I keep seeing people say Silco was a good father and I’m so confused. We literally saw how he groomed Jinx, isolated her, and helped turn her into the worst version of herself. Just look at the relationships Jinx had with the other characters in season one vs season two. She is SO MUCH BETTER now that he’s not around! Don’t get me wrong, Silco is one of my favorite characters in the show. I loved that evil mf DOWN, so don’t get it twisted! But calling him a good father is insane to me. He’s a lot of things, but a “good father” has never and will never be one of them. This is just my opinion ofc.

And no, I’m not one of those people who thinks he didn’t truly love her and that he only saw her as a weapon. He loved Jinx dearly, and that is a hill I am willing to die on. However, love is not enough to make someone a good father in my book. Especially when that love went hand in hand with enabling Jinx’s worst impulses and not establishing proper boundaries with her. Truth be told, there are two reasons why people still insist on calling Silco a “good father”.

1. They’re attracted to him. I know for a fact if he was genuinely ugly and not in a “sexy evil rat man hehe” kinda way, suddenly everyone would know that grooming children and turning them into weapons is bad. Like be so for real right now, if only for a second.

2. Silco is not the worst fictional father in history, and people confuse “not being the literal worst” with being “good”. It’s like breaking your leg vs dying. Obviously dying is the worst case scenario, so getting off with just a broken leg is marginally better than dying. However, it’s still a major injury. There is a world of difference between “better than” comparatively speaking, and “good”. I think a lot of people are confused about the difference between the two, and think that because Silco was a better father than the absolute worst of the worst, that automatically makes him a “good” father, when that just isn’t the case imo.

Because no way y’all are calling a man who: almost knifed his homegirl’s daughter but stopped himself because he saw himself in her, isolated, manipulated, groomed into becoming a weapon, enabled her, actively encouraged her to her obvious detriment, and projected his traumas onto her a “good father” without a hint of irony. No amount of love he had for her, whoever genuine it was, is gonna make him a “good father”. At least in my book🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

silco is a great character. but if your love of silco causes you to hate on vi I’m gonna need you to reevaluate some things

like vi has every reason to hate silco all of which are valid for her to believe. yea she doesn’t get that silco actually cared for jinx. but like bro she was imprisoned?? and like? he killed her family??? why would she ever see him in any way either than that?? she doesn’t know about his political motivations and those don’t justify him trying to kill her family????

vi’s been in prison for years and obviously would assume that jinx became the way she is cuz of silco. and she isn’t even fully wrong to assume that cuz silco raised jinx for years and yea he did let her get to this point. like yea it’s complicated cuz of his own issues and his messed up ideology kinda make him incapable of being a good parent no matter how hard he tries. but vi ain’t giving him the benefit of the doubt and like why tf would your expect her to?? obviously we know that there was some jinx brewing beneath the surface of powder in act1. but how tf was vi supposed to have predicted this?? silco’s parenting undeniably contributed to who jinx became. so vi isn’t even wrong to believe this. not 100% right but not 100% wrong.

and like jinx is so different from vi’s perspective ofc vi is gonna 100% blame silco on that. and like she has a right to. like vi shows up to try and save her sister and silco tries to kill her and yaps about “freeing” jinx. like what is vi supposed to conclude from that other than silco is Mr. evil and a sister- stealer. like yes girl go blow up his factory.

“silco was there when vi abandoned powder” actually what tf are you talking about. vi was 15. experiencing a trauma no one eve should. she invisibly shouldn’t have hit powder but like I completely understand why she fricking did. understandable emotional reaction for a 15 yo. how are we still giving her shit about this?? plus she TRIES TO GO BACK TO POWDER. BUT IS PUT IN PRISON FOR 7 FUCKING YEARS. she walked off to cool off not abandon her sister.

also the point is that silco misunderstands jinx’s situation. he can only see vi “abandoning” jinx as the same betrayal that happened to him. when they’re completely different. silco’s perspective on vi’s motivations and “betrayal” could not be more inaccurate. it makes sense for him to believe that cuz again of his own trauma. but be fr rn he did not asses the situation correctly which is partly why jinx has such conflicting feelings on vi. yes silco was there for jinx, but not cuz vi abandoned her or bc vi was a terrible sister.

silco and vi both want what they think is best for jinx. what they think is best tho is completely incompatible. both of their perspectives are completely understandable and genuine. that’s why jinx feels this pull between the two of them. that’s what makes the dinner party scene so good. cuz neither of them are entirely in the wrong for believing what they do or for wanting what they do.

if this is abt s2 then just no. never cite s2 again when talking about vi. never. Not in my vi arcane.

