness is able to find a treatment plan that gives them hope again too. I'm really just very glad I get to be around to see another spring come to this town.

I've been reading your hcs and noticed that we might share some similar taste in music!! If you could, which artists would you recommend to each of the Obey Me characters?
Hi! Thank you leaving me a request. I'll use some of my favorite artists (top 25 or so most listened to artists) here so you can see what kind of artists I usually listen to! I'll also include other artists that I may not listen that much myself but I think fits the vibe.
Lucifer
Fiona Apple
Example lyrics:
I have never been so insulted in all my life
I could swallow the seas to wash down all this pride
First you run like a fool just to be at my side
And now you run like a fool but you just run to hide
I can't abide
Others: Doesn't he like, love classical music? He'd probably like classical musicians from the human world too, like Vivaldi, Bach, Debussy or Beethoven. When he's feeling risque, he might switch up to jazz, who knows.
Mammon
Måneskin
Example lyrics
Oh, mamma-mia ma, ma-mamma-mia, ah
They treat me like if I did something criminal
All eyes on me I feel like I'm a superstar
I'm not a freak, I just thought it was a carnival
Others: Mammon likes anything that gets you to dance, whether it's pop, rock, hiphop or something else. He'd like anything that's trending on TikTok. Maybe stuff like Lil Nas X or Willow, but also has a secret soft spot for stuff like Ricky Montgomery, Conan Gray and Harry Styles.
Leviathan
宇宙ネコ子 (Uchū Nekoko)
Example lyrics (translated from Japanese->English)
Living in a manga world
Without any difficulties
Devil lies dormant within my days
You looked into me
Barely laughing at those feelings
Barely showing a smile
Others: Levi would love all j-pop and k-pop. Also Vocaloid and video game music. He'd probably prefer girl bands, like Dreamcatcher, BLACKPINK or TWICE.
Satan
Mitski
Example lyrics:
So if you need to be mean
Be mean to me
I can take it and put it inside of me
If your hands need to break
More than trinkets in your room
You can lean on my arm
As you break my heart
Others: I feel like Satan would have an eclectic music taste. He'd like a lot of different genres, but tends to stick with the same artists for a long time. I can see him vibing to St. Vincent or Bon Iver though, so maybe indie mostly? He'd also love to listen to rock and alternative whenever he's pissed off.
Asmodeus
Taylor Swift
Example lyrics:
What must it be like
To grow up that beautiful?
With your hair falling into place like dominoes
My mind turns your life into folklore
I can't dare to dream about you anymore
Others: Honestly, any pop girlie, especially Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa and Doja Cat. Also femal rappers like Nicki Minaj, Lizzo, Cupcakke (botn ironically and unironically) and Cardi B.
Beelzebub
The Orion Experience
Example lyrics:
Cookie, I wanna be the flicker that sparks your red-hot cinnamon smile
Wild cherry, pixie stix, can I get a little fix?
Once you get me fired up, I don't know when to quit
Others: I feel like he's be down with some rnb and hiphop. Frank Ocean came to my mind first. Would also like some late 90s to 00s rock bands, like The Killers, The Strokes and Franz Ferdinand.
Belphegor
Mother Mother
Example lyrics:
Back in the head where I see red
Where the beast and the beauty coalesce
I give in to a morbid fantasy
Death to a billion families and me
Others: He'd love emo and alternative bands from the 00s and 10s, like My Chemical Romance, Good Charlotte, Green Day, Fall Out Boy and Panic! At the Disco. He actually likes Olivia Rodrigo but would never admit that.
Diavolo
Queen
Example lyrics:
Here we stand or here we fall
History won't care at all
Make the bed, light the light
Lady Mercy won't be home tonight
Others: Diavolo would like all music from the human world, but I think the would prefer upbeat songs. Maybe rnb or soul, like Beyoncé, maybe The Weeknd? Janelle Monáe?
Barbatos
Regina Spektor
Example lyrics:
And somewhere on the hill
Inside the past we hear the bells
Catching only parts of thoughts
And fragmens of ourselves
'Til we begin again
Others: Again, isn't it canon that Babratos likes metal music? I'm from Finland so there were and stil are a lot of cool metals bands in here, like Nightwish, Amorphis, Children of Bodom, Sentenced and HIM.
Simeon
Flower Face
Example lyrics:
You laugh like an angel
With comatose love in your eyes
Like a sleeping city
You put me to rest in your gravestone chest
Tell me I've never looked so pretty
Others: I feel like Simeon would like a lot of older music (50s-80s) and indie folk. He's totally love The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac and Bee Gees but also Fleet Foxes and Sufjan Stevens.
Solomon
Wolf Alice
Example lyrics:
A moment's madness
Compliments your innocence
I tried all night to initiate
And I only ever try to have fun
I'm only old when I don't feel young
And if you're with me, yeah
You can come, yeah, along
Others: Solomon would like a lot of different music too. He'd also absolutely watch The Eurovision Song Contest every year. I think he'd usually go for rock, pop, psychedelic stuff or punk. I could see him listening to Paramore, Radiohead, Gorillaz and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.
Luke
ABBA
Example lyrics:
Chiquitita, tell me the truth
I'm a shoulder you can cry on
Your best friend, I'm the one you must rely on
You were always so sure of yourself
Now I see you've broken a feather
I hope we can patch it up together
Others: Disney sounds tracks! Just generally lighter, chill music. Pop, lo-fi or folk mostly. Also gospel/worship music. Maybe orchestral/instrumental to seem more mature. Also jams to older music with Simeon. Examples: Cavetown, Lord Huron..

