I love headcannon that depict Moon and Pearl not getting along. Moon being the instigator of the conflicts. I see poor Pearl babysitting young Moon. Such as taking away her poisons when she being reckless/curious. Or reading her science books at nap time, In which Pearl's mind starts to spin. I can see Dia more as a peace maker between the two. Giving advice to Pearl when Moon is acting up, while Dia can talk it out to Moon when Pearl is being too strict.

Another idea I have is that Moon doesn't understand Dia and Pearl's jokes. She asks too much question and talk about how the joke doesn't make sense in a practical way.

Furthermore, I feel that in Moon's mind she see's both Pearl and Dia within Sun. For Pearl it's his determination, battle skill, and will to get 100,000,000 yen or get a package unharmed. As for Dia, it's his carefree and being empathetic for others such as Tapu Bulu for people building on its sacred land and Kiawe for his struggles to eventually go abroad.

I apologize for the long headcannon, but I really love the topic. I really want to share out my thoughts on Moon interactions with Pearl and Dia.

I love the idea of Pearl and Moon constantly snarking on each other, especially for what we were shown about them. Pearl constantly feels responsible for the others and Moon has always been too mature for her age, so they'll constantly butt heads for who's in command, but in the end they love each other and they'll help where the other has problems.

And as for Dia, he's just too caring and lovable for Moon to make fun of, so I can totally see both her and Pearl going to him for advice on the other when they have a particularly bad fight.

The idea of Moon seeing both of them in Sun is pretty interesting, I hadn't really thought about it, but it does make a lot of sense. Kinda the situation where she can't bother with him at first, but as they're forced to stay together she realizes that "Oh, he's just like them." and finally softens up to him and maybe she realizes she's just like Platinum too.

please, always feel free to send me headcanons like this, it's always fun to read them, especially if they're about the Dexholders who never met and how they would interact.

Pokespe Dexholders and what I think of their names:

Red: No complaints here. But I do have to remind myself that he’s a different person than the nonverbal game Red.

Blue/Green (m): Solid name right there.

Blue/Green (f): Also a good name.

Yellow: I like it!

Gold: It works to distinguish him from Ethan, so that’s good.

Silver: Good name.

Crystal/Crys: Our first name that is ACTUALLY a remotely normal sounding name in the English language. Good for her.

Ruby: Honestly, I first thought that this character would be May’s manga counterpart. But no. Turns out Ruby is Brendan’s manga counterpart.

Sapphire: The actual manga counterpart of May.

Emerald: We are now getting into the “why would someone name their child that” territory.

Diamond/Dia: At least he has a nickname.

Pearl: What is so wrong with the name “Barry?”

Platinum Berlitz: I hate this name. Who would look at their daughter and decide “Platinum” is a good name? If you ask me, she’s the one who should have been named Pearl. If I had my way, the Sinnoh Dexholders would be named Diamond (Lucas), Pearl (Dawn), and Barry.

Black: This could have been his last name, but no.

White: Again, this is better suited as a surname than a given name.

Blake: Well at least this one is an actual first name.

Whitley: I sometimes confuse this one for Whitney, but it’s okay.

X: Very mysterious. I like it.

Y (Yvonne Gabena): Not bad.

Sun: Neutral on this one.

Moon: This one’s also okay.

Henry Sword: I like his Japanese name better (Soudo).

Casey Shield: I like the name “Schilly” better, but I cannot remember her full Japanese name.

Scarlet Koito: Not much of an opinion. But at least she has a full name.

Violet Lang: Same situation as Ruby.