And even in s1 jinx asking vi to shoot Caitlyn was unfair and messed up as crap. like ofc vi wasn’t gonna do that she has fricking moral compass. vi is put in an impossible position.

silco was right about how vi is still holding out hope that jinx can go back to being the same innocent powder she remembers AND CAN YOU BLAME HER?! she hasn’t seen her sister in 7 YEARS?! she only remembers powder. the memory of powder was the only thing getting her through those 7 years. yeah silco is correct in this assessment but it doesn’t make vi’s hope invalid or selfish, just wishful and optimistic. again, powder was the only thing keeping her going. cuz vi has been separated from the world and the cruel reality of it for 7 fucking years. silco and VI’s perspective are both valid given their experiences.

ok and that’s great parenting on a paper but is also lwk part of the problem cuz he enables all of jinx’s messed up and self-destructive behaviors. his unconditional love overrides his capacity for good parenting and discipline. it’s part of what makes their father-daughter relationship codependent and toxic. also vi loves and cares for her sister sm. but her sister becoming a murderer is an insane thing to ask of her to accept. like jinx does so many messed up things in s1. we the audience know why jinx is acting the way she is. but vi has every right to be disturbed by her. like could you imagine being kidnapped and separated from your little innocent sister for 7 years and then coming back and the first thing you see her do is shoot at people and giggle?? all out of her own volition?? I would be a bit taken aback too. It would be weird if vi wasn’t. And even after all of that vi doesn’t give up on her. she literally says “I’m not going to abandon you again” (and do not fucking bring up s2 cuz that was NOT vi)

“vi created jinx” “no silco created jinx”

how tf is this still a discussion?? they both did and neither of them did. jinx was made from terrible circumstance. every single one of her life experiences contributes to who she became. her parents being murdered by enforcers. her living under systemic oppression. her childhood insecurity and feeling like she needed to prove herself to the group. vi encouraging her inventions. the incident. vi “abandoning” her. being raised by silco. killing silco. etc. there isn’t one event that “makes” jinx.

anyway. vi’s hatred of silco is valid given her perspective. and silco’s beliefs also make sense given how messed up he is and they are genuine. but I never wanna see a silco fan hating on vi ever again.

- It was a promise to you, to Isha, and most importantly, to herself.

- In general, she enjoyed the company you brought her. You gave her more creative input for her weapons, and gave her a new hobby.

- She suddenly developed a slight addiction to making you new and more colorful masks.

- By the first month you've lived with her she's made you at least 10 more.

- But she's a good mom, even if she can't see it herself very much.

Vi -

- She would honestly probably be one of the few people who sees tiny kid who like can't breathe and is just like, "Oh shit, normal lanes behaviour." And just walk away

- Like she isn't exactly the person to take a kid under her wing, especially cause she has this whole self deprecated mindset of how she isn't good enough for really anything

- But you likely end up following her, considering that it's probably a better choice than suffocating on the cold and dirty ground, and eventually, she just accepts that you're following her

- She brings you surprisingly to Jayce to figure out if one of your face masks can be built, and bro has such a soft spot for kids you get like 10 in one sitting made for you

- She has no specific opinion or worry about your illness, aside from the constant fear of you dying

- Her abandonment issues kick in an oddly large amount when you have coughing fits, and she can't keep herself from worrying if this is gonna be the last time she'll hear them

- But even when she's worrying like that, she tries to focus on just caring for you

- It makes her feel like when she used to take care of Powder

- And it makes her feel like she got a second chance.

Caitlyn (season 1) -

- So when she finds you on the streets during one of your patrols, her bleeding heart causes her to almost immediately leap to action.

- She immediately tells Marcus she's taking a break (whether he wants her to or not) and takes you to the best doctor she can find

- She holds your hand when you get diagnosed

- She may not really know you, but she doesn't really care, she just wants to help people, even if it ends up just being you who she helps

- After that, the doctor gives you your mask and she presumes you'll go on your merry way, doing whatever else it was in Piltover before she basically disrupted your life.

- But even months after she had met you, you both seem to run into each other much more.

- Whether it's you following her while she's on patrols, or just potential coincidence, you both seem to run into each other more and more.

