Chapter 7 - No Time For Rest
You spent the remainder of the party excitedly talking with Izou. It was such a wonderful feeling to speak to someone who appreciated what you could create, rather than what your fruit let you do. He was interesting, witty, and had a dry sense of humor  - all qualities that endeared you to him. The two of you bonded over your love of avant garde fashion - though you hadn’t kept up with any trends in several years. You were planning on re-creating his original vision, and were excited to work on it with him. Others tried to change the topic of conversation more than once, but the two of you were undeterred in your conversation about fabrics, thread counts, and textile opacity. Later into the night, Vista came over and draped his large arm over the smaller man’s shoulders. “Sweet, I am going to bed. Care to join? Y/N will be on board tomorrow as well, you can talk to her more then.”  Izou demurred but did decide to go to bed - everyone had work in the morning after all.
You felt a little bad for monopolizing the Commander’s attention, but it had been so long since you met anyone who shared your passions. Even on your original island there hadn’t been anyone with the same interests. Izou blew you a kiss over his shoulder as he went down to his cabin. You laughed and returned the gesture.
You decided to find some place to sleep for yourself. Though Tate and the other nurses had done nothing wrong, you couldn’t let your guard down enough to sleep around other people. You liked having a wall to your back and always always always needed a source of light and never never never a fully closed door. You walked in the direction of the women’s dorms but took a short detour. If anyone stopped you, you’d just say you were looking for the bathroom. You found a narrow supply closet near the dorms. This was a good enough place until you understood the layout of the ship better.
No one was in the hall, so you slid open the pocket door, pushed some of the brooms and mops aside, and sat down in the back. You slid the pocket door mostly closed, but still had a beam of moonlight from a window. You curled up into a little ball in the corner, back touching two walls, and rearranged the brooms and mops so they looked undisturbed. You closed your eyes. You couldn’t believe it was just this morning that you found Ace in the bar. Things were changing quickly and you wanted some alone time to think. But rather than thinking, you found yourself drifting off to a fitful sleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next week or so was hectic, but overall enjoyable. The weather was pleasant, with sunny skies and no storms. You were in high demand all over the ship - mostly to fix things but also because a new sibling was always a source of interest. Everyone wanted to talk about your devil fruit power - something that you didn’t understand because you saw one of the Commanders literally turn himself into diamond. Surely that was better than fixing some floorboards.
Overall, you were impressed at the condition the Moby was in. It was no small feat to keep such a large ship running smoothly. But, of course, there was a lot that needed fixing as well. You did end up fixing Oyaji’s chair, and he inclined his head towards you and thanked you. You blushed so hard you thought you’d never return to a normal color.
It seemed every hour another Commander or Captain would come along and ask you to fix something that they needed. You felt like you were being pulled in multiple directions at every turn because so many people needed so much from you. You had already repaired two of the sails, so very many weapons, the exercise equipment, bunk beds, hammocks, endless mugs, sentimental trinkets, log poses, maps, masts..the list went on and on. And as Ace had mentioned, you did spend a lot of time in crawl spaces fixing leaky or broken pipes. It would have been easier if they hadn’t lost half the schematics to the plumbing system, but you could make due.
All the use of your devil fruit power was making you exhausted and tired to the bone. Even though Thatch had you on a special diet to regain strength, you still weren’t at your best. You needed frequent breaks and naps to recharge yourself, but it never felt like enough. You quickly learned where all the closets and storage areas on the ship were. If you were fixing the pipes, sometimes you’d just fall asleep in the crawlspaces.You just tucked yourself away when you needed a snooze and woke up later with no one the wiser.
When you weren’t fixing things, you were either working on your project with Izou or washing dishes in the kitchens. With over 1,000 people on board, there were always dishes in the sink that needed scrubbing. It was difficult for you to be idle, so you tried to fill all your time with productive tasks. You didn’t mind pitching in, especially since it allowed you to talk in a quieter environment with some of the crew. You had learned a lot about crew dynamics, culture, and lore that way.
You learned even more from Izou. You enjoyed his company greatly and the two of you became fast friends. You did start designing a new kimono for him based loosely on his design from the last. It was mutually beneficial - he was in seventh heaven working with you, and you got to have a new muse. You enjoyed draping fabrics over him as a live model, and he enjoyed being fawned over by a famous designer. The crew expressed their gratitude to you - Izou’s mood had been buoyant for days.
When not designing, pinning, cutting or sewing, you drank tea together as he told you interesting stories. You learned about the crew, their adventures, Whitebeard, and sometimes himself. He did ask you questions about yourself, which you tried to answer truthfully. You weren’t used to people asking direct questions about your life before your island was attacked or what had happened to you on the seas. You dodged some of the questions that were too personal but did divulge some parts of your past. When you didn’t answer, Izou never pressed you and simply moved the conversation along.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As time progressed, you weren’t seeing as much of Ace, Marco, or Thatch. They were busy doing their own work and leading their respective divisions. If you were honest with yourself, you were trying to avoid them a little for two very different reasons.
You saw Thatch the most regularly, as he would always come out of the kitchen to give you all your meals personally. He’d sit with you and chat about your day and what you were working on while you slowly ate until you were full. He’d try to get you to eat a few more bites, even when you were sure you were going to pop. He would also find a way to hold your hand or have an arm around you while you ate. Once he even asked if he could feed you on his lap, but you turned bright red at the suggestion alone.
When you fixed things in the kitchen, he would come up behind you and take ingredients or spices off shelves above you, lightly pressing his front to your back. Or he would “steady you” and hold you upright as he passed through the narrow galley. A few times, when he was behind you, he caged you in with his arms and leaned down to tell you something mundane. You didn’t know what he said with all the blood rushing to your ears from the intimate contact.
It wasn’t just a problem with Thatch, either. It was a growing issue you had with all three of them. They always seemed to want to have a hand on you, get close behind you, or (worst of all) pick you up. You couldn’t count the times that Ace had grabbed you while you were engaged in conversation with someone and hauled you over his shoulder. It always alarmed you and caused you to panic. You tried to talk to him about it a few times, but he would just say that he missed you and that wanted to make sure you were doing OK. He said he was so busy he didn't have time to wait for you to be free. You couldn’t stay mad at his cute face dotted with freckles, could you?
In exchange for being hauled around, he had started showing you how log poses worked after you’d fixed several that his subordinates had broken. He offered to take you out on Striker with him, once you felt comfortable. You wanted to take him up on the offer, since the tiny boat did look fun to ride.