So, it's a bit late in the day but it's still April 4th, so I'm still on time for Diamond's birthday. This precious child is adorable and he's one of my favorite characters in all of PokéSpe! He's funny, and he acts a bit dumb, but it's all an act, he's way more perceptive than he let's on, and I love that, it's so good! He is associated with Mesprit because of his emotional intelligence, and that final battle where he "died" was so shocking to me the first time I read it when I was younger, that I threw the book across the room in a fit of rage, because I thought he was dead...only to go right back and pick up where I left off after I threw it because I had to see what happened and I had a feeling that he wouldn't stay dead because it's Pokémon...I mean, look what they did in the Ruby and Sapphire arc...and those weren't even the main protagonists of that arc! I'm glad I figured that out and kept reading because I was so happy to find out he was alive, because I love him so much! He's the boke of the comedy duo, making him funny by default, and his obsession with Proteam Omega is so relatable, because that's how I am with Pokémon...maybe even moreso 😅

Happy birthday to the Empathizer (Dia's Dexholder title) who, together with his friends, are the perfect trio! (and yes, that's canon, Cyrus literally said the human heart is incomplete, but when Dia, Pearl, and Platinum work together it becomes complete...if that doesn't scream perfect trio, I don't know what does...and nothing can change my mind about them being a perfect trio, I will die on that hill!)

ok i haven't finished the ruby sapphire and the fr lf emerald arc BUt i can rank my favs in terms of writing and character. 1. DPPT. its so good and genuine. i loved how character centric it was to the three, the silly bonding and friendship and how much they grew to rely on each other. the archetypes is sooo good and they take the time to get out the character's traits and quirks. i don't feel a hint of inconsistency tbh. all the trainers start off with little pokemon for the majority but eventually build their team and its rlly nicely drawn out. And then when the big conflict looms it LOOMS. dia pearl and platina are so good. Lady and her two bodyguards :]. 2. BW. im not including bw2 in this specifically cause it didn't get out to me AS much. altogether its a nice wrapup. I adore Black's entire character and White was such a compelling mc. N's enterance in this is SOOO good like yeah i rlly wish they emphasized some parts. but they did good on him!!!! BW2 i have trouble getting as connected to the characters but i also get they needed mcs to be the vessel and continue bw's entire finale. i did enjoy them nevertheless Whi-two is my daughter. Lack-two is interesting and i would love to see him more in missions. i feel like he rlly shines when he's taken aback or slightly confused by interactions (he doesn't understand emotions! its rlly neat how they put him there and its just. how he is. nothing rlly to change but its fun to see him interact with others). 3. S&M. my god. all that in 30-40 chapters. considerably shorter than rlly past arcs but MAN it feels longer. lillie's arc is rlly rlly nice. FABA was such a twist that i gasped. I enjoyed the battles and the general vibes of the ultra beasts arc. I enjoyed Sun's entire motivation for getting 10 million yen, because it made a lot of sense after a bit. Moon is literally me (poison type lover). Guzma's scenes are rlly nice to me, and the pacing felt rlly laid out to what was given for them. Overall a good 7.8/10 i was enjoying that!!!!! (i was secretly hoping for battle tree cameo so i could see red and blue again because i missed them sm but i know its unlikely because they're more dexholders than gameverse's champion and viridian gym leader but a guy can dream. i miss them. i miss Yellow actually where is he.)

Why would you do this to them? Why would you make them fight? They don’t deserve this.

Anyway, Dia is unkillable. The only question is whether or not he wants to win more than Pearl. If Dia absolutely wants to win, he can outlast Pearl and get him with emotional gut-punches. Anything less than that and he’ll surrender sooner or later, Pearl is associated with willpower, after all, and Dia’s pretty mellow.

Beware that I'll focus more on the Pokédex part than everything else. He literally used the same intelligence used to study the lake trio, Dialga and Palkia and to create the bomb to study an object he saw once, maybe twice.

Super cool reference to the other Dexholders.

And to the chaos they bring on their path. Wasn't the plot of FRLG literally based on this?

"I didn't know how amazing my Pokédex was" do you understand what I mean when I say Dia and Pearl didn't care about the battling world? How special they are as Dexholders?

Fuck, they really look in pain.

I love this moment. I love how they used the sound as a subtle plot point since the very beginning of the arc, and now it's making its appearance at full force.

The baby evolved!

Gently reminder that evolutionary items have an effect in battle too. They showed it with Lickilicky too, but here it's more evident.

The fact that he still worries about Platinum getting kidnapped despite knowing full well at this point that they just wanted her money for the bomb.

