Devlin was ready for an argument, but hearing these words made him ease up. His hardened expressions became softer, as the words sounded like an echo of his own. Devlin himself never accepted help, having another lick his wounds clean or tell him reassuring words. To him it went against the hero ideal, that he was placed on this earth to save mortal life. But now, he heard it from someone else, a stranger- nay, not even a friend- Ilyas was simply an acquaintance. It stuck the core of heart, nonetheless.

"You and me both. I think we get the help that we think is acceptable to us. But- how did you know that you need help, Ilyas? What triggered you to... realize it?"

"Devlin?" Jasmine's voice was soft. She never had been very good at claiming attention. "I wanted to know.. Do you also teach self defense?"

There was a small get-together at Will's place, and Devlin was there along with his new friend, Delia. If he and Delia had names so similar that they could pass as siblings, then they had to be friends. But there was someone else there and it came as a pleasant surprise to him.

Jasmine.

She was that sweet girl who drove him home, even stopped to share a late night snack, and then texted him once she arrived home safe. Devlin was fond of her, how could he not be? And clearly so was Delia who loved talking about her and all the fun they have together- including baking. But he didn't think she was interested in him, and that was okay. He didn't want to impose, so he kept a respectful distance and lived his normal life. But a part of him kept thinking- what if?

Especially now, when they were in the same room. Delia went to the kitchen and Will was elsewhere. It left the two of them alone in that living room space.

He was lost in his thoughts, when she claimed his attention. Jasmine spoke so soft, he was relieved he was able to pick up on it. What she asked was unexpected, but he was nodding his head.

"I have trained in self defense, and lately I've been teaching de-escalation to prevent further altercation. A few moves that are easy and effective in making your opponent useless," he tilted his head, "why do you ask, Jasmine?"

As if he was hypnotized, Devlin did not move a muscle. He had just arrived from grocery shopping from the town, and placed all the produce on the counter before noticing Gemina was there in the living space. He took a seat, needing to rest for a bit, but that is when she started nuzzling him. Devlin was pleasantly surprised more than he was confused, deciding to simply enjoy the moment of her cool face against his radiating warmth.

"Hi Mina," he spoke softly, running his hands through her hair, forgetting all the tension between them and her aching distance. He leaned over slightly to leave an affectionate peck on the top of her head. She was confusing for Devlin, saying one thing and doing another- and yet he wanted to simply enjoy her company and what she can give him now.

"I know I can't move... can I speak though?"

"I know, I'm always the one asking questions, but I'm open to your inquiries too, my love," he began and thought of how to answer. Alyrys was curious about how he felt as a husband to her, and a father to Divya. He had just laid the babe to sleep, a tiny and attached little thing that was the sweetest girl.

"I feel that I have a new purpose in life altogether, new goals and at the same time, I feel scared. I remember the nightmares I had of losing you, that fateful night you gave birth, and it only makes me want to protect you and Divya even more. Duke makes Ryou some custom resin dice for each of his Monster World characters. Ryou makes hand-painted figurines of all Duke's characters for him in return.

They gift each other the nerdiest things you've ever seen. Mug that reads "Rolling Dice Builds Character." T-shirt of D&D dice in pride flag colors. Art prints of their Monster World characters that looks like a movie poster for their campaign.

They are a switch couple. That means they take turns being the big spoon when they cuddle. (Sometimes Duke just wants to be held, okay?)

They love to play with each other's hair.

They shower together often.

Ryou falls asleep on the couch sometimes, and Duke will pull a blanket over him so he doesn't get cold overnight.

For Halloween, they always do couples costumes and throw a big party for their friends. That includes little monster cookies and tombstone cupcakes and all the fun party food you see in those home magazines.

Duke doesn't ask about Ryou's experience with the Millennium Ring, because he doesn't want to pry, but he will always listen whenever Ryou feels the need to talk about it.

Ryou started stealing Duke's t-shirts, so Duke started stealing Ryou's socks, and it kept getting worse until one day they realized they were both wearing only the other's clothes. Then they went on a double date with Yugi and Téa where they dressed up and acted like each other, just for the fun of it. Everyone had a good laugh. They now do makeovers often.

You know that meme of the lesbians? One leaning over the other doing their makeup? Yeah, that's Duke doing Marik's Ryou's makeup.

They go to Renn Fair and fantasy/scifi conventions together, always with couples costumes. Sometimes as fairies or as their Monster World characters, sometimes as Duel Monsters cards.

Duke wears high heels sometimes, to show off his legs, and is greatly in support of Ryou in frilly skirts.

They have a very comfortable, playful relationship. They're cute and flirty and happy and great together.

"Spunky," she could barely say the word considering the context without laughing. "Is the right word for it- if by spunky you mean has alot of spirit. Dev is the sweetest man I know....but you can always be sweeter you know?" She purposefully took a sip of her cranberry juice. @pyrokineticwarrior

Lucien lives with Sullivan and Octavian! Their home is right next to Julius' dress shop.

when you remove someones underwear, where do you put it?

"I wouldn't put it on the floor, it gets dirty and that's not nice. I have a little coat-rack thing, but shorter that is not that far from my bed. I clean it often, and every time after a hook-up, because it's great for hanging all sorts of clothes so it's all nice and organized. I call it my little one-night-stand night-stand."