Marco requested your services more than anyone else. Understandably, he got bumped to the top of the list when he needed you since medical needs were top priority. Sometimes you two worked in tandem, healing lacerations, wounds, and resetting many broken bones. You were happy you got to work expanding your fruit powers, and Marco encouraged you to try increasingly difficult cases. Marco really was an excellent teacher and knowledgeable doctor, you were learning a lot from him. But when he was explaining medical issues to you, he’d often cradle your face in one hand and hold you in place, ensuring you were paying attention to what he was saying. It made you feel uneasy, but the conversations were purely academic or instructional so you didn't say anything.
You were feeling over-touched by them, so you were trying to avoid them, that was clear. But you had another reason you didn't want to see them - you had started to have some romantic feelings for all of them. They were all caring and thoughtful in their own ways. You found them all unbearably attractive - you weren’t immune to their looks and charms. But your growing feelings of sexual  attraction to them stirred mixed and complicated emotions within you.
You hadn’t willingly engaged with anyone romantically in so long that the thought of opening up to new experiences made you want to run and hide. You hadn’t pleasured yourself in years either, due to some…unpleasant experiences you’d had a difficult time getting over. So, even though you felt your sexual desires starting to stir, you didn’t want to confront any of those feelings just yet.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Marco POV
Things were progressing well with you, he thought. You were quickly being accepted by the crew, who found you equal parts adorable and helpful. You were a pretty little thing bouncing around the ship, brightening everyone’s day. He already had to break quite a few arms (that you so helpfully fixed) to stop others from touching you. You weren’t some sea slag that anyone could have - you were just for him and his two brothers. They had found you and they would keep you, that was the pirate way. If some crew mates needed help remembering that, he would be happy to oblige.
You still flinched with unexpected contact, but you’d stopped shying away when you saw him leaning in to capture your face in his hands. You had accepted that he would be holding you when he saw fit - at least in the infirmary. He knew Thatch and Ace were making headway as well, getting you used to them being around you and manhandling you. They could take as long as they needed, the main ship wouldn’t be near any islands for at least another few weeks. Not that you’d be getting off board.
It was around 3 AM that Marco began his day working in his office. He didn’t need as much sleep as everyone else thanks to the Phoenix, which was beneficial given the amount of work he had. It was time to check you out to see if Thatch’s diet was working and you’d gained weight, he mused. You were looking marginally better, but still worn out. He wanted to get to the bottom of your issues - he really did want you to feel your best. He’d make you come in today to see him, not Tate this time. Lost in thoughts of your upcoming visit, he started to prepare everything the infirmary would need that day. As part of the process, he turned the autoclave’s dial on so he could sterilize the scopes, tools, and needles the staff would be using that day.
Instead of the quiet hum he expected, no sound came out. He opened the machine and tried to determine what the issue was, but there was no obvious solution. This was an actual problem. He didn’t just need the tools for your check up and whatever happened with the crew, he needed some of the supplies for Oyaji, too. He could douse them in Phoenix fire, but he wasn’t sure that would work for sterilization. Looks like you were coming into the infirmary earlier than anticipated.
He walked to the door of the women’s quarters and knocked softly. He didn’t want to wake up everyone, he just needed you. Tate answered the door sleepily in her robe and waited for him to start talking.
“Hi, sorry to bother you. Can you go get Y/N for me? I need her help to fix the autoclave,” Marco said in a hushed tone.
Tate yawned and replied, “she isn’t here.”
Marco was taken aback and responded “what do you mean? Isn’t this her bunk? Where does she sleep then?”
“I don’t know, I honestly thought she was sleeping with you,” Tate said with a smug smile. “She’s never slept here. She comes in sometimes to get a change of clothes or grab some of her tools, but no one’s ever seen her sleep in her bunk. Tough luck, Marco.” Tate gave him a sarcastic salute and closed the door.
Marco was fuming. If you were in another man’s bed, there would be bloodshed before the sunrise, Marco thought furiously. Where would you be, other than in the women’s dorms? He knew you weren’t sleeping in Thatch’s or Ace’s bed - they would have been crowing for days if you had even stepped foot in one of their rooms. Thatch was still glowing after having been the first to pick you up your first night on the ship. You weren’t sleeping with Izou, Vista wouldn’t have liked sharing any of his private time with his husband. There were no secrets on the ship - no one had claimed to be sleeping with you, he would have heard about it. So where were you?
Marco started searching the ship for you, but kept coming up empty. Marco cringed as he realized he would have to do a dreaded task - waking the Yuda. He would be the only one with enough gathered information to find you, so it was an unfortunate necessity. With that, he knocked on the door to Vista and Izou’s room.
Almost instantly Vista cracked open the door and glared at Marco. For such a large man, Vista could be quick when he needed to be. “What on earth are you doing?” Vista whisper-yelled at Marco. “Do you want to get us all killed?”
Marco grimaced and said “I need to talk to Izou.”
“At this time of the night? No. Leave immediately. If you wake him now he’ll be angry for at least 12 hours, if not longer. And an angry Izou is the most dangerous Izou.”
“I can’t find Y/N, and he’s the only one who can help me. I really need to find her.”
“This is on you, Marco. I won’t take responsibility if he shoots you.” Vista tiptoed back into the room and started quietly speaking to Izou in pleading tones. Marco heard rustling as Vista continued to talk to his husband. The Yuda had stirred.
Izou appeared at the door. If looks could kill, Marco would be dead, Phoenix or not.
“Speak.”
“I can’t find Y/N. I need her to fix the autoclave for Oyaji’s medical treatment. She’s not in the women’s quarters. I’ve searched the ship but need your help finding her.” Marco hoped adding in the bit about Oyaji would temper Izou’s attitude.
Izou glared at Marco at length. “Of course she’s not in the women’s quarters, you twit. She doesn’t sleep there.”
“Please, where does she sleep?”
Izou snorted and said derisively “You really don’t know? Fine, I’ll tell you, but only for Oyaji and Y/N’s sake. Y/N keeps erratic sleep patterns. She does not have a set sleeping schedule. She sleeps in short bursts, usually ranging from 45 minutes to 3 hours. She tires easily from her work and often requires rest. She will then try to find a hiding place to sleep before she passes out. The sleep does not seem to aid her stamina. I have never seen her sleep longer than 5 hours at any one time. She wakes extremely easily and is sensitive to noise. She often awakes with a panicked start, I believe from nightmares. She always sleeps sitting up with her back touching at least one wall. She favors sleeping in closets with pocket doors, her most used being the one closest to the second division bunks on the port side. Do not bother me again.” Izou slammed the door in Marco’s face.