- Eventually this leads to the conversation about where your (lack of) parents are.

- And this is when she decides to take you in.

- Her mother obviously lectures her about taking in stray children, and how hard it is to raise a child, and more

- But after that you basically just became a Kiramman from that day forth.

Mel -

- She never expected to meet you (but then again neither did literally any of the others), but it was especially not gonna be today

- it felt, odd to find a small child alone in Piltover, usually they would be with family, or at least some semblance of a caregiver

- But you were just sitting there, propped up against a wall, coughing your poor little lungs out

- So, regardless of her inhibitions, she takes you to a doctor.

- She feels a twinge of guilt when you receive a diagnosis, like she could've done something to prevent it

- But a part of her feels connected to you

- She knows what it feels like to be cast out from family, to have no one to turn to in your time of need.

- And right now she feels a need to be that rock for you to rest upon

- So you stay with her, after she convinces herself it will only be until she can find you a suitable family.

- She talks to Jayce and Victor about how to handle your illness, the mental and physical support that is required, along with just generally everything

- Before she knows it, she has an adoption certificate for you, and you're officially her child.

- And on that day, she makes a silent promise that she will be better than her mother was

I think we should talk more about the mysgony when it comes to parents in media, and how fathers are favoured and praised for the most the most basic shit while mothers are demonised for making mistakes or being bad. This is gonna be a long one, buckle up.

I hate Mrs Rosehearts as much as the next guy, but it's unfair that Mr Rosehearts is not given similar criticism for allowing his wife to treat Riddle the way he does. I hardly see people bring him up apart from mentioning that Riddle's parents probably have an unhappy marriage, and some people say something along the lines of "poor Mr Rosehearts, struggling with a wife like that".

Of course, we don't know enough about his character to gauge how Mrs Rosehearts treats him, bit it's clear he just passively stands to the side when it comes to whatever Mrs Rosehearts wants to do with Riddle. That itself is very harmful and it's own form of abuse, imo.

The same applies to Alador Blight from the Owl House. He's praised for being a wonderful dad that finally came through and stood up to his "horrible wretched bitch of a wife" (who, if she was a guy, would probably have more people analysing her and trying to find ways to sympathise with her just saying)..

And while, yes, he did stand up to her and that's a good thing, the general consensus is he was a brilliant dad from the start that was held back by his wife's wicked ways. But... that's not true? His first appearance is him telling Amity to stop being friends with Willow. He ignores his children constantly, and, like Mr Rosehearts, stands passively to the side when Odaliah treats her children like her property.

He's a neglectful parent at best and just as concerned with image and status at Odaliah at worst. But... that stuff is just forgotten. Most people just say "we thought he was bad but it turns out he was manipulated by his wife". He is HIS OWN PERSON. You cannot just blame everything on his "evil manipulative wife" (which is also smt that sometimes happens irl when both parents are abusive). He is still fully capable of making his own decisions.

And again, it's unfortunate, but if Odaliah were to be given his treatment or if Alador were a woman, the general response would be "That's sad but not an excuse! I can't believe she was forgiven!"

The worst I can think of atm, is Silco and Vi from Arcane. Now ofc they're not married. But the circumstances are similar.

Silco is praised to the high heavens for being one of the best dads in animation (#1 goes to Doofenshmirtz ofc, which I agree with) and the reasons for this are because he... shows his care, puts Jinx first, and loves her. Wow. Fucking groundbreaking am I right. The bar is soooo high/s

The thing is, Jinx is a child soldier. She works for Silco, protects his shipments of Shimmer, takes out the enemies that need taken out, etc. He found her as a young child, and when we cut to the present, she's murdering people without so much as flinching, even delighting in it, and suffering badly from trauma and hallucinations.

Obviously, Jinx was not given the care she needed, and was instead trained to assist Silco.

Am I denying Silco loves her? Of course not! He clearly does. But that's just not good enough. He's a loving dad, but not a good one. He's not the father that neither Jinx nor Powder needed.

Meanwhile, we have Vi. Vi loves Powder, protects her, cares for her, tries to keep her out of harm, stands up for her, and so on. She cares so deeply for Powder, and you can see it. The moment she got out of prison, her first goal was to find Powder.

However, because she hit Powder once, and shouted at her, she's apparently an abusive monster who never cared about Powder. Reminder, she hit Powder because her entire family was killed in front of her and then she learned Powder was the reason that happened. She was like... 14? And she immediately left to calm down. She did not abandon Powder, she left to take a breather because she realised she was too angry. And when she came back, she was drugged and arrested.

