HUGE WIN !! one of the ladies at the group brought in a plastic bag full of cotton yarn and I spotted a small crochet hook in there (definitely a size I don't have yet, yay!!) and she was hoping someone would be able to take it off her hands because we don't have a thrift store anymore to give things to, and none of the other ladies were interested so I said I'd love to take it and I'd find a good use for it !!! YIPPEEEE !!

Its been over a month, but I finished it! Behold, a dice bag!
Tumblr media
The front
Tumblr media
The back
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the sides, because the way I planned it out the embroidery wrapped around the bag. I picked the constellations Castor, Sagittarius, and Draco to represent the chalice, archer, and dragon forms a Circle of Stars druid can change into (respectively).
It looks so small at first glance, but I found it can fit 11 sets of dice in it, 12 if you aren't too committed to closing the drawstrings all the way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Granted this bag is for someone who currently has three dice sets, but as a certified dice goblin I never pass up an opportunity to show off my shiny math rocks to strangers on the internet, even if it's just for a demonstration. Plus, y'know, it would be her excuse to get more, lol.
I had fun making this, and I'll be editing this soon to include a link to the tutorial I used and some notes if anyone reading this wants to give making their own bag a shot.
Edit: here's the YouTube tutorial I used:
https://youtu.be/lW_hfLYOYoQ
Overall it was a solid tutorial. Some parts of sewing the bag was tricky, but that's what comes with sewing really small projects. Careful work is your best friend with these things. The exterior/bottom part of the bag is supposed to be a stiffer fabric like canvas, while I used quilting cotton, but that's what interfacing is for. I stitched the embroidery part before I sewed all the sewn extrerior/lining/drawstring parts together and it made the process a lot easier. I think next time I sew a project like this I'm going to give the lining and drawstring pieces more seam allowance and trim the excess down afterwards, but I always forget that when making bags.
Another player from my current DnD group gave me a Really Fucking Cool™ set of dice for my cowboy character, so I offered to make her a dice bag inspired by her druid. I ran the design concept by her and she loves it, so I’m really excited to start.

I'm learning to crochet!
I decided that I don't like any of the news on here today so instead I'm going to show you guys what I've been working on because I realized that I usually don't actually post any of it here.
At the beginning of 2024 I decided during the middle of an ice storm that I was going to teach myself to crochet. You know how it is. Anyway here's everything I've made that I still have photos of (I had to switch phones recently and lost some of my stuff)
Tumblr media
so approximately an order: I started with a pair of leg warmers I could wear to work. On the one hand they are very cute and very warm on the other hand I cannot get them to stay up I need to add a tie to the top of them.
Tumblr media
And then I made a whole sweater. My second project I sat down and lately modified a video pattern (shortened the sleeves and made it a little bit wider cuz I am not as skinny as the original maker) and most importantly... I decided instead of the standard collar I wanted a turtleneck but you see this was my second project ever... And I may have underestimated how wide the chain I made was going to be and ended up with a... Mild monstrosity. It's incredibly silly and I love it
Tumblr media
Next I made this muffler by teaching myself how to do crocodile stitch. I was using leftover yarn from the sweater and some black I had around.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then I remembered that a friend of mine had made a request years ago back when I was still just doing loom knitting asking if I could make them a shawl and I did not have the skills and talents for that at the time but I do now so I contacted their partner and had them give me their new address and tell me what colors they're into right now and secretly made them this shawl
Tumblr media
And then I this crocodile scale dice bag to put in the box for the partner so they would have a nice surprise too.
Tumblr media
And my most recent project finished yesterday: My coworker is having another baby and has not told most of us yet. They have forgotten that I can hear everything that happens in the next room over though so I overheard part of the conversation of them telling our boss. So I thought it would be fun to surprise them with a pair of stuffed rabbits. Rabbits were my animal of choice for stuffed animal as a kid. And I like the idea of having one for each of the kids. I'm going to be keeping them in my desk until they tell me.
Anyway I hope you enjoyed this tour oh my God I almost forgot the important one that took up multiple months of my life just a second.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I made an entire blanket. It is made out of leftover yarn given to me over the years by various people and remnants from projects I've done previously. I like to call it the gayest blanket because not only is it a full rainbow but I did absolutely no math. Didn't count a single thing.
Anyway I think that's all of them.

Singer Spinner
Tumblr media
Nahi sat within the safety of the boundaries of camp, her legs tucked under her, as she watched the nerubian city that was suspended so beautifully from the cavern's roof. The intricacy of patterns that were the most stable and yet still delicate made her think of textile creators, something she never had before, knowing exactly how to create the beautiful cloth that tailors would desire most.