Marco was stunned. The information Izou had shared left him reeling. Marco was mentally kicking himself for not keeping a closer eye on your sleeping habits. You were sleeping in closets? With daily nightmares? You were passing out? When was the last time you had a full night of sleep? Why weren’t you taking breaks from working? Why hadn’t you said anything? No wonder you always looked so tired. He could have helped you! Well, since you couldn’t be trusted to tell them the truth, he’d have to force it out of you. No more hiding the truth.
Marco  angrily stalked to your favorite closet. Before sliding open the door, he took a moment to gain a measure of composure over himself. He needed to be calm, collected, and in control for his plans to work.
Based on what Izou said, you were likely already awake after hearing his footsteps. Listening for a moment, he said in a cold and stern tone “Y/N, come out. I know you’re awake yoi.” A moment later, he heard shuffling of things being moved around in the closet, and the door slid open a little more. You climbed out of the closet jerkily and looked up at Marco with a panicked look. Even though to you he looked furious, inside he was excited for what was shortly to come.
Hi how are you? I love your writings❤️ Can I get a romantic matchup with LOTR, HOBBIT, Harry Potter, Marvel? I am 25. She/Her. I can match with a man or woman. I have short dark brown curly hair and hazel eyes. I have white skin, my height is around 1.65 and I'm curvy.
I'm generally introverted and cold-blooded. I'm stubborn. I'm generally pretty patient, but when I run out of patience I can get very grumpy. I'm a bit of a pessimist. I don't talk much outside unless necessary and prefer to observe. I am a good listener. To outsiders, I seem strict, distant and sometimes a little scary, but to those around me, I am very talkative, friendly, affectionate and fun. I'm also a good secret keeper, tell me anything and I'll take it to my grave. I am a faithful and loyal person. I'm a perfectionist. I always like to have everything orderly and under control, but sometimes it can be very challenging. I'm independent, I try not to get help for anything and I don't like to fit into certain stereotypes. I am always respectful and even interested in opposing views. I have a hard time voicing my opinions on anything, which can sometimes make me seem rude or disrespectful, but I really don't mean any harm. I'm a nerdy girl and I'm okay with that.✨️
I live in my own world. I love drawing, watching TV series and movies, and listening to music. I also love writing. I love learning new things about any subject. I love art, literature, philosophy, history and mythology. My favorite colors are black and green. I can listen to any genre of songs I like depending on my mood. Romantic Matchup; LOTR, The Hobbit, Harry Potter, and Marvel
~~~
Lord Of The Rings;
Aragorn -
Tumblr media
You met Aragorn at the very beginning, and despite being a lady, you were personally invited by Lord Elrond himself to join the meeting to see who would take the ring to Mordor.
You didn't really talk much, or at all, but you observed, being a good listener; though, as one by one spoke up, debating, your attention went straight to the mysterious, tall, dark, and handsome stranger whose voice you really liked - he was handsome, as said, and he was bringing up some good points.
Hands clasped together in your lap, you watched as people began to argue, and you were just a smidge annoyed.
Well, who knew you were going to become part of the Fellowship Of The Ring?
It was difficult at the beginning of the journey. Gimli and Boromir were pretty adamant that the journey was no place for a lady - far too dangerous, they said!
But Aragorn, you had learned his name, stood up for you, bringing up the fact that Lord Elrond himself asked you to join, that they should all trust his judgment.
Well, you showed them, on more than one occasion, that you were a wise and strong person.
Now, throughout the journey, you had slowly, slowly gotten used to the people around you. The Hobbits were easy to befriend, honestly.
But, at some point, you had grown comfortable in their presence, enough that you had grown to become more talkative and friendly.
Though, it was different with Aragorn. You didn't know if it was just you, but you thought that maybe there was something different in the way he spoke to you than he did with the others. Maybe it was just you...
Maybe...
Well, it turns out that Aragorn was quite taken with you, having caught his eyes the moment you joined the meeting in Rivendell; dressed beautifully, presence respectful, and eyes shimmering with a certain intelligence and strength that captured his interest almost instantly.
And his interest had only grown the more he got to meet you, get to know, and understand you; not only were you intelligent, respectful, strong, and understanding, but you were also loyal and independent - something Aragorn admired greatly.
As the journey continues, minus the orcs and whatever troubles you all run into, you and Aragorn's bond begins to grow the more you spend together.
From late nights of keeping watch sharing your favorite stories and books to recalling your favorite topics in history; there are even nights when you talk the night away about everything your heart desires, until you fall asleep, your head resting on his shoulder.
Aragorn didn't have the heart to wake you...
Despite you being an incredibly good fighter and defender, Aragorn always makes sure that you are alright after an attack from orcs or something. You do the same, your eyes at the end of a fight would search for each other, small faint smiles of relief on your faces.
In the end, Aragorn gives you the best room while you and the rest of the Fellowship stay in his kingdom after he is crowned king. Your room is one of the biggest, and close to his room, in case you need anything.
He makes sure that you have everything that you could possibly need. Someone to wait on you in case you need something, need help changing, a bath to be drawn, a snack, anything. And do not worry, you are not a burden. Aragorn would do anything for you.
Another thing; Aragorn gifts you lavish clothing, in green and black, that you are comfortable in. The sight of the new article always brings a smile to your face and a rush of blood to your cheeks. And, of course, he always compliments you when he sees you.
Whilst you stay, Aragorn often finds you in the library, reading, drawing, or just admiring the view outside - he often joins you, to talk, laugh, or just spend time in your amazing company.
Aragorn finally confesses his feelings and admiration for you after you.
"You have been my strength through every shadow and trial - my heart has long been yours, though I have been too much a fool to say it."
Well, let's just say, that you didn't end up leaving after that.
You and Aragorn work seamlessly together, both of you valuing independence and the quiet strength that comes with keeping order. Patience is a shared virtue, though he is perhaps more steadfast than yours.
Your friendly and affectionate nature balances his quiet reserve, while your stubborn loyalty earns his deepest respect.
Even in moments when your pessimism clouds your thoughts, he admires your unwavering commitment to those you care for, finding strength in the fire that drives you.
~~~
The Hobbit;
Thorin Oakenshield -
Tumblr media
You had run into the Dwarves and one Hobbit when they were getting attacked by the spiders in Mirkwood.
You were heading to Mirkwood - Thorin thought that was suspicious - but instead of just letting them suffer through spiders, you helped them cut out of webs and stab spiders to death; you were truly skilled fighter, it was no wonder most of the Company wanted to keep you.
