was The Most Beautiful Woman In Town written by you alone? i saw a screenshot of some tumblr accounts assembling that story by parts and it felt really uncanny.

... not that it would reduce your work in any way to have illustrated a story without writing it, but i had assumed that was an FFS Whole Cloth Original (TM)

So, I put links for inspiration at the bottom of all my comics. They’re usually completely skipped over but if I used a post or prompt I always cite it.

Here’s where I came up with The Most Beautiful Woman:

It was labeled as a prompt. I did a really old version of the comic several years ago, before I started art school, and had it on a reblog from the OG prompt.

Then I got into a comics class and needed a quick premise for an assignment so I decided to take that prompt, and the old comic I’d made and revamp them into a condensed form.

It. Blew up. And the thing is, I’m not the first artist to make a comic based on the prompt, I’ve seen at least two others, but mine is like. Massive. I don’t think my work will see that big of an audience ever again, like, what happened.

So I didn’t collaborate with anyone writing my comic, I just had that prompt, but I also don’t think I was being like, so amazingly original. I wouldn’t be surprised if others had similar ideas.

It’s also the number 1 thing of my that gets stolen, ripped off, and passed around without credit so they might be referencing the comic. It’s impossible to know. Ultimately it’s just gratifying my work resonated with such a large audience.

2024 kdrama post

We are already in December and nothing new I am likely to be interested in is gonna drop before the end of the year - and if it does it will run into 2025 so I can address it in my 2025 kdrama post, unless we are all ruled by lizard aliens by then.

Normally I list all the dramas made this year that I watch, thoughts on them, blah blah but this year I disliked most of the kdramas I tried (it was the worst kdrama year for me since 2006 when I first started!) and I don't want to make a giant negative post, so I am going to only mostly talk about the kdramas I enjoyed in some capacity.

From least to most:

Love Your Enemy - I don't really like it tbh, but it's here for nostalgia over JJH.

Tell Me You Love Me - good and quiet but suffers in comparison to the original and that FL actress is just not my cup of tea.

Connection - Ji Sung gives a powerhouse performance in a very solid crime drama; it's not higher because it's just not my genre.

The Midnight Shop - it was nice seeing Joo Won in not a disaster of a drama. It wasn't as engrossing as it could have been but I did like both the mains and rooted for them.

Knight Flower - was I emotionally involved? Nah. Was I entertained? Yeah.

The Judge From Hell - "was I emotionally involved? Nah. Was I entertained? Yeah." Redux.

Queen of Tears - honestly, it should probably be in the below category but I enjoyed myself for the first half so much, I am willing to pretend the nonsense disaster plots and character interactions of second half were not as bad as they were.

My Demon - sucker for supernatural romance fantasy done right (to me it was, I know some people didn't like it.)

Goryeo Khitan War - I put it on my 2023 list too so it's double dipping but whatever. This is just a grand old school sageuk and I adored every moment.

Lovely Runner - normally youth dramas bore me but this one was so sweet, so lovely, so pitch perfect.

Black Out - did not really feel like a kdrama at all, more like a prestige BBC production, but I loved it anyway, as bleak and harrowing as it was.

When the Phone Rings - my current obsession, old school melo the way they haven't made in years.

The sad thing is, a number of these dramas started airing in 2023 and/or beginning of the year. Most of this year has been the Sahara.

Dramas which I enjoyed off the start and then fell off the cliff into what the hell land: Captivating the King (wonderful first 4-5 episodes, OK few following, stupid as hell the rest - solid acting brought down by a ridiculous script), The Story of Park's Marriage Contract (great first two eps and then downhill rapidly with each following episode), Love Song For Illusion (first ep not bad, second ep tolerable, after that with each ep, my ff fingers got twitchier and twitchier.)

OTP of the year: Duh, Baek Sa Eon x Hong Hui Joo, When the Phone Rings, have you seen this tumblr lately?

Trend I wish would die: 8 ep kdramas, 12 ep kdramas. Bring back freaking 16 ep as a minimum standard. Also pls get Disney and Netlfix out of kdrama world while we are on impossible wishes.

Genre I need less of: romcoms; Genre I need more of: proper sageuk.

Worst waste of my eyeballs: The Impossible Heir.

Most boobs per minute: Queen Woo.

Best non-2024 kdrama I watched this year: Beyond Evil. A total masterpiece.