Silco is a grown adult who purposefully flooded the streets of the Undercity with a highly addictive drug, turned Powder into a soldier, and is generally a terrible person, even if he is a three dimensional amd well written antagonist.

Vi started the story as a teenager suffering poverty and discrimination just like Silco, had to deal with her own parents death, then her adoptive family was killed in front of her, and then she was forcefully taken from her sister. And yet, people are convinced Vi is a terrible and abusive sister who never loved Powder?

The only example worse than this, methinks, is Stella and Stolas from Helluva Boss.

Stella is a shitty mother who ignores her daughter, which the the audience is shown via a scene were Octavia is having a nightmare and she tells Stolas to deal with it. She frequently screams and swears at Stolas and throws things at him, with no regard for her daughter's presence or feelings.

This is pretty terrible, right? Of course! Everyone knows Stella is a horrible mother.

Stolas on the other hand, is praised for being such an loving and caring father, who tries his best. He even has a song with Octavia!

Well, he also: openly talks about having sex with Blitz and how much he likes it while she was right there, told her people want her money and her body, generally doesn't pay much attention to her either bc he's wallowing about Blitz not loving him back, and doesn't give her feelings much regard.

And yet, the misogyny extends beyond just Stella because people generally agree that Octavia is ungrateful and doesn't appreciate Stolas enough. They get mad at her for disliking the fact that Stolas is cheating on her mother with an imp who's been nothing but rude to her and ruining their family further, and even mock her for feeling unloved. Hell even Brandon, one of the creators, has allegedly recently called her a "cockblocking slut" which, frankly, is a disgusting thing to say about a 17 year old girl.

arcane s2 act 1

alright might as well collect my thoughts for posterity

first and foremost: obviously the triumphant cackle i was doing the entire hexcore scene. huge W for me, personally. did it always feel like the most logical and narratively satisfying extension from s1? sure. do i trust television to do the most narratively satisfying thing? no. especially not after fandom spent years of the hiatus trying to convince me otherwise

really all the jayvik scenes were, more or less, exactly what i expected/wanted and very satisfying lmaooo. i knew jayce wouldn't give a fuck about the shimmer or unethical experiments. i win!

other stuff i liked:

in the hiatus i've now seen all of yellowjackets and it has made me fonder of ella purnell and by extension jinx, lol. i love sevika and i think their grudging alliance in the wake of silco's death is a fun direction. jinx finding a random dumpster baby and adopting them immediately, silco would be so proud lmfao

i love caitlyn's dictator arc. i have to be honest i found her disney princess schtick in s1 pretty boring, so this is finally something more flawed and dynamic for me to invest in. yes girl get worse

ambessa rules. i was a little rolling my eyes at the "wow she was pulling the strings all along" reveal, bc it was so obvious and i was sort of hoping they'd do something more interesting with her. but this show has never been subtle. either way it still seems ambessa believes she's protecting mel? so i AM curious about how that plays out

i don't know shit about the league lore around the black rose stuff and don't want to <3 knowing league lore has never improved my arcane experience. but those sequences were very cool and took me by surprise. some good body horror with elora. good luck in the nightmare labyrinth mel!

stuff i liked less:

i think the stylized music video sequences are being a little overused. maybe s1 did them as frequently and I forget? anyhow, the police brutality one really worked for me, because it's the kind of info that def needs to be montaged, and the style was cool and engaging. cassandra's funeral ... i understand why they did it but i didn't like the regular arcane models mixed with the charcoal bgs, i found it distracted me from what was meant to be the emotion of the moment. and the jinx montage i found kind of mid.

i do think the pacing feels as breakneck as ever, to its detriment. i said above the jayvik stuff all played out basically as i wanted, which is more-or-less true, but viktor just be like I Have To Go Now was a bit abrupt. i can excuse a lot of that on the basis that i don't think viktor is really himself anymore because of the hexcore -- very flat emotionally, etc. and i assume we'll see them butt heads again later in the season. but still, the hextech weapons, the nonconsensual hexcoring, etc, would've expected something a little more explosive lol

plus, then we shift from that scene to the Furby Comedy Hour and jayce and heimerdinger having like a nonreaction to each other despite how acrimoniously they parted or how emotionally charged jayce must be sleeping next to viktor's empty cocoon etc... felt whiplash-y to me. but i hate heimerdinger and ekko teaming up to begin with lmao (and ofc ekko directs his frustrations with piltover to jayce, and not the 300 year president furby he has no beef with for some reason)

this extends to vi's decision to pick up the badge, etc. stuff just happens really quick and the fact that the passage of time in the show isn't very clear doesn't really help. i can understand why riot didn't want to spend two decades making five seasons of this show, but 2 seasons will probably feel too short imo.