Though you were a bit hesitant and distant - you met up with them, fighting off orcs, jumping in an empty barrel, and holding onto Bilbo so he wouldn't drown.
As you were all racing down the raging river, you didn't know if you were having fun or not. More like worrying over the whole group and making sure after every small waterfall that you counted each Dwarf.
One, two, three, ah, okay, all accounted for, all alive...
Thorin, even though you helped him and his family/friends out of danger, he didn't really know what to think of you. His blue eyes would watch you, observing you, as you also observed your surrounding, whilst also listening to the Dwarves about their stories and adventures.
He didn't know what to think of you at the very moment, but he thanked you for your help, to himself.
But you had been able to bond with most of the other Dwarves, like Fili and Kili, which consisted of laughter, shared stories, and affectionate hugs.
And when Kili was in pain, though you worried and your mind thought only of the worst, you held his hand.
These actions made the King Under The Mountain reconsider you for a moment. Maybe there was something different about you.
That night, as you curled close to the fire that night before he and the rest of the Company - minus a few - left for Erebor, Thorin found a spare blanket and placed it upon your sleeping form.
And only after the defeat of Smaug, and after the war - and everyone surviving - did he finally realize that maybe the 'something different' about you was actually because you might've been his One; he just was too stubborn to truly see it.
This new realization hit him hard, and at first, the King was scared. He had wished that he had gotten to know you more, had spoken to you more.
Well, you were here now, partying with the rest - of men, dwarves, elves, and Hobbits alike. Maybe, this was his chance to push aside his stubbornness and brooding and speak to you.
He made his move, surprising you by asking you to join him for a drink, where he gave you a goblet of red wine. And for the next hour or so, you spoke among yourselves, on the sidelines of the raging party. *Disco music.*
There, you and Thorin spoke about the music, your favorite instruments, books your loved to read, and more. All the while, you didn't seem to notice the way Thorin's eyes softened as you rambled slightly.
At the end of the first night of many more nights of partying and celebrating the return of their home, Thorin finally spoke up.
"You have fought beside me with a courage that humbles even a king - I would wish it that you stay here in Erebor a while longer, so I may properly show my gratitude."
It is while you are staying longer in Erebor that he finally reveals to you that you are his One.
To keep a long story short, all while courting, you and Thorin would sit by the fire and read quietly together, take walks through Erebor's halls, write sweet letters to each other, and Thorin would braid a piece of your hair, clasping it with his homemade, one-of-a-kind bead.
You and Thorin share a bond forged in mutual respect and quiet understanding.
He admires your love for reading and thirst for knowledge, seeing it as a strength that complements his vision for Erebor.
Even your perfectionist tendencies, though sometimes a point of contention, earn his respect - he sees in you someone who strives for greatness, much like himself.
Your unwavering support has become a pillar he relies on.
~~~
Harry Potter;
Remus Lupin -
Tumblr media
You and Remus first met at Hogwarts as students, though your friendship didn’t blossom immediately.
You were a quiet, observant presence, often keeping to yourself. He was aware of you from a distance, admiring your calm, controlled demeanor, which differed from his more lighthearted friends.
It was a nice different.
Although you were distant from new and strange people, your shared classes often brought you together.
You both preferred studying in quiet corners of the library, where Remus noticed how you worked meticulously, seeing how much you loved to learn not only from books but also from lessons.
Finally, after you had both gotten use to each other, you began studying together in the library.
You even started correcting his notes.
When Sirius and James found out about that, they teased him.
Over time, you became close enough for him to see the softer, affectionate side you reserved for those you trusted.
You’d often listen patiently as he confided in you, especially during stressful times.
Full moon times. It had taken him a year and a half to tell you he was a werewolf, and he was incredibly nervous that you would tell everyone or just not be his friend anymore.
He was scared that you would look at him in disgust.
He would miss your hugs as hellos in the mornings, he would miss the peaceful conversations regarding your interests.
He would miss the way your face would light up at the mention of your favorite muggle movies or show, or how you would ramble beautifully on and on about myths and philosophy. He wouldn't dare stop you.
He loved the sound of your voice.
He was a bit of a pessimist himself.
Surprisingly, and to his shock, he found great comfort in your reaction. When he finally gathered the courage to tell you his secret, his heart raced, waiting for the look of disgust he feared you’d give him.
But instead, you remained calm, simply listening, your eyes thoughtful yet soft. You placed a hand on his, a simple gesture that spoke volumes, steadying him as you always had in the quiet way that had drawn him to you from the start.
“You’re still Remus." You had told him. “The rest doesn’t change who you are.”
Years after graduation, you both found yourselves back at Hogwarts, now as professors.
Remus was pleasantly surprised to see you again, finding it easy to pick up where you two had left off.
Your no-nonsense attitude and perfectionism made you a strict professor, yet students respected you for your dedication and fairness. And also quite enjoyed that you would give them little treats and snacks after long quizzes or tests.
Remus often visited your office to chat after classes. You’d sometimes scold him for his relaxed teaching style, though he found it endearing.
Despite your -sometimes - grumpy demeanor, you cared deeply, which he always noticed in the way you’d subtly check on his health and workload.
Especially when the full moons were around the bend.
Remus would find chocolate on his desk in DADA.
And you'd find books on your favorite topics on yours.
After long days of teaching, you and Remus would often sit by the fire in his quarters or yours, sharing tea or hot chocolate. The two of you would talk about myths, Muggle literature, and your favorite Muggle music, losing track of time until the early hours of the morning.
It reminded you of how you and Remus would sit in the Common Room studying until the wee hours of the morning.
He loved the way you spoke passionately about the things that you were interested in, and he’d always encouraged you to keep talking, no matter how tired he was.
You’d both spend hours in the library or his office, quietly reading together. He’d occasionally glance up from his book to watch you, marveling at how beautiful you looked when lost in thought. When you found an interesting passage, you’d excitedly share it with him, and he’d always listen intently.
Adding onto the topic of full moons; on the nights leading up to the full moon, you’d make sure he had everything he needed. You’d sit with him if he was feeling anxious. After the full moon, you’d bring him breakfast and sit with him while he rested, healing, reading aloud from his favorite books, or telling him stories to help him relax.
On particularly difficult days, you’d end up falling asleep together on the couch in either of your quarters, surrounded by books and papers for grading. He’d wake up first, brushing a strand of hair from your face, marveling at how peaceful you looked.
Those quiet moments reminded him just how much he loved you and how lucky he felt to have you by his side.
You and Remus are great together because you balance each other out perfectly - his calm, steady nature complements your quiet strength, while your loyalty and understanding provide him with the comfort and support he needs.
