Devlin was ready for an argument, but hearing these words made him ease up. His hardened expressions became softer, as the words sounded like an echo of his own. Devlin himself never accepted help, having another lick his wounds clean or tell him reassuring words. To him it went against the hero ideal, that he was placed on this earth to save mortal life. But now, he heard it from someone else, a stranger- nay, not even a friend- Ilyas was simply an acquaintance. It stuck the core of heart, nonetheless.

"You and me both. I think we get the help that we think is acceptable to us. But- how did you know that you need help, Ilyas? What triggered you to... realize it?"

YUP…and she hated it. 😂 It’s an experience they’d both rather forget but one that I found very useful in understanding Devlin’s character!

This was early in Act 2 so Devlin and Astarion weren’t exclusive. Devlin was, however, catching feelings for Astarion. She understood he was putting on a front though and assumed he’d eventually call it quits with her. She tried to preemptively steel herself against his rejection in a typical self-sabotaging way. She was alone with her thoughts, which were worsened by Sceleritas Fel whispering in her ear. It left her feeling vulnerable. She wanted an escape…and what better way than in the arms of another!

And guess which horny weirdo threw himself at her?

Gale isn’t her usual type but she was taken by his unique sexual advances. She also suspected he was seeking his own escape with her after the “go kill yourself” order from his ex. She thought this was going to be sex for sex’s sake, a win-win experience for all parties…she was wrong! 🤣

Gale’s astral projection sex was actually an affront to all that Devlin loves about sex.

Taking the body out of it was sacrilegious for her. Devlin is a very physical person who loves bodies in all of their sweaty, fluid, gross, decaying goodness. Gale’s romantic speech beforehand was also completely lost on her. She’s not against romance per se but she has a pretty different conception of it from most! She prefers romance with a little more bite.

The morning after, Astarion’s “I see you found a new lover…” scene triggered, which legitimately caught Devlin off guard. It showed her that Astarion cared more than he was letting on. They grew a lot closer after that! Good thing too because soon she'd try to eat him when the urges took over LOL

She was also NOT SHY in telling Gale how much she hated their sex. Prompting Gale to reflect on why he’s often attracted to assholes like Devlin (I say this affectionately, I love my little jerk but she’s such a bully to Gale😂) I think he did some important soul searching afterwards and actually grew to have a little more self respect!

Thanks for the ask! I wasn't sure this would ever come up but it's something that has quietly shaped their interactions in the fancomics I make! Plus, it gives all new context to the holiday card post!

You total sweetheart, you have no idea how happy it makes me to have someone ask about that fic!

The premise of the fic is that Jounouchi made it big as an idol by going viral, then signed a contract with the agency KaibaCorpProductions. The CEO Seto Kaiba doesn't get along with Jounouchi at all, but he paid him more than enough to cover Shizuka's eye operation and understands the valuable niche that Jou fills in his lineup of stars.

Ryou Bakura and Marik Ishtar are an idol duo called Millium Magic. KCP doesn't allow them to be openly queer, but they do their best to let their true selves shine through anyways, and plenty of fans see that for what it is. 😉 And yes, they're very much dating each other.

Mai Kujaku is a stylist and designer for KCP, Yugi Mutou is Jounouchi's manager, and Ryuji Otogi is his choreographer. Jounouchi's bi ass can't help having a crush on Ryuji, and when he accidentally overhears the dancer singing one of Jou's songs, he becomes even more fascinated with him. Why would he hide a talent like that, especially at an agency where that could benefit him? 🤔

After spending a day off together (the newest chapter), Jou is even more intrigued than before, and what did he mean when he implied he had already "started his hustle" by age ten? Why is he so comfortable with the English language? And should Jou go for it with this absolute dream of a hottie, or is dating a coworker in this industry just asking for trouble?

This is one of the very few fics where I have the entire, complete story mapped out in my brain. It's not going to drag on forever, I know exactly how it ends, which is kind of nice. I also really love the idea of punk rock idol Joey, he would be such a hit and a heart-throb.

Oh! And there is a very specific reason that I'm using all the Japanese names in this fic, and that will be revealed through the plot very soon! 🤫 This fic is a bit of a backburner fic, but like I said, I know exactly how it's going to end, so this isn't going to stay unfinished, I swear! I also plan to cap off the final chapter with quite the finale! 😁

Once again, Devlin sits by the window watching the stars. Not a single thought goes through his head. So lost amongst the star dusts, he doesn't realize that today is a special day. A day where the Goddess of Love and Beauty presence is at it's most powerful. He barely jumps when something soft wraps around him.

It temporarily impairs his vision. He sees the texture of cotton. The pastel pink and lavender stripes with baby blue and mint green flowers. Then it slides down to hang around his neck instead.

The culprit bothering him wears a bright smile. Her pink hair and ruby-like eyes are familiar. He knows he has seen her recently. The name on the very tip of his tongue- Ah.

"Fawn. What is this?" Devlin inquires, gesturing to the 'rope' around him.

When he was given an answer, Devlin stares at Fawn. Then to the gift she gave him. Then he looks at her with more questions. He doesn't understand it. What purpose did she have to give him this? Why would she give him something like this?

Was Fawn asking him to use it as a noose and silently depart from Arcis Space Station?

Well, Devlin would prefer if Fawn was straightforward in asking him to leave than a roundabout way.

But the softness of the gift in his hand brings forth a memory that he feels does not belong to him.

Someone face is blurred out but her excitment is clear. The smile in her voice as she gifts him a scarf as well- a plain scarf that feels too thin in his hands. But he clutches it close to his chest like it's the most precious item ever.

Then his lips move before he thinks. Mirroring that man every action from his smile to his words, "Thanks. It might be a rag, but to me? It's the best armor I'll ever get. Don't look so down- Smile for me, yeah?"

"When I come back, I'll be wearing this scarf so you can recognize me amongst the dull try-hards."

Silence lingers after that, Devlin face slowly returns to his usual unreadable expression. Eyes that held a shine for just a moment is gone. He blinks at Fawn and bows his head, "...Thanks Fawn."