Another "revelry in the dark" moment. To find the path to the soul Pokémon by using your heart rather than your eyes.

Just Pokespe thoughts

- Since Gold is an avid gambler, Goldenrod has casinos and arcades, and Ruby used to live in Goldenrod, I’d bet those two have met before the Emerald arc

- Same goes for Yellow and Silver, except that they straight up LIVED in the same city, and Yellow is old enough that she could’ve met Silver before he was kidnapped 

 - Did X’s hair just not grow during those years he spent in his room? Did he cut it himself? Or (my personal favorite) did Y force her way in to give him a haircut?

- It’s pretty agreed that Moon was taken in by the Berlitz’s and sees Platinum as a big sister, but what’s her relationship with Dia and Pearl like? Maybe true to her title, the Mixer, she likes to help Dia with cooking!

- Since it’s confirmed there was supposed to be a third version of X&Y, who would’ve been the dexholder for it? Kusaka could’ve made a third character, yes, but it’s just as likely Trevor could’ve been a dexholder: he has the third starter, green clothing (for Zygarde), and it would’ve been easy to explain since he’s a scientist (that or it would’ve been another Wally/Emerald fake-out, who knows!)

- The manga did not really go into the ramifications of Black being stuck in the light ball for 2 YEARS. Was he conscious the whole time? What about his pokemon? How long did it take for him to catch up on what he missed in that time? So many questions… 

 - I like that Crystal and Emerald kinda mirror each other. Both needed pokemon to help them in times where they couldn’t do stuff themselves, but while Emerald ended up avoiding and hating pokemon, Crystal befriended the ones that helped her, even the very pokemon that injured her

 - Why do the SwSh dexholders have last names? Usually the only ones with last names are related to professors (Green, Sapphire) or to other famous people (Platinum, Y). Wonder if that’s gonna be a plot point… 

 - I’m overall happy that the games are giving npcs more personality, but it does hurt the manga in a way. Kusaka is now kinda limited in the originality of his stories since he has to worry about staying true to the side character’s personalities. And it’s kinda hard to, say, make half the gym leaders part of the evil team again when they’re not blank slates anymore

Yet another drawing of Orange!

I drew this one back in August of last year, it's 11-year-old Orange heading out on his first journey (after convincing his parents to let him go and be a proper Pokémon Trainer even though they don't think it's a good idea at first) with his first four Pokémon! He's on his way to Jubilife to watch Dia and Pearl's comedy contest performance before really setting out. His Pokémon are Thunderheart the Pikachu, Chimzilla the Chimchar, Star the Starly, and Storm the shiny Shinx. He cares deeply for all of them and treats them like family, because he loves and understands Pokémon so much (hence his first Dexholder title "The Communicator), he considers them best friends as well as siblings, and wouldn't hesitate to risk his life to help a Pokémon in need (hence his other title "The Rescuer"). He listens to their voices and their wishes and makes sure to fulfill each and every Pokémon’s needs and wants. He keeps them out of their Poké Balls so they can experience the world alongside him. He trains them the way they want to be trained, making sure to always listen to their opinions on things, vowing to never ignore anything they have to say or be anything like how the bullies back in Viridian City were towards him. He just wants to be the best friend and Trainer he can be to them, because he loves and cares for them so SO much!

So anyway, I've gone on too much about Orange's love for his Poké-pals, so now on to the drawing itself...there's a bunch of white blobs on it because this is one of the ones cluttered with text, so I decided to 'white it out' as best I could...it looks really messy but it's better than a bunch of my terrible handwriting all over the place taking away from the drawing itself in my opinion. It was my first time drawing Starly so that's why it's so big compared to the other Pokémon, and Thunderheart is on Orange's shoulder because she's his emotional support/shoulder Pokémon, she's always there for him when he needs her. He's holding up a Poké Ball because he's so excited that he's a proper Pokémon Trainer now (hence the huge grin), and I tried my best to draw him in a running pose, I know it looks wonky but I tried my best...also please try to ignore the erased bits, I know there's a lot of them but drawing is hard, okay? 😅
