Inquisitor as a Companion: Banter
MARELAS OF CLAN ELNORA (ORIGINALLY LAVELLAN)
From the template of dextronoms (original here)
Voice:
Marelas tends to speak quietly and gently, with his voice coming either from his chest or his throat. He enunciates clearly and his voice is warm. He can sing very well, but you will never get to hear it; he's too shy for that. Still, there is a rhythm and a tempo to the way he speaks. Sometimes, it sounds a bit like he's performing theater
Cole’s reflection on their thoughts:
Cole: "Cold, ice and darkness, whirling water all around. It pushes, pulls, presses into-"
Marelas: "Cole, please. This is not helping."
Cole: "It's alright. You don't have to fear the water forever. I can help."
Marelas: (gently) "You are speaking out loud, and dragging me back into that moment, Cole. That is not helping. It's quite violent, in fact."
Cole: "I... it is?
Marelas: "I understand that you didn’t mean to. But if you truly want to help someone, speak to them when you two are alone. Offer your help and detail the kind of help you want to give first. Then let them choose if they want to accept it or not. Don't just jump in."
Cole: "That is better?"
Marelas: "For the big hurts, it is. You can keep hiding the daggers of drunk soldiers, though."
Cole: "But the death I'm avoiding there is not a small hurt!"
Marelas: "That's true. But the help that you offer brings only a small hurt. Talking out loud about other people's painful memories and forcing them to accept help is a much bigger hurt than a lost dagger."
Cole: "I... don't know if I understand. But..."
Marelas: "You can feel our distress. You will learn which of the things you do to help cause more or less hurt. Keep an eye on that."
Cole: "Yes... I will."
Comment(s) on Mages:
(entreating) “Inquisitor, look closely. This is no camp. This is a refuge.”
“No food storage, no tents. Magic can make for warmth when the nights are cold, but these conditions are unlivable in even for a mage.”
Comment(s) on Templars:
(very faintly bitter) “They say mages are dangerous. Are they any better?”
(shocked) “They dragged this poor girl all the way here...”
When looking for something:
"What's that? Inquisitor, moment have a look around?"
"I think taking a closer look might get us something interesting."
When finding a campsite:
“This should do. What do you think?”
“It’s getting late. How about setting up camp?”
“My feet would appreciate some rest. Shall we set up camp?”
"If we make camp now, I might be able to finish that translation I was working on."
When the Inquisitor Falls:
“Inquisitor! Hold on!”
“Cover the Inquisitor!"
If he is friends with a non-elvhen Inquisitor:
"Stay with us, my friend!"
If he is friends with an elvhen Inquisitor:
"Rem syla, lethallin/lethallan!" (Hold on to life, my friend)
If he is in a romance with the Inquisitor:
"Ma vhenan! No!"
(frantic) "Stay awake! Stay awake!"
When they are low on health:
"I need help!"
(groaned) "Mythal las'halani." (Mythal, grant [me] help)
(whimper) "Falon'Din ulielas'el." (Falon'Din, have mercy)
(weak, disjointed) "Falon'Din, Lethanavir..." (beginning of a prayer for the dead to Falon'Din. The full translated prayer can be found here)
When they see a Dragon:
(quietly, in awe) "Mythal ulielas'el!"
"The dragons are just coming back, do we really have to... of course we have to."
When during their small side quest:
"Do we have a moment to take a closer look at this?"
(in quiet awe) "Look at these colors! The symbology! Just one minute, please!"
"I'm so close to figuring out the meaning of these symbols, I just need one more quick look."
Default saying (when you want to talk to them in Skyhold, how do they respond?):
"Hello, Inquisitor."
"Anything I can help with?"
"How are things going?"
"Inquisitor! How are you?"
If the Inquisitor is an elf:
"Aneth ara, amae'len." (Hello, fellow elf [one-who-i-recognize]. It's not a cheeky thing, it's just that lethallin/lethallan/lethallen seems to be reserved for friends and I wanted something similar but more geared towards acquanitances of coworkers)
When greeting a low-approval Inquisitor:
"One moment, please."
