Tumblr media
in case you can't see, it's "c dflat eflat dflat c aflat eflat (lower) aflat bflat c bflat aflat × 3 f eflat dflat c" in the key of a flat major!
sorry for not writing in articulations and rhythm, but i think y'all can figure it out :3
also i think it's played an octave higher than what i wrote lol

Made a comment on the upload of sound test penumbral phantasm on YouTube with my personal thoughts on its relevance to deltarune. im gonna put the whole thing here as well for archival purposes since yt comments are... Finicky. Link to penumbral phantasm video is in the read-more.
-
The gaster motif is pretty much in this song actually. Its just 8 semitones lower and with slightly different rhythm, right at 1:33, its D, Dflat, D, A.
Gasters theme is A, Asharp, F, Asharp.
If you play it like Asharp, A, Asharp, F, the resemblance is especially poignant.
It should also be noted that the verse its used in from 1:30 to 1:36 roughly is also What "THE HOLY" from deltarune seems to be motif-ing.
Alternatively but just as important, the main ever repeating motif of penumbral phantasm at the very start of D, Dflat, E, Dflat-Dflat, D, is already incredibly close to gasters theme. its still 8 semi tones down from gasters, and is made up of only 3 tones in a specific pattern over and over again.
If theres anything to take from penumbral phantasm, i think it should at least be that its a neat look into an early version of gasters motif.
At the MOST, you should take away that we could finally get penumbral phantasm for real this time/j

Bleh having trouble figuring out tritone substitution in a natural minor scale.
Maybe I should play with other modes?
F Lydian has the dominant chord Cmaj7 and tritone substitution gives G flat maj 7 which might work?
So replace CEGB with Gflat Bflat Dflat F
So it might work?
Need to play around but I'm a bit tired right now.
So take G then tritone substitution gives B and Dm for IV and ii substitutes. Actually tritone substitution should work okay for mixolydian.
Dm7 is DFAB which goes to Aflat m7 which is A-flat B E-flat F
So you still have the B and F same notes.
Need to play around though.
Fdim should work for E Phrygian maybe?

Prokofiev: Piano Concerto no. 1 in D-flat major, op. 10 Prokofiev was not only a great composer, but a well-know piano prodigy since an early age. He wrote his first piano concerto while still studying at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory. Composed in 1911, and premiered in 1912 in Moscow, it is an essential piece of the modern piano repertoire. Despite its short length (it takes around 15 minutes to perform), it is full of humour and virtuoso runs, and it switches between 11 different tempo markings. He dedicated the work to the ’’dreadful Tcherepnin’’, who taught conducting at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory from 1905 to 1917.
The piece starts in D-flat major, which is usally associated with emotional and dreamlike music-well, Prokofiev has an interesting take on it. The first theme could be an opening theme of a Tchaikowsy concerto, but it does not last too long, and the next themes, full of sarcasm and playfulness, start to dominate. We can hear a slow section in the middle of the concerto which reminds me the way Franz Liszt composed his single movement piano concertos, welding together the three movements of the traditional concerto from.
In 1914, Prokofiev applied for the Anton Rubinstein Prize for pianists, and he won first prize with performing his own concerto. The head of the jury was Alexander Glazunow.
I chose a recording form 2005, with Martha Argerich being the soloist and Alexandre Rabinovitch conducting. I think that Argerich’s impeccable technique and fiery expressiveness fits the spirit of the young Prokofiev very well.

Dflat Pantoum no end
Tumblr media
As Shankar’s last music unravels its bloom                           tireless in Dflat through my laptop plink plop I will just keep on making Dflat Pantoum as there is nothing happening to make me stop.
Tireless in Dflat through my laptop plink plop the seamless loop of notes kicks aside its stones as there is nothing happening to make me stop I listen in on gossip of the djinn zone.
The seamless loop of notes kicks aside its stones playback is perfect although monophonic I listen in on gossip of the djinn zone too bad no one will bring a gin and tonic.
Playback is perfect although monophonic the Raga Mishra Kafi starts a third time too bad no one will bring a gin and tonic impossible to hear sounds which do not rhyme.
The Raga Mishra Kafi starts a third time a gray langur could write poetry like this impossible to hear sounds which do not rhyme each tanpura note the slightest angel’s kiss.
A gray langur could write poetry like this, and for all I know theirs may be much the same; each tanpura note the slightest angel’s kiss, every rising sun a birth of massive flame.
And for all I know theirs may be much the same, a life of brief vision in a bowl of sky, every rising sun a birth of massive flame, the moaning breezes a fellow creature’s cry.
A life of brief vision in a bowl of sky the moaning breezes a fellow creature’s cry. As Shankar’s last music unravels its bloom                           I will just keep on making Dflat Pantoum

Oh fuck I have not nearly learned enough music theory (or rather, how chord numbers work) to comprehend just how cool the verse composition for Wakachannai is. It's like entirely circle of fifths pivots, which okay, is the premise behind Royal Road, but this is doing it in minor key which is novel to me, and does have a twist at the end, so hrmpf. Nani mo wakacchanai - Probably Aflat minor (as per the preceding instrumental intro), but the specific notes are also compatible with Dflat minor, which previews the key of the pre-chorus and chorus Nani mo wakacchanai Dare mo wakacchanai - Dflat major (fifth down from Aflat), but the specific notes evoke F minor, for which Aflat is the relative major Dare mo wakacchanai Kanashin jau ja nai - Gflat minor (fifth down from Dflat) Kanashin jau ja nai Namida shichau ja nai - B major (fifth down from Gflat), but the actual note is still just Gflat, which enables the next line Namida shichatte tomaranai - Dflat minor (fifth UP from Gflat), and also is a slick transition to the key of the next section of the song