I made another Snowpiercer playlist!
After posting my Wilford/Audrey playlist a while ago, I added some songs that didn’t quite make the cut to a different playlist, intending to put together another similar one. But rather than focusing on just one ship this time, I also ended up getting really interested in theorizing about what Wilford’s relationship with Melanie might have been like before the Freeze, and exploring the idea that maybe there was something going on there and some kind of love triangle with Audrey.
So here’s my new playlist, full of absolute jams that could apply to any combination of relationships involving Wilford, Audrey, and Melanie, and/or just general Snowpiercer vibes! Read on for more detail about the songs I selected, and as before, content warning for references to canon abuse & self-harm/suicide.
1. “The Tradition” by Halsey
Oh, the loneliеst girl in town Was bought for plenty a price Well, they dress her up in golden crowns His smile hides a lie
She smiles back, but it's a fact That her fear will eat her alive Well, she got the life that she wanted But now all she does is cry
Thanks @onetrainsnowpiercer for getting me into this excellent album! I thought it would be fitting to kick off the playlist with one that could suit the earlier days of Wilford’s relationship with Audrey, like my previous playlist was more focused on.
2. “cardigan” by Taylor Swift
'Cause I knew you Steppin' on the last train Marked me like a bloodstain, I
I knew you Tried to change the ending Peter losing Wendy, I
I knew you Leavin' like a father Running like water, I And when you are young, they assume you know nothing
Did you think I would make a Snowpiercer playlist without Taylor Swift on it? Not a chance. I picture this one being more from Melanie’s perspective, reflecting on possibly having had some kind of ill-fated romance with Wilford when she was young and naive.
3. “No Children” by The Mountain Goats
I hope I cut myself shaving tomorrow I hope it bleeds all day long Our friends say it's darkest before the sun rises We're pretty sure they're all wrong
I hope it stays dark forever I hope the worst isn't over And I hope you blink before I do And I hope I never get sober
The only reason this perennial favourite of mine wasn’t on the first playlist was that I had too many Mountain Goats songs already and wanted to keep things balanced. But this one got all the ones that didn’t make it to the first playlist plus some more I thought about later, so I’m kind of giving up on that balance by now. They just have a lot of great songs about terrible relationships, and I love them all so much.
4. “Gold Guns Girls” by Metric
I remember when we were gambling to win Everybody else said, "Better luck next time." I don't wanna bend like the bad girls bend I just wanna be your friend Is it ever gonna be enough?
This is another one that I can picture being about young Melanie, gradually growing more aware of everything that’s terribly wrong with Wilford and his approach to life, and of how little he cares to try to fix it.
5. “You’ve Haunted Me All My Life” by Death Cab for Cutie
And there's a flaw in my heart's design For I keep trying to make you mine
You've haunted me all my life You've haunted me all my life You are the mistress I can't make a wife And you've haunted me all my life
And this one I can see being Wilford thinking about either one of the women, and his unhealthy attachment to them and inability to keep them around for very long—maybe once he’s finally reunited with them both on some level in season 2, but still can’t fully persuade them both over to his side.
6. “Old College Try” by The Mountain Goats
From the cities to the swamplands From the highways to the hills Our love has never had a leg to stand on From the aspirins to the cross-tops to the Elavils
But I will walk down to the end with you If you will come all the way down with me
Another Mountain Goats classic. If you divorce it from its context of being from a concept album about a horrible marriage, I actually think this song is kind of sweet in the way it describes a couple still committing to try to make things work despite a whole host of problems. But never mind that now, because I’m putting it back in the new context of a whole collection of horrible romantic relationships!
7. “Risk” by Metric
So you're beaten up but you bounce back It’s all part of the pull And the story runs like a soundtrack We repeat 'til we're full Started slow, started late Started strong, then we lost faith Started slow, started to lose control The more we accelerate, the more we accelerate
Half of arranging any playlist I make is just trying to split up the Mountain Goats and Metric songs so that they aren’t always clumped together. Anyway, this one seems especially fitting to me in its imagery of a speeding vehicle of some kind (it’s a train, I’m always picturing a train) alongside its description of a relationship going badly.
8. “Big God” by Florence + The Machine
You know I still like you the most The best of the best and the worst of the worst Well, you can never know The places that I go I still like you the most You'll always be my favourite ghost
I think this one could be any one of the three of them contemplating their complex feelings about the past at some point around season 2.
9. “I Still Do” by The Cranberries
I don't want to leave you Even though I have to I don't want to love you Oh, I still do
There aren’t as many specifics that match the characters going on in the lyrics here, since it’s more of just a general break-up song, but I also really like the creepy way it sounds.
10. “Fault Lines” by The Mountain Goats
But none of the money we spend Seems to do us much good in the end I got a cracked engine block, both of us do
Yeah, the house and the jewels, the Italian racecar They don't make us feel better about who we are I got termites in the framework, so do you
This one feels really fitting for pre-Freeze Wilford, especially the engine imagery!
