I have my fair share of “designer” house plants lying around, but I have to give so much love and respect to my pothos’. My mom has grown pothos for as long as I can remember (I think she’s only ever had one pothos that she has simply propagated endless times), and it is such a classy plant. I have a couple different types of pothos, but my neighbor gave me this one before she moved, and I feel like that is almost unfair because this plant seriously is so beautiful.

Talk about an easy, forgiving plant that just keeps growing and growing. I also love the vine aesthetic...true jungle vibes.

The Evolution of Charlie.

This plant is sentimental to me for one reason: it belonged to my father, Steve. Growing up, I remember Charlie always hanging around the house. Usually on the kitchen counter where it received the brightest indirect sunlight our small mobile home could offer. Its dark green vines touching the floor after a successful growing season. When it would rain, Steve would task me with placing Charlie outside to collect Mother Nature's gift. Charlie was the only plant in the house & in some way, became a member of our tight knit family. Namely, the Devil's Ivy is difficult to kill. One could say Charlie must have felt Steve's presence dissipate from this Earth. I wonder if plants share some sort of cosmic connection to their caregivers? I'm no expert by any means. After doing some light research (thanks to YouTube) I quickly began to understand how propagation worked. I salvaged what I could from Charlie & placed it in a mason jar. I didn't have much hope, but just like my father, Charlie proved to be resilient.

If you have followed my manga reading preferences, you may have noticed that I love fantasy food manga! Kakuriyo is one that I watched the anime of first, and fell in love with its charm and slice of life feel. Praise me! I have spent the last seven hours doing the last of the odd jobs that I had put on my "Oh no, it's covid-19-and-we-have-to-stay-home" To Do List. I scrubbed the kitchen, washed the balcony windows inside and out, changed my bedding, mopped the kitchen and the bathroom, did all my dishes and scrubbed the sink, replaced a blown out light bulb on my solar light string on my balcony, rehung the indoor lights whose command strips had let go, and because there's nobody to give #pothos clippings to recently I haven't been cutting my pothos back, so I got up on a step stool and I rearranged where all the tendrils are hanging on the wall. I just have to scrub the tub which is filled with dirt from the windows I washed, then I can get rid of this sweat! Well-earned sweat, I must say. And if I feel up to it, I might actually do some writing. My first Golden Pothos I named Charleigh is thriving in her nursery pot. I made the mistake of repotting her too soon so I placed her back (after a month in this ceramic pot) in her nursery pot & used the ceramic one as a cover pot. Her roots still need to develop more so she'll stay here for another year/next spring.