The musician, being who she was, let that thought guide her into the dance of musical notes in her head. Reaching into her small bag she pulled out her notebook and a pencil, turning to the back of the book and turning it over, she began to draw out notes, composing in her head and on her lips. No words, but the melody that danced across her tongue carried around her, first a note or two, then humming or singing it again and more notes joined in, each repetition making the music into a longer composition.
As she discovers the natural end of the tune she lets it carry off into the cavern. It had been quiet, not meant to draw attention to herself, not even wanting others in the camp to hear what she was doing.
When she looked up from her notebook there was a Nerubian hovering outside the edge of the camp as the attackers had been the night of the attack. Kicking her feet out and scrambling back a few feet, the memory of blood spraying across her from Dice’s coming to her rescue. The flashback left her breathing running away out of control, matching the beat of her heart and it took the dark Sin’dorei a few moments to gather her easygoing facade around her once more.
“Ssssso you are a,” the creature paused and its mandibles clicked and the hairs along its front legs rubbed together, “mussssic maker with voissssssse yesssss?”
When she could decipher the syllabant heavy speech of the Nerubian her vocal control did not allow a hint of vibrato to betray the trembling that the rush of adrenaline and fear had sent running through her when she responded “Singer, we call them singers.”
Two of the beings' eight eyes rotated to the outside but most remain on Nahi, or so she imagined as the bright black orbs held no true indicator, “Ssssingersssss… issss a sssstrange word but thissss one likessss how it ssssssoundssssss. You are ssssinger?”
“Yes, I am a singer,” she answered with a nod. “Do you sing?”
The Nerubian made a scratching noise that resembled laughter in pattern but not in sound. “Not ssssinger, ssssspinner. Thissss one isssss sssspinner.”
Wrinkling up her nose and tipping her head, the dark made the white of her hair luminescent against her dark skin, then grayscale in a cascade of multiple small braids she tied at the base of her skull, down to almost black where they end at the top of her hips. “Spinner?”
Instead of trying to explain in words, the creature picks up webbing from her spinnerette drawing it out between the claws of those arched front leg Feather-like hairs brush along the sticky cording, creating a sound that was similar to a harp but the tones were lower and more haunting, a deep humm into the power base in the center of Nahi’s core.
“You create music with your webs?” Nahilvi asked.
“Yessss yessss,” the spider being chittered with excitement at the understanding. It played again, and Nahi could pick up some of the notes she had been singing.
With a smile the Sin’dorei nods, singing the composition she had been creating, the tune was picked up by the Nerubian, a note at a time until they were perfectly matched. The eerie sound of the spinner accompanying the buttery contralto of the lounge singer looping through their strange duet.
During this lblending of music, a  few of the little messenger spiders collect arpund their larger kin’s legs, all of them keeping outside the encampment, respecting the camp’s borders.  As the music ends they shuffle side to side and the larger nerubian spoke, “Ssssinger sssspinner issss good. Ssssing more later?”
“I would like that,” Nahi replies with a warm undercurrent to her voice, this turn of events both surprised and pleased her. “See you soon, I hope.”

While I'm at it:
DICE MAIL!
(Woo-oo!)
Round Two!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wasn't planning on buying more dice so quickly after the last batch - But when I found no loose d6s at the local gaming store to use for my trinkets for the Christmas thing my family does, I decided just to order a pack online.
(I'm keeping at least the one set of 5 for myself, yes. I am indeed too much of a dice goblin to not)
While browsing, I saw the Bag of Splendor once more - And considering it's 20 sets for the price I paid for like 2-3 of the other sets I just got, and I was already getting an order shipped to me, I figured "may as well" y'know?
Wiz Dice's sets aren't as fancy as some makers' - But they always have such unique, neat colours.
For reference (start at top left, then go across then now as per normal reading):
Set 359: Poisoned Apples
Set 360: Winter's Dawn
Set 361: Mystic Matcha
Set 362: Harvest Nectar
Set 363: Nightshade Extract
Set 364: Northwind Breeze
Set 365: Frostbourne
Set 366: Kingfisher
Set 367: Poxbringer
Set 368: Argon Ocean
Set 369: Flamekeeper
Set 370: Midnight Runes
Set 371: Fairy Quartz
Set 372: Precursor's Legacy
Set 373: Cinderbloom
Set 374: Grave Moss
Set 375: Blood Oath
Set 376: Witching Hour
Set 377: Grimstone
Set 378: Death Diamonds

Step 1: Set up some rice to cook. How much? IDK, enough to use for a 9x13 casserole dish. I had to do two rounds because our rice maker is Very Small.