11. “I Don’t Care” by Fall Out Boy
Say my name and his in the same breath I dare you to say they taste the same Let the leaves fall off in the summer And let December glow in flames
Erase myself and let go Start it over again in Mexico These friends, they don't love you They just love the hotel suites
Another song that is simply a) an absolute jam, and b) generally fitting for my favourite obscenely rich asshole and his terrible relationships
12. “You asked for this” by Halsey
I want my cake on a silver platter I want a fistful in my hands I want a beautiful boy's despondent laughter I wanna ruin all my plans I want a fist around my throat I wanna cry so hard, I choke I want everything I asked for
This one I can picture as Audrey—or maybe Melanie too, but especially Audrey—beginning to regret getting involved with Wilford, but only once she’s in way too deep for leaving to be a safe or easy decision.
13. “my tears ricochet” by Taylor Swift
And if I'm dead to you, why are you at the wake? Cursing my name, wishing I stayed Look at how my tears ricochet
Much like several other Taylor Swift songs, I just know in my heart that it’s the type of music Wilford listens to in secret, while possibly drunk and definitely singing along very dramatically. This one he dedicates to Melanie once they’ve met up again in season 2.
14. “Speed the Collapse” by Metric
All the way from where we came Built a mansion in a day Distant lightning, thunder claps Watched our neighbor's house collapse Looked the other way
This one has a lot of good apocalyptic imagery that I can imagine scoring Wilford’s life in the last few years before the Freeze, as he makes his plans to save himself and let so many others die.
15. “Ox Baker Triumphant” by The Mountain Goats
I will thank my ride and crawl my way back inside To the guts of the building where my enemies Hide in the dark like roaches And I will signal the camera crew and everyone will do What he's been trained how to do Sweat dripping from my face as my moment approaches
Click your heels, count to three I bet you never expected me A little worse for wear Practically walking on air
I love this song a lot, and listening to it lately makes me imagine Wilford plotting his revenge while on his way to catch up with Snowpiercer before the end of season 1.
16. “Firewood” by Regina Spektor
The piano is not firewood yet But the cold does get cold So it soon might be that I'll take it apart, call up my friends And we'll warm up our hands by the fire
Don't look so shocked Don't judge so harsh You don't know You’re only spying Everyone knows it's going to hurt But at least we'll get hurt trying
This has to be one of my favourite songs of all time. It’s very beautiful, and I love the piano in it. I’ve always personally interpreted it to be at least partially about someone surviving a suicide attempt, and the overall imagery about burning a piano for warmth—and this bit about not judging someone for doing that—reads to me as more of a general statement about the difficult choices people struggling with mental illness and other similar issues have to make to survive. I listened to it recently and I could picture Audrey singing it in the nightcar. I think it suits her well.
17. “Cry for Judas” by The Mountain Goats
But I am just a broken machine And I do things that I don't really mean Long, black night Morning frost I'm still here But all is lost
I think the imagery of this song suits the show a lot in general, but I can also particularly imagine it being Wilford in a rare moment of self-awareness about how much damage he’s caused to the world and the people around him.
18. “Rock ‘n’ Roll Suicide” by David Bowie
Time takes a cigarette, puts it in your mouth You pull on your finger, then another finger, then your cigarette The wall-to-wall is calling, it lingers, then you forget Oh oh, oh, oh, you're a rock 'n' roll suicide
I love Wilford a lot. I don’t want anything bad to happen to him ever. I hope he kills more people, and I hope he gets his train back, and I hope he wins. But if he does eventually die in the show, I hope he’s found in the bathtub with there being some ambiguity about whether he really killed himself or whether one of his victims turned the tables on him, and I hope the climax of this song swells as the camera pans over his dead body. That’s the only Wilford death I will accept, thanks for coming to my TED talk.
19. “Source Decay” by The Mountain Goats
I park in an alley And I read through the postcards you continue to send Where as indirectly as you can, you ask what I remember I like these torture devices from my old best friend Well, I'll tell you what I know, like I swore I always would I don't think it's gonna do you any good I remember the train headed south out of Bangkok Down toward the water
Okay, I promise this is the last Mountain Goats song on the playlist. It’s just—it’s perfect. It has a train in it. And on the podcast “I Only Listen To The Mountain Goats,” John Darnielle commented that there’s barely anywhere you can go south of Bangkok before you hit the water, it’s a train going nowhere, it’s so good. It’s also one of the songs I’ve previously ripped a line off for my fanfiction titles!
20. “Sellers of Flowers” by Regina Spektor
The sellers of flowers Buy up old roses They pull off dead petals Like old heads of lettuce And sell ’em as new ones For cheaper and fairer But they die by the morning So who is the winner? Not the roses Not the buyers Not the sellers Maybe winter
And Regina Spektor closes out the playlist again! This song is another one I picked more on imagery and vibes than anything else. But since it’s about a young child in a world that seems to be moving inexorably toward an all-consuming winter, if it suits any of the characters, maybe it’s an appearance of Alex here at the end!
Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy the playlist!

1-4 for the wrapped favorite lyrics!