(polite, formal) "To what do I owe this visit?"
(hesitant) "I'm afraid I'm a bit busy..."
(undercurrent of fear or annoyance) "Something the matter?"
When greeting a friend:
"Hello, my friend."
(genuine) "It's good to see you."
(happy) "You found time to come by! How good."
If the Inquisitor is an elf:
(warmly) "Creators watch your path, lethallin/lethallan/lethallen."
If he is in a romance with the Inquisitor:
(softly) "Nehn'alas, ma vhenan." (You bring joy, my heart)
(happy) "Ma'latha. I missed you."
(cheeky) "Looking for me, vhenan?"
Travel Banter with Canon Companions of your choice:
Marelas: "Cassandra, I had a... well, actually, nevermind."
Cassandra: "What is it?"
Marelas: "I had a question, but I realize it's... highly likely to be insensitive. Apologies."
Cassandra: "I'm in a good mood. What was it about?"
Marelas: "Well... You believe the Maker has abandoned this world, yes?"
Cassandra: "You wish to know how we believe in an absent god? I thought your gods were absent as well."
Marelas: "They were banished. There is a difference between being forced to leave and leaving voluntarily."
Cassandra: "That we can agree on. But it's not true that the Maker abandoned us entirely. He still hears our prayers. He may grant you His favor."
Marelas: "You, individually?"
Cassandra: "Yes, like He did with Andraste, speaking in very general terms. Do your gods not prefer some individuals over others?"
Marelas: (Brief pause) "Individuals may prefer or fear one of the Creators over the other. But the Creators as a whole guide the People as a whole, as well as the individual people who make them up."
Cassandra: "And what if two elves are opposed to one another? Or two factions of your people?"
Marelas: (not quite sure where this is going) "Then one is in the wrong and one is in the right, although those two usually tend to blend and mix."
Cassandra: "Your Creators do not choose sides and show one greater favor?"
Marelas: "That depends what either side is fighting for."
Cassandra: "But one was right and one was wrong!"
Marelas: "As I said, those two tend to blend very heavily. And to state that the Creators are interested in right or wrong is not entirely true. It is... more complicated than that."
Friendship?: (what they call the PC if they are friends or the dialog)
"When I first arrived in Haven I had little hopes of finding a friendly face in the Inquisition. Thank you for taking me in. Thank you for trusting me. I am honored to call you my friend."
Leaving the Inquisition (what do they say or do if the approval is low enough for them to leave?):
Before they leave, Marelas will confront the Inquisitor, express his wish to leave and ask them if they will allow him to take his notes with him. Depending on the direction the conversation takes, there are several possible outcomes:
1) The Inquisitor doesn’t allow Marelas to take his research notes and convinces him to stay to keep an eye on how they are used. Marelas agrees, albeit reluctantly.
2) The Inquisitor allows Marelas to leave with his research notes. They part on more or less amiable terms.
3) The Inquisitor doesn’t allow Marelas to leave with his research OR doesn’t allow Marelas to leave at all. In this case, Marelas waits until the Inquisitor leaves, then packs as much of his research as he can carry and makes a run for it. The Inquisitor decides if they let him go or try to follow him. If they try to follow him, they will enter combat. The Inquisitor will defeat Marelas, and will have the opportunity to submit him to judgement. As a result of the judgement, the Inquisitor may a) execute him, b) imprison him, c) make him tranquil and have him work for the Inquisition or d) release him without his research notes.
If Marelas is executed or made tranquil, Hawen’s clan in the Exalted Plains disappears and the Inquisitor is unable to access Din’an Hanin if the area has remained unexplored.
