Devlin was ready for an argument, but hearing these words made him ease up. His hardened expressions became softer, as the words sounded like an echo of his own. Devlin himself never accepted help, having another lick his wounds clean or tell him reassuring words. To him it went against the hero ideal, that he was placed on this earth to save mortal life. But now, he heard it from someone else, a stranger- nay, not even a friend- Ilyas was simply an acquaintance. It stuck the core of heart, nonetheless.

"You and me both. I think we get the help that we think is acceptable to us. But- how did you know that you need help, Ilyas? What triggered you to... realize it?"

"Devlin?" Jasmine's voice was soft. She never had been very good at claiming attention. "I wanted to know.. Do you also teach self defense?"

There was a small get-together at Will's place, and Devlin was there along with his new friend, Delia. If he and Delia had names so similar that they could pass as siblings, then they had to be friends. But there was someone else there and it came as a pleasant surprise to him.

Jasmine.

She was that sweet girl who drove him home, even stopped to share a late night snack, and then texted him once she arrived home safe. Devlin was fond of her, how could he not be? And clearly so was Delia who loved talking about her and all the fun they have together- including baking. But he didn't think she was interested in him, and that was okay. He didn't want to impose, so he kept a respectful distance and lived his normal life. But a part of him kept thinking- what if?

Especially now, when they were in the same room. Delia went to the kitchen and Will was elsewhere. It left the two of them alone in that living room space.

He was lost in his thoughts, when she claimed his attention. Jasmine spoke so soft, he was relieved he was able to pick up on it. What she asked was unexpected, but he was nodding his head.

"I have trained in self defense, and lately I've been teaching de-escalation to prevent further altercation. A few moves that are easy and effective in making your opponent useless," he tilted his head, "why do you ask, Jasmine?"

So I saw in one of your older posts that Delvin was pregnant at some point in time before and her baby was stolen away. If some how she ever got to reunite with her child how would their relationship be? Would she try to keep in touch with them and catch up with them or not? Thanks!

As if he was hypnotized, Devlin did not move a muscle. He had just arrived from grocery shopping from the town, and placed all the produce on the counter before noticing Gemina was there in the living space. He took a seat, needing to rest for a bit, but that is when she started nuzzling him. Devlin was pleasantly surprised more than he was confused, deciding to simply enjoy the moment of her cool face against his radiating warmth.

"Hi Mina," he spoke softly, running his hands through her hair, forgetting all the tension between them and her aching distance. He leaned over slightly to leave an affectionate peck on the top of her head. She was confusing for Devlin, saying one thing and doing another- and yet he wanted to simply enjoy her company and what she can give him now.

"I know I can't move... can I speak though?"

Alyrys was curious about how he felt as a husband to her, and a father to Divya. He had just laid the babe to sleep, a tiny and attached little thing that was the sweetest girl.

You total sweetheart, you have no idea how happy it makes me to have someone ask about that fic!

The premise of the fic is that Jounouchi made it big as an idol by going viral, then signed a contract with the agency KaibaCorpProductions. The CEO Seto Kaiba doesn't get along with Jounouchi at all, but he paid him more than enough to cover Shizuka's eye operation and understands the valuable niche that Jou fills in his lineup of stars.

Ryou Bakura and Marik Ishtar are an idol duo called Millium Magic. KCP doesn't allow them to be openly queer, but they do their best to let their true selves shine through anyways, and plenty of fans see that for what it is. 😉 And yes, they're very much dating each other.

Mai Kujaku is a stylist and designer for KCP, Yugi Mutou is Jounouchi's manager, and Ryuji Otogi is his choreographer. Jounouchi's bi ass can't help having a crush on Ryuji, and when he accidentally overhears the dancer singing one of Jou's songs, he becomes even more fascinated with him. Why would he hide a talent like that, especially at an agency where that could benefit him? 🤔

After spending a day off together (the newest chapter), Jou is even more intrigued than before, and what did he mean when he implied he had already "started his hustle" by age ten? Why is he so comfortable with the English language? And should Jou go for it with this absolute dream of a hottie, or is dating a coworker in this industry just asking for trouble?

This is one of the very few fics where I have the entire, complete story mapped out in my brain. It's not going to drag on forever, I know exactly how it ends, which is kind of nice. I also really love the idea of punk rock idol Joey, he would be such a hit and a heart-throb.

Oh! And there is a very specific reason that I'm using all the Japanese names in this fic, and that will be revealed through the plot very soon! 🤫 This fic is a bit of a backburner fic, but like I said, I know exactly how it's going to end, so this isn't going to stay unfinished, I swear! I also plan to cap off the final chapter with quite the finale! 😁

YUP…and she hated it. 😂 It’s an experience they’d both rather forget but one that I found very useful in understanding Devlin’s character!

This was early in Act 2 so Devlin and Astarion weren’t exclusive. Devlin was, however, catching feelings for Astarion. She understood he was putting on a front though and assumed he’d eventually call it quits with her. She tried to preemptively steel herself against his rejection in a typical self-sabotaging way. She was alone with her thoughts, which were worsened by Sceleritas Fel whispering in her ear. It left her feeling vulnerable. She wanted an escape…and what better way than in the arms of another!

And guess which horny weirdo threw himself at her?

Gale isn’t her usual type but she was taken by his unique sexual advances. She also suspected he was seeking his own escape with her after the “go kill yourself” order from his ex. She thought this was going to be sex for sex’s sake, a win-win experience for all parties…she was wrong! 🤣

Gale’s astral projection sex was actually an affront to all that Devlin loves about sex.

Taking the body out of it was sacrilegious for her. Devlin is a very physical person who loves bodies in all of their sweaty, fluid, gross, decaying goodness. Gale’s romantic speech beforehand was also completely lost on her. She’s not against romance per se but she has a pretty different conception of it from most! She prefers romance with a little more bite.

The morning after, Astarion’s “I see you found a new lover…” scene triggered, which legitimately caught Devlin off guard. It showed her that Astarion cared more than he was letting on. They grew a lot closer after that! Good thing too because soon she'd try to eat him when the urges took over LOL

She was also NOT SHY in telling Gale how much she hated their sex. Prompting Gale to reflect on why he’s often attracted to assholes like Devlin (I say this affectionately, I love my little jerk but she’s such a bully to Gale😂) I think he did some important soul searching afterwards and actually grew to have a little more self respect!

Thanks for the ask! I wasn't sure this would ever come up but it's something that has quietly shaped their interactions in the fancomics I make! Plus, it gives all new context to the holiday card post!
