You can easily hear every detail since Diamond Days has a sound that adheres to all current trends in music production. Along with the drifting between modern and old settings, MOTE also included strong, moderate electro beats that complemented the mellow chord progressions, fuzzy basslines, synth leads, and vocal harmonies. After watching gem Steven block all of White Diamond's controlly-blasts, I had to wonder if Pink Diamond poured so much energy into developing defensive powers because she wanted to protect herself from her abusive family... y'know?

(I mean, it can all be recontextualized in her family: tears to fix what her family breaks, empath abilities to try to better connect with them, and a shield so strong that it could survive even if everyone in her family attacked her at once...just in case.)