Aaa thank you! // favourite spotify wrapped lyrics meme
1 was "Woman Like Me" by Little Mix feat. Nicki Minaj, which got up here because it became one of the Thesis Statement Songs for a new OC (as one does) and these particular lyrics captivated me for Desiree:
I've made a few mistakes, I regret it nightly I broke a couple hearts that I wear on my sleeve
2 was "Montero" by Lil Nas X and Fuck Me is this song ever good lmao, I'm not at all surprised it's up here. The link is to the a cappella version, which Isn't the one that's at my number 2 on my Spotify but if YouTube did a wrapped you'd see this in probably the same place it is here
Ain't been out in a while anyway Was hopin I could catch you throwin smiles at my face
Romantic talkin? You don't even have to try You're cute enough to fuck with me tonight
3 was "Tall Tales Taste Like Sour Grapes" by Fair to Midland, which I fully expected to take the top spot because I have been streaming it on loop for Hours since August when I realized it fits Judoc Lamburn so well. Whatever it was originally about, it's now about an uncharismatic and haughty bitch who has to deal with her beloved family name and reputation crumbling around her and knowing she was the one to bring it down while trying to keep it above water
Dragging names through the mud Instead of biting his tongue The devil's in the air, and I'm spitting out prayers While the rubbernecks all get their fill
4 was "Bang!" by AJR, which I'm genuinely surprised to see up this high? Not that I'm mad, I'm just surprised. I must have played it more often while doing chores than I thought lmao
Hoo dee la dee do, thank you all for coming I hope you like the show, 'cause it's on a budget
I'm gonna cheat a bit and also list number 5 here, bc that was "All The Rowboats" by Regina Spektor, and in a similar way to Tall Tales this has become a story of its own to me (though I think the best way to appreciate a Regina Spektor song is to create your own meanings for her abundance of metaphors anyway). It's near the top of Idina's playlist, the same as Plant Life, and this is instead about her coming to the Circle for the first time and immediately feeling trapped - the paintings are a metaphor for the mages, you see, and the Circle itself is a mausoleum
First there's lights out, then there's lock up Masterpieces serving maximum sentences It's their own fault for being timeless

a sanders sides analysis of “far“
far, if you’re not aware (which honestly you probably werent) is an album by regina spektor (the same one as ‘one more time with feeling’ from logan’s playlist) and regina spektor has songs that work weirdly well with sanders sides so i’m going to give each song on the album a side. i might do this again with ‘what we saw from the cheap seats’ but its not as weirdly perfect as far.
this ended up being really long, so it’s under the cut.
the calculation: logan, no question. it’s basically about trying to 'calculate’ love from what they saw around them, mostly in media, because don’t understand it. they’re desperate to make it work, so they try again and again “beating their hearts against each other” and eventually, it sparks. intrulogical if you’d like someone to pair it with, since roman has all the romance with thomas.
eet: this one was more difficult, but i think its a lot of patton. after all, the summary on genius literally says “’Eet’ is a wistful, introspective song brimming with nostalgia. The overarching themes seem to be about a person’s development of morality through their experience in their childhood.” it connects a lot to ‘moving on’ in that respect, where thomas wishes he could go back to the times he remembered in patton’s room. if you don’t already know, eet is the backspace key on a typewriter, but since it actually prints letters, you can’t really go back. i also think the line “using your headphones to drown out your mind” is perfect for virgil. i think in “someone’s deciding whether or not to steal/he opens a window just to feel the chill/he hears that outside a small boy just started to cry/’cause it’s his turn, but his brother won’t let him try” janus could be the thief, trying to decide what thomas should take for himself, and obviously remus would be the brother that’s crying because he doesn’t get his turn to be listened to.
blue lips: janus or logan. part of it is kind of like an analysis of society, but it’s mostly about death and aging, which i think both of them will have thought about. the line “the pictures in his mind awoke/and began to breed” definitely reminds me of remus, intrusive thoughts and stuff. its preceded in one verse by “and no one saw and no one heard/they just followed lead” which i think could be about how thomas won’t let himself talk about remus’s thoughts, or janus’s lies, or even logan being tired of how thomas just tries to do everything everyone else does.
folding chair: roman, i think. part of it, patton, maybe. it’s hard to articulate exactly what i mean, but i think a lot of it has to do with being tired and lonely. i think maybe what i’m thinking with roman is that he’s been living so long one kind of way, but it’s not a happy kind of way. like he wants to do something (maybe flashbacks to ‘broadway here i come’ mayybe) or become a dark side, but he’s scared. “now i’ve been sitting on this abandoned beach for years/waiting for the salty water to cover up my ears/but every time the tide comes in to take me home/i get scared, and i’m sitting here alone.” i’m still not completely sure why this came off as roman to me, but maybe someone else would see it better. i don’t think it fits nearly as well as the other songs, but hey, i said i’d do all of them.
machine: janus or logan. kind of surprised it’s not a definite ‘logan,’ with its name, but it’s a lot about society and there’s a transition from “pre-war apartment” to “post-war apartment” which doesn’t fit logan very well at all. and rather than being ‘i am a machine,’ it’s “i’m hooked into machine.” i think that implies that the machine is society (forgive me if that doesn’t make much sense, genius doesn’t have much on this one) because we’re so intertwined, so connected to each other and functioning as a society, possibly how the government wants us to. some of the lyrics make me think it’s about some alternate universe, like “I collect my moments/into a correspondence/with a mightier power/who just lacks my perspective/and who lacks my organics/and who covets my defects,” which is the only reason i didn’t take logan out of the characters completely.
laughing with: janus, if he’s singing it sarcastically. i think he would be making fun of the people who ‘laugh at god.’ also the line “no one laughs at god on the day they realize/that the last sight they'll ever see is a pair of hateful eyes” which i think would’ve resonated very well with janus before svsr. not gonna say much else bc i can barely listen to the song as it is, much less analyze it.
human of the year: maybe also janus, but then again maybe moreso roman or patton. i say janus mostly because it has a very creepy vibe to go with the fictional award of “human of the year.” but roman or patton fits more with the receiver of the award. at least roman would probably give up anything to be deemed that great person, that hero.