Hello everyone...mutuals and followers.

I just want to take a moment and say 'thank you'. I was doing a lot of reflecting this morning on gratitude. I woke up to 50 notes and that was only after a couple of hours of sleep. I was thinking how, you know, in a way that it may be low compared to other times and other people...but that is still 50 times my work was liked, reblogged, or commented on. January, I think, is a rather slow month for everyone. Holiday fatigue, winter blues, sickness left and right, and the overall path of life...everyone is busy, sick, tired, and maybe a little sad as the sun doesn't say 'hi' enough. Lately, I have been a bit complainy. Now, I'm not usually one to let an anon message get to me, but yesterday it kind of did, but also because I think in a way they were kind of right.

When I first started writing for Peaky Blinders, I wasn't even on Tumblr. I was strictly Ao3, and it was just Amelia(my OC) and I. I was just happy to find something that made me passionate about writing again. I didn't care about kudos, comments, or anything of the like. And then I joined Tumblr again after 7ish years. I was just doing my thing and about a month in, His Innocence and TBIOC got rather popular. Then along came Evie.... Now, I don't think I am "popular" by a large scale, but I was getting a lot of interaction for awhile and as I got more, more, and more, I feel I started to lose the actual reason of why I was writing.

This is not to say that I don't appreciate reblogs, comments, and likes... I do, and please for the love of the community, continue interacting. Not because I want attention, but because I genuinely like to talk and meet new writers and readers. That being said, I want to start focusing on gratitude for what I do get.

Especially in this painfully slow month.... Just know that I appreciate all of you. Every single one of you. When I first started writing FF again, I never expected the traction that I get. For that, I am so thankful and I truly love you guys, a lot.

I feel bad about my post regarding Tommy fics compared to other characters. I love writing for Tommy. Truly. He's a fun character to play with and I will continue. I was not at all meaning to be mean or disregard my followers that love him. Sorry for being kind of annoying lately. I am sorry for that. When I created this space, I meant it to be a space of fun and creativity. I'd like to go back to that. I know I can be annoying, a lot, and tiring sometimes. What is the main lesson of your story?

I think there could be a few takeaways from Forest Fire but it's mainly about learning to let go of a romanticized image of the past and learning to face the things you've been running away from (a lesson for each main character, respectively).

What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding?

The idea started when I was looking out at the scenery during a spontaneous road trip to California but none of the worldbuilding I did then actually ended up in the version of FF im working on now, lol. For the current version, Studio Ghibli is a big inspiration (especially a scene towards the end of the boy and the heron) as well as the song This Place Is a Shelter by Ólafur Arnalds.

What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? So you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness, or help them grow as a person?

Forest Fire is set in a dual POV, following two estranged brothers forced to grapple with a past they remember very differently, so-

Sylas just wants his older brother back and for his family to be the way he remembers it as a kid. He's desperate to bring his brother back home and keep him there.

Lincoln, on the other hand, doesn't want anything to do with the town he grew up in or the memories he can't escape there. He wants to be a responsible adult and return both Sylas and another young character (Peggy) to their respective homes and then get the hell outta dodge.

Through them, I'm trying to tell a coming-of-age story that teaches both of the characters to stop letting their past overshadow their present/future.

How many chapters is your story going to have?

Genuinely I have no idea, but hopefully at least 20?

Is it fanfiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it?

Original content! No idea what to do with it after I finish but once I start the editing process (or if I particularly like any snippets from the first draft) I'll probably share them here on tumblr :)

When did you start writing?

Literally the end of last year, this is a very fresh project for me.

Do you have any words of encouragement for fellow writers of writeblr?

I think my best advice is to not let the fear of the blank page overshadow your creative drive. Firsts drafts are meant to be of a lower quality than you want (or than you're capable of) because there are just so many elements to juggle at the same time while also learning how to best tell your story, so don't sweat the small stuff and give yourself the space to be curious and interested in what you're writing!

Take a breath. Take a stretch. And just write :)

I’m trying to find my way around tumblr looking for more stories to read, but there are some ‘terms’ I’m unfamiliar with and can’t figure out. I did the google search, but it did not help me just recommended stories (seriously Google… you had one job…😐).

So I hope someone sees this and can help me😅.