Together, you share a deep, unspoken bond, rooted in mutual respect, affection, and a quiet love that grows stronger with each and every passing day.
~~~
Marvel;
Natasha Romanoff -
Tumblr media
As Avengers, you and Natasha work seamlessly together. Ever since the beginning, when she wasn't on solo missions or with Clint, you were with her.
Your cold-blooded efficiency in battle complements her own calculated and lethal style.
You’re both perfectionists who thrive on order and control, often planning out every detail of a mission to ensure success. While you can be distant or strict with new recruits, Natasha sees through your tough exterior and knows that beneath it lies a fiercely loyal and caring partner.
You're not one to speak much during operations, preferring to observe and stay silent, but Natasha appreciates the way you always anticipate the next move.
You’re skilled in hand-to-hand combat, just as skilled with weapons.
You’re not just observant on the battlefield but a force to be reckoned with. You’ve honed your combat skills, and even Natasha, with all her experience, finds herself impressed.
She often asks to spar with you, in which it often ends in a tie or the both of you winning the same amount of times.
Away from the chaos of the battlefield, you might not be as expressive or outgoing as some of the other Avengers, in the beginning. It takes you a bit to open up, but when you do, you have become friends with all of them.
You are talkative, laughing along, having fun with them; along with being affectionate, joking punches to the arm, or hugs goodbye.
However, when not spending time with the team, a quiet night spent watching movies or reading is how you like to spend your nights. Unless you are dragged to one of Tony's parties.
Natasha being similar to you, needs time to really get to know you, see what makes you tic, before she can truly let herself be vulnerable around you. And you have proven to her that you were worthy enough, and trustful enough for her to break out of her own shell.
She finds herself finding you around the tower, joining you in the kitchen to grab a snack, or even joining in when you put on your favorite show; Hannibal.
This friendly bonding becomes more and more often, almost weekly you and Natasha find yourselves spending more time together, even time with just the two of you.
The more you spent together, the more the bond between the two of you began to bloom into something more, something beautiful.
"You know... I think I trust you more than anyone else." She would speak up randomly as you both sat against the headboard of your bed, watching your favorite movie.
"Even Stark?" You would ask.
"Yeah, even him." She would reply, her smile matching yours.
Before you knew it, everything would shift.
From small, gentle brushes of the fingers as either pass by or a rare, soft smile just for each other... It was obvious that there was something happening between you two.
On lazy days - not really, the both of you end up in the gym sparring most lazy days - but if you aren't in the gym; pushing for each other to be better, you and Nat would sit in quieter corners of the tower, away from the hustle of the others.
She'd sit beside you as you read, her hand resting on your leg or her head resting on your shoulder. She would sit and listen to you read, or when you weren't reading aloud, she would rest her eyes, maybe even nap; the soft sound of Paris Paloma and Lana del Rey in the background
As a couple, Natasha respects your boundaries and your need for space, but when she needs you, you’re always there— - strong and reliable. In return, she supports you, offering her own quiet form of affection.
You’re never truly alone.
You balance each other, and neither you nor Nat would have it any other way.
Scream playing cards!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I made a set of four Scream themed playing cards for my partner’s birthday last year! I’m still very proud of these, and I’m working on another set of custom playing cards….
(Full page layout/more info on the cards below cut)
Tumblr media
These are what the cards looked like before I cut and glued them!! Each card has a slightly different back pattern. And each of the letters is in the font that Wes Craven’s director credit was in at the end of Scream. The card suits also all have meanings, and were assigned to characters purposefully, same with what card I gave them.
Billy-He’s the king since, well, it’s his movie! (Okay Stu helped a lot with planning and execution). And because his main pursuit is to get the queen-Sidney. I gave him hearts because they represent emotion, but also because it’s a red suit. (Also he’s my favorite and I love him)
Sid-She gets Queen because Neve Campbell is a scream queen. As well as that Sidney is a absolute royalty after everything she’s been through and survived. Then Spades because they represent “life’s trials” and intellect. Also because they’re my favorite card suit and I love Sidney Prescott.
Stu-Stu gets the Jack since “Jack” as it’s used in cards is an old term for a male servant with no specific skill. One who takes orders for errands, or acts as a guard, or really anything a nobleman would’ve needed. I chose clubs for Stu because they symbolize creativity, action, luck, and wealth.
Tatum-I know that Aces aren’t typically face cards, but they do tend to have very cool designs and I think Tatum fits that bill. As well, Tatum is an important, strong, character just as the Ace is an important and strong card. I gave her the Diamond because Diamonds represent courage, energy, and practicalities.
Wow you guys are coming into a new energy! I feel that this may be coming in by late spring to late summer, meaning June — September. Some of you may be my Leo’s because that season is popping up OR you may have a good time during Leo season. You may find stability within your finances and emotions or will be coming into it.
I’m getting that during the time you’re reading this you have been struggling for the past few months. Like you’re just stuck in a rut. You know that one song ‘nothings new’ by Rio Romeo — they kept singing nothing’s new…yeah. You might have even closed yourself off or couldn’t find the time to connect with people because of the situation.
Now I’m not saying “this is the end yiipieee!” It’s more of hey you’re gonna set sail again because the weather conditions are right. Because when you’re a sailor you know when you can set sail and when you have to navigate through the storms while clenching the wheel as tight as you can.
I’m also getting the radio host from the song ‘Hopscotch’by Tinashe. ‘Alright, we got another beautiful day here in sunny Los Angeles, California. Let’s take a look at our seven day forecast — we’re seeing lots of sunshine all week long — temperatures in the mid to upper 70s’. Yeah I typed that out cause it’s fun and it adds to the fun lol. I’ll even add it here lol.
Anyway before spring ends, you may get into a new hobby or fandom that just makes your world sparkle. For some reason that is the key indicator that you’ll get a break. Because of this new hobby/entertainment you’ll feel emotionally reconnected which makes you want to be motivated to explore yourself and everything around you.
As you start to explore and expand things start to escalate. It might become overwhelming so of course you need something to balance it out and that is where material/finances come in. It really could be finance or something that’s physical coming in fruition. Honestly for some of you — you may have been working on a looong project and you finally see the results.
The important thing to know is that this experience will find you instead of you looking for it. Like it really feels that this is going to randomly pop up (on your feed for some of you). Okay this is all I’m getting for you, I wish you all well :)!
RPG Spotlight
✨ A game I wish more people were talking about.