two birds: anxceit babyyy. or roceit. it’s really weird because i can’t really tell whether virgil is leaving the wire or janus. the obvious option would be virgil, leaving for the light sides, but the subtler option is the callback. then again, i’m not sure if the one on the wire would change to roman or the general light sides if it was the callback. i also don’t think that virgil wanted janus to come with him, which doesn’t make sense for how the one bird would ask and the other would lie (hehe deceit) and say he was going to come. then again, that could just be a different interpretation of how virgil left the dark sides. in my opinion, though, roceit is much more fun. “i’ll believe it all:” roman. “i won’t let go of your hand:” janus. roman is lying to janus, he’s saying he wants to go to the wedding. janus is trying to just get him to go to the callback. roman’s tempted by it, tempted by how janus is treating him. the line “one more or one less, nobody’s worried” could maybe be janus trying to convince them that it doesn’t matter if they go to the wedding, that lee and mary lee won’t really care. anxceit’s also fun, though.
dance anthem of the 80′s: doesn’t really have a side that it fits in canon, but i think it’d be interesting to put it with patton in an AU. the character is peppy and innocent at first, but it descends into a more depressing tone. i also think the heteronormativity does it a favor in its context. again, it has nothing to do with canon, just thought it’d be cool in an AU.
genius next door: logan, or remus. this song hurts me every time i hear it, since i’ve started associating it with logan. it’s pretty much about this kid, the genius, who’s presumably depressed and goes into the lake each night, holding his breath until he comes back up. this ends up being a bad idea, because at one point he holds his breath too long, and dies in the lake. mostly as i’ve thought about it, i’ve considered logan, but honestly it kind of fits remus better, like how he “didn't care as long as he was able/to strip his clothes off by the dumpsters/at night while everyone was sleeping/and wade midway into that porridge/just him and his secret he was keeping” (the porridge is the lake.) in addition to that, they describe his death as “and the genius next door was sleeping/dreaming that the antidote was orgasm.” sorry for y’all having to catch me referencing other songs, but in the mountain goat’s “amy aka spent gladiator 1″ he says “do every stupid thing that makes you feel alive/do every stupid thing to try to drive the dark away” (which i think is also a very remus song) so he’s describing how it feels good to risk your life. the adrenaline will make you “feel alive,” which is probably why the kid in the song did it (which i saw in the comments someone compared to being the ‘orgasm.’) and while this is not a good idea, considering what happened to the genius next door, i do think it’s a very remus thing to do if he was depressed.
wallet: patton. it’s a very cute song, and it’s pretty much just about how the singer found a wallet, looked at it a little, then returned it to the owner. the singer says “i have no wallet/i keep my cards together with a blue rubber band” and i think that would be something patton does. “you'll never know me/i'll never know you/but you'll be so happy/when they call you up” is probably how patton would feel returning it. finally, something not depressing.
one more time with feeling: i don’t need to choose a side for this one, it’s already logan. i do want to share my thoughts on it, though, ‘cause it seems i disagree with a couple people (plus i didn’t analyze his playlist so i haven’t said anything about it before.) “everyone takes turns/now it's yours to play the part.” he’s supposed to help thomas, as he did in dwit and tried to in svsr. “and the misery inside their eyes is synchronized and reflecting it to yours.” they didn’t listen, though, in svsr and it took half an hour in dwit. for the chorus, “hold on/one more time with feeling/try it again, breathing's just a rhythm/say it in your mind until you know that the words are right/this is why we fight,” i think maybe he’s trying to be interesting to them. to just get through it, and practice and practice until he has the words that they’ll like. that’s just my little hc, though. “you thought by now you'd be/so much better than you are/you thought by now they'd see/that you had come so far.” these lines hit the hardest for me. remember how logan was in the beginning? especially in moving on, he seemed to have no compassion for thomas’s feelings. but hasn’t he gotten better? i think he’s trying to be better to them, to be kinder about emotional problems. and he has come far, but not as far as he would’ve liked, especially considering that he hasn’t seen them appreciate it. he was hoping that they’d notice, that they’d be glad he was doing better. that they’d be proud of him. but they aren’t. they just disregard him even more, unable to forget about who he was, unable to consider how far he’d come (maybe projecting a little.) i also think that the “this is why we fight” could be him talking about how because they don’t listen, he’s exhausted from getting angry at them each episode, and they get annoyed but their ignorance is why they fight.
as a whole, i think he’s just trying again, and again, and again, and i thought, maybe he’s trying with feeling. like, he’s trying to feel for them, trying to care. maybe it has to do with what he did in svsr, where he hinted at his feelings, how he felt like they didn’t care. and they didn’t say a thing. they only could’ve reinforced the idea that even though they’ve tried to tell him that he feels, they don’t care. i went on a whole rant about patton, roman, and thomas in svsr and i could again, but that’s not related to the song.
man of a thousand faces: roman, loosely. at first i was like “man of a thousand faces?!?! janus?!?” but it actually barely fits him at all. it might actually be about drugs, but we’ll ignore that. “his words are quiet like stains are/on a tablecloth washed in a river/stains that are trying to cover for each other/or at least blend in with the pattern” could represent his mistakes, his ideas, maybe stuff that didn’t turn out. and maybe the better ideas will cover up his mistakes. “good is better than perfect.” it could be that his perfectionism is driving him insane, and he needs to start reminding himself that it’s better if he starts reaching for at least just good. “and i’m crying for things that/i tell others to do without crying” is such a roman line i...
anyway that’s the album. if you read through this i’m... impressed.