man getting to the end of act 1 I can't stop thinking about what things are gonna be like for Vi with everything happening as she goes thru her emo pit-fighter phase. when she got out of Stillwater, she was fueled by one goal- protect/save Powder. She ofc had a want for revenge against Silco, but I think especially with the last episode in S1 it was pretty clear to me at least that she had her priorities pretty straight on that front: Pow first, Silco second.

there was also a very clear pattern of Vi being unable to really, meaningfully adjust to how things had changed in the time she was away: most obvious is how her sister changed and Vi treating her as one-dimensional post-Stillwater (she wasn't just surprised by Jinx's joy committing violence in the S1E6 end fight with the Firelights, she was convinced that wasn't her sister but something Silco imposed on her Powder), and to an extent also with a lot of the Undercity starting to get behind aspirations of independence. And I think this season is shaping up to make that second point more important

Vi has a good heart like Vander said, and she of course was pointing out how much worse life got for people in the Undercity with shimmer and the Chembarons pulling the strings - and that is very much true and Ekko + the Firelights make a good contrast - but I think about how Vi told Vander "I grew up knowing that I'm less than them, that my place is down there. I want Powder to have more than that" and it sounds very much like Vi's internalized a lot of how Topsiders view the relationship between topside and the undercity, but that isn't how most people in the "present" see it in the Undercity.

Whether its Silco, Sevika, the other Chembarons, or Ekko and the Firelights, they don't have shame about being undercity. they don't see themselves as less than topside - they know topside thinks that and hate that, especially Silco, but that's not the same as believing it. I don't mean to say Vi admires topside or doesn't love the undercity she grew up in, but I think there's more than just "having a good heart" that made her focus more on the harm Silco was doing than seeing the potential for independence, and I think it has to do with her sense of identity as a person from the Undercity being stuck in the past

Vander made a choice to "keep the peace" between topside and bottom, but violence is a spectrum and the slow, small, casual violence of class inequality (particularly with environmental classism) the idea that what he's protecting is really is peace as in non-violence is very much open to challenge. what he did protect in effect was a power dynamic between the two - Greyson treated Vander as a leader, but it was clear she expected him to capitulate to the demands of topside. And Vander had to give something.

When Vi tried to take on that responsibility herself, she had a major moment of growth where the true weight of potential violence and conflict hit her and we saw her take on a more tempered protective role, but I think we also saw that view of "Topside/bottom" really crystallize - and she kept that all through Stillwater even when, outside prison, more people in the fissures started to see it as "Piltover and Zaun", not in a hierarchy, but actually separate. Piltover's condescension towards the Undercity wasn't internalized by everyone in the Undercity once Vi got out, it was just a reflection of their arrogance and was getting in the way of them respecting a distinct people that had an incredible ingenuity, its own economies, and its own political systems. Silco having Marcus under his thumb was big organized crime vibes yes, but it was also a reversal of the relationship between Vander and Greyson, and in a way it reflected the changing priorities and national identities of the people in the Undercity; from oppressed and resentful fissure folk, to political adversaries of topside actively involved in pushing for their own independence, and fighting for what they built

I think, as this season its shaping up to look like Jinx is being thrust into the revolutionary role, and the previews of the next act look like that's actually starting to matter to her - or she's now seeing what it means moreso than she did when Silco was around. the lady liberty French revolution painting pose from French animation studio Fortiche Jinx flag part in the intro with the realization/wonder/reverence in her expression makes me think she's now going to take on a leadership mantle that Vi thought she would assume as Vander's protegé, and it means that she won't just be a "loose cannon" throwing a wrench in political machinations anymore, she'll be an intentional, calculating player on the field.