If Marelas has been imprisoned, his Keeper will ask the Inquisitor to release Marelas to them in a war table mission. Josephine suggests asking the Dalish for something of value in return. Leliana advises to keep Marelas as leverage. Cullen argues that entering a potential conflict with the Dalish over one elf is not worth their time or resources and suggests to return Marelas without further conditions. Taking Josephine's route will garner the Inquisition a new and unique rune. Clan Elnora's Keeper states: "We value our knowledge, but one of the People will always take precedent. I trust this sharing of knowledge will keep our relationship amiable." This route will, however, also incur in a loss of approval with Haven's clan. The rewards for Cullen's route are the same as the one for Josephine's, but without the drawbacks. If Leliana's option is taken, a small group of Dalish elves will infiltrate Skyhold to try and free Marelas, and manage to escape with him. Clan Elnora denies any knowledge of the plan and Leliana's spies confirm that the group wasn't traveling back to clan Elnora. Leliana suspects this may be a smoke screen, but without further proof, the Inquisition's hands are tied.
If Marelas is made tranquil, a similar war table mission will be available. Josephine and Leliana will counsel the same approach. Cullen however will deem it too dangerous to give a Dalish clan access to a powerful enchanter and suggest placing Marelas under watch. If Josephine's route is chosen, the Inquisitor receives a powerful mage armor. The clan had made it for Marelas, to take on when he returned, but now he will never get to wear it. If Leliana's or Cullen's options are taken, a small group of Dalish elves tries to free Marelas, but fails. Both Marelas and the would-be liberators die in the ensuing scuffle.

What's Ben's ideal partner like? Does he enjoy PDA? If he could pick a place to spend the rest of his life, what would the place be like?
(1). “Ideal partner? I can’t say I can quite pinpoint what I want in a prospective partner- Of course, someone who is kind, considerate, patient. Someone whose personality balances out and harmonizes with my own, I suppose, since I imagine, we would be spending a lot of time together--”
(2). “Public Displays of Affection? Hmmm, well, yes and no. I am always equipped to receive a hug, but if it isn’t the most appropriate time-- A hug in the midst of a battle, I can’t even imagine how difficult that’d prove for both who is to be hug and who wants to give one.”
(3). “I envision that place to be somewhere along a mountainside partially surrounded by trees and partially open space where someone would be free to rest without woe or risk of violence. Maybe plant a couple flowers... a fruit tree.”
It’s pretty obvious Ben is meant to be a pretty simple-minded country boy, honestly.

sorry for reblogging it! i always took it as “if you like a character but grow out of a fandom, you can repurpose the character.” but also if you have xkit, you can block a specific post!
nah nah, youre fine with reblogging it! like you said, you view it differently than i do!
i just whine about it sometimes because when i look in the notes i feel like i almost always tend to come across the notes that act like the oc will become better if its not a fan one anymore
ive just been through a lot of the ‘fan ocs are never as good as other ocs’ talking on websites i used to go on and it would get to me because i treat my fan ocs as equally as i do my other ones

☮ ☆ ☾ - Ricci & Dorian!
☮ - friendship headcanon
Ricci: ALWAYS puts themselves before anyone else…like even if they dont know them well…however with friends they get a joy out of helping them, grateful for any gratitude. with things like healing strangers or people they dont know well, they do it simply because they have to
ricci seems like a hardcore introvert but they actually do value attention and affection above all else
Dorian: he just.. tries his best to prove himself useful and on an equal level to his friends, if not that someone they can respect. a lot of the other kids probably make fun of him a lot tbh?? but hes very good with a bow so even if he gets called immature most people have reason to be impressed with him
☆ - happy headcanon
Ricci: wont shut up about it, typically theyre happiest when it comes to someone else either giving them a gift, praising them, or simply hanging out with them. They make sure to let the other person know they value their time and that they feel at ease with someone else! if it comes to something they did on their own, like an accomplishment, they try to ease it into conversation by asking someone else about how theyre feeling first
Dorian: this boy will be very affectionate, well if its around people he’s close with anyway. when hes happy or excited it shows because he’ll be a little antsy or fidget slightly. he’ll let someone know too ESPECIALLY if he recieves praise….