The 100 Ask Game
I was tagged by the wonderful @thehundredtimesobsessed forever ago (or what feels like it, but I’m finally getting around to it today.
1. What Station on the Ark would you be from?
Probably Agro. My mom’s side of the family definitely has a green thumb.
2. What would you get arrested for on the Ark?
Umm...theft?
3. Would you take off your wristband when you landed on the ground?
No. No, I would not.
4. What would the Necklace Finn would make for you look like? (Clarke: deer/Raven: a raven duh…)
DRAGON!  Dragons are my favorite.  Followed by red pandas, but I feel like a dragon would be better (I already own a few dragon necklaces).
5. If you could resurrect any MINOR character who would it be?
Roan kom Azgeda - I miss him. <<< Same.  Possibly Wells, but I became much more attached to Roan (probably because he had more episodes)
6. Create a squad by of 5 characters to go on missions with. Who are they?
Bellamy, Clarke, Raven, Monty, and Murphy.  (This was basically pick your five favorite characters for me...)
7. What Grounder Clan would you belong to?
Podakru - the Lake People...I’m just going on that based on where I live, i.e. a place where there are lakes
8.  What would your name be in Trigedasleng? (example: Octavia=Okteivia…just make it up!)
Shilbi, I think that’s what they’d do with it.  I literally looked up to see if they even had a “sh” sound in their language; right when I was about to lose hope and resigning myself to “Silbi” or the like, I found a phrase with “sh”.
9. Thoughts on Finn? Some people hate him, and others love him, so I’m curious
I didn’t like him from the beginning. I didn’t hate him initially, but he got two people killed yet survived his own idiocy or taking off his seat belt. I thought he was going to be a detriment to their survival because he would take stupid unnecessary risks to show off.
10. Be honest. How willing would you have been to take the chip without knowing all the horrible things it does?
Probably not.  My dad yells and me and my mom because we always need answers to motivations and the why of things.  I don’t think I would put something in my body without fully knowing what it is and the ramifications of taking it.
11. What character do you relate to most?
I want to say Harper, but also some Clarke.  In Harper, I see a lot of the traits I like about myself; in Clarke, I see a lot of the traits I don’t like about myself.
12. What character do you like the least?
This is difficult...I feel like it’s a cop out to say one of the villains of the show, but it’d probably be Cage Wallace.  I don’t know who it’d be out of the people who are still alive.
13. Describe your delinquent outfit. (Would you wear something like Murphy’s jacket with the spikey red shoulder patch or have a trademark like Jasper’s goggles? Be creative, yet practical)
Charcoal grey jeans with a forest green v-neck t-shirt that has those criss-crossed strips of fabric, a dark brown leather jacket, and brown combat boots.
14. Favorite type of mutant animal?
...I don’t know...a mutant fox?
15. What would your job be on the Ark?
Probably like historian, archives, or teacher or something (based on my real life career path).
16. Would you have willingly pumped Ontari’s heart if Abby asked?
Yeah, I’d do what I have to.  Probably would be admiring the ceiling as I did it, but I’d do it.
17. If Lexa wasn’t Heda, but she was still alive then who would have made the best commander?
I don’t know.  I feel like it there was a more ruthless, battle ready heda, the 100 (and the rest of the Ark) would have been in a worse position.
Wait! An answer came to me when I was looking at question twenty:  Lincoln!  My friend and I liked to joke that Lincoln was one of the few characters with a head on his shoulders and realistic ideas and expectations for relations.
18. How would you act if you ate the hallucinogenic nuts like Jasper and Monty?
I’d probably just be giggling, at EVERYTHING.
19. How would you have dealt with Charlotte’s crime? A more John Murphy approach or Bellamy Blake approach?
Definitely a more Bellamy Blake approach.
20. Who should have been the Chancellor, if anyone?
Monty.  Monty is another character who had a good head on his shoulders.
21. Would you have been on Pike’s side like Bellamy or on Kane’s side? Or Clarke in Polis?
Kane’s side. No question.
22. Mount Weather had a lot of modern commodities. (example: Maya’s Ipod) What is the one thing you would snatch while there?
Maybe a kindle if they had that.  They probably would have different books than the Ark had, or the grounders.  Give me all the books.
23. What would your Grounder tattoos look like? Hairstyle? War paint?
Probably a couple tribal tattoos on my arms, maybe connecting with something spanning my shoulders and upper back.  Definitely ALL the braids; I already wear braids in my hair a lot, but I think they would just get more intricate for the grounder style. Some nice, swirling black warpaint around my eyes when I have to go to battle.
24. Favorite quote?
For someone who regularly collects quotes (though usually from books), I don’t actually have one.  But a quick internet search and choosing quickly, I’ll say a favorite is, “I say, screw fear. I’m telling my own damn story.” (Bellamy Blake, 1.13). It reminds me a little of my one of my favorite song lyrics, “I’m the hero of the story; don’t need to be saved,” from “Hero” by Regina Spektor, which is actually a pretty decent song for the show.
25. If all of the characters were in the Hunger Games, who would have the best shot at winning?
I’m gonna go with Clarke.  She’s smart and tactical and she does what she has to do. But if it came down to a straight up fight, probably Luna; she’d have the knowledge to survive the land and the talent to survive the fight.