I think S2 act 1 Vi was okay with killing Jinx only because her idea of Powder was like her idea of the undercity - stagnated in the past and ultimately one-dimensional with its inflexibility. but if she starts to see that the people of the undercity aren't just a hurt people rushing into war like she wanted to when she was a kid, but have become a nation with its own identity seeking sovereignty, and if she sees that Jinx now take up that mantle, I think that might shake her a lot. especially with the kid, Isha, attaching herself to Jinx - like Vi saw how panicked Jinx was that Isha threw herself in harm's way - that shook Vi in a few ways, and one of those i think is that Vi saw herself in Jinx for a moment. she saw a powerful woman accepting the risk to her own life be unwilling to risk the life of another, more vulnerable person that clearly had some care and connection to her. I think that split second Vi really saw her sister. she didn't see who she thinks of as Powder in her, and she didn't see who she thinks of as Jinx, she saw her sister. And I think that's going to shake Vi harder than anything.

the writers I saw said that Vi has always been a protector and the next arc will explore Vi without anyone to protect, and I think we can expect to see Vi to go through some painful realizations that the way she has been seeing things doesn't reflect how things really are now. Caitlyn doesn't need protecting in the way Vi had been protecting her anymore, just with bodily safety, now if anything Cait needs protection from further manipulation, but that's another thing. Jinx doesn't need protection from Silco, and maybe Piltover doesn't need protection from Jinx either if Jinx really does begin to temper into a leader, and anyone else Vi might protect doesn't need the protection Vi was expecting herself to give when she was a kid.

Vi seemed to spend a lot of effort repressing her feelings when it came to people that made her feel safe - she cared SO much about Vander, loved him and looked up to him so much, but didn't want to show it and was gutted when he was gone and she was left without someone to protect her. She then spent a decade in a prison system that had officers intentionally targeting her, so again no protection. she made a joke about Caitlyn being her hero when they were in the Firelight's hideout, but given how vulnerable she was in the Oil & Water bedroom scene, I think she was trying to mask being genuinely touched by how much Caitlyn was looking out for her. she got so uncomfortable she lashed out about her parents being killed by enforcers when Caitlyn healed her stab wound in S1, and I wouldn't be surprised if we see her get uncomfortable about having Loris look out for her now. But I think it might also just be the last straw for having her confront some really complicated feelings about wanting to feel safe but never safe enough to let that happen yes I'm still hurt by S2E3 and the betrayal she prob feels and how she expects people to only want or need her when she can protect them the way she thinks they need her to

Touya looked down at you, scoffing and raising a brow. He did this because you had your arms and legs wrapped around him like a sloth, your head on his chest. He sighed, running a hand through your hair. “I thought you said I was your space heater” he said bluntly, a small smile tugging at his lips. “Well I need a blanket too” you pouted.

He glanced down at you, spotting your favorite throw blanket at the end of the bed. He sighed, going to sit up only for you to groan. “What now?” He scoffed, smiling a bit wider as he tried not to chuckle “Don’t get up” you whined, finally looking up to glare at him.

He finally chuckled, tilting his head. “Oh yeah? Then how do you expect to reach it, stupid” he said playfully, cupping your face in his hands and squishing your cheeks, making that pout all the cuter. “Touya.” You said, your voice a bit muffled by his antics. He rolled his eyes, shuffling a little bit to reach the blanket with his leg and tossing it on top of you.

It landed on your head, but he could see just enough of your face that he saw your wide grin as you cuddled up to him again, covering yourself in the blanket.

“That better?” He chuckled, laying back down and wrapping his arms around you. “Yeah” you chirped, poking your head out of the blanket. “How’s the cramping?” He asked, rubbing circles on the small of your back “still terrible but that’s to be expected” you said with a sigh, shutting your eyes.

“want me to go get you anything?” He asked, his question met with silence for a moment “…no.” You said simply, nuzzling impossibly closer to him. “What if that anything was ice cream and ibuprofen?” He added, running his hands up and down your back. Once again you were silent for a moment, mulling it over. “…maybe. But you can’t leave me to get it”

“you want to get up?”

“…no”

“…you want me to carry you, don’t you?”

“…yes”

he chuckled, sitting up and dramatically throwing you over his shoulder and standing up. “How’s that?” He teased, before shuffling his grip to hold you bridal style. And yet you still pouted, pointing down to the bed after you’d wrapped an arm around his neck for support. He glanced down and scoffed. “Oh yes of course your majesty we can’t forget your blanket” he joked, bending to grab the blanket and tossing it over you.