Free From the Yoke Is a Slavic Fantasy TTRPG by UFO Press based on their other game, Legacy: Life Among the Ruins 2nd Edition. The players takes on roles of Houses as well as Characters in that house, dealing with the aftermath of a revolution in which they regained their independence from the Empire. I recently purchased this game and have been diving deep into its rule book and I am terribly impressed with it. It seems like the most comprehensive system for collaboratively building a world with your players and playing both the small and big players in its political sphere. It only has one actually play series and a single review on Youtube. I need more people to know this game! 🌱 An unreleased game I’m looking forward to. I recently backed Dolmenwood by Necrotic Gnome on Kickstarter after seeing it talked about here on Tumblr and covered by QuestingBeast on his Youtube Channel. It's a beautiful OSR Style Fairy Tale RPG inspired by Celtic and Irish Folklore. The artwork is absolutely stunning and the setting has been lovely crafted for over 10 years. Its got highly detailed, useful information to run a game in its world and I literally cannot wait to get my hands on the full version. You can get the free Quick Start here. 🌠 A game with a mechanic I love. I recently got ahold of Household by Two Little Mice when it was on sale on DrivethruRPG and I have been engrossed in reading the books cover to cover. I've already covered it on this blog, but it's basically a High Fantasy Setting about little fairies living in an abandoned house complete with tiny cities, saddle mice, and spider hunters. After reading the Core Rulebook, I discovered a quite lovely aspect of their Aces mechanic. Aces are metacurrency players get and their tied to the four suites (Hearts, Diamonds, Spades, Clubs) as well as a Joker. The Aces can be spent to do things like get an additional die to your dice pool for a check, remove a condition, get a another use out of a once-per-session move etc. The Joker is all that and more with one aspect I found very fascinating. It can be spent by another player to prevent someone else's character from Bowing Out. Bowing Out removes a character from the story for a while and can be as serious as dying depending on the fiction. The Idea of a Meta Currency used to prevent character "death" that can only be used for others was really fascinating to me and I'm looking forward to seeing it in play.
You can get the pay-what-you-want Quick Start rules here. 📖 My favorite class or playbook from a game. We played Dungeon Crawl Classics by Goodman Games for the first time a while back, using the critically acclaimed Sailors on the Starless Sea adventure. It was my first time encountering the concept of the 0th-level funnel, in which you each player controls 3 or even 4 no-class no-powers peasants, such as farmers, chicken chasers, and cheese makers, and tries to take their 1st level in adventurer without dying. We had 15 characters overall and lost all but 3 of them by the end and it was a BLAST. So, I'm gonna say 0th Level Classless is my favorite class from a game and I'd like to see more system implement this. I was begging to play more DCC by the end. Free Quick Start Rules here. 🌺 A game with stunning layout or visual design. Frontier Scum by Games Omnivorous is the first thing that came to mind. It was the 2023 Silver Ennie Winner for Best Layout & Design and it absolutely deserved it. Frontier Scum is an Acid Punk Weird West Rules-Light Western TTRPG inspired by Mork Borg. It is an absolute blast to play with wild and weird characters but the book's layout is absolutely stunning. It really looks like a diegetic chapbook from the setting complete with odd ads and interesting locals laid out in a similar fashion to an old-timey newspaper. It is an overall treat to look at.
💡 A game that inspired my own creative process. I tend not to play an RPG if it doesn't creatively inspire me, but I'm going to call out Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4th Edition by Cubicle 7 as it is the system my group is currently playing as we work through the Evil Within Campaign. Starter Set Here. I was very inspired by this game's "Class" system, in which you're very likely to start off as a Rat Catcher or a Servant but slowly work you way into being a Knight of the White Wolf or a Duelist. It feels like the best of both worlds between classes as jobs and classes as feature grab-bags. I desperately want to see this type of profession system implemented into an more OSR style game or a PbtA Game, or even base DnD, the longshot that it may be. It inspired me to start conceiving how I might make such a thing a reality and really consider which games I plan to run might benefit from said system.
🔥 A game designer whose whole design corpus I admire.
City of Mist by Son of Oak Games is just an all around impressively design game and piece of narrative fiction. The core idea is that all the players are living in a world covered by the mist, which obscures the supernatural happenings of the world. Additionally, they're all vessels for legendary stories and powers, walking around and influence by the tales. We're talking a journalist rift of Don Quixote, a guttersnipe rift of Little Red Riding Hood, a Mob Boss rift of Hades, etc. Their Theme Book, Logos vs Mythos, and Power Tags system is so versatile that you could build literally anything with it and get a mechanically balanced, narrative focused and interesting character. It can be a bit difficult to get your head around it at first, but once you do you'll likely find City of Mist as revelatory as I did. Free Quick Start Rules Here. 🔮 One of my favorite memories playing a game.
After a decade of playing all sorts of TTRPGs its so hard to call out a single memory. I'll call out a more recently one, that occurred Chaosium's Call of Cthulhu 7e system in which we played the one-shot adventure the Lightless Beacon. Quick Start Rules Here.
My Character was Horse Driver and Trick Shooter by Trade in an Wild West Show (look it up, it's a real thing). She was also a Catholic. Myself and another PC were being chased by fish men after they'd swarmed and killed our other companion. We had no way off the island, but saw a boat in the distance rowing towards us. When we signaled for help, it was then that it tried to turn around. I was very nervous about shooting an innocent person and it was only after my GM assured me that the rower was also a fishman that I proclaimed, in character, "Wait, You aren't made in the image of God!" and shot the fishman dead where he sat. We all broke out in raucous laughter and we still quote the phrase from time to time.
My ex-husband and I each had our own rooms for our computers and our other things, like offices sort of.
My room is currently 10'x12' and gets easily into the low to mid-80s in the summer because it's Texas and hot as hell this time of year.
His former room is 12'x12' and has a window AC unit.
He's already moved 90% of his things out of that room, and the other 10% will be out soon. (That's been super hard to watch his things trickle away.)
It occurred to me today that I can move my stuff into the better room, since it's going to be empty.
His former room is currently painted a dark midnight blue, which isn't my favorite color, and it also wouldn't be great if we ended up selling the house for some reason, which neither one of us wants to do.
He intends to use this house as a rental unit long term, and I'm hopefully going to meet someone new to love who loves me who I might end up living here with because of the cost of renting an apartment.
Anyway, my ex-husband and I used to share his room when we had a roommate in what became my room, and at one point while we shared his room, I used the wall to push myself backward while I was getting up from my computer, and I made a decent sized hole in it.
That was completely forgotten about until today when we were moving his stuff and found the hole behind a bookshelf.
In addition to that, he's also going to have to patch the wall where he has a pegboard he's taking down.