☾ - sleep headcanon
Ricci: has a lot of sleep problems, finds it really hard to fall asleep and tends to wake up in the night at least once. sometimes it gets to be so bad they get up and try to find something else to get them tired. books never work for them because they get so into them it keeps them awake, especially since they prefer informational books and learning tidbits of things like biology or history
Dorian: sleeps like an angel, or a rock. hardly turns in his sleep or rolls over, probably has to be woken up by having his shoulder shaken and loudly going “DORIAN WAKE UP”…he’s never grumpy in the mornings tho he will try to pull the person into bed with him and go back to sleep if he knows them well enough

Inquisitor as a Companion
Finally got around to finish this. It’s been in my drafts for like a year bc that’s who I am as a person I guess. Anyway, I used the template by @dextronoms for it and had a lot of fun!!!
Inquisitor’s Name: Sasha Lavellan
Alternate Name: Sasha Samahl
Race, Class, & Specialization: Dalish elf, rogue, tempest
Varric’s Nickname for them: Cowlick
Default Tarot Card: 2 of Swords (avoidance, distrust, a closed off heart)
How they are recruited: Sasha will show up at Haven shortly after the establishment of the Inquisition, saying he has been sent by the Keeper of clan Samahl as a messenger of the clan. Accepting him makes him a new member of the Inquisition and a companion. Rejecting him removes him permanently from being a companion, but he remains at Haven and can still be talked to in Haven and Skyhold, as an agent of Leliana.
Where they are in Skyhold: At the Herald’s Rest, near the bar.
Things they Generally Approve of: Showing respect and support for the dalish and mages, flirting with him, witty replies, helping farmers and poorer people.
Things they Generally Disapprove of: Reckless, agressive decisions and unnecessary violence, insulting or belittling elven culture. Helping nobles, especially Orlesians. He disapproves of human Inquisitors using their name and title in many occasions.
Mages, Templars, Other?: If fuck the Chantry is an alignment, it’s Sasha’s, but as long as the Inquisitor shows the will to help the dalish there will be no significant changes of approval regarding decisions concerning the Chantry. Sasha understands the plight of Templars even if they are obviously in a position of power against the mages, just as he understands that mages are oppressed and abused systematically.
Friends in the Inquisition: Sasha gets along with everyone, but mostly with the advisors, especially with Cullen (if the PC doesn’t romance him or Cullen it is implied in banter that they start a relationship after the events of Halamshiral. This doesn’t happen if Cullen still takes the lyrium). He seems to be quite promiscuous, and banter between other companions reveals that he is fond of one night stands and of flirting with people of all genders.
It is implied that he has physical affairs with Bull, Dorian and even can be found flirting with Dagna (who humorously refuses his advances) at some point. At first he and Solas seem to hate each other, but as the story progresses, depending on the decisions the player makes, they establish a solid friendship.
Varric seems to worry for Sasha in a fatherly way because he’s one of the youngest members in the Inquisition, although he denies it. Sasha enjoys teasing him about it, but seems to feel genuine affection for Varric.
He sees Vivienne as a mother figure, and they become good friends after Halamshiral-taking them both with you during Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts triggers banther between them criticizing the fashion choices of people at the Winter Palace, the décor and the food, and they will exchange pleasantries and gossip from that point on when taking on quests together.
Sasha is friendly towards Sera, but through banter it is explained that he tried to hit on her without knowing her sexual orientation and Sera takes pleasure in teasing him endlessly about it. In Trespasser, Sasha admits to seeing Sera as a little sister-a weird gay little sister who put a spider inside his boot.
Romanceable: Sasha can be romanced by PCs of any race and gender. The Inquisitor can chose to have a merely physical relationship with him, which doesn’t hinder the possibility to pursue a serious romance with other characters although it will automatically end the relationship with him, or a committed relationship. He is available for a ties-free tumble at Haven and if you’re freaky you can get a slightly explicit cutscene, as many times as you want. His romance can only be locked after his companion quest is completed.
Small side mission: Mementos (the quest consists on finding five different dalish toys –a wooden halla, a toy soldier, etc.- and is triggered by finding either of them at any point of the game as long as his main companion quest has been completed. Once the Inquisitor has gathered all the objects, he can talk to Sasha in Skyhold, and he will thank them for finding those, and will tell the Inquisitor about his late parents and his childhood in the clan.)