With that he walked you out into your kitchen, letting you open the freezer and grab your ice cream, and then reaching to grab your ibuprofen. You giggled the entire time because of how absolutely silly this was, and yet, despite the pain you were currently in, you were having fun, even after he’d carried you back to bed and tossed you onto the mattress “there’s your snack.”

You laughed, getting comfy as he lay next to you, laying on his back and looking up at you as you ate your ice cream contentedly. He was completely silent, save for the occasional chuckle as a little smile formed on his face.

After you’d finished and lay back down he rubbed your tummy with his way-too-warm-to-be-natural hands till you fell asleep. He didn’t dare to move till you woke up though, for fear that you’d get pouty again.

I think my biggest issue with timebomb is that it's just not compatible in their universe. Ekko loves Powder, not Jinx. Jinx has been terrorizing Ekko and the firelights for god knows how long and tried to kill him multiple times, not to mention their fight in Episode 7 where Ekko beat the brakes off her (I do not mean this in a negative connotation, besides she made multiple attempts on his life so its only fair) and she tried to blow the both of them up shortly after 😭

Even in S2, Jinx spoke a total of four lines to Ekko, and all of a sudden they're fighting together??? 😭😭 and yes I know he met Powder in another universe, but that's not his Powder. Powder is gone, and it's clear Jinx does not show any reciprocating feelings.

Because you're correct but don't tell them that. People say "caitvi s2 was rushed" and say all this double standards stuff that actually and actively apply to their ship.

Ekko/Jinx doesn't work in the main timeline and just feels out of nowhere because we don't see jinx and ekko interactions after they try to kill each other on the bridge until act 3 s2...

What repentance or acknowledgment has Jinx given to the part she played with silco helping harm and kill their own people. Plummeting zaun further than piltover did? None.

They have to pull ekko out of the main timeline and show him powder because they know jinx is not going to account for these past actions.

What ekko has is with powder. Now ofc he still cares/cared for jinx. We see the hesitation on the bridge. But to fully believe they should've/could've gotten a *happy* ending together is so deluded imo.

There’s also another grizzled man this week. Tim Rockford who in the capable hands of the same writer @secretelephanttattoo who brought us Marcus Pike (Doughnut Debauchery) and the reason I’ll never look at doughnuts the same, I’m sure she’ll find many a use for his gun holsters. She began her new series “Undercover.” I’m throughly looking forward diving into more of the chapters as she releases them.

@linzels-blog wrote another Din Djarin fic that is equal parts sensual and sweet. It’s called Safe to Touch. I’m rather fond of our intrepid Mendalorian and him exploring his body with someone he loves is a treat.

Speaking of which, who doesn’t like baked goods? We’re also being fed by @avastrasposts as she starts her A Baker’s Dozen series with Pedro Pascal characters. Her first one is about our favorite trash cuddle panda Dieter Bravo. It’s adorable. 🥰 Such fluff.

Yes! @morallyinept had me removing my socks and pants in an effort to cool down, it did not help. I will think of this version of Dieter Bravo when I’m out at night. Heck, maybe as I walk across the parking lot to get in my car after a shift. That honestly would be the perfect time… long story short, wild back alley sex with both Dieter and the reader being complete and utter lust filled humans. It is called, Back Alley Bang if you enjoy Pedro Pascal characters smut, it’s required reading or at least highly recommended.

I have a job you know. I actually worked this weekend. I visited my mom while she had a cold earlier this week. She’s very into Tom Hiddleston. Not a bad choice, I too appreciate his accent and baritone voice. She enjoys his dancing. 🕺🏽 I’d watching Loki with her and finally got her to watch Andor - she liked it but called it “low budget Star Wars” because she didn’t know any of the actors. I swear she’s so goofy. I love her. She also said that Andor grew on her like The Mandalorian and she wants to see more. I may be able to get her on board with both Lunas eventually. 😝

I’ve been working on my Statistics class. It’s difficult but I’m pushing through. 😵

Finally watched two Garrett Hedland movies this week! Country Strong and Four Brothers. The first was bittersweet but I liked it. He did sing a lot which was wonderful. The second one I’ve seen multiple times with little brother (he loved the movie when we were younger.) Garrett looked so young! It was from 2005 though.

my thoughts on act iii:

was it perfect? nope. did i still love it? yes!! its such a pleasure to be able to watch this show now, as the fandom is still alive. im really gonna miss it.