Those areas will need to be repainted, and instead of getting some more of the midnight blue, I'm going to paint that room a nice neutral tone called Creamy Mushroom.
Tumblr media
I've also plotted out the layout of the room with a wonderful website that let me enter the exact measurements of furniture in inches.
Tumblr media
"Cubes" is a storage cube unit that holds 6 of those square fabric storage bins that will double as storage and a nightstand, "BS" is a bookshelf, and I have a 75g and 45g aquarium that are labeled "Fish."
Moving everything will be a HUGE undertaking, especially the aquariums, but I wanted to change the substrate in the 75g regardless.
I have a dirted tank capped with sand that has started releasing concentrated ammonia bubbles into the water. I removed a fuckton of a plant called jungle val, and the bubbles started coming up after that, which is a thousand percent not ideal.
I'm not sure what I'm going to use as a substrate next.
You can get black diamond blasting sand cheaply, and it does the same thing as black aquarium sand at a fraction of the cost.
I used white pool filter sand for the 45g, which I'm going to just remove part of and put back in there after it's removed and moved into my new room.
I fortunately have the 45g to temporarily move the fish from the 75g into while I get the 75g set back up.
I don't overstock my tanks, so everyone should be fine in there for a little while.
The 45g currently contains 4 Hercules snails, 1 mystery snail, and an albino bristlenose pleco.
I plan on moving my betta, Benedict, from a 5.5g "quarantine" tank into the 45g eventually, with his cherry shrimp, amano shrimp, mini rabbit snail, and pagoda snail "friends." (They are not his friends.)
The Three Dimensions Exchange Week
@voltagefandomproject here's chapter three in the series, and the longest so far
CW: Gore in text, cringe, and everyone just dying on the inside. Proceed with caution
previous chapter || next chapter
Chapter 3:
“Welcome to the House, everyone,” said Barbatos. “Please make yourselves comfortable.”
The smell of paint had almost faded from the walls. The Foyer was decorated with plants native to this region of the devildom, a shoe rack made of the finest hell-iron, a mahogany coatrack and a small crystal chandelier. Everyone looked in awe at the decor. The most impressed of the group are Ace and Jack. “You really went all-out on this, didn’t ya?” said Jack.
“Right? It’s beautiful!” Sherry chirped.
“I’m glad it’s to your liking,” said Barbatos. “Dinner will be hosted at the House of Lamentation at six o’clock, so until then take your time to settle into your new home.”
“Thank you very much, said Aquia.
“Also, thanks for stepping in back there in the council room,” Ace whispered.
“Think nothing of it,” Barbatos whispered back with a smile.
And with that Barbatos gave them the building layout, bid them farewell and then left.
“‘Spose now would be a good time to figure out our rooms, yeah?” said Lance.
“Right. Looks like there are seven rooms on the first floor and seven on the second,” said Azul.
It didn’t take long for the guests to figure out which rooms they would stay in. Sherry and Y/N took the two rooms next to each other on the west wing of the second floor while The rest occupied the first floor. Once everyone put their belongings in their rooms, Sherry and Y/N went downstairs to meet up with the rest in the living room. Or, at least, tried to, since Y/N slipped and fell down the stairs, much to Sherry’s horror.
“Are you alright!?” She squeaked.
“O-o-o-ouch”
Everyone rushed to the scene to see Y/N face down on the floor. Ace and Azul couldn’t help but let out a few snickers.
“You mustn’t be so mean,” Rio chided them. He turned to Y/N and helped her up. “Nothing hurt I hope?”
“N-n-n-n-n-n-n-not r-r-r-r-r-r-r-really.”
“I can get some ice,” Jack said.
“Oh, please do,” said Rio
Rio wasn’t going to take any chances. He scooped Y/N into his arms and took her to the sofa in the living room. Jack returned with a plastic bag of ice and handed it to Y/N. “T-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-thank you,” she said.
“Hey, uh, If you don’t mind me asking, Do you have a speech impediment or something?” Jack asked.
“W-w-w-w-w-w-what m-m-m-m-m-makes y-y-y-y-you s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-say t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-that?”
Ace had to bite his lip to keep himself from cackling, and it seems Azul was thinking the same thing. Jack and Rio’s expressions at her statement made it all the harder for the two poor boys not to burst out laughing.
Sherry shot them dirty looks before asking Y/N, “So, Y/N, how did you come about here? What’s your story?”
“I’d like to know that as well. I had no prior knowledge of you coming here. What brought this on?” Malleus said.
“Oh. My. God. NO!” Ace cried.
“Please listen to Ace!” Azul sobbed. This was already too much, and she hadn’t even started talking. Ignoring their pleas, Y/N’s body began to shake like an earthquake hit her and her sapphire-ocean-baby-diamond blue orbs dilated
“What’s going on?” Lance said. His question was soon answered when Y/N began to speak
“My mother’s body got crushed under a four-tonne truck, and my father’s body was shredded into pieces.”
Sherry: “I- Dragon’s teeth! This is horrific”
Y/N: “And my siblings went missing after my cousin got impaled by an iron fence and when a giraffe slung my cat to the moon”
Aquia: “What in the Devildom?”
Y/N: “I soon got taken in by an abusive orphanage and they tried to sell me to Vil Schoenheit two weeks ago-”
Jack: “Pardon??”
Azul: “I guess that explains why Vil was so quiet in our last housewarden meeting…”
Y/N: “And then my rich ex-boyfriend who is part vampire, part human, part lizard, part Teletubby, and part demon and a mafia boss for a subdivision in the Devildom’s mafia who bullied me is looking for me so I ran and asked Lord Diavolo to grant me asylum here”
Lance: “... Is this person even real?”
Malleus: “Hold up. Your ex bullied you? How did you even get into a relationship in the first place?”
Ace: “It’s the bully and the nerd falling in love trope isn’t it? Too bad that hardly ever works out in real life. Case in point: ”
Ace gestured toward Y/N to make his point, to which Y/N lowered her gaze. “Uh- anyway, why did you seek asylum here?”
“Ace, she went through a traumatic experience!” Aquia chided. “She might not be comfortable with-”
“He’s looking for me because I’m three weeks pregnant with his baby,” Y/N interrupted.
Ace: “AND A WHAT-WHEN-WHO-A-FUCKING?! Wait a minute, what time is it?”
Azul: “It’s 3:27. We’ve only known her for less than two hours”
This was going to be a long night.
Dreamscape Update!
The name is now SLEEPING WILLOW.