(I don’t know if it’s relevant but I look/read K-pop fanfics)

1. What are “hard thoughts”?

I saw this listed on a master list (I’m guessing a master list is like a list and over a writers stories, sorted by genre and members/ships) and as a genre alongside smut, fluff and angst I saw “hard thoughts” I also think I saw “hard hours”? What does this mean???

2. Reposted?

Tumblr calls my own page “my blog” and when I shared a story and it appeared in “my blog’. I can see it has 5200 something ‘notes’ (I’m guessing ‘notes’ are like likes). These are the authors likes right? I saw the OG post had about the same notes.

I know I made a comment about how much I loved the story and maybe people liked that, it just confuses me, if I got that many lines/ notes for something that is someone else’s hard work.

3. Can I make a master list as a reader?

I read a story and at the end I noticed by the tags, that it said “made by xxxx” and that was not the name of one the post I found (i found out they had shared xxxxx post I just didn’t notice). This made me slightly waist of plagiarism, but if it’s a reader sharing and spreading the authors story and gaining it more attention (like how I found it) I would think it’s okay. I would love to share my favourite stories with others and have my favourite authors get more recognition! Is that how it works?

And then could I and other readers make a master list of the stories we share so if a fellow MOA sees my ‘blog’ they would easily see I fav and shared stories???

(Please let me know if there are more to some of these things. Like “morally wrong”. I’ve spent a total of 50 minutes on this app ever 40 min spent a reading stories. So I don’t know anything other than what’s on first glance.)

4. What does MDNI mean?

I saw in a profile bio “MDNI!” And another “DNI” what does this mean?

Those are my questions for now. I’m used to reading in AO3 and before that I read on Wattpad, and I’m beginning to read stories on Twitter or X (im also learning how twitter works rn). So I know the most of the fanfic ‘terms’ like pwp, dead dove and so on.

I’m just struggling with how the new apps work (twitter/X and tumblr) and these new terms on here.

Both! I had been using the handle Foldingfittedsheets for a long time and someone shortened it to FFS and I immediately realized that it was hilarious. All ways of reading it are valid.

Can you actually fold a fitted sheet?

No. I thought it was a funny handle that was easy to say and hard to do. A metaphor for life being messy and complicated. A task that you can only ever try your best at although failure in inevitable.

When I moved in with my beloved I packed the linen closet and told them that I didn't know if we'd have enough room. They spent a day refolding everything beautifully and it took up a third of the closet. So some people are just built different.

Have you seen this guide on how to fold them??? It's easy!

I am content at my current levels of adequacy and would prefer to spend my time on other pursuits. Thank you for thinking of me, but I'm good.

No. I have tried to put out comics under read more cuts and they do not get the same traction. It's also unfair to ask me to change how I present my work. No one will ever have to scroll through them as much as me and I promise it's never more than 30 seconds which does not feel unreasonable.

Tumblr has a setting that will automatically shorten long posts, and I have provided a tag "do you love the color of the comic" so that you can take initiative to reduce the space they take up. You can also block the new individual comic tag after you’ve read it to stop seeing repeats.

Comics take months of my time to produce and I reblog them a lot when they first launch because I'm excited to share something that I worked really hard on.

I won't be offended if you unfollow me, but I will if you ask me to cater to your sensibilities on how long my art should be.

Why are all the ace flag creatures sleepy?

An ace friend loved the ace dragon in the first set and said, “It’s sleepy like my sexuality!” I thought that was very cute and when I did gryphons I made them sleepy too. I’ve since gotten a lot of really cute comments on how much people liked the sleepy ace creechurs.

When I went through and revamped the unicorns I noticed the ace unicorn wasn’t sleepy. I made a poll to ask if I should switch it to be consistent with the dragons and gryphons. It was an overwhelming yes so now all the ace creatures are sleepy.

I want to just quickly comment on this! I'm so happy with all the feedback and positive reactions I'm getting. I've been a long-time Tumblr user and I've always liked to write, but was never brave enough to post anything. Now that I'm older (lol sounds like I'm 50, but I'm actually 23) I just really enjoy sharing what I love to do with other people.

Jamie wasn’t supposed to be here.

At least, that’s what Y/N thought when she turned around in the church pew and saw him standing at the entrance, looking completely lost. She barely had a second to register his presence before someone behind her whispered, "Is that Jamie Tartt?"

Oh no.

