What started as a diabetes medication looks extra promising for heart health, even for those who don't lose much weight, and now, experts are learning of the drug's potential benefits to kidney health, too. A large international trial, funded by the pharmaceutical supplier of Ozempic, Novo Nordisk, suggests that when the medication is given at a lower dose than is common for diabetes or weight loss, the kidneys seem to profit. The trial involved more than 3,500 participants from 28 different countries with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease – a combination of illnesses that puts individuals at a much higher risk of kidney failure and at-times fatal cardiovascular events, like heart attacks.

Scientists Develop Novel Machine Learning Models to Predict Comorbidities at an Early Stage of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM), a recognized risk factor for heart failure (HF) and cardiovascular illnesses such as chronic kidney disease (CKD), was diagnosed in an estimated 537 million people worldwide.

In order to manage CKD and HF in individuals with early stages of T2DM, a complete treatment strategy is preferred. Early and better detection of these disorders can improve results. But recent research indicates that T2DM patients’ CKD and HF are not properly recognized, which results in increased rates of disease progression and a worse prognosis.

Researchers at AstraZeneca and Ono Pharmaceuticals created a model that could predict the likelihood that individuals with T2DM who had no prior history of CKD would develop CKD/HF. This study is a major step toward early and better diagnosis of CKD and HF in patients with T2DM.

Every time o research things to learn abt my brothers new type one diabetes diagnosis I have vivid flashbacks to how he looked when we were loading him into the car to go to the er and I start having a panic attack

you know i know its easy to say for a guy with disorders like me but i really appreciate we were speaking about centipedes and now we're lying about diabetes i'm really really at home right now like im watching the hit movie the human centipede (first sequence) (2009) where the iconic antagonist doctor josef heiter tells the two cops that had come to his house to investigate the mmissing people case, people now turned into the titular centipede, and he tries to knock them out with a syringe but he fails because he's a little nervous and even more excited so he drops it and the cop sees it and he has to say on the spot that it was for his diabetes and then freaks the fuck out because he cant mask to save his life. Obviously there's no chance this is on purpose it'd be fucking insane if it was but its a nice coincidence :)
