I'm going through some of my old files in my fanfic writing folder to see if any of the past wips can be salvaged for some kind of relatable lines and I found a 3 page long essay that explains what my OTP was and why they were my OTP and how come they were so good together. Christ. I don't remember writing that at all. But also my OTP was two people who knew each other for majority of their lives and always had the bff vibes and I keep thinking no wonder I love wolfstar and perhaps I should start reading and writing prongsfoot too. Maybe prongsfoot makes even more sense ahaha. Does anyone have recs for prongsfoot? Either way, it makes me feel nostalgic about my past OTP. I wonder how the fandom is now. Since it's a band fandom, so real people and all, and they are currently in their 40s and god, I kind of wish I would still be there, so I could write about these 40 year olds being gay for each other. The dynamics would be so delicious.

@lovelymasks said on discord that she wants to see The Bodyguard AU in comic form, and she's willing to wait for it for years even! jokes on us, cause i somehow managed to make these comic pages in basically a day... please, whoever is actually good at chess, don't double check the steps i've drawn, cause they are aesthetic only, i haven't played chess in 25 years🙈 also shoutout to @diamondmeadow who provided the most valuable idea when we brainstormed the chess session: "I just think they should strip" So the next one will be probably that...😘

I really try to! I love comments so much! but I'm very often like "wow that was an incredible comment. let me take some time to construct a reply," and then it's fully a year later and I realize I still haven't responded.

what's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

Duty (2k, Regulus/Sirius) or Waxing Gibbous, October 1981 (6k, wolfstar + Remus/Fenrir) because nothing hits harder than canon compliant first war fic when you know exactly what's coming and still hope for something different anyway.

what's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?

It's debatable but I think Icarus (20k, Parvati/Millicent/Pansy). That's a fic that really earns its hopeful ending for these women as they struggle with their substance use.

do you write crossovers?

haven't yet, and don't plan to, but life is long!

have you ever received hate on a fic?

honestly not really. I think someone tried to hate on the Sirius/Bellatrix mentions in Till Tomorrow or Till Death but they were so vague about their wording I choose to believe that they were enthusiastic instead. It helps to mostly write rarepairs and femslash and very obviously tagged dead dove content.

do you write smut?

I'm doing my best!

have you ever had a fic stolen?

nope

have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes, into Russian but then the translator took it down (along with all of her Russian translations) in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. (Slava Ukraini!)

have you ever co-written a fic before?

Nope! I would have thought it was something I couldn't handle doing, but roleplaying is making me wonder if I could.

what's a wip that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

my unposted 40k of Black family fic where Andromeda doesn't run away and Sirius sorts Slytherin. It would be really long and epic, and I only want to start posting it if I actually believe I'd see it through.

what are your writing strengths?

Dialogue, sentence flow, grammar, character voice (sometimes, always working on it)

what are your writing weaknesses?

Description. I'm one of those people who doesn't visualize anything, and so I forget that other people do and would benefit from any visual sense of what's going on. Sensory details in general - I tend to get super into my character's heads and am too into their internal world and not enough in the external world (which is also reflective of how I as a person operate in the world). I also tend to get handwavy about things I don't care about in general.

what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

that is such a specific question haha. do people really have big feelings about that? I included a little French in my Flonks fic but only a little.

what's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?

because of the roleplay, Draco has taken over my brain in a dangerous way. I want to write Draco/Sirius, Draco/Harry, and Draco/Regulus now!

what's your favourite fic you've written?