Jamie, for his part, was scanning the congregation with his usual cocky confidence, though it was clearly a cover for how out of place he felt. He was decked out in some designer fit—Gucci loafers, a ridiculously well-fitted blazer, and a gold chain that gleamed under the soft church lighting. He looked like he was about to sit front row at a fashion show, not settle in for Sunday service.

She groaned internally as he finally spotted her and made his way over, sliding into the empty seat beside her. The woman to her right, Mrs. Henderson, a longtime member of the congregation, raised an eyebrow. "Y/N, dear, I didn’t know you were seeing anyone."

Y/N felt the immediate need to correct that assumption. "I’m not. He’s—he’s just—Jamie, what are you doing here?"

Jamie leaned in slightly, lowering his voice. "You invited me."

"I did not."

"You said I should come back sometime when it’s not just for confession."

Y/N closed her eyes for a second, suppressing the urge to groan out loud. That was not an invitation. That was just… encouragement. Encouragement that he had wildly misinterpreted.

Before she could clarify, the service began, and she was forced to let it go. Jamie, despite his usual fidgety, easily-distracted self, actually stayed quiet, listening intently to the sermon. She watched out of the corner of her eye as he frowned in thought, nodding slightly as if considering the priest’s words like it was a game tactic he needed to memorize.

By the time the service ended, a few people had already come up to greet them, most of them assuming they’d come together. Jamie, being Jamie, did nothing to dispel the rumors, answering every friendly inquiry with a charming smile and vague responses that did absolutely nothing to clarify the situation.

Y/N had to step in. "He’s not my boyfriend. He just showed up. On his own. Without telling me. Total surprise."

Jamie smirked. "Sounds like somethin’ a boyfriend would do, doesn’t it?"

She glared at him, but Mrs. Henderson simply patted his arm, looking delighted. "Well, it’s lovely to see young people taking an interest in faith."

Jamie beamed at her. "Yeah, I’m tryna be a better person and all that."

Once they were finally outside, Y/N turned to him with her arms crossed. "Alright. What was that about?"

Jamie shrugged, hands stuffed into his pockets. "Dunno. Just figured it was a good excuse to see ya."

Her resolve wavered for a second. Jamie, despite all his dramatics and his inability to follow simple social cues, was at least honest. She sighed. "Jamie, you don’t have to come to church just to talk to me. I’ll give you my number and we’ll talk outside of church."

At that Jamie beamed from ear to ear. The beautiful pastor giving him her number and all he had to do was show up? He really was blessed.

"Damn this service was long, but it was worth it. I got to spend some time with you and now I have your number…" he shot back. "And besides, I actually liked the sermon. Priest bloke was talkin’ about second chances and redemption and that. Felt… I dunno. Like maybe it’s somethin’ I should think about. Maybe I’ll visit more often."

Y/N blinked. So he wasn’t just here for her. He was actually listening, he was learning. And, somehow, that made her see him differently—just a little bit. He wasn’t just here to be a flirt or a nuisance. Maybe, just maybe, he was really trying. And it is a lovely feeling that he wants to spend time with her…

She exhaled and shook her head with a small smile. "Alright, fine. Just… maybe next time, dress down a little? You look like you’re about to take communion from the Pope himself."

Jamie grinned. "Nah, if I’m meetin’ the Pope, I’m wearin’ a proper suit."

Y/N rolled her eyes, but she couldn’t fight the smile tugging at her lips. He was ridiculous. But maybe, just maybe, he was serious about this whole self-improvement thing after all.

So yesterday marks the very first time I’ve posted a fic on here

I had written fics before but this was my first ever 18+ fic

Before I started writing for the cod fandom I had stuck to reading cod fics on ao3 specifically price pieces and I rmr one day wanting to read a fic where price teaches reader how to smoke cigars but I just knew there wasn’t an x male reader piece around so I decided to write it myself

I spent a month researching how to write smut trying to get a proper feel of price’s character and translate those very same traits into my own fic

And when I was completely done with it I almost didn’t post it but I did and I believe in one day I got 200 notes which was insane. I didn’t know how active people were on tumblr I really just wanted to create a price piece and do what I love which is writing

The next piece took 3 weeks before I posted it mostly because I was picking and poking at it but then I told myself you know if I’m going to be running a writing blog I have to write more often

So I pushed myself to write more often and back then I had just started to become fixated with price so I had plenty of ideas at hand