Step 2: Dice half an onion and put it in a pot with water and avocado oil to sautee. Why not a sauce pan? Need some high sides for Later. Add some salt, pepper, and sweet aleva paprika. Cover it. Check occasionally to see if you need to add some water to keep it from burning.
Step 3: Peel and slice 1.5 bags of thawed Trader Joe's brussels sprouts. (Do they come frozen? No. Why 1.5 bags? That's what was in the freezer.)
Step 4: Add the brussels sprouts to the pot. Leave open. Add some more water, and bouillon cube.
Step 5: Dice half a celery stick (like four inches) and add it to the pot.
Step 6: Wait until the rice is done and the pot has reduced a little so it's not half soup.
Step 7: Grease that casserole dish. Add the rice. Add the cooked vegetables. If you're like me, you can add some butter slices. (If you don't, this is surprisingly vegan.)
Step 8: Set to bake at 400F. How long? IDK, just check on it until the topmost rice bits are turning crispy.
Step 9: Serve with savory mayo (NOT HELLMAN'S, go for Thomy or Japanese-made Kewpie) and the fatty protein of your choice. I usually go for smoked salmon, but we didn't have any so instead my dad cut up some of the double-smoked bacon (which is eaten 'raw').

Mikey has been the DM for his Dungeons and Dragons group for ages. But that changes today; the local game store is holding an event, which means that he is finally going to get to play! The sorry sucker that's been assigned their DM, named Edgar, will have no idea what hit them.
---
And the other definitely not forgotten one @phantasycentral
"Are you excited?" Nathan asked as he walked down the street next to Mikey, holding his folder close to his chest.
"Am I excited," Mikey repeated in a mocking tone. "Of course I am! I've been stuck as you lot's dungeon master for five years now. Finally, I'll be able to be a player and join in your game ruining shenanigans!"
"Hey!" Caroline said. "We don't ruin any of the games."
"Yea," the other Nathan, or Nate as the gang tended to call him, added. "We enhance it!"
Mikey stopped in his walking to turn and look Nate in the eye. "You caused a black hole by sling-shotting a bag of holding into another bag of holding, ending the big bad instantly, and causing a TPK. On session four."
"Ok, but it's your fault we had two bags of holding," Nathan argued.
"It was not!" Mikey protested. "You guys are the ones who broke into the Grand Wizards Tower the second it was introduced, and then robbed him blind when he tried to stop you!"
"I mean," Caroline said, "You are the one who gave him two bags of holding."
"He made them!" Mikey was nearly yelling at this point. "He was the maker of like, all the enchanted items in the land, of course he'd have two bags of holding!"
"Still your fault," Nate said.
Mikey tugged at his hair. "This is exactly why I am so excited this event is happening. If I have to run one more game with you dunderheads as my party I'm going to lose my mind."
"I thought you already lost your mind when I made that Tabaxi?" Caroline asked, grinning deviously in a way that she only ever did around them. She was normally very self concious about her braces, but apparently bashing orcs heads in with a great axe made for great bonding experiences.
"Oh yea, that one that could run like, 300 feet in a turn!" Nathan said. "I remember that! You ran circles around that Dragonborn, literally!"
"I did!" she preened. "And I distinctly remember you saying that it was the final nail in the coffin of what was left of your sanity."
"I got it back," Mikey sniffed. "Because I'm just better like that."
"If you were than you wouldn't get so hung up on us just having some fun with your games," Nate said, elbowing Mikey in the side.
"Whatever," Mikey grumbled. "Hopefully, whoever is our DM for this event is someone really good, and our schedules will line up, and they can take the curse of Forever DM away from me."
"Well, we're about to find out," Nathan said, coming to a stop in front of the game store. "You all ready?" The group traded determined nods, and made their way into the building.
It was populated, but not full. A number of people were sitting at fold out table in the rear end of the store, just visible through the shelves of board games, RPG books, and fancy dice. A middle aged man stood behind the counter, helping a young woman buying a pack of Pokemon cards. He waved to the lot of them when they came in briefly, before returning to the transaction. They all hovered at the counter, waiting for him to be finished.
It didn't take long before the woman was happily on her way out, Pokemon cards in hand, and the man turned to the four of them. "Howdy folks!" he said, voice thick with a southern accent. "Y'all here for the D&D stuff I take it?"