Small side mission: Elfroot Allergy (talking to Sasha triggers a conversation about him being allergic to elfroot, hence unable to take normal potions-even though in game he can take regular potions without trouble-. The Inquisitor can then find an alternative recipe for a more potent health potion in the library after using the radar. The potion requires a couple of uncommon ingredients that can be bought in the dalish camp in the Exalted Planes. You can then craft a Potent Health Potion that can be used by all your party. Completing the quest adds new dialogue options and party comments about Sasha’s elfroot allergy.
Companion quest: Innocence
The quest becomes available after the destruction of Haven, when Leliana approaches the Inquisitor announcing that the correspondence with clan Samahl has revealed that they did not send any messengers to the Inquisition before they were contacted, and urges them to talk to Sasha about it.
Sasha can be found at the tavern, and approaching him will trigger a scene of him drinking and staring at the fireplace, lost in thought. When asked what he is thinking about, or confronted directly about the letters, Sasha first tries to brush it off with a joke and then, when pressured, confesses the truth about himself.
Sasha speaks of a well-known nobleman from Tevinter residing in Ostwick, Jorund, whom he met when he was a child in the Free Marches, when his clan was travelling through the man’s property. He explains that in order to get the nobleman’s permission to cross his land, he had asked for a tribute-the tribute being two teen dalish elves to serve him. Sasha was one of them-but the other one, Sol, escaped before the year ended, stealing money and other property, and Jorund, furious, threw the clan out of his land. A few months before the Conclave, the young dalish woman returned to her clan, and Jorund, who lives in Redcliffe now, is threatening to attack them if they don’t return the servant to him.
Sasha reveals that he joined the Inquisition in the hopes of hiding from Jorund and if possible finding a way to keep him from harassing the clan any further.
Sasha asks the Inquisitor to go with him to Redcliffe and see Jorund.
Upon arriving and speaking to Jorund, Sasha immediately offers to stay instead of the dalish girl at Jorund’s service, and the Inquisitor has the following options:
-Return Sasha to Jorund, which removes him permanently from the game.
-Demand that Sol returns to Jorund, which grants great disapproval from Sasha.
-Attack or intimidate Jorund into leaving Sasha, Sol and their clan alone. Either option ends with a fight against Jorund and his men, and culminates with a great approval gain from Sasha.
If Jorund is killed, Sasha approaches the Inquisitor in Skyhold later to thank them for their help. The right conversation choices will reveal that it was Jorund who scarred Sasha, hitting him with a bottle in the face when he was drunk, and that that he actually helped Sol to escape. He implies to have suffered abuse at the hands of the Tevinter noble, and explains that after that it took him a lot of courage and trust to learn to trust people (including his clan) again, but that thanks to the Inquisitor’s help he feels safe for the first time since he was a teenager.
The Inquisitor is offered the option then to start a romance with Sasha if they pursue the conversation, or to do it later in another conversation. Whether the Inquisitor accepted Sasha’s offer in Haven to have sex or not doesn’t change the romance, but adds new dialogue in which Sasha voices concern about the Inquisitor perhaps thinking he just loves them physically-the Inquisitor may then reassure them and have sex with him, or tell him there is no need to rush things and not have sex with him. Either way, Sasha and the Inquisitor share a kiss and the romance is locked.
Tarot card change
Option 1: Sasha returned to Jorund/Low approval-Nine of Swords (regret, anxiety, guilt, pain)
Option 2: Romanced-Queen of Swords (directness, honesty, drawing positive outcomes from experience and being open to learning)
BANTER
Cole’s reflection on their thoughts:
“Never look back, never turn around. The stab hurts him less if he can’t see it coming. I can’t forget the burn of broken glass, it’s still there, under the skin.”
[after personal quest] “Small hands grasping in the dark, trembling, his voice is loud as thunder, loud enough to hurt like his hands do. But it is over. It is finally over.”/ [if Sol is returned to Jorund, low approval] “Small hands grasping in the dark, trembling, his voice is loud as thunder, loud enough to hurt like his hands do. Don’t let go, don’t let him, don’t touch me. I failed her, I failed all of them.”