Slowly but surely I started to post more and more pieces and my blog started to grow. From April to maybe June month I had gotten two requests and maybe one ask where it was an anon who was just interested in talking to me and I rmr feeling over the moon about it

And then June month I started to grow rapidly like I really was there like whats going on 🧍🏻 i rmr the writers i looked up to became mutuals with me and i genuinely couldnt believe this was happening.

june- september i felt myself become more confident in my writing and i started to write like every 2-3 days and that’s when so many of you guys joined my blog and i rmr just being surprised that so many of you wanted to talk to me and that i went from one anonie to having a little council of yall

then november - February came around and that period is usually the worst for my mental l health but writing and having you guys show so much love not only for my work but also and it genuinely helped me so much

now its been a year of writing fics and im just really appreciative

also its so cool to be able to see how much ive grown how i went from spending a month on writing a fic to being able to produce pieces im actually proud of in the span of 3 days it's also fun to see how much knowledge ive gained by just writing like ill find myself reading pieces and im able to see minimal adjustment i can make that while make the scene flow whiles before id be questioning my grammar in every sentence

so what i want to say with this yapping is thank you guys and if youre someone who wants to get into ff writing pls do so

how do you deal with insecurities regarding your writing? i feel like i vacillate violently between “oh i’m pretty good actually” and “i am the worst writer on the planet”. this is also specifically with creative writing. like, when it comes to academic writing i’m really confident in myself and my abilities, and i feel like that’s because i find it easier to objectively judge my own academic writing? like i can tell when it’s good and when it kind of sucks a little, but i don’t know how to extend the same objectivity to creative stuff, so i guess the default ends up becoming that it’s horrible.

i used to write a lot just for fun but i don’t really do that anymore because i end up getting too invested in whether it’s “good” or not and then it just stops being fun, which sucks, but i also need it to be good for me to have fun with it, which just ends up being a vicious cycle. the last time i wrote just for fun was maybe a year ago? i tried really hard to let go of the “this has to be a masterpiece” mindset, so i wrote some fanfiction because well it doesn’t get more “for fun” and self indulgent than that. i posted a couple on tumblr, and i wasn’t exactly expecting much traction, so i wasn’t disappointed or anything when i didn’t get a lot out of the fandom, but i did get a couple really nasty asks. (i guess that’s on me for posting on tumblr lol.) as far as i could tell, it was just one person who was really, really invested in making me miserable. it was kind of stupid but there was just so much of it. at first it was just racism about how i’m not white so i should stop using english because i don’t know how to, which i don’t care about because i’m perfectly aware that my English is more than fine (not that this ask is indicative of anything, i promise i know how to capitalise and use proper punctuation and better grammar). but they said this one thing that i keep thinking about literally a whole year later: “i’m an english teacher, and i’ve used your writing as a sample of what not to do while writing”.

…yeah. so that was just a teensy bit insane!! like they’d called my writing trash in a variety of ways before that, but that last thing was just ??? what do you even say to that?? it was just for fun, i wasn’t trying to be a modern Dostoevsky or anything, but holy shit, was it actually that bad??? (i ask, as if you would be able to judge having never read my writing.) but anyway, i haven’t been able to stop thinking about that, and every time i start writing something now, i have a bit of a “would this be used as the bad writing sample in an english class?” moment.

I believe I answered a couple of similar asks recently.

The short answer is: that feeling of insecurity doesn't go away, but you do eventually learn to pick your battles. Wondering about the tastes of a hypothetical audience is an ever shifting target and unhelpful, so instead aim to satisfy your own tastes.

But I think you know that already.

As for the person giving you shit - honestly fuck them off into a bin. The glorious thing about the internet is if someone acts like a prick, you can bin them and move on - very easily. I have noticed a tendency within Fanfiction communities to be cutting, graceless, and viciously unkind even though the stakes are (as we all know) very, very low.

I reckon it stems from their own feelings of insecurity - that FF isn't real writing (it is, don't let anyone tell you different), so they feel the need to enforce some backasswards, arbitrary standard to create an air of respectability. Trust me - I've been in workshops and swapped work with some incredible, successful authors and this level of backbiting and cruelty is completely alien to me.

So, again: have fun, write what you love, and if someone gives you shit for it, kick them in the shins without breaking your stride.