Ok I first included ten here but I cut out any of the ones I already mentioned, and then I tried to narrow it down further, but I still ended up with four:

do you respond to comments? I'm trying to! But i get very overwhelmed when people say nice things

what's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending? From my Marauders fics it's a toss-up between So Long, London and Ship to Wreck, but I think some of my older TUA one-shots were way more angsty (I'm scared to re-read, I cant handle the angst and MCD like I used to but January Rain I think was the toughest to write)

what's the fic you've written with the happiest ending? Probably Sweet Dreams of Holly and Ribbon - can't write a Hallmark movie fic without a soppy ending

do you write crossovers? Yes in the sense of characters from X universe in Y universe's setting/plot, but not characters from X and Y universes interacting

have you ever received hate on a fic? nope

do you write smut? >:) yes

what are your writing weaknesses? Probably just comparing my own work to other people's stuff and measuring the quality of my writing by the number of notes/kudos/comments

what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? Yes!! More please!! You could never stop me trying to sprinkle in a little bit of welsh when I write Remus <3 <3

what's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to? I tend to focus on fandom at a time, but I do have a couple of fics floating around my wip graveward for the Hunger Games and les mis that never went anywhere

what's your favourite fic you've written? Probably Book Shops and Floo Powder? I have a couple of fics that I also rank quite highly, but there's just something about Book Shop's little universe that's so special to me <3

The Queen of the Quills - Blackinnon Edition (part 3): On a late Saturday afternoon, right at the start of May, Sirius found himself on the front steps of the McKinnons’, one hand rapping the brass knocker on the door, the other wrapped around a large bouquet of fiendishly expensive tulips.

WIP - The Queen of the Quills - Blackinnon Edition (part 4): It has reached this author’s ears that the entire McKinnon family, the Potters and none other than Mr. Sirius Black embarked upon a journey to Greenwich on Thursday.

The Queen of the Quills - Jily Edition: The season has officially opened for the year of 1813, and there is little reason to hope we will see any noticeable change from 1812.

Dear Xina, I discovered your podfics before the actual writing when I was desperate to make time go faster while doing something unpleasant. By the end the whole ordeal, I was looking forward to doing it all thanks to your beautiful stories and voice; I couldn’t wait to listen more, it has become my time to spend with you and the boys in your beautiful worlds that you created for us. For that I will never stop being grateful. Thank you so much! I will always return to your works to relive them, and I am excited to say there are still some I haven’t read yet and that my time of discovery hasn’t ended just yet.

For those who don’t know xina’s stories, these are some I love greatly:

1. One Fish, Wolfstar

Inspired by this tweet: "Just watched a man bringing home a goldfish on the train accidentally pop the bag- fish flops on the floor. 3 people swarm to save him (the fish not the man). Guy chugs the last of his coffee and throws the fish in his cup. Lady next to him empties in her bottle of water."

So this is that, only wolfstar.

My Comment: Brilliance that will make you laugh aloud in the places where you shouldn’t laugh aloud. The sweetest story.

2. An Explicit Truth, Wolfstar

A truth or dare game reveals that Remus has never kissed anyone, and, for some reason, Sirius is livid about it.

My Comment: The good old truth or dare trope done exquisitely. Oh Remus. Top-notch Marauders dynamics. Hotness overload.

3. Under the Eucalyptus, Wolfstar

On his first day working at the queerest zoo in the Australian outback, Remus meets Sirius, whose smile is bright enough to knock him over. Sirius doesn’t speak aloud, but that doesn’t stop either of them from falling in love.

A soft romance about the value of slowing down enough to listen to each other and watch the sun rise.

My Comment: Soft love that will envelop your soul and swaddle it in the most comfortable feelings. Things done right in life.

4. Midday Train to London, Wolfstar/Jily/Prongsfoot

A newfashioned vanilla romance set in the poly and kink communities.

My Comment: My first xina’s fic. Absolutely wonderfully written, realistic poly and kink life. One of my favourite Sirius characterizations. Made me blush when I listened to it AT WORK!

5. The Phoenix and The Lion, Prongsfoot/Jily

It’s not every day you get to help your husband woo the woman of his dreams.

My Comment: Another wonderful fic in the poly series. We get to know more about Sirius and James’ relationship and how James and Lily got together. I love them all. Another realistic and hot portrayal of poly and kink relationships.