[if romanced] “Rough fingers on soft skin, low voices, sweat and perfume and muted laughter, the taste of wine and their lips, always there, always in mind. I am safe. I am home.”/ “Loud, but not too loud, pain that doesn’t hurt. Stars behind my eyes, it’s like fever, but I never want it cured. So, hot, so much, so good. Please, never stop.”
Comment(s) on Mages: “That electricity thing mages do… it sounds like a lot of fun.”/ “You know, I got magic fingers too.”
Comment(s) on Templars: “Ah, yes, big angry shems in armor. My favourite thing ever.”
When looking for something: “Shall we take a look?”
When finding a campsite: “So… camp?”/ “Elgarn’an, my feet are killing me!”
When the Inquisitor Falls: “This is really not the time for a nap!”
[if romanced] “Vhenan!” “I will not forgive you for this!”
When they are low on Health: “Creators, can’t we just talk about this?!” “[panting] I am… perfectly… fine!”
When they see a Dragon: “No. Just… no.”
When during their small side quest: “Oh, I used to have one of those!”
Default saying:
-High approval: “Hello, you.” “You know, if we keep meeting like this, people will talk.”
-Neutral: “Inquisitor.” “May I help you?”
-Low approval: “Yes?”
-Romanced: “I’m all ears, ma vhenan. [snicker] Get it? All ears.” “You are always a sight for sore eyes.”
Travel Banter with Canon Companions of your choice:
Varric: So, Cowlick.
Sasha: *sighs* Really, Varric. Cowlick? Out of all the nicknames you could’ve picked?
Varric: Have you ever seen yourself after you wake up kid?
Inquisitor: *chuckle* He does have a point.
Sasha: I am never sleeping again.
--
Varric: What is this I heard about you and Curly?
Sasha: Excuse me?
Varric: You know what I’m talking about, Cowlick.
Varric: A birdie told me you made the Commander… roar… on the war table.
Cassandra [if in the party]: … I really did not need to know that.
Sasha: *sighs* How do you even find out about this stuff?
--
Dorian: *huff* I hate long horse rides. It’s so hard to walk normally afterwards.
Sasha: *snicker* I know of something you can ride that will leave you walking weird.
Dorian: *laughs*
---
Dorian: So I heard you tried to hit on Sera.
Sasha: *sigh* How do you people keep finding out about these things?
Dorian: Maybe because you keep barking at the wrong tree, my friend.
--
Cassandra: I hate those Orlesian balls. Those nobles can’t keep their bloody hands to themselves.
Dorian: There always seems to be an awful lot of groping going on in those balls, doesn’t it?
Sasha: *snickers* Groping balls.
Bonus: Sasha is voiced by Santiago Cabrera.

Inquisitor as a Companion: Ellinor Trevelyan
(template via dextronoms)
Inquisitor’s name: Ellinor Trevelyan
Alternate name: She offers only her surname Trevelyan upon meeting her. With the Inquisition perk Nobility Knowledge, the Inquisitor can unlock the dialogue, “Trevelyan...as in the noble house Trevelyan of Ostwick?” She will immediately dismiss this comment but neither confirm not deny it. Later, upon achieving “warm” approval level, she will acknowledge that she is the daughter of Bann Jaime Trevelyan but no longer associates with her family. Only if the Inquisitor achieves “friendly” approval will she reveal and allow them to call her by her first name, Ellinor.