26. Least favorite ship? Favorite canon ship? Favorite non canon ship? NOT INCLUDING CL OR BC OR BE
Miller/Jackson - It just came out of nowhere, with no build up, and I like to see how things unfold, especially relationships, and so I’m being stubborn about them trying to tell me it’s a thing. Zaven - All I wanted was for Raven to finally find someone who could make her happy and show her what she could should have. So, yeah, I’m in denial and not the happiest person right now. (I haven’t even watched the new season yet--I know, I know, I’m a horrible fan, but I was sick and then busy catching up on life--and this is something that got spoiled for me even though I’ve been trying to avoid tumblr for a week; I blame Critical Role for encouraging me to go on Tumblr last Thursday) Minty - I found the ship in fanfiction and jumped on board quickly and happily.
27. A song that should be included in the next season? If there had to be another guest star like Shawn Mendes on the show, who would you want to make a cameo?
I’m going with the song that I actually used as a title to one of my fanfics, “Heathens” by Twenty One Pilots. (I also just am bad at knowing songs, so this I’ll stick with what I already know fits with the story)
Celebrities, another of my knowledge downfalls--seriously, if you ever want a guaranteed win in a trivia game against me, go with Pop Culture as the topic.
28. What would you do if you were stuck in the bunker with Murphy for all that time?
Play card games? Drink? There wasn’t a whole lot to do.
29. Your an extra that gets killed off. How do you die?
You wouldn’t actually see me die, I’d just be one of the bodies bloody and lying on the ground.
30. A character you’d like to learn more about and get flashbacks of?
I think it’s actually Echo and/or Emori, both would be best; I’m curious about everyday life on the ground before the timeline of the show.
31. A character you’d bang?
Can I say all of them? If I have to select someone I‘d choose Bellamy, Clarke, Raven, or Roan. Basically the same answer as Toni.  Ooo, I’m adding Lincoln to the list, too.
32. Would you stay in the Bunker? Go up to Space? Or live on your own in Eden?
Assuming I could survive it (nightblood), Eden. I need my green and I don’t mind being alone, though I’d probably still talk to the radio or the animals or plants.
33. In the Bunker, would you follow Octavia? What would you do to pass the time underground?
Yup. I’m a follower.  Read, draw, think up stories.
34. What crime would you commit in the Bunker that lands you in the fighting pits?
These questions keep asking me questions with the assumption that I am not Lawful Good down to my core.  I have no idea what law/rule I would willfully break and what the circumstances would have to be for me to do it.
35. Up in Space, who would you bond with first? Who would be the most difficult for you to get along with?
Harper, no doubt about it. Probably more so Murphy wouldn’t get along with me.  He’d catch me making a face at something he said, and I didn’t honestly mean anything by it, my face just reacts, and he’d hold a grudge against me for a while.
36. How long do you think you would last on Earth by yourself?
If I had survival skills (know what to eat, how to find it, etc.) probably a long time. If I tried it at this exact moment, not very long at all.
37. When the Eligius ship lands what do you do?
Run, hide, observe, freak out. I don’t know.
38. Favorite Eligius character? Least favorite?
Shaw.  (Why must all the good ones go?) Vinson, he was creepy AF.
39. Would you Spacewalk?
Assuming I could do it when it wasn’t illegal, yeah!
40. Would you prefer to eat Windshield Bugs, Space Algae, or Bunker Meat?
Windshield bugs. I was about to say Space Algae, but then I thought about the texture it’d be, and I’m pretty sure it’d be the texture that makes me gag when I try to eat it.
41. Would you start a war for the last spot of green on earth? What would your solution be to avoid it?
Yeah no, I don’t want to go to war.  I would try to work out a way to share it.
42. Would you rather dig out flesh-eating worms or stick thumb drives into bullet holes?
I think I’d stick a thumb drive into a bullet hole.  The first is turning my stomach to think about, but somehow the second isn’t doing the same.
43. Are you willing to poison your sister for the Traitor Who You Love? What would you do to stop Octavia?
Gut reaction against it, but that’s because I love my sister and she’s the sweetest.  But if she did what Octavia did and had that personality, probably, as long as I knew she wouldn’t be killed by it. What they did seemed to work...?
44. Would you go to sleep in cryo or stay awake like Marper?
Sleep in cryo.
45. Who are you waking up first to explore the new planet?
Clarke and Bellamy, Raven and Shaw, Murphy and Miller. <<Same, probably Emori too, she’s resourceful.
I’m not gonna tag anyone because chances are they already did this while I’ve been avoiding Tumblr and so I missed their answers. But if anyone hasn’t done this and wants to, please tag me in your post!  I want to see what other people have to say!

21 questions!
Thanks for tagging me @tiredwritersworld! this was fun!!
Nickname - on here, apples. in real life friends often call me by my initials
Zodiac - Gemini, blah! yuck. I don’t like my sig
Height - 5'7 ish
Last Movie I watched - Dumplin on Netflix. It was sweet and funny and hit me right smack dab in my fat girl feelings.
Last thing I googled - song lyrics “come along catch a Heffalump” it’s a song on a commercial for some phone, and every time I hear it I catch myself singing it for hours, much to the dismay of my spouse and pets.
Favourite musician - Ahh!!! I don’t think I could choose! I love Aimee Mann, Regina Spektor, Tori Amos, Beirut, TV on the Radio, the Hamilton soundtrack, and U2. It’s always changing.