some moments i liked included that cait and mel teamup. theyre literally the opposite of their love interests its so cute. mel carried and thats why shes my girl. also caitlyn eyepatch. damn. so grateful mel saves her from that gingerbread man 🙏🙏 also im so ready for mel if we get a noxus spinoff.

also TIMEBOMB CANON BITCH. OH MY GOD. we got timebomb and caitvi back to back. i was FED. ekko is my fav, and its so sad that he couldnt be with pow/jinx in either universe. hope to see him more in other spinoffs. pls 🤞. hes called the boy savior for a reason guys he carried the battle.

and jayvik. wow. love really did save everyone. just…wow. that animation during their sequence was so beautiful.

ofc we have to talk abt caitvi. i was so shocked the scene was explicit 😭😭 (at least in my teenage opinion) but im so here for it. started watching for these two and now theyre endgame.

and of course jinx and vi. i love them with my whole heart. i think jinx’s fate is like a schrodingers cat situation. is she alive or dead?? (i think shes alive) but we may never know. and ive heard people disappointed by her ending and it does feel like a predictable ending for an unpredictable character. but i think it kinda shows her growth. (in my opinion) like she went to the warehouse in s1e3 to save her family. that was her goal. and now at the end, shes completed her goal. protect the family. protect vi.

and oh my god vi deserves the world. shes been through so so much. and at the end it seems like shes finally gotten some peace. only jinx is gone. its so so sad how in the universes where one sister is happy, the other is gone/dead. but she continues fighting. and i think thats my favorite part about her. vi is such an inspiration and im really gonna miss jinx and vi’s stories. but im so excited to see more.

arcane is definitely my favorite show. uhh yeah. just wow. thanks for reading if u got this far 🫶🫶

can i just say how much i adore jinx/powder's complicated relationship with violence?? bcs before powder did not enjoy violence. she fears violence. maybe even hated it, because it reminded her of when she walked through the aftermath of war with vi, of her dead mother's lifeless face. she gets into a helpless, immobilizing panic attack at the presence of violence. but she grew up in an environment that conditioned her into thinking that thriving in violence is something she should want for herself and if she doesnt change then she'll be left behind.

i know jinx is known for her destruction and her penchant for violence but where she began before she changed is what has my heart aching for her so much. how did she change from that helpless girl to the woman she is now? whatever the hell were all the things she was willing to go through for silco to disensitize herself for this evolution? idk i just love how much this says how desperate she is to be relevant and how violence in the end has become her asset like she loves violence she loves that she shines at what she was helpless at once before but even more she craves the validation that comes with violence and when she doesnt receive that validation its pure (self-delusioned) betrayal to her and she'll turn that violence against you and then force/manipulate the validation out of you, whatever it takes (not excluding kidnapping, manhandling, a body count, u get it). like its horrifying and heartbreaking what something so simple as desire for acknowledgement and acceptance can do to people and how it changes them.

(yes ofc there's more factors in play but i wanted to talk ab the internal stuff going on within the person herself which to me is one of the most interesting part)

I don't think powder hated violence tbh I think she was just scared to have that violence inflicted on her but like building bombs with nails and shit is finding joy in violence to me shndjd the difference is that fear of being hurt, maybe of having that violence directed at her because she's weak and small and aware that she could not win in a situation like that (which also makes sense why she makes weapons rather than fight with her fists like vi)

but the penchant for violence seems fairly inherent in jinx which I LOVE, this sort of interest and lack of care for inflicting it - its something that I think if she grew up with vi or vander would be nurtured completely different than her growing up with silco, as a means of survival more than a tactic to gain an upper hand, the genuine joy in it would probably be discouraged - vi is shocked and somewhat horrified to me when she sees jinx fighting against firelights but specifically rught before her reaction we see not jinxs capability but her evil joyous little face like when I say jinx fucking loves violence i mean jinx fucking lives violence the way charlie sheen lives cocaine or azaelia banks loves fighting people on the internet. when she's younger, when she's powder, she's also more likely to inflict it on herself like when she has a tantrum and hits herself on the head but jinx as an adult doesn't really do anything to herself as much as now she externalizes it by hurting people and is just careless with her own safety

I like the part of jinxs diary where she says about silco "he's like me" - silco doesnt get violent himself either, like he very much uses other people as his weapons to carry out and take on the violence he considers necessary. I think in a twisted way this would be admirable and aspirational for jinx, something to live up to with her weapons, her bombs and her guns, things she can use the way silco uses other people