Race, class, and specialization: human, dual-wield rogue, assassin
Varric’s nickname for them: swift (for how she’s quick with a knife)
Default tarot card: Knight of Wands, symbolizing energy, passion, inspired action, adventure, and impulsiveness
How they are recruited: Ellinor is found in the Storm Coast along the water. Upon approaching the area, the game enters a cutscene in which a woman dressed in an elegant but otherwise muddied and soaking wet traveling dress interrogates two rogue templars on the whereabouts of an unnamed apostate. She describes a young man with tan skin, dark straight hair, high cheekbones, and brown almond-shaped eyes all while the camera pans around her so the player can see the features she describes are also features she embodies. One of the templars makes a snide remark: “Can’t say I’ve seen ‘im, but I don’t mind what I’m looking at right now.” Ellinor promptly pulls two long daggers from behind her back, making quick work of ducking, dodging, and slashing at the two large, slow templars. As she wipes the blood from her face, she notices the Inquisitor and their party approach and sarcastically thanks them for their “timely assistance.” The Inquisitor can then ask her about the apostate she’s looking for, and she reveals that she’s been searching for her twin brother, Avery, a mage formerly of a Circle in the Free Marches. She explains that her travels have led her to Ferelden, and she has reason to believe he’s nearby. The Inquisitor can then select one of two dialogue options. Choosing The Inquisition may have the resources you need to find him, if you’re willing to help our cause in return. will recruit Ellinor. Choosing I see. Best of luck. will not recruit Ellinor.
Where they are in Skyhold: Ellinor can be found standing along the wall in the main hall of Skyhold. Before Skyhold has the necessary renovations, she will either sharpen her knives or read through a journal until spoken to by the Inquisitor. Upon renovating the main hall, she will lean against the wall, eavesdropping on the nobility that stand near the dais. If interacted with, she opens the discussion by saying, “Nobles leak a lot of secrets, if you can stand listening to them babble for long enough.”
Things they generally approve of: Generally any pro-mage actions. Ellinor is also in favor of swift and often knee-jerk acts of justice. A harsh critic herself, she will have respect for an Inquisitor who makes confident, borderline unforgiving choices. Of the main quest judgements, Ellinor will greatly approve of executing either Gereon Alexius or Knight-Captain Denam. Although of noble background herself, she will approve of most dialogue options that are humiliating or negative toward nobility; for example, she greatly approves of sentencing Florianne to farm work and even slightly approves of sentencing her to be the Inquisition’s court jester. She will also approve of a rogue inquisitor selecting the Assassin or Tempest specializations.
Things they generally disapprove of: Any pro-templar actions. As such, she also disapproves if a warrior Inquisitor chooses the Templar specialization. She will disapprove if Alexius is made to work with the mages or with the Inquisition (upon being spoken to after the judgement, she will frustratedly say that Fiona’s mages and/or the Inquisition’s mages deserve better than a Venatori magister), and she greatly disapproves if Knight-Captain Denam is conscripted to the Inquisition. Generally, she will have little respect for an Inquisitor she finds naive or too forgiving.
Mages, templars, other? Due to her personal experience with mages and templars--her twin brother being taken to the Circle by her elder sister, a templar, she is staunchly pro-mage. She has no patience for templars, and shortly after recruitment, the player will experience a cutscene in which she and Cullen are caught in a heated argument in Haven (this cutscene is skipped if she is recruited after reaching Skyhold). Her opinions on the Circles and Templars are less severe if the Inquisitor has a positive relation with Vivienne and Cullen, respectively. If her personal quest is completed with Avery safe, she will have a positive stance toward a reformed Circle governed by mages.
Friends in the Inquisition: She is good friends with Dorian, Sera, and Leliana. She is cordial with Josephine as well as Vivienne, although she is more warm toward Vivienne if the Inquisitor has a friendly relationship with Vivienne and if Ellinor’s personal quest is completed with Avery safe. She dislikes Cassandra. She despises Cullen upon her being recruited, although after the player completes Cullen’s Perseverance quest (choosing not to make him take lyrium), she will be softer toward him.
Romanceable?: Ellinor can be romanced by Inquisitors of any race and any gender. Flirt dialogue options are present in dialogue shortly after recruiting her, although she will be put off if these options are selected before the Inquisitor has gained enough approval with her. When a “warm” approval level is reached, she will be visibly flustered (but flattered) at any flirtatious dialogue, and although she will still dismiss or not reciprocate flirting, the player will get slight approval for the first successful flirt option. When a “friendly” approval level is reached, Ellinor will be openly receptive to flirtatious dialogue, but she will not strongly reciprocate before her personal quest is complete, saying, conflicted, “I came to Ferelden to look for my brother, and that’s still what I’m here to do. If things were different…” Upon speaking with her after completing her personal quest (with Avery safe), she will thank the Inquisitor for their help, saying she never would have dreamed of receiving such support in her journey to find him and will thank them tearfully. The Inquisitor can choose the relationship dialogue Of course. I love you. and although she freezes first, as though in shock, she will then kiss the Inquisitor softly. The kiss deepens, and the scene fades to black. The next time the Inquisitor speaks to her, she will reciprocate warmly if romantic dialogue is chosen.