Song stuck in my head - Well nothing WAS... but now it’s that damn Heffalump song from the commercial. “come come come come come along now” I blame YOU, quiz. It’s really catchy. Here, now it’s in your head, too:
youtube
Other blogs - nah
Do I get asks - no but I wouldn’t mind them as long as the people weren’t like rude or trying to sell me Amway or something.
Following - like 300 people, I think? although a lot of them have left of become less active lately.
Amount of sleep - Not fucking enough
Lucky number - 5
What I’m wearing - Ratty pajamas: sweatpants with paint dripped on them and a red t-shirt that says Y’ALL. Don’t hate me because I’m such an impeccable fashion plate...
Dream job - Freelance artist. Working for myself, making a living with my creative work. This is it, the goal, and i’m actually taking steps this year.
Dream trip - I’d love to go to India. Also, New York City. I’ve been to New York once but I really want to spend more time there and do it right.
Favourite food - hummus. :)
Play any instruments - ha! no. Musical ability is one of those things for me that totally transforms my opinions of people. And by “transforms my opinion of” I mean of course “causes me  to go from ‘nice to meet you’ to ‘WHOOPS where did my panties go?’”
at least im honest.
Languages - Was once fluent in French (studied abroad in college) and I speak some Russian. Trying to learn Spanish.
Favourite songs - Listen up, quiz, are you trying to kill me? Did you see how I barely made it out of that “favorite singer” question? Okay here’s a few:
U2 “The Unforgettable Fire”
Amanda Palmer “Astronaut”
Majical Cloudz “Downtown”
Aimee Mann “Goose Snow Cone”
Kate Bush “Running Up That Hill”
Spoon “The Underdog”
TV on the Radio “Will Do”
Beirut “Santa Fe”
Po’ Girl “Til It’s Gone”
Random fact - I used to be a pretty dedicated runner and once ran a full marathon. While training for my second, I experienced hip pain that would take three years to diagnose, and result in a total hip replacement in my early 30s. Now the only thing I run is late. ;)
Describe yourself as aesthetic things - A crumpled but re-usable wad of sparkly wrapping paper; a novelty clock from a 1980s show no one remembers but the motor still works; an unintentionally corny sympathy card.
OH SHIT I forgot to tag anyone. okay: @ban23  @morphinetune @dammit-karen @wolfangelwings @quietspontaneity

Fiona Apple - Fetch The Bolt Cutters
Fifth studio album of baroque pop from the New York-born Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter
10/13
Tumblr media
Fiona Apple has never been the most prolific of artists, but an eight year gap since her last album The Idler Wheel… marks her longest period between releases. Apple remains enough of a big name though to make the release of each record seem like an event – when the release of Fetch The Bolt Cutters was brought forward from its original October release date, it did indeed feel as if the internet was about to be broken.
Although Apple is most closely associated with the sort of dark piano pop popularised by the likes of Tori Amos, or Regina Spektor, the first thing that a newcomer would observe about Fetch The Bolt Cutters would be how strange, eerie and just downright weird most of it is. From the cover photo of a partially obscured Apple’s face to the fast flowing, stream of consciousness style of the delivery of her lyrics, there’s an unsettling edge to much of Apple’s fifth album.
Then there are the arrangements, which almost dare you to sit up and listen. Although Apple’s trademark piano is to the fore as ever, there’s more emphasis on percussion than ever before (including some beats apparently played on the box containing her dead dog’s bones), and at the end of the title track, a pack of dogs howl in unison. It’s an album which, on every listen, you pick up another little odd noise you didn’t catch previously.
Throughout, Apple’s vocals are as extraordinary as ever – there’s an intensity to her performance that becomes gripping to listen to. On the opening I want You To Love Me she descends into yelps, purrs and scats her way to the song’s end. On the title track, she combines with Cara Delevingne’s backing vocals, while on the outstanding Cosmonauts, she goes from a blood-curdling scream one minute to an almost whisper the next.
Lyrically too, Apple is on top form on every track. The topics covered on Fetch The Bolt Cutters are not light by any means: the extraordinary For Her begins with a choir of multi-tracked voices chanting, before Apple starts singing “Good morning…” as if she’s about to launch into the old Singing In The Rain standard. Instead, the next line is “You raped me in the same bed your daughter was born” and it’s guaranteed to stop you in your tracks. It’s not even three minutes long, but it’s a song you’re unlikely to forget.
As well as trauma, the theme of female friendships and solidarity with other women is a large one: Shameika (one of the most immediate songs on the record) talks of a young schoolfriend told a bullied Apple that she “had potential”. So many lines sum up a bullied childhood so well, including “I didn’t smile, because a smile always seemed rehearsed, I wasn’t afraid of the bullies, and that just made the bullies worse”.
Ladies is a plea to not let men pit women against each other: “Nobody can replace anybody else, so it would be a shame to make it a competition.” But some of Apple’s most memorable lyrical couplets come in her refusal to stop being opinionated in the brilliant Under The Table: “I would beg to disagree, but disagrees with me,” and “Kick me under the table all you want, I won’t shut up”.
Fetch The Bolt Cutters isn’t the easiest album to listen to – and in these claustrophobic lockdown times, some may baulk at spending 51 minutes with an album of this intensity. Yet while it’s certainly not an album for background listening, those who are willing to invest some time in it will be rewarded by one of the most remarkable records released this year.