"Uh, yea," Mikey said, shuffling his feet awkwardly. "We uh. We signed up online?"
"Yup, most did," he said. "My name's Chris, I run this place with my sister. Give me just a second to pull up the list and..." Chris clicked a few buttons on his computer. "Ok, it looks like you'll be playing with Edgar. He's the fella in the purple jacket, right back there." Chris nodded his head towards the back, where, just as described, a man sat at the head of one of the empty fold out tables, a DM screen in front of him and a play mat stretched out across the table.
"Ok," Mikey said. "Uh, thank you!" With that, he led the group the rest of the way into the game store. Edgar looked nice enough; he was on the paler side, with dark black hair and a well kept goatee. He had also set up the map pretty well, at least from Mikey's perspective; most of it was covered with papers, which he presumed would be removed while they explored. When the three of them approached the table, Edgar looked up and smiled at them.
"Aw yes, you must be my adventurers!" he said. "I'm Edgar, and I'll be the story writer for the evening. I assume you have all created characters for the evening?"
Mikey and the rest of the group gave a variety of affirmatives, as they all took their seats at the table. "Do you want to take a look at our character sheets before we get started?" Nathan asked, pulling the paper out and holding it out to Edgar.
Edgar waved the paper away. "There's no need. I'm sure I will become... properly acquainted with all of your characters by the end of this story. Now, are you all ready to start? I promise, it will be an adventure to die for."
Mikey caught Caroline's eyes from across the table. She looked nervous. They all did; none of them were exactly what would be described as sociable, outgoing people, so it was only natural that they'd all have some kind of social anxiety in this situation, but there was something off about Edgar. Something about the way that he spoke...
Mikey took a deep breath. His mom had been getting on his case lately, about needing to get out of his comfort zone more. She probably meant to start playing a sport or something, but this counted. Maybe Edgar was just as nervous and socially awkward as they were, and just had an odd way of saying it? "We're ready," Mikey said.
"Wonderful. Then let us begin."
---
Mikey couldn't say at what point during the exposition things started to get weird. Edgar was a very good storyteller, so for a while, it just seemed like he was painting a very vivid picture of the forest laid out before them, vivid enough that Mikey could see the towering trees and dappled sunlight on the ground. And then he could smell the clear, cool air, and hear the bird song and the wind rustling in the leaves, and feel the dirt on the ground beneath his leather boots, and Mikey was no longer just Mikey, he was Erdri, his dragonborn paladin.
"What..." Nathan, a half-elf cleric named Vaeril. "What happened? How are we..."
"Ok cool so I'm not just going crazy," Nate said. His spoke with a lisp, his half-orc tusks making the softer sounds of Common awkward.
"Not unless we all are," Caroline replied. Mikey almost missed her; she was a halfling rogue, which made her very, very easy to miss. "You don't think..."
"That I was a ghost?" It was Edgar's voice, coming from a squirrel in the trees. "If you didn't, you'd be wrong. You can call me Ghost Writer, and I've decided to play my hand at this new form of collaborative story telling. You will be my test group! How lucky you are."
Nate drew his great-axe from behind his back. "You let us go right now! You won't get away with this!"
"Oh, none of that," Ghost Writer replied. "If you won't play fair, than neither will I." Nate tripped and fell face first on the ground, the great-axe flying from his hand. "All you have to do is finish this adventure. That's what you agreed to do, is it not?"
"Not like this!" Nathan complained.
"Tomato, tomato," Ghost Writer said. "You agreed, and now you have to see the story to the end. Be careful! I'm not planning on going easy on you." The squirrel lost the imprint of Ghost Writer's features, returning to existence as a completely regular squirrel.
"We're gonna die," Caroline said, just above a whisper. "We're totally going to die!"
"No, we're not," Mikey said. The strength in his voice surprised him. "We're going to win."
"How can you say that?" Nate asked, brushing the dirt off of his face. "We've never done anything like this before!"
"Yes, we have! We've been playing Dungeons and Dragons for years. You all are experts at breaking a DM's story, and I know all the tips and tricks about DMing that there is to know. This "Ghost Writer" won't know what hit him."
"Ok," Nathan said, taking a deep breath. "Ok. I believe you. But why the hell do I believe you."
"I rolled like, an 18 in charisma."
"That'll do it."
"Onwards and upwards?" Nate held his hand out between the four of them.
One by one they all added their hands to the stack.
"Onwards and upwards!" They said the cheer unanimously, throwing their hands up in the air. Together, they made their way deeper into the forest, where adventure awaits.