I was doing my due diligence and researching the original game name: Dreamscape. While the other game with the same name was released in 2004 (on rpggeek) I decided to play it safe. I changed it to Dreamcraft. This game was done in 2020. Too close to home. So now the current name I have chosen points to a major part of the setting and still has a dreamy feel to it.
NEXT
I have settled on three main mechanics: Blackjack, Five Card Poker, and Card Dueling.
Blackjack is the main mechanic to have a conversation with a Dreamer and to craft dreams.
Five Card Poker covers the ‘Town Social Play’ a mode in which you experience events throughout the town of Dreamscape.
Card Dueling is used against Nightmares. I’ve considered removing this mechanic . It’s one I’m making up and requires a lot of explanation to understand although the actual gameplay is simple and has some tension.
Removing Card Dueling means I may be able to ignore a different concept for ‘Nightmares Severity’ and ‘NPC Complexity’. I want to be as focused and streamlined as possible.
NEXT
I am working on the oracles. Hearts as Emotions, Diamonds as Materials, Clubs as Challenges, and Spades as Dangers are safe bets. Unfortunately, the last two things felt confusing to me. There is a gray area between danger and challenge depending on who you’re talking to. I also didn’t want to get too dark and lose the cozy feel. So…
Themes for Suits:
Heart - Time
Diamonds - Mystery
Clubs - Connections
Spades - Mystical (name pending)
And I have a theme for each kind of card Ace, Face Card, and Numbered. I want to keep the Jokers in, but that may have to come with a later update. That may be hard if I want to join the next months Jam!
LAST
My remaining tasks are at least:
Complete Oracle (Just a universal one for now)
Layout (it's just a mess of material right now)
Art & Design (Procreate Doodles and Game Icons)
Grammar/Spelling/Word Choice (So much will slip by)
Setting Description (Enough to set a mood and with literal room for expansion)
Brief Lore (To ground players and create a mindset)
Example Gameplay (Technically me playtesting)
Anyway! This is my game so far (without getting too in-depth). It's due in 9 days, but I’m trying to make it 8 and use 9 to fix anything if I find it last minute.
Klondike Solitaire is a classic card game that is often associated with the standard solitaire experience. Played with a standard deck of 52 cards, this card game involves arranging and sorting cards into a particular layout to achieve a winning condition.
To begin, the game starts with a tableau made up of seven columns. The first column has one card, the second has two cards, the third has three cards, and so on, until the seventh column, which has seven cards. The top card of each column is face-up, while the remaining cards are face-down. The deck is placed in a draw pile, from which players can draw cards to assist in gameplay.
The objective of Klondike Solitaire is to move all the cards to four foundation piles, each corresponding to one of the four suits: hearts, diamonds, clubs, and spades. These foundation piles need to be built in ascending order from Ace to King.
Gameplay involves several key actions. Players can move cards within the tableau to create descending sequences of alternating colors (for instance, a red 6 can be placed on a black 7). Cards can also be moved to the foundation piles in ascending order within the same suit. The game also allows players to draw cards from the deck, which can be used to either place on the tableau or the foundation piles. Cards from the tableau can be moved to the foundation piles if they match the required rank and suit.
A crucial aspect of Klondike Solitaire is managing the draw pile. Cards from the deck can be drawn one at a time or in groups, depending on the version of the game. If the draw pile is exhausted, the game typically allows players to reshuffle the discarded cards and use them again.
Players need to carefully strategize to uncover hidden cards, build sequences in the tableau, and transfer cards to the foundation piles. The game is won when all cards have been moved to their respective foundation piles in the correct order. If no more moves are possible and the tableau and foundation piles are not yet complete, the game is lost. This solitaire is known for its blend of skill and luck, offering a challenging and engaging experience for players.
Learning Tarot is a process, and part of that process is repetition.
Last time we looked at Lenormand cards, we started to explore two card combinations, which seem to be a big part of the Lenormand style of Tarot reading. Often when particular combinations of cards are seen, the meanings for the cards change a bit, not unlike a reversal in RWS style cards and readings.
The best way to understand that connection seems to be two card sets. It makes sense to understand the foundation, the building blocks of a larger layout before using a larger layout. In RWS style, that foundational building block is the single card reading, which plugs into the individual positions of any layout which is then woven together in a meta-analytical, intuition driven way.
I'm still learning Lenormand along with you, but it seems to me that building block isn't single cards, but the underlying connections between 2 or 3 cards, like a flat mat with dots (single card meanings) stuck on top.To put it in arts and crafts terms, RWS is knitting while Lenormand is paper-making with speckles on top.Today we have snake and fish. So starting with that foundational fabric, what is the common energy matrix behind the Flow and suppleness are common traits between the two. The fish are associated with prosperity. The snake in the guidebook is associated with typical western cultural meanings like deceit and deviousness.
Intuitively, however, I am reminded of Chinese astrology. People born in the year of the snake are said to be competent, wise, intuitive and passionate. When I put all of those aspects together the two-together message is to protect your resources through wisdom and know-how (akin to a four of pentacles combined with an ace of swords sort of vibe)I'm not sure if or how the playing card insets factor into it. Queen of clubs with the snake is akin to the queen of wands - which reinforces the idea of self-care, in the form of caring for physical resources. The king of diamonds is like the king of pentacles, reinforcing the notion that this is about common sense, physical realm money management more than some sort of grand spiritual lesson.
Sometimes, as Freud said, a cigar is just a cigar.
Sometimes, as these cards seem to stay, you just have to mind the budget, even at the holidays. The energy here is all about practical, level headed things, unrelated to spirituality or emotion. Once we make the physical stable and safe, then we can turn our minds and hearts to the spiritual, emotional and intangible.Between now and New Year I don't intend to hold to any particular schedule other than doing email private readings as they come in.Usually I try to do the Learn With Me on Wednesdays and the Substack newsletter as a weekly digest on the weekend, with one card posts as often as I can manage on weekdays.I'm still of two minds about the "path through the week" thing on Mondays.What do you think? What kind of readings or posts would you like to see in the blog? For goodness' sake don't be shy. As long as it isn't spam,  by all means post your questions or suggestions in the comments. Contact info is in the right hand column (or bottom of the page on mobile) too.I'm planning to do a bunch of re-introductory and behind the scenes posts over the next few weeks sliding in and around day job, private readings and the holidays.If you want a private Tarot reading by email, you can order it HERE anytime, 24/7 no appointment needed. I'll get the typed reading with a photo of your real-world card layout to you usually within 24 hours.Thank you so much for reading! See you at the next sip!via Learn With Me: Lenormand, snake and fish)