If Ellinor is not romanced, she will not explicitly be paired with any other character; however, she will speak more softly of Cullen (post-Perseverance, if he is not made to take lyrium again). If the Inquisitor selects the dialogue I thought you hated Cullen. she will swiftly brush them off, clearly flustered and red-faced. No other romantic implications are made.
Small side mission: “Stealing Plans.” Ellinor learns that her elder sister, Knight-Captain Bryony Trevelyan of the Red Templars, is in the Western Approach. She believes Bryony’s personal journals and letters, kept in various Red Templar camps, will contain the information she needs to narrow down Avery’s possible location. The Inquisition engages in a fetch-style quest in which they must retrieve journals from three separate Red Templar camps. At the final camp, the Inquisitor will encounter minor boss enemy Knight-Captain Bryony and has no choice but to defeat her.
If Ellinor is in the party, when Bryony’s health is depleted, it will cut to a brief scene in which Ellinor deals the killing blow. Upon speaking to her, after, she will not wish to discuss her sister at all (or for that matter, ever again).
If Ellinor is not in the party, upon returning the journals to her, she thanks the Inquisitor and asks if they encountered her sister. The Inquisitor can lie (No, I didn’t see her.), to which Ellinor comments with determination that “she’s still out there, then.” The Inquisitor can consequently tell the truth (Yes. She’s no longer a problem.), but Ellinor will reply irritably that she wishes she’d been the one to do it.
Regardless, the Inquisitor will gain approval when the quest is complete.
Companion quest: “Quite a Pair.” Ellinor has determined that Avery has been on the run in Ferelden, as she suspected, but is now captive in a Red Templar stronghold in the Bannorn (at a unique standalone map location). The Inquisitor, Ellinor, and the rest of the chosen party travel to the stronghold and battle through groups of Red Templars until they reach an upper tower to find Avery Trevelyan battling a Knight-Captain. In a cutscene, the fighting pauses, as whoever the Inquisitor aligns themself with with have the undeniable advantage. The Knight-Captain offers the Inquisitor invaluable information, promising to betray their broken Order and reveal intelligence on the Red Templars’ movements, locations, and even Corypheus’s plans in exchange for letting him finish off Avery. Ellinor will passionately and emotionally advocate for Avery instead, telling the Inquisitor that the Knight-Captain lies, and that even if he were telling the truth, the Inquisitor cannot choose information over the life of her brother.
Option 1: The Inquisitor chooses to restrain Ellinor in exchange for the information (which unlocks a war table mission to gather more intelligence on Red Templars). She screams in agony as the Knight Captain kills Avery. Afterward, she breaks away and attacks the Inquisitor, who must kill her.
Option 2: The Inquisitor chooses to help Ellinor and Avery. They battle the Knight-Captain and are rewarded with a unique weapon that can be looted from his body. When the battle has ended, a cutscene ensues. Ellinor will run to Avery and meet him in a tearful embrace. He will ask how she found him, and she’ll explain that she’s been looking for years, and that it was the Inquisitor who helped her finally reach him. After the cutscene, Avery will heal the party and is recruited as an agent to the Inquisition. Upon speaking to Ellinor back at Skyhold, the player will see a cutscene in the tavern as Ellinor and Avery talk and laugh together along with other members of the inner circle. Seeing the Inquisitor, she will kindly excuse herself from the merriment to thank them properly for reuniting her with him.
Tarot change option 1: Three of Swords (representing heartbreak, emotional grief, sorrow, pain, and hurt)
Tarot change option 2: Nine of Cups (representing contentment, satisfaction, gratitude, and wishes come true)
